De Que Te Quiero Te Quiero #162, 8/22/2014
I didn't take notes and I probably should have. Please fill in. Oh, and there was no mention of the will.
I'll just start with Rod, Al and the tribunal (for lack of a better word.) Al reports that Rod is perfectly responsible for his acts and should rot. Rod continues with his act. "Oh yeah?" he sneers "If I'm so OK, then why do I see Dead Al standing right behind you?" Rod says some other things and Al is pushed to his limits and starts punching Rod. Way to go, dude. Ruin the case. Rod is carted off to the hospital. I'm sure this is setting up for lax security and an escape. Al gets yelled at for beating up on Rod.
El and Luz manage to catch up with the Garcias. They happen upon Paolo and Mara (who are still attempting a little hubba hubba in the woods.) El announces his move to Mérida. Carmen haz a sad. Lupita is also upset and El tells her he'll always care for her. I seem to remember Luz says something to El about at least letting Lupita know he's not really moving, but El is sure Lupita will squeal. Carmen has to believe that he's really leaving.
Diego and Simona stumble onto the Garcia campsite. They need water. Simona won't let him explain why. They get invited to lunch. Natalia channels her inner sourpuss, but Irene advises her to be nice. That way, Simona can look like the sourpuss when she gets all prissy...at least that is the plan. Nat's attempt to make her look like a spoiled princess backfires. Turns out Simona is pretty good at soccer. Nat makes a pretty blatant foul. Diego and Simona thank the Garcias for a nice afternoon and head back to the campsite.
When they get back, Diego wants to build a fire so he goes in search of kindling/firewood. He runs into Paolo and Mara while he's out looking. It was awkward. I hate to think what he saw. Nat also sees him and scoots away. He talks to himself "hmmm. I could swear I saw Nat." He chalks it up to hallucinations.
Simona decides to surprise Diego and fix herself up. She also spritzes herself with perfume....and proceeds to run into a beehive and gets attacked. She starts to feel the affects of so many sting. The scratches a note in the dirt: I had to leave. She takes the car and heads out leaving Diego alone and a little confused. He enjoys his evening watching the comet and thinking how nice it would be if Nat were there.
El also calls his underling and tells him to let Alonso know where Irene is. El gives directions to the campsite. Alonso arrives as they are watching the comet. He and Irene talk. She needs more time. They smooch. El finally tells Carmen he loves her and that plot seems to finally be coming to its conclusion when the writers remember we still have 5 episodes. They decide to have Carmen get mad a El for lying to her. She slaps him.
The next day El and Al compare notes as do Carmen and Irene. Carmen tells Irene to come with her and they make a production of going for a walk, knowing the boys will follow. They are too old to be acting like this. The guys follow. El decides to make puma sounds to scare Carmen and Irene. They act like they are afraid, then circle back and whack the boys with branches.
Nat goes swimming. Diego sneaks up on her. She tells him to scram. He swims to shore and pretends to slip while getting out of the cenote (spring...no one actually said it, I just remember it from Abismo de Pasion.) Nat rescues him and smoochies ensue.
Simona returns and decides to look for Diego.
Avances
- Nat and Diego still smooch
- Simona returns

I know Nat and Diego will get back together, and Irene will go with Alonso and I am sooo disappointed!! I would hope I'm wrong but that;s how I see it.
What's going to happen to Simona?
Ann-NYC
So nice of Diego to decide that Nat is an angel who can do no wrong NOW! They made a bad move with that flashback sequence full of declarations of undying love and trust. All it did was remind me of his angry/jealous rants that went directly against all the "promise me we'll be together forever" "when you love someone you trust them" talk. It made me even less enthusiastic for the two of theme to be together, except for that fact that Simona doesn't deserve to be stuck with Diego.
And what's with Alonso's urgency? You're not dying, dude! You can wait! Why's it gotta be now, now, now?! I will admit to being petty to ask this question...Did he even bother checking to make sure Karina was going to be looked after during his absence or did he just assume Oscar would be there and take off without saying anything to anyone?
Ann-NYC
Ann, I think she deserves to have something good happen after all this mess!
Alonso ... ughhh ... he looks like a sappy, surprised little toad all the time.
Simona seems to have to become the writers punching bag. After one horrible day, she is then chased by bees. I guess in the writers mind she either had to be tormented or killed. I hope she just runs from Diego but the previews are not hopeful.
And I am concerned that the next step is for Simona to go crazy; I think Kat's instinct are right. There is always the possibility that Nat will act worse and scare Simona away.
Uni is cutting again. That's another reason for me to not watch their stuff in the future. They don't respect their audiences.
Nanette & tofie, you both won and little Al showed up. Rats!! And Kat we know Al didn't ask one thing about Karina. He's only worried for her when its convenient to him.
Karen, I couldn't help thinking that about Al. He basically forgot to feed her the other night when he was busy studying. Good thing she (a) isn't a goldfish and (b) has Oscar looking out for her!
Oh yes, Our "heroine" was showing exceptionally bad behavior last night. Sulking, pouting and then tripping Simona as she was about to score in the "cascara". Ugh.
Also, double ugh to El phoning Alonso to get him to come up and stalk Irene some more. Has Tadeo even been dead a month!? Jeez.
I was trying not to be a sourpuss last night and find something to like in the episode. Lupita was adorable in her little hat. And her hug with El. Simona's purple dress was awesome. Too bad it left a lot of flesh exposed for bee stings but still... A fabulous dress.
This story has completely derailed, but at least it will be ending soon. Clearly the writers are even more tired than we are.
Thanks for hanging in there Sara. After a long week of teaching class, you deserved better, amiga mia.
I actually didn't see things as the writers making Simona look like a fool, despite the incredible bad luck. When Nat thought she'd continue to be aloof, Simona actually warmed up to everyone AND was great at soccer. In fact, everyone got on Nat's case about the blatant foul, and at the end all the Garcias were raving about what a cool girl she is, and she was saying how much she liked them. The Garcias also go them water and the other provisions they needed and invited them to share their campsite. I thought this was very nice of them.
Simona had a darned good reason to leave after she got attacked by bees, but still finds the means to write a quick note, and she came back! That speaks so well of her, that she would go through all that and not leave Diego stranded.
Meanwhile, he couldn't care less about what was happening to her, and spends all his time thinking about, stalking, and smooching his ex. The only people who came out looking bad this episode were Nat and Diego. Perhaps this whole Simona thing will be a lesson for Diego and Nat that their foolishness can actually hurt innocent people like Simona, and that they both need to be less self-centered and more thoughtful about the way they conduct their relationship.
I shivered slightly that it did appear that Rod would be able to escape the surely minimal security a hospuital setting would provide. Sigh.
"Carmen haz a sad" and "Natalia channels her inner sourpuss" were my favorites.
In truth, I was disconcerted by Al showing up because I really don't care for him. And the kiss? Sorry - clearly inapprpropriate so soon. As you noted Judy, Tad died but weeks ago so I was miffed at both El and Al. And, at Irene.. Also Kat, as you noted, did he even think about or do anything to be sure Karina was looked after?
I thought Simona was a real trooper. She joined in and she did well. She didn't whine or complain and honestly? She fit right in...Karen, the writers clearly did want to torment her. Anon, I couldn't believe Nat kicked her! The bees were overkill certainly. Wasn't Nat's stinging stare and shin kick enough? And still, after a face and body full of bee stings, she returned! She is some woman.
If Simona's brief absence made him run back to Nat, then so be it. Simona deserves better.
Thanks Sara!
Diana
“Perhaps this whole Simona thing will be a lesson for Diego and Nat that their foolishness can actually hurt innocent people like Simona”,
A person’s well being and happiness should not depend on some other person changing or learning a lesson. There is indeed a lesson to be learned here but IMO the lesson is for Simona. She has to pick up the pieces and move on because I doubt that neither Diego or Nat will view Simona’s situation as their problem.
"who are still attempting a little hubba hubba in the woods."
Vivi, you about took the words outta my mouth about Simona and how quickly Diego moved on to Nat. However, I don't think either Nat or Diego will learn anything from her.
Nat - What?
Alonso - somebody missed their nap
Simona - and, see these, they're real
Hot Rod - playing possum
Irene - never said my tongue missed Tad
Diego - not my fault
El - are you sure about this
Lupita - where's your next gig
Carmen - oh, shut up that was a love tap
Paulo - get a room
Sue, I think it's a matter of Nat and Diego living up to being the kind of people they want to be. If Brigitte doesn't care who she hurts, that makes sense because she's Brigitte and she's always said she doesn't care--her self-image and behavior are consistent. Nat and Diego are supposed to be "good" characters, and likely think of themselves that way. If they're going to live up to that, then they can't go around acting like no one else's feelings are important. It's really not about what Simona needs, because I agree with you that she can't depend on anyone else to take care of her needs/feelings. And so far, she doesn't seem to be that type of person, at least not from what I've seen.
The manchild Alonso and the emotional adolescent Irene are perfect for each other but I am way past caring.
El & Carmen are perfect for each other and think they are cute, though El sure got his hands full with that one.
Soooo, I guess the TN gods had their way with me and concede defeat.
I give a shout out to Simona. She proved what is right below the surface of the reigning Perfect Princess if you give it a little scratch.
I think everyone deserves an award for putting up with the two hour grinds, the editing and the character assassinations.
Kat, I feel like I've said it so much that it starts to ring false...but I am very glad you took this on because it was one I really wanted to see and it's always more fun to watch with friends ;-)
But after a while, you sucked me in! And thank goodness Sara, Karen and Vivi joined her after a while because that IS a heavy load.
The 7 pm line is a great community. I love CarayCaray and I love this group. Thanks to all.
Have a great weekend everybody.
Well said Kat. I agree with you 100% on this point.
Simona is a strong educated woman who is perfectly capable of standing on her own two feet. I think it's us here in viewerville who feel we have to protect her.
We've made the man that she is in love with less than she deserves. And holding out false hope that the writers will bring in a man more deserving of her affection. At the same time we're still not sure that the writer's won't just plan kill her or make her go crazy just for the sake of Nat and Diego getting together. The writers have a lot to be desired but I think that kind of thinking is overkill. I hope I'm wrong.
tofie, if you're right...how terrible is it that I'd rather it be a truck than a character assassination?
It's getting harder to watch as we reach the end. I continue to be amazed that El and Carmen are acting so juvenile, but the Idiot Alonso and Irene match up are just too much. It doesn't even make sense and they are making Irene dumber and dumber.
Just exactly when did this TN go off the rails? Anyone have any ideas? I'm still going to miss the Garcias, but the adults in this story are behaving very badly.
Simona almost seems totally out of place as the only adult.
Where has Kim been? Has she been written out of the story?
Fatima
For me, it went off the rails when Rod was in jail the first time and Grumps engineered Natalia's arrest and got Nat and Diego to drop all their charges. Every time Nat or Diego was in a room alone with him, being the two people he had done the most damage to, it just felt unrealistic.
Yes I think you are right about the first time Rod was a Jail Bird. The characters seem to have lost something along the way. I am a true broken record, but that Alonso/Irene match up just FRIES me!
5FT, I agree with Judyb and Vivi in DC that you pulled us all into this story. Your talent never ceases to amaze me. I am sure you will go very far in the theatre world!
Fatima
It's also been fun to have others who understand why we mock when the writers just write bad stuff (horribly inconsistent characters, troubling plots, etc). And as Sara noted, when tns go bad, the recaps are gold. On this tn and others, some of the most side-splitting reads and brilliant snark comes emerges.
tofie, that's right! And little Al physically picking up Diego all by himself! I remember thinking there was no way he'd make it downstairs without dropping him. Ah, the memories.
Those Cacares boys must be tougher than we give them credit for. Diego was supposed to be so drugged out of his mind that he shouldn't have been able to get up and walk out of the cabin on his own. Now Rod's in the hospital with bruised ribs and something wrong with his neck, which makes it sound like he ought to be careful with it, but he'll probably have no problem getting up out of bed by himself and causing trouble! He'll probably even laugh. Seduce a nurse. Maybe even dance a jig.
Karen, I'm happy to have somewhere where my snark is appreciated!
I havent seen the epsode yet, but based on this recaps and comments im glad I didnt. The thing with Simona is she is obviously way out of Diegos league in the maturity department, but understanding that relationships have bumps is why she decided to tough it out for her man. he didnt desreve it. He has shown nothing to prove he can handle a mature relationship, I was wrong about him I thought he had grown up. Now nat is assaulting Simona??? Whatever, im no longer watching this, its killing my senses. I will check the recaps to see what happened but I cant take this nonsense anymore.
We were spared Nat biting her.
Mr. 5ft has reviewed the play in question and isn't sure it would have warranted even a yellow card. I'm ruling it more of a "party foul." He also pointed out that we have a tradition on this show of whoever loses the soccer game wins the girl/boy. El is pretty much guaranteed to end up with Carmen and his team lost the "Cops vs. Bowling Alley" game.
Bryan, what was fun about the episode was pretty much everything non-verbal. Back in the DF, all the "adults" are typically dressed in business-casual to business wear. Seeing everyone in casualwear was a nice change. As Gobluefan pointed out earlier--Nat in a bikini is a thing of beauty. But also, Carmen and Irene in jeans instead of dresses.
Fatima: I've been wondering the same thing--when did this TN implode? I really liked it for a long time and then suddenly it went south. I think for me, it was when they did a personality transplant on Angela.
Diego quickly tossing over Simona is not out of character for him. Remember how quickly he tossed Diana to the side once Natalia came back into the picture?
Granted, Diana was cheating on him with Gigolo Gay Cousin (forgot his name) but until Natalia showed back up, they were enjoying sexual relations (with each other) and he was paying attention to her. That dried up quickly once Natalia hit the scene.
Honestly, Diego doesn't need to be in any relationships with anyone for a while. He fell in love with Nat, Nat disappeared, he immediately married Diana, Nat reappeared, tosses Diana to the side and professes love to Nat and gets engaged to her while still married to Diana, Diana dies and Diana's body wasn't even cold in the ground before Diego was making marriage plans with Nat.
Now Nat kicked Diego to the curb, and no sooner than he logged off YouTube, he gets involved with Simona. Now Simona is going to get the Diana treatment because he wants to be with Nat.
I guess Simona will be dumped or she may beat him to the punch. But she'll probably end up with no one.
