De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #116 & 117, 7/3/2014
Labels: te-quiero
Ok. Carmen sort of made up for her behavior. I wonder how long before Nat gets the news.
I don't see what was wrong with Lupita's decorations. I wouldn't have had to duck :D
"Mara’s mom says this is all Mara’s fault. Bitch." I said the same thing. Out loud. Repeatedly. She may be sick, but that doesn't mean she's suddenly going to turn into a nice person. I know Paolo's going to stick around and be a buffer, but I hope they get some more support--they seem too young to be dealing with this on their own.
Sara- I was so glad to see Carmen finally come to her senses. I really thought she was losing her mind for much of this episode.
Carmen was really disgusting today. Her unbelievable rudeness (calling Irene a drunk and kicking them out of her house) to Irene and Tad is unforgivable, even if they made up later. Her crying rant was all about ME, ME, ME = didn't care a whit about anybody's feelings, including those of her supposedly loved Natalia. Even if Tad and Irene were REALLY trying to steal her daughter, she was way out of line.
I have to agree with 5ft that this was hardly the Cliff notes version of this episode. Very rich in detail. Thank you.
I was at first horrified by Carmen's behavior, but quickly appreciated the tn humor in the epic no holds barred fight. I thought it was funny when they had ahold of each others hair, but paused when someone was at the door (I can't remember who it was) then resumed when the person went away. And finally Carmen straddling Irene and wrenching her arm behind her, and Irene starting to laugh. Great stuff.
I also laughed during the fight when everyone was lined up in the hallway trying to listen to what was happening. Had I been directing this part, I would have had everyone huddled around the door with a water glass up against the door listening.
So, Carmen, although insecure, is, in the end, able to bond with the good woman that Irene really is, and share her love for Nat with Nat's bio mom. Finally.
Rod didn't do too well tonight.
I have T-shirts that ride lower on me than Brat's dresses do on her.
Abdul Jr. is getting a great education from la Jaiba about the dark side of male-female relationships, he just doesn't know it yet.
And, yeah, always faithful Paolo. What a guy.
Thanks so very much, Vivi, and I hope everyone has a great, safe 4th of July.
David
I hadn't noticed Irene's mischievous look so I was shocked and uncomfortable when they showed up at the party. Then I was absolutely aghast at the way Carmen reacted. Then I started laughing during the cat-fight...especially...as David noted when they paused and whispered their insults when someone was at the door. When they themselves started laughing and then crying, I started crying too. And did again, reading your recap. And did again just writing this. I am a sentimental fool but that was a powerful scene last night. Wow.
Thanks so much for this fine recap, Vivi so I could relive those memorable moments.
No way Irene could have fought to a draw, Carmen was mopping her room with her, but this cat fight was a clever way to thwart all out war.
For the past few evenings Tad is winning me over, perhaps it is because he is the only level headed adult still afloat in the sea of dysfunction. I see Angela exhibiting similar qualities and hope for Paolo & Mara as they mature but a teen pregnancy could buy them tickets on the crazy train.
Mara - perhaps talk to Tad
Irene - well played
Alonso - weasel, can't you just wait till he dies
Grumps - willing fool
Moralas - you make me nervous as Jaiba in church
Hot Rod - shoo fly
Nat - hope you have some time to be daddy's little girl
Brigitte - cesspool bottom feeder
Lupita - don't miss your calling
Abdul - drowning in the sorrow of your own making
"Rod smirks and smarms out of the room" and "Brat has to give Rod a nookie raincheck, and puts on a short red dress and a sour expression to accompany her boyfriend to her mom’s party" were among my favorites.
Your astute comments and insights are always on target. I believe you said yesterday that Irene and Carmen would fight it out and then hopefully hug it out. Were you ever right! I doubted you somewhat (when will I learn??) but you were on point as always. Not a fan of the catfight, but in this instance, it seems to have worked.
I was disappointed in Carmen but in retrospect, she was a fierce lioness protecting her cub. I don't condone what she did and to the extent she did, but I understand that she felt threatened she might be supplanted in her her adored, cherished child's affections. Like you Judy, I got emotional and was just relieved all ended well.
Like all of you, I am wondering when Nat will be told. With Tad suffering another relapse, I hope it's soon.
My favorite continues to be Paolo. Someone I would love to have for a son, a friend. Kind, supportive, smart and loving.
"Alberto has cooked an amazing meal for Brigitte and is treating her like a queen. He somehow thinks HE’S the one who has to apologize". Is anyone else cringing at the fact the Brat is making a total fool of him?? It is so sad as he loves being part of Carmen's family.
Now I like Morales, but I cringed when he gave the results to Kimberly. Really?? Ack. Tofie, your "Moralas - you make me nervous as Jaiba in church" made me smile.
David, I keep waiting for Brig to bend a bit or move the wrong way. A wardrobe malfunction seems inevitable - the dress length (or lack of it) is an invitation to disaster.
Kat, I laughed at "I don't see what was wrong with Lupita's decorations. I wouldn't have had to duck :D".
Happy and safe 4th to everyone as we gather together, and remember and thank everyone who worked and sacrificed for us and our freedom.
Vivi, thanks again!
Diana
"Like all of you, I am wondering when Nat will be told."
Yeah, that's the next big blow up, isn't it?
I hope that Carmen and Irene, and possibly Tad and Padre sit Nat down and calmly explain to Nat the extreme duress Irene was dealing with at the time of her birth, and how she lost control of Nat through no fault of her own.
But that ain't going to happen, is it?
Holy Cow. The spell checker on this thing doesn't recognize the pseudo word "ain't."
David
I love Lupita. I love that child. Children don't interest me much, but she is precious.
I really wondered where we were headed when Carmen called Irene a "boracha" in front of everyone. Holy Cow.
I hope Tad gets his transplant and his two girls in the end. I do not want Irene with Alonso.
Grumps needs to be booted from here to Kingdom Come. He is going to get his and I hope it is a good one.
Fatima
And Rod can take Grumps where ever he is going (which I'm certain will be a very "hot" destination). Irredeemable. Period.
Diana
Super detailed recap.
I didn't think Lupita tasted the caviar. Tom Hanks in "Big" came to mind. The 12 year old that wants to be a man & comes back as 30 year old Tom Hanks with the mind of a 12 year old. He took a bite of caviar, sticks his tongue out, tries to wipe it off, hysterical scene.
Carmen should have saved her rage for Jaiba.
Thanks for the great comments this morning, Anon, David, Judy,Tofie, Diana, and Fatima.
I also had moments of wanting to slap Carmen, then laughing, and then crying during the epic fight between Carmen and Irene. And didn't their primary color dresses (yellow and blue) look great next to each other? I wish wardrobe had put Nat in one of her purple dresses-- combined with Brat's red dress, it would have been quite a stunning rainbow of good looking women on display.
Anon and David- Thanks for bringing up some of the additional funny moments. Yes, I laughed as the guys made bets on who the winner would be, and what damage they would have done to each other. And everyone lined up behind Lupita at the door was a funny image. The two ladies taking a break from the yelling to tell El that everything was cool, while not letting go of their death grips was also hilarious. Really, despite the nastiness Carmen was spewing at Irene, it was mainly a fun episode.
Is it wrong that I hope Mara's mom dies? Can the cancer gods/demons take her instead of Tad? That woman is so nasty that I think Mara would be better off. But she would also probably feel eternally guilty and grief stricken.
David- You are so right that Abdul Jr. is getting a crash course in "bad" women. It's not like he didn't get plenty of warning, AND had a gem of a woman in front of him in the form of Angela.
You know, I baked a banana bread, forgot I was recapping, watched the recording late, and then just started typing away what I remembered from what I just saw. I thought it would be short. I should just admit that I am long-winded even when trying to be brief and doing things on the fly.
Already started the day with yummy Jamaican breakfast at the parents' house. The banana bread was for them. Now back home to pop some Jamaican patties in the oven, change, and run off to a bbq. Not sure if I'll be checking in again for the day, so have a great and safe holiday everyone!
I was not able to watch this episode , so I especially appreciate this recap.
Vivi thanks so much for your "brief" recap and your one from last week as well. ITA w/wanting Mara's mom gone and hoping Paolo is NOT a teen father. I must again say he so reminds me of Pablo from AB; I so enjoy sweet, kind young men in tns who don't feel the need to be macho crazies.
Kat - thanks again for your recap and subbing for me. That was quite an episode and you handled it with finesse & style. Thanks for you work Monday as well as last week.
Sara - your alphabet recap was great!! And yes, Paolo is da bomb and I can't wait to see what a horrible person the Brat's sperm donor is.
Diana, amiga! You totally summed up my feelings with "And Rod can take Grumps where ever he is going (which I'm certain will be a very "hot" destination). Irredeemable. Period." And so with you on wanting Tad to live and be with Irene b/c Alonso is so unworthy.
tofie - another great list! I was initially tricked about Alonso (I think Kat mentioned this in yesterday's comments), he seemed like a nice guy. Then he kept making really bad decisions (not just bad tragically stupid). Tad, as you noted, is the only mature character in the tn.
Fatima - yes, Lupita is one of the best child characters I've seen. Her roles has been written well and the actress is so believable.
David - I know you are right about the pending Nat drama but I so want you to be wrong. That wretched Rod will give us enough drama.
Variopinta - I thought of "Big" too.
Am TOTALLy with you and Vivi in that truth be told, the loss of Mara's mother would be more than tolerable.
That said, the loss of the tender, caring Tadeo might be inconsolable.
Am still fervently hoping Irene starts to love this wonderful man and see him for who he really is, just as we do. May he banish whatever affection she still holds for Alonso. The man she thinks he is does not exist. There is only an immature boy who is and will never be worthy of her.
Diana
Variopinta said "I'm sure we will have the tired cliche of Nat rejecting Irene ...". I sure hope the writers don't go that route. It's too predictable. Also before my electricity goes off again due to the thunderstorms, I want to thank all the recappers for all that they do to make this novela so enjoyable. 309
