De Que Te Quiero Te Quiero: 6/5/2014, #82 & 83 US (or something like that)

De Que Su Hija Está Viva, Está Viva!

I’ve got an early and long day tomorrow, so I’m doing a bullet points quick and dirty, just the facts recap. Feel free to fill in anything I might have missed.

- Brigitte the Brat, while packing her stuff to leave sad Alberto’s apartment, says some things I agree with for the first time. She calls herself capricious, bossy, hotheaded/mean, and immature (caprichosa, mandona, explosiva, y inmadura). Yep, that describes a few of her defects. These are her excuses for why she wants to live on her own, and not marry him now (yet keep the man’s ring). Al takes her to her “friend’s” apartment and is impressed by the size and luxury of the apartment.

- Rod and Irma have a not so friendly chat over unconscious Diego. Rod says to Diego: “If I leave you alive, I won’t be able to explain, and no one will forgive me.” He’s decided to kill Diego and steal his life and inheritance. Despite the fact that he’s basically already said this a few times, Irma is shocked, shocked!  She says she’s not going be an accomplice to murder. Rod gets in her face and threatens her, and tells her she has no choice. After he leaves the room, she says she laments what she’s doing, mentions Rod trying to steal Diego’s life and Natalia, is sympathetic when Diego reacts to Nat’s name and cries, but shoots him up with more drugs anyway. Bitch! Grumps arrives and sees the tears, Irma makes up a sick aunt in Miami, and Grumps offers to let her go see her aunt as soon as tomorrow. He’ll hire a temporary nurse. Irma is overjoyed that she’ll get to escape and the whole thing will explode on Rod.

- El’s payment to Gino for losing the soccer game is to serve as waiter and ring bearer at a fancy Italian restaurant, while Gino proposes to Carmen. El first tries to sabotage the evening by putting mega hot peppers in Gino’s pasta. Unfortunately, Carmen switches dishes with him, and nearly chokes to death on the hot peppers. Lupita calls him in tears, since she heard about the proposal, but El has given up. He's about to serve the tiramisu with the ring, when a hazmat team busts in, saying there’s a toxic gas leak.  Gino is hustled off to the hospital. El kisses Carmen in front of the restaurant owner, who knows Gino. Carmen rejects him, since she thinks he’s behind the fake gas leak plot. However, he really knows nothing since Morales did it all on his own. Carmen sees Morales and is further convinced it was El behind it all. Carmen, Paolo, and Abdul get to the hospital just in time to save Gino from a mistaken enema, performed by student nurses, and hemorrhoid surgery!

- The next day, Gino goes to El’s office hopping mad. El convinces Gino that he jumped the gun with the proposal. Carmen would have likely rejected him after 18 years of absence. Gino starts to doubt himself. El thinks he’s won some time to prevent Carmen marrying Gino by playing mind games with him.

- The Brat gives Rodiego the key to her apartment in a gift box and tells him to use it any time. Blech!

- Padre visits Mr. T, who is ill in bed. He tells Mr. T that Irene and Nat deserve to know the truth! He has to tell them. Mr. T is freaked out. Mrs. T runs into Grumps in the kitchen and tells him about Padre. She sees through Grumps’ act and realizes that he’s the same maldito (a**hole) as before. Grumps heads to Mr. T’s room, and pretends he’s a nice guy who cares about people. Either Padre is a very good actor, or he doesn’t know about Grumps’ role in this whole baby snatching/secret crime. Grumps says some bs about being happy that Nat will soon be part of the family. After Padre leaves, Grumps nearly has a heart attack while yelling at Mr. T about keeping his mouth shut. Serves him right.

- The Brat leaves work in the middle of the day to go to her new apartment, and brags about her new place to Nat. Off-screen, Nat tells Alberto about Brat going to her apartment for lunch and to unpack, and he surprises Brat at her gate with takeout lunch. Unfortunately, Rodiego is waiting in the bedroom for some afternoon delight. Brat stealthily picks up Rod’s drink as they enter the apartment, and yells a lot to alert Rodiego. After lunch, Al wants to get busy in the bedroom. Rodiego hides in the closet, and then sneaks out while Brat and Al get it on.

- Seems the restaurant owner told Gino about seeing El and Carmen kissing. He is pouty when Carmen comes to visit him in his office. Carmen assures him that El stole a kiss from her, just as Gino did after the game. Gino apologizes and calls himself an idiot for his whole restaurant plan. He just wanted to show his love. He decides to propose then and there and gets down on bended knee with the ring. “Carmelona, will you marry me? I’ll make you the happiest woman in the world.” She accepts!

-Gino and Carmen make the announcement to Paolo and the other bowling alley employees. Happiness and hugs all around. Carmen and Paolo want Gino to take them to Sicily after the wedding! Gino’s face falls. Obviously, his mafia troubles in Sicily are ongoing. Meanwhile, El buys an engagement ring! Later, El heads to the fonda with a determined look in his eyes, and finds out the news about Carmen and Gino. He has a sad. He and Lupita are the only ones not pleased. El silently blames himself for missing his chance with Carmen, and leaves down in the dumps, after inviting everyone to a dinner at his house. Gino thinks to himself that he can never go back to Sicily. Uh oh!

- Tad and Irene arrive at the mansion to speak to Grumps. Grumps is surprised but glad to learn that Irene is no longer with Alonso, since it was like a mother dating her kid. “You two never had a future.” He continues the insults when he learns Irene is living with Tad. “You’re changing your men like your shoes.” He accuses them of being lovers. Grumps spews more bile at Irene. Irene cries. Tad tells Grumps off. Grumps accuses Tad of abandoning a pregnant Irene. It all gets very ugly. Mrs. T listens in and reports back to Mr. T.

- Grumps continues his diatribe once they get to talking about the “dead” baby. “I did what was right to save the good name I gave you…You could have married and had more kids.” Irene breaks the news that she is sterile since the birth of her daughter. Mr. T busts into the room at this point: “Your daughter didn’t die! Your daughter lives!” Pandemonium ensues. Both Mr. T and Irene have a nervous breakdown as she begs him for answers. Mrs. T and Lala drag Mr. T away. Irene and Tad question Grumps. “Sooner or later we’ll learn the truth!” Grumps finally admits it’s true. Their daughter is alive! Grumps throws blame on Mr. T. He says that Mr. T dumped their daughter in an orphanage in Poza Rica (a town in Veracruz), and Grumps only learned about it recently. Mr. T is catatonic. They decide to take him to a hospital. Grumps secretly hopes he dies. Grumps plays innocent, but Tad doesn’t buy it. Irene calls Grumps the worst thing that ever happened to her, and gets the heck out of there with Tad. As they drive, Irene cries, fearing the worst happened to their baby in the orphanage. Tad says, we will find her. They head to Poza Rica to find their daughter.

- Mrs. T is waiting in the hospital. The doctor comes out and says Mr. T had a stroke (accidente vascular). He’s in bad shape. The doctor tells Mrs. T there could be lasting effects, like to his speech, but they need to wait to see what happens. Mr. T struggles to speak, alone in his hospital bed. Poor guy looks devastated.

- Rod gets the gossip about what went down at the mansion from Irma. He confronts Grumps. Grumps plays innocent and says he just found out about the baby put in the orphanage in Poza Rica a few days ago. His intention was to find the child and then tell Irene. Yeah, right! Rod is not pleased. He wants to be the only heir!

- Paolo comes to the church to tell Mara the happy news about his parents. She is too upset about the latest confrontation with her mother to get happy. Her mother found her with Angela and slapped her around. Paolo is ticked, and wants to go tell her off. “You can’t keep living like this.” Mara tells him that Padre Juancho has decided to talk to her mom. Paolo gives her a big hug. Later that evening, Mara and Padre find that her mom Rosario has puts Mara’s stuff out of the house! She won’t open the door and tells Mara to beat it. Mara collapses in tears in the doorway. This is sad, but really, this is the BEST thing that ever happened to her. They gather her stuff, and Padre says she can stay with him until he can talk sense into her mom. (Don’t go back, Mara!)

- Brat gets huffy with Nat after hearing that their BOSS Irene is going away on a trip. She turns down the family dinner at El’s, and when she hears that “Diego” isn’t going to the dinner either, because he’s caring for Grumps (yeah, right), she decides he must want to meet up with her. She’s correct. He’s waiting for her in the apartment and is ready to go-- no foreplay, no meal, no romantic words, no flowers, no candles, nada, zip. Brat tells him he can’t just come over without telling her first, or he might have another R. Kelly, trapped in the closet moment. He tells her to break up with Al. She says they need him as a cover, and thought bubbles “…until I can trap you.”

- Alonso visits Alberto and they talk about their women troubles. At least neither one of them is drunk.

- At El’s house, he’s hired a manservant for the evening, his dining table is set formally, and he’s wearing a suit. The whole Garcia clan, plus Gino and Luz, and minus the Brat, arrives. Then Kimberly, her mom, and her mom’s hair arrive. Lots of jealousy and games between El and Carmen. Morales brings in a huge cake with a bride and groom, and the engagement ring El bought perched on the bride. El asks Kim to marry him! Idiot! Of course, she accepts. Carmen’s and Lupita’s faces fall. Luz isn’t that happy either, but manages to give a gracious speech welcoming Kim to the family. Carmen stands and gives a tearful speech: “You know that I love you…like a brother. I wish you immense happiness.” She and El share a tearful and very long hug, which Gino breaks up.

- Mrs. T confronts Grumps and demands that he put Mr. T in a better/private hospital. Grumps is less than friendly: “I should have fired you both a long time ago!”  Mrs. T is sure that if Mr. T did anything with the baby, it was on Grumps’ orders. “If that were true, who do you think the authorities are going to believe? The grandfather of the child, or a mere servant?” Mrs. T can’t argue with that.

- The next morning: Kim and her Mamita discuss the wedding, which will be in 3 months. Mamita Chula is sure her empanadas did the trick.  Rodiego spent the whole night with Brat. She rushes to get to work. Gino finds a picture of the fat wife the mob forced him to marry, Cunchetina. He remembers trembling at the altar next to a mobster with a gun to his back, while Cunchetina whispered in his ear that he was now hers, all HERS! He shudders and rips up the photo.

- Rod goes home and discovers a new, mature, and hopefully honest, nurse caring for Diego. He learns from Mrs. T that Irma left for Miami to care for an aunt, with Grumps’ permission. He is not happy.

-In an orphanage in Poza Rica, Irene and Tad learn that only one of the six kids interned there during that timeframe fits the profile of their missing daughter. They are filled with hope.

Tomorrow: Grumps pays off the detective Irene and Tad hired to find their daughter, NOT to find her. Rod also does his best to make sure the missing heir isn’t found.

Since I hadn't watched any of the previous episodes Kimberly's mom showed up in, it was a fun surprise to see that the character is being played by the same actress who played Matilde, the meek, austere, and faithful maid of the Torreslanda family in Un Refugio Para el Amor. What a different role for her! That hair was a whole character by itself.

Poor Tibuurcio. He really should have spilled the beans sooner. But really, I think Padre needs to intervene now that Tib has been silenced by his stroke. He got halfway there. He clearly intended to tell Irene and Tad all.

Now this show is getting to the good stuff again. Irene knows her missing daughter is really alive, I hope Father Juancho can tell Irene and Tadeo the truth about Natalia's heritage and that she's their daughter.

Glad, Irma left right on queue. Finally! She decided not to help Rodrigo anymore seeing as in he wants to off his own brother, he's really gone too far. There's a special place in hell for people like him. I was getting frustrated with how Irma was lately, but now I see she decided to not do any harm to Diego. I hope Diego wakes up soon before the wedding between Rodrigo (Diego 2) and Natalia can happen.

Finally, nearly everyone knows what kind of demon Vicente really is. I knew he was lying when he told Irene her daughter was in Poza Rica. Duh, her daughter works in Caprico with her and that daughter is Natalia, she was adopted by Carmen Garcia.

Sooo tired of the ridiculous middle school jealousy games that Carmen and Eleazar are playing. I can't stand Kimberly, but she doesn't deserve to be a pawn in El's stupid juvenile reaction to Carmen's engagement. And poor Gino ... she accepted his proposal KNOWING she's really in love with Eleazar. And sweet Lupita is just devastated. Paolo is happy now, but just wait until his parents break up (as they inevitably will)! Selfish much?

Thanks, Vivi, for your excellent recap.

Well, if Brat used all those adjectives to describe her nasty self, she is more self aware than I ever expected. People like Brat usually do not recognize their warped personalities.

As folks here suspected, Brat has evidently also been having sexy times with Big Al. Yikes, when Eager Al pounced on tiny Brat on that bed I thought that he might crush her. Brat is getting worse and worse. Is she redeemable ?

The game that El and Carmen are playing is getting tiresome. Life is short..."Make haste; the golden moments fly., (Longfellow)

Vivi: Simply outstanding! My heavens, this was hardly "quick and dirty", but rather "detailed and divine.

"She sees through Grumps’ act and realizes that he’s the same maldito (a**hole) as before", " He has a sad" and "... or he might have another R. Kelly, trapped in the closet moment" were among my many favorites.

Irma really got under my skin. As you noted "Irma is shocked, shocked!". Really? Pleezzze. Perhaps she would not be directly culpable for Diego's murder (which we know won't occur), she deserves losing her license and yes, jail time. Immoral and unethical - guilty as charged.

Poor "T"! Grumps is becoming the major villain here, quickly becoming on a loathsome par with Rod.

I wanted to reach through the screen and hug Lupita. Not only does Carmen make (yet another) poor decision but El compounds it by proposing to Kim. Unworthy of both characters.

Anon, while rejoicing Irene and Tad know their daughter is alive, I fear the real heartbreak is still ahead and they likely will strive fruitlessly to find her. Will the padre speak? I'm sure something will occur that prevents that and the truth will remain hidden for some time.

Susanlynn, call me cynical but I suspect Brig was throwing out those unenviable traits, not because she felt they pertained to her, but simply as a way to avoid marrying Al. Thank you for the "Make haste; the golden moments fly" - wonderful advice.

Vivi, I would never have recognized Kim's mother from Un Refugio, what a good eye you have.

Thank you - this was great.

Diana

thanks vivi your recollection of detail is amazing

I for one am glad El is marrying Kim and not Carmen.

El - even stone succumbs to the environment

Carmen - had your shot, you collect suitors like beanie babies

Irene - the past is back to taunt you

Tad - find that daughter and Irene is yours

Brigitte - slime share

Irma - real conscience requires intervention not flight

Rod - it's hard when an employee no longer emotionally invested

Gino - damn man you should have let the guy shoot you

Vivi thanks for your recap. I have to echo Diana's complement as this was hardly a bare bones recap but "detailed and divine."

Does anyone get the feeling that aside from the mob, Gino has a wife back in Sicily and that's why he won't ever go back? I'm with Anon@5:31 am and Susanlynn about the silly games Carmen and El are playing.

tofie, another great list and ITA w/you and Diana, Irma's fleeing does not absolve her of all she has done to Diego.

Hi, Vivi,

I agree Diana and Karen that this was hardly a superficial recap. Well done with sparkling detail.

I don't know why, but little things like Rod's tie sticking out of the closet door while Brat was being crushed on the bed by Big Al are amusing to me.

Regarding Irma, I agree with tofie that real conscience requires more that flight, but what she is doing is better than what she has been doing, and will put Rod between a rock and a hard place. Somehow Mrs. T telling Rod that she's going to Miami must have some significance, but I don't understand how.

My impression is that Padre got his information about Irene's baby during a confession. If that is the only way he had access to this information then the seal of confession is absolute, and he may not divulge that information.

David

Tofie..thanks for another list if short but sweet wit and wisdom. I like your style.

P.s. I am waiting for Big Al to find out that he has been sharing his naughty NOvia (Bleeccchhh ) with randy Rodiego and send him flying...and we all know that Big Al could send that slacker sailing through the air. Go, Big Al.

Hola Amigos! Thanks for commenting!

I too am not happy with El and Carmen. It is not cool at all what they are doing to Gino and Kimberly.

Refresh my memory (because there are many episodes that I missed), Gino explained to Carmen that the reason he disappeared all those years ago was because the mob forced him to marry, correct? Did he ever say what happened to the wife? Why is she assuming that he is single again? I'm also going on that assumption, since Gino doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would be a bigamist. But perhaps he also had no other choice but to escape Italy to escape her/the mob's clutches and a divorce wasn't an option. In any case, we know his Sicily troubles are coming back to bite him in the butt soon. I just hope that Paolo doesn't get hurt in the process-- any more than he will be by his parents not marrying after all (since Carm is in love with El).

Susanlynn- I can't wait for Alberto to find out the Rodiego has been boinking his novia. With Diego's luck, the reveal will happen just as he's getting out of his coma and he'll mistakenly get the beating that was intended for Rod.

Like most of you, I don't care how sorry Irma is, she is still an accessory to the crime of kidnapping, drugging, and endangering the life of Diego. She could have least left a note for Grumps or Irene telling them what was happening when she took off. She's still leaving Diego's fate in Rod's hands, and she knows Rod intends to kill him. As a nurse she gets a F grade!

Every time I see how Grumps interacts with Irene, I understand why she's such a mess. What an awful parent that man is! I also understand why Rod turned out the way he did. He learned from the best. How did Diego turn out to be such a sweet, normal goofball?

MX eps 95-97

Vivi- I agree with others that this is too detailed to be called "quick and dirty."

And thank goodness it is detailed because my DVR did not record the last hour. I'm grateful for the details, but sort of glad I didn't have to watch it. (Por Siempre was listed as being on tonight, so I'm assuming that's why I only got an hour yesterday. Glad I checked or my recap would have been an hour short!)

I'm worried that Irene and Tad are going to make an incorrect assumption and we are going to have a false Nat fill in for a while.

I've always had the impression Diego and Irene are closer than Rod and Irene. Perhaps that's how he turned out so cute, lovable and goofy.

Thanks Jose Angel! I suspect when we drop back down to 1 hour episodes next Friday we'll be getting 2 episodes in one. So the 80-ish remaining episodes will only take 2 months to get through rather than 4.

Sara- My dvr did the same thing! Each Thursday evening, it lists the second hour as PSMA, but not on other days. That's why last week I was unable to recap a part of the episode since I had no recording of it.

It's really annoying!! I'm glad I caught it!

Gracias, Vivi! This was by no means "quick and dirty" unless you're referring to Brigitte's tawdry escapades :)

Yeah...Irma...always the look of surprise, which makes no sense after she's gotten a daily--if not hourly--reminder that Rodrigo is a slimeball who's not to be trusted. At this point, I think the drugs should be out of Diego's system by the end of the day, unless Rod finds another nurse or tries to dope Diego up himself. What is taking the blood work Alonso ordered so long?! Maybe they cut something about that.

I remember Gino saying he had to get married, but unless they edited it out, he never said anything about what happened to his wife. The way she was threatening him in the flashback, saying he'd never be able to get away from her, I don't doubt she's still alive and out to get him. Or she's dead and her family is.

Thanks, Kat. I didn't remember any details about what happened to the wife either, but I so agree that either the wife, her family, or both are coming for him.

Tks for the great recap

Nothing to add except, haven't Eleazor & Morales done a whole lot to be fired for & maybe even some carcel time? The thing with detaining & taking Irene to an isolated location at the request of Alonso? Now the phony thing in the restaurant. They are scaring the crap of of someone, which could have turned tragic & they are closing down restaurant. Sue, sue!
I seem to recall they did sth else unethical, maybe Jaiba?

Love Eleasor, buuuuuut????

Forgot, El goes to a fancy restaurant & immediately becomes a waiter??????QTH?

They probably do at least 1 thing per episode that they ought to have been fired for already. In addition to only having worked on 1 case the entire show and none at all since El became the head of Homicide.

1 hr due to World Cup, Gooooool!!!!!

The waiter thing was Gino's "prize" for winning the soccer match.

Right, but does anyone in a "1st class gourmet restaurant" want a cop
as a waiter? OK, he is the head of homicide. And he is Marcelo!!

I don't think the point was ever for El to wait on anyone but Gino and Carmen, so Gino could humiliate him as much as possible by forcing him to be part of his proposal to Carmen.

Yep. What Kat said. Plus, Gino knows the owner of the restaurant, so it was pretty easy to get El in their as his and Carmen's personal waiter.

The killers don't dare to kill anyone, now that Marcelo, I mean Eleazar, is in charge.

Plus any murders that occurred would have to be linked to our current characters, and who can we see getting murdered? Gino by the mob? Too sad for Paolo. Will Rod succeed in murdering someone? Can't be Diego, since he's the galan. Will Grumps kill Mr. T before he regains the ability to speak? A possibility. Hard to included murder in a light/comedy tn without changing the tone.

I don't see anyone getting murdered, not for lack of trying, but probably going to the other side of their own means, like Diana. Rod will expire in a similar way.

Isn't this a comedy?
