De Que Te Quiero Te Quiero #74 and 75 US 5/30/14
Can it get any more frustrating???? The devil writers are indeed on your side you big Rod.
Eleazar (El) and Padre Juancho (PJ) explain to Natalia why they think Paolo is gay and is possibly in an inappropriate relationship (meaning age-wise) with someone. Paolo interrupts and is upset. He denies he's gay and seems more mad that El and PJ were spying and sneaking instead of being REAL MEN and being honest and talk to him face to face.
Meanwhile, the neighborhood chismosas feel the need to spread the "news" about Paolo to Carmen. She takes umbrage at their remarks. She takes a few chunks of hair from their scalps as well. Crabette #1 sees the fight and tells La Jaiba. La Jaiba calls the cops.
After Paolo leaves, Lupita asks the adults what is going on. They tell her it's "grown-up stuff." She innocently asks if it has to do with Marita, Paolo's girlfriend. Sheepish expressions were had by all.
The police take the chismosas and Carmen to the hoosegow.
Alberto tries to get in touch with Brigitte (Brat), but she and Rod are gettin' it on. When she deigns to answer she lies through her lemon-sucking teeth and tells him she was bathing. She sourly turns down his invitation to go out. She and Rod discuss how easily they lie to others and exchange sloppy kisses. She thinks they are made for each other.
Paolo walks the street and thoughtbubbles. He is mad and PJ and El. He sort of gets PJ's reasons, but he can't forgive El. How could he?
Irene goes to Alonso's to collect her things and Al begs for an explanation. They fight. Again. (This is getting old to me, but I assume it's because it was only Tuesday when they last fought and made up. Maybe if Uni wasn't scissor happy this relationship wouldn't seem so schizophrenic.)
For whatever reason, Gino is outside the delegación where they take Carmen and he sees them taking her in. He wonders why she could have been arrested.
In her cell, Carmen can't believe she's back in jail. She was just defending her son's honor!!
Gino asks at the desk about the woman with big green eyes. The policeman seems to really focus on the "big" part of the description and tells Gino that woman was brought in for prostitution. Gino is cara de QTH?
Irene is still pithed at Al and he's still uglycrying and begging (recapper's privilege card cash in.)
Carmen makes a fuss and tells her jailer she knows her rights! She's been in jail before and she gets a phone call! He releases her to make her call.
Outside, Gino cries about Carmen turning to prostitution. He blames himself for having left her alone (which seems at least a little more chivalrous an attitude than Chato's.) She even gave him a beautiful son! Porca miseria (really, he said that. I'm not borrowing from QPTR recaps.) He will pay her bail now matter the cost!! The policeman brings the prisoner with the big....boobies. Uups!!!
Meh, Jaiba busts moves on Abdul. She spills the beans about mom's altercation and arrest.
Gino "Don Italiano" Ricci pays bail again and this time he finally gets the right lady (the one with the big green eyes.)
Diego awakes and asks for water. Irma obliges (I was taking notes, so I'm assuming it's drugged.) He mumbles about his family and being confused. Irma makes notes about dosage and the time he was unconscious.
Carmen is released and is surprised to see Gino. He makes a comment about her being a prostitute and gets slapped for it. The clerk explains that a prostitute and Carmen were processed at the same time and that's why there was the confusion. Gino explains about being the boliche owner and Carmen realizes he's the guy everyone thought Paolo was being gay with. Carmen explains about that and Gino is also angry that everyone was spying, lying and implying (technically inferring, but I needed a rhyme.)
Al is drinking and trying to figure out where things went wrong. Recapper's rant privilege: WTH, dude? The woman you supposedly love is an alcoholic and you are drinking to solve your problems?...and driving, too??? I can't even...just...speechless.
Irene contemplates the hotel hospitality fridge. I cringe. She runs to the fridge and sees the lovely little bottles of liquid calvario. I scream at the TV. She grabs several bottles. I say a hail Mary (and I'm Jewish.) She opens a bottle. I cry a little. SHE POURS ALL THE BOTTLES DOWN THE SINK! Gawd I'm getting emotional and weepy-proud again just recapping it. GO GIRL!!! (Now if you could just something about the middle school, see-saw of a relationship you are in. Honestly girlfriend, is Al really the best person for you?)
Brat wants to go somewhere, but Rod prefers to watch soccer. Besides, their relationship is strictly a behind closed door affair. She really doesn't seem to get this. Rod says something about looking for another apartment?
Carmen and Gino catch up with each other. Paolo is the image of Gino's mom...which explains his coloring (Color him DARLING. Seriously, Pierre...I have a young lady I would love to introduce you to.) Carmen wants to know why Gino left her. Apparently the mafia made him marry some fat girl, but two years ago he came back to Tuxpan and Carmen was gone. The two of them agree they need to tell Paolo, but Gino worries Paolo will reject him (again, he's at least one more point ahead of Chato in this regard. Chato thought Lupita should be on board just because he donated 50% of her DNA.)
Rod is getting dressed after his tryst with a sourpuss. His phone rings. Thanks to the magic of editing we've jumped from Paolo thoughtbubbling in the street to being arrested for breaking into the boliche and Nat is calling to tell Rod about. Rod is confused and wonders what he can do about it. He tells Nat to call Alberto.
Carmen notices the missed calls from the boliche and Gino returns the calls...and that's how he and Carmen find out that Paolo is with the popo.
Paolo gives his statement. He explains what happened last episode with Jonas and the gang (Vivi's is better.) El is inclined to believe Paolo, but the other cop reminds him that Paolo is the only one with a copy of the keys and the locks weren't forced. Since the business doesn't have CC security, they will have to pull the footage from the DF's street cam. It could prove Paolo's innocence.
Gino and Carmen go to the delegación and Paolo finds out Gino is his dad. He is over the moon. Awww!
Go home, Al. You're drunk. (Oh lord I want to use that RPC, but I think this scene is going to come back to haunt us.) Al confronts Karina and asks what she said to Irene. Karina denies any wrongdoing and yammers about loving Al and trying to forget him. She tells Al she loves him and he actually asks "Really? You love me that much?" They smooch. (I bite my knuckles.)
El is introduced to Gino and Gino explains they already know each other from El's "investigation." Paolo gets mad all over again. Luckily, the arrival of the footage from the camera saves El. They need Paolo to see if he can identify anyone.
Commercial break thought prompted by La Gata: Maybe if Uni would promo the hell out of all the shows people would take more of an interest. (They used to be very good at promo-ing the next TN...but I guess that was when they actually PLANNED their programming and stuck to it instead of making last minute decisions based on ratings-induced panic.)
Paolo IDs Alfredo and recaps yesterdays episode again (Vivi's is still better.) Paolo seemed a little upset that Jonas just wanted to use him.
Paolo is released and the whole crew is at the delegación. Gino gets to meet them all. Natalia! Turquito! Lupita (scratching record sound effect.) Lupita does her Grumpy Cat imitation. So does El.
Irma injects Diego and the other nurse (Olivia) sees her. Irma explains it's vitamins the doctor prescribed. Olivia takes over for Irma. Later, Olivia notes Diego's low temp and calls the doctor to report his hypothermia. She asks him if it could be a reaction to the vitamins he prescribed. Of course he's confused and Olivia explains. When questioned, Irma denies and distracts him with caricias and affection.
More Uni edits. We are not privy to the scene, but Gino kissed Carmen and I think she liked it more (more than we can say about Chato's kisses...or kiss attempts.) She swoons to herself about it not realizing that Lupita and Paolo have each heard. Lupita does not approve, but Paolo is happy.
Tad comes to see Irene and again extends the invitation to stay with him. He's worried about her being alone.
Diego's heart is weak and his temp continues to go down. Olivia injects some meds and I realize I've missed something. When did she get the order to inject something and what is it? It must have been the scene when she called the doc.
Nat and Carmen can't sleep. Gino has captured Carmen's imagination, but she's still not sure how she feels. Nat can't sleep because she's
The next morning Al suffers the walk of shame. Karina is already up and playing happy home
Diego is stabilizing, but Doc orders more blood tests. Irma will have to take yet another sample from her nasty man arm.
Nat invites Irene to the pachangón they are planning for the grand re-opening of the fonda. They discuss Irene's latest break up with Al. Irene confides that she heard that Alonso takes advantage of his patients. Natalia actually INSISTS that Irene talk to Al about it. Natalia thinks Al deserves a seventh...I mean second chance and tells Irene to talk to him.
Rod talks to his fraud buddy about depositing the embezzled funds into his accounts. He'll text his account info. Irma calls him in a panic about the blood test. She's really concerned about keeping Diego in a coma until the deadline. Rod blows her off. She gets her blood sample and leave her phone. Diego wakes up.
Mara's mom is with PJ. We're missing a scene. After mom leaves, PJ asks Mara what's going on.
Diego flashes back to Rod telling him he's Rod and Rod is Diego and Nat is Rod's and not Diego's and Rod's going to marry her. (Clear as mud?) Diego realizes Rod wants to kill him and he grabs the phone. He struggles to decide on a number and dials...
...And Al's phone rings. PSYCH!! It's his secretary! There are patients waiting.
Diego sinks back into slumber...
Irma. Meds. Rod. (That's all I have in my notes. I don't remember the scene...)
Nat invites Rodiego to the fonda opening and he declines. Work is work. He'll try and finish and catch up with her at the fonda later.
Brat tries to talk Alberto out of going since she's working, but he digs in his heels. Carmen invited him and he doesn't want to seem rude. They agree to meet there. Ah! Ok. I bet she and Rod plan to sample the fabric.
Sad Al calls Alberto who talks him into going to the fonda opening.
Mara tells PJ about her man-hating mom and having to hide her relationship with her boyfriend. PJ tells her that no one, including her mom, has the right to lay a hand on her. PJ tells her she has a right to live like any girl her age. Mara starts explaining how they hid the relationship and PJ realizes she is Paolo's girlfriend.
Rodrigo goes to the hospital. When Irma leaves Diego's room, he wakes up and struggles out of bed.
Irene, Brat and Natalia have all decided to dress like the tablecloths.
Irma gives Rod a quick report. Luckily there was no drug interaction emergency caused by the drug she's using to keep Diego in a coma and the drug Olivia administered for the hypothermia.
PJ arrives to bless the fonda and he's brought Mara. Paolo is thrilled and he gives her a big smoochie in front of everyone.
Rod and Irma return to discover Diego is missing. Panic ensues. Irma tells Rod she told him so. The supervisor is coming and Rod needs to strip quick and get in bed (and not the way he would like it to be.)
Paolo introduces everyone to Mara. PJ has won some cool points!
The charge nurse tells Irma to stop locking the door and discusses Rod's weird case. He seems dead one day and the next day it just seems like he's taking a nap. The charge nurse is going to take a blood sample herself. Great. The blood is Rod's. Rod's drug-free blood. Wait. What should show up in a coma patient's blood? Any insights, David?
Paolo and Gino are going to have a bowling contest. They show off their flyers. PJ starts the blessing of the fonda. El's prayerful face is hot and now I feel guilty. Sorry, God.
Irma and Rod have to look for Diego!!
Everybody dance!! Gino asks Carmen to dance and El thinks the first dance belongs to the socio. While they preen and strut like roosters ready to duel for their hen, Carmen grabs PJ for a dance. Al asks Irene.
Diego hugs the wall and wanders the halls. He sees a nurse and asks for help. They've got him locked up. Irma shows up and I debate an RPC cash in...sigh, I guess I HAVE to recap it. I'm recapping under duress. Irma says she's from the psych ward and her patient got away from her. Diego's drugged rambling about wanting to see his abuelo and being locked up makes Irma's story believable and the other nurse leaves. Rod shows up and I'm cashing in that RPC.
Make that one more RPC cash in for the stupid let's make our partners jealous dance scene.
Rod makes inappropriate jokes about the punch and and sedatives. Irma was scared to death and Rod reminds her the devil is on their side.
Alberto innocently makes a transportation suggestion that leaves he, Brat and Nat leaving together and Irene being left with Al. (I missed what happened.)
Irma and Rod have a discussion about Diego needing 24 hour "care" and not being able to do that at the hospital. Oh. This.is.not.good.
Brat berates Alberto for leaving Irene and Al together. She doesn't think they should be together because of the age difference. I wasn't actually watching...did Alberto kind of start tuning her out and check his messages? That would be awesome. He tells them to listen to the weird voicemail message.
Al and Irene finally talks about what she thinks he did. He sleeps with his patients!! She heard two girls talking in the antro. He swears he didn't. He reminds her that he's always loved her and HE STOPPED HIS SERVICE AS HER DOCTOR WHEN HE REALIZED HIS FEELINGS WERE INAPPROPRIATE FOR A PATIENT. They make up. She tells him she's staying at a hotel, not at Tad's.
Alberto puts the message on speaker. We know it's Diego and even Nat swears it's his voice begging for help and explaining he's been drugged. Alberto and Brat think it's just some extortion attempt. Brat advises they ignore it. Alberto is going to call and report it.
Gino gives Paolo a car. Lupita goes right to El and asks what he plans to do. Gino even kissed Carmen! El joins the "porca miseria" interjection game.
Irene and Al start to make out, but his guilty conscious manifests a vision of Karina. Greeeaat.
I didn't catch the avances.
Labels: te-quiero
When will these people learn that they should ALWAYS consult Lupita? She's the only one with any sense left! "Oh, if we'd known, that would have saved us a lot of trouble!" Dudes...if you'd butted out, that would have saved you a lot of trouble. And I love, love, LOVE that Paolo snuck in a "not that anything would be wrong with it if I was" but he was most upset at the invasion of his privacy. Yes, Paolo, you deserve a rich daddy and half ownership of a bowling alley and a car and your sweet girlfriend...now you and Mara get in that car and drive AWAY from the drama!
"Irma. Meds. Rod." Lol! Well, yeah, that's pretty much all their scenes, isn't it?
I was right there with you when Irene found the little bottles..."No...no...no...NO!...YES!!!!!!"
Paolo's interrogation and the idiot cops "Yes, sir, the cameras on the street would clear this up. We'd just have to check them." "Then why don't you do that?" "Oh! Yes, sir!" And again, why is the head of Homicide dealing with everything BUT homicides?
"Nat can't sleep because she's engaged to Satan" hahahahahaha. Yeah. That needs to end soon.
"Make that one more RPC cash in for the stupid let's make our partners jealous dance scene." Oh yeah...really good call!
Loved your recap both in its depth and your snappy thoughts.
Boy, you all had fun yesterday naming Irma's 12 children, didn't you. Loved it.
Regarding blood tests, these would be done to check kidney, liver, and other organ functions, as well as blood levels of medications that are being administered. They would not be doing a full tox screen at this point, but would have during the initial diagnostic phase of a patient presenting in a comatose state (many coma patients get that way because of drugs or alcohol). They are checking venous blood vs arterial blood. You would use arterial blood to check for oxygen, carbon dioxide, pH and bicarbonate levels. The clip thing on Diego's left index finger is a pulse oxymeter which uses visible and infrared light pulses to measure the oxygen levels in the blood, making arterial sticks (much more dangerous than a venous stick) less necessary.
Sara, loved your "...Hail Mary (and I'm Jewish).
Side note: My wife is about as Catholic as you can be, but a few years ago her uncle did a family history study and found out that my wife's great great grandmother had been a Polish Jew who had converted to Catholicism due to political and social pressures of the time. Due to Judaism's matrilineal descent, my wife is Jewish, as well as our daughter and our twin granddaughters from our daughter.
I think my wife wouldn't mind being Jewish except that:
1)She believes in the divinity of Jesus of Nazareth, and
2)She is addicted to pork chops.
David
Hard for me to sit through this silly carnival so I keep one eye and ear on it as I go about my life so thanks Sara.
El - just give it up, the parade is a long one and you'll be a very old man before the last float passes.
Irma - viper blood is easily distinguishable from human
Paolo - megaball winner
Nat - dumb bunny
Rod - undeserved carte blanche
Diego - see what happens when you don't have a hall pass
Brigitte - smile dammit
Al - can't use drunk as an excuse
Karina - a score is a score
Irene - you're real issue goes unresolved
I just thought I'd post a quick note here on the most recent DQTQTQ forum, to all the Televisa people out there, in the hopes of giving you all a bit of hope for the future, and for what's all in store for us!
To whit, I've been watching 'La Gata' since it debuted here on Televisa (which for those of you who didn't already know, is what will be replacing DQTQTQ when it ends), and...... it's GREAT!!
It reminds me very much of 'Corazon Indomable' when IT first started... I don't know about you all, but I thought CI was terrific for the first 80 episodes or so, pretty much until Elizabeth Alvarez's Lucia died and the storylines went off in all directions (at that point, and afterwards, I thought it was utter garbage that wasn't fit to grace our television screens...). We're now 21 capitulos in, and everything and everyone has now been established quite nicely. Characters have been introduced and developed and the plot is thickening nicely.
There are quite a lot of things and little details that will immediately remind you that this IS a Nathalie Lartilleux production, but thankfully thus far they seem to be the better ones- good, quite engaging background music that instantly let's us know what we're supposed to feel- whether we're surrounded by the forces of good, or evil, or love, or suspense, or whatever, and lots of those automatic extreme-close-up shots of a character's face to show us how they're reacting.
Production values are high... the Martinez-Negrete (that would be the rich, 'Daniel Arenas / Laura Zapata' side) mansion is appropriately decadent, vast, and imposing (if a little sparsely furnished), and for the poor and indigent (i.e.- the 'Maite Perroni' side) who live together in a community of abject squalor, it was a stroke of genius to actually film the production IN a rather infamous, almost mind-bogglingly vast dump in Mexico (called the 'Bordo de Xochiaca'). This total realism plays remarkably, and really helps to reinforce the extreme difference between the two worlds than filming it from some staged locale ever would.
As to the adults, for me two stand-outs that I was not expecting are Leticia Perdigon- last seen as the nasty 'Matilde' in 'Mentir Para Vivir'- now in a role that's about as far away from Matilde as possible in her role as 'Jarocha'. Jarocha is the tough, feisty, vivacious, good-hearted, fiercely protective and loyal adult presence in Esmerelda's (Maite Perroni) life, and in the community of the dump. Sra. Perdigon is a delight, and her and her character's energy is infectious and pretty much jumps of the screen. You guys will like her!!
The other stand-out is Pilar Pellicer (who some of you may remember as 'Eva' in 'Triunfo del Amor') in the crucial role of 'Doña Rita'. Doña Rita has raised Esmerelda, and is the closest thing to a parent that Esmerelda has. But life has made Rita a hard and hard-hearted, cruel woman who feels she needs to do whatever she can to survive and get what she wants, and at anyone's expense. It's funny, I see a lot of parallel's between Sra. Pellicer's 'Rita' and Daniela Castro's 'Graciela' on 'Lo Que La Vida Me Robo', with the main difference being that her situation in life has turned Rita into the grasping, rat-like person that she is, whereas I think Graciela was just born an utter bitch. But both are masters at manipulation, and experts at being devious to further their own ends. Rita is definitely an antagonist, and the sole force of discord in the world of the otherwise, overall 'pure and good-hearted' people of the dump. And Sra. Pellicer- in her tattered rags, dirty face, and hair that looks like straw, is fascinating to both watch, and listen to. Rita is a very quick and scheming character, and Sra. Pellicer is excellent at how she uses her facial expressions, her hands and gestures, and her voice (which can go to a deliciously silky, sinister baritone).
Of course, we also have Erika Buenfil, but her character thus far is rather out-of-it (literally), and has as such not really featured much in the drama thus far. Sra. Buenfil DOES, it must be said, look appropriately heart-wrenching and pathetic with her matted hair, tattered rags, and little-girl voice, forever clutching a doll to her breast as she wanders about the dump.
Another character I think everyone will love is Mariluz Bermudez in her role of delicate, gentle, blind 'Virginia', the youngest of the three Martinez-Negrete (the rich folk) children. Sra. Bermudez does blind very well (so, it must be said, did the child actress who played 'Virginia' at a young age), and she looks perfectly like a porcelain doll, or an angel, or more likely a porcelain angel (which thus far could also be used to describe her character). I must confess that, before writing this, I googled Mariluz Bermudez to find out what else she had been in and, having gotten used to her and her sweet, kind, gentle, delicate, floral-frock-wearing persona as 'Virginia', I was jaw-droppingly KO'd when the page came up and under 'Images for Mariluz Bermudez' there were featured an array of these scorching, huge-titted, ripe-assed, 'Maxim Magazine' type bikini pictures. Put your clothes back on, Virginia!!!! (lol). We also have Jorge Poza, who thus far is appropriately slick and spoiled as the eldest Martinez-Negrete child, Mariano.
Now to their patriarchs...
Then we have Laura Zapata, an actress that I've always thought over-acts in exactly the kind of way that, lamentably, embodies and would appear to justify the hammy, caricature type of acting that, lamentably, a lot of English-speaking people and people not familiar with telenovelas sadly and derogatorily associate with the genre (I'm also looking at you, Maritza Rodriguez...). Well, thus far, I think you could say that she's doing quite a good job- none of her acting has made me clench my teeth yet, and I absolutely detest her Lorenza, while still looking forward to the scenes that she is in. Sra. Zapata does have presence, that's for sure- she's definitely a force to be reckoned with, and I think that's just as much because of Sra. Zapata and who she is as it is in terms of how the writers have written the part of Lorenza. This part definitely plays to Sra. Zapata's strengths, however, and in this regard the casting department should be commended. Stomping around her palatial mansion in heels and a fan, and possessing of a voice that could be heard 8 miles away, Sra. Zapata's Lorenza impressively commands every scene that she's in (as a bull would in a scene in a china shop), and I'm looking forward to her and her character hopefully plunging further into the depths of villainy (thus far, she's just a domineering, over-bearing, self-righteous elitist snob rather than being evil). To her credit, too, is that her Lorenza IS rather endearing when it comes to her obvious, overwhelming love for her family (it's whenever she's around anyone else that she becomes despicable). It also should be said, that Sr. Verduzco and Sra. Zapata work very well together... pretty much every scene that the two have together reminds me vividly of the two Macbeths.
And finally... for the leads.
Well, happily, thus far Daniel Arenas' Pablo doesn't seem to be nearly as mistifyingly, mind-bogglingly stupid as his 'Octavio' in 'Corazon Indomable'. His Pablo is immensely likable (much credit for this, too I think, should be given to the child actor who played Pablo when he was young, and who helped to establish in our mind's eyes the inherent goodness in Pablo and his love for Esmerelda) and, though I can already tell that Pablo is going to do some really STUPID things, unlike Octavio (who was an independent adult), it is easier to understand, if not forgive, Pablo for whatever his actions when considering the overbearing and overwhelming familial forces looming over, about, and around him. I also got a kick out of watching Sr. Arenas in scenes where he is studying at University in New York, where he'd initiate a conversation with whatever caucasian-looking fellow-student-actor he was engaging, in English that was so stilted that it was almost precious, before the two- mistifyingly- decided to continue their conversation in Spanish.
AND... Maite Perroni. I wasn't familiar with 'Cachito del Cielo', but her Esmerelda is certainly a lot feistier than Maria Desamparada in 'Triunfo Del Amor'. In a short (SHORT!), ratty, black shift, and black clomper-type ankle-boots, her Esmeredla assuredly swans her way through life and our screens, either ignoring, oblivious to, or refusing to allow the dire and pathetic hand life has dealt her break her spirit or harden her heart. I like this kind of lead for Sra. Perroni, and suggest that these feisty, spirited types of ladies play more to Ms. Perroni's strengths than do the love-starved, man-needing, tortured, victimized types of damsels. There's also a rather butch element to Esmerelda- no one is going to push HER around- which I'm not used to in Sra. Perroni's characters but that she does very well, glowering out at her offender through her vast mass of brown hair that looks in desperate need of conditioning, with her chocolate brown eyes. But I digress... whereas I'm usually completely ambivalent (or worse) towards whoever our 'heroine' is... I LIKE her Esmerelda, and that in itself is quite a statement and testimonial when coming from someone such as myself (who usually favors the villains and secondary characters- so many times I find the leads to be just so either cloying, innocuous, or just plain stupid that they become annoying). I think Sra. Perroni should ALSO be credited (as should Sras. Pellicer (Rita) and Perdigon (Jarocha) for not assuming roles that require them to be dirty, ugly, run-down, filth-ridden, and squalid (could you imagine Angelique Boyer in such a role?????). Anyway, Sra. Perroni is doing all of this and very convincingly while carving out a most likeable and believable character and I have a great deal more respect for her as an actor now as a result of it.
WELL! I certainly went on, didn't I?? I hope that some of you enjoyed reading this little (or 'not-so' little) introduction to 'La Gata' of mine, and found it to be helpful and useful to you as well! Best wishes to all, and have a great weekend!
:-)
I wrote that I felt that Sra. Perroni (as well as Sras. Pellicer and Perdigon) "should ALSO be credited for not assuming roles that require them to be dirty, ugly, run-down, filth-ridden, and squalid"
Of course, that 'not' should NOT be in there! Sras. Perroni, Pellicer, and Perdigon SHOULD be credited for assuming roles that require them to be dirty, ugly, run-down, filth-ridden, and squalid.
Just wanted to clear that up, there... My apologies! :-)
I'm on Team Tad. Alonso might provide the hot sex but he's too immature for Irene. He keeps claiming he doesn't want Karina but keeps entertaining Karina. Irene needs to let Alonso play with Karina (who is probably pregnant) and go be with Tad.
While I know there is a difference between our countries, the complete insanity of Irene believing that Al regularly sleeps with his patients is ridiculous; that gets your medical license revoked.
It seems Karina and the Brat are taking Diana's place as villains and Karina's face when she vowed Al would love her was a happy crazy-nut as opposed to Diana's evil crazy-nut.
This was simply amazing. What an awesome job you did!
"She takes umbrage at their remarks. She takes a few chunks of hair from their scalps as well", "she lies through her lemon-sucking teeth" and the spectacular "Irene is still pithed at Al and he's still uglycrying and begging (recapper's privilege card cash in)" have made my day.
Kat, I was cringing and yelling along with your Mr. 5ft. Ack. What a depressing episode.
When Al was pitifully leanig on the railing trying to pathetically get away, I was screaming at the nurse to help him! Seeing Irma and Rod recapture him was heartbreaking.
That said, tofie I have to admit I did laugh at "Diego - see what happens when you don't have a hall pass". Believe me, I won't leave without one from here on in if I'm ever in that position...Acck.
I also laughed at "It seems Karina and the Brat are taking Diana's place as villains and Karina's face when she vowed Al would love her was a happy crazy-nut as opposed to Diana's evil crazy-nut". Excellent Karen.
I am so done with Al. Sleeping with Karina? Really?? Yes, I am very afraid the pregnancy card will be played here. Al should have told Irene. She likely would have broken up with him but finding out later will be far worse.
Tad, I was in your corner from the start! Make your move man...
David, thank you for all the interesting information you provided...Stevey, thank you for the LG info, it does sound intriguing.
Sara, you outdid yourself. Thank you, thank you.
Diana
Starts out exactly like CI, only Maite has replaced Ana Brenda. AB is a much better actress. Those Mejias don't have a lot of imagination, different location, different main actress, same mierda.
What cliche number are you on?
Let us know when you give up & why.
Hang in there.
Karen- I think you are right. For some reason anger seems to bring out my snark, but then I feel bad because I don't like to spread my negativity.
Thanks for the info about La Gata, Stevey! I plan to at least try to watch. I hope it's just replacing the second hour of DQTQTQ and that Uni is not trying to get through some 100 episodes by June 23rd.
He looks much better with curls
http://www.peopleenespanol.com/article/carlos-de-la-mota-estrena-el-video-de-lo-que-siento-por-ti-video
Thanks so much Stevey. I don't know if I'll be watching La Gata though your review does tempt me. It seems we have to check the ratings to see if Uni will allow the whole tn to be shown as is the case here.
Sara, I see your anger more as venting a collective frustration many are feeling. It is similar to what a blogger, who sadly hasn't posted for a while, said (it's in the header) "We love to mock here, don't mistake it for real hate." -- Chris Ferro So your snark is playful mocking not true hate though we all hate Rod.
A tn can have so many things going for it and then because of plot "development" or genre convention can turn complicated characters into idiots or have people make completely irrational decisions. And if they are not good characters, we can have a field day (many but one of the best was El Talismán). This is just a long way of saying don't let yourself become guilt-ridden b/c you think your spreading negativity when its laughter and fun!!
tofie, I am dying laughing with the "hall pass" business!
Stevey, thanks for the amazing info on "La Gata". I don't know, but it looks and smells like CI.

Thanks for your detailed rundown of La Gata. I don't plan to watch it, but I wanted to mention that I noted your comment that you credit Maite Perroni for taking on the dirty street-urchin character. Unfortunately, it's nothing new for her. She played the dirty, SHOELESS street-urchin Marichuy in "Cuidado Con El Angel". And thought I find Maite Perroni's acting enjoyable at times, I must agree with Variopinta that Ana Brenda is a MUCH better actress. Sadly, Maite does not have much range. Worse still, it is a FACT that La Gata and Corazon Indomable are basically the same storyline - same original writer (Ines Rodena) and same team of hack pseudo-writers "adapting" - and by "adapting" it I mean "cutting and pasting".
Thanks for a fabulous recap. I missed the better part of last night's three chopped-up episodes (only saw the first half hour and last 20 minutes), so thank you for helping me make sense of it.
From what I understand the Mexican ratings continue to improve on La Gata, but we know ratings don't necessarily reflect quality.
I am not so frustrated by the events in DQTQTQ as they way Uni is editing. PSMA was edited, but I never felt like it destroyed the pacing or that I was missing something (not just plot, people too.) With this I feel like the pacing is screwed up and I'm missing out on Paolo, Abdul, Tad and Irene, Mara and maybe others. Does that make sense?
I have to quote my favorite line, " El's prayerful face is hot, and now I feel guilty. Sorry , God. AMEN. Right there with you saying a few Hail Marys as I lust in my heart. what-as face...and that beautiful, thick hair. Marcelo just gets better looking with age...like fine wine. I must admit that I think El and Irene make an attractive couple. The two actors played close friends in Pasion and had great chemistry in those roles.
The Drugged Diego storyline is getting muy frustrating, and I am getting very tired of Rodiego's sneering , smirking face.

Fatima, I too have been scratching my head on the upside for Irma's continued involvement in this. Rod ain't no prize and she knows he has other women so it's not for love and so far it doesn't seem she has received a big payday and so what he barks and threatens all it would take is one call. To lose her career and be imprisoned, much less the down right torture of a healthy faux patient, when she is in a caregiver position. Nasty, nasty, nasty.
Susanlynn-"Prince Nowhere Near Charming" Ha!! I love it!
Corazon- I agree completely that Maite was great in Cachito. It didn't get a workup here and I assume it didn't get huge numbers in the afternoon slot, but I really liked it.
I read about the engagement dinner party & I believe they cut a funny scene. Nat is eating escargots & one goes flying & hits Grumpy in the face. As you can imagine Grumps was grumpy, everyone else laughed.
Did anyone see that?
Fatima & tofie, Susanlynn & Sara are correct about Irma. There is no good reason for her to continue this nonsense with Rod.
Variopinta that was edited out of the US version.
Diana
Susanlynn, "Prince Nowhere Near Charming" That is excellent! We have to save that one, for sure. :)
Sara, thank you for reassuring me that I had good reason to wonder about Nurse Irma. I was beginning to wonder if something had been edited out and I had really missed it.
Karen, amiga, I wished you a Feliz Cumpleanos over on the "Robo" side. My birthday was last week, so I bet we are both Geminis!! Like our wonderful Diana, I, too, wish you a year of happiness, good health, and remember, "when you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are"! May your dreams come true.
Fatima
P.S., Susanlynn, I loved "Tories"!!

First off, YAY for Carla Estrada's regreso!
Second, I can't wait for Leticia Calderon's villain in Maleficio but on HER wiki page, it says she will be Azela Robinson's character in the El Manantial remake. (I take this info with a grain of salt since there was at one point a novela by Mejia Alejandre with Danna Garcia and TBLMOE as the stars on the page but apparently it's no longer there. Also, Lety said she's taking a break. She's learning French, taking a cooking class and spending time with her kids.)
Third, yay for Mr. Levy-Gorgeous-Behind's new novela if it turns to be real!
Fourth, I hope the best for JDC and Zuria as the leads! JDC has proven he is capable with DQTQTQ and his over-time redemption in UFCS. (Sadly, RodFace and Yago say otherwise. However, YagHo is the lesser of 2 evils since I remember when Kimodo Dragon who was at #2 on the excitement list tried poisoning his dad and he disposed of the tainted coffee LOL)
Fifth- Just when I was getting used to Cynthia being a good guy!
Sixth-Gutierritos, Isn't Itati a little old for Jose Ron? Although she doesn't have to be his leading lady LOVER, I can hope for the best. Harry Geithner has proven to be a SUPERB villain. In Libre Para Amarte, he made Edgar Marino look like a saint! I cherish his gentleman lead role in La Santa Muerte however.
7th, Contigo Asi- I hope it doesn't turn as controversial as Quiero Amarte did with denying us of Lovin' Scenes. I mean everyone trash talked as Karyme for her newfound conservativeness and if you rewatch Amar Sin Limites (which has been branded stinky among us Caray Caraymites) she did everything sexually possible with Valentino Lanus but eat him alive! You can see her breast in the very theme song!
8th-Secretos de Verdad as a title is reminding me of Mentir Para Vivir. Hmmmm....
9th Viva La Pepa, oh what a title! and by Lucero Suarez. I expect stellar villains and beautiful scenery and material!
I hope for the best!
Another yea for Carla Estrada & also Carlos Moreno. A boo for Salvador Mejia.
Please forgive me if this is Debbie Downer-esque, but I hope we get to to see most of these upcoming shows....and that we get to see UNEDITED VERSIONS of them.
I was all interested in ECDLP, but Uni hasn't mentioned it for the prime-time line up. They have only announced La Gata, Hasta El Fin del Mundo, Mi Corazon es Tuyo and La Malquerida.
Of course, that means nothing. As I mentioned in my rant...er recap...Uni just sort of flies by the seat of their ratings-chasing pants.
Gabriel Soto is an ok sidekick but I don't think he is a very good actor.
Finally Marcelo Cordaba as the lead, & with Carla Estrada!!!!!
Cristian de la Fuentes returns with a good producer also.
Of all you posted, La Sombra del Pasado has my keenest interest first and foremost because of Susana, and close behind, Cynthia and Alexis. I like Gabe Soto! He was good in La Verdad Occulta which continues to be one of my top 5 favorites.
Also nice to see Harry Geithner will be in something up and coming.
I wasn't enamoured of Iván Sánchez in LT and can't quite see him as a leading man but will have to see.
Diana
I like Gino. I don't think Carmen should get involved with him, and I worry about his mob ties. But, unlike Chato, he is very sincere.
Will we meet the Brat's papa next? It seems we are going in reverse order. I hope all the other kids' dads secure their futures (Lupita has her fat bank account from Chato and the apartment in her name; Paolo will inherit Gino's business), and that the Brat's dad turns out to be a penniless, starving French artist or something.
Obviously, I am just now reading through all the comments (backwards). :)
Where are the missing novelas?
Quiero Amarte with CdlF & Karyme Lozano was supposed replace Mentir para Vivir. Maybe Karyme dropped out, she got religion, so possibly couldn't take the heat from CdlF.
Was supposed to be followed by La Malquerida.
Libre Para Amarte with Gabriel Soto & Gloria Trevi (didn't know she was a TN actor). Supposed to replace PEAM Was supposed to be followed by Que pobres tan ricos.
Corazon- I some of the ones you posted won't come to be any time soon, since some of them (like the Carla Estrada ones) have been on Televisa's pre-production list for a long time. But perhaps she will finally get one off the ground in the coming year.
Lupita has/will have Chato's bank account;
Paolo has/will have Gino's businesses
Natalia has/will have:
a) part of the Caceres fortune, through Irene/Amalia and through Diego should they ever marry;
b) Tad's fortune
All that's left is Abdul's dad and Brigitte's dad. Abdul's dad will probably turn out to be some wealthy merchant, leaving Brigitte's dad to leave her broke.
And the thing is, all of Carmen's kids except Brigitte would love their dads even if they were broke (except Lupita...she only wants Eleazar as her dad!).
