Que Pobres Tan Ricos #78: 4/24/14: You Dropped A Bomb On Me!
Hola Amiguis! Yes, it's me again! I will try to make this one short and tidy and I have another earworm for you. This one is for MA and Lupe: Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid.
I am skipping the old and starting with the new. Shall we begin? Dona Q and Trofeo are at the market and Trofeo is talking up Mi Mike for that chofer's job, he is a man that can be trusted, take his word for it, Dona Q still isn't quite sure.
AS and Don Chuy are still speaking at this point and he wants her to explain exactly what she meant when she said the Menchaca were "different"? Well she meant they are traditional folks, yeah that's the ticket that was what she meant! Don Chuy tells AS the hoity toity one that he told MA to stay away from his good daughter Lupe and AS says Lupe doesn't know her place! Don Chuy tells AS this works both ways she has to tell MA to stay away from his Lupe who is a good girl, while MA is in trouble with the law, and he's a deliquent! AS tries to say that MA is innocent and didn't do it, and walks away just as pithed as Don Chuy is.
Dona Q finds Mi Mike and gives him the chofer's job. He is delighted, but then again, he hasn't got a car! What to do?
MA calls Saul and tells him about his new job as El Bambi's chofer! Saul is not very happy, El Bambi is dangerous!
Carm is assisting at the Salon de Guendy cause Guendy isn't there and there are at least three women there wanting something done. Guendy was going by the market. I think she was too embarrased and didn't go in.
Frida finally gets a chance to call MA and tells him all about that convo that AS had with Lupe and how Leo took her phone and wouldn't give it back. MA now understands why Lupe was so not herself when she called. He comes to the Fonda and hugs Lupe.
Tomas and Lupe are discussing this custody thingy with Ahole. What if Lupe says that Emi isn't Ahole's? Tomas tells her that's not good cause Ahole will be wanting a ADN test and the results will show he is the Papa. So for now they are sticking with the plan that Tomas has. MA comes in and asks Tomas to be his lawyer. Tomas can't beleive it! Is he serious? Course he is. Tomas will work hard for MA.
Carm and Guendy are still talking as Guendy is finally doing the Ladies' hair and asks Carm what Don Chuy said to her when he came for that "manicure"? He asked Carm to come back to the Fonda and she is thinking about it. Guendy now decides to go to the market after all to see Nepo cause she is concerned and leaves poor Carm holding the hair dryer, well not that, but hold down the fort, so to speak.
MA wants to give AS hell for speaking to Lupe that way and what she said when Granny Mati comes in with that letter for Lupe, and MA doesn't take it. Granny Mati sets it down and this is where Lupe finds it. She opens it and read it and is just speechless, she can't beleive it. It is a demand letter for the 300 mil pesos plus interest and he wants that lana yesterday!
Where is Nepo you ask? Drunk as a skunk, and singing. Deigo is watching him and Guendy has made it there and is looking on like Que the Hell???? Deigo says Nepo has been this way since Lupe talked to him. He loved Lupe with all his heart and he's been crying and crying. Lupe is in love with someone else.
Don Chuy sees MA come in and MA asks if he can speak to his familia that is why he is there. Chuy is giving him a hard time and MA is once again trying to tell Chuy he loves Lupe. He doesn't want MA to break Lupe's heart, cause this isn't a telenovela where the galan marries the poor girl. Chuy allows the visit but this is the last time he is to set foot in the Fonda. MA goes up to the Penthouse.
Guendy asks Nepo if he knows who this guy is that Lupe loves? Nepo thinks it's Ahole. Guendy wants to make some coffee for Nepo to sober him up. He tells Guendy all about that demand letter wanting his money back from Lupe. Guendy is not pleased with him and thinks it's wrong what Nepo did. Nepo is now mad at Guendy for defending Lupe and very nastily tells her to Largate Mi Casa!!! He is an A$$hat I must say.
El Bambi calls that reporter, whose name escapes me and sets up a meet with her I think. Dona Q comes home and tells him she found someone to be his chofer and that Trofeo vouched for him. El Bambi is leery at first so Dona Q asks him you want this guy or not. He takes him. She said something about El Bambi and an airplane.
Perla and Tizoc are in the kitchen where Lupe finds them and tells them about Nepo's demand letter. They are floored and Don Chuy chooses this time to come in. They drop the subject. He is telling Lupe why he is upset, AS thinks that Lupe is ignorant and that she is like someone that doesnt' exist, like a nobody. Lupe would like to talk to MA and doesn't want to fight with Don Chuy. He tells her to do what she wants. She wants him to understand her.
AS is on her high horse and tells MA that if he is insisting on seeing Lupe not to be seen by "peeps they know" or in public. He wants AS to treat Lupe and all the Menchaca with respect. Reminds MA that Leo is about to be married to the "distinguished" Maca. Lupe has come up to the Penthouse and listens to the conversation. Frida reminds AS and Leo they stole that lana from the Menchaca, was that okay? Lupe hears every word and stays where she is at. Leo denies he stole it, it was all AS. MA says he didn't find out for awhile she took that money either, but AS isn't listening and he never told Lupe about it either. Ruh, Roh! He wants AS to apologize to Lupe right away. She isn't doing it. Lupe is too low on the scale for that. He also wants Leo to do the same, but he won't either. MA is so pithed they stole that money, but Lupe is even more stunned and pithed. We'll get back to them in a tic.
Guendy is at work again and tells Carm all about her visit to Nepo's how drunk he was and Guendy thinks that Carm might be a gossip. Carm pulls her aside and swears she never told Lupe about Guendy and Nepo.
Lupe has to take Emi to some sports thing, probably soccer and Perla and Tizoc tell Don Chuy that Lupe is really in love with MA, and what is wrong with that? Don Chuy thinks it's a passing fancy of Lupe's. After Lupe drops Emi off she goes to her room and remembers questioning MA about his familia if maybe they took that lana and him swearing that they wouldn't. Now I have to say here, MA did not know the truth at the time. He didn't find out till much later, but still he didn't tell her the truth.
Guendy is insisting to Carm she never wants Lupe to know about her and Nepo, and this is said in front of the clients too, like they can't hear all this? Really???? Guendy calls Carm over and tells her about Nepo's demand letter and Carm is just flabbergasted. How are the Menchaca going to come up with this kind of lana? Guendy asks Carm if now she wouldn't be willing to go back to the Fonda?
MA cannot for the life of him, understand AS' 'tude. MA informs them since AS and Leo basically, have this 'tude and refuse to do anything he isn't paying for their meals at the Fonda, they are on their own. AS insists that when Leo marries Maca they will be out of this "porca miseria".
Carm comes to the Fonda and Don Chuy opens the door. He is very glad to see her and she is nervous. She tells him she quit her salon job cause well, it didn't suit her. He tells her to say yes to the Fonda. She does say yes and he dances but she has one condition, that he forget all about that convo where she declared her feelings to him. All forgotten he says, what convo? Carm sees Perla and Tizoc and they have missed her as much as she has missed them. Carm asks after Lupe and gets a frown from Chuy.
Vilma and Ahole are talking about Emi and how Ahole can register him as his son and also get a ADN (DNA) test as proof that Emi is his son. After he divorces Mini then he can marry little Ms No-er, Ms Menchaca. Ahole tells Vilma all about Mini wanting a job as an executive at El Editorial and Vilma goes on and on about how Mini doesn't have the qualifications for that type of job. He is also playing a guitar, but not really, there is no sound, sort of like air guitar. He tells Vilma that through Emi he will make him the Dueno of El Editorial.
Mini and Saul have a meet about her divorce at a cafe. She still wants 50% of what Ahole has. I think Saul says she won't get that much, depends on what Ahole has I think or what they both had when her and Ahole got married. They both know that Vilma is Ahole's lawyer for this divorce. She thanks Saul and asks him by the way have you any idea the date of death of Don A, by any chance? Saul says that's personal and he doesn't tell her? Que? Why didn't she tell him what she needed it for, anyways, he goes and sticks her with the bill at the cafe.
Carm is so the voice of reason as she meets with Lupe and Lupe tells her all about the robbery and how AS stole that money and MA never told her anything about it and now Nepo wants all that lana back. Carm thinks that MA didn't tell her to protect his Mama and if Lupe were in the same situation and Don Chuy had done it she would have done the same thing. Lupe does not agree.
MA is still up in the Penthouse with a very drunken AS and Frida is still talking when Lupe comes up and knocks on the door. She wants a chat with MA and they go off. They go downstairs and she calls him a hypocrite, the RPs all knew about this Menchaca lana that AS stole and MA didn't tell her and he knew how very important this lana was. AS refusing to dignify Lupita's existence with actually using her name (don Chuy had to keep prompting her) and telling him that Lupita did not know her place made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. Yikes! Better that she stay pickled and talk nonsense!
I liked that Guendy called Nepo on calling in the loan and telling him that the loan had nothing to do with a romantic relationship with Lupita.
Looks like don Chuy has come to the end of his rope now that he has come to the "since I know nothing, do what you want but don't come to me for help if it doesn't work out" stage. AS's approach was similar just tainted with her class consciousness.
It seems with the musical instruments, various balls on display, etc. Alejo is preparing for Emiliano's visit.
If Minerva had not been so insulting to Saul she might have gotten Aureliano's death date from him and the bill paid. Very funny.
MA made a good decision asking Jose to be his lawyer.

Well, Lupe took the reveal about the money like I thought she would-- not well. I'm glad Carm was there to reason with her, and point out what she would do if it were Chuy. Even if Lupe were in that situation, I don't think she would have let it go on as long as MA. Should would have found a way to get the money back to them quickly, or taken the blame long ago. She and MA do not live by the same moral code, and the fact that it looks like he's taking the blame, now that the truth is out, seems too little too late. And Lupe still doesn't know about the million dollar grandpa clause on the house!

I agree that Mini asked the question in the wrong tone, Vivi and Jarifa. Jarifa, i feel the same as you about AS's attitude of 'entitlement' and lowering Lupe and her family... like MA and Frida said, you stole the money, so who is has fallen lower?
I love the signature for the character of Saul, where he leaves saying 'quedo de Ud, atentamente, Saul Ballesteros!' and he changes the tone to a bit insulting when he is mad at whoever he is leaving behind. Mini's face when she realized he left without paying the bill was priceless!
MA's decision to take the blame is in line with his character, esp his character after he has learned the right lessons at the Menchaca academy.

Don Chuy found his backbone last night when talking to AS. He told her that Lupe needs a man who earns a living and can support a household, and MA "no tiene donde caerse muerto", also telling her that sometimes he has a job, sometimes he doesn't. I mean I love MA, but AS needs her ridiculously inflated sense of importance to get popped because the RPs are nobody right now.
Güendy continues to be a great character. I just love her. She's such a caring person and good friend.
Thank goodness for Carmelita, and I appreciated how much Lupe heard versus a typical novela where she would just hear that then run away without hearing the rest.
I don't think this will kill the relationship for long. She knows he didn't steal it and that while she's mad, she can understand his protecting AS. But oh, that clause is going to bite MA so hard!

Oh and what Saul tells Minerva is that half of Alejo's money is a lot and that they haven't been married for very long so there's little justification for her demanding half of his fortune and it's highly unlikely that she can get that much. Then he tries to explain legal stuff about splitting possessions, but she interrupts about how it must be half.
And of course an important position at La Editorial with the corresponding large salary.

Thanks so much for all the added material I didn't get and the corrections.
I've been thinking about that Grandfather clause with the Menchaca home, and if I remember correctly not only do the Menchaca get the million dollars when the home is paid off, and it did say Menchaca in that clause, but don't they need an RP signature too? I could have sworn it was in that clause. I hope AS never finds out about this clause, or Leo or Ahole especially.
I really wish that Saul had told Mini the date of Don A's death, but Mini should have told Saul why she needed it. I think he would have been willing to give her that date then. I can't understand why Mini with the help of Isela, when they run into those "cloob Ladies" don't say that Don A was such a nice man, and when did he die again? Or we sure miss Don A, may he rest in peace, remember he died in June? Oh it was September? They would have had that date already : )
I am glad that MA asked Tomas to be his lawyer. I think Tomas will be able to get more done for MA cause he is under the radar, Vilma's that is.

I've been thinking about that Grandfather clause with the Menchaca home, and if I remember correctly not only do the Menchaca get the million dollars when the home is paid off, and it did say Menchaca in that clause, but don't they need an RP signature too? I could have sworn it was in that clause. I hope AS never finds out about this clause, or Leo or Ahole especially.

Madelaine, I so agree with you about the date of don Aureliano's death. For as smart and conniving as Isela and Minerva are, they should be able to ferret out the info.

Well...we knew MA's silence on Big Deal Matters was going to come back to bite him. I'm glad Carmelita is still serving as Lupe's voice of reason, though. She should at least let him explain that he didn't actually lie to her. When he said no one in his family took the money, he believed it was true. He didn't find out until later.
Ahole even put polo pictures on the walls of the room he fixed up for Emiliano! OMG-was he actually paying attention and remembering what Emiliano said?
I really want the Leo-Maca wedding sped along. I can hardly wait for it!
