La Gata #67 - Wed 12/3 - La Ridiculez
Fela is out on the patio with all the ladies of Casa Silencioso, so maybe he was directing it at the back of Esme's head? Esme and Principe would like to know if Esme is Fela and Fernando's bio-daughter. Fela is distracted from answering by a freak-out upon seeing Augie out on the balcony of her old house.
Vero and Omar came to kindly say they're glad to see him doing well…and kick him out on behalf of their new boss. Augie vows he'll be back soon, "hasta pronto."
Jarocha and Esme scoot across the street so Esme can talk to Augie. My money's on Esme. She could totally run him over with the motorized chair. Augie is a total ass to her. "Aunque la mona se vista de seda, mona se queda." (Even if you dress up the monkey in silk, it's still a monkey.) He tells her he's going to send Fer back to jail and her back to "her" dump. He says he'll laugh and she'll finally know what life is like. Uh, 'cause you don't think she already understood that life isn't fair?
Legal strategy talk. Fernando STILL refuses to acknowledge Esme as his daughter, even if it's to save all his worldly goods from falling into Augie's hands by putting it all in her name. Damian and Mariano can't seem to talk him into it, even with Pablo's non-lawyerly help. Esme arrives to tell them about her encounter with Augie and ask QTH is going on and QTH Augie is talking about.
Quick set change to the living room. Pablo attempts to distract Esme from his dad's ranting with pretty, meaningless words. And then he reminds her about his "meeting." She assures him she's not jealous. And she wants a call as soon as his meeting with the Bisquick guy is over.
Fernando insists all he'll do is present the truth at his trial. He's sure that since, this time his lawyers are Mariano and Damian, he'll come out much better than he did last time--when Augie was his lawyer. Also, God is on the side of truth. Yes, Fernando, but historically the Mexican justice system…not so much.
Jarocha and Fela are going shopping. Augie is in stalker mode again. How is he paying for these taxis? He's ready to make Blanca his forever. Greeeeeat.
Damian has calmed down, but still doubts that Mariano didn't give the paper to his dad. And if not…then how did he get it? "Something's missing here." I agree, Damian…a few people are missing brain cells! Fernando comes in to tell the guys that Osorio got them a dinner date with his judge. So they'll just explain the situation to him over dinner. Well, doesn't that sound…unethical.
Jarocha and Fela are doing shopping and Fela offers to hold Jarocha's bags while she visits the ladies'. Some random guy grabs Fela's arm, calls her "Blanca" and asks if she remembers him.
Pablo shows up for his dinner with Gisela. Mr. Bisquick is running late. Pablo is shocked to hear that Gisela is his representative…she has exclusivity in managing his work. Pablo is pissed that she lied to him about the papers he refused to read before signing. So NOW he wants to review the documents. Gisela offers him a summary--ALL his work is hers and has to go through her. But, hey, no worries! Because no one is going to represent him with as much passion as she will. Passion? I don't think that word means what she thinks it means. She brings up how her life is falling apart and she's barely functioning because of "what Mariano did" and how he destroyed her life. So…basic functioning is nearly impossible, but drawing up sneaky contracts is well within her abilities? Just checking.
The guy in the plaid shirt is trying to convince "Blanca" that she's still nuts and he's not really there. Is this some actor Augie hired? Is she really imagining him? Is he someone she knew when she was Fela? Jarocha comes back and finds all the bags, but no Fela. So we don't know if he was real either.
Esme feels a disturbance in the force, but Meche thinks it's just the drugs and she'll feel better once she eats something.
Back to Pablo and Gisela..."If only it had been you, you wouldn't have had to force me!" Oh, gross! I'm tuning her out now unless she says something significant to the plot. Assuming we have a plot anymore, who knows. Shut up, Pablo! Don't tell her she's attractive!
Team Silencioso get to the same restaurant for their date with the judge. Fernando takes a call from Osorio.
Jarocha and the chauffeur can't find Fela anywhere. Beto thinks maybe she went home on her own. Jarocha doubts it, but decides they ought to go home.
Pablo is starting to wonder when Bisquick is showing up. PLEASE STOP TELLING HER SHE'S PRETTY! Now she turns on the full Borderline charm, pouting that he won't kiss her because she's "dirty"…she just wants a kiss to help her feel better, 'cmon.
Osorio will be there in five. Damian and Mariano stare at Gisela grabbing Pablo. I would think it's apparent that he's trying to push her away, but when they change angles, it starts looking like he's participating. Team Silencioso show up and rip Pablo to shreds. It's like Esme has three dads and they ALL hate him. Fernando seriously tells Damian to call and cancel the dinner date with the judge. Mariano warns Pablo to stay away from Esme. Fernando says Pablo is worse than his dad. As they all walk out, Mariano spares a disgusted glance for Gisela. Who is thrilled, because now she and Pablo can be together.
Jarocha reports Fela's loss to Esme. Mercedes is ready to call the cops. She thinks this is their sign that Fela isn't doing as well as they thought.
The kidnapper was real and hired by Augie to drag Fela to a cinderblock shack and drug her up. She wakes up to Augie looking in the glassless window. He brought her a rose…how sweet! NOT! She rips it up and Augie says he doesn't buy that she's crazy. So Fela starts screaming that she's not crazy and she wants out…and now Augie looks appalled, like her screaming is convincing him that she really is crazy.
Speaking of. Pablo accuses Gisela of setting up this whole thing and that there's really no Bisquik! Gisela whines that there really is…and now Pablo has kissed her and is refusing to take responsibility for it! Bisquick shows up, but since Pablo wants to leave, he says they'll just reschedule. Once Pablo is gone, Gisela tells Bisquick Pablo's problem is nothing serious and excuses herself to make a phone call.
Esme can't get a call to go through, but when Jarocha tries to call Fela's phone, the call crosses with Gisela calling the house to brag to Esme that she was kissing Pablo and all of Team Silencioso saw her. Gisela claims Pablo told her that he feels sorry for Esme and trapped with Esme. Esme refuses to believe her, and really, she's got bigger problems, so she hangs up on Gisela. Fernando shows up and asks "Don't tell me you've already heard that Pablo's cheating on you with Gisela?" Does nobody walk into that house anymore without checking out what the situation is before they speak?!
Pablo is beating himself up for being stupid and "letting" Gisela kiss him. Aw, don't do that, Pablo. There's plenty of us who would line up to kick you in the shins so you don't have to do it yourself.
Nobody is actually comforting Esme with their talk about how these things happen and she's young and pretty and she'll find someone else and yeah, Gisela's a witch and Pablo will pay. Fernando brings up "revenge" and Esme tells him to knock that off because she's not into it. She's already ready to brush off Pablo and their relationship and just move on…and oh, by the way, Fela is missing.
Fernando gets Osorio to work on finding Fela. He tells Esme he failed her because he let Fela move around freely as if she were well. The cops won't consider her missing until she's been gone for 48 hours. Mariano reassures him that Osorio's detectives will find her. Mercedes is sure Fela really is doing better and she'll come home on her own. Fernando thinks the man who took Esme…I mean, "our daughter"…might be the one who took Fela. Damian doesn't think it's likely after so many years. Mariano will go out to look on Esme's behalf. She's pissed right now that Pablo isn't around to help and that he cheated on her just when she needed him.
So, Augie thanks Plaid Shirt Guy, Diogenes for doing a great job, just like when he got rid of the girl 20 years ago…wait, so, Diogenes was THE CHIN? He wants to be paid, and NOW, and no, he won't wait for double later. Diogenes threatens his life. Augie goes back to the window and tells Fela she's locked up because he told the guy to kidnap her. She'll stay there until she forgets her husband. He gets angry because she's saying Fernando's name, so Fela obliges by insisting she'll never forget FERNANDO, her HUSBAND and they LOVE each other, and then calling for Fernando repeatedly.
Pablo shows up to try to talk to Esme, but Jarocha won't let him past the front door. My money's on Jarocha if this comes down to a fist fight. He demands his right to "explain," but Jarocha's having none of it. He finally leaves after a pouty "I thought we were friends!"
Tomorrow: Esme cries. Mariano comforts. What do they mean "the beginning of the end"?

It was nice to see Vero and Omar again. I wonder if she's finally given into his charms or if he just chases her around the house all day while she giggles at him.
And we had a Principe sighting...yay!
And now we know who THE CHIN really was, but that still doesn't explain the cloak(s).
I would like to fire Pablo from his job as "galan" as he is in no way fulfilling his obligations as set forth in the job description.
No, the dude's name isn't really Bisquik, but it's more fun for me that way.
IF ONLY Fernando would let go of his idiotic misguided pride, and let Esme know whose daughter she is! She just said she's not into the vengeance and clean name thing.
Gisela and Pablo could make a good couple. They're both totally misguided about themselves.
Yeah, so now Pabs notices he forgot to read the contract? But I didn't have time to read it, he whines. Gisela's overly inflated smile makes me feel a bit queasy.
And, is Fela still a bit odd in the head? She sometimes appears to have the emotional age of a 12-year old.
And, Augie's disgust for his own children...could it be that he found out at some point that he is not really their father? Just a thought.
On the plus side:
Principe sighting--yay!
Lots of face-time with Mariano--yay!

Maybe it was just my TV, but it seemed like in the store D's mouth was moving and it was Augie's voice. I wonder if Fela confuses them in her head and she doesn't know for sure who took the baby. Thus the two chins.
And for the love, just tell Esme already!
I'm all for a Esme/Mariano pairing. They looked good together in the previews and he's a better dresser.
Haven't been around much to comment lately because of busy schedule. Yesterday we got a new grandson, 7# 2oz. Daughter had a C-section, and everything went well.
Your treatment of this episode was wonderful, 5ft. I was particularly taken with Augie's comment that you can dress a monkey in silk, etc, and it occurred to me that one could also say that you can have a thief live in a mansion, but he's still a thief.
I am disappointed with Pablo too. I don't understand why the immaturity has to be displayed so blatantly. Maybe if he had had to mow the grass as a boy he would have gotten some maturity earlier on. I can actually believe that having everything done for you might not be the best way to forge a responsible personality.
J in O, everything about Gisela makes me queasy.
David
David congrats on the new grandson! Glad everybody is fine. I loved your comment about "if Pablo had had to mow the grass as a boy he would have gotten some maturity".
And can somebody explain to me how Dr Hottie can be in love with Esmeralda after being in her presence for a few minutes? and he can't even see her? I thought for sure they were going to throw him Virginia's way.

It is nice here on the patio this a.m. as it is raining in Seattle. It took two hours to get through last nights episode as I had to stop the program a number of times to regroup. I have to comment on how pretty Fela/Blanca looks in blue. and thank you 5 ft Diva for another sparkling and entertaining recap.
Also, I love the "still a thief" anology.
J in O- I feel better now. Sometimes the sound and the visual on my TV mess up, so the mouth doesn't match the words. If you thought you heard Augie' s voice, too I might not have just been my TV.
emeraldrose-I really like the way they are dressing Erika in this.
Thanks you, Diva! So maybe a monkey in silk is still a monkey but a recap of bullshit spun by Diva is a silk thread! So there!
Oh god, this shit is soo stupid! Ok, ok, I've said that. I've moved from coping with this by seeing it as a comedy to realizing it truly is just a cartoon. I would compare it to the Bullwinkle show, especially episodes with Boris Badenov (Auggie) and Natasha (Gisela)but that's an insult to that iconic, hilarious show. Not nearly as much thought or skill went into this mess. Yah, it's just a cartoon and a bad one.
Thanks Diva. You totally rocked this episode!
Lila
Sara: Is it really only 54 more episodes to go? I'm just a lurker here but after watching last night's episode I was prepared to run away from the show completely. But if only 54 episodes than maybe I'll remain a lurker.
I hope you will join our support group. We've got cookies and booze. David and gringo: do we still have our anvil making biz?
Gracias, J! I do think Fela still has some problems. She's clawing her way towards sanity again, but it seems like anything that reminds her of her trauma causes her to slip. I disagree with Fernando that it was too early to treat her like she was fully recovered--to me, the mistake is in not having any kind of security when he knows he has enemies out there. I'm still holding out hope that Virginia has no biological ties to Augie and Lo, just because of Lo's cryptic comments. As for the boys, she does have a marked preference for Pablo over Mariano.
Gracias, Sara! I wonder if Bisquick will stick around. He at least seems like a decent guy, so either he hasn't noticed Gisela's weirdness or she manages to keep it cool when she's conducting business. I thought I heard Augie's voice when we were just seeing the arm.
Gracias, David, and Felicitaciones on your new grandson! I agree, Augie is the thief living in a mansion who is still a thief. Esme is the princess who was dressed in rags and is still a princess. I don't think it's too late for Pablo to get that lawn-mowing job.
Gracias, emeraldrose! She really does look good in everything they've put her in since Fernando found her again. I thought they were going to stick to that royal purple for a while, but they seem to be branching out. It all suits her, though!
Gracias, Lila! Anytime I can spin bullshit into something less smelly, I try! I have to agree with you, even cartoons make more sense than this.
Gracias, Carvivlie! Stick around, we all need the support. Plus, I find it helpful to make sure I actually saw what I thought I saw and that I haven't completely lost my mind.
Sara, of course we are still making anvils out on the patio. We are running a Christmas special where you get a key fob-sized anvil, a shot of tequila and a bourbon ball if you buy a full sized anvil, and shipping is free.
David
Univision Novelas' Facebook page is talking about Esme saying goodbye to Pablo "forever" and I'm like "Oh, shut up! It didn't stick the last twenty times."
functioning is nearly impossible but drawing up a sneaky contract is well within her ability.
I thought that the kidnappers voice sounded a lot like Augie's.
Sara---We have anvils ready to go but new people keep entering the scene--Fella's kidnapper so David and I will get a backup supply ready and yes, there are Christmas sales. The money will be used for education of the garbage dump children.
the gringo
gringo-I am so happy to hear what the money will be used for. I still feel sorry for the guys who DIDN'T get the scholarships. I think they were sincerely hoping to get one. :-(
