La Gata #64 11/28/14 La Maldad

La moral, la conciencia y la vergüenza
Mariano thanks El Sil again for helping him. El Sil thinks if Mariano was about to commit an offense, he had his reasons, but he also had the strength to stop himself. Morality and conscience has made Mariano a good person. When Mariano asks about shame, El Sil tells him to never forget it since it can keep a person from committing the same offense twice (which he phrases as "tropezar con la misma piedra"--tripping over the same stone. A classic TN phrase.)

La Chachetada
Gisela is happy about Eseme's misfortunes since Esme stole something that was hers (delusional much?),but Jarocha comes in and punches the posole out of her. Apparently after the last wallop, Jarocha was told if she causes such a scene again (hacer pancho), they would prohibit her from visiting Esme. So Jarocha says she'll keep the beating quiet this time. The only thing I thought that could have vaguely made Maite genuinely laugh was Jarocha's quip about making Gisela's face into a rompecabezas and that she was an old hag (vieja...which probably was meant more like "what a bitch.")

La Firma
Mariano and El Sil discuss justice. Fer claims he is wanting justice from the case against Augie. Not revenge. They talk about Damian a bit and how proud Fer is of him. They segue into the scholarships. Mariano explains that Fer needs to get the scholarship papers signed in the presence of a notary. I don't even know why they bothered with that line since a nano-second later, Fer is signing four blank pieces of paper and a notary is hardly mentioned again.

La Visita
Pablo and Esme actually talk a little sense. He can't believe she was just going to hand him over to Gisela. Does she not remember that he's a guy with free will? Esme agrees she was being stupid. She just hates the thought of Pablo being stuck with her in her paralytic state. They talk about the babies. Esme misses them. Pablo tells her to close her eyes. Jarocha and Fer enter with Pablito and Leti.

La Pureza
Mariano remembers his philosophic conversation with Fer about conscience and morality. He thinks again of Esme. He was just about to do something horrible and sully himself (thinking of the near sex experience with Gisela), but he stopped himself. He want to remain pure for Esme, and not dirty himself with Gisela's rotting soul.

La Beca
The scholarships are awarded to Carrrlos, Maria, Garato and Tony. The other two guys are pissed and think Garabato got it because of Ines. Tony thinks they should all sleep with one eye open because those other guys might want to take out their anger on them. Mariano asks for Garabato's real name and is told it's "Garabato."

La Despedida
The babies have to go home and Esme is sad. Pablo wonders if he did the right thing bringing the babies. Esme assures him he did. They are her motor, her strength. She moans about how quickly things went downhill. Pablo says she will walk again. Esme says the person who caused the accident has no idea how much they've hurt her.

La Reina de Roma
Meanwhile, Gisela monologues. Who does Esme thinks she is? Giving her "permission" to have Pablo? As if Esme could make decisions about Gisela and Pablo's lives. What Pablo needs is a REAL woman, healthy and passionate. Low arrives for a visit. Gisela tells her Pablo will finally be free!! Low tells her not to get her hopes up. Pablo will never leave Esme. Gisela disagrees. Mark her words. Pablo will be hers and happy!!

La Confesión
Meche tells Jarocha that she's been letting Low see the babies on the sly.

La explicación
Mariano tries to explain to Augie that Augie lost because he didn't really know his enemy. Fer is not dangerous like he thinks. On the contrary, El Sil is a very trustworthy guy. Why just this morning he signed blank papers for him to take to the notaría (the notary. So I think we really are talking about a notary. Is there something I'm missing about Mexican notaries?? Can you really just bring in a signed piece of paper and add anything you want?) Oh, Dorila was skulking during the conversation. She knows about the papers.

Mariano and Augie continue the argument in the bedroom. Augie believes Mariano is working against him. Mariano desperately tries to get his father to forget his pride. All El Sil wants is to clear his name. He wants to be able to "saludar" (greet)his child and grandchildren (Really made more sense and sounded better in Spanish.)

When he comes out, Low is with Dorila. Mariano tells her he's tired of his father's stubbornness. He's starting not to care what happens to the old guy. He leaves.

When he gets back to his office, he discovers one of the signed papers is missing.

OT: Offspring agrees that Mariano is a cutie. She understands why we all have a crush on him. One more person fighting over him!!

La mentira
Pablo confronts Mariano about the "rape" of Gisela. Mariano is aghast and Pablo thinks he's just faking. Mariano tells Pablo that Gisela is sick and just wants to drive a wedge between the two brothers. If he were to say something awful about Gisela, Pablo would doubt him. He's not going to make any accusations until he has proof. Pablo wants to know what he needs proof of. Mariano just cryptically says "that she's the worst kind of human." He swears he did not do anything to hurt Gisela and he doesn't want to discuss it with Pablo any more.

La Paternidad
Esme thinks of things that would make her happy, but they aren't meant to be. Fer asks what she means by that. She asks Fer what would have become of her and the babies if it hadn't been for him, and he wonders what would have become of HIM if he hadn't met HER. Esme says she so often wants to call him "dad" and to call Fela "mom". He tells her she should, but Esme claims she does not have that right. He reminds her he told her she could. She thanks him but declines the offer. She calls him El Silencioso and he asks her not to call him that. She doesn't want to hurt him. She really wishes he was her father, but he's not. She promises that when her dad does show up, she'll still love Fer just as much. He won that right.

At home Fer and Fela talk about Esme. She is still lobbying for telling Esme the truth. Fer just wants to wait until the court case is over and his name is cleared (how long has this case been going on? Wow, the lawyers are racking up some huge hourly fees.) Esme needs a family and happiness more than a clean name. Fer tells Fela that Esme asked for a huge favor.

La Estupidez
Esme asked Fer to take her on a trip. Just her, Fer and Fela. She asks Pablo to please forget her while she's gone. Even Pablo is getting weary. "Didn't we just discuss this yesterday?" He asks. Esme says it was stupid to throw him at Gisela, but she's still in the same frame of mind. She doesn't want him suffering at her side. He resists. She says she won't return from the trip and he reminds her she has two children. Does she plan on abandoning them?

La Acusación Parte 1
Mariano retraces his steps and remembers that from Fer's he went to his parents' apartment. He heads over there and accuses Augie of stealing the paper. He demands Augie return the paper. Augie denies it.

The argument continues after the commercial break. Mariano says he will have to go to the police and press charges for hurto (robbery; looting; pilfering; larceny.) If Augie doesn't return the paper Mariano may end up on the street....but Augie will end up in jail!!!

La interrupción
We interrupt this recap for the playing of the RPC (Recapper's Privilege Card.)

Esme and Pablo have one of those "we can't be together, but I luuuuurve you conversations." She insists on kicking Pablo to the curb and he insists on sticking around.

La Acusación Parte 2
Low asks why Mariano thinks Augie would want the paper. Mariano tells her so Augie can do what he wants to compromise El Sil. Low may not think Mariano is capable of accusing his dad, but he is!! Mariano asks his dad again to return the paper. If Augie dares to try and use it, he will go to jail. Mariano says he'll come back in the afternoon. That should give Augie enough time to think.

Mariano goes to visit Pablo and tells him about the paper and Augie taking it. El Sil may be in trouble. Pablo doesn't see how Augie had a chance to steal it if Mariano was with him the whole time.

La Operación
The doctor tells Eseme Pablo is being released the next day. He and Fer excuse themselves to go talk about Esme's operation and Esme tells them they can hang on! She's tired of being left out of the loop! The doctor explains that they have to make a call to Dr. Cisneros, but Fer promises to tell Esme everything. When they leave, Esme confesses to Jarocha that she is scared. She wants to much for the operation to be a success. She wants to walk though life with Pablo (wishy washy much?) but only literally. NO figurative walking for her, by gum!! Jarocha tells her to have faith.

La llamada
El Sil talks to Dr. Cisneros. The Doctor in Mexico says the success of the operation has more to do with luck than money. Fer tells him that Dr. Cisnero says the chance for success is slim, but Fer has to take that chance.

La Confesión
Low confesses to Augie that she was the one who stole the papers. She wanted him to have a chance to recover himself. And this is one of those times that it is just so hard to capture what happened on screen...

Low tried to change, God knows she did, but she couldn't (It's like they knew Viewerville was NOT buying what she was shoveling.) She tried to change for Pablo, for her children. Their happiness as a family was at stake. Did he think she wasn't suffering watching him sink lower into his bitterness, living in this damn cuchitril not being able to breathe because the grubby neighbors would hear.....

Augie's eyes light up and he smiles. He thought he had lost her. He hugs her.

Low continues telling him that she was ready to concede that Pablo and Esme were in love and wouldn't give each other up, but then Gisela arrived. She was one of their class. Low had agreed to help her. Augie off topically asks about the grandchildren. Low has come to love them and she wants them for herself. She explains how she stole the paper and there is a flash back. Dorila blabbed and Low just took the paper from Mariano's briefcase.

Augie thinks El Sil and Mariano are dumbasses (estúpidos.) He smiles evilly. Augie is back like he was before and he's ready to kick butt!!

Random Vocabulary
None of which are particularly idiomy or slangy, but they struck my fancy.

prórroga-Extension; postponement; deferral. Mariano thanks El Sil for the extension in his father's case. Synonym: aplazamiento. Mariano explains to his dad that Fer asked for an aplazamiento since Mariano didn't make the court date.

cabal-thorough, comprehensive; upright, honest. Right before he signs the four blank pieces of paper, El Sil tells Mariano he's shown himself to be an "abogado cabal."

digilencia-errand, job; Mariano can't immediately go to Pablo in the hospital because he's doing some errands for work.

lisiado(a)-disabled, crippled; Gisela talks to herself and calls Esme (among other things) a damn cripple.

adivino/adivina-fortune teller. Low tells Mariano she doesn't need to be a fortune teller to know he and his dad were arguing.

escatimar-to pinch pennies; scrimp; economize. Fer tells the doctor he will not scrimp on Esme's medical care.

Thank you in advance, Sara. It's been a beautiful Turkey Day and day after. I don't think I want to go to bed on an episode so named. Yesterday was bad enough! See you in the morning. Thanks!!

Maybe I was a bit hyperbolic with my title, but I'm not liking where Low was going with her lines at the end. The avances didn't help, either.

Gracias, Sara!

So...just to be clear...we're hitting the reset button on the whole show? Only now with babies? Where is this mess heading?!

I had hope when Esme first said "Wow, how stupid was I, trying to give you away to Gisela," then five minutes later we're back to the same old crap.

Thanks for the early rundown Sara.

Wow! a round winning slap from Jarocha to Gisela. I would have liked a few more rounds. A 15 rounder ending with a knockout to Gisela would have been nice. Did Uni cut that scene short?

So Lowrenza and Augie are back to their old selves. Give Augie a drink or a bottle and he will screw it up. David do you have any of that strong stuff left over after the holiday this week?

So we have an operation for Esme coming soon. I wonder if the next hospital will have better security
the gringo

thanks Sara.

Maite is so cute when she smiles and laughs. Esmeralda couldn't contain her glee when Jarocha attacked Gisela again in the hospital room and did her victory jig.

I'm just getting caught up. Family duties interfered with my participating in the discussion for the past few days, so thanks to 5ft and Lila for your wonderful efforts on the miercoles and jueves episodes, and Sara this is a great start to yesterday's goings on.

I too loved that haymaker that Jarocha laid on Gisela. That girl is going down, and that slap was just a minor installment on the final take-down.

Gringo, I put a gift basket of some very pungent bourbon balls in the hallway outside Augie and Lorenza's apartment with a gift card saying, "To Augie with admiration for your life's work. Blanca." I'm hoping to get him back on the sauce slowly.

I don't understand how a pre-signed, blank document could be notarized. I thought the whole deal with notaries was that they were stating that the signer was who they say they are, and that they signed the document in front of the notary.

And now the grandkids are in danger? I don't like even kidding about doing evil to grandkids. If Lorenza does something like this there will be no punishment/carma low enough for her and Augie.

David

Oh Sara! This is going to be good! I just watched the first minute and was rewarded with seeing Jarocha slap the $hit out of Gisela and throw her out of Esme's room!! You know what? As Jarocha was carrying on and snapping her fingers about how she wanted to break Gisela's face, Esme started laughing and I think it was the Maite laughing. . .it looked too genuine and didn't really fit what happened. Replay!!

No, your title is not hyperbolic and I didn't mean to imply that. It's just this silly show kept me awake the other night.

Ok, back to the show!

Sara, thaaaank yoooou! These points really are sufficient my dear! Excellent!

I don't understand how a pre-signed, blank document could be notarized. I thought the whole deal with notaries was that they were stating that the signer was who they say they are, and that they signed the document in front of the notary.

Yah, David! Further, re the discussion with the Dr., El Sil has no right to discuss anything about Esme's care in private. She is an adult and responsible for her own care, even if he is paying for it! Why could they not wheel her into the office or talk on the cell phone there in her room?

Oh. Wait a minute. Both these points are logical. Sorry I lost my head.

Yes, Esme, you've been together/apart, together/apart but that's not the problem, that's the symptom. The problem with these dunder-head's relationship is THEY DON'T TALK TO EACH OTHER!! and the idiots haven't figured it out yet! It's that simple! Frickin' talk to each other!

So, I didn't quite get it, what does Esme propose to do about the babies while she gives Pablo to crazy/criminal Gisela?

Later!

Why is Gisela obsessed with Pablo ?

Since it has been mentioned - I think Maite's smile and laughter were very genuine. Makes me wonder if Leticia Perdigón ad libbed her lines and made Maite laugh. I will pay close attention when I watch it again.

Steve- I think the only explanation for Gisela's obsession is that she is BSCC. (Bat Sh!t Cray Cray)

David- I wondered the same about signatures and notaries. It's another thing I'll pay close attention to.

Firstly, because the "writer" is unimaginative and wanted an obstacle to throw in Pablo and Esme's path.

Within the bounds of the "story" Gisela is a crazed, self-medicating, sexual predator who preys on young, virile, starving artists and Pablo's the next notch on her bed post.

I just thought of something. Why in the heck didn't Esme realize her mistake when she saw Gisela revert back to being verbally abusive and cruel after that pitiful attempt at empathy she showed. Hell, why did she fall for it at all after that not so passive-aggressive showing her those athletically toned brides and saying, "oh, you'd have to work out to look like that!"

gringo. Can you imagine how much more beautiful Esme would be if she only had a brain?

I think Maite's laughter was genuine and tried her best to make it look part of the script. Wished they did more of this and let the actors fly.

These kids speak to each other but never discuss or plan for anything. Their interactions are a series of I luv you, no, I luv you more, no, I luv you moster, no, I luv you mostest moster, well then, I luv you bunches mostest moster and I'm moster sorriee, no you can't be, I'm bunches moster sorriee, ok, get the hell away from me then. I swear there is more substantive dialog between the twins. If I hear Danny and his weepy mi amor again I'll scream.

Thanks, Sara.

I predict Jarocha's slap will win the best TN smack of the year.

ITA with the Gisela is BSCC theory. I'm wondering about the pills she takes. Were they prescribed, meaning she's been in treatment?

Pablo, if you believe Mariano is telling the truth that Gisela made up that story, wouldn't that tell even you that Gisela is BSCC?

Esme is suffering from incompetence: just like Isabel of PSMA & Blanca of La Impostora did.

Steve, I like the way you worded it. I'm not familiar with La Impostora, but I remember Isabel and neither she nor Esme "are" incompetent...it's like they picked up the incompetence virus somewhere along the way. It bugs (ha!) me. It's a bait-and-switch "look we're giving you a feisty, intelligent protagonista, isn't that refreshing...haha, just kidding!"

Jarocha smacking Gisela around really was one of the best things about both today's and yesterday's episodes. Especially after she already did it once, and then Gisela came back again. I probably would have been laughing too.

tofie, in my wild TN fantasies, someone interrupts all the meaningless luuuuuuuuurve talk and asks them all the practical questions. Like who's going to watch the babies, where are they going to live during Esme's recovery, after her recovery, whether they really need to wait to have a big wedding or whether they should maybe just get married now, how to handle the inevitable in-law problems that are going to crop up....

Blanca on La Impostora was a poor girl that fancied herself a master of disguises, blinded by love of a rich kid (I mean almost anyone she ran to for help or would trick into helping ended up dead or their relationship ruined) but the actress (Lisette Morelos) was/is god awful, I mean the girl had one look and used it for everything and she couldn't walk in heels. Always like she was going to pitch forward every step. In that one her best performance was after being shot and in a deep coma. I've seen her is other shows and same deer in the headlight look, same walk and monotone delivery.

Come to think of it perhaps Lisette and Daniel should play love interest.

Tofie, wow ! I take it you're not a fan of Lisette Morelos.

I second Tofie's opinion of Lisette Morelos in La Impostora(plus Lisette had the absolute worst, most ghastly wardrobe, remember Tofie?).

Of course we also had Christiane Bach in that one, with her werewolf hair---it was a toss-up who was harder to watch.

IMHO.

J in O

Ah! Memories of La Impostora! Can you believe TV y Novelas put it in the top 5 for 2014?

What? How in the hell did that make the top 5? It was better than this one and thankfully short, but.

Yep, JnO her wardrobe was cheap curtain couture and that green handbag, yuck. We had a field day trashing the costuming. Miss it.

Steve, it was a good thing Lisette played opposite Christiane Bach's newcomer actor son, who bless his cute heart couldn't act either. She's got big boobs, that's it.

Gisela's bedpost list ? She's a sex addict for sure.

Tofie, I assume you thought the sex scenes between Lisette & Sebastian were terrible on La Impostora.

Yes, Steve. Sebastián Zurita is a kid to me, cute but not hot at all but I can see why a guy would think Lisette pretty, my hubby did.

My wife, Alicia would agree with you.

Loved your recap, Sara.

I'm wondering if the babies are really fraternal twins, the girl looks a bit older than the boy, though both are adorable. And I wish they would take that hat off the baby boy.

Ann-NYC

Part one is up!!
Offspring leaves at 2 today, so we are heading for lunch. I may not be able to finish until later tonight. Hubs wants to watch some football.

Sorry about the delay.

thanks Sara

"near sex experience"

Is anyone else's formatting wonky? I've got bits of recap strewn all over. It might be just me.

Sara, gracias! Thank you for confirming the things I thought I heard/understood that I thought I might have been misunderstanding because they made no sense!

"and a notary is hardly mentioned again" Yeah, that's about what I thought. I'm wondering how much an un-notarized signature would really be able to get anyone. Oh, no, or is this a case of "notario" not meaning notary, but more like a junior lawyer? As in, he signed the papers in front of Mariano, so that's good enough? In which case, Mariano can just tell a judge or whoever that yes, that IS El Sil's signature, but the paper was stolen, yadda, yadda...in which case, why is this even a big deal except for having to TELL El Sil that he lost one/had it stolen. Ok, why am I thinking about this like it's going to make sense anyway?

"He can't believe she was just going to hand him over to Gisela. Does she not remember that he's a guy with free will?" Yeah, dude, hold on to the feeling of finding that charming.

"near sex experience" Hahahahahahahaha! Don't walk into the light, Mariano! I hear when people have those, they end up with a greater appreciation of celibacy.

I did feel bad for Garabato, being so alone in this world he doesn't even know what his name is. I suppose that would make life difficult, assuming he was planning on living a life and not just getting his stupid ass busted doing Ines' bidding.

"Low tells her not to get her hopes up. Pablo will never leave Esme." That confused me. I thought Lorenza decided to be evil again. Now she's being evil, just not verbally abusive? She didn't even bother calling her "maldita gata." And she still seems to be feeling the effects of getting hit with the naive stick..."Oh, Gisela, you're so funny, sometimes I just don't understand you!" Seems her conversation with Monica was completely forgotten.

wonky for me too.

I think Lorenza is resigned to not being able to pull Pablo & Esmeralda apart but she has bonded with the Hipster babe & Esmeralda Jr. and wants to take them.

Yeah, I've seen bits of recap everywhere, too. Being the paranoid person that I am, I wondered if is was something with my recap. I've gone back and tried to remove a bunch of my "bold" text and left it just to the headings. I know the blog mom has said that when there is too much formatting, it causes problems.

As for Low saying Pabs will never leave Esme...that was BEFORE she found out about the blank paper with the signature. Maybe that paper set off her evil streak again.

Thanks for the note about "notario".

Sara, that took care of the wonky

Yeah. I keep forgetting to write the post in the "HTML" box and then when I switch to it, things are screwed up. I don't know why it should affect the side bar and stuff (that's where I was seeing some recap.)

Working on the rest of it now.

I don't see why it would either. Gremlins!

jThank you Sara! Wonderful holiday made much better by seeing your recap! (I missed the first 3/4 of the show so am doubly grateful.)

Not liking Lorenza telling Augie she want the grandchildren "just for her". Ooh, bad vibes.

Also, do I detect a hint of redemption for our young Garabato? That would be refreshing...but I think Ines has gone too far beyond the pale with her obvious enjoyment of evildoing.

J in Oregon

Officially done!! Sorry it took so long. I was having attention issues.

J in Oregon-Garabato has killed someone...it was probably manslaughter, but it will be interesting to see where they go with him. I find him far less vile than Ines. He really seems to have some remorse. Ines just gets off on crime.

Goody good.

"(It's like they knew Viewerville was NOT buying what she was shoveling.)" We weren't.

Maybe we'll see Garabato cleaned up now and Ines will need a new playmate in crime.

Yes. I am definitely hoping that the scholarship will be a good thing...even though I think Ines intends to turn it into an opportunity for crime.

You know, with just 57 episodes left there are still so many things I think they need to cover. We get so many useless conversations and there are still so many unanswered questions!

What is the REAL deal with what happened 20+ years ago? I still don't understand what exactly Augie did.

What happened to the guy in the hotel room?

What did Ines and Garabato do with the Cantina guy's body?

While I don't give a hoot about Meatball, his wife knows Fer and I felt like there was a story there.

What's up with Dorila and Carrlos?

What's going on with Carrlos and Virginia?

Did they really bring Marcelo in for TWO episodes?????

Gracias again, Sara!

I really liked that Mariano decided not to say anything without proof. Though, if he had simply not said anything to HER without proof, that would have helped even more.

And, again, when Mariano miscalculates, he REALLY miscalculates...Accusing Augie when he was with him the entire time? Come on, Mariano...who was in the other room with your briefcase? Think!

Lorenza wanting to get her hands on the kids sounds like she wants a do-over at parenting, since she failed with the other three. They all turned out way too decent. And they refuse to hate poor people! The horror!

Thank you Sara! I know it does no good to hope, but I hope we don't have Lo kidnapping the kids, escaping somehow and then getting a "years later" caption and we end up with Leti and Pablito being a couple of evil, spoiled little snots. As coo coo as things have been so far I shouldn't be surprised.

I did catch the sweet Maite smile and laugh after the great Jarocha slap. That was a sweet scene. I'm glad that Uni didn't cut that one.

So who will take care of the babies when Esme goes in for her operation? Will it be Jarocha or the Lo?

What is the blank signature going to be used for?

I remember that two members of the baddie gang were not chosen and they were not happy about it.
What is going to happen to the ones that were chosen? Are they going to start school, maybe a trade school? What's going on there?

I was concerned about what evil tricks Augie will come up with but I have faith that David will keep him under control. Bourbon balls work wonders.

Steve Boudreaux---Why is Gisela obsessed with Pablo? Oh I don't know, maybe it's because he's young and handsome. She wants some of that kinda like the way a guy would be obsessed over a cute blonde.
the gringo

Do you think it's possible that Pablo is the first Promising Young Artist who hasn't been willing to play Gisela's little game and that's why she's so obsessed with him? She did seem to take it VERY badly that Mariano didn't jump in the sack with her...beyond however angry she was that he was accusing her of running Pablo and Esme off the road.

Very possible Gisela is accustom to guys jumping at the chance to further their career and Pablo likely would too but for Esmeralda. She doesn't want him forever, only a while, and on to the next find. Pablo should let her gnaw on him a bit and Esmeralda could have him back.

Ew! Gisela leftovers! I'll pass, thanks!

It's only chew marks & he could be disinfected before handed back.

Gisela is no different than Esmeralda's boss at the call center.

It took me a minute to remember who you were talking about. The gross company owner.

And now I'm missing Esme's ex-immediate supervisor. She was nice. I wonder what happened to her, 'cause if I remember, she was on her way to being fired for not helping the boss sexually harass the employees?
