De Que Te Quiero Te Quiero #50 and #51 5/14/14

De que algunos entienden, entiende

Hola amigas/os.  I played with Sara's title and if you haven't seen this yet you will know why....it seems an unteneable plot is about to be resolved.  I'm skipping the 7 minute rehash and jumping into the new.

Diego, Nat and the Brat arrive at Caprico and meet up with Irene.  She notices Nat is still cold to Diego and he doesn’t know what to do (because having a discussion about what’s wrong could resolve things, sigh).

Irma learns that Rod stole Lolita’s jelly but their laughs get cut short.  The doc comes in and she has left her bowl of food on Rod. Doc isn't happy and threatens to write up Irma.  This should be a warning for her but sadly it is not.
Diego comes in with good news about an order, he tries to kiss Nat, and she continues her coldness.  Irene gets a call from Alonso and they make a date for coffee after work.  She’s all smiley afterwards.  It’s really cute.

Diana convinces Alina to get a sedative to relax even though she’s supposed to be watching Diana.  Now, anyone with a brain should know what Diana’s doing here.  Though Alina clearly is as self-centered as her daughter, I hate the way her being a bad mother is connect to her job and excitement about her work.  Thankfully, Carmen also works so we don’t have to feel we’re getting a women should not work message here.

Alonso apologizes for being an immature idiot and then causes me (and the rest of you I’m sure) to sink into despair.  Unlike Diego and Nat, these two at least address the problem of Tadeo.  She explains his illness but Alonso wants her to stop seeing him, claims she only wants to help him because of guilt and wanting to be needed.  He actually tries to use his “professional” judgement to claim he’s being objective.  She says its very black and white for him and he says it is.  Can someone remind me does he know about their child?  Needless to say, they break up and he seethes.  I guess he’ll be going back to Karina, tonto!

Carmen and Luz are visiting when El (yeah) comes in and they chat about the new fonda. Carmen gets new recipes from Luz and leaves.

Nat and Diego meet in front of her house.  She doesn’t want to go anywhere private with him which is a huge problem.  In spite of all her bad signals, he proceeds to propose.  Nat turns him down and breaks up with him.  Of course during this “discussion” she never tells him what the real reason is for the break up.

Diana goes to visit Rod.  She tells him she knows he’s a rapist and that’s why he got beat up and has been in a coma.  He doesn’t respond and Diana gets security called on her (that was pretty great).  He now blames Nat and Diego for his poor choices but can’t figure out who Andres is. Meanwhile the nurses yell at Diana for leaving her room and Alina for not watching her.

Nat continues to be a frustrating tn character by not telling her mom what is wrong.

Diego goes to Alonso are both are dejected.  The Brat calls to find out what happened and poor unsuspecting Diego tells her they broke up.  She then calls Diana, treacherous heifer.  El wants to play dominoes but the boys want to use alcohol to deal with their problems.  Happy to report they don’t get drunk this evening.  Poor Irene reads Alonso’s great letter and wonders why he can’t accept her when this is a problem of HIS immaturity.

The skanks mess up the lock on Carmen’s fonda.  Really skanks.  The next morning the Garcia’s can’t open their fonda.  The locksmith tells them that someone put paper in the locks and that’s why they can’t open all the doors of the fonda.

Irene calls the office, she’ll be late.  She wants Nat to get the budget and the Brat is actually dumb enough to set up her account, where Diana will pay her, on the office computer.

Diana tries to convince Diego she’s recovered.  Thankfully he’s not that stupid.  Irene is late because she’s visiting Tadeo.  She agrees to be his administrator and she asks him to create the logo for her line, Esquema, which means dream in Zapotec.

El and his partner go to help Carmen and when lead skank, the Crab, sees El she agrees to serve him herself.  Carmen lets her know its on after the lock mishap.  El asks the Crab/Cheater if she had anything to do with the locks and she dodges the question by stating her food is great, no need for dirty tricks.

Rod and the nurse do the deed (!!) and he tells her she made him feel completely alive.  Although poor Irma better have a plan B because Rod earlier stated that he will play nice with her as long as it serves him to use Irma.

Irene arrives at the office and Nat finally wants to talk because she’s going to quit.  I’m kind of glad Irene lets her know her decision is very immature and she’s disappointed in Nat.  Nat later tells her bratty sister, who naturally calls Diana so she can get her money.  And just in case we thought Diana might not be as horrible as Rod, she tells the Brat to keep giving Nat the drops.  I guess we should all rejoice because I think the Brat would actually give Nat the drops if she hadn’t dropped them.

Nat goes back her new age friend and former boss, Angela.  Diego has to find out from the personal manager that Nat quit.  He goes to ask Irene que the heck.  She doesn’t know why either.  I wish this horrible plot would get resolved.  Nat talks more with Angela about Diego being a rapist but how she can’t talk with him about it because he’ll be in denial.

Alina goes home and gets Diego to come visit Diana.  Once she leaves Diana’s room, Diana decides to get laxatives.

Though the Garcia’s had been tripped up, this does not stop Carmen and they sell tacos on table outside the fonda.  The Crab keeps hitting hard on El and I cannot blame her for this

Alonso allows Karina in his office and she tries to play off that craziness as her being romantic...at age 10.  But Al she’s similar to vampires and other evil forces, NEVER invited them in because it will take divine intervention to get rid of them.  She quickly moves from the door, to the chair, to hugging him in his chair,.  Yeah, I told you so hombre.  Alberto interrupts and Alonso does not stop her when she says they reconciled.  Wow, Karina is so annoying I can’t understand why Alonso tolerates her at all.

Diego comes to the hospital just prior to Diana taking laxative.  Her stomach groans from all the damage she continues to do to her body and she tells Diego the baby is moving, so wrong on some many levels.  Both Diego and Alina doubt that the baby is big enough to feel movement.

The Crab’s plot backfired once Carmen’s fonda opened.  All the customers go to the Garcias and not the Crab.  Nat arrives at the fonda and Carmen tells her how she’s letting Irene down by quitting.  Nat is firm in her decision but for these 50 episodes we know consistency in decision making about Diego is not her strong suit.

The Als, the Brat, and Karina go to dinner and the Brat momentarily acts human.  Then she tells them all about Nat and Diego’s break up, she’s back.  Alonso then let’s the group convince him to go dance over the weekend.  Are these beanie moments for anyone else?  If I am not fond of someone and I feel he is into me, I don’t try to hang out with him, ever.  This madness continues with Alonso dropping Karina off at her job as she continues to hang on him asking him to dance with her this weekend.  He won’t stop this nonsense but thankfully her boss does.

Paolo’s weeny of a boss tries to get him in trouble with the manager.  His future girlfriend, Mara, lets the manager know Paolo was working hard and Ricardo “punished” him for no good reason.  Mara now must train Paolo and Ricardo gets dressed down by the boss.  As she tells him how to prepare the burgers, he makes a heart on one of the buns.  Awww.  Icky Ricky shows up and they act serious but then she tells Paolo her design is better; its an “M + P” on her bun.  Awww again.

Tadeo tries to draw but he’s hand won’t cooperate.  But for Irene’s sake he pushes on.

El plans to return to the Crab/skank’s fonda to see what she has planned.

Two beat cops try to tell Carmen that selling her food on the street is illegal.  She calls their bluff, calls their supposed boss, and they run away.  The skanks are not happy.  Later Carmen

Irma helps Rod walk and he complains about the two lost years of his life.  From our friend Carlos, NEXT.

Irene is having a bad day because she can’t seem to get her designs right.  She’s mad at herself for letting Nat’s leaving upset her.  Diego suggests she ask Nat to return and he’ll stay away from Nat.  Irene says Nat isn’t worth that.

The other skank calls Abdul and he proceeds to tell her everything.  He can’t be that dumb though Lupita’s questions to him let us know he’s not the sharpest tool in the tool box.  At least she seems to be falling for Abdul and her tia pulls a Gracie (from Robo) and head pokes her niece (though it wasn’t as hard as Gracie).

Carmen reams out El for being at the Crab/skank’s spot.  She’s about to leave when he stops her and tells her his plan.  She gets a call from Chato which makes El leave.

Diego seems to get a clue and viewers get reward after too many episodes not knowing about the evil twin.  He tells Alonso she realizes Nat start acting funny when he told her about Diana’s rape accusation.  As they discuss this, Alonso almost makes up for his continued stupidity with Irene and Karina by realizing:  Nat has been attacked, by someone who liked like Diego, oh wait that’s Rod and that’s why he’s been in a coma.  Initially Diego don’t want to believe that Rod is capable of this so he asks how could Nat have defended herself.  Almost miraculously the writers have Alonso suggests, in the same episode, someone helped her and then Diego realizes why Andres hate him so much and can’t believe Nat is with Diego.  I can’t believe (and am ecstatic about the possibility) that the “great misunderstanding” might be resolved this week!

This was hilarious, Karen!! And how lucky you are to get a whole lotta El. I'm kind of stuck on El(yeah) right now because whenever he makes an appearance I tend to say "Hell yeah" out loud. They rhyme.

I also love "treacherous heifer." Indeed. I actually hate her more when she's doing that fake nice crap.

Like you I am thrilled we are possibly concluding The Great Misunderstanding plot. I was pretty impressed with Alonso's deductions. Normally I would have found them all a little too convenient, but I think they did a pretty good job of it. I didn't need to adjust the beanie too much. I believed it.

Thankfully, Carmen also works so we don’t have to feel we’re getting a women should not work message here.

I think you've brought up something interesting. I guess the writers are still saying women should work, but Carmen owns a fonda. She cooks for a living...which is still considered a very "woman" task. So I'm not completely convinced the writers are pro-career girl.

Diana doesn't work.
Irene works---in designing women's wear (sewing)...and she even had to fight for that. If you think about it, she is still very dependent on the whims of a male (Grumps.)
Karina works in a coffee shop.
Nat was a secretary.
Alina, the only woman with a non-traditional career, is portrayed as selfish and a bad mother.

Meh. I'm probably over analyzing.

And I thought Irene *did* tell Alonso about the baby so he is being a double ass about Tad.

Excellent Karen! You covered all the events and emotions perfectly.

Like you and Sara, am thrilled about the big reveal that thankfully, appears to be coming momentarily.

"(because having a discussion about what’s wrong could resolve things, sigh)", "treacherous heifer" and "But Al she’s similar to vampires and other evil forces, NEVER invited them in because it will take divine intervention to get rid of them" were fabulous and among my favorites.

I always enjoy your insights including "Though Alina clearly is as self-centered as her daughter, I hate the way her being a bad mother is connect to her job and excitement about her work". Very well said.

“he makes a heart on one of the buns” and “ “M + P” on her bun”. “ Awww”. Totally agree Karen! Normally, I would have rolled my eyes but in this TN, for whatever reason, it’s downright adorable.

I have admitted I prefer Tadeo for Irene. What can I say? I love gray/silver hair and I think he is a kind man who always seems to give careful consideration to Irene, saying and doing what is in her best interest, not his. “She explains his illness but Alonso wants her to stop seeing him, claims she only wants to help him because of guilt and wanting to be needed”. Relationships are often complicated and it does not appear Alonso has the maturity at the present time to accept and deal with the many layers that are Irene’s life at the moment. His involvement with Karina is mystifying.

Sara, thanks for stating Al does know about the baby. I wasn't sure if he knew so the fact he did makes his behavior that much more diappointing.

Karen, wonderful job!

Diana

I'm not 100% sure, but I swear I thought she told him as part of her therapy.

I'm liking Tad a lot, but I fear his days are numbered.

Carmen Becerra (La Jaiba Loca) is reminding me of Lesley Ann Warren.

Karen- Excellent! I loved your snarky asides. :)

It is interesting about the working women thing. I think we need a few more examples to decide what the writers are trying to say about Alina. I really don't think it would have changed the story at all if she were a self-centered lady of leisure who did nothing but travel the world shopping, or a self-centered fashion designer. This lady is just self-centered, period. And her daughter, who has no career, is just like her.

I didn't see this epi, but I'm so glad to read that the Great Misunderstanding might finally be cleared up, and possibly on my watch tonight when I recap! Please let it be so!

I was not happy to read that Rod's little rod is already in use. Blech!

I now think there is no way Diana's baby is going to survive. This hospital doesn't seem very good at keeping tabs on their patients and their progress.

"...Rod's little rod..."

Hahahaha!

Vivi, I hope you are not right about Diana's baby not surviving.

I hope that this TN will not go that route! That is always so difficult to watch and very depressing. I'm trying to be optimistic although reluctantly admit it will take a miracle for Diana to start caring about her unborn child.

Diana

I'm undecided about Diana's pregnancy. On one hand I would not wish Diana on any child. On the other hand if the baby is born and Diana is out of the picture, I think Nat would love the child as her own.

Thanks Sara, Diana, and Vivi for you kind words.

Sara, I'm so with you on cheering every time there is an El sighting. It's just so beyond beanie time that Carmen is choosing between him and Chato. And I agree that the other women who do work, do traditional, read acceptable, work.

Diana, I'll admit I had been on team Alonso but his continued immaturity about Tad and Karina really make me have second thoughts. And if Sara is right about the baby, it just makes Alonso look like an spoil child that wants Irene only for him. And as you note, he has become a better character than he was (in Irene's story and at the beginning of the tn). I really hope he stays alive long enough to learn about Nat. Glad someone else like what could be seen as cheesy (Paolo and Mara) ;)

Vivi, little rod, ha! The true tragedy in this will be Irma because I think something bad will happen to her. ITA that the possibility of Diana's baby being alive is very small; her hospital stay has not helped at all.

Thanks, Karen, for that snappy recap
The highlight for me was , of course, the scenes with Eleazer. What a handsome guy.

There is something about Disndpa's eyes that gives me the creeps. This actress is very good at protraying a villain you can love to hate. Diana is such a spoiled, entitled girl. Like mother , like daughter. Both are selfish and self absorbed.

I , too, prefer Tad to Alonso. Considering that he is therapist, you would think that he would be less petulant about Irene's support of Tad .

Watching Nurse Horny buttoning up her shirt made me say Uff and Bleeccchhh.

It looks like the girls at the Fonda want to play dirty. Poor Carmen cannot catch a break.

That should be Diana's eyes...the Ipad and I are still fighting. It hates me.

Susanlynn thanks for stopping by and sorry your iPad is not being cooperate; isn't technology supposed to be our friend.

Though the other fonda skanks want to play dirty, Carmen is a fighter. And with the handsome El on her side, I'm sure they'll run them out of business soon.

I had to laugh at the nurse giving Rotten Rod a good scrubbing . HA. Rot scarfing down that bowl of soup was funny, too. He is ravenous in many ways after his loooong sleep. Randy Rotten Rod. preferred him in a coma. It is like a fairytale....the sleeping dragon has awoken..yikes. In Robo, we had another guy awaken from a coma after seven years...buff and tan. After a feeders knee bends, he was as good as new..no loss of muscle mass. his muscles were still bulging in his tight shirt. Que? Fairy tales !!!

Is anyone else bothered by Irene telling EVERYONE about Tad's brain tumor? I love her and she's great, but I feel like it's Tad's business, not Diego's, Alonso's, Nat's....

Feeders ??????...a few

Susanlynn--I was having similar thoughts last night about Randy Rotten Rod's coma. No feeding tubes? No vent? Fairy tales indeed.

"(because having a discussion about what’s wrong could resolve things, sigh)", "treacherous heifer" and "But Al she’s similar to vampires and other evil forces, NEVER invited them in because it will take divine intervention to get rid of them"

All such great lines, Karen. Have to admit you were the last person I'd ever expect to use the phrase "treacherous heifer" but wow! it was perfect. Brigette is no doubt redeemable, but Lordy! in the meantime, she's unbearable. I'm asking myself, if Carlos were watching this, would he be on her side. Hard to imagine.

Glad you brought up the Alina/work question because it has bothered me from the first moment it was introduced. Bad to be going off on digs. Bad to leave child with nanny. Nothing has been said to show her work is respected. And I don't know is this is just some rich woman's hobby or she's truly a competent archeologist. But the heroines, so far, seem to be stay at home moms or take your child to work moms. Here in Columbus, we have many Asians, running their own businesses, who bring their children into work after school hours, to either help out or sit quietly and do homework. Clearly, in the right circumstances, one can do both. But Alina would be a neglectful mother no matter what, I guess. And if Diana were my daughter, I might want to sign off also!

Ditto your complaint about Alonso's behavior being baffling and not true to life. Knowing what he does, and professionally trained as he is, his "black and white" approach to the Irene/Tadeo problem is unbelievable. Also, continuing interacting with the delusional Karina. Especially after he knows she lied about him taking a bath at her house. Stupid plot device for more romantic rupture.

Didn't see the second half but want to since there's more Marcelo Cordoba. I noticed his eyes were firmly fixed on La Jaiba Loca's inviting bosom in the restaurant scene. No doubt just following the director's instructions. Good lad!

Thanks Karen. Excellent recap. Lots of discussion points.

We really should keep a tally on how many times Nat quits her job at Caprico. I'm glad Irene pointed out how unprofessional that is.

Judy welcome and thank for your kind words. I picked up heifer from my Texan mother who lived in the country with cows, chickens and other farm animals.

Sara, ITA about Irene and the news about Tad. We know its not malicious and I might feel better if she had at least told them he doesn't want it spread about.

Vivi, yes Nat is being unprofessional but what's annoying is that she does have a legitimate concern (she thinks her BF tried to rape her). Her inability to articulate this real problem makes her seem wishy-washy and, to me, down plays treatment that seems to be normalized regarding women.

I think the fact that Irene told Alonso about the baby is a big reason that he's afraid of her continued connection to Tad. At the beginning, BECAUSE Tadeo had left her and an awful period in her life followed shortly thereafter, she always associated Tad with the most painful thoughts and feelings and ran to the bottle. After she sat and had a heart-to-heart with him (Tad) and talking through and sharing the pain, realizing that he felt it too, she is past all the hate she had for him and is now able to be around Tad comfortably. In Alonso's eyes, this is dangerous (for Alonso). He doesn't trust Irene enough to believe that she loves HIM and thinks that her feelings of love for Tadeo may be returning. The old "donde hay cenizas ... etc." So he does the stupid thing and will "pay her back" by taking up with Karina. He's foolish and immature, for sure ... and weak - he's letting Karina do whatever she wants with him. Not a spoiler, but those guys drink so much to drown their sorrows that I wouldn't be surprised if Karina winds up with a "drunk night" pregnancy!

Yikes! I hope not! Karina is scary to me too.

Muchisímas gracias Karen, great recap.

Beanie moment for me, Carmen can't get into the restaurant, where did the food, tables, chairs come from & how did they cook the food. Did I miss sth?

Alonso!!!! as cute as you are & in addition to being a shrink, you need one.

After 2 years in a coma, I really doubt Rod could do the deed.

Variopinta- I doubt Rod did much. He probably just lay there, with little Rod at attention, and let the nurse do the rest. And if Alejandro can go on a run through the streets of Buenos Aires moments after waking from a 7 year coma in Robo, then I can buy Rod being horny enough to, ahem...salute. :)

Vario--I thought they called a locksmith and I know they got a door open...

Does anyone remember?

They opened the kitchen door, but not the big one where the customers enter. They pulled out a table to set up and mostly everyone just stood around eating or took their tacos with them. They ran in and out getting the fixin's thru the narrow door - and sold out!

Tks for the explanation on the sidewalk cafe.

Alejandro, which I think is Sebastian Rulli was in a coma for 7 years???? How on earth can this based on the same story as Amor Real? Glad I decided to skip it.I don't care for SR or Boyer, but many others I do like.

Gracias, Karen, for the fun recap! Add me to the chorus of "ugh!" for Rod and Irma having their moment.
