Que pobres tan ricos #94 Several characters are (or fake being) lost in translation... MA finally spills the beans to Nepo, who has a double-edged reaction
CHuy tells Lupe the payment would be that the RPs leave the house for-eva. AS would take them to Spain.
MA tells Frida and Leo and AS that they all will be kicked out of the Menchaca house. AS doubts it, in any case they would be moving to Spain soon. Leo swings his arms with the options. Frida mocks them on that plan. AS calls MA over to tell him that Frida is mocking her. She calls him again to tell him she will borrow money from Solomon. She calls him over again to remind him that Solomon is NOT her novio. She has to deal with such a disgusting and materialistic man. See what your ma-ma is capable of doing, your ma-ma, the being that gave you life. Leo reminds them that the parents of the bride would end up paying for the wedding in the end. Everyone knows that. Lupe knocks the door to let them know the Menchacas have arrived at a sentence (ehem… decision regarding whether to help them with the wedding).
Gwendy and Saul make plans for the night. Gwendy tells him that El Mike and Carm went out. She ends up giving him a free facial massage…

Chuy tells them he is heading to the market to get the supplies for the food. AS is disgusted… to the m a r k e t ?? … The families great each other as two sports teams do at the end o the game… The Menchacas cheer as team and MA is among them (not with the RPs)…
At Gwendy’s Saul suddenly has a strawberry cream all over his face and some hair tips foils on his hair. Saul has his eyes closed, they are talking about the type of men Gwendy likes. Gwendy has colored his hair red!!! When Saul opens his eyes, he goes beserk… what did you do to me Gwendy???!! Gwendy says if Ricky Martin saw him he would propose matrimony to Saul! Saul tells Gwendy she is NUTS!!! Saul runs out.
Lupe and MA alone at fonda… she tells him that Chuy and her tried to talk some sense into Emiliano to no avail. Chuy comes by, says he had agreed that MA would come in only for the business deal, Chuy wants MA to leave right now… MA is not going to argue against it… Chuy agrees to give them 5 minutes.
MA goes to talk to Emiliano. MA tells Emiliano he is looking for MAti. Are you mad at me? MA finds Mati… or Mati finds MA talking to Emiliano… Mati wants to talk to Emiliano about the subject MA was talking to him about, but Mati wants to talk it over with Emiliano later… alone… For now don’t talk about it to anyone else. Agreed? Sure Abuela. Emiliano leaves them, MA says Mati saved him, he did not know how to respond. Mati says no worries. She will talk this through with Emiliano later on.

They talk about possibly Tato coming… Tizoc says no sweat, you are shaking for ‘Miguelito’ (me). They kiss… he suggests they roll in the sheets again… she says she is too busy with school. He protests, she says he should follow her lead and go back to school to get a career…
Mati and Emiliano… She says you know MA, you know he is good, but life sometimes gives us lemons and it is difficult to cook pasta with that. (well, life brings difficulties)… Just like you, you know you are good and noble, and life can put some hard tests in front of you. So we need to be patient and help him out. Emiilano agrees. Chuy comes in… Chuy asks Emiliano to keep the secret about the RP. Remember that we the menchacas (Emiliano finishes ‘always help one another!’) … come close to my warmth!! (sweet scene, I hope Emiliano does not forget this vow once he is in front of A-hole again).
Carm and Lupe start planning the cooking for the wedding. Carm warns Lupe that she won’t go to the wedding party… Lupe starts tickling her to try to change her mind. Down comes AS with a whole list of requests for the ‘banquet for my son’s wedding’ Can we go over it together?? Lupe just grabs the paper which is a half page length paragraph!!
Nepo and Trofeo talk about opening the juice stand tomorrow… Trofeo asks if he will share on the profits too… Nepo says heck no… Trofeo tells him he asked MA for the gun and MA did not give it back. Nepo does not think MA would keep anything that belonged to someone else.
MA and Tomas talk about who could have killed Giron… MA is very worried about the gun… he can’t wait for the mystery to clear itself out. Tomas keeps trying to inject some confidence in MA… MA says he can’t even breathe of how scared he is. Tomas has to even give MA a hug…
At Editorial, there is a ‘divorce meeting’ meeting with Mini on one end and A-hole grouling like an animal. A-hole asks Saul to hurry up and get to the point. Saul says Mini wants half of everything. Vilma protests.. A-hole says Mini is NUTS if she thinks she will get that. Mini says it is payment for my virginity and all the abuse and physical harm he caused her… Vilma and Saul keep arguing… Vilma reminds them that Mini turned out to be sterile…A-hole repeats it but shouting. Mini shouts back’ what about you??!!’ Mini and A-hole keep shouting to the point where they are shouting right up each other’s noses and Saul and Vilma have to hold back their corresponding clients. Saul shouts to stop this nonsense… We should terminate this meeting, we won’t get anywhere like this! A-hole and Mini continue to insult each other.
AS says since I did not want to ask too much, I kept the list down to simple things… I even have the recipes here… Crepe of corn with potatoes and pork with potatoes and guajillo chile… Lupe translates to Carm as ‘tacos de canasta con papas’ ‘sopa de ojiocicol’… Carm asks why don’t they call things by their names? AS says the entrée is some pork with some green sauce, Carm translates to pork with green chile sauce’. I think this scene was pretty funny for Lupe and Carm and AS was very lost in translations..
MA has arrived to Nepo’s office. Nepo gives MA his pay for the two weeks. Trofeo arrives. Signals to Nepo to ask MA for the gun. Nepo asks MA. MA stays there frozen.
At penthouse, Leo and DA are hanging window curtains. Leo suggests to DA to find an art school. DA agrees, she is even warming up to tell his dad the truth, about.. you know… his love for art… DA asks Leo if he is willing to change one thing for the other (Maca for DA?)… Leo plays like he is clueless what DA is asking. AS comes in. She wants to know what they are doing. Leo says they are hanging curtains.
MA talks like Cantinflas about ‘la pistola’ but saying a lot and saying nothing all at once. Nepo tries to translate… what does that mean? … MA says I lost the gun… Nepo sends Trofeo out. Nepo gets irritated at MA… but is not out of control mad. Then Nepo asks Ma what have you done about the Lupe issue? I was counting on you, but you failed me, right? Nepo says with all the pain in his heart, he will head over there to call the loan on Lupita. Lupita comes in…. She came to make an installment payment on the loan. MA tells Lupe he said he would pay the loan. Lupe insists Nepo take the money. Nepo sais what Lupe should do is to ask her noviecito ARP for the money. MA tells Lupe its about time. MA tells Nepo… I have something to tell you… Nepo, I am your father (no, really he said I am Angel RP). (Lupe rolls her eyes).
At the cop station, they tell Jennifer they found a gun at the crime scene.
Saul looks cute with the front of his hair looking like orange hay. Saul talks to Vilma about her seeming attitude that she does not want her client to divorce his client. Vilma denies it. Vilma puts as excuse that neither party would be able to conceive a baby…
MA explains to Nepo that for a while already MA and Lupe have been ‘novios’. Nepo is confused… ‘weren’t you ‘gay’?? No! Nepo insists when MA used to talk to Saul, they would act in a certain way. MA says Saul is his friend and his lawyer. MA assures him that he likes women and LUVS Guadalupe. Nepo says he was believing MA was with Saul when he was ‘stealing’ Lupe from him. And Nepo was offering his friendship to MA… Nepo goes after MA and Lupe jumps between them.
DA and Leo are walking down the street in front of Fonda. Leo explains to DA that his mom is a bit nut-ukis… but deep inside she is nice. Leo then gives DA some advice on being yourself. DA is confused, says will try to follow the advise… Anyway, take care of yourself. Leo recommends he get more ‘culture-d’ but never give up being yourself. It was nice meeting you. (DA leaves). Leo talks to himself about being nice.
At school, Frida runs into an old friend, Rafael, who is friends with Tizoc. Frida gives him the same speech about self-improvement motivation. Some girls in another table laugh at Frida even talking to this guy. Frida tells him ‘we have to keep this a secret between us’. He agrees to do that.
Back to Nepo’s office, Lupe is joined by Trofeo to separate MA and Nepo… MA claims he had wanted to tell Nepo for a long time now. Trofeo says he knew a long time too (he still thinks it is about MA being Gay). Lupe tells Nepo she had been clear with him from the get go, but he did not want to acknowledge it.
At Penthouse, AS is glad Leo send the futbolista DA off on his way, but she is still not satisfied. Leo says who cares now, I am just about to marry Maca. AS says she can’t wait for the moment of the wedding. Chabela calls AS on cell phone. AS asks how is the wedding plans? Chabela assures her the hacienda is hers to receive the counts of Valladolid. She can’t wait to meet them!! Chabela has given instructions to the staff to roll the red carpet for them. AS says ‘you know, today for me, tomorrow for you. Consider yourself invited later on to the madre patria (Spain)’. Chabela says she has not yet received the wedding invitation. AS says they are on the way… it will be a very exclusive event… See you at the hacienda on the wedding day! A-dio, cha’! (she calls the guy who was going to loan her the money)

Trofeo interrupts to ask ‘are you gay or are you not gay??’ Nepo shuts Trofeo down, says MA is ARP. Nepo says he is calm… and he understands. But don’t dream on us being friends and if I see you around here again, I will probably kill you. MA understands and leaves, but Trofeo follows him asking ‘are you sure you are not Gay’??
MA tells Nepo she can see he was mad… But he just would never understand/admit… even though she always told him she was not in love with him… even told him she was in love with someone else… Nepo says ok I get it, just shut up now. Lupe says you should accept it once and for all… and please forgive me and MA for not having told you before. You are in your right of believing me or not , but I assure you MA is a good man. I am also certain you will find the right woman to love like you deserve. Nepo paces around whispering stuff, but Lupe is still waiting for him to forgive her. Lupe begs him not to take this ‘bronca’ against MA. In the name of the friendship we have always had. Nepo is not yet will ing to throw in the towel. Nepo would not put his hands to the fire for MA. Lupe says ok but lets put this issue to rest. Can we? … Nepo tells her ok, but I will ask you to keep MA far from this Mercado, because if I find him again, I can’t respond.

My favorites from last night:

The wondrous insults Minerva and Alejo came up with during the divorce meeting: from tarantula to eunuch with so much in between. What a funny scene! I especially liked Minerva telling him that in bed he lasted less time than a yawn. He was comparing her to a mule again: sterile, swallows grass, carries loads and then dies. (He is probably thinking he should be so lucky.)
Leonardo and Diego saying goodbye and the little hug that is "too much contact" for Leonardo. Leonardo looked sad for a moment as he turned to leave.
Am I the only one that think that Chabela sounds like a bleating goat on occasion?
Nepo needs to team up with Gwendy soon. He needs something else rather than his hatred for MA to take up his mind and time.

Thank you fit the recap!
The menu part was so funny because indeed AS requested Mexican food.
Soup with angel hair is indeed sopa de fideos, the dessert was in fact atole champurrado, and yes, the crepes are tacos and the pork is pork with greens and salsa verde.
But my favorite thing was the Minerva and Alejo divorce meeting. My god it was hilarious.

Frida is still unable to get past her hypocrisy. She talks a good game about equality, but she still deep down feels she's better because of her last name, as evidenced by her embarrassment at being seen talking to Rafael, pretending she lives with an aunt, and her reluctance to accept her feelings for Tizoc.
Nepo cracks me up with the way he speaks. He tells Trofeo that he wouldn't trust him with "una responsabilidad tan responsable" and that MA wouldn't take something "ajeno que no es suyo" (something that doesn't belong to him that isn't his).
The menu part was so funny because indeed AS requested Mexican food.
Soup with angel hair is indeed sopa de fideos, the dessert was in fact atole champurrado, and yes, the crepes are tacos and the pork is pork with greens and salsa verde.
But my favorite thing was the Minerva and Alejo divorce meeting. My god it was hilarious.

Thanks Marta, so funny that Nepo, Trofeo and Gwendy all assumed MA and Saul were partners. Is that why Gwendy gave him a facial and hair tint? Aren't you guys? So funny. My ccs were spelling it gays, even though they were pronouncing it guys.
I loved that scene with the menu too. They were so funny figuring out and laughing at what AS was calling those everyday foods that she wanted them to make.
I thought that Mini and Alejo were going to start kissing after they were staring each other down. They seemed like they were turned on by the fighting.

I thought it was funny when MA was kvetching about his problems to Tomas, and Tomas asked "do you want a hug?" and MA said "Claro" so Tomas hugged him. They are funny. I do not understand Tomas's facescaping, but I like him.

I don't think they will really be apart for very long, but I liked all the nice encouraging things Leo said to Diego. I think that might be the most sincere and supportive Leo has ever been in his life.
Then afterward, when the RPs were discussing the wedding, Leo would fake perking up and acting excited about it when he said anything, but then would slump and droop again. He looked so sad. Major kudos to the actor for making me care so much about a character who has mostly been a greedy pompous jerk.
Guendy's and Saul's date was hilarious, too. I wonder what he thought she was doing to his hair. The evening probably would have gone VERY differently if she hadn't been led to believe he was gay! How long is he going to leave his hair like that?

Thanks for the recap, Marta. This episode had many couple/small group confrontations and consultations.
Dona Mati did a great job explaining things to Emiliano. AS and the menu translation was pretty funny.
Saul's "makeover" at the hands of Guendy was just hilarious. Loved his orange bangs at the divorce hearing. Leo and Mini got down to basics as they ripped each other.

What do you think the advance with Maca means? It looked as though she was on stage reading a script...maybe she plays the role of a Countess and is carrying it over into real life hoping to snag Leo and his fortune (or lack of at present).

Thank you Marta! As always, I needed the recap to make sure I at least understood the big picture. I NEVER understand Frida, Tizoc or Tomas. I have a lot of trouble with Saul, too. I get distracted by that head thing he keeps doing.

I want Saul and Guendy together, too. Nepo is digging himself into a bigger and bigger hole. He and Guendy may seem like an obvious pair, but one of the big themes of this show is that people who don't seem to "match" may be the best couples.
Although I could also see Saul having hilarious hot times with Vilma or Minerva.
I want Tomas to find some romance! He deserves better than Perla Ivette, who is not that into him anyway.

Here it is Sunday night and I FINALLY got to watch Friday's show! Thank goodness for your thorough and clever recap, Marta! I agree almost completely with all the good comments. I'm was having trouble remembering why everyone was telling Nepo what a fine man he is. He sure hasn't shown any fineness in the last few weeks! But then I remembered how he took MA and Mati to the clinic and paid for her visit and her medicine. Okay, fine - but he'd better change his attitude about Lupe if he wants my support in the future!
I had a thought when I watched that little pre-commercial scene today that showed Alejo all dressed up in his white outfit: what if it is a foreshadowing of him going to the wedding - and the Menchacas all dressed in beach finery are there to serve? Was Chabela's house by the shore?

We knew Aurelio and Chuy were great friends, but it's probably true that Aurelio knew about Emi before he died. (Though as usual, he complicated it--couldn't just put some money in trust for him?)

Yes, Frida and everyone else is trying to keep their current residence a secret from Ahole and his associates. Thus the fewer people from that segment of society who know, the better, including her classmates.
