De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #44- Thu 5/8

De que hay opciones, hay opciones

Don't worry about your little wardrobe malfunction, Brigitte.  "I didn't see anything.  I've already forgotten."  She finally stops her relentless and feeble attempt at seduction when Irene and Natalia come back from the copy shop.

Paolo gets the job, to the delight of his new love interest.

Diego complains to the ladies about his crappy severance pay and his plans to sue.  He's planning to use the money to finance the clothing line.  Irene knows exactly what the old goat is up to.  Natalia is alarmed to hear that Diego is going to leave the house…"But what about Diana?"  Natalia…there is such a thing as being too good!

From the kitchen, Irene explains to Alonso that she's going to have dinner with Tad.  He gets whiney.  That is not attractive, Alonso.

Diego's bags are packed.  He's got no intention of living under the same roof as his lyin' grandpa and his cheatin' soon-to-be-ex-wife.  Diana gets tipped off and sends Alina to threaten him.  Diana joins them, whining about not wanting to be locked up.  Diego explains to Vicente it's for the health of the baby.  He calls their bluff and says "Take her if you want to.  I'll figure out how to get my child back."  Diana and Alina head upstairs to pack.

Karina surprises Alonso at his place.  Or should I say "invades."  She insists on making him coffee.

Alina is taking the packing seriously, which amuses Diana.   She's expecting Vicente to come beg her to stay any minute now.  Alina's a little frightened by Diana and she doesn't approve of the way she's treating the baby.

Paolo shows off his stylin' new uniform for the family.  Carmen congratulates him on his new job.  She, Chato, and Lupita had dinner together.  Lupita turns down the offer of a bedtime story.

Tad introduces Irene to Beatriz, who owns a chain of clothing stores.  She evades the question of Caprico's venture into clothing and distracts Beatriz with sketches.

Karina pulls a fast one on Alonso, telling him the coffee he's drinking comes from coffee beans that are ingested by wild cats and pooped out, undigested, then cleaned off and roasted.  "Just kidding!  It's just from a higher altitude."  Diego shows up with his suitcases.

Lupita smuggles a phone under the covers and calls Eleazar.  She's still mad at him for the drinking thing, but she's determined to, um, well, block Chato.  She wants Eleazar to be her dad, but he says that's not up to him--Carmen's made her choice.  "If you don't think you can beat him, then fine, just say so!"  Lupita hangs up on him.  Ooh, she told you!  Seriously, dude…you're right that it's up to Carmen, but you've never bothered telling her OR anyone else that you're in love with her.  Start there and if she STILL picks Chato, then ok.  I'll just have to cover my eyes a lot.

Beatriz likes the designs and she'd like to see samples.  Tad and the ladies go in to dinner.

Alina and Diana are stilllllll waiting.  Vicente finally shows up, and Diana theatrically resumes her "packing."  He tries to get her to stay, but I'm not buying that the kid will have Vicente's "love."

Diego catches Karina up on the latest about Diana.  She's surprised to hear what Diana's been up to and laughs at the idea that Alina will be of any help.  Alberto is on the way over with pizza.  Diego rather stupidly invites Karina to join them for a night of dominos, but Alonso "reminds" him that they already have a fourth.  He gets stuck driving Karina home.

Vicente offers Diana his unconditional support and accepts her conditions--convincing Diego to come home, letting up on the surveillance, and giving her money.  In dueling thought bubbles, Diana vows to take everything from the stupid old man and Vicente vows to "get rid of" Diana once she has the kid.  The music suggests he intends a permanent and irreversible getting rid of.

Brigitte calls Alberto to guilt him into inviting her out, but Alberto has plans with his bros.

Beatriz takes her leave after dinner.  Irene's grateful to Tad.  She mentions their need for financing and explains that they're out of Caprico.  "What can you expect from Vicente Cacares?"  Irene asks, smiling.

Alberto arrives at Alonso's ready to trounce them all at dominos.  He and Diego are both confused about Alonso's attitude towards Karina, but they think Alonso's interested in her.  Alberto complains a little about Brigitte's attitude and then remembers to call for pizza.

Tad drops Irene off at home.  Mr. 5ft freaks me out, saying Tad shouldn't be driving.  He is SO right!  I didn't even think about that!

Alonso goes over to Eleazar's place and convinces him to leave his sandwich dinner to come over and play dominoes.

Vicente blames Irene and her project for Diego leaving the house.  She laughs at his attitude and tells him if he doesn't change it, he's going to end up alone.  Upstairs in her room, she calls Alonso…but Diego answers.  She tells him about Vicente blaming her and about the meeting with Beatriz.  Money is still an issue.  Irene thinks Vicente will get over himself.  If not, they'll start looking for investors.  Diego innocently tells her she can't talk to Alonso because he's dropping off Karina.  I KNOW she doesn't think there's anything romantic about that…but he did get awfully snippy earlier.

Brigitte fumes while Natalia sews.  Carmen wants her to stop working already.  She casually mentions that Brigitte said half the designs were hers and Natalia makes a face.

The foursome are assembled.  Alonso makes sure everyone has tasted the coffee before he repeats Karina's joke.  Eleazar is the only one who doesn't spit it out. He says it must be some high quality stuff.

Diana spews gratitude all over Vicente for opening up a bank account all for her.  Alina smiles awkwardly, but gets over it as she asks Diana to invite her for breakfast.  Diana looks like she's ready to puke at the mere thought of food.

Chato gets a call in front of Carmen and stalls the conversation until he can take the phone outside.  He complains to the person on the other end that he already sent money and he's not a money factory.  "Fine, woman, I'll deposit some more."  Carmen doesn't hear the conversation, so she accepts Chato's explanation of "problems at work."

Tiburcio stalks Padre Juancho.

Irene and Diego arrive at Casa Garcia.  Irene is surprised that the samples they were working on yesterday are ready.  Brigitte offers to model the latest one.  Tad comes over and announces that he's ready to give them start-up capital.  He whips out a check.

Padre Juancho is called away before Tiburcio can talk to him.

Irene isn't sure they should accept and Tad says to hold on to the check while they decide.  Brigitte shows up in the dress, but I think she's being outshined by the zeroes on that check.

Diana continues to make excuses for her lack of appetite.  Alina excuses herself from the table to take a phone call.  A pregnant woman walks by and Diana thought bubbles "How horrible!  That's what I'm going to look like!"  She shoves some of her food in a napkin and hides it in her purse.  BIG RED FLAG!  Alina still tries to encourage her to eat more when she gets back to the table, giddy about a skull they found at the dig site.  Diana excuses herself to go to the bathroom.

Natalia takes Brigitte outside so Irene and Diego can discuss The Check.  Diego wants to keep looking for capital elsewhere.

Natalia explains to Brigitte about Tad coming over.  She's pissy that they "had" to leave when they're "all" involved in the project.  Natalia says they're employees.  "You're just saying that because one of them is going to end up talking to you about it.  I'm the only one who's going to be left out."  Natalia tells Brigitte to just cool her jets already!  "Why are you going around saying that half of the designs are yours?  Irene's a nice person, but everyone has their limits."  Brigitte tells her to save her "advice"  and stalks off, telling Natalia to make whatever excuses she wants to.  "No one pays any attention to me anyway."

Vicente is having client problems.  Diego made certain promises that aren't in the contract and Vicente's not interested in discussing them.  He lies, saying Diego's out of the country.  Diego's about to leave Casa Garcia when he gets a call from the client.  The client asks Diego to please talk to his grandfather or he won't be able to sign the contract.  Diego says he'll do it and then explains the situation to Irene.  He and Natalia cross paths at the door.  Irene asks about Brigitte…"Oh, she's at the pharmacy."  Speaking of limits, Irene tells Natalia, "You really don't know how to lie.  It's wrong for you to protect her."

Alina takes ANOTHER call and has to head into the restaurant proper to get a good signal.  Oliverio, plus mustache, hits on her.  She recognizes him, but not from the TV, since she doesn't live in Mexico.

Carmen asks Chato about his "work problems."  He says he might have to go out of town.  Carmen jokes that as long as he doesn't take years to come back like last time.  Chato tries for a goodbye kiss, but Carmen begs off, saying Abdul might be watching.  Pro tip: if you don't WANT to kiss the guy enough not to care, then maybe you need to cut him loose.

Oliverio gives his card to Alina so she can call him later if she wants to have some…coffee.

Irene knows Brigitte is a Brat and she's spending more time paying attention to what Natalia does or doesn't do than focusing on her own work.  She thinks her designs are soooo great, when in reality she still has a lot to learn.  Irene asks Natalia for the truth--after everything that's happened and the mistakes Brigitte has made, were the designs that Brigitte showed her Natalia's?  Natalia nods sadly.

Brigitte calls Alberto and demands to see him ASAP, but he's working.  He refuses to get into an argument about it, so she hangs up on him.

Diego barges into Vicente's office, demanding to know why he told the client he was out of town.  Diego tells him that if he doesn't want to honor the clauses that Diego and the client agreed on, then he needs to own up to it and tell the client he doesn't want to honor them.  But, Diego reminds him, this is one of Caprico's biggest clients, and if Vicente doesn't play ball with the guy, they're going to lose the account.  "Don't come in here telling me how to run my business when you can't even deal with your own personal life!"  Vicente throws it in his face that he had to convince Diana to stay.  But Diego recognized Diana's threat for what it was and can't believe Vicente, The Master Manipulator, didn't.  Diego insists he'll get the severance pay he's due by law and he's not going to let Vicente's threat that they'll go broke scare him into coming back to Caprico.  "Tadeo Vargas is willing to provide us with the capital we need."  Vicente is impactado!  That's right, Grumps!  Your daughter's baby daddy, who you thought was SOOOOO beneath you, has enough money to bankroll your daughter and grandson's new business.  Put that in your quarterly reports and smoke it!

Tomorrow: Diana and Brigitte join forces to "get rid of" Natalia.

22 episodes sober :)

I'll catch up with everyone in the morning.

Another snap, crackle and pop recap Diva. Thanks.

Karina surprises Alonso at his place. Or should I say "invades." She insists on making him coffee.

Karina is invasive, isn't she? Reminds me of those kudzu plants that are taking over the South.

That's right, Grumps! Your daughter's baby daddy, who you thought was SOOOOO beneath you, has enough money to bankroll your daughter and grandson's new business. Put that in your quarterly reports and smoke it!?

Ah, the delicious irony

Brigette is evolving from icky to absolutely heinous. Very uncomfortable with this storyline.

But always enjoy the stupid, horsing around scenes with all four guys together (especially Eleazar in his pre-dominos boxer shorts!)

But especially got a kick out of Diego scrubbing our his tongue. It was a perfect copy of Tom Hanks scrubbing out caviar from his tongue in the movie Big. I often spots scenes stolen from American movies...or rather "homages" to the comedic talent shown in American movies. And we need every little bit of humor we can get in this drama!

Time for Eleazar to step up and let Carmen know how he feels. We need some good news besides Irene's continuing sobriety.

Thanks Diva, for all you do and how you manage to belt out an excellent recap no matter how crazy busy your life is. Such talent!

I'm so enjoying watching Irene grow!!!! She really handled Grumps well, didn't she??

Another great recap. I liked "dueling thought bubbles" and "put that in your quarterly report and smoke it!"

Diana+Brat=Big Trouble!

Oh yes, JudyB--El in boxers. Delicious!!!

Kat: Sizzling fun.

"Brigitte fumes while Natalia sews", "Oliverio, plus mustache, hits on her" and "Oliverio gives his card to Alina so she can call him later if she wants to have some…coffee" were sensational.

Mi amiga Judy has already quoted my favorite but it bears repeating: "That's right, Grumps! Your daughter's baby daddy, who you thought was SOOOOO beneath you, has enough money to bankroll your daughter and grandson's new business. Put that in your quarterly reports and smoke it!?"

"Alina's a little frightened by Diana and she doesn't approve of the way she's treating the baby". Uummm, yes, as the grandmother Alina would be well advised to stop fretting about the "dig" and concentrate on her daughter's health issues and lack of care and concern about her unborn child. Ack.

More Alberto please...

Even if Chato were to go away (and wouldn't that be great), I'm not quite sure El is ready to profess his love and be "all in" at this point. He is making progress but...of course if his mother would give up the sibling analogy between him and Carmen, that would be helpful!

And the brat is turning evil. Very sad to say.

Thanks Kat. I am cheering Irene's sobriety right along with you!

Diana

Kat thanks so much for this great recap. Like the others, loved your closing salvo to Grumps and your Pro Tips. Mr. 5ft did get it right about Tad driving. Tad, you have the resources, get that chauffeur.

I am loving Irene's sobriety and handling her dad. This growth will be important when she finds out the mess he's done.

Judy, Sara, and Diana have mentioned this bad development and having been things that the Brat has been set up to be bad. I thought joining forced with Diana would be a bridge too far though their minds were alike in a warped way. Not looking forward to this development.

Gracias, JudyB, Sara, Diana, and Karen.

MMM, yes...Eleazar in boxers...more of that, please!

It was so refreshing to watch Irene stanbding up to him. Like she's finally able to see right through all his BS. It's fabulous!

I so hope there's not an Alina-Oliverio hookup! If she's too busy obsessing about the dig site that's probably on the other side of the world to pay attention to her daughter, she's definitely too busy to date!

I'm bracing myself for the Diana-Brigitte alliance. Though neither of them has been effective at doing much more than being nuisances so far. Will joining forces multiply their potential for evil, or multiply their ineptitude?

I keep thinking about a anon comment yesterday. I'm trying to decide if Nat does receive special treatment or if it's all in Brigitte's head.

I don't think Carmen plays favorites, but it does seem she relies quite a bit on Nat. Is it because Carmen is over compensating or is it because Nat is quite mature? (And Brigitte is, well....a brat.)

Good question. And since they'e supposed to be so close in age, how is it that Natalia is so much more mature that she seems way older?

I can't remember, what kids did Carmen have when she took Natalia in. Did she have two (Abdul and Brat) and was expecting one (Paolo)? Or did she have one (Abdul) and was expecting one (Brat)

Actually, what *is* the birth order of the kids???????????

I always assumed the boys were oldest. Actually, before we heard the birth story, I thought Natalia was THE oldest. She's just a natural leader. Carmen had 2 already and 1 on the way, but I don't know who the 2 were. Natalia mentioned, before the coronation that it wasn't Brigitte's turn "yet."

Hey all! Popping in from my back to back meetings to say hello and to thank Kat for a stellar recap!

Paolo is still in high school, that's why he and Lupita get picked up together from school. He and Lupita are the youngest- that's why he needed his parent's signature to get permission to be employed. Abdul is the oldest (post college age), with Nat close behind (just finished her postsecondary program) and Brigitte behind her by months (still doing her postsecondary program). Carmen had one kid (Abdul) with one on the way (Brigitte) when she found Nat.

Gracias, Vivi :) The birth order you posted makes total sense. Natalia and Brigitte must have just enough difference in age to have been in different grades.

It's so funny that you mentioned back-to-back meetings....just as you posted your comment, Mr. 5ft was coming off a conference call.

Thanks, Vivi!

I still think Nat is super mature for her age. She's an old soul I think.

Thanks for the info Vivi.

Sara, yes Nat is thoughtful/pensive and I think she gets this from Irene. She knows she was adopted and the sacrifices Carmen made for her.

The Brat, soon to be the Traitor, has a sense of entitlement that make her very similar to Diana despite their backgrounds. I feel the unfairness is all in the Brat's mind and if you asked the others, I don't think they would say Nat is the favorite.

I find it interesting Al the lawyer doesn't allow the Brat to manipulate him and recognizes she's silly but still wants to be in the relationship. Why does he keep hanging around her?

Maybe it's her beautiful smile.LOL If only she had one!

I agree, JudyB, Brat is the emodiment of sourpuss. I really hope this is just good acting. Otherwise, this girl is destined to be a villana for the rest of her career!

And yes, Karen...what does Albogado see in her?? *eyeroll*

Sara, Sonia is the 13th victim of the Dead Pool Hit List of PSMA.
