Que Pobres tan Ricos #104 May 30, 2014. Reluctant appologies, reluctant promises, forced celebration speeches and one overdue reunion.
Once Tizoc and Perla hear about the million dollar clause, they barge in the room, Tizoc/Perla vs Frida/Leo. Leo and Frida claim that Tizoc and Perla have invaded ‘their’ property… Tizoc and Perla respond with insults of their own. MA is stuck in between the doubles debate match.
Trofeo promises the guy everything is alright. Guy leaves. Nepo compares himself with one banana, MA is another, and Nepo now is assuming the gringo the other guy was talking about is none other than MA.
Chuy and Mati come up to the debate… Leo and Tizoc get more offensive. Frida intervenes and Perla sees her open door to throw some more insults. MA tries to settle things, even says he is angry he is sibling of Frida/Leo. Chuy says similar of his ‘children’. MA tries to get AS to say something… ‘Salud!!!’
At office, Mini and Isela… Mini doubts if Alejo knows Lupe is with MA. Isela suggests find out what Alejo knows and then use it in OUR favor. Mini says there are priorities…
AS sleeping now, MA calls Leo and Frida over. In front of Mati, he tells them that he can’t believe how they behaved with Tizoc and Perla Ivette. Mati repeats, she hopes she will never remember where the papers are. MA tells her she was right when she said those documents bring out the worst in everyone. Mati says right, that money brought about the worst. Maybe that was a way from Abuelo to put them to the test. If he were alive, he would be ashamed of the situation of his family, he would die all over again rather than watch them fight for money. MA says he loves how she talks about the abuelo… Mati says it is a family tradition to honor his memory, even the board members at the company do it. Mati asks Frida and Leo to go find the Menchacas and not to return until they have apologized to them. MA and Mati end up alone. She tells MA he is her support… she now remembers how she would have wanted him to be there at Aureliano’s funeral. MA feels guilty he was not there. Mati says don’t feel bad, the past is over. She remembers a discussion with Aureliano when he had kicked MA out. Aureliano swearing he did it for MA’s good. She protested that MA went alone and pennyless, how can that be good for him? Aureliano says he will mature not depending on our money, one day he will returned a gentleman. He has to work and grow to feel proud of himself. As a father he was not what his children could be, but MA will be the best of RPs, no matter what it costs…the end will justify the means. Mati comes back to present, tells MA that Aureliano, with his rights and wrong decisions, always wanted the best for MA. She can assure him.
Downstairs Carmelita tells Chuy that she knows Tizoc and Perla did not have the right approach, but the RP deserved some ranting. Perla complains that Frida called her ‘gorda’… Chuy says me vale!! You have to go apologize!
Lupe and Tomas are walking back. Tomas is giving Alejo the benefit of the doubt, maybe he wants to do things the peaceful way. Lupe says don’t trust Alejo. We have to be careful about revealing that Mati is living with us and that MA is looking for some papers about the house that his granddad left behind. Nepo arrives, is startled, wants to tell Lupe that MA is being pursued by police, for murder charges.
Tizoc and Perla are still ranting walking around the house, down come Leo and Frida, Chuy comes out and forces Tizoc and Perla to apologize, Tizoc just stares mad.
Lupe tells Nepo that MA did not commit fraud or even less kill anyone. Nepo warns her that as soon as the police find out he is at La Nopalera, her whole family will be dragged along.
Tizoc, Perla, Frida and Leo commit to try to get along, and acknowledge that they all went overboard. Frida and Perla shake hands, Tizoc and Leo join the ‘all for one, one for all’ handshake, even if reluctantly. Tizoc ends up whistling the final clauses… Leo follows the lead, they all end up laughing.
Lupe tells Nepo for the 3253th time that she never betrayed him because she never promised him anything. Nepo tries mocking MA’s situation, Lupe rants back asking for respect… Nepo recommends to her to not get her family in legal trouble. Lupe insists MA did not do anything… Nepo says then how come MA’s fingerprints were in the gun. Lupe says the gun issue will be clarified sooner or later. She begs him not to tell the cops where he is… Nepo sighs in disgust.
Chuy chatting with Carmelita, he is so glad the kids made amends. Carmelita is happy too Thank God. Chuy says he knows they are young, it is good theymessed up but have the humility to realize. It is one of the worst things you can do, to think less of others just because they did not agree with you on something.
Lupe and Nepo still arguing outside, she keeps begging Nepo that for the love he says he has always felt for her, to keep quiet. Nepo says she wrinkles his heart… he promises not to tell. She makes him swear it. But not for him, for you and for your family, so they won’t suffer the consequences.
At Editorial, Alejo talks with Vilma… He is mad talking to Vilma about spending money celebrating the birthday of the Abuelo. She has already taken care of the details and the errands. He rants ‘if you already took care of it, then why do you ask me about it??’ Mini comes in, she wants to talk to Alejo, waves the white towel (I mean, the white handkerchief).
MA and Mati, she tells MA that Alejo won’t suspend the birthday celebration, since he would not be able to get on the dark side of the Board members. MA brings back the documents. Maybe you now remember where you put them. Mati insists she can’t remember.. MA keeps whispering the ‘papers’… fideicomisooooo…
Mini brings up the subject of Emiliano’s mom… do you know if she has a love interest? Alejo is not amused that she is trying to poke information from him. He turns it around on her and ‘her mother’ who are ‘nacas’. Mini rebuttes calling him a toad and calls Lupe a ‘quesadillera’. He shoos Mini out of the office. She prays to God to liberate her from this impotent rude jerk.
MA and Lupe… MA is not so sure nepo will rat him out. Lupe says he won’t. Nepo can be stubborn but she believes in his word. MA asks Lupe if she believes him when he says he is innocent. Lupe says of course I believe you. Not only be cause I love you but because I know you would never hurt anyone. MA says he wishes everyone would agree with her… if only.
At the cops office… the case is now in the hands of another agent since the Gomez couple is out on leave. Corrado (the other guy that was working on the case) is leaving/retiring. They new cop starts to review the box of documentation that Corrado left with him.
MA tells Lupe that he feels he is not safe anywhere… Lupe tells him that with all the pain in her heart, she feels it is time for him to leave La Nopalera. MA would not leave to protect her from Alejo, he is so angry with everything Alejo is doing to her. Lupe says you have to calm down. If you lose your head, who will win? Alejo. (she is so right)
Isela is taking selfies with one huge vase…(how low can she fall?) Mini comes in, Isela says she would make it as a magazine model but she just doesn’t feel like it…
At penthouse, Leo and AS are laying on bed, they are talking to Frida. AS says it is her birthday, she feels older and to top it off, in ‘porca miseria’. Then AS goes haywire saying in her last birthday she received the visit of ‘the President’ (Leo clarifies it was some corporate president). AS says it was also the Pope there. (Frida says it was not the Pope, it was the archbishop) AS insists everyone of them came to celebrate her, AS R of RP… Frida states that what is important is that they are all together. AS has fallen asleep.
Saul and MA at the cafetin… Saul reminds MA he is still a fugitive… he will find out if there is an official warrant for MA for the murder of Adolfo. Are you nervous?? What do you think??
Tizoc comes down to Emiliano at dining room. Tizoc is excited he will do an audition today for that representative. Frida keeps trying to keep his feet grounded. Tizoc says the guy already heard them and loved their sound… Emiliano leaves. Tizoc asks Frida not to downtalk him in front of his nephew, he is a hero in Emiliano’s eyes.
At platanero stand, Nepo has the blues and is talking to Trofeo about his feelings. Trofeo says when MA is discovered, things can get haywire. Nepo says be quiet, he promised the woman he loves to be quiet. In comes Gwendy asking what woman he is talking about. Nepo is not telling her. Trofeo asks him why didn’t he tell. Nepo wants to keep his promise. He does not believe MA capable of shooting anyone. In any case, we need to be careful.
Frida talks to Tizoc at Fonda, she tells him to just keep his expectations in check. Tizoc assumes she is just jealous… You will see that I will be in magazines and have records and you will be telling yourself ‘I had the chulo Tizoc’. He keeps telling her she will see his face on TV.
At kitchen, Lupe, Chuy and Carmelita…they are realizing it has been a year since they opened the restaurant. Lupe says been so busy I had not noticed the date is here.
Frida and Leo tell Mati that AS is so depressed all she wants to do is drink and sleep. Mati says she hoped AS would feel like finding something she could be useful in. But we all know she did everything she could for Leo to become ‘conde’ and get us our of poverty. Noone forced her to do any of that. She is no victim, Mati is not feeling sorry for her, she asked for what she got. What you all should do is take care of yourselves and each other. What about you Fridita? When are you going to take on the studies again? Frida says now we live at Nopalera. Mati says ‘so what? You do for yourself and don’t pay attention to what your school friends say, if they don’t support you then they are not truly your friends.’
At recording studio, Tizoc’s band is doing their audition. New song about her being unreachable… the song is decent although a bit mono-tone. They agent guy is cheering for them very energetically after the song is done… The road is long and success does not get her overnight, but everything looks great. Surprise! The agent guy’s last name is the same as Tizoc’s keyboard guy. They are all surprised and confused.
At a fine restaurant with a portrait painting of Don Aureliano, Alejo and the Board members are celebrating the anniversary of The Abuelo’s birthday. Alejo says some yada yada to toast to the Abuelo. The Board president says his words were beautiful. And some yada yada of his own about the memory of the Abuelo. Alejo rebutes with some more yada yada wording… Another Board member notes that apparently the clause stated by the Abuelo will not be fulfilled. Neither MA nor himself have had a child from legal marriage. Another member continues saying that in the end, thus, it will all be split among the members of the Board. Alejo says not so fast, you might have a surprise coming sooner than you think. Salud!
At the studio, they realize that the kid and the agent guy are cousins… Tizoc asks then if you have such a fine surname, how come you live at La Nopalera. They kid says he heard from his family that they used to be well off but they all lost the fortune long ago. He did not believe them at the time but now he does.
Alejo is getting in his car telling Vilma he is heading to the office. MA confronts Alejo ‘Adolfo Giron was killed in a parking lot like this, right?’

Thanks, Marta. The recap was great. Sure seems like Lupita has told Nepo at least 3,253 times how it is. Very funny.
For me the funniest part was Isela looking like she was taking selfies but then it turned out that she was really taking a picture of that big vase that did not go with the decor (according to her). She had found some classified ads where she could post a photo of it and sell it. When Minerva heard that $$ were involved she got interested.
I liked finding out the background of don Aureliano and why he pushed MA out of the Ruizpalacios nest.
Too bad Nepo had to find out about MA. He cannot be trusted no matter what he promised to Lupita.

I loved that back flash with Don A, I also like the actor playing him, and didn't Mati look fab in her duds and her hair? They made such a good pair.
I had to laugh at Ahole after he left the meeting with the "Zombies" and said they would all be going back to their sarcophaguses now, lol. That was too funny.
Yeah, AS is going to have to grow up. She's like a little kid that couldn't have her cake and eat it too. Pobrecita, not! She needs to stop the drinking and DO something.
I am glad Mati had that talk with Leo and Frida. Frida does need to go back to school, and Leo, he needs to be doing something too, instead of hanging on to Mama's dress all the time. He's not an idiot.

Madelaine - How about Tato (Teto? What is his name?) for Mini. He's rich and, being young, should be able to put out a little more energy in the bedroom than Alejo did.

When I think about this show, I think of it as a real true light comedy, but when I think about how Alejo just cold bloodedly (I think that's a new word I just made up) killed Adolfo, then it kind of takes the shine off of the lightness of it.
AS is making me despise her all the more. I'm not sure what it will take to get her to leave her pity party now.

Nepo was so cute with that banana-illustrated explanation. First he picked up a large banana and named it Miguel... but then thought better of it and picked up a smaller banana naming it Miguel Ángel and saying that the larger banana represented himself.
Doesn't Isela have a very nice figure? Unfortunately the voice doesn't match.
I'm really getting worried for AS. She is really beginning to lose touch. That little flask is like a clown car, the booze just keeps flowing out no matter how much she sips.
I loved the little makeup session between the kids although I barely understood a word. It looked to me like they cracked themselves up.
I had to smile when Mati told MA that Auriliano wanted him "...to work and grow to feel proud of himself."
He needn't have worried... at the beginning of all this MA reminded us how proud he is of himself every chance he got.

Nepo was so cute with that banana-illustrated explanation. First he picked up a large banana and named it Miguel... but then thought better of it and picked up a smaller banana naming it Miguel Ángel and saying that the larger banana represented himself.
Doesn't Isela have a very nice figure? Unfortunately the voice doesn't match.
I'm really getting worried for AS. She is really beginning to lose touch. That little flask is like a clown car, the booze just keeps flowing out no matter how much she sips.

Carlos, when I watched the banana illustration, I didn't notice the banana's sizes, but one was more ripe than the other. He switched to less ripe banana for the more ripe banana to represent MA. Then he tossed the more ripe one to Trofeo to eat.

Thanks for the tidbit about the bananas skid of Nepo and Trofeo. I knew there was something weird about him holding the banana and then switching them but I guess I was typing and only hearing the scene... so i missed the visual cues... LOL thanks for posting that.

I liked that talk Mati had with Frida and Leo. It seemed like she was talking sense into them and they were actually listening. Even Leo! Will wonders never cease?

When Tizoc was spouting about how he'd be rich and famous and Frida would be remembering how they used to be a thing, he reminded me of that song "Gives You Hell" by All-American Rejects. Maybe his band should do a cumbia cover of that. Their recording thing seemed to go well. Even Emo Bassist was happy!

It was great to hear more about Don Aureliano and his intentions toward MA. Earlier days, with Mati a little younger, added more background. I think I want Mati for my Abuela. She has kind eyes and a sweet smile.

Cathyx, I disliked that Adolpho was actually murdered in this show as well. Hopefully, this trip to the dark side is a journey the show won't take again.
I'm not really sure what a face to face meeting between MA and Ahole could accomplish. I guess I'll have to wait to see.
I wonder if the agent guy will try to make his relative the headline bandleader instead of Tizoc. It will be interesting to see where this new development goes.

I wonder why Aureliano only picked MA to try to make a decent person. Were Leo and Frida too young when he died for him to be concerned about how their mother was spoiling them?

I too was stunned when Adolfo got whacked. I thought there might be a murder or two before the end of the story, but I wasn't expecting one so soon. I really thought Adolfo had at least a few more weeks in him!
I wonder if the murder was part of the original plan for this TN, or if it was added to make it easier to plausibly extend the story. (I am assuming that it's running longer than originally intended.)

I was surprised by the murder, too. I like it better when the villains aren't quite so successful at their villainy. Even if the dead guy was a villain, too. I don't want another "comedy" like Porque El Amor Manda! If anyone starts abusing children or whacking innocent bystanders, I might have to quit watching. Fortunately, I don't think this producer is quite so psychotic.
