Caray, Caray!

Mea culpa! Sara had work stuff and I was supposed to put up a discussion post last night, but I got derailed by an audition, a rehearsal, and working the election. I've been going non-stop since Monday morning at 9 am. I'm just about to watch Monday and Tuesday's episodes now.
 

I can't say much for lack of Spanish, will wait for some comments to pop up.

I only half paid attention last night. I can't really remember anyting earth shattering that happened.

Chubby Meatball still says he's marrying Esme.

Leti is squirming--that's a good sign (seriously, it felt like a repeat of a scene from Monday.)

Mariano told Esme she should marry him if anyone. Esme remembered Jarocha saying Mariano loved Esme.

Carlos moved Virginia to the dump.

Augie was forcibly moved to rehab. He looked pretty pitiful last night.

I'm sure there was more...
 

One interesting but frustrating thing was that Esme twice asked Silencio directly "¿quién es usted? He replied with that same BS response that he has to first clear his name. I'm sure that when he finally do tell her she's going to dislike him for awhile. It'll serve him right!!
 

Esmeralda told Mariano she didn't consider seriously marrying Meatball.

The biggest shocker of the night was Augie has been faking it. After they carted him off to the rehap and sitting through a few meetings he is sitting at a juice bar and massaging his face and moving his right arm. He said since his family doesn't care he will take care of himself. Clever on his part.

I am sick and tired of being sick and tired of Fernando the coward squirming out of telling Esmeralda he is her father, however she seems to have come to the conclusion he is and told Jarocha who blurted out yes but quickly back tracked.

Pablo tried to get Mariano to admit he was in love with Esmeralda.

Ines is planning on using her new neighbor Virginia to get at the riches in her parents abode.

 

Question ... How did Virginia get away from home in order to be with Carlos? I must've fallen asleep because the last I remember she was at home enduring Lorenza's wrath.

tofie-I got the impression that Augie was just regaining feeling/use of his arm and eye. Again, I half paid attention. Maybe he has been faking. Ass.
 

Sue NY-I think she just ran away with the help of Carlos.

Tofie, Sara: I was blinking in amazement as Augie sat drinking his juice and rubbing his *now open* right eye. I didn't think about the fact he might have been faking. Also, when people suffer a stroke and recover, do they recover use of their muscles (facial and otherwise)? Ah well, he looked pretty happy with that fruit concoction he was sipping.

BTW what is it going to take for El Sil to tell Esme she is his daughter? She is practically begging him for the truth, just SPILL IT, Pop!


 

Don't know maybe he wasn't faking it the whole time, I just made that leap. At first I though he just rubbing the eye and forgot to continue to pretend for the camera but then he opened wide, massaged his face a little and snap our dear ole Augie. He seemed to be ok at the next meeting, though he was still in the chair, and I thought he should still be play acting a stroke victim but seemed not to care.


 

Thanks Sara. Another question: Did I hear Carlos say to Virginia "when you become 18"? I didn't think she was that young. If so, that may be the reason Lorenza wants Carlos jailed.

Wonder what is the point of keeping Carlos's face dirty? It's like the writers want to stress the point that she was humble enough to fall in love with someone from the slums. But it's an insult to Carlos that the writers keep him dirty. He's got to be at least 18 or 19 and any young man that age no matter his background would clean up before going out on a date. If it is in the script for Virginia to regain her sight, I hope Carlos has cleaned up by that time.
 

"when you become 18" Sue, he did and I was shocked. Pierre Louis looked so good in De Quero, Te Quero, Te Quero, don't understand why they are doing this. Everyone else in the dump now seems to at least wash their face.
 

So what's with the rehab? If Augie
passes rehab then is the trial full speed ahead?

I was wondering why Ines was so nice so fast, now I know. It wasn't from a new heart.

big g, it was anticipated rehab would buy him a few months, time he wanted Mariano to fabricate and/or destroy evidence and pay folks off. His refusal prompted our darling Lorenza to cozy up to Esmeralda via her grand kids. But you are correct when Augie is discharged to court he goes.
 

I just finished watching the episode..."I'm so glad you're better. Let's be friends, honey. I think your uncle is in love with your mom." Um, Pablo, the kid just got over pneumonia. Maybe we can save confidences like that until later. Like next week. Or maybe NEVER!
 

I also had the impression that the writers were trying to convey that drying out and getting some physical and psycho-emotional therapy was helping Augie. Plus, the Drs. did say that the once injury done to his brain from the "vascular accident" abated Augie could regain some function and the paralysis could resolve. Remember, this is the wondrous medical system that could tell a person is depressed from a mri!

I wonder who decides what shows go on at what time cause Quiero Amarte is MUCH better than this. Never fear, though, I'm on the team and I'm going to take this as a lesson in patience!

That said, I really would like to knock Fernando, Pablo and Meatballs heads together like Moe used to do! While I'm at it, how about lining up Rita, Lowrenza and Ines for a triple-slap also a-la-Moe!

Let's just push Garabato in front of a garbage truck!

Lila-I wouldn't blame them. And at this point, if Ines succeeds and robs the house, I'm not going to feel sorry for them either. Especially now that Virginia's not there to get hurt by it.

As for Virginia's age...do you think she's waaay younger than 18 or she's maybe turning 18 soon?
 

sue and tofie, re: the dirty faces...we were re-watching (for about the millionth time) the Harry Potter movies and the soot-stained faces of Harry and the Weasley's after traveling via the Floo Network reminded me of this show. Maybe that explains how the dump residents are able to get around so fast, too...hmmm....
 

I got the feeling that Virginia is just about to turn 18, but I was bummed to hear she's not of legal age yet, because Low can basically do whatever she wants to her and Carlos.
 

I can't even comment about the dirty faces-- dirty faces when they go on dates; dirty hands and faces when they eat; dirty faces in church. It is so insulting to the poor, who may get dirty working/scavenging, but have enough pride to be clean when they can and in the right circumstances. Do they really think Carlos would wear the dirtiest, holiest of his shirts on a date with his lady love?
 

Eli, Quiero Amarte comes on at 3 pm EST. It's very good: lots of skilled, veteran actors, a story with lots of layers and interesting secondary stories. . .I'm enjoying it.

Virginia must be just under 18, for real.

And yeah, the dirty face thing. I notice if his face is clean, then he's wearing a dirty, holey shirt. If the shirt is clean and whole, his face is dirty.

As I said weeks ago, I think they want to keep him looking as wretched as possible to emphasize the impossibility and impropriety of this love story and how deserving he is of. . probably death. Not saying this is my view, I think this is how they're framing it.
