TELEMUNDO Y MÁS: THE FRONT PAGE -- El Señor de los Cielos II, En Otra Piel, et cetera, week of June 2, 2014

Sometimes it's fun to look back and see what we were watching (and recapping) a year ago. In June, 2013, there was only one Telemundo y Más post a week and we were watching El Señor de los Cielos I! In addition, Pasión Prohibida and La Patrona were on. At the end of the month, we made the transition to Monday postings to better accommodate Friday recaps and comments. So thanks for looking back with me and now on to the comments for the coming week's shows.

EN OTRA PIEL – LUNES – Part 1

Diego is resting on his bed in the pensión when the spirit of Adriana appears beside him and tell him to find the dije so she can return to him. She tells him she loves him. He opens his eyes; she’s not there, and he searches the whole house for her.

We again see Mondriana ask Gerardo which it is that he loves: her body or her soul. He responds that he loves everything about her. She tells him she’s angry because he left a message that she had to see him or he’d not answer for the consequences. She thinks that’s a threat.

At the hospital Eileen tells Ricardo not to be ashamed of working as a cleaner. When she was in school in NYC, she walked dogs and waited on tables. He says he feels like a failure. She tells him he’s like all superheroes: They blame themselves for what they don’t do and don’t value what they do. She gets him to laugh, comparing his killing germs to superhero work.

Ernest brings Sourpuss home after their dinner – the one in which he got her up to dance in an exclusive restaurant. But he only gets a kiss on the cheek.

Diego tells Lupe and Valeria that Adriana was there a little while ago. [After he wakes both of them up staggering around the house like a bull in a china shop.]

Back to the lake house, and Mondriana hits Gerardo where it hurts most. She sarcastically says that, of course, he fell for a young and attractive woman full of desire after having spent so much time with older women! He denies ever being a gigolo, even swears it.

Diego remembers the night he spent with Adriana [after her ride home with Mónica Serrano] and when she walked in her sleep and almost fell off the balcony. He also remembers her frantically tearing the place apart after he woke her up. She told him that the shaman who gave her the dije told her it would keep her soul in her body.

Eileen even pitches in with her own mop to help Ricardo finish up and says then they can go for coffee.

We also see another memory of Diego’s walking on the beach with Adriana. At first she thinks he’s sneaking peeks at her cleavage, but he asks about the dije.

Elena is tossing and turning thinking about the burned doll.

Gerardo tells Mondriana that the past doesn’t matter; that the two of them love each other, yada yada. She pushes him away saying she doesn’t want his body, his kisses or his passion. Gerardo starts to freak out. “What happened to you? At first you drive me crazy and then you change your mind.” Mondi: “Are you going to force me to go to bed with you?” Gerardo: “Stop playing with me!” Mondi: “If you take me, it will be by force and then I will turn you in for rape.” Gerardo: “Why’d you take off your clothes at the pool and then have candles and rose petals in your room?” Mondi: “Maybe because I adore you. Maybe it’s because I love you, and maybe it’s because I’m crazy!” After this, she leaves.

At breakfast Selma tells Eileen that it speaks well of Ricardo that he was cleaning floors to help his father because of the loss of the bookstore. And he should not have been ashamed.

Elena, in her usual good mood these days [not] calls Gerardo, who’s asleep on Ernesto’s sofa. She starts raving at him, and he says she’s become unbearable and that he’ll see her at the office.

Valeria has brought Diego breakfast in his room. But he starts right in asking if she ever saw Mondriana wearing the dije (he describes it). He goes on thoughtlessly telling Vale how much he loves Adriana. The poor thing tells him she’s there for him.

EN OTRA PIEL – LUNES – Part 2

Susana tells Emiliana about the doll that Elena said was in her room and then it wasn’t there. Susi thinks it could be black magic.

Elena discovers Jennifer in the kitchen and practically bites her head off. Marta comes to the rescue. When Elena asks why she didn’t bring her around to introduce her, Marta responds they were just about to do that. This doesn’t mollify the resident perra, who just snarls that no one does things right in this house.

Forgot to mention that Elena has dug up some awful silver hot pants from the 70s and is sporting them with black stockings. Actually just the outfit is enough to scare Vicki, who just about drops her pills when Elena appears in the doorway. She grills Vicki about what Mónica did with the kids’ old toys. Vicki: no clue.

Gabriel points out to his brother that Eileen really does love him, helping him clean floors, unlike Sourpuss.

Anselmo tries to get Diego to come back to Martin’s auto shop, but Diego says he’s not a criminal.

Mondriana has some fun with Elena. When she emerges with the awful hot pants, Mondriana screams as she pulls the burned doll out of the garbage. She really pours it on. She said she has to confess she didn’t believe Elena about the doll. But now! How horrible! Who could have burned this poor doll? [!] Who’s trying to scare all of us. Mondriana tries to get her to go inside and show everyone the doll, but Elena grabs it and leaves for work. We see Mondriana’s satisfied face.

Rodrigo tells his sons that a guy named Juan Cepeda wants to rent the bookstore and put a pool hall in there.

Whoops! Emiliana meets Jennifer in the kitchen. Jen says she’s Gabriel’s girlfriend, and Marta confirms it. Emiliana leaves rather quickly. Poor kid.

Rod has made a handshake deal with the guys about the pool hall. Ricardo tells him not to do it. The bookstore was the only cultured place in the whole neighborhood. Just then some guys arrive with a delivery. Rodrigo keeps saying there must be a mistake. It’s books and shelving and furniture. It’s 1,500 books. Rod is handed a note that says: “Don’t give up” that is signed by Mónica Serrano!

We see Rodrigo excitedly opening the cartons. Ricardo says there are novels, short stories, poetry, even textbooks. Rod is overjoyed to find a first edition of Pedro Páramo [a simply fabulous novel by the Mexican writer Juan Rulfo that we read in my Spanish class]. Rod tells Ricardo the book is worth a lot. He says he doesn’t know if it was MS or not, but wherever she is, may God bless her. He’s smiling happily.

The brothers Fonsi are squabbling as usual when Miss Hotpants arrives and throws the burned doll on Gerardo’s desk at work.

Diego has come to the Guest House to see Mondriana and asks her where the talisman the shaman gave her is. Why doesn’t she wear it?

En Otra Piel
Great recap, Novelera. Many thanks!

I'd never heard of Pedro Páramo, nor the author and didn't catch the name when Rodrigo said it. Is it well-known in Mexico? How difficult is the Spanish?

En Otra Piel

thanks so much novelera,

I've been having on again / off again captions and you're recaps and comments help to keep me caught up and interested.

so Diego has zero'd in on the 'dije' (after how many years of going with Adriana), and I was waiting for them to show a flashback in the morgue without it, (when she woke up saying she was Monica), this doesn't fare well for the invisible Valeria. (and was that Adriana in the mirror when Monica was talking to Diego)

and at the big house, Jennifer already has Susi, Emi, and Elena against her, and I'm sure Camila the ice berg won't be charmed either, so that leaves Lorena, Vicky, and Geraldo, I hope she does better with Monica. (and how long before the barrio enforcers or Carlos show up there as well)

CIELOS:

Good think Monica had that secret compartment in her bathroom with tons of cash, jewels and a gun. And Irina sure was shocked when Monica appeared after the gala!

AC is really sick. He still thinks Ximena will come back to him, even though he killed her father, and has cheated on her dozens of times. And Xime doesn't know it, but what would she think if she knew AC killed his trusted friend Ronnie, just to try to throw Chema off the track one more time?

Ximena is the one who needs the witness protection program, not Turco. It's amazing he snowed the authorities so much, when he's as dirty as the rest of the druglords.

I wasn't too happy that Dona Alba gave Matilde some money for Mati's new "business", but I guess she was grateful that Mati's contacts has helped AC find her when she was kidnapped.

Bert isn't enjoying guarding those businessmen. This isn't their normal business, and by doing it, they're opening themselves up to discovery - such as by Leo.

I really liked the tight dresses worn by Leo, Irina and Monica. Yes, I'm bad.

El Señor
At least two things surprised me last night. One is that Aurelio really did think that he and Ximena could just start over, in spite of all his infidelities and, especially, his killing her father.

The other thing I found surprising is that everyone accepted Ronnie's corpse as being Aurelio's. No one even looked for the tell-tale scars that Aurelio had gone to such pains to duplicate on his poor cousin. When I saw the face of the corpse near the end of the episode, it looked as if it had been burned. (??) Would a bullet have had that effect? And even with the face somewhat distorted, I'm still surprised that people who knew Aurelio pretty well didn't see that this was someone else. (I guess it's beanie-tightening time. Again.)

Cielos

thanks so much Hombre!
I'm having trouble following this one,

(and thanks Variopinta for Fridays)

say, isn't Cepeda (Turco's main man) the guy from the first season that Turco had hide/bury a body (was it the one Heriberto shot and left) that Turco could use for insurance against Aurelio, and the same guy this season that let him go after Turco killed the other guard?

and earlier, that call Cabo got, wasn't that letting him know that Lorelei was in town, sister to Óscar Cadena whom he killed?

wow, Aurelio shot poor Ronnie in the face, "thanks for helping out".

En Otra Piel

Juanita, Pedro Páramo is considered one of the seminal works in the Spanish language. It was published in 1955, and Gabriel García Márquez was said to have called it a major influence, along with Faulkner.

It was a difficult read. Our Spanish teacher called it a rompecabezas (puzzle). It's told from the points of view of several characters in a Mexican town, most of them ghosts! I adored the book!

Cielos

Deb, that guy in the first season is totally a different guy than Cepeda. The first guy's name was Chuy.

And yes, you are correct about Cabo's call about Lai being in town. I have no idea why he found it amusing though.

Interesting to see where Turco goes from here. He mentioned he was going back to Mexico DF to see someone. Wonder who?

Also, as Leo was researching the case of those kidnapped, she mentioned something about how that used to be a tactic that thr Villalobos used to use. Anybody else catch that?

Hombre, I am with you on the short dresses. Leo is smoking hot!!

-VRO

En Otra Piel:
Great recap, Novelera! I'm so glad you mentioned the ghastly hotpants worn over tights. If I tried for 100 years, I couldn't have come up with something uglier.

So Mondriana ordered a whole used bookstore from somewhere. That would not be an easy thing to do unless she bought the stock of someone going out of business. And when has she have the time to do all that between gaslighting Elena, teaching Emiliana, teasing Gerardo and comforting Selma?

Poor Valeria. She is going to get her heart broken.

En Otra Piel (sort of)

Novelera, thanks very much for the information about Pedro Páramo. It sounds intriguing, though I'm not sure my Spanish is up to the challenge.

Cielos

Cabo & Tijera's had a laugh about Lei being in town & being Matilde's friend, saying they were were 2 of a kind. So far I don't agree with that.

Yes, those dresses are short, but don't we ladies wish we could pull it off? If you got it flaunt it.

En Otra Piel

Jean, I'm pretty sure Rodrigo made a comment that most of the books that were received were new ones. I think the used ones were valuable older first editions, like Pedro Paramo. I remember Rod bemoaning the fact that some of the destroyed books were valuable, and I think Mondi (by telenovela magic) managed to order some of those as well.

En Otra Piel:

That makes sense, Novelera, or at least as much sense as can be expected from a novela about a person whose soul migrates into another's body. ;-)

It was surprising that Diego had so little memory of the dije and why Adriana wore it after they had lived together for years. If it had been me, I would have thought I had lost it and panicked about 50 times so that my partner would say, "You haven't lost your damned dije again, have you?"

Señor

I hope the firefights are over for a while. Frankly, they bore me. At least 100 bullets always miss the main characters. And we get to see lots of poor narco henchmen mowed down. The various "teams" show up in a couple of cars or SUV's, and then it appears like 40 guys fire at each other.

Aurelio certainly fits the description of a sociopath. He just couldn't grasp the fact that Ximena couldn't just move on from his having murdered her father with his bare hands!

Mathilde has gotten worse this season, or else the actress is overdoing it. She's so nasty I can hardly watch her scenes.

I was surprised to see Irina back again. I can't remember what interactions she had with Mónica Robles, but her appearing certainly sent La Rusa back on her heels.

Did Turco get shot again by one of Chacorta's men? I thought he was shot, but he didn't look like anything bothered him later.

Cielos

Novelera, Monica and Irina hated each other in the first season because they were fighting over Aurelio. If I remember correctly, Monica sent her men to destroy her Irina's paintings to send a msg.

And yes, Turco was grazed on his shoulder by a bullet from Chacorta, therefore he was able to escape.

-VRO

Cielos

Thanks, VRO. Good memory! I had totally forgotten about Irina's destroyed paintings and that Mónica arranged that.

Cielos
Novelera, I'm glad you said what you did about the firefights. I too have become increasingly bored with them. I'm also a bit surprised that more people aren't hit when shots (especially from a machine gun) seem pointed right at them.

I agree with you also about Mathilde.

Variopinta, I too think that there's a substantial difference between Lai and Mathilde, perhaps because M. is even more over the top in Señor 2 than she was last year.

In a previous comment I had said that I was surprised that no one who looked at the corpse said no, this isn't Aurelio. Well, Cabo must have heard me, because last night he spoke up and said exactly that. Even so, it seems as if no one is believing him.

Last night it seemed clear that the writers are having the whole world is against Leo (except for Ponte and perhaps a woman who works with them whose name I don't recall). I assume Leo will prevail, both because she's such a compelling character and because I doubt the writers would kill off Marco AND Leo in the same season. But I have my hand on my beanie tightener, por si acaso.

CIELOS:

I think Chema asked Andrews to send his forensic people to look at this latest AC cadaver. I doubt this one will have the scars. It's only a matter of time before everyone knows AC is alive.

I think Ponte's friend's name is Drusila, or something like that. Yes, it's terrible that Ponte is being threatened with his career, and Leo would spend years in prison for disobeying orders and catching the biggest druglord in Mexico.

Irina got threatened by Leo, by Turco and then by Monica, all in the space of 2 episodes.

I loved that Mati signed up for a new location for their brothel, or whatever it is, needing a deposit of $100,000. So she asked Dona Alba. Too bad Alba had just given all her money (in a duffel bag of course) to the Church!

Did anyone catch the name of that blonde prosecutor who is also out to get Leo?

Cielos

thanks Hombre!

the prosecutor (played by Erika de la Rosa who was Irene in "La Patrona") is listed in the cast as Elsa Marín.

I really don't understand the whole 'get Leo' thingy.

Amaya is really overacting and the actress playing Matilde uff uff it's getting tiresome. AC is too much and poor Ximena all they guys are using her. I hate Turco what a turd. I am glad mOnica is back and she better starts kicking some butts.

Cielos:

Finally got to watch a full episode the other day. I think I'll only be watching this one on and off. Thanks everyone for filling in some of the holes in the comments.

I'm glad Monica is alive because I felt that character got snuffed out before she really got to do anything. Now with her brothers gone, and knowing that she and AC can never be (first off because she thinks he's dead; secondly because she now knows he would easily kill her), I'm hoping she'll become even stronger.

I feel so bad for Ximena. There really is little hope for her to get out of this narco life with her children like she so desperately wants. AC has her kids and the only way I can see her getting them back is by returning to him. I don't see him giving her enough freedom again to plot another escape. She was barely able to do so last time.

EN OTRA PIEL

Just a couple of things I remembered.

After being again confronted by Diego and his refusing to accept her saying she'd explain it all later, she finally was cornered into saying she didn't love him any more. This was meant to signal to him that she'd really been Adriana all along, did not have a memory loss, and just was over him. Lots of pain.

The Bros. Fonsi and Elena snipe at each other some more. Elena wants security cameras, but G rightly says whoever is gaslighting (Thanks for that, Jean) her would see the installation and they wouldn't be able to catch them. They agree on a secret installation by Ernie by the big piano that everyone keeps looking at. That won't work as Mondriana plays from the secret room.

Ricardo annoys me by telling his dad he should send back the books. He thinks it's a trap by Elena. But Marta shows up and fills them in on some of the Mónica visitations at Casa Serrano.

Jorge offers to buy the Larrea Wineries. Gerardo is intrigued, but Elena goes ballistic after Jorge leaves. She wants the winery because she has to win, no matter what. [Of course, Elena and Gerardo can't go off with the proceeds of a sale because we'd lose our villainess.]

Carlos and El Pachuco are looking at the "design modifications" to the Larrea truck. I think EP said he already had some poor girls captured or slated for capture. I hate this aspect of the show and I hope we don't see any more brothel scenes. Please, writers.

That's about all I remember.

CIELOS

Hombre, Chema finding out that the corpse isn't AC doesn't completely prove that the person whose corpse was found in the operating room wasn't really AC all along. But I'm sure Chema will now be sure he's alive.

I felt like throwing things at my TV set when Andrews was questioning Ximena and the children. Ximena kept her composure, saying she knew the laws of the US, and he had no right to question minors. He had a look on his face after that like he'd like to slap her.

I guess last night was the first time it sunk in on me that the President of Mexico is also an ungrateful SOB who wants Leo in jail after all she did for the country of Mexico.

Chacorta is an ass! He wants Victor Jr., just because he's a possession. When Ximena told him Mathilde would never love the child the way she did, I could tell from the expression on his face that he knew what she said was true. But he's willing to subject the boy to losing Ximena, Rutila and the little girl as a family in order to spend some "quality time" with the very definition of an Evil Stepmother.

I think the blonde prosecutor is dirty also. I seem to recall her having a significant conversation with Andrews. Can anyone else confirm that?

Cielos

When they found the bodies if the dead doctors, did it include the 3rd doctor that they were going to kill slowly?

-VRO

Cielos:

Novelera- So, Ximena somehow gets hold of the kids in yesterday's episode? How did that happen? I was sure AC was not going to let her get near the kids again if she didn't fall in line. ITA about Chacorta wanting to take his son away from a woman who loves him, and put him into Mati's hands. I thought the same thing during series 1 when he planned to take him away from his school teacher mom. It just made no sense.

Cielos
AC wanted the kids out of there for their protection. Who would protect them the very best, Ximena!. Pobre Victorcito is in danger & AC told one of his henchmen, I think Trino, to protect him with his life.

OK AC is one bad hombre, but he loves his kids & to a lesser degree, his nephew.

Cielos

Vivi, Aurelio does love his children. I was surprised too that he let Ximena leave with them. But he made a remark to Chacorta about their not being safe by his side. And he asked his new henchman (can't remember the name) the cousin of the one he murdered in cold blood to fool Chema) to follow them so he would know where they were.

En Otra Piel

Thanks, Novelera, for the recap. Per Deb, Andriana was in the mirror while Mondriana was talking with Diego. I didn't notice but Mondi and Diego are probably the only one's who can "see" her. I'm glad to see her soul fighting for control of the body.

Selma has been desperately seeking the Soul of Esteban. I guess it's asking too much for his soul to somehow commuinicate the truth about his death to her.

I didn't forsee Emi's love interest in Gabe, but now, as stated by another recapper, I think time will advance some years and an older Emi will be with Gabe.

Sadly, things don't look good for Jennifer. I'm also bored with Rottweiler but I'm sure he'll be around for a while.

I was really hoping that Diego would open up to Rodrigo about Mondriana. Especially since Rodrigo believes that somehow the real Monica gifted the books to him. Together they have enough information to solve the Mondriana mystery.

Spanish Student

En Otra Piel

Valeria's interst in Diego is also torturous. He's so clear that he's not interested. But she's passively pursuing him which means she'll be hurt later on. I'd hate to see her become Mondriana's enemy. Thankfully he walked away after see her in her undies last night.

Spanish Student

CIELOS:

I'm very glad to read that AC has some common sense about the welfare of the kids. Too bad Chacorta isn't the same way.

ESCRITO

Just popping in to say that today Sofia and Beatriz were stomach-churning.

EN OTRA PIEL, Wed. pt. 1

Mondriana is listening to Adriana in the mirror tell her she wants her body back. She naturally freaks out a bit and Gerardo hears. He comes in, looks around, and sees nada. He tries to calm her down.

Pobre de Diego is all sad face. And then Vale comes in and tried to cheer him up. He stops her, but suddenly gone into seductress mode. But he says no and tells her she deserves someone who loves her the way she should be loved, no a guy who’s hung up on someone else. He turns her down in the nicest way possible.

Elena, that harpie shrew, tells Marta that no way could Monica Serrano have sent all those books, and besides, you know how those alcoholics are (as Lorena is right there watching). She harps on this a bit.

Mondri asks Ger what he heard. She says she was talking to the other woman in the mirror. Ger is probably wondering why he attracts crazy women.

Elena continues to scoff at Marta. She doesn’t believe in ghosts and doesn’t believe Monica could have sent those books. This is all a plot to annoy her. Marta just feels sorry for her, that she can’t see Marta is trying to help by telling her strange stuff is happening other than just in the house.

Susanna makes Jennifer deal with the burned doll since she’s the new girl. She asks Vicki for help but Vicki has things to do, like NOT touch a gross burned up doll.

Mondri is still with Ger. She asks him what he thinks happens after you die. He’s not interested in this topic. She tells him that this woman she saw in the mirror is there for a reason and ties this to the doll and the piano. Nice save, Mondriana.

Selma wants to call someone who talks to the dead. She’s talking to Esteban’s box about whether she should. She wonders what he’s say about all this, but she really needs to be able to tell him goodbye. She makes the call.

Diego is STILL talking to Vale. He’s being nice but she’s totally embarrassed by now and leaves the room.

Lorena tells Elena that she was a brat with Marta. Elena doesn’t care because she’s busy blaming Jorge now for everything. Lorena explains that if Jorge had a problem with her, he’d tell her directly and not play all these games.

Ger asks if Mondri thinks that the soul of Monica can’t rest because they are lovers, and mondri says, in part, yes. Ger thinks they are losing time and he just wants to enjoy whatever time they have together. They kiss but she stops him.

Elena isn’t impressed by Jorge. Lorena points out that she suspects everyone and this will keep going on and on and on. Elena almost looks like she’s listening, but then Lorena tries to convince her to start being a better person and treat people better, so Elena probably isn’t listening.

EN OTRA PIEL, Wed. pt.2

I didn’t catch why the doll had to be kept, but Jenny has the doll in her room sitting on the chair and she can’t sleep because it creeps her out. Or maybe because she has her lights on. She calls Gabe.

Eileen is singing while she mops floors in the hospital when Ricardo comes by. She yells at him to get off her clean floor, and he gets that she’s trying to show him that this work is dignified. She may have the romantic notions of a 16-year old, but she’s way too good for Ricardo. She invites to get a hot dog on their break. They eat, and when ketchup falls on the floor, they clean it up together, Eileen says they should open a cleaning business together. Then he ruins everything by mentioning Camila’s name.

Vale is moping in bed when Maite comes home. Vale thinks she was an idiot and passes on the story to Maite, who comforts her. Meanwhile, Dona Lupe bring Diego a drink and talks to him about how Vale is in love with him.

Ger tries again to kiss Mondriana but they are interrupted by Elena knocking on the door. She wants to make Mondriana her trusted confidante and help her find out who’s doing this. She needs Mondri’s help. Anyone buying this? Ger makes his escape when she leaves.

Jenny yells at the doll and Gabe comes in. He talks sense about the doll being juyst a piece of plastic. He covers it with a blanket and offers to stay with her.

Ger goes back to the big house and immediately gets nagged at by Elena. He smooths things over and she goes upstairs to wait for him. The next morning, she tells him what a great idea she had to get Monica on her side.

Mondri tells Selma about the mirror incident, and Emi bounces into the room wanting to go to the bookstore, where Rod is restocking shelves.

Jorge catches Camila at the door and they go back inside to talk. He tells her about his offer to Gerardo to buy the winery, and that Ger wanted to think about it. Cami tells Elena about this when she walks in the room. Then
Lorena comes down and greet Jorge. He invites her to do something with la vendimia (wine harvest) and looks are exchanged between Cami and Elena. When they leave, Elena warns her to be careful of him. He might try to get everything for himself.

Emi checks out the bookstore while Mondri gets the scoop from Matie about what’s up at the pension. Mondri then goes to see Vale. She tries to talk to her, but Vale finally tells her to leave. She goes downstairs and runs into Diego. She has the nerve to warn Diego about being careful with Vale, and he’s like “Careful? Who are YOU to tell me to be careful?” After what she did to him, he’s offended that she’d say this to him. Then he grabs her and kisses her! She’s shocked, especially when he says, ”You aren’t Adriana! Who are you?” Whoa.

Kelly

En Otra Piel
Terrific recap, Kelly! I laughed at "Ger is probably wondering why he attracts crazy women." He might indeed wonder, though he's been such a womanizer in the past that he may simply think that ALL women are/should be attracted to him, even the crazies.

I'm nervous about Jennifer's having the doll in her room. I suspect that Susanna is up to no good, especially since she has the hots for Gabriel and thus would probably like to make trouble for Jennifer. In other words, I don't think it's just that Susanna is afraid of the doll.

I find it hard to see what Eileen sees in Ricardo. I suppose he's guapo, though frankly I find his brother much more so. But guapo or not, Ricardo is such a [fill in the blank]. Oh well, at least he had the good sense to realize what an ass he was to mention Camila to Eileen.

I was impressed with Gerardo's slickness last night when Elena confronted him about where he had been. "It's not where I've been but where I want to be" was a stroke of mujeriego genius.

En Otra Piel:
Thanks, Kelly, for the great recap of Wednesday's capitulo and to Novelera for the quickie on Tuesday's.

Why does Jennifer have to keep the crispy-critter doll? I thought Elena told the staff to get rid of it. Why does Jennifer have her own room so that she can entertain men at night while Susanna has to share a room with Vicky?

I really feel sorry for Selma. Her friend's soul comes back from the dead to fix things in her former life but she doesn't merit the same from Esteban. What makes Monica's soul so special?

I agree that Eileen is much too good for Ricardo. When someone takes a rotten job like being a janitor in a hospital just to be with you, you have to be a real jerk to bring up your former girlfriend.

I also agree that Diego should be able to figure out what is going on with Mondriana or at least make a pretty good guess.

En Otra Piel
Jean, you said "I also agree that Diego should be able to figure out what is going on with Mondriana or at least make a pretty good guess." Really? Unless Diego watches telenovelas, why would it ever occur to him that Monica is in Adriana's body? Remember how disbelieving Selma was when Mondri first told her what had happened. I suspect that even though I do watch telenovelas, I'd not believe someone who made such a claim. And what you're suggesting is even more unlikely, namely, that Diego should be able to figure out what's going on with Mondriana even without her trying to explain it to him.

CIELOS:

So it looks as if Elsa, the prosecutor, is no dummy (unlike Ramos). She's wondering just why is everyone so keen on shutting up Leonor? She suspects Andrews, but unfortunately she makes the "good guy" mistake of telling him openly she doubts him. This gives him a chance to outfox her. He's also found out when the President and Drug Czar's meeting will be, calling Chema, who can tell Cabo and Tijeras. Tijeras still has his doubts, this is too big, but I think Cabo's going to go for it.

Just as Ximena escapes her idiot witness protection guard, and is thinking of going back to AC, we also see Irina telling Monica they should team up, telling her AC betrayed them both. Irina wonders who's AC's latest conquest, and we see that it's Lai! Well, she sort of conquers HIM, in the tub, but he's not resisting. She tells him his secret is safe, and that she wants revenge against Cabo and Tijeras. AC is right with her in this one.

Since Alba didn't give Mati her $100,000, she goes to Chema. He sort of wants her to be his girl, and lose Chacorta. He offers her a little bag ($150,000) and a big bag ($1,500,000.00 - maybe it's pesos, but you get the idea). The little, she can just have, and pay back when she wants, the big, she's his girl. She's tempted, but ends up going with the chiquita.

Ponte and Leonor realize that Chacorta is using the exact same kidnap procedure as the Villalobos's (which VRO pointed out was funny, since that's the actress who plays Leo's last name in real life). The Casillas are such amateurs in this, they're predictable, and it could be their downfall.

And of course we get that look on AC's face when he answers the phone, and it's none other than Monica Robles!

CIELOS
Muchísimas gracias, Hombre, for your recap. It cleared up a number of points for me that my Spanish simply couldn't handle.

So in spite of the prosecutor's calling for Leo's arrest, she (Elsa?) may be a good guy after all? Lord knows, Leo needs some more allies.

Question: why did Aurelio think that it was Ximena calling him (when it was Monica)? I realize that the call came on the "confianza" phone, but wouldn't it have shown the caller's phone number or perhaps even his/her name? I realize that the story doesn't take place in 2014, but it seems to me that many people seem to know who's calling before they answer. Or am I blending my telenovelas?

En Otra Piel

I think the evidence is there for Diego to figure it out but the writers may want to hold off. He remembered her soul leaving her body once when she was sleepwalking and how confused she was and later how frantic she was about finding the dije, something she has no interest in wearing now. Also the strange look she (Monica) gave him when she "returned from the dead". The girls have told him that she always said her name was Monica Serrano, although I'm not sure if they mentioned her playing the piano like a professional. And he knows that she's in love with Gerardo. He apparently hasn't realized that she died at the same time. I'd love it if Andriana appeared to him again and gave him a more concrete hint.

Not sure what happened in the original, but I'm hoping that Esteban communicates with Selma.

I didn't notice anything suspicious about Mondriana when she was in the bookstore yesterday. Perhaps because she rushed to see Vale but there was no look of responsibility. I guess the writers will move pass this. And since Elena has no interest in the issue, Mondriana must have taken the money from somewhere else.

En Otra Piel

thanks so much Kelly,
you write such wonderful recaps!

ah yes, I can see Diego spending night after night, pondering this over,
while Valeria lays alone, pining away.

I think Monica still has the $2 million from the coin sale that she was going to buy the vineyard with.

Cielos

wow Hombre, it always amazes me how you can tie a whole show together with a few paragraphs.

some history (time line) from wiki,

Amado Carrillo Fuentes (the real, el señor de los cielos) is recorded to have died 3july97,
"in a Mexican hospital after undergoing extensive plastic surgery to change his appearance"

"On November 7, 1997, the bodies of the two physicians who performed the surgery on Fuentes were found dead, encased in concrete inside steel drums, with their bodies showing signs of torture."

"He is regarded as one of the wealthiest criminals in history, with an estimated net-worth of US$ 25 billion."

on another note, I'm wondering if Elsa Marín is the Attorney General, (Procurador General de la República) because she seems to have a lot of pull, and according to wiki this office "is a member of the President's Cabinet." and "is responsible for the investigation and prosecution of federal crimes".

Cielos

Juanita, the reason Aurelio thought it was Ximena is because only Ximena, Chacorta, and Monica were the ones who had that phone number. Assuming that Monica is dead and Chacorta was in for the night, he figured it was Ximena calling late at night.

Also, I guess they did not have Caller ID on those mobile phones in the mid 90's, or if it did, maybe it just showed a ph # that AC did not recognize.

En Otra Piel

Thanks, Kelly! Great recap!

Loved the line about Gerardo and crazy women.

And, Juanita, yes, Susana is looking for ways to be spiteful to Jennifer because she was over the moon about Gabriel when he was coming on to her and didn't realize it didn't mean anything to him.

My understanding is that Susana gave Jen the doll to dispose of, but the understanding was that it was not to be in the Casa Serrano garbage. Her having to have it in her room seemed like a kind of dumb plot point.

Juanita, I also liked "stroke of mujeriego genius". How true! They keep emphasizing his well-honed skills at getting women to eat out of his hand. He even used that expression (in Spanish, of course) when describing to his brother how he'd handle Elena.

Hmmm. More telenovela magic. Diego can tell by a kiss (likely not reciprocated) that this woman is not Adriana?

A real coup would be having the actress who was Salvador's sidekick (a fake psychic) in El Cuerpo del Deseo make a reappearance as the person Selma meets! Jeannette Lehr played this character (Gaetana) and was fantastic!

Cielos

was Aurelio calling Lai, "troglodita"?

CIELOS
Thanks, VRO, for answering my question about why Aurelio thought it was Ximena calling him. I didn't realize that the number of people who had his "confianza" number was so small. (Hmmm...I bet Turco used to be on that list. I wonder whether he still has the number. :-) )

Cielos

Deb, she called herself "trogladita", I think in regard to her story of being betrayed by a Spaniard from a noble family.

Aurelio called her, several times, a word I've never heard. I think it was began with "tronde..." I wondered about it but forgot to make a note and thus did not remember what the word was nor was able to look it up.

CIELOS
Novelera, I think Aurelio called her something like "trompudita," at least I wrote that word down. When I looked it up, I found that trompudo meant big-lipped. I hadn't thought that Lai had big lips, but by the time I looked up the word, I was no longer watching the show, so I can't be sure. Indeed, I can't even be sure that "trompudita" is what Aurelio said.

Cielos

Novelera and Deb, I can confirm that AC did in fact call Lay "trompudita," which comes from the worf trompuda meaning big-lipped.

I was kinda stunned that Dona Alba turned on Ximena. I would think she would be more understanding, especially knowing that AC killed Don Cleto.

En Otra Piel – jueves – Part 1

We start with a replay of a frustrated Diego suddenly kissing Mondriana only to pull back and and say, “You are not Adriana. You look like her but you are not Adriana.” He says that now he understands what she has been telling him. He demands to know where Adriana is.

Camila asks Elena what she has against tio Jorge. Elena protests that she has nothing against Jorge but then proceeds to try and create doubts in Camila's mind. What do they really know about him? He didn't even show up for his brother's funeral. If Mónica really cared about her brother in law, she would have mentioned him in her will. If he fought with his brother, there must have been a reason, etc. Camila replies that it doesn't really matter anyway. The decision to sell the wine business is Gerardo's and Camila has no confidence in his business decisions especially since he hired a creep like Raul.

Ernesto gets more information about said Raul/Carlos from the private detective – what looks like a wanted poster - but in spite of what he promised earlier, he does not tell Gerardo about it. Gerardo is suspicious and once again demands to receive the information directly from the detective.

Jennifer and Susanna are burying the crispy-critter doll in the garden and Susanna continues to try and scare Jennifer out of the mansion by telling her of creepy goings on. Susanna even claims that the dog is possessed by Mónica's spirit and has been seen digging up Mónica's grave. Jennifer sort of laughs it off but it does seem to be having an effect.

Diego tries to prove that Mondrana is not Adriana by asking her how they met and where they lived in Mexico. He grabs her arm and she seems to have a physical reaction. At that moment, Selma comes in and takes Mondriana, who can barely walk, out of the house. Mondriana tells Selma that it is Adriana trying to get back into her body after the kiss.

En Otra Piel – jueves – Part 2

Jorge tells Lorena that he wants to buy the wine business to make things right for Camila and Emiliana. Then he tells her over and over how he and his brother Julián rebuilt the ruined house that was on the vineyard that they bought and that he knows EVERY CORNER of the house and that now that Mónica is dead, there isn't ANYONE who knows as much about the house as he does. In this heavy-handed way, we are to understand that he knows about the secret room.

Lorena and Jorge also talk about their past relationship and Lorena says that they had a fling but Jorge always was in love with Mónica. He agrees but says that doesn't mean that they can’t remember the good times in the past. Elena is watching this with her well-practiced “look of hatred.”

Valeria tells Diego to stay away from her because he can't care about her the way she cares about him.

Emiliana finds a book about real ghost stories and decides to give it to Elena for her birthday as a joke. Marta suggests that isn't such a good idea [ya think?] but Emi says that Elena deserves it. Rodrigo tells Marta that Ricardo has gotten a job cleaning floors in a hospital and Marta is very upset at the waste of his education and the loss of her dreams for his future. Ric overhears.

Selma gets Mondriana back to her car but then she has what look like convulsions and Adriana is back in her body. Adriana says that this is her body; she tries to look for Diego, faints and when she recovers, Mónica is back in possession of the body. Mondriana tells Selma that Adriana is fighting for her body. She is terrified that this might happen in front of Emiliana or Camila. She needs the shaman but Selma replies that only Esteban had the information on how to contact him.

En Otra Piel – jueves – Part 3

Emi finds the note from Mónica to Rodrigo that came with the books. He and Marta tell Emiliana that it is an old note from Mónica that Rod keeps as a good luck token. Emiliana asks to have the note and reluctantly Rod agrees. Later Marta tells Rod that she is worried about what might happen if Elena finds out about the note (which she will, of course) especially with the other weird things that are going on in the mansion.

Modriana plays out her frustrations on the piano in a piano store while remembering her murder. She tells Selma that she feels better. Selma advises against pursuing her plan of vengeance but Mondriana replies that she has to do it for her daughters.

Vali & Eileen mourn the men who won't return their affection. Ric tells Gaby that he can't get Cami out of his heart.

Lorena tells Jorge about the strange things that are happening in the house – the piano playing with no one there – the crispy-critter doll. She asks if he thinks it might be Monica's spirit? Jorge doesn’t ask the obvious question – does Lorena know why Mónica’s spirit might be unhappy?

Ernesto tells Elena that Raul was involved in the trafficking of women with the judge and is wanted by the police. Ernesto wants to turn him in but Elena says no. They need ammunition to use against Raul.

Mondriana offers to help Emiliana organize a birthday party for Elena.

Emi overhears Marta tell Lorena about Ric working in the hospital. Emi tell Camila who goes to hospital.

Diego comes to see Selma. He tells her that he knows that Adriana is not in her body. He is sure that she knows the truth and demands that she tell him. Selma asks him to leave but finally calls him back and says that Adriana will be back in her body soon and to have patience.

Gerardo overhears Raul making an appointment and it looks like he is going to follow him.

Mondriana is in the secret room. Apparently, she kept her old clothes there, too. She gets a flowing green dress out. Then she finds the photo of her and Adriana and tells Adriana that needs just a little more time and asks for her forgiveness.

En Otra Piel

Jean, thanks for the superb recap! I agree about the writers' heavy-handed way of letting us know that Jorge knows about the secret room. Indeed, I was half expecting that he'd mention it last night.

For me, the part of your review that I liked best was your remark "Jorge doesn’t ask the obvious question – does Lorena know why Mónica’s spirit might be unhappy?" Yes! Although I confess that what you pointed out hadn't occurred to me.

I keep thinking (hoping?) that this novela is about to enter últimos capítulos, but I've been thinking that for quite a while now, and we still don't seem much closer. Sigh. I think I want to watch Reina de Corazones, which will soon replace La Impostura, but I'm not at all eager to watch three hours of novelas per night. I'm not ready to give up on El Señor 2, in spite of having great difficulty understanding the language. Which leaves En Otra Piel. Decisions, decisions....

Cielos

VRO, I too was stunned by Dona Alba's response to Ximena, for the same reason you expressed.

CIELOS:

I try very hard not to be critical of shows I'm watching, but somehow I feel this show is getting just a little too silly with it's twists and turns. Another firefight. As usual, henchmen get killed, almost all other bullets miss. Leo and Ponte had actually found the house where Chacorta and Bert were holding the 3 businessmen. In full riot gear, they attack loudly, rather than sneaking in.

As usual, the bad guys go out the back door, which the cops forgot about. Well, Leo remembers, but she gets shot by Chacorta protecting one of the 3 businessmen. The other 2 are killed by the bad guys, but this one secretly promised Bert money and a new life, so he has to live, right? Leo falls on top of him, and it's a good thing she only weighs about 105. Her bullet proof vest protects her (we could see that one coming). Oh yeah, Chacorta's wounded in the leg, but they'll probably forget about this in 2 episodes. In the end, the Casillas guys got no money, Chacorta wounded, a few henchmen dead. Good business this kidnapping, huh?

Where's AC? Well, 2 seconds after Monica calls him, he shows up in her bedroom. I keep thinking this is a dream, but apparently not. She stabs him in the stomach, but she took care to make it "one centimeter" below the lethal area (yeah, right), and then she nurses him back to health. Now they're even. Please.

Ximena's back. Or not. Alba won't let her take Victor, so she takes Rutila and the little girl to her father's old house. She had hitched a ride with a trucker who was surprised she wanted to go TO Mexico.

Alba wonders where Mati got the money in the suitcase, and Mati says from her signing career, but of course Alba knows that's false. Mati and Alba are setting up their brothel, and want to install surveillance equipment to capture all the secret utterances of the politicians who'll be using the brothel. I'm really tightening my beanie thinking about the huge number of rich politicians who go to a brothel and speak about their secrets to the hookers. Yeah, that happens a lot.

Turco and Irina are trying to get Monica to kill AC, to save themselves. But they don't realize Monica is only going to stab AC in the exact right place, not kill him. Drat!

I do think Elsa is a good guy. Why? Because Leo told Ponte "I like those woman who are demanding, but honest". Now we know!

Bert is holding a gun to Chacorta's head. The odds he'll pull the trigger? Don't ask.

CIELOS:

I meant to say Mati's "singing" career, not her "signing" career, but the way she talks with her hands, it could be either (both are not very successful).

En Otra Piel:

Thanks, Juanita. I appreciate your dilemma but EOP isn't even in Capitulos Culminantes or Neuva Etapa so I don't think it is going to end anytime soon.

EN OTRA PIEL

Terrific recap, Jean! Liked Elena's "look of hatred". Yep, she's used that one for 3/4 of her scenes. And we'd have had to have been dunces to miss Jorge's allusions to knowing every corner of the house.

Sourpuss still annoys me, but I was somewhat pleased she didn't immediately swallow Elena's spoon-feeding of opinions; i.e., watch out for Jorge. I think she senses he's a good man

Sourpuss did bother me rushing right over to watch Ricardo mopping floors. I suppose she's there to express sympathy or some such, but actually coming to watch him do it is just humiliating for him.

Susana is turning out to be fairly nasty, isn't she? They were hinting earlier that she'd sign on to be Elena's accomplice and spy. That has sort of fallen by the wayside, but I wish Jennifer would bring out the barrio girl in her and tell her where to put her "advice".

I hope some 50-lb anvils fall on Ernesto. The sneaky little jerk annoys me no end. And his failing to tell his brother just means that Carlos carries on with his kidnapping of girls. And Elena doesn't give a rat's patootie about Carlos paying for his crimes if having him around suits her plans.

I know it's the writers, but Diego is getting on my nerves lately. I liked him better when he was trying to sooth the waters in the barrio disputes. This constant ranting about Adriana is boring me.

CIELOS

I was glad to see a critical comment from you, Hombre. This second season of El Señor, at least at this point, leaves something to be desired.

The scene at the mansion [and don't they seem to have an unlimited number of mansions to shoot up in this show] where the kidnapped people were held was another ridiculous waste of time and bullets. Of course Chacorta isn't going to die, at least not yet. He's much more despicable than he was in the first season. He shot those poor kidnapped guys without a qualm. They weren't going to get the money anyway.

I enjoyed Heriberto holding a gun on Chacorta and reminding him that he's the son of El Señor de los Cielos and the grandson of Anacleto (forget the last name), and that he, Chacorta, doesn't even come up to their ankles! Chacorta can't do anything to him and live!

I also thought Mónica was dreaming when she woke up to Aurelio in her bedroom. Juanita, ITA about her putting the knife in exactly the right place. And, please, he's acting like he wants to have sex with her with a stab wound in him?

Also surprised Doña Alba was so cold with Ximena. And she said something about Ximena's turning in Aurelio to the authorities, at least I thought that was what she said. When did Ximena do that? And Ximena just meekly took it and didn't remind her Aurelio murdered her father with his own hands. I'm pretty sure I remember that Alba knows that.

I guess they're going with Cabo and Tijeras really planning to go through with the bombing. I thought they planned something different.

This comment has been removed by the author.

EL SENOR

So I'm not the only one confused by Alba's reaction. She knows darn well hpw Aurelio treated Ximena, she doesn't like where her sons lives have gone and (I assume) wants something different that the drug dealer lifestyle for the grandkids, and yet she criticizes Ximena for trying to give them better? Nope. I think Ximena, cool cucumber that she is, is biding her time until she can be rid of Aurelio forever, but I really want her to tell off Alba and stop with the "Dona". Alba no longer deserves the respect.

I got the impression that this is why she's here. She took off from the US after remembering that the narcoDEA guy said he'd have someone watching her at all times. I think she's counting on him finding her, and then Aurelio.

Monica and Aurelio have a seriously disturbed relationship, but I'm hoping Monica isn't done with vengeance. Maybe she's using him to get back on top of the drug scene, and then she'll stab him for real? (I would reserve the privilege for Ximena but Rutila seems like the type to get even).

Kelly

EN OTRA PIEL

Well at least Selma finally said something to Diego about not giving up. It'd be horrible if he did turn to Vale and then had to dump her when Adriana came back for good.

But yeah, it's a stretch for him to think that Adriana is not Adriana, unless he watched telenovelas. For us, it might be third on the list: 1. Secret Evil twin, 2. Drugged to steal inheritance form real father that subject knows nothing about, 3. Someone else's soul in body, 4. Jealous ex, 5. Evil mother/aunt/mother-in-law, just for the heck of it

Camila may be a snot, but she has good instincts when it comes to all people except for Elena. She immediately called out Carlos for his slimey behavior, and I don't think she'll buy the Bad Uncle thing unless Elena frames him for something. Good on you for now, Sourpuss.

Kelly

En Otra Piel

Thanks, Jean, for the recap.

I was somewhat surprised to see how quickly Andriana's soul took over and spoke. If this is the way the battle is going to be i'm betting that at some point a transformation will happen in front of the others.

So Jorge and Lorena admitted that they had a fling in the past. Hopefully he's not Elena's father. For Jorge that would mean that his daughter murdered his true love and twin brother (Elena's uncle and lover). I hope they avoid this storyline.
However I'd love to see him go into the secret room and discover Mondriana, the piano, or evidence that someone has been there recently.

Ernesto is so unappreciative with Gerardo ...but I'm also thinking he's expendable and will be one of the show's victims...possibly at the hands of Carlos.

wow, thanks so much Jean!

I didn't have captions last night and your attention to detail really filled me in on a lot of things I missed.

Cielos

thanks Hombre!

yes, I spent the whole show thinking Monica was dreaming, it could still happen, couldn't it?

novelera, I'm fuzzy on this but wasn't Ximena working with Marco (although she always seemed to stop short of actually betraying Aurelio, but no one knows that) and didn't she give away Aurelio's location when she called Marco to come get her, (and everyone probably knew that she didn't just run away with Turco but was in a witness protection program).
btw- her father was Don Anacleto "Cleto" Letrán.

I keep forgetting that Leo worked undercover in the Casillas' household and knows these guys personally, and they know her, she slept with Aurelio, right?

Rutila looks like she might replace Aurelio some day.

and thanks -VRO for your good memory and help.

Cielos
Tks Hombre

If I remember correctly, when Ximena was planning her escape,Doña Alba knew it & did not betray her to Aurelio. Alba understands the dirty work her sons are involved in & I'm sure wants better for her nietos. So I don't get her treatment of Ximena either, unless it's that she took off with Turco.

Not sure Matilde has a head for business, she thought she could sing. She would only be good as top puta.

I'm not too turned off by all the shooting, if you watch the documentary about the Miami cocaine cowboys, that is about how they did.

I have never been able to find any info on Amado Carrillo's wife other than her name, Candaleria Cardenas. I read he had 5 kids by 5 different women but can't find that article now. They knew a lot about Pablo Escobar & Griselda Blanco, so they used their real names, not a whole lot is known about Amado Carrillo Fuentes so they have created an alias.

I was thinking, Monica, frisk him, then she plunges the knife! Way to go Moniquita! These 2 have a very sick relationship, real love, real hate.

CIELOS:

I think the reason Alba is mean to Ximena is that Ximena betrayed the family by telling everything she knew to the cops. Why else do you think they accepted her in the witness protection program? Both Alba and Ximena know about lots of AC's crimes, including killing Don Cleto, but Alba would never tell the cops anything. Ximena did. Why do you think AC and Chacorta have no money? Because the cops busted almost all of their laboratories and warehouses, using info given partly by Turco, partly by Ximena. And before, the cops didn't have much hard proof against AC. Now he's so wanted he's had to try to change his appearance and play dead.

I could be wrong on some of the details, but Ximena's talking to the cops, betraying the family, is why Alba hates her. I'm not saying Alba is doing anything good, just explaining her behavior.

Cielo
Gracias Hombre for all the reminders.
I guess Alba is more pissed than Aurelio is. But hey, he has his diversions.

I do like Alba, her loyalty, while understanding what beasts her sons are. Convincing the padre to take the money to at least help those that have been hurt.

wow, did Rodrigo ever throw Diego a curve ball, with his psychology lesson, that Monica/Adriana has a duel personality, and just when Diego, who is a very practical 'hands on' guy, was just getting a glimpse of the truth.

and just when I was hoping Diego and Monica would link up, (she is going to need a big guy around when Carlos finds her), and possibly Adriana jumping in once in a while to help out as well.

but I guess you could say Monica's plan is working, even though it is no where on the scale that Elena and Carlos operate on, it is always fun to to see the bad guys get rattled.

Thanks, deb, for the info re Los Miserables. Other than watching a few early episodes of Camelia la Texana, I've seen none of the novelas mentioned. Perhaps for that reason, the only person I knew was Gabriel Porras, but not for La casa de al lada but rather for ¿Dónde Está Elisa?, La Reina del Sur, and El Señor de los Cielos.

How long does it usually take to film one of these telenovelas?

I agree Deb, it was one step forward and two stps back after Rodrigo confused Diego with the split personality theory. If he believes it he may try to help Mondriana instead of resenting Monica's soul for possessing Andriana's body.

I'm so embarrassed. In my list of possibilities for Diego to come up with, I completely forgot about multiple personalities. That should have been number 2, right after evil twin.

CIELOS:

So Bert wants to change his life around, and asks Ximena, can you forgive me? In typical novela fashion, she says "you first have to forgive yourself". Hmmm. Bert wants to go the the US, Xime says we don't have two pesos to rub together, but Bert's gonna get help from Ignacio, the businessman/lawyer whom he helped. Ignacio also purposely did NOT identity Bert to the cops.

I think Drusila's name may really be Lucila. Does anyone know?

So now all the little kids are going to the same school, and Xime and Alba have to get along.

Elsa told Andrews she wanted to meet his real boss, and Andrews later told Chema (his real boss) about that. But how could Elsa talk to a druglord? BTW, I agree she's more like the attorney general than just a prosecutor.

At some point the good guys should realize that if a guy comes in with a Texas hat, it's NOT AC! Ponte ended up arrested Trino, and now he's in trouble. Of course Leo DID see the real AC, from a distance, in his baseball cap, but no one will believe her. I think the fact that she's a Colombiana is the main thing hurting her cred with the Mexican brass. One thing she does have going for her is Igancio. Not only can he help Bert, but he was saved by Leo, and although he doesn't know her name at this point, he is a powerful lawyer.......

Cielos

thanks so much Hombre!

I think Ponte's helper's name is Lucila in the spanish captions.

wow, the park scene was sure intense, Turco arranged a meet with Aurelio (in order for a hidden Cepeda to kill him), Aurelio showed up to grab/kill Turco, Leo/Ponte showed up to arrest Aurelio (and maybe Turco), Elsa/Ramos showed up to arrest Leo and Ponte, because Lucila had betrayed them, did I get this right? (actually Leo with her hat pulled down and her coat zipped up looks more suspicious than anyone)

all we needed was Chema there with his bombers to get Aurelio, with Monica sneaking around to get the Colombians, and Chacorta / Heriberto in the background arguing, with Rutila giving everyone the evil eye.

and I guess basically everyone is broke and out of business except for Chema who has this nice tunnel under the border that Topo built before Chema killed him, and I'm not sure if Turco has access to his hidden stash that he took from Aurelio, who wants it back, but Monica has her secret drawer full of money, (kind of reminds me of Pablo Escobar, out somewhere in the middle of the night with a couple of trusted people, burying garbage cans full of cash).

some trivia on El Bigotes, Chema's bald muscle guy, he is Flavio Peniche, brother to another former Telemundo actor Arturo Peniche (Zorro, Victoria), and the only other time I've seen him was as Mario Cimarro's manservant in "La Tracion" where with long sideburns, period clothes, and riding horses, he did an excellent job, but his own personal tragedy is that early in his career in a scene where he shoots a guy, the gun was really loaded and he really killed the guy.

Cielos

Deb and Hombre, thank you both for that insightful info. Unfortunately I have nothing to offer at this time.
