Que pobres tan ricos #61... If I had a penny for every time a leading lady or leading guy act stupidly after being on receiving end of stupid people's demeaning statements...
Repeat of Lupe turning down Nepo: not now, not tomorrow, not soon, not ever! (no ahorita, no despuesito, adelantito tampoco… nunca!) We are just not compatible. I won’t marry you.
Does that mean that you are breaking up with me, lupita?? (DUH!!!) Nepo claims the earlier proposal did not count because he did not have a ring at the time. She says it doesn’t matter. HE is depressed. She feels bad, says she and her whole family appreciate Nepo and his family. Nepo insists ‘if you care about me as I care about you, and you don’t really want to marry me, I understand… but… one condition…(gesturing tiny with his fingers) Nepo offers to run with the expenses of the trip. He will treat everyone to the trip and when they return, friends like always. (so he got his way, he is coming along for the trip, she leaves and he starts gesturing ‘Yes!!’ like he has a plan for the trip…)
Mati fixing MA up to go to work after he overslept. He asks Frida what time she got home. She nags that she is grown up already. MA seems to be irritated, but he claims he is just worried about her. Leo jumps up, whinning they won’t let him sleep. AS whines that this is just like the camote salesguy and tamale vendors waking her up with their scandal. Mati and MA and Frida all shout in chorus just like the street vendors just to annoy Leo and AS… (that was funny…)
Later Frida and Tizoc run into each other in the bathroom, he reminds her what happened last night, ‘amor eterno’ and all that… she seems to be depressed, more like wanting to forget.
Later on Tizoc runs into her again and asks her for another kiss… she is annoyed by the request, she claims it was fun last night, but she is not ready for compromise. HE is though. She says what happened last night should not have happened, and I am not a ho… He says he knows that, she is no ho, she is the ONLY one. Frida keeps backtracking… she only wants friendship. He says he gets it, she still considers him beneath her… She tries to say no that’s not it.
Later on, at work, Nepo and MA are talking about MA’s ideas for Nepo’s business… he only asked MA for a ‘proposal’. MA seems to have a complete business and marketing plan and this all goes over Nepo’s head. He just wants to get the business to go well. So now it is MA that is calling quits on the plan. (seems Nepo insisted in MA helping him with the Lupe issue, MA walks away protesting).
Perla talks to Tizoc, she wants to ‘defend him from Frida’… she leaves saying ‘leave it to me, I’ll fix it.’ He stays there worried…
MA continues counting the money and saying he will make a payment on what they owe the Menchacas… (wait, this is a repeat of the scene we saw last night)… Perla attacks Frida, grabs Frida by neck. Out come from different doors Tizoc and MA first, then the rest of the family. AS uses the opportunity of the chaos to steal some of the money from MA’s stack. Perla tells everyone Frida got involved with Tizoc… everyone has frozen faces… (this scene was totally repeated from the ending of last night).
At hospital seems A-hole is demanding he be released, the doctor says that is not a good idea, your friends Pepe and Tono could be impacted. Get used to the idea that you won’t be able to have intimacy with your wife for a good while. Vilma starts talking silly about transplant of those organs is no easy task. A-hole insists in leaving, Doctor hands him his release papers to sign.
AS questions Frida if she got involved with the ‘cumbanchero’… She nags at Frida that they all lost their dignity… MA notices the money in AS’ cleavage and takes it saying ‘seems the whole family lost some dignity! Right?’
Back to hospital, A-hole is trying to get dressed and ready to go… but he slips and falls and seems he hurt himself ‘you know where’… Vilma is trying to care for him but he nags at her. Doctor warns he might worsen his wound. He is set on leaving anyway.
Seems there is a RP and Menchaca family meeting… MA asks Don Chuy for everyone to act maturely. Tizoc says we had a bit of money so we went out. AS asks who borrowed money from whom. MA tries to help Frida saying ‘some money she got back then’… Frida adds that it was from the equipment rental back at the wrestling event. Leo does not buy it and tries to call foul play on Frida’s story. Tizoc threatens him not to butt in. Don CHuy had given the money to Tizoc to pay Frida’s friends. Frida says the guys wanted to collect more money yada yada… they are trying to tell everyone else that ‘things between us are clear as water’. Everyone is looking at each other like ‘yeah VERY clear’… (MA and Lupe look more worried than mad, but …)
Later on, at Fonda dining area, Emi is asking Mati if she heard anything. Nope. But with that habit they have of leaving the elders and minors out of the gossip, we are the last to find out.
Back to the dual family meeting. Tizoc insists it was a misunderstanding. AS nags that it would have been the pits of Frida ended up showing face for the ‘cumbianchero’. Chuy offers an apology to AS, she accepts it, but with the request that the shameful issue is not repeated. The RPs leave… Tizoc wants to leave too, but CHuy drags him back in. He wants the truth. Tizoc tries to repeat but Chuy says he was not born yesterday. Did you have anything to do with her? Perla instigates Tizoc to tell the truth. Lupe tries to convince Chuy that it was a misunderstanding. Chuy says we have to be real careful, the relationship with the RPs is very delicate until the deed issue is resolved. Please understand our house, the fonda and our future is at stake here. If we are not careful, these folks can end up keeping our property. He is worried the RPs can end up tricking them. Lupe does not agree. Tizoc says don’t worry about me, I want to stay away from ‘la hipir-is-nice’. Chuy says watch out. Understood? Understood!
At A-hole’s, Isela warns Mini that she will not go back to that dirty neighborhood with her for any price. Driver comes in, tells them the car is ready. Where can I take you. Mini says they are but he is not. She demands the keys from him but he says no can’t do. Boss said he would driver them wherever they wanted to go. In comes A-hole with Vilma. Mini fakes happy greeting. A-hole asks where they were heading. Just shopping! She squeezes his cheeks… He says he was anxious to come home and be with his gordita. With all two of you.. .three! Their shopping trip will have to wait, he wants to spend time with his wife and ‘A-hol-ito’.
AS keeps nagging at Frida about getting involved with Frida. MA tries to defend Frida, Leo tries to sink her deeper. He even mentions other ex boyfriends of Frida… AS mentions that the boy was son of a meat packing company owner, that is something. MA says whateverhappens between Frida and Jose Tizoc is only business of Frida and Jose Tizoc. AS says no way! We might be together but not scrambled (juntos pero no revueltos) and they will be involved over my dead body!! (Lupe comes in, asks if everything is ok… MA says yes I think so… Lupe leaves and AS insists the Menchacas will NEVER be at the level of the RP… shouts loud enough to intentionally be heard downstairs). MA rolls his eyes.
At A-hole’s everything revolves around his well being and being well cared for. Isela gets as close as possible to kicking Vilma out… well, she does. Mini insists the nurse can care for him better than anyone else. A-hole grabs her and says you ain’t going anywhere… how is ‘mi bebe’??
Don Chuy is sermoning Tizoc in his room, ‘you don’t have to mix up with rich folks, least of all the RPs. Things got complicated because we are already tangled with MA’s issues. If he is caught, we all fall for hiding him.
At Fonda kitchen, MA comes down and Lupe is quiet and depressed.. MA sits in front of her. Holds her hand. She takes his hand off hers. MA apologizes for what happened. And for what his mom said, for Lupe having to hide him from Mini, for what happened with Frida, for everything. MA thinks Lupe is mad at him. Lupe enumerates: your ex came to my house looking for you… your mom said our family is not at the level of yours…
MA tries to explain…
Lupe insists ‘no, I am getting it’ we are not at your level. I am getting to know your ex-women. They wear high heels, and I never will…
MA insists he does not make distinctions between her and them, he no longer feels anything for Mini…
Lupe wants to be more realistic… what will happen with us when you fix your legal issues? What will you do with me? Where will I end up?
MA and Lupe continue…
MA: you are right. Don’t know what will happen. But how about we not worry until that happens. Meanwhile, lets let things flow as they may…
Lup: And when were you planning to tell your mom and siblings that we are dating? What will my family say? … I can’t imagine it… you and I together… no, I can’t imagine. ‘
MA: Then what? We split because of our worrying of what will happen? ‘
Lupe insists in worrying about ‘what will happen’. MA keeps asking her to give their relationship some time. Lup: No, I don’t have time. And whatever was there between us, is over. Go.’
(MA leaves quietly, she stays there crying). (oh yeah Mini and Isela’s words hurt her… hurt her bad in her self image)
At A-hole’s they are having breakfast outdoors… Isela keeps mentioning the accident… A-hole asks ‘don’t help me, dear mom in law’. Out comes Mini with her baby ‘bump’. Mini comes to A-hole and asks ‘does it hurt much?’ No, not much. Then Mini and Isela fake talking about the baby. Isela says ‘you will get well so much faster here at home, nothing like the peace and quiet of your own home… OYUKIIIIIII!!!! ‘. A-hole rolls his eyes.
Back at Fonda, they are planning a birthday party… Carmelita asks Lupe what happened between MA and her. Lupe says nothing is happening. Its dead. She mentions what she heard from Mini and Isela about the differences between them. Lupe worried about what will happen when he gets his money back. She does not believe he will change his old lifestyle for her. Carmelita says stop comparing MA and A-hole. They might be related but MA is very different from his cousin. (wonderful words of wisdom from Carmelita).
Mini keeps trying to get A-hole to let her go out ‘course in psychoprofilactic’ but Ahole keeps saying No. Isela comes in, asks how he is feeling, does it hurt there? Must be horrible (so funny they keep reminding him of it every second they get). Mini tries to push Isela to stay caring for A-hole. Isela keeps yelling for OYUKIIIIII and A-hole covers his ears.
At work, MA and Trofeo are at it, Trofeo tries to treat MA to beer… then seems Dona Queta is interested in him… LOL!!... it was a joke… Saul comes by, giggles at seeing MA working. Saul came to tell MA the latest news. MA asks did you find a way to prove my innocence? No.
Mini opens the door for Vilma, suggests Vilma care for A-hole while Mini goes to the class. A-hole says let the driver take you. Mini says no need. My mom will come with me. A-hole insists the driver will take them both. Don’t want them exposed on the street by themselves. Mini insists and he gets angrier. IT is not up for discussion. The driver will take you there. NUFF SAID!
At couch, Frida and Tizoc… she is still mad at all that happened. Tizoc is fed up with her attitude. Frida says she had only tried to help. He says don’t worry, will find folks for my band on my own. MA comes home and asks Carmelita if she knows where Lupe is. Carmelita is busy… MA offers to work for her as waiter. Carmelita sends him with some dishes to customers. At dining room, Isela and Mini are disguised at a table. Isela says if MA smells like grease then surely he is around here. Out comes Carmelita serving drinks… She asks if Mini needs anyting, Mini says no thanks. At that moment MA comes out of kitchen with a great smile and freezes at seeing Mini. (OOPSIE!!!)
Previews: MA seems to be telling Mini about the other ‘woman he cares about’. Mini does not take it well… also, Vilma is reading a report to A-hole where it says Mini has undergrown uterus. A-hole grabs his face, is devastated/frozen.

I was glad that we finally got to see the Ruiz-Palacios all in the same bed minus MA but with DaVinci.
Sad scene with Lupita and MA. Just letting the relationship evolve on the QT isn't doing it for Lupita at this point. Her fear of the future when MA is back in his own milieu is totally logical. I was happy Carmen told her not to compare the cousins.
Poor Jose Tizoc for having fallen for Frida.
At least MA saw the money AS took and got it back.

Thanks so very much for this marvelous detailed recap.
I felt so bad for Tizoc and poor Frida. She is fighting her feelings and poor Tizoc just doesn't know. I hope they find a way to resolve it, they are so very cute together.
I also felt bad for Lupita who it seems, is afraid of RP men. After what Ahole did to her, she is scared of what MA would do once he gets back his lana and everything that goes with it. She just remembers all the bad Ahole did. I think MA would stick with her through thick and thin. He just needs to keep showing her.
Isela and Mini were very funny, especially reminding Ahole about his injury every chance they got, too funny! And the Oyuki that Isela does, that is really funny. Too bad MA was going to serve people at that point and Mini saw him.
Nepo still doesn't get that no means no, not ever, not gonna happen. No wonder his wife left him. I bet that was the only way he would have gotten the point. He is deaf, dumb and blind as far as Lupita is concerned.
I agree with you Jarifa, about Perla Ivette, she could have kept her feelings to herself and left her brother alone. She is another one that thinks Frida is out to use Tizoc, just as Ahole used Lupita.

Isela and Mini were very funny, especially reminding Ahole about his injury every chance they got, too funny! And the Oyuki that Isela does, that is really funny. Too bad MA was going to serve people at that point and Mini saw him.
Nepo still doesn't get that no means no, not ever, not gonna happen. No wonder his wife left him. I bet that was the only way he would have gotten the point. He is deaf, dumb and blind as far as Lupita is concerned.
I agree with you Jarifa, about Perla Ivette, she could have kept her feelings to herself and left her brother alone. She is another one that thinks Frida is out to use Tizoc, just as Ahole used Lupita.

MA hasn't stopped to think how he feels about Lupita other than he really likes her and enjoys kissing her. But he hasn't caught himself when he says things like how he'll clear his name and finally leave there forever, and Lupe has had to listen to that.
It's like having a summer job and dating someone there. You go with the mindset that it's very much temporary. Lupe isn't looking for that, though and MA at this point kind of is simply because all he can think about is leaving his current situation. He needs to confront his feelings.
Lupe has already been burned and she has a son to think about as well.
As for Perla, I'm no fan of hers, but I can't get mad at her for this one because Frida is being pretty awful to Tizoc. As they say, shit or get off the pot. She wants to make out with Tizoc but treat him like a shameful secret. It's not a healthy dynamic when Tizoc is basically all in.

Sara- MA knows who Emi's dad is, but it's still a secret from most of the Menchacas and the RPs. The only people who know that Alejo is Emi's dad are Lupe, Chuy, Carmen, and MA. That's it.

Argh!! They did it again! They showed us the Perla/Frida fight on Monday night, but left out a ton of stuff that led up to it that we didn't see until last night.
I can't even call it bad editing. It's more like intentionally misleading editing. Because when I saw how Frida was putting Tizoc down, that really changed my opinion of Perla's involvement. Oh, I still think she's envious of Frida and a little insecure (even though Perla doesn't seem very insecure in general), but I didn't like Frida very much at that moment and I was glad that Perla took her to task.
However, Perla would have been smarter to do that discreetly. By forcing the issue, she forced JT to pick a side - and he sided with Frida. Not Perla. That cannot have been what Perla had in mind.
So I am totally with Anon 11:08 on this. And again with the MA/Lupe thing and the summer job analogy. On the one hand, Mini and Isela and AS are all idiots and Lupe shouldn't listen to them. But it's also true that MA is looking at life with the Menchacas as a temporary situation, and it can't feel good for Lupita to realize that she might be temporary too.

I haven't seen this episode, but I'm sad Frida and Tizoc are still so unsettled. I will defend Frida a bit...I think she's feeling very anxious and insecure and she's having trouble articulating her issues to Tizoc. She's in a precarious position right now. Uprooted from her home and regular life, living with people who don't really want them there and fearing they could get thrown out at any time. Her family is unreliable--mom is actively a burden to her children rather than a support, one brother is useless, the other brother tries to help but he could be found and arrested at any time, and then where would Frida be? Grandma is emotionally supportive, but unable to do much for the family's situation.
I can understand why she'd be nervous about getting attached. And it's reasonable that she wouldn't want the whole world (aka her monster of a mother) to know they're together; AS is guaranteed to make life miserable over the issue. She wasn't worried about other people seeing them, like at the club. She didn't even seem that concerned about Perla seeing them kissing, until Perla decided to be a blabbermouth. I think it's AS who is the problem.
Meanwhile, Tizoc has had a stable home and close supportive family his whole life. He can afford (mentally/emotionally) to take some risks.
MA, on the other hand, does need to treat his relationship with Lupita less like a summer camp fling. She isn't looking for casual. She may want to take things slow, but that doesn't mean she even wants to go slowly with someone who isn't serious about her.
I'm looking forward to the trip to Chalma!

Perla doesn't have a lot of smarts or strategery (tm GWB), bless her heart. Hasn't she ever heard of blackmail? Why would she blurt a secret so soon?

Oh, and also about Perla's lack of thinking. She was ready to give up info about MA and Frida for whatever cash Minerva was offering, until she got that look from Lupita. She wasn't even going to negotiate for more, nor was she thinking about the implications for her own family.
Lol julia, so Perla is pretty much a cabeza hueca, isn't she? didn't she almost burn out AS's hair and lose Mati when she was 'hired' to watch her? so what kind of job could she keep? hmmmm

It's things like that which make me like Leo a lot more than Ana Sofia. He has a soul in there somewhere. His mother keeps trying to stifle it, but he's more reasonable and moral than she is.
Yes, Leo did say Tizoc was better than Tato. The way he said it, it came off as a backhanded compliment at best... but since that's the only way Leo knows how to give a compliment, I think it was sincere.

Oh my, I can't believe that our opinions of Perla are so different. I fell in love with her when she went to the interview for models. She handled herself with such grace and aplomb, and as I just said, I loved her defense of her brother (misguided and unneeded as it was).

I admired Perla's grace when she was being dissed at the agency. She even wisely kept her mouth shut about recognizing the RPs in the photos! They seem to have dumbed her down since then, though. I'd love to see her get a better storyline to highlight her better traits.

I am a watching Monday's episode and I am DYING to know the name of the song that was playing when Tizoc and Frida kissed in the club. It was used in the movie Bajo la Misma Luna too.

So... Now I'm watching Tuesdays episode and I have to say I'm with Carlos. Frida was quite cold and brusque with Tizoc. I don't blame Perla for reaching like she did. That's her brother and she is probably feels like the RPs just keep using and using them. She snapped. Since she and Frida are close in age she probably felt she could realese some pent up anger and get away with it.
I was impressed with Perla at the RP model search too, but she has been nasty to Frida from the very start. Remember when she deliberately confused Frida about how to light the boiler? Frida's own bad behavior brought out Perla's very worst.
