De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #118 & 119, Friday 7/4/14
I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend!
Ugh. This was one of those all-over-the-place and uninspiring episodes. I'm just going to give it the Joe Friday treatment (organized in a stream of consciousness/memory order....not episode order.)
Tad continues to refuse to ask Natalia to be the bone marrow donor. He doesn't want her to think he's just using her. Noble, but stupid.
Brigitte the Brat is still dealing with bouts of nausea. She finally checks her handy-dandy cycle calendar and realizes she must be pregnant. Why the gals always say "no puede ser" is beyond me. Are you having sex? Are you taking precautions? If not then sí puede ser. For the record, it's Rodrigo's. Against Brat's wishes, Alberto talks to Alonso about the nausea and is told it can be anything from an infection to pregnancy. Alberto makes it clear that pregnancy is out. He always took precautions.
Karina is a day late. She wonders if she's pregnant. Brat comes to see her to ask for advice. The fact that Brat is pregnant and Karina wants to get pregnant makes me very nervous.
Kimberly confronts El about the DNA results. He explains it's not him with the baby, but someone else. El takes the results to Diego who stupidly just leaves them on Irene's keyboard at Caprico. Is anyone surprised that Rodrigo got to them first? What really surprised me was that they still managed to make it into Irene's hand....and in this episode no less!!!
The worst part of Rodrigo getting his hands on the results were when Nat walked in...and thought he was Diego and hugged him. In her defense, Rodrigo had his back to her. Diego caught them and there was some jealousy, but Nat defused it (though if the avances are any indication, the event will still be in Diego's head when Rod makes a suggestive statement on Monday.)
Kimberly calls Morales and asks to meet with him. He brings a single rose and professes his love. He even tells her that his boss doesn't deserve Kimberly. Kimberly insists she loves El and it isn't right that Morales is wooing her. He leaves, dejected.
For some unfathomable reason La Jaiba suggests that she and Abdul get married and he agrees. Abdul later runs in to Abdallah who tries to talk him out of it. He also suggests that Abdul look for his dad. The news gets out quickly. Paolo shows up at the Jaiba headquarters to scold Abdul and La Jaiba lets him know about the engagement. He runs to tell Carmen, who gets upset. Angela also heads to Jaiba HQ to scold Abdul. The two of them get into it and he is a jerk. You can do better Angela. Truly you can.
That Crabette that Jaiba kicked out looks for work. La Jaiba told Abdul (who can't remember the night before) that the Crabette left willingly with her novio.
Diego tells Irene about his conversation with Tiburcio and she realizes Vicente has known all this time. She confronts him. They fight. Rod interrupts and threatens to go ahead and tell Nat. Irene panics. Vicente grabs his chest and oh my hopes are raised, but alas it is a false alarm. Damn.
Diego met with the manager of the factory, too. They talked about the machines.
Diego talks about Natalia with Irene. Irene tells him about Tad needing a donor and her fear of being rejected by Nat. She can't seem to find the right time to tell her. She also tells him about the confrontation with Rod and Vicente. Diego then goes to Vicente and Rod and tells them to keep their mouths shut. I think he threatens to break all ties with Vicente. With Rodrigo he threatens to publicly accuse him of the machine fraud.
Annoyed, Rod and Grumps agree that they need to separate Diego and Nat. Thhey also agree they need to get the power away from Diego and Irene. (Definitely didn't pay close attention.) Rod says he has a plan and is willing to carry it out for a little more power in Caprico.
Abdallah and Abdul have lunch. Carmen calls Abdallah's cell and Abdul answers while Abdallah is in the restroom. OOPS. Abdallah calls the number back and acts like it's a business call. He and Carmen will meet later in the park near the fonda.
They meet and Abdallah swears La Jaiba is into him. He calls her and puts it on speaker to prove it. They agree to meet later in his store. Carmen goes with him and hides in the office closet when La Jaiba arrives. Carmen hears La Jaiba admit she's just trying to annoy Carmen by messing with her son. She swears to get rid of Abdul, but she hasn't really getting much of anything from Abdallah either. Carmen is treated to a showcito before Abdallah finally gets a hold of himself and halts the action.
The Crabette tries to get some food for free by running as soon as she's given the good. She runs into Abdul who pays the bill. He looks a little confused.
Alberto spoils Brat. Dear Telenovela Dieties, please get this man with someone worthy. I nominate Angela. He wants to buy an apartment for them. Dumazz.

Why do nice guys fall for evil girls ? That was a rhetorical question. We all know why Big Al is so infatuated with Brat. He doesn't seem to be focusing much on her pouty face and unpleasant personality.
Great recap. I've been lurking all along with this novela, and you always do an awesome job with your recaps. Sorry to hear you will not be able to recap next Friday, July 11th. If you would like, I can recap that night's episode. I haven't done any recapping since CI back in November.
Happy 4th of July.
LatinaInMD
Susanlynn I wish I knew what to tell you. Alberto treats her like a queen and she doesn't give a hoot!
Just great, Sara. Love your commentary. And hmmm...yes, scary. Karina and Brigette in cahoots possibly? Baby, baby, who's got the baby? Ugh.
My other favorite Saraism, was "Vicente grabs his chest, but alas it is a false alarm. Damn."
This man is a monster and for some reason I still like him. He looks like a very nice, caring minister I used to know so I just can't hate him. Even though he has behaved consistently hatefully all throughout this story. (Although he did nicely thank Natalia for taking him to the doctor...what was that about?) Still hoping for deathbed redemption for the old coot. Sorry. I'm clearly not right in the head.
Whether there is much action or not, I always look forward to the episodes and your recaps, Sara. And we needed a breather after the intensity of last night, no?
Happy weekend every one, and thanks LatinaInMD for stepping up and helping out on Fridays to come.
"I'm just going to give it the Joe Friday treatment (organized in a stream of consciousness/memory order....not episode order" was superb.
You nailed the fact this was rather plodding with little action. Still, you managed to brighten things up considerably by adding the spicy "Vicente grabs his chest and oh my hopes are raised, but alas it is a false alarm. Damn". My sentiments exactly.
Judy, amiga, what a huge heart you have! I applaud your support of Grumps and while I am not sure he can atone for what he did, do hope he manages to change, if not for his, then for his daughter and grandsons sakes.
Susanlynn, at the very end, after Alberto gave her the brochure and was hugging her, I thought for the first time Brig's tears might be real and that she may start to realize what a terrible mistake she made. He is really the best man in this TN and deserves so much more! I'm desperate to find someone, anyone other than the Brat. I'm thinking the Crabette that is on the run may be a candidate (?)
Nice to see you LatinaInMD, glad you are recapping...
Sara, thanks again for a super summary.
Diana
Sara, I don't think you missed much of anything here. It really was all over the place. I loved your comments about Brigitte's "no puede ser!" I almost wanted to feel sorry for her at the end when she seems to have realized that she got knocked up by the wrong guy. Even if she thinks Alberto is boring, he's a solid guy, saving up money for a nicer apartment, doing things to make her happy even though she treats him badly. And there's no way to pass this baby off as his, because Rod will always be there, threatening to tell. Plus he'll be born with the perma-smirk, which will be a dead giveaway.
There were some very strange decisions made in either the writing or the editing that made no sense. Like the DNA results--Grumps' rationale for why Rod should put them back where he found them was "Too many people already know, so just let them make the first move." Then Natalia hugging Rodrigo--I want to cut her some slack, but how many days has everyone been back at work and WHEN in that time has Diego worn anything less than a full suit? And I'm supposed to believe that Jaiba decided to propose to Abdul JUST to piss off Carmen and risk losing her big fish Big Abdul? I got the impression that this was a lot of stalling so that something big can happen at a certain time.
I hope he dies already. And preferably BEFORE he gives Rod any more control of the company, so Diego, Irene, and Natalia have a fighting chance to salvage it instead of having to start over from scratch. I used to respect him for at least being consistently evil, but ever since Rod came back, he's a pathetic excuse for a villain. He's allowing himself to be manipulated by Rod, even now that he sees what Rod is doing. He keeps blathering on about "the family" and "the business" and I don't think he knows what either of those words mean. Otherwise, I don't know how he justifies screwing up BOTH of them--mostly by allowing Rod to run loose, but also from his own actions around Irene and Natalia. He's just losing his grip on everything. And Rod's latest brilliant plan, "I'll break up Nat and Diego, we'll reduce Diego and Irene's power in the company, and you'll give me more power," makes no sense. Grumps keeps INSISTING that Diego and Irene (but mostly Diego) can't leave Caprico, "because faaaaaaaaamily!" but he thinks they'll stay when they find out about the new balance of power? I keep trying to understand the logic, but there is none.
Regarding Tad’s refusal for Natalia to be the bone marrow donor. ITA:”Noble, but stupid.”
Oh dear, here we go again!!! I thought we were finished dealing with the twin mixup drama for awhile until: “Nat walked in...and thought he was Diego and hugged him.”
Irene had a hissy fit when she found out that everyone knew Nat was her child didn’t share immediately share the information with her. Now the shoe is on the other foot and she’s doing the same thing to Nat that she accused them of doing to her. Her reason: “She can't seem to find the right time to tell her.” Personally, I think that Carmen not Irene is the one who should tell Nat.
And Kat, I've never understood TN logic and I think that's what Vicente is operating under.
Thanks for the greetings. Just wanted to clarify that I can only recap this coming Friday, July 11th's episode. I can't commit to other Fridays because I will be moving in a few weeks and need my remaining Friday nights and weekends to pack everything.
LatinaInMD
I hope it's an easy move with no problems!
I did forget one little bit: Mara's mom refuses to let anyone else help her but Mara. So she's up to her old manipulative tricks.
I don't know if that will end up important or not.
I'm all for Kimberly and Morales. She should be nice if she would just turn down.
I came late to this TN because I needed to finish PSMA - as bad as it was. I love Susanna G. and Marta J., and Bruno - can't remember his real name. But I can't believe they still put Guy Ecker in a galan role. He is just awful! I will never watch another TN with him.
Sorry for my rant. I'm really into this TN and I so appreciate the recaps since I'm usually out 2 nights each week. Can't always record since I'm techno challenged. So thank you, thank you thank you.
All I can say about last night is I was shocked, just shocked, that Alberto is actually using protection! That has got to be a first for a TN. So it is kinda scary to think - what will the Brat do about the embarazo?
Yeah, Guy was NO galan in PSMA. There were very few worthwhile males in that one.
I like Morales, too and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for him and Kimberly.
So, I may have already asked this...now that Brat is pregnant and actually looking sorry for being awful to Alberto, is she redeemable? Or is it still too early to tell.
JudyB-I saw the actor that plays Vicente on a talk show from Mexico this afternoon. I didn't watch for long, but he was so sweet to the hostess and other guests. I'm not sure I can wish him ill anymore either (but I don't know, Vicente is really vile.)
Vicente. What can you say? I think he will redeem himself, at least I hope so. I love Irene and she deserves to have a decent father. Especially since Rod, his favorito, is so disgusting.
I'm not sure if Brat is redeemable or not. I have this awful feeling that she will somehow turn this pregnancy to her advantage, maybe with the help of Rod, and further damage Diego and Nat.
Poor Alberto. Que tonto!
I'm glad that Alberto was "taking precautions." How dumb is Brat to not make sure she was always taking precautions when she was boinking two guys?! I hope this is the only unexpected pregnancy we'll get. If Brat dies, then it would make total sense for Irene to take on the child of one of her nephews. It would also make sense for Nat and Diego to take the child of their siblings.
Speaking of dying...Vicente's demise can't some soon enough for me. I'm not seeing any redeeming qualities in that man. I don't know how much lower he can get than to keep supporting the grandson who attempted to kill his other grandson. And the stuff he says about Irene is just beyond horrid. I do remember the actor fondly from Sortilegio though, when he played the gruff but loveable (step)grandpa of the heroine.
LatinaInMD- Good to "see" you! Are you leaving MD?
Grumps just fries me and watching Alberto with Fish Lips Brat is not fun. Honestly, that crazy looking upper lip of hers drives me to distraction.
I think the only reason she was nice to Alberto right there at the end was because she KNOWS that Rod is not going to be happy when he hears this pregnancy news.
I sometimes wonder what is going to happen to Brat. Alberto does not deserve to have that albatross around his neck for the rest of his life.
Fatima
I will always feel very grateful to these folks because I would never have started watching, were it not for the recaps. And I enjoy the show. But thanks anyway. That was sweet!
Didn't watch, a dinner party kept me away but seems the fireworks display was a little better.
Fatima, Brigitte does have "Fish Lips" and perhaps she can fill the vacancy at Jaiba's Slut Hut.
I cringe every time Alberto from Foolsville rolls over for Fish Lips, she'll have no problem convincing him of fathering the child. Hopefully, Paolo will speak up. I wonder what she'll wear? Perhaps, Irene can design a maternity line that masks a baby bump while still outlining a crack in back.
Nat, at least, should give Hot Rod a sniff before hugging him. I think Diego a bit of a doofus but kinda feel bad for him. Bet more than once Nat dreamed; if only there were one with Diego's adorable puppyness and Hot Rods..er....animal magnetism.
Please, please, please let Karina be preggers and I want her to tell Irene who be the daddy.
Wish someone would tell Alonso that adult men in a professional capacity don't wear tight pants that shows their package. If you must attempt to be cool, like other college boys, save them for when you hit the club.
Carlos (Alonso) Ferro is also going to be in Reina de Corazones on Telemumdo which I'm looking forward to.
What Carla Estrada is being redone?
Corazon- I think I remember seeing something about the Manantial remake recently, though I know nothing about the original.
I want to thank Kat again for taking this on. I had read about it months before it premiered and had hoped we would see it stateside. It's an added bonus to be able chat about it with others.
It's gotten to where I need to stop reading about upcoming productions because I get all excited and the ones I want to see never air here. (I'm looking at you Quiero Amarte and El Color de Pasion... Just to name two.) It's a little frustrating that Uni is only using primetime for new shows. The afternoon and late night slots always seem to be reruns now.
I'll stop whining now.
I'll never forget however, that as much as I did not really care for Sortilegio, it was the first time I saw, and fell in love with, Eleazar a/k/a Marcelo Cordoba, as Roberto. I knew he was hot way back then!
And thank you Vivi and Karen for the recaps and thanks to JudyB for filling me in. All recappers are fantastic in my book. Congrats to LatinaInMD. I look forward to recap on Friday.
Vivi: did you mean DC/Maryland/Virginia when you mentioned DMV?
Oh, I have to tell you (since I know you are a big Silvia Navarro fan) that I watched the first five episodes of MCET (which premiered in Mexico this past Monday) and it is fabulous. She's great, Jorge Salinas is great, ALL the kids are great,....and the writing, editing and music are great too. I just hope producer Juan Osorio doesn't ruin it over the long-term.
LatinaInMD
LatinaInMD- I'm so glad to hear that about MCET! Comedy is not an easy thing, and Juan Osorio can be hit or miss, but SN really wanted to do comedy.
I think Sortilegio was the first time I saw Marcelo, and I fell for him, even though is character was often shady. Then I saw recorded the re-run of Alborado. Definitely, he was sigh-worthy and a good guy there, but he didn't have enough lines for my liking. Where I loved him best was as bada** bad boy Antolin in La Fuerza del Destino. He was hot, hot, hot in that role. :)
I saw the edited DVD of Alborada years ago, but I just saw today that it's on Hulu+ so I'm thinking of watching it.
I've been crushing on Marcelo since he was the Tialoving Abuelokiller, Antolin :D
tofie, I so agree, Fish Lips Brat can fill the vacancy at Jaiba's. She probably also has a dead fish handshake, too. I hate dead fish handshakes.
Corazon, "AlMenso"!!! I am loving it big time!!! That is perfect!
Oh, tofie, I, too, hope that Irene finds about Karina's baby daddy. Tad has got to get that transplant and live to be Irene's husband. My fingers are crossed.
Vivi in DC, "trumps"!! I can't stop laughing!!
Sara, I love Diego Olivera, too, but Juan Soler's megawatt smile makes my little heart go pitter patter! :))

Thanks for this recap. Way busy weekend here with guests out the wazoo, surprise retirement party for my wife with 50 guests, and so forth. So thanks for this because I couldn't watch it.
It occurred to me that Diego and Rod have the same DNA, so could Brat use this to roil the waters and drive a wedge between Nat and Diego?
I don't want Vicente to die until he is utterly humiliated, then I want him gone quickly.
I think Alberto will do okay in the end. Don't know what will cue him in to Brat, but it will be something unmistakable.
Still can't get over Alonso's baby project. I just think ?????
Thanks again Sara for your work and snark and insights.
David
Oh my I hadn't even considered that Rod and Diego had the same DNA. Hopefully they won't go that route. Brat looked so truly remorseful on Friday that I'm hoping she's quit the bratty behavior.
Holy cow, my last comment evaporated.
Brat may have seemed repentant, but I don't know if her personality can support repentance the way you and I understand it. It may be that she is just sorry she got caught. Then too, there is her deep seated need to make Nat uncomfortable and look bad.
David
You are probably right. Brat is just upset she got caught.
I guess they started deleting the episodes because the titles were spoilery, but most of the time I was just interested in the ratings.
My hope for tonight is that we get closer to Nat just finding out about Irene and I hope we won't spend a whole week on Nat being angry, etc, etc.
David, my sense of that last scene with Fish Lips Brat was that it was a momentary lapse and that she will revert to the usual. She is a nasty, self centered brat who deserves someone like Rod.
