De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #104/105- Wed 6/25

De que llegó el turco, llegó el turco

Diego doesn't hear a thing Alberto says after he hears that he's married to Natalia…he wants to talk to her first and Alberto grudgingly picks up the phone.

Natalia goes out to the car and happily announces to Andres that she just got a job offer.  He's suspicious.  Alberto's call comes through and she agrees to talk to Diego, annoyed.  Andres says he'll take her to Alberto's office, but he's worried that the PI hired by the Cacares is nosing around about her and that it doesn't bode well.  For some ridiculous reason, she agrees it would be a good idea for him to join her at the appointment.

Gino leaves Luchón in charge of the bowling alley and a trust fund for Paolo's education.

Rod and Vicente find it promising that Irene is at least thinking about it, so maybe later they can convince her to stay.  Rod thought bubbles that this will give him time to cook the books.

Irene calls Diego and even though he's suspicious, both he and Alberto agree it's a good idea to stay through the launch of the first collection.  Alberto talks about drawing up papers where everyone agrees to Eskenda separating from Caprico once the collection is launched.  Natalia walks in with Andres.

Irene comes into Rod's office…actually, it looks like he took over Diego's office.  She tells him they want a signed agreement, and then they are interrupted by a call from Brigitte's landlady.  Irene wonders who was calling, but Rod tells her if she doesn't want to think of him as family, then she should stay out of his life.  Irene calls him odious and walks out.  Poor Rosa is stuck with the job of telling the landlady that she's sorry, but if Rod won't take her call, there's nothing she can do about it.

Diego refuses to talk to Natalia while Andres is there.  Andres refuses to leave since Natalia could be hurt and he wouldn't put anything past Diego.  Alberto wants them all to calm the heck down and quit arguing.  Natalia stands there smirking up at Andres as he says from now on he'll always be around to support and protect Natalia.  Which would be fine if (a) I thought she had any feelings for him or (b) it didn't look like she was just using him to make Diego jealous or (c) if  Andres had accepted that she doesn't have feelings for him and agreed to being used.  I know, I know, this could be construed as "c" but I'm not convinced that Andres isn't getting his hopes up.  Diego walks out after saying that since Natalia's the one who wants a divorce she can call him whenever she's ready to meet without bodyguards.  And she stands there with her mouth hanging open like she had no idea this would happen.

Rodrigo tells Vicente about the letter of intent, but Vicente says if he signs it, he won't go back on it.  Rod actually proposes that Vicente break his word.  "There's a first time for everything."  Vicente reluctantly says he'll do it, to save Caprico.  The landlady calls Rodrigo on his cell phone and he hangs up on her.  Vicente tells Rodrigo to do the legwork of preparing the agreement.

Alberto scolds Diego for causing trouble and losing points with Natalia.

Natalia rants to Andres about how Diego's just like his brother.  Andres thought bubbles that she's been talking about Diego non-stop for five minutes and that she obviously only brought him along to annoy Diego.  He tells her that it's best if she get this over with quickly instead of having to slog through a divorce in the courts.  "I'll wait for you in the car."  Slow clap for Andres!  Wow!  Somebody on this show matured instead of regressing!

Gino and Cunchetina stop by the fonda to say goodbye to Carmen.

Diego comes back into the office as Natalia's saying they should leave.  Andres tells them he'll get out of their way, since this is personal business, and leaves.  Natalia's parting shot (aimed at Diego) is to overly-sweetly thank Andres for being so understanding.  Diego starts right in about how she wants a divorce just so she can take up with Andres, but he stops before it can turn into a full-blown argument.  Alberto leaves them alone to talk.

In the hallway, Irene asks Rosa who the woman is who keeps calling for Rodrigo, but other than her name, Rosa doesn't know.  Irene asks Rosa to keep her informed of any strange goings-on while she and Diego are there.  It's news to Rosa that Irene and Diego would leave…"after all, the company is yours.  As far as I know, Mrs. Amalia left everything to y'all…."  Irene is sure it was all left to her father and this gives Rosa the opportunity to say she was mistaken.  When Irene walks off, Rosa sighs as she realizes she almost told Irene the truth.

I tune out Diego and Natalia's argument, waiting for them to get to a point.  Diego wants another chance and refuses to give her a divorce.  This may be one of the few situations in which that actually means something, since she has no grounds to sue for divorce.  Nat reacts predictably.  In the midst of her rant, she says she should have asked Rodrigo and HE would have been reasonable about it.  Diego asks her how he's failed her and Natalia doesn't have an answer for him, she just says she wants to be free.  Well, too bad.  Natalia storms out, telling Alberto to get the story from his friend.  Alberto begins the scolding.

Natalia complains to Andres, but he tells her not to worry, they'll find a way.

Gino takes a potty break while Cunchetina grills Carmen about what's going on with her and El.  She advocates for El and tells Carmen she's El's true love.  They're interrupted by the return of Gino and the arrival of Paolo and Lupita.  I just love the way Cunchetina exuberantly greeted Lupita.  I just love Lupita.  And Cunchetina.  Cunchetina gets all teary with Gino and Paolo's goodbyes.

Even when faced with Alberto's "I can't believe I'm friends with you, you idiot!" face, Diego won't back down.  He gives up and they agree to go to Caprico with the letter of intent.

Andres doesn't like what Diego is doing.  Natalia says she has a hard time resisting him.  Andres changes the subject to the job offer and agrees with Natalia that she needs to find a job.  They stop for lunch.

Abdul the elder ignores a customer, too busy wondering if Natalia is his daughter.

Gino and Cunchetina will be back later for another goodbye tonight.  They take their leave for now and Paolo cries to Carmen about how great it's been to have his dad around and how he really wanted him to marry Carmen, but "en el corazón, no se manda" (you can't order the heart around; the heart wants what it wants).

Abdul the elder sends one of his employees to attend to the customer and calls Natalia to reiterate his job offer.  They agree to meet tomorrow morning at his store.  Andres seems excited for her, but has a mouthful of food, so he can't really verbalize it.

Rod, Vicente, Irene, and Diego review the letter of intent, but with this new agreement, Vicente and Rodrigo want Rodrigo to stay in charge of the administrative side for Eskenda and Diego for Caprico.  Rod smirks, probably patting himself on the back since Eskenda can't fail and he has no clue what to do to help Caprico.

Alonso answers his door to his sister and nephew, and I get my hopes up that the little man is a boyfriend for Lupita, but he's only 4.  He'll totally have a crush on her, though.  Mateo is the kid's name and Alonso starts getting him settled in once his sister leaves.

Rodrigo tells his hired embezzler that their deal is over because his brother is back.  Now, it took me a minute to remember this, but Rodrigo had hired him as "Diego," so he's keeping up that façade.  Embezzler Dude is disappointed and suggests he talk Rodrigo because they've worked together before.  No dice, says Rodrigo.  Ever since his brother "Rodrigo" came out of his coma, he's been acting like a total saint.  The embezzler thinks maybe if they offer him a larger cut…. Rodrigo shuts him down completely.

Irene still isn't feeling very trusting, even after signing the letter of intent.  She doesn't trust Grumps and Rod as far as she can throw them.  It was just too easy.  Tad says at least they're legally protected now.  Diego leaves and Irene and Tad head for bed.

Rod stays at the bar where he was talking to the embezzler and his thoughts turn to Natalia when he hears the guy next to him greeting another  "Natalia."  He mumbles something about having gotten everything else in order, except for his obsession with Natalia.

Bro Central, Junior Edition.  Diego comes home and joins Mateo and Alonso in watching cartoons.  He turns down an offer of pizza and an offer to discuss his latest problems with Alonso and Mateo.  Darn!  Mateo probably would have had some good advice, the way this show is going.  Karina calls and invites herself over when she hears her future nephew is there hanging out.  She offers to bring over a cake and, well…it's cake.  Alonso's not going to turn down baked goods. *sigh*

Carmen has cooked up a feast for Gino and Cunchetina's bon voyage party.  Gino and Cunchetina, who I will henceforth refer to as G&T ('cause CuncheTINA), bring Luchón along with them.  Gino toasts to his son, an authentic "Mexican-Sicilian."  He brings in an accordionist, a bassist, and a singer for a Sicilian-style serenata and Cunchetina seems to have an easier time singing on-key along to "Funiculì, Funiculà" (which the singers aren't singing all the words to, just adding in a bunch of "la, la, las").

Later in the evening, as Nat is getting ready for bed, she can't help thinking of Diego.  Who might be standing outside her window looking up.  Unless that's Rodrigo.  She's not sure either.

Abdul lays down the law at the Crab shack and tells Jaiba that she can't drink during work hours anymore.  Jaiba tells one of the Crabettes she's happy to do it as long as he increases her profits and um, continues "amusing" her.

Natalia goes outside and realizes BOTH twins are there.  She gets spooked and goes back inside.

Alonso, Karina, and Mateo have cake.  Karina semi-invites herself along on a bicycle outing tomorrow.

Diego is still looking up at the window, waiting for Natalia, but she turns out the light.  The cops show up and arrest both Rodrigo and Diego.  I know, I know…Why did she go outside?  Beats me.  And what would she have done if there had only been one of them out there?  Talked to him?  Why?

The next morning, Alberto shows up outside their cell and calls them a pair of idiots.  "Did you think Natalia was playing around?"

Natalia shows up at Abdul's shop.  He mentions he had another one in Tuxpan in the '80s.  When he hears that she doesn't know or care who her father is, he starts arguing that her father probably had a very good reason….  And then he claims that he's her father.  And that goes over about as well as you'd expect.  In a refreshing change, Abdul asks Allah for help.  It's nice that the Virgen gets a break from being asked to help people clean up their own messes, for once!  Enjoy your day off, Virgencita!

The twins insist they both just happened to be there to talk business with Nat, but Alberto doesn't believe that. Nor do he or Nat care.  This was just a warning, but she won't give another one.  Rod smirks and swans off while Diego begs Alberto to please help him, but Alberto has a functioning brain, so NO!  Natalia wants nothing more to do with him.  For realz!  Rodrigo, lurking around the corner hears that even though Alberto begs him, Diego won't divorce Nat.  And the evil little wheels in his evil little brain start turning.

In the back of a taxi, Natalia fumes that her father would dare show up now…after he left Tuxpan 25 years ago…and he's Turkish….  "He's not my father, he's Abdul's!"  Gold star, for once.  She has the taxi driver take her back to the shop.

Luchón is in charge of selling the bowling alley, but it won't happen right away, so he encourages Paolo and Mara to stay until he finds a buyer.  If you saw Amorcito Corazon, it's the same Luchón from that show, with the same stale jokes playing on his inability to pronounce "r"s which I'm not going to dignify by detailing for you.

Abdul went after Natalia, so he's not at the shop.  She tries his phone and tells him they should talk.  They agree to meet at a café.  Before she can leave the shop, Rodrigo calls and asks to talk to her.  She can't believe he has the cojones to be calling her after last night and tells him to leave her alone.

Diego gets home and tells Alonso he spent the night in a jail cell with his brother.  Mateo plays happily with some toy cars.

Irene shows up in the workroom and hears from Brigitte (who has to be prompted to greet Irene) that Alonso told her that (Seamus told him that Parvati told Dean that….) the twins spent the night in jail, so it's not likely either of them will bother showing up to work today.  Brigitte complains about how they're both "obsessed" with Natalia and Irene corrects her--Diego's not obsessed, he loves her.  "Maybe, but I don't know how Natalia managed to bewitch Diego, Rodrigo…and even you.  Don't you think you should be on your nephews' side?"  Irene tells Brigitte she's not going to turn her against Natalia, so quit trying.  "See what I mean."  Irene immediately fires Brigitte and tells security to come drag her out of there…I wish.  But, no, Brigitte goes to get a coffee.

Alonso tells Diego to just leave Natalia alone already.  Diego tells him about the whole marriage/divorce mess.  Karina shows up.  When she goes to the bathroom, Diego asks Alonso what's going on and Alonso basically says that they don't have a thing, she just insisted on bringing cake over last night, that's all.  Dude, when a woman brings you a cake, don't you know what that means?  Nothing going on…what an idiot!

Natalia tells Abdul that Abdul is his son.

Vicente comes to visit Irene's office and she tells him where the twins spent the night.  He's furious that Natalia had his "grandson" (singular) locked up.  Irene smirks that what Natalia did was legal--she just had the cops enforce the restraining order she took out on BOTH twins.  Vicente smiles to himself, thinking that Natalia really does intend to keep up her end of the bargain.  Now he calls the boys both idiots.

Big Abdul is thrilled that Little Abdul was raised by Carmen, who was such an awesome woman that she not only raised Little Abdul, but also adopted Natalia.  "There are a total of five of us, actually."  He hesitates for a second and then declares them "five blessings!"  He wants to hear more about Little Abdul…Abdul the Younger?...Abdul the LESSER!...and Nat says he's got a head for business (and a bod for…you know…other stuff) and he's a good brother and…he needs some help because he just got sucked in by a baaaaad woman.  Big Abdul isn't surprised 'cause, you know…women.  He wants to see Carmen, but Natalia tells him to wait…and be prepared for a skillet to the head.  Natalia will go ahead and prepare Carmen and Big Abdul will meet her at the Fonda.

Alonso, Karina, and Mateo hang out in a park.  Alonso's a good uncle.  Karina gets a woman to take a picture of the three of them together.  The woman congratulates them on being such a cute couple with a cute kid.  Alonso gets uncomfortable, but ends up not saying anything.

Diego goes to Irene's office to complain about how it was all Rodrigo's fault.  Not just the being arrested, but screwing up his potential encounter with Natalia--she was on her way down to see him, after all.  And also, um, he kind of, um…didn'tgiveheradivorce.  He explains Alberto's genius plan and how he was an ass for not going along with it.

Vicente scolds Rod for going after Natalia and getting himself arrested.  Rod asks what Vicente would say if he said he was in love.  "Yeah, right.  Even you don't believe that."  Rod just laughs, then makes sure Vicente knows Diego was sniffing after Natalia last night, too.  Vicente says he didn't know, but…whatever.  Anyway, he's been looking over Eskenda's books and there are some purchases he can't quite make sense of…he wants Rodrigo to check things out.  Vicente leaves and Rod thought bubbles that Grumps is soooo naïve and really easy to distract lately.

Irene can't believe he refused to sign the divorce decree.  "Let's be realistic.  If you want to score points with her, give her a divorce!"  Diego whines that she's forcing him to pay for what Rodrigo did and he's just paying her back in kind.  "You're trying to force her hand and nobody likes that."  Vicente comes in to yell at Diego for going after Natalia and Irene for not telling him that Diego was also in jail (I thought she did, but, whatever).  Diego tells Grumps that Grumps has no right to question him about his private life and he'd better get used to the idea that their relationship is strictly work-related.  He leaves and Vicente turns on Irene and blames her for turning Diego against him.  "Like I'd have to do that.  You don't think having Natalia arrested in order to protect Rodrigo is enough reason for him to hate you?"  Vicente starts to tell Irene what he expects from her and Irene says all he has a right to expect from her is work.  So take that, Grumps!

Nat tells Angela that she met Abdul the Lesser's daddy.  Tad calls to invite Natalia to lunch…or dinner, since she's busy.  Nat will get back to him.  Tad's nose starts bleeding again and he says to himself that he has to find out of she's his daughter and a DNA test is the only way.

Eleazar sneaks up on Carmen while she's waiting for Lupita to get out of school and gives her a rose and ALMOST a kiss, but they're interrupted by Lupita and her teacher.  Since the teacher's there, Carmen keeps up the "your father" ruse.

Rodrigo calls Natalia and offers to divorce her.  Which, sadly, is the kindest offer she's gotten from either of the twins in a really long time.  I hope he means it.  Natalia runs off to meet him.  Carmen, Eleazar, and Lupita show up.  When Carmen goes to the kitchen Lupita asks El if he and Carmen are dating, but he says almost.  That's good enough for her.

Karina begs to be allowed to stay and feed Mateo.  Alonso, like an idiot, agrees.

Big Abdul makes his big entrance, with a golden lamp in his hands.

Natalia meets Rodrigo, who can't resist telling her she should have come to him first.  "Cut to the chase."  He repeats that he's willing to divorce her.

Big Abdul offers Carmen the lamp, but she tries to shoo him out.  But, now that he knows he has a kid, he's not going to be run off so quickly.  Lupita hears that he's Abdul the Lesser's father and looks about as exasperated as Carmen at the prospect of yet another Baby Daddy showing up when the last one had barely left!

Rodrigo wants nothing in exchange for divorcing Natalia…well, just a small gesture.

Lupita tries not to leave Carmen alone with Big Abdul, but Carmen sends her off.  Carmen wants to know what his excuse is.  His has a nickname for her, but I can't quite catch what it is.  Anyway…his story is about the same as Gino's, except that it was his mother calling him and when he showed up he found out she had arranged a marriage for him.

Rodrigo claims that he's in love with Natalia and he admits he behaved badly…all he wants is a chance.  No way, says Nat.  Rod says he could feel a little something-something in her kisses, but Natalia says she doesn't even love Diego anymore, and all because of what Rod did.  So, yeah, man, you screwed it up for the both of you.

Carmen still wants to get rid of Abdul and thinks he's just trying to get her back in the sack.  He says there's no way to make up for what he did, and says he's just there for Abdul (TL) and teases her, saying she shouldn't feel bad--he knows she's disappointed that he's not coming on to her.  "Kidding, kidding!  Just trying to break the ice!"  They sit down to talk about Abdul (TL).  Lupita observes.

Rodrigo says he'll give her the divorce, but Natalia tells him not to expect anything from her.  "Even if you showed me you wanted to help me and behaved like the best person…I'd think of your brother before you."  She tells him if he wants to prove there's even the tiniest shred of nobility in him, he'd sign the divorce.  She leaves and Rodrigo angrily thought bubbles that he's never begged a woman so much and he hates having it thrown in his face that his brother is better than he is.

Lupita calls Eleazar and tells him Big Abdul is there, he brought Carmen a present, and they're laughing together.  El is pissed that this is happening again, but he swears Carmen won't make a fool out of him.  Too late, dude.

Carmen's telling Big Abdul what Abdul (TL) did and how it was Jaiba who made him behave that way.  He wants to go deal with Abdul (TL), but Carmen says he won't take it well.  "We're not going to do anything.  He needs to realize he's made a mistake on his own.  If you don't like it, go back where you came from."

Mateo has lousy judgment and wants Karina to stay with them.  She suggests they go to the movies tomorrow, 'cause she LOVES kids movies.  Alonso goes along with it, dodges a kiss goodbye, and asks Mateo if he has any idea what he just did.  "Oh, well.  Karina's being nice, huh?"  For now, dude.  For now.

Rodrigo shows up at Alberto's office and says he's there to divorce Natalia.  Alberto says they'll have to present a petition and meet with a judge a couple of times and then it'll be done.  But the real problem is that Rodrigo is going to have to pretend to be Diego again to do it.  And he doesn't think Diego will like that.  Which part?  Rodrigo impersonating him or Rodrigo divorcing Natalia?

Big Abdul agrees to play it Carmen's way.  "So…what have you been up to since I left?"  She says after he left, she, well…found another three baby daddies. Abdul scolds her and says after what he did, she should have learned her lesson.  "Excuse me?!  You don't get to come in and judge me!"  He says he's just making an observation.  The other three must have fallen hard for her--"There are few women as beautiful and fiery as you!"  Carmen is flattered.  He tells her that he really hopes Allah will grant him the privilege of getting to see Carmen find happiness with a man who knows how to love and value her.  And in walks El and clocks him!  "Nobody gets lovey with Carmen but me!"

Rodrigo laughs at how "Diego's refusing to divorce Natalia and I'm the bad one?"  He smirks at Alberto as they shake hands and thinks "Now run along and tell my brother."  Alberto wonders what Rod is up to.

Carmen yells at Eleazar for punching out Big Abdul and Eleazar yells at Carmen for letting another baby daddy show up and try to make nice.  "Oh, he doesn't want you like that…Yeah right!  Well, fine, you can keep him.  I'm out of here!"  I join Big Abdul in fondly wishing I'll get to see Carmen with someone who knows how to love and value her…and someone she knows how to love and value…and I suppose in this fantasy world, that will be El, but in real life, I'd be telling them both to move on.  El runs into Natalia outside the Fonda and tells her this is IT!  He's tired of watching the Baby Daddy Parade!  Carmen throws a bucket of water over Big Abdul and he comes around again.

Alberto tells Diego that Rodrigo's going to divorce Natalia and Diego says he's DONE with Rodrigo and Natalia both.

Natalia comes into the Fonda and tells Carmen about how she and Big Abdul met.  She gets a call from Tad and agrees to meet him for dinner.  I guess she's about to meet her second father for the day.  Maybe we can get Darth Vader to show up too.  It'll be like Spartacus…"I'm your father, Natalia!"  "No, I'm your father!"  "No, I am!".  Tad is planning to steal some DNA from her.

Eleazar goes out and gets drunk.  He complains to the bartender about how none of his bros was available to help him out today, so now the bartender is his BFF.

Tad's hiding scissors under a cocktail napkin when Natalia arrives.  "So, what did you want to talk to me about?"  Tad says he just wanted to chat, but Nat's not buying it.  They're luckily interrupted by the waiter and Tad orders an appetizer platter.  This apparently gives him some time to come up with the idea of telling her about getting Eskenda separated from Caprico and how difficult that's been.

Carmen tells Paolo she can't believe his dad just left and now Big Abdul showed up!  Paolo laughs and wonders if the Frenchman will show up too.  "Don't even say it!"  Carmen says that after seeing the way Eleazar behaved, she is DONE with him.  Yeah, Paolo doesn't buy that.  They move on to talking about Carmen's plan to get Abdul back by letting Jaiba drive him away.

Big Abdul goes over to the cantina where Crabby introduces herself to him.  He gives her angry eyes and thinks "She's the one!"

Natalia says she can't go back to work for Eskenda because it wouldn't be fair to ask Irene to keep Diego away.  She goes to the bathroom and Tad looks in her purse for a brush.  Natalia busts him and he says he thought he heard her cell phone ringing.  Nope, no missed calls.  When she turns around he seriously grabs her hair and says "Um, I just really wanted to touch your hair?"  Natalia is out of there.  "Wait!  I can explain!"  But before he can, he passes out, bleeding PROFUSELY from his nose.

Tomorrow: Tad sends the PI to get a DNA sample from Natalia.  Rod plans to stop him.

Eleazar might have received an MLC today...I don't know how she's going to take it when he tells her he's "DONE!" even if I don't think he means it any more than Carmen does.

My list this episode of people I want to kick in the shins: Eleazar, Carmen, Vicente, Diego, Rodrigo, Tad (even if I do feel sorry for him), Alonso twice (because it would be mean to kick Mateo).

I want to join the Shin-Kickers' Club, too!

Mexico's episodes 123&124 seems Univision is only airing 2hour episodes.

Thanks for your recap Kat. I so agree with your frustration over the grand stupidity of so many characters.

I had to laugh when Vicente was being convinced to break his word...the man who told his daughter her own daughter died and continues to lie to her has to be convinced to be dishonest. Yeah, I know tns logic does not exist.

At this point I'm a bit vexed with most of the characters. Thank goodness for Luptia!! And though Tad is not at his best, I want him to live as Alonso is too stupid to live and be with Irene.

Thanks Sara and Vivi for your recaps last week.

Kat, my class has been extended for another week so I'll need you to cover me once more July 2nd. Sorry and thanks.

Diana thanks for your post. I miss you all as well and hope to post more this weekend.

5FT, you always bring everything to life! Thank you so much!

Karina TOTALLY ruined the episodes for me; TOTALLY. Am I the only one to think this, but is she just a tad off her rocker? Am I imagining this?

I've asked this question several times now, but what in the world is with Alonso?! This man INVITES Karina into his life. Look at all she has done and he INVITES her into his life. Karina is like a "Fatal Attraction". Nothing good can come of this.

Karen (so good to see you again!), I agree. I hope Tad lives. Irene deserves so much better. The pain of having to live with that horrible Grumps and the lies he has perpetrated is enough for one lifetime. She does NOT need Alonso.

Fatima

One more thing, I will miss Gino with his fractured "Italian" and his colorful suits. That little scene in Carmen's house was really happy. I found myself smiling the whole time. I loved C-Tina. She just had such a warmth about her.

I'm going to miss this when it ends.

Fatima

Thanks for another fabulous recap, Kat. And thanks for taking this show on period. If it weren't for you I don't think we would have a place to discuss this. I skipped over to La Impostora at 7 and after reading this I'm glad. Please tell me where to send my application for the shin-kickers club.

I am really frustrated by Grumps, Rod, El, Carmen, and Alonso right now.

Oh! At least Rosa has planted a little seed about who inherited Caprico.

Fatima- I felt the same about that scene. I am really bummed to see those two go. I wish they could have stayed.

Sweet and savory Kat. Your sense of humor is wonderful and this was a bright and breezy read. So many carefully related details - gracias.

"Bro Central, Junior Edition", " It's nice that the Virgen gets a break from being asked to help people clean up their own messes, for once!", "Maybe we can get Darth Vader to show up too. It'll be like Spartacus…"I'm your father, Natalia!" "No, I'm your father!" "No, I am!" were hysterical.

I just love Paolo: “Paolo cries to Carmen about how great it's been to have his dad around and how he really wanted him to marry Carmen, but "en el corazón, no se manda". Huge sigh! Fatima, I also wish Gino and C-Tina were going to stay in the mix. They are warm and fun and added a nice dimension.

Anyone else thinking Alonso’s sister will be the Brat’s replacement for Alberto??? Speculation, not spoiler.

I had to grimace at Tad's clumsy attempts to get the DNA sample. It was cringeworthy. No wonder Natalia wanted to hightail it out of there!

I'm sorry to see Tad's health is deteriorating quickly. Let's hope the smarmy PI is not thwarted by Rod in his attempts to get the sample.

Abdul is hawt (well both of them are but Jr. is far too young for me). I can't blame El for having had enough - Carmen needs a revolving door for her parade of ex's. Poor Lupita. One leaves - another arrives...

Speaking of revolving doors, my head is spinning like Linda Blair's trying to keep track of and correctly identify which bro is on the screen. I find I'm squinting trying to analyze the facial expressions and missing the dialog (the little I can understand of course)...

Welcome back Karen! You haven't missed a beat - laughed out loud at "Alonso is too stupid to live and be with Irene". Couldn't agree more!

So enjoying this. While I can't watch every moment of these 2 hours, Kat, I thank you and our wonderful recappers who do so every night and then manage to provide these stellar recaps.

Thank you!

Diana

Hey Karen! Glad to see again. I hope you are enjoying your class!

Diana and Sara, thanks for the shout out! Watching happy little scenes like the one with Gino and C-Tina reminds me why these TN can be such a positive escape. :))

Fatima

I probably shouldn't confess it publically but I liked C-tina a lot. For such a minor character, she really stole the show for me. I am completely bummed that she's gone. It's just a show, right?

Thank goodness I have Abdul the Elder to cling to. Flame me if you will, but I am dumping El. What a hottie Mchotterson Abdul (TE) is.

There's not really an application for the Shin-Kickers' Club. You can pretty much self-declare. We don't even have a secret handshake. Well, maybe...it's an involuntary foot twitch when somebody behaves like an idiot.

Thanks for the ep# update, Alex.

Karen, I've got it on the calendar, thanks. Y'all must be having fun if it got extended :D

Yeah, Vicente's all "Oh, my integrity" but it's all business integrity, since he has less than none in his personal life. Now that I think about it, he probably treats clients and suppliers way better than he's treated Irene and (lately) Diego.

Fatima, I'm not sure Karina even knows there *is* a rocker to be off. And Alonso has even told her to seek treatment, but he keeps thinking she can be "just friends" with him. Uh, no! At least he doesn't have a bunny. And I don't think she would hurt Mateo. I hope not, anyway!

I didn't miss Chato one bit, but I'm sad that G&T are going back to Sicily. It would have been so much fun to keep them around and see how they would have interacted with Big Abdul and the Frenchman, whenever he shows up.

Sara, I was so disappointed that Irene brushed off what Rosa was saying. Rosa must have been completely flustered by Rod's landlady to let something big like that just accidentally slip. So we can plan on hearing Irene say, "I can't believe you would do this, Vicente Cacares! I really didn't think you could sink any lower!" two more times--once for stealing their inheritance and once when he breaks the contract.

Diana, I didn't catch her name (Alonso's sister), but since she seems to be some kind of serious business professional, she might be a good match for Alberto--the only person on this show who actually works and doesn't just collect a paycheck for dealing with personal drama all day. Poor Alberto needs a better partner.

"It would have been so much fun to keep them around and see how they would have interacted with Big Abdul and the Frenchman, whenever he shows up."

Because I wasn't bummed enough about their exit, you bring up a fabulous "what if." lol

Hahahaha...Fun spin-offs of this show we'd almost rather be watching...

La Detective Lupita: Lupita and El start their own detective agency. Morales is their receptionist.

Al y Angie: a refrito of Dharma and Greg, a la Mexicana.

Los Siciliano-Mexicanos: Gino and Cunchetina stay in Mexico and establish a chain of SicilMex restaurants, serving octopus empanadas and pasta a la parillada.

Mi Tio Loco: Mateo and his mom move in with Alonso. Mateo helps Alonso find true love and learn the meaning of "professional ethics."

Thanks Kat! Another great recap from you this week!

I really enjoyed the scenes with G&T—so fun and warm. So glad they are joining the extended family. I love that Lupita included herself in Paolo’s planned trip to see G&T in Italy, since Gino taught her Italian. I guess he’s off her sh*t list now that he’s not Carmen’s fiancé.

I hope Big Abdul sticks to his assertion that he has no romantic interest in Carmen. I don’t think it matters to El though, since he seems to have had enough of seeing her exs around. He’s going to have to get over that though, because these guys exist, they are her baby daddies and they’ll always have a connection to her. Will Big Abdul be able to set Abdul el Menor straight?

Loved that Nat called the cops on the twins. Ha! Like the restraining order, that was unexpected.

It was smart of Tad to try to get DNA evidence, but he realized it’s actually not that easy to get a DNA sample from someone! Poor guy.

Geez, Kat. I would actually like to see those shows!!! Especially La Detective Lupita! That's even funnier when you think about Detective/lupa!

Vivi, I too hope that Big Abdul just does his fatherly duty and no more. He mentioned an arranged marriage, but didn't say anything about where his wife and other potential children are. I think Carmen's right, though, and if he shows up and tells Abdul (TL) that he's his daddy and tries to drag him back to Carmen's it's going to backfire.

I did enjoy seeing the twins stuck in a jail cell together. Too bad they were released.

Posting before reading the recap and comments.

So is the ep count actually 104?

It took a little longer than it should have, but finally Nat realized who Big Abdul was. She’s getting smarter. Also, loved that she ripped Rodgrigo a new one.

Poor El. I don’t condone violence, but was totally sympathetic. Every time he makes progress with Carmen, another baby daddy shows up.

Alonso re: Karina. NIP THAT IN THE BUD NOW!!

Actually, Al did say something when the woman commented on them being a family. He said her name in an exasperated voice. However, with Karina, you need a sledgehammer to get it into her head.

I’m horrible, but I was thinking with Mateo showed up that the sister would die, Al would get custody of Matty and that would be the child that Irene can’t give him. I’m still hoping for a miracle pregnancy in the Gran Finale. I’m assuming, of course, they end up together.

I am not understanding this whole Rod/Diego divorce thing. Since Rod used a false name, wouldn’t the marriage be null and void. So she’s legally married to Diego because that’s the name used. So, let’s say there are two other Diego Carceres’ in Mexico. Do they also have a claim to Nat? This doesn’t make any sense.

I see Tad read my comment about the DNA. Maybe I can influence other characters. Sort of like that movie Delirious with John Candy.

Nanette

Nanette: I really don't want Irene with Al but if they must, yes, I hope she does become pregnant. And as Kat noted, Alberto does deserve far better so if Alonso's sister doesn't work out, I fervently hope there is someone worthy of him waiting in the wings.

Vivi, I've been concerned all along that the major stumbling block between El and Carmen is her children's fathers. He loves the kids - they love him. That is the only thing that matters. He just can't seem to get past this and throw it in Carmen's face. That's a concern...

Diana

And someone jog my memory... At the beginning wasn't El already installed in the DF? So between Paolo and Lupita (or even earlier) he left Tuscan. Did he expect Carmen to wait?

Another sparkler, Diva. Admire your work ethic, your consistency, but most of all your sassy sense of humor.

"Bro Central, Junior Edition"

"It's nice that the Virgen gets a break from being asked to help people clean up their own messes, for once!"

Yesss, once again Diana and I picked the same quotes. Separated at birth. No other explanation.

Glad to know also, I wasn't the only one with serious blues about Gino and Conchetina going back to Sicily. Gino was incandescent the other night in the turquoise sports jacket and deeper blue shirt. He made my telenovio El look like a rumpled brown wren.

The Turk, while hawt, hawt, hawt, is less of a threat since he runs to brown on brown next to brown as well. But Carmen needs to get herself back up to El's apartment and say once more, I need you as an HOMBRE, and then follow through on the couch action. Or the floor action. Or the shower. BUT SOMETHING, CARMEN!!!! JEEEEEEZ!

See, I'm not really a shin-kicker. More of a yeller.

Thanks for a great recap, Diva. Al was cute with the kid. But that's because he's still a little kid himself. Live, Tad, live! And let Irene fall in love with you again!

Nanette, I think you're right. We were numbering them as 2 when they were 2 hours long before and then then went back to 1 hour and confused us...That makes tonight 104/105. So technically it's not really the episode number, it's the number of hours of show we've been through.

I thought the same thing about Alonso ending up with Mateo...how could we not? That kind of stuff always happens. I'm sure him being there has something to do with Alonso and Irene, but "tomorrow" is supposed to be his last day with Alonso and they've been nowhere near Irene. At this rate, with Karina all over him, if she does run into them it will be all 3 of them.

So the deal with the divorce is Rod impersonated Diego and married Natalia. This makes Rod her legal husband because he was the one who was actually there. Then we have the deal with Grumps where no one is supposed to accuse Rodrigo of stealing Diego's identity. Alberto's original plan of having Diego sign the divorce papers is actually not legal because he didn't marry Nat...but they would be able to get away with it because Rodrigo can't complain without accusing himself of identity theft. Which he's free to do--he didn't make the deal with Grumps--but probably wouldn't want to. The new plan, having Rodrigo sign the divorce papers is legal in that he's the one who actually married Nat, but requires him to illegally impersonate Diego once again. And Diego can't say anything about it because it would violate the deal with Grumps and get Natalia sent to jail.

What I don't get is this. How the heck does Grumps' engineered deal completely wipe out everything Rodrigo did? Even if no one is pressing charges against Rod, or if the charges are being dismissed because he really thought he WAS Diego...that doesn't actually make him Diego. Just because he's not going to jail doesn't mean everything he did during that time shouldn't automatically be invalidated. But Grumps' interference somehow made it so that legally whatever happened during those 2 months was done by Diego.

Which leads me to another confusion...if the embezzler thinks he was dealing with Diego, why not just let him keep doing it and let Diego go down? Grumps wouldn't be able to work another deal to keep Diego out of jail for embezzling without exposing all the lies he told to keep Rodrigo out of jail for attempted murder and impersonating his brother.

Lol, JudyB...I wish El hadn't decked Big Abdul so Big Abdul would have had the chance to not only explain that he's not after Carmen but jump to the wrong/right conclusion and tell El what a lucky man he is and how happy he is for Carmen. I thought we were making some progress when Carmen immediately shut him down, but now we'll have to claw our way back to seeing some couch action again.

Sara, he always talks about how he kept coming back and every time she was with someone new. So either all the baby daddies stuck around for years before they left or El wasn't visiting his mom very often!

Kat, thanks for recap. Doing double eps must be so grueling.

Love these quotes:

“It's nice that the Virgen gets a break from being asked to help people clean up their own messes, for once! Enjoy your day off, Virgencita!”

“Mateo has lousy judgment and wants Karina to stay with them.”

“Maybe we can get Darth Vader to show up too. It'll be like Spartacus…"I'm your father, Natalia!" "No, I'm your father!" "No, I am!".”

“He gives her angry eyes”—I like that. I think I’ll use it. Reminds me of the “anger ball” saying from Playing by Heart.

Loved your spin off ideas. Especially, Lupita and EL’s. As I said before, Lupita will be the brains of the operation and El the muscle.

Rosa needs to tell Irene about the will. I know she’s probably keeping quiet because she thinks that Grumps is more experienced and will take better care of the company. Still, really not well done of her.

Uh. So much for Nat preparing Carmen for Abdul’s reappearance.

Rod has to impersonate Diego to get the divorce. None of this sounds legal.

Loved the farewell party. Going to miss C-tina. I thought she might end up being a schemer, but she honestly loves Gino, Paolo and Lupita. She’s a real sweetheart.

At first I wanted Diego to do what Ale did over on Robo and give Nat her freedom. Then I thought he should refuse to divorce her because, in TN Land, if he divorces her, then she’ll up and become engaged or marry someone else and then we have to slog through that mess.

Diana: I like your idea of Al’s sister as a replacement for Brat.

Fatima: I hope you’re going to join those of us who are going to watch Silvia Navarro’s new TN. She’s my fav. One of the best TN actor’s ever. And it’s supposed to a comedy.

Kat: thanks for the explanation about the divorce. It’s still confusing. Also, thanks for the clarification about El and Carmen. I thought he was in Tuxpan this whole time and just didn’t declare himself.

Nanette

In Mateo's defense, Karina did bring him a cake (a damn fancy one too), and he's only four. They can be bought pretty cheaply.

I too thought that Al's sister will bite the dust during her trip, thereby creating an instant family for Al and...Irene, Karina? Although Karina is acting more like a normal human being now, you can still see the crazy just waiting to surface every time Al gives her a small opening.

I wonder how much trouble Rosa's going to be in for keeping the secret about the inheritance? I don't want her to be, I like her, but helping Grumps do this isn't right. And his whole "I know what's best" argument is falling apart. There is no scenario in which defending Rod and bringing him back into the company is what's "best" for the business. I used to think that he could at LEAST be counted on for that, but nope.

Vivi...it was a nice-looking cake. I can cut Mateo some slack for being won over by it. Alonso, on the other hand should be permanently suspicious of any food he doesn't watch Karina prepare!

Karina should end up with Alonso - la loca y el loquero - and live happily never after with their little loquitos.

Tks 5ft, great as always

Wish we had a lawyer watching. IMO, I don't think there really is a marriage due to fraud. Nat thinks she married Diego, it was someone impersonating him, so how could it be legit? What to do about it, I have no idea, except put Rod in the clink for fraud.

Variopinta- They all have to pretend there was no fraud and keep their mouths shut about it. If any of them bring the fraud up to the authorities again Rod will go to jail, and then Grumps will throw Nat (and Andres) in jail. If the authorities are not informed there was a fraud, Nat is still married to Diego in the eyes of the law so she needs a divorce.

Variopinta, yep, Vivi said it. They may be making up the whole "Whoever was physically there is the person who actually got married," but it's at least something I've seen consistently from as far back as the movie "Marnie". Sean Connery's character married Tippi Hedren's character while she was using a false identity. He tells her it doesn't matter if the marriage license is signed "Minnie Q. Mouse," they're still married.

Anon 2:59, they do seem to be headed that way.

Thanks for the explanation about El's visits AND the marriage fraud business. Though the marriage fraud stuff gives me a headache, so I don't think about it much...like the side bar says, I like to "let my brain float like a canned pear half in partially-set red jello..."

Sara: the marriage fraud is giving me a headache.

Personally, I think Nat's not really married unless, like Kat said, in Mexico City or Mexico or the state that Mexico City is in, it doesn't matter what name you use. I think in the US it's probably a state-by-state thing.

Of course, we are talking about the laws of Telenovela land...so she's officially hitched!

Sure, everyone who knows the situation knows Nat is not married. But there's some legal paperwork that says she is. If tomorrow Nat wanted to marry Andres, the justice of the peace would see in his records that she's already hitched to one Diego Carceres. He'll point this out to her. She could say that marriage was a fraud and I'm not really married. Fine, the judge will say, prove it. That would mean a legal process, which would cause Grumps to throw her in jail for breaking her agreement. If Nat wants to move on with her life, have no legal connection to the Carceres, AND stay out of jail, she has to get a divorce-- whether or not she's really married.

Speaking of Andres...
He's been rockin' the Gino look, hasn't he? Maybe Gino gave him some fashion advice.

In fact, there seems to be a lot of colorful dressing in this show. I like it!

Yeah. Last night Andres was sporting a pink striped shirt and lime green pants-- it's a color combination we see here a lot during Cherry Blossom Festival season.

Here's an interesting conversation about the name issue. The sentence "You marry a person, not a name" seems to be the main premise that's being used for purposes of the show. It was hinted that Nat didn't really have to "do" anything, the marriage was just invalid...but the court doesn't know that until she tells them. Otherwise, like Vivi says, it's still on the books.

Marrying under a false name

Andres did get the Gino makeover! Maybe that's what Gino and Cunchetina can do...open a men's clothing store in the DF :D

Kat- stop teasing me with your brilliant Gino and C-tina plot.

I miss that girl.

Can't there be some fire that destroys the books? I guess it's in a computer somewhere too. Drat.

Irene fires Brigitte and Alberto gets her a job doing data entry for the court. Problem solved!

Although...at that point we'd also have other couples not being married at all...being married to the wrong people...divorces never getting registered....

Now I'm going to worry that when Diego and Nat get married in the finale, it won't be legal.

5Ft, thank you for the low down on the divorce bidnez. Honestly, I still don't get it and am just avoiding that part of the story line.

Nanette, I will definitely be joining all of you on the Silvia Navarro TN (with Mr. Dimples himself, Jorge Salinas!!). I would really miss this gang if I didn't, so I will be there. I loved SN in "Cuando Me Enamoro".

Silvia Navarro and the C-Tina actress look like the kind of people you'd like to have as a friend in real life.

I'm really going to miss Gino and C-Tina tonight. :((

Fatima

Fatima: Did you see Amor Bravio? I liked it even more than CME and I really liked CME.

Nanette,

Yes, I did see it! I loved Silvia. I thought she had excellent chemistry with the lead male actor, but mostly I just loved watching her.

I also started to watch the movie that had her and Jorge Salinas as the leads. I'm blanking on the name, but I found it on Netflix. Something about Red Lips. Could it be "Labios Rojos"? I don't know. I'm probably making it up, but it's on Netflix. I started it, but haven't finished it, yet.

Fatima

Fatima, Labios Rojos is correct.
