Mi Corazón es Tuyo Lunes 10/13/14 #61

Capitulo 61: After the Ball is Over...

Restroom: Hissabela overheard exactly what she couldn't take, that Ana is possibly her half-sister. “I'm the sister of my worst enemy,” she heard Ana say and she is equally horrified at the prospect.

Party: Bruno's cell phone rang; somebody from his secret life calling. Manuela looked suspicious as he told the caller he couldn't get away. He promised to tell her “very soon” what this is all about. She was not satisfied, but didn't make a scene. Jennifer and Ana came back from the ladies' room. Jennifer told her to wait for the DNA test results before going into a panic. “You can't be the sister of that tarantula.”

Restroom: Hissabela had a hissy fit over this possible discovery, praying that this was not true. She dried her hands, picked up her purse, and ran out to look for Yolanda.

She's actually praying to us that Ana isn't her sister? I guess we had to expect that.”

Don't worry, Hera. Her hubris will catch up with her. But Ana will not be burdened with these harpies forever. I can promise that much,” said Zeus.

I used to be disgusted but now I'm just amused. Even we couldn't change the past if we wanted to.”

Street: Meanwhile, Yolanda had had enough and was in a cab on the way back to the mansion. The driver was trying to be friendly asking about the party, but Yolanda went on about how boring and declassée it was. Finally she told the driver to just shut up and drive.

I'm sure that driver welcomes the silence,” said Hermes.

Party: Hissabela asked Fernando where her mother was and he told her he didn't know and hadn't seen her for a while. Nicolás told her she had left, but didn't know where to; Fernando suggested she went home. Hissbela left in frustration. Nick started talking about Manuela being the surrogate mother for his and Jennifer's hypothetical baby and how they need to consider her health; Fernando's reaction seems to indicate he wasn't particularly enthusiastic about it.

Enrique was at that moment attempting to put the moves on Fanny. He insinuated that León wasn't good enough for her and that she needed “a real man”. He pulled her in closer into Grinding Position (see Dirty Dancing for reference) and she pulled back. Quickly.

Good girl, Fanny!” said Aphrodite. “This man isn't worthy of any woman.”

She has good instincts,” said Athena. “I think she will be alright.”

I still kind of like the idea of afflicting him with a little.... dysfunction. Just as a preview of coming attractions.”

Lascuráin Mansion: Isababy charged in, shrewishly calling for her mother.

Party: Enrique asked Fanny what was wrong and she said she was tired and she should be leaving. He was annoyed.

León's Apartment: Mauricio woke up calling for his mother. He was obviously having a nightmare. León got up from where he was sleeping on the floor. Reina, the Rainbow Hair girl, came in. She sat down to help comfort the child. León thanked her and she left the room.

Lascuráin Mansion: Isababy went up to Yolanda's room, bothering her to get up. Yolanda didn't want to and tried to tell her she was tired, but Isababy wouldn't stop. Finally she sat up and they talked.
Isa told her what she overheard.

Party: Fanny told Ana she was going home; Ana was surprised that she was leaving alone. She started following her out because she knew something wasn't right.

Lascuráin Mansion: It looked like Isababy will be Yolanda's worst nightmare at least for the moment. She ranted on about the details she heard, about the rare lullaby, the red nail polish, about Ecatepec, about singing in the food trucks. Yolanda looked like she would rather have been anywhere else. Finally Isababy demanded to know about Yolanda's other baby. “Is it Ana? Is it that idiot? Why did you never tell me anything about this?” The answer was “It's something very sad, Isabela.”

Despite the tearful sound in Yolanda's voice, Isabruja wouldn't stop. “This is very serious, Mama,” she kept on. “What happened to that baby?” Yolanda didn't want to talk about this; Isabruja kept badgering her, calling her by her first name rather than “Mother”. “Did you give that baby up for adoption? Is Ana your daughter?” Yolanda began to cry.

León's Apartment: Reina sat at the kitchen table with a cup of something hot. He came out of the bedroom and poured himself some iced tea. He asked her what was keeping her up and she started talking about looking for something, something very far away. And that the something was closer than one imagines. He clearly had no idea what she was talking about. She asked how long they knew each other and it apparently has been since he was 10 years old (or 15 years). “And we're like brother and sister, right.” Not quite. She left León looking confused.

Lascuráin Mansion: Fanny came in thinking about Enrique's comments about her needing a “real man” thinking this was weird.

While she was thinking about this Isabruja was imploring Yolanda to answer her questions. “Don't you know how I hate Ana with every fibre of my being?” she wailed. “Please tell me she isn't my sister. Please!”

At that moment Ana and Diego arrived carrying the three youngest children. She explained how Fernando decided she should return to the mansion and fortunately she was free to come back in the emergency. She fished the key from her purse and they entered.

Isababy went on and on until Yolanda told her that her sister was stillborn. Isabruja then thanked Heaven for this and Yolanda could barely believe that she could be so callous. She shook her head as Isabruja pointed out that this meant that Ana The Servant wasn't her sister.

Before this is over she will pray to us to strike Ana dead,” said Zeus. “Of course, that is something beyond hubris.”

Are you thinking about her Karmageddon already?” asked Hera. “I thought you were going to leave that one up to me.”

Actually, I think you and the other ladies should come to an agreement about that. She is offending all of our laws.”

She may actually try to kill her.”

I think she's too much of a coward, but we will be vigilant.”

As Ana and Diego carried the twins and Luz up the stairs they talked about the camping trip they would be taking.

Is Isabruja bipolar? She certainly behaved that way when she had a light-bulb moment. She started talking about using Ana's emotions against her by allowing her to believe that Yolanda is her mother. They'd have her eating out of Yolanda's hand and eventually lower the boom with the truth in order to destroy her.

What do you make of Yolanda now?”

I don't know, Hera,” Athena said. “All I get from her is that she's tired of that high-maintenance daughter's tantrums. She might be thinking she screwed up somehow.”

I think so, too,” said Persephone. “She might go along with her because it needs too much energy to fight her. Our work is far from done.”

Ana thanked Diego for helping with the children. He kissed her goodnight. She kissed him back, but there was no embrace.

Party: The party was over and everyone was leaving. Alicia thanked Fernando, who said she didn't have to and she thanked and embraced Sebastián for what he did.

As they walked out Fernando asked Enrique why Fanny left early and he said she was tired because they've been working late these days. Fernando accepted this explanation and shook his hand, saying he'll see him at the office on Monday. Enrique congratulated him on putting his family first. He had never seen him so happy. Fernando said something about how he was foolish not to see this sooner and Enrique's answer was “Take good care of them because they'll be around when you're gone.” That caused Fernando to look at him out of the corner of his eye, then directly before he left.

After he departed Enrique realized he may have tipped his hand and reproached himself for losing control.

Lascuráin Mansion: Ana went into Fanny's room and asked what was wrong. Fanny closed the door first then made Ana promise not to tell Fernando. Finally she told her she was getting a bad vibe about Enrique.

Ana told her to be specific because she didn't have a good vibe either. Fanny explained about the horse and how Enrique began insinuating things. She was feeling guilty that perhaps it was her fault; she asked Ana about that. Ana told her No Way and asked her what she planned to do. Fanny told her she intended to talk to Enrique at work. Then the $64K question: León? Fanny was caught off guard.

Isabruja started inventing a story about how Yolanda could be Ana's mother.

She was pleased with herself and called back to Yolanda for her reaction, but she was already asleep and snoring.

Downstairs, Fernando stopped Manuela so he could talk to her.

Fanny was still unsure whether she could forgive León. Ana told her that the forgiveness must be complete. Fanny did seem to get that if she loses León then their love wasn't strong or real enough.

Fernando started to talk to Manuela and Bruno regarding the surrogacy when he realized that the kids were in the room. He decided to postpone this discussion until Monday.

The other kids went into the kitchen and Alicia thanked her father for everything, especially about the dress. He told her that Ana was a great woman and that she had changed their home.

Neither had any idea that Ana was at the top of the stairs and heard every word.

Brianna, Sebastián, and Nando came out of the kitchen with big glasses of lemonade, with Brianna saying how nice it was of their father to let her stay over that night. Fernando told her that his daughter's friends are always welcome.

She and Alicia headed upstairs but Brianna kissed Nando first.

He made a teasing remark to Sebastián and they started up the stairs. Fernando asked Sebas to stay for a talk. Fernando asked if he was alright; he said he was and he appeared to be.

Two “I love you's” later he went upstairs with a comment about his father's dancing. Fernando laughed at the memory and executed a few clumsy steps before going upstairs.

Fernando is Strictly Ballroom,” said Apollo, shaking his golden head. “Before this is over I'll make sure Terpsichore reminds him.”

Fernando went up to the master bedroom and Isabruja was in her usual bitchy mood.

She reminded him of his promise to do everything possible to make her happy. Except that he is doing the absolute minimum. Her list included that he make Ana sleep at her own home, that his children respect her, and that they treat her like the lady of the house. However, none of this has come to pass. He held his breath a moment, then got up and took some of his clothes.

He said that this promise was impossible to keep and that he was sleeping elsewhere. “In the nana's room?” she asked, sarcastically. “No; in the room that was my brother's. Good night.”

When he was out the door she threw a cushion at it and asked herself whether it was possible for love to turn into hate. She finally decided that she was beginning to hate Fernando.

Jennifer & Ana's House: Johnny was looking at the magazine cover and getting upset over losing the chick's telephone number. Jennifer came home and teased him.

When she saw the magazine cover she asked some questions and he showed her that the slip of paper with the phone number was wiped out in the rain.

Lascuráin Mansion: Bruno sneaked a toy out of the boys' room and almost ran into Fernando in the hall. He pulled back into the boys' room; one of the twins seemed to be yelling in his sleep. He held his breath and remained still.

Fernando went downstairs to the kitchen remembering moments when he felt close to Ana. He looked around a moment before getting the lemonade pitcher from the fridge.

Nando came down, also unable to sleep. They sat down to talk and Nando explained that Ximena blamed him for her being locked up. Fernando tried to get him – for the nth time – to understand that he shouldn't worry about her.

He should take care of himself now.

Bruno was working on repairing the toy he took from the boys' room.

The following morning Diego arrived to pick up Ana for their trip. It's a day trip after all; she said they'd see him that night. The twins came downstairs and persuaded him to go into the kitchen to make hotcakes with them.

Luz came down all excited and he took her inside. There must have been quite a few mistakes because they went through at least a dozen eggs before he flipped out the first one.

All the kids except Fanny and Nando were there and this erupted into a playful food fight with the flour. Pity the maids at cleanup.

Hospital: Fanny and Laura went to visit Ximena, bringing her fashion magazines and other stuff. She was happy to see them.

Park: León and Reina took Mauricio to the park for a picnic. She revealed her real feelings for him.

Mountains (?): Ana and Diego climbed up for a view and for ziplining? The heights seemed to bother her for a moment. Finally they kissed. Looks real to us.

Urban, great recap and insightful Olympian commentary. Yes, "pity the maids at cleanup" even though it looked like fun. Thanks.

Some good parts:

Fanny going with her gut and giving old Enrique the heave ho and then telling Ana about her feelings.

Yolanda falling asleep on Isabela still in the middle of her tirade.

Fernando moving to Diego's old room to get away from Isabela. Let us hope a more formal distancing like a divorce just might become more palatable to Fernando

Off topic: Jane the Virgin started tonight on the CW with Jaime Camil playing the main character's father and a famous telenovela star. Interesting plot with lots of humor.

Thanks for a thorough and delightful recap, Urban. Your commentary from on high (Olympus) adds an extra dimension.

Fanny is showing excellent judgement with Enrique--a refreshing change.

Thanks Urban, for the fast recap which is always appreciated while it is all fresh on my mind:) So happy Fanny got the message - I hope they tune Fernando in on this so that he gets a red flag with Enrique - what a slimeball! I'm confused about the Yolanda-Isabel-Ana connection. If her sister was stillborn, then where does Ana fit in? I must have missed something. Love the way Fernando gave the shaft to Isabel - I think that's the realization he's come to, he's made his decision to divorce Isabel, which gave rise to his happy flour flinging - celebrating his decision and the prospect of being with Ana at last.

Gracias, Urban and Olympians, for the insightful recap and revealing screenshots!

Yay!! Yomama as Ana's mama was a red herring! This non-relation thrills me. However, the brujas definitely cross into major karmageddon (love the word) territory if they use this fake relation to their advantage and Ana's detriment. Zeus, get your lightning bolt ready . . .

Urban you always tickle me with your recaps. Loads of pics to enjoy and, of course, our insightful goddesses to eavesdrop on.

And I think they may be on to something with Yomama. How deeply she falls into hurting Ana with the fake mother game will be telling. From the previews it seems she is giving it her all and for that, both these brujas will need to pay. There is no humor there. But do so glad Ana is not related, but lord, how hurt she will be. I want a swift resolve to that and hope it's Isa's downfall.

Fernando was cute with the kids, though let's hope HE cleaned up the mess. Walking out on her highness was a nice moment. She is losing the war. Only worry for me, if she knows she can't push Fer around anymore, where does that leave her? How drastic will she get in wanting Ana taken down? I'm not so worked up by the financials...if Fer was a savvy business man, he should have money put aside she can't get to. I don't think the family would be destitute.

Thrilled about Fanny: not only pushing Eeky away at the party but fessing up to Ana. That whole plot line had me concerned so thanks to the writers for not going where we thought they might go. Smart girl. Now I wish Nando had better insight. I feel for Ximena, though the way they are portraying her "bi-polar" just seems off to me, but I still don't like her with our be-speckled young dude.

Saw pics of a celebration on set and Pablo was front and center. So hoping all the mish-mash about him being out was rumor only. Haven't heard a peep about any of that anymore, so I'm now enjoying the Diego/Ana scenes. Even with Fer loosening up, I still like these two together more.

Lord, Johny is aggravating. His plot lines are a total waste of time.

I saw no avances so I don't know what's up with Yomama. I really think that Ana needs to push for a DNA test so she doesn't end up disappointed a second time.

As for what the truth is I think that Yolanda knew Ana's mother. Maybe they're even related in some way. But if Yolanda does actually participate in this gaslighting of Ana she's doomed. Her ridiculous pursuit of Bruno doesn't jive with the insecure snobbery she passed down to Isabela so I have to wonder if there's an Alzheimer's story coming up.

We weren't privy to the amount of Isabruja's debt that Fernando paid off. Here's hoping that it didn't deplete his liquid assets. Also, what happened to her apartment? Did she own it or was it a rental? If she owned it did she put it on the market, rent it out, or neither? If the latter, she's an idiot.

I can't imagine her living on the hacienda, which has to be making some money.

Since Fernando wasn't boinking Isabitch, making it official by moving to Diego's old room makes total sense and is also making a statement. The food fight with the kids might be his unconscious declaration of divorce; I wonder how aware he is of Isabitch's hatred of his children.

Oh, forgot to add UA, thanks sooo much for the Strictly Ballroom scenes. One of my all time favorite movies, which now I just have to watch again in its entirety after watching those clips.

Daisynjay

UA, great recap and great lines by the 'gods/goddesses'... i hope you are on to something with them.

two little things...
when Ana and Fanny talked Ana asked about Leo and then said 'just one thing dear, if you give it enough time he might 'fly away'' and then you would lose him... to which Fanny responded that if she lost him then their love was not strong enough..

and what Sebas said about Fernando as he head up the stairs was stte of 'now i know where i get my love for dancing from'... (this is why Fer was smiling and then took a few dance steps on his own...)

LOVED LOVED the flour scene at the kitchen, and i thought the same as you, UA, how many tried they had before the 'first one' came out given the amount of eggs they had gone through... Brianna asked Alicia how come his dad has changed so much, and Alicia said stte of 'i guess we would need to blame Ana for that'.

and about the previews... you don't wanna know... it is the brujas plan in progress while Fernando keeps having fun with the kids on Ana's day off.

I am imagining Isabruja coming down to the kitchen and yelling her head off at the mess. Of course, this would out her hatred of Fernando's children but since she has realized that Fernando will never love her she might not care.

Which would be very stupid, indeed.

As a side note, Isabruja knows nothing about children. If she had expressed any curiosity about this and willingness to learn she wouldn't be such a bitch. But, then we wouldn't have a story, either. I know nothing of taking care of very small children (as in younger than Luz) because I never had to assume any responsibility for any when I was growing up. As an "only" Isabruja would have also had limited opportunity to learn any of this. But we also have to wonder what Yolanda was like when she was growing up.

We may never know, either.

I am not so sure that Isa told Fernando specifically that he had promised to help get the kids to 'respect' her but he DID promise he would do everything possible to make her happy (which is up to us to decide whether what he has done has been 'everything possible'..) And when he looked for something in the drawer he told her that he had tried to fulfill that promise but SHE had made it impossible (again, it is left to our judgement to say whether it is HER making it hard for him or it is HIM making excuses to not have put 100% into the 'marriage'.)

as for the moving to Diego's room, i am not so sure it is a long term change... but certainly between that and the making pancakes in the morning, he is certainly making it clear that his priority is the kids and not Isa... I would not be surprised Isa went to 'meet the girls for coffee' again...
At least Ana learned that Fernando was the one that came with the idea of Alicia changing the dress because he wanted to give her the credit, and also that Fernando said she was 'exceptional' (uniquely special) and that she had changed ALL their lives.

Knowing Isabruja as we do, I think it's safe to say that she would never have been satisfied with anything Fernando could have done to make her happy.

-- He gave her a credit card and she complained about the spending limit.
-- He lectured the kids on showing respect even if they had to fake it. He punished the twins for their pranks with the plastic spider and the blue paint.
-- He allowed himself to be steamrolled when Yolanda moved in uninvited. He should have fought that until they discussed it; instead he gave her a luxurious room and allowed her to furnish it at his expense.
-- He had Ana move out at night, which turned out to have consequences (even if it was a trick on Luz's part, which he doesn't realize).
-- He didn't fight with her at the party when she insisted on Ana being excluded from a family photo.

The only things that would satisfy Isabruja:

-- Fernando having unlimited money for her to spend in any way that suits her ego
-- Fernando's children to disappear completely (by whatever means possible, including death).
-- Fernando being madly in love with her (which Eros did not decree and cannot be dictated by her).

I'm sure there are a few other impossibles to add to that list.

UA,

Thanks so much for another fine recap. I love the title. We certainly have been building up to the ball and now, on to the next crisis and plenty are abrewing.

I think we really don't yet know about Yolanda's relationship to Ana. She looks so guilty when the topic comes up and there has definitely been a bit of sobering up on her part lately. I am going to take her for her word for the moment and watch in horror as the brujas try to decieve Ana. Fortunately we have Diego the Detective at work at the same time.

There is still the matter of Fernando finding out about Ana's night job. Can't imagine that he would care after all is said and done but it will cause some drama.

Is there anything that happens in this family that the entire crew DOESN'T know? Fernando begins to talk about the surragacy right in front of the kids. Boundaries, anyone???

Mati, thanks for reminding us about the fact that Fer still does not know about Ana's night job: a real possible game changer always lurking in the background.

Jarifa

I don't think Yolanda's older daughter was stillborn. I think Yolanda told that to Isabela to stop her screeching. I think Yolanda's older daughter is still alive.

I don't think Isabela wants Fernando to love her. She says she does, but I don't think she really does. She wants Fernando to kiss and blow smoke up her @$$. She doesn't like anything about Fernando. She doesn't like his kids, doesn't like his ways and I don't think she really likes him as a person and never did.

Isabela's father probably blew smoke up Isabela's @$$ all her life. Yolanda probably taught Isabela to hate poor lower class people to hide the fact that she's from that background herself. They always say the most royal of the royal family members are not the ones who were born into the royal family, but the ones who married into it.

awesome again UA.

I didn't believe Yomama was Ana's mama and glad she is not but how clever Isabela is to use that to her advantage.

Reina as a rebound for Leon right when Fanny seemed non pulsed with Ana about losing him.

How angry Fernando was when Diego came to pick up Ana, especially when Diego gave Fernando a bro smack on the stomach on the way out, thought he was gonna blow but no one saw.

I'm still very nervous about the Ricky come on with Fanny. Yes, she got it, and thankful she told Ana but I don't think she is out of the woods yet. She respects and looks up to the guy and what happens if she thinks Leon is moving on with Reina. Yuck.

Tofie, I did catch Fernando's reaction to Ana setting up that picnic for Diego and Diego tapping him on his way out 'ciao bro!' ... Yes, Fernanod was about to implode right then and there... but then he refocused on his kids...

Jarifa, thanks for the heads up on Jane the Virgin... i might need to wait until later in the week to catch it.. hopefully he is still on.

Thank you for the great recap!

Reeky is disgusting.
Isa is Ms. Satan.
And based on the previews,
Yomama is dead to me.

Isa's big beef is that she expected Fer to acknowledge her as the "Lady of the House'. Which in her terms meant the house, the processes and all within in it were under her rules and jurisdiction. She could boss the help around as she saw fit ( and her mother the same), and the children were to follow her rules, which I would sum up as the old adage of "children should be seen but not heard." She sees herself as a grande dame, not a wife or mother. Sorry, Isa, 21st century you know.

tofie, your comment kind of made me nervous too on Eeky and Fanny. hadn't thought about things from that perspective. Let's hope Leon puts a stop to multi-color hair girl on the romance front.I couldn't even stand watching Eeky getting all close and gropey with Fanny on the dance floor. I really couldn't take anything that even remotely ramps that up.

Daisynjay

Yes, Daisy, Fanny was telling Ana that she did not want to add to the stress her dad has been on lately by raising flags to him about Reeky... so i am worried too that she will let Reeky go farther before she screams for help... hopefully at that time Leon or Ana will be around and help or run for help.

btw, Daisy, great summary on Isa's beef... and her expectations of Fernando...

Thanks, UA. I don't know how you manage to do all those screenshots, but they are excellent captures. And video selections, too! And also excellent telling of the story with very entertaining musings from the gods.

SO GLAD Fanny finally picked up what Reeky is putting down and got the heck out of there and talked to Ana about it. Now I wish she would stop respecting Enfrique and thinking he's a good person. Pay attention, Fanny! Remember how rude he's been to Leon? Remember how he coerces you into weird things and probes your personal life? Remember how upset Beatriz was over something involving him? He's not that good a person!

Hissybully is a MONSTER. Even her mother seemed stunned by her total lack of sympathy. Here Yoyo is crying over her dead baby, and Isa is cheering? Yikes. I was hoping that would be the turning point and Yomama would stop enabling her, but alas, it looks like she's going to help make Ana suffer more. I hope the truth comes out quickly. Ana should know better than to trust anything from these two, but since she thinks she has some evidence to confirm it, and she's so desperate to find her mother, she'll be eager to believe without verifying. I hope Diego at least gets a dna test immediately.

I'm sure Isa would sneer not only at the mess in the kitchen, but about Fernando cooking when there should be servants doing that. And also spending time with the kids, because a nanny should do that. She is the worst kind of snob.

Julia, i hope the truth comes out sooner rather than later too... Ana does not deserve a long term suffering the lies of these two. i am sure all the older 4 kids (and even the twins and Luz) will have their ears alert to any suspicious statements from the brujas.

I was hoping that when Fanny came home earlier than everyone else, she would walk past and overhear the conversation! Isa wasn't even trying to be quiet or sneaky since she thought no one else was home. I'm disappointed that Fanny doesn't seem to have heard anything. Her bedroom must be in another wing. I cannot sort out the arrangement of that house at all. The upstairs hallways are kind of a maze.

It seems to be a u-shaped hallway. on one end is Fernando's master bedr... then we probably have Diego's room across the hallway (remember Fernando would come out of his room and was facing Diego's door); you turn left from Fernando's room and turn right at teh corner once and Ana's room is to the left in front of Fanny's... I think YoMama's room is on same hallway space as Ana's across the halway and down a little from Ana's door (when Ana heard the music she had to go left then the door to Yola's room was on her right. Down the hall from Fanny's, on the same side is Nando's and you turn again to the right and you end up in the girls room on the left and the boys on the right... that is my best guess... but not sure where Nico's room is.
So i see a U shape where the top right is Fernando's master across Diego's and probably Nico's, the top left is the young girls and boys room and Ana's, YoMama's, Fanny's and Nando's are in the curve side of the U.

Julia, i was thinking exactly the same. They cut to Fanny coming in right when Isa got to YoMama's room and was trying to wake her up, so i was thinking the same as you, that Fanny could hear some of that argument, since Isa was clearly loud enough for anyone in the bedrooms to hear...

I also was so hoping that Fanny would overhear something. These two brujas have a hell of a Karmageddon waiting for them.

I personally choose Poverty and Homelessness for both of them.

Why was Reina in Leon's room late at night, and then in their kitchen? Does she actually live with Margarita? I had thought she was a neighbor in a different apartment.

So did I. However, I think she got close to Margarita and now sees a path to Leon.

Reina said she was waiting, first because he was married and then because he was involved with Fanny before telling him how she felt. She was ostensibly there to help with the child but didn't know that meant sleeping at the apartment. I think Reina cute (not Fanny beautiful) but she has know him since they were kids and doesn't mind he has a child.

Urban:
Thanks again for a delightfully told recap. The "Dirty Dancing" reference brought back wonderful memories for me.
I especially liked Diego the Detective!

add me to those who were wondering why Reina heard and ran to Leon's room when Mau woke up screaming... she was there when we first see Leon's neighboorhood when he first brought Fanny... but i had no idea she lived with Margarita.

I don't think Reina lives permanently with Leon and Margarita, but is staying temporarily to help out while Mauricio transitions from the death of his Mom, Tamara.

Thanks for another reliably excellent, entertaining, and fully illustrated recap and collaboration with the Greek deities. Well done.

And well done to the writers in misleading me about Yolanda's motherhood (at least for the moment anyway). I'm weakly holding out hope for a reverse double cross by the cagey Yolanda (she does wear cherry red nail polish).

Good for Fanny. She seemed truly iked by Enrique. But I don't see him giving up easily and can even picture him becoming violent after watching his scenes with daddy.

All the previous talk about the writers bumping off Diego has me getting nervous every time he hops on his cycle.

Where have we seen Reina before? I think that she is cute as a bug.

Carlos

How many women wear the same nail polish color for three decades?

Reina was in the early scenes in this neighborhood. She was in on Leon's "secret" and there definitely was a hint that they go back some time.

He seems clueless about her feelings, though, and I think he still has it bad for Fanny.

UA,

Yes, I remember that, but I'm pretty sure I've seen her in a previous TN.

Carlos

According to the Google, she played Minerva in PEAM. Her name is Yhoana Marell. Picture her in white elbow gloves...

Since we've discussed Mexican-man misogyny before, I paste the link to an interesting NPR article:

http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2014/10/14/356111652/survey-latin-america-ranks-last-in-respect-for-women

Julia,

Minerva, the nurse/nanny in PEAM, thanks, that's it.

Carlos

That's a small sample, so I'm not inclined to trust it. Also, from what I know about the Middle East and Africa, women are not respected there at all. Just look up "FGM" if you doubt that.

The US doesn't have such a great track record either, but that's another topic for another forum.

EB, I read the article rather quickly so I'm unsure exactly who comprised the sample population: if women, then the results would be rendered totally useless, to me, because one would suspect that Middle Eastern amd Muslim women would not answer all that truthfully since they've been indoctrinated from an early age (birth) to believe their place in life is what the male population says it is.
