De Que Te Quiero, Te Quiero #126 & 127, 7/10/14

De que terminaron para siempre, terminaron para siempre (o así se dicen)

The Good
Mara’s mom is DEAD!!! Yay! If she made peace with Mara before she kicked the bucket, we never see it. I’m guessing she went out like the bitch she was, despite what Padre says about her repenting. At the funeral home, some of her equally witchy church lady friends talk about Mara and Paolo when they go off to get coffee, and vow to separate them as a sign of respect to Mara’s mom. Carmen overhears, and in a very firm, but polite way tells them that Paolo is her son, stop talking behind people’s backs, Mara’s mom is now with God (just where she needs to be), and SHE and her family will be taking care of Mara now, so back off bitches! The next day, Mara returns to her mom’s apartment (decked out in God and Jesus bling) with Paolo, and lights candles next to the box of her mom’s ashes. She cries about being all alone now, and Paolo tells her she’s not alone. She has him!

La Jaiba suffers almost her whole bus ride listening to a babbling nun sitting next to her. She’s glad to see the back end of the nun when she gets off the bus, but then gets a new seatmate in the form of a very large man. She celebrates when she finally gets home to Veracruz—she’ll be able to start over with the money she made from the sale of La Jaiba Loca since she sold it above the real value. She opens her suitcase, looking for her money, and finds…bibles, crosses, and black nun’s clothes. She remembers back to the gabby nun carelessly grabbing a suitcase, HER suitcase, from the overhead compartment as she got off the bus and started her missionary journey to far off lands. I bet those poor kids in Africa will be grateful for the money. Ha! It’s back to hooking on the streets for Jaiba.

Normally, I wouldn’t put this in the “Good” section, but these crazy kids might just make this work. Plus, her recent reveal about Brat to Nat has won Karina points with me. Alonso is just about to call Irene after finding out Tad is terminal (desahuciado). Really dude? He is stopped by Karina coming to visit him with her pregnancy results from the lab. She was too nervous to open it on her own.  It’s positive! They are going to be parents. They share a very warm and cute hug, and for the first time I can picture these two making it work long-term. They squee over their impending parenthood, and then Karina leaves, totally on her own and without being prompted to do so. Progress, people.

This starts off bad, but gets good, before it ends ugly. Tad suffers a bad attack. Irene rushes home (with Diego and Nat shows up too—more on that in the Ugly). Tad wants her to tell Nat about them being her parents before he dies. Irene wants him to ask Nat to be a bone marrow donor. Tad refuses, and I don’t understand why they are even arguing since Tad can’t broach the bone marrow conversation with Nat UNITL Irene has told her the truth. Anyway, against his wishes, Irene goes to Carmen and tells her about Tad needing Nat’s bone marrow (again, cart before horse). Carmen freaks out, rips into Irene for wanting to use and endanger Nat, and refuses. Even the revelation that Tad will DIE won’t sway her. Later we figure out this was all a PSA for people who don’t understand how bone marrow is extracted and the limited dangers to the donors. Carmen learns about it from Padre and then Alonso, and then she’s totally on board.

Carmen goes to Irene’s house, admits her ignorance and makes up with Irene, insists they need to tell Nat the truth TODAY, and then gives Tad a talking to about being stubborn about the bone marrow request to Nat. She jokes with Irene about Tad being special because he is the father of her daughter—the only one of her baby-daddies that she didn’t have a messy relationship with. Carmen assures Tad that Nat would agree to it, to save the life of her father. They call Nat to get her to come to the Garcia apartment for lunch, and the three of them are all ready to tell her until…there is a knock at the door. This revelation will have to wait till tomorrow.

The Bad
On the way back from their lunch celebrating the defeat of La Jaiba, Carmen and Abdalah break down. They happen to be near Abdul’s mechanic shop, and Abdul’s boss sends him to attend the customers, just as Carmen and Abdalah are sharing a goodbye hug. Abdul freaks out. He freaks out even more when Carmen reveals Abdalah is his father and they conspired on the Jaiba thing. Abdul goes off on them both about butting into his life. He will NOT forgive Carmen for this. Abdalah is in trouble for that too, but even more so for abandoning him all those years ago. (Abdul has a point there.) Later, Mali comes by with lunch and points out that Abdul’s parents were right about Jaiba, and they did what they did to protect him from a really horrible person—he would have done the same thing. She also details more of Jaiba’s bad deeds. Abdul doesn’t want to hear it.

Alberto has sobered up, but hasn’t wised up. He goes to Caprico and finds Brigitte in yet another compromising situation with Rod. She lies and denies. He says he saw it with his own eyes. Yet, he still gives her another chance! All he wants is for her to pull her weight in their relationship. She softens him up with empty promises and kisses. The next day, he comes to Caprico and catches her with a long black wig (more on that in the Ugly). He notes the wig looks like Nat’s hair. Brat makes up a lie about an idea she has about all the models being made up to look like Nat, the star model. She quickly puts the wig back into the bag and tucks it into a cubby hole in the workroom. At lunch, Al tells her his parents are coming to visit this weekend, and he wants them to host a dinner at their place with her whole family and his parents. Brat makes a face and rags on her family. Al doesn’t understand her. He thinks her siblings are awesome and her mom is the best! Either it’s pregnancy hormones, guilt about what she just did to her sister, or a tiny glimmer of appreciation for Al and her family, but Brat starts to cry and Al hugs and kisses her.

The Ugly
Despite being named Executive President by Vicente (Nat voices her displeasure about this decision to the old man when they are alone), Rod spends the entire episode dedicated to breaking up Nat and Diego. It’s not very hard.

First we get Nat realizing what an idiot she was to believe the whole Rod suicide thing when El tells her about the texts to Diego. El tells her she needs to tell Diego the whole truth. When they meet at Irene and Tad’s apartment and Diego asks where she was that morning, she says with Rod. She waits a beat too many before she tells him the suicide story, and like us he can’t believe she would actually be that naïve. He does not believe her, period. He thinks she had a tryst with Rod. She slaps him and says that’s the last straw and leaves. When Irene comes back (those two really should never be left alone), she tells Diego he has gone past stupid to just plain crazy if he believes Nat and Rod are lovers. Alonso tells him the same thing when he returns home, and not even El can convince him of Nat’s innocence.

The next day, the texts arrive again. This time another hotel. Rod comes into Nat’s office and tries to keep up the lie that he really was suicidal. She’s not buying it, so he gets down to business. He needs her to meet with a textile factory right away. He hands her the paperwork and says the taxi is waiting downstairs to take her there. Her spidey sense should have gone off right then and there. The taxi driver drives her to a far away neighborhood, and stops in front of a rape alley (long, dark, filled with graffiti, and sketchy), and tells her the address is through the alley, where his car can’t enter, and that she’ll have to walk. She asks him to wait for her, and goes right on down the rape alley, that leads to the steep rape staircase, with hardly a backward glance. The cabbie immediately calls Rod and tells him the job is done, and takes off. Nat quickly realizes the address was an error when no one there knows of any textile factories. She doesn’t have time to think about it too much when Carmen calls her about coming home for lunch….

Meanwhile, Diego arrives at the hotel where they show him right up to his usual room. He assumes they think he’s Rod. The room is empty, but there’s a pair of binoculars all set up on a tripod, that looks directly into a hotel room across the street. How convenient! Diego sees Rod, and a woman with long black hair, just like Nat’s, doing the nasty in bed. Does he stop to think that this was all a little too neat? Nope! He rushes to the other hotel demanding to see Rod, only to be greeted by a fully dressed and smirking Rod who tells him Nat just left. He doesn’t notice Brigitte just outside, carrying her bag with the wig. He tries to throttle Rod, but the hotel workers hold him back. Rod takes off in his car, and calls Brat to tell her he’s taking off for a while until things cool down. He still hasn’t given her the abortion money for a job well done.

Diego barges in on Nat’s lunch with her three parents before any food is actually eaten or any reveals are actually made. He calls Nat a slut and accuses her of coming home fresh from Rod’s bed. Carmen, Irene, and Tad are all horrified and irate at Diego. Nat is so ticked off that she makes a classic tn blunder and admits to sleeping with Rod to Diego’s face, to tick him off and to get him out of her face. She cries on Carmen’s shoulder, and then cries into her coffee (where she sees Diego’s face) and says this is the absolute last straw- she will NEVER forgive Diego. She decides to head back to work, and Carmen laments the day she ever met those twins and urges Nat to quit Eskenda/Caprico. Nat agrees. Here we go again! Meanwhile, Andres has come back to town and gone straight to Caprico with a huge bouquet for flowers for Nat.

Diego returns to Bro Central to vent and pack his suitcase. He’s leaving town for a while. Irene and Alonso once again try to talk sense into him and can both see the Rod writing all over the wall on this whole ugly thing, but Diego is blinded by jealousy, anger, and stupidity. Irene tells him he’s a coward for running away. He says he’s not being a coward. He’s trying to avoid a tragedy, because if he stays he will KILL Rod!

Avances: Carmen, Irene and Tad tell Nat the truth! There are many tears, but will there be anger too?

Gracias, Vivi! I concur with you about what fits in the good, bad, and ugly categories. I was even somewhat charmed by Karina's continual usage of business lingo, talking about keeping Al updated about how the "stock" is doing. I have no explanation for this, as I don't appear to be running a fever.

For all that Diego is blasting Nat for being naive, he knows damn well that his brother who tried to kill him is sending him text messages...and he went to meet him alone. Brilliant, Diego! All you're worried about is whether your brother is shagging Nat and it never occurred to you to wonder if he might have an even darker motive.

Vivi thanks for this great recap that was not short at all. I enjoyed your categories; unfortunately there was not a lot of good.

I hope that is the last we see of la Jaiba. A nice comeuppance that could have been shorter.

Though the writers have laid a foundation for Diego's jealousy and Nat's foolishness with Rod does not help, its really sickening when the "galan" says things that should NEVER be said to the love of his life. Yeah, tns teach forgiveness but sometimes our heroines should forgive and close the door on that relationship forever and find someone else. I love romance but instead of promoting the message that the heart wants what the heart wants, perhaps tns could also add that love is a choice. And when the person who claims to love you continues to mistrust and mistreat you, its time to let that relationship go. Please note, Nat's poor decision have been a problem too but lately it seems tn "galans" go too dark and I can't be excited the couple is together. I'm looking at you Robo w/Ale pretending to be a "galan."

The writers have completely lost their minds w/Karina's baby-making scheme some how making her a rational person. And little Al going along with it only makes me more angry that the writers want me to desire he get back together with Irene. Let Tad live a long life with his wife and daughter and let little be a father and husband to Karina.

The Brat seemed to be acting like her old self to Nat (and I'm not talking about her being Rod's stooge) regarding Nat's concern for Tad. Until she comes clean about this latest scheme, I can't see redemption for her.

Bummed that Nat has to wait longer to find out who her real parents are and I hope she doesn't get mad when she learns the truth.

For all of Diego's crazy tonight, I am glad he admitted he was going to have to leave b/c if he didn't Rod would die. While an extreme statement, he can start his therapy from this point and learn to control his emotions hopefully. Once Al, Irene or someone with sense gets what Rod has been doing, Diego needs someone to say to him that his rage at his brother is understandable but he must control his anger. And he must see through his own epiphany or help that Rod has been manipulating Nat too.

"And when the person who claims to love you continues to mistrust and mistreat you, its time to let that relationship go."

Word, Sara!

Karen- Yep. ITA. If any man who claims to love me ever called me a slut to my face, that would be the last time we spoke. I also don't understand why tn writers keep going there and expect us to root for these couples. I was really disappointed in Diego for putting those words out there, less so for him being hurt, angry and confused. I can forgive the emotions, I can't forgive the hateful words.

Kat- I'm glad I wasn't the only crazy one feeling a bit of warmth for crazy Karina tonight.

I notice we didn't see Morales or Kim this episode. My goodness! They'll both need a week to recover.

Sorry, Karen, yes, that was you and not Sara. I'm going to check my temperature again...maybe I AM coming down with something!

And that sentiment applies to Alberto and Diego as well--if you really think she's cheating on you, bro, walk away!

I could not believe that Alberto gave Brat yet another chance. And wants her to meet his parents!

Especially that he wants her to meet his parents so soon after their latest fight about not trusting her.

Ugh I’m the idiot today. Just like Nat, I keep getting suckered into thinking that adults are going to put on their big kid pants…and every time I’m disappointed.
Vicente – so close! You were actually listening to Nat! (And you picked a good time to do so: her explanation of why she didn’t think Rod was ready to be exec pres was the only moment of intelligence for her in the entire eppy.) But then you turned around and got pissy because you know she’s right, Rod isn’t emotionally or mentally stable.
Albie – so close! It really looked like you were going to kick the Brat to the curb. But then she batted her eyes and fingered the end of the shirt she wears as a dress and you were sucked in again. WHY???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Abdul – so close! Yesterday you were shaking your head about how right your mom was. Now, suddenly, you’ve forgotten all of that? I’d be pissed too, if my long, lost dad showed up after twenty something to seduce my gf and my mom knew all about it and said nothing. Luckily for you, you have Mali to point out that your mom tried talking to you about it like an adult and you weren’t having any of it.
Nat – you were never close. Good God but you need Mali in your life. I need someone, ANYONE to sit down with you and ask you to think about why Diego is so ready to believe you slept with his brother. It’s so odd because you’re totally honest with him and have never shown Rod the slightest interest since the truth came out. I mean it’s not like you told Diego you were sleeping with his bro or anything…wait…wait, that’s not what’s happening at all?! Huh…let me think about that for a while. You could even join me in thinking about your actions, if you know how…
Diego – ditto. You don’t want to know why Rod invited you to his party? You don’t think it’s the slightest bit odd that he made you go next door and use binoculars, even though he could’ve seen everything up close and personal NEXT DOOR? You know Rod’s a crazy a** and you know you hate it when you can’t explain, yet you refuse to let Nat string two sentences together. Honestly, when you said no one could get the idea out of your mind, I wondered how Vicente managed to steal your identity.
@Karen – For the first time in my tn experience, I really don’t know what couple is supposed to end up together in the end in the Karina/Alonso/Irene/Tadeo recTangle. I honestly thought I and A were supposed to be together in the end, but now I think the Tadeo/Irene and Alonso/Karina camps had it right. That scene where they learn Karina’s pregnant spanks of future coupledom and otherwise Tad and Karina end up by themselves and Al and Irene have to defend their relationship to all of the ppl who say “oh it never occurred to me that she was your girlfriend!”
Andres! What timing! Nat ponders how to get rid of her love for Diego and the next scene is Andres with a bouquet of roses in Caprico. Poor guy. Maybe he and Angela will get together?

Vivi and Kat, Karina was great in her scene but I couldn't forget her past crazy so it seemed so out there. She's ok with this really unusual business w/a man she used to stalk? It was good but too weird for me to believe.

And poor Big Al. Is he going to have to catch the Brat in bed w/Rod to realize what she is? He doesn't trust her why introduce her to your parents? Oh Al.

Vivi, like you I am so disappointed in Diego. If he's going to use bad word with someone, it needs to be his brother and/or Grumps. Add to this, there are no equivalent words for slut or whore for men, it just re-enforces that his outburst was just so uncalled for.

Kat thanks and I hope you don't have a temperature ;)

The suitcase thing happened to Carmen Becerra's character Adriana in Zacatillo.

Thanks for this wonderful recap, Vivi.

I am just not understanding any of this. (This is not out of the ordinary: As I get older I find there are many things about contemporary society that I don't understand.)

Loved your "Alberto has sobered up but hasn't wised up,"

and

"He says he's not a coward, he's trying to avoid a tragedy, because if he stays he will kill Rod." (And this would be bad because. . .?)

Hope Nat takes the revelation about her blood family well and that Tad gets his bone marrow transplant; I like him.

And little Al and Karina? I, uh. . .uh. . .good luck to the fetus.

David

Oh, and I liked La Jaiba being disconcerted about being left with a suitcase full of bibles and nun's garb. But consider how the nun will feel reporting in to her new Mother Superior with a suitcase full of vibrators and filmy ropa interior.

David

David- I thought about that too. But I'm sure the big wad of cash will convince them this was an act of God, despite the dildos and ramera-wear.

HellaShelle- I loved your whole comment. You tell them, girl!

Why did we never discuss Andres as a possibility for Angela? It could be a good match, but he's always seemed a bit slow on the uptake to me, and Angela just seems to be more intelligent. But they are both nice people, and if Angela hooked up with newly rich Andres, she'd be able to afford to dedicate herself to her new agey stuff. There must be a reason why the writers moved her from the good vibes kiosk at the mall, to the center of the action at the fonda.

Of course Karina would be okay with having a baby with her stalkee.

The person we should be wondering about is Alonso, for agreeing to have a baby with his stalker and then getting her pregnant the old fashioned way.

Now that Karina is pregnant, it makes me fear that she will not survive this TN, that she will have to die for Irene & Alonso to get back together (and raise Al Jr.)

Natalia was stuck on stupid for going down Rape Alley.

I can't wait for Brat's pie cart. Something tells me she's going to be worse to Natalia when she finds out Señora Irene is Nat's bio-mom.

Vivi, this was bold and bright. Your always perfect details were marvelous and your humor and frankness superb. Excellent recap.

"I’m guessing she went out like the bitch she was, despite what Padre says about her repenting." Vivi, I wish you’d stop pussyfooting around and say what you mean :) And of course I totally agree with you. She was a monster and I am also glad she is gone and unable to torture Mara further. It was frustrating that we don't know definitively if her mother apologized to Mara, but I doubt it.

"Alberto has sobered up, but hasn’t wised up", "Bro Central" and "Her spidey sense should have gone off right then and there" were a few of my favorites.

I thought La Jaiba losing everything to the nun was great justice. I do hope though that she doesn't return, I think she has played out her role here and hope we have more time for Paolo, Mara and other of our favorite characters.

I was going to comment on the Nat/Diego/Rod situation but deleted what I wrote because Karen's insightful comment was perfect: "I love romance but instead of promoting the message that the heart wants what the heart wants, perhaps tns could also add that love is a choice. And when the person who claims to love you continues to mistrust and mistreat you, its time to let that relationship go. and it's becoming a bit tedious".

HellaShelle, like you, I'm thinking (hoping) that Tad and Irene are together at the end. Karina and Alonso are both so immature but like many of you did think for a tic that they might work out. Ummm. Maybe.

David: "But consider how the nun will feel reporting in to her new Mother Superior with a suitcase full of vibrators and filmy ropa interior" was hysterical.

Poor Alberto! He so desperately wants to have his own family and be part of Carmen's! Will there be any redemption for Brig???

Vivi, I don't see Andres and Anglea. But, (call me crazy) I did think she might be a good match for Abdalah. I realize the age difference but they both seem to be very serious people and thought they might spark. I did feel for Abdul who (rightly) believes his father abandoned him. That is not forgiven quickly or easily.

Please let the truth come out tonight so Nat can begin to understand and accept her parents and let's get Tad's bone marrow surgery underway.

Vivi, you've made my day.

Diana

Always fabulous, Vivi! Thanks for the recap. Though I'm not sure I'm happy about being kept in the loop in this case. What a bunch of doofuses.

I actually kind of like the idea of Andres and Angela. There's got to be a reason they've kept him around too!

Thank you so much, Vivi in DC!

To me, the question is not "if" Fish Lips Brat is going to be redeemed, my question is: "Why should she be redeemed?" Someone will have to point me in the direction of any of her good deeds as I don't recall seeing any? For someone so young, she is so miserable.

Alonso and Karina. Oy. This storyline just flat out boggles my mind. EVERY time I see Karina and that crazy, far off look in her eyes, I think she is a nut job. Alonso is even nuttier. His character is making no sense to me now.

Like Diana, I hope the truth finally comes out tonight and that we don't have days and days of Dumb Natalia's anger.

Fatima

I actually think Brigitte will end up like Yago on Amor Bravo, estranged from her family and having to leave to go make her own way. When Carmen, Natalia & Abdul find out the lengths Brigitte has gone to in order to hurt Natalia...

I could see Abdul, Paolo & Lupita (her bio-sibs) rejecting Brigitte for her treatment of Natalia. I can't see Natalia or Carmen rejecting her. I can see Brigitte rejecting them, though. I can see her pulling a YOU LIKE HER BETTER THAN ME trip and leaving town.

Maybe she'll find her daddy and he'll whisk her away. I don't see how any of the Garcias could ever trust Brigitte again. Certainly when Irene finds out what Brigitte's been up to she and her short dresses will be tossed out of Caprico.

My bad, Vivi, I didn't even thank you for your awesome recap (which I hope didn't interfere with your early meeting). I ditto Anon 8:33's favorites and highlight a joint favorite from his/her post: ""I’m guessing she went out like the bitch she was, despite what Padre says about her repenting." Vivi, I wish you’d stop pussyfooting around and say what you mean :)" I thank you both for giving me my first chuckle of the day.

On rape alley - I've definitely been in Nat's shoes i.e. stuck in creepy looking area by myself. I can understand her feeling like this is creepy, but what should I do? Bail on the meeting, go back to Caprico and report to Rod and Vicente that I got scared because of a narrow, graffitied hallway in the middle of the day with the cabbie (supposedly) waiting for me? 1) These are the moments when a thought bubble would help 2) I talked about it with some friends who said they'd be afraid of looking like a child in front of their employer blah, blah, blah. And given that Nat will bail on work to go support various friends and family members through bad days all the time, I would think she would bail on a meeting if she felt creeped out, especially having almost been raped before. Twice.

Now, my go to has always been to call someone on my cell, tell them where I am and keep them on the phone until I get to where I need to be. If Nat had done that, especially if she had called Diego, we would have all been spared a lot of head scratching, head shaking, forehand slapping and general head abusing moments last night.

Fatima - ditto on Brig. I want to see her recognize the injustice of the way she treats her family, but I don't think she deserves a happy ending at the end of all of this. I honestly don't know what Al sees in her because their every interaction has been fighting or her basically ignoring him while he has a good time (except for that one mini scene the night the found out she was preggers right after he said he wanted to buy them a new apartment.)

Awesome Vivi and love your clever format. I highlighted too many of your clever retorts to list so let me slide this time with two thumbs up.

Whew. La Jaiba isn't the only one should have been on that bus outta town.

What is so hard about a couple uniting and formulating a strategy against a common foe or for a desired outcome. If they cannot and go solo cowboy they deserve all the bad blood and a bullet in the back of the relationships head.

Diego - the bigger they are the harder they fall

Tad - go ahead on, I got all the time in the world

Abdul - pissing and moaning about mama & daddy to Mali is just pissing and moaning

Mali - oh wise one

Alberto - oh you moron

Brigitte - bad copy

Hot Rod - last one, a pop up fly. this one, outta the park.

Carmen - keep missing them potholes

Alonso - I know what you're thinking but wait till he's dead to comfort the widow

Karina - accolades go to a gracious host not the oven

Nat - " That's a strange way to tell me you love me"

Oh my, you had me at your description of wretched mama's apartment "decked out in God and Jesus bling". Yep, icons and bloody portraits everywhere, but not one bit of the love and forgiveness that Christ preached. Sad story.

Like a lot of other folks I also loved "Alberto has sobered up but hasn't wised up.". You conveyed so much in that one short sentence.

And "rape alley" and "steep rape staircase" were chilling.

Just have NOT had the patience to watch this lately. But found the recap and comments just wonderful. Thank you Vivi and thank you all. This line has gotten very lively I must say!

@Tofie - I was just thinking about this (Quote: "What is so hard about a couple uniting and formulating a strategy against a common foe or for a desired outcome. If they cannot and go solo cowboy they deserve all the bad blood and a bullet in the back of the relationships head.") and about to ask if something along those lines could be the weekend discussion topic. Out of the TNs you've seen, who have been your fave couples and why?

I REALLY liked Amor Bravio's Camila and Daniel because they lived and worked together for a little bit. It was before they got married, so I was a little shocked to see it on a TN, but the way they fought, made up and worked together was much more realistic than other couples I'd seen.

Thank you to all the recappers and commenters. I may miss the show but this is must-read.

I've been thinking lately that whenever Diego enters a room, someone needs to duck tape him to the door frame BY HIS MOUTH so he has to listen without interrupting.

LOL Emilia, that's a GREAT! idea. Most of these characters need that treatment, esp Nat lately. And there are so much more enjoyable ways of shutting up your amado, you just have to get through the talking and listening parts first...

HellaShelle,my sentiments exactly! You stated it very well re Fish Lips Brat!!!

Fatima

HellaShelle, don't know in TN land because I am a relative new comer, though quickly addicted, spending most of the last 10 years on the other side of the world and a diet of asian soaps. You still had at least one of the partners in a relationship more invested than the other or the timing bad or one had narcissistic tendencies or a sense of entitlement with real or imagined royal blood running through their veins. Rarely, outside of flash in the pan lust, did folks get down to or act like partners, back to back defending each others back.

I see a few here but they are missing something and it bothers me.

Tad & Irene, seemingly united in developing a relationship with the long lost daughter, playing house for both their benefit and I believe Irene doesn't want him to die but she lust still for a boy and one little stumble from being back in the sack with him.

Abdul & Mari, though not really a romance yet, do support each other and are ok with deferring to the others strengths. Although Abdul got a little wobbly last night, Mari talked him down and didn't poopoo his lament when she really could have.

Paolo & Mara, while young, are attracted to each other, they act mature for their ages and acknowledge they are better together than apart. Not solely because they think the other will run off with someone else or loneliness but a four fisted struggle is better than a two fisted one. It just feels good to cry on the shoulder of someone that wants to share your pain.

Nice analysis. A lot of people at CarayCaray like Pasion because the main couple hung together for most of it and supported each other. I only saw bits and pieces, but it is one the blog favorites, along with Alborada and Amor Real (which were more typical in that there were lots of misunderstandings between the protagonists).

Excellent recap, Vivi.

BTW, I'm slated to recap tonight's episode. Since I was never given full access to the dashboard, I'm still going to need help from you or someone else with access to upload my recap once I complete it. Can I email it to you like I used to do with my C.I. recaps? I'll try to get it done tonight, but it's possible that I won't have it ready until Saturday morning.

LatinaInMD- Absolutely. I'm going to be out tonight, so no rush.

Hey, what great comments while I was away. Emilia! Hi, amiga. So nice to see you here.

Does anybody else wonder why the writers don't provide the glaringly necessary insight the audience needs to root for a character? I can understand the ridiculous scenarios (they are soaps after all), but sometimes it seems like it would be so simple to explain a character's motivations, and they just don't. They're usually better at the villains (who are, granted, usually one note and eventually insane) than they do the protagonistas (who are often also one note, and so should at least be as well explained as their antagonistas.) Thoughts?

HellaShelle- I think some tns are better than others at giving characters a real back story and a consistent character. There are always some characters better drawn than others. I think it must be hard to do that for all characters, especially when you have a large ensemble cast like in this tn. Since this is a "light" tn, I also think there's less effort to do this. Writers seem to make more of an effort to explain character backgrounds and motivations during the later night/more dramatic tns.

I don't know but seems all the protagonists are blindly in love and perpetually stupid. I wonder often, are there acting classes that specialize in blank, dumb stares? Cause if I got a nickle for every one of those, I'd move to Beverly, Hills, that is.

@tofie-LOL, yes indeed! I've read comments from American soap actors who have noted the ways soap direction is awkward for actors and some really stuck out to me: the bumpers after a dramatic revelation/before a commercial break, cheating out to and facing the camera when you're hugging, talking to someone and yes, the blank stare of the idiot.

Vivi - I definitely agree that there are tns that clearly spend more time making sure characters are consistent and their actions are believable. I just don't get why they give so much of the same, rather than cutting out a little fluff so the audience doesn't hate the characters.

Example: Why do we have an entire scene of Diego and Irene going to her house, with him stopping to get a spam message on his phone? Instead, we need a thought bubble from the heroine to explain why she's going down a creepy alley by herself. Instead of multiple scenes of Diego literally ranting and screaming the same things over and over again, give us twenty seconds of him saying, with some semblence of calm, "I wouldn't believe either, but I saw it with my own eyes! She she's been lying to me and sneaking off without any explanation. Instead of ignoring him, she's not even fighting his placement at work, even though he screwed us on the telas! She believes all of his lies, takes his calls, holds his hand when he claims he doesn't feel well...it's too much for me not to doubt." As ridiculous as she is, and as much as I dislike her, Brig had that scene with Carmen that clearly explained how she thinks about Nat and why she hates her. Can I get one for Big Al explaining why he stays with her? Carmen got her scene with the brujas at the funeral demonstrating that instead of resorting to blows and ending up arrested like she did before, she's learned how to defend her kids calmly, with her words. Can I see some growth from the protagonistas? It just has me shaking my head. But I know, I know, guys: I have to remember that this is a tn universe.

I'm literally sick at last night's developments.

Looking forward to the recap.
