La Gata #74 12/12/14 The One Where I Didn't Pay Attention

With credit to Eli for the title inspiration.

  • Garabato has skinny legs and Dan needs a little sun on his legs.
  • Chacharas is a good portero.
  • Who the hell won the beauty contest?
  • Ines is arrested while threatening Esme.
  • Rita gets drunk.
  • Gisela offers to take care of Fela...getting rid of her if necessary. Augie adamantly refuses.
  • Esme decides to live at the Institute of Hot Doctors and Physical Therapists...she's doin' it for Fela and her children! Weigh in folks, I do not get her logic AT ALL. I didn't pay attention, surely Fela would want Esme to f*cking look for her and her children would oh, I don't know...want her at home.
  • The PI rather quickly figures out that the kidnapper is a love obsessed sicko.
  • Fela remembers she has a daughter. Augie promises to take Fela to the girl if she'll remember he's her husband (or something like that.)
  • FREE FELA!!
  • Dr. Blind Hottie asks Esme to join him for dinner after her therapy, earning an anvil sound effect and a cara de say what? from the PT guy.
  • Pablo whines about Esme being at the institute. It's putting distance between them and he loves her too much. Virginia tells him that Esme did what she had to do. Esme is disabled now and she isn't the same. There are things that Pablo just won't be able to understand. Esme practically has to relearn how to be part of society, something Virginia was able to do since she had gone to a school for blind children at a young age (I'm translating the spirit of the line, maybe not the exact words.) Virginia tells Pablo to trust Esme. He whines that it's not about trust...it just sucks not having her there when he wants her. SELFISH!
  • Fer and Jarocha give us another.
  • Whatever I missed, put it in the comments.

Recappers-Have y'all had any issues with blogger this week. Twice now I've gotten a pop up several times during my writing saying there was a problem saving. Then when I go to the list of posts there are always two of mine. One is a draft I have to delete. That and the having to prove I'm not a robot EVERY time I comment is getting annoying. What the hell, bloggger?

Sara, I missed the first half. Show was on two hours early. Thank you so, so, so much for the bullet list recap--always a classic, always in good taste.

I was convinced that Esme's big announcement was that she was going...to a convent. Yep. That would have made for a more thrilling plot line than what we are getting.

I did note the stink-eye that Hottie PT was giving Hottie Doctor when Doctor invited Esme to dinner. Luckily Hottie Doctor can't see his old pal giving him the stink-eye...but Esme saw it I think.

J in Oregon

J in Oregon-Most of the first half was a soccer game and the fair. It was actually more entertaining stuff than what we've been seeing!

Oh, and I love your idea of Esme in the convent. That cute priest could have been overwhelmed by eau de protagonista and left the priesthood. Eventually he would have gotten over it, realized that the priesthood was not for him and end up with Jarocha.

"ended up with Jarocha"

Can someone please tell me what Maria's purpose on the show is? Is she still around?

What beauty contest?

And what PSA announcement did Virginia give?

Love the title of this post, btw.

Wow. I just realized we haven't seen Maria in a while!

The beauty contest was part of the fair. Jarocha, Meche and Rita were three of the five (?) contestants. Oh, maybe you meant where was the beauty? Lol.

I'll have to go back and rewatch to specifically say what Virginia said. The whole thing started with Pablo whining so I tuned out pretty quickly. Now I can't even remember much of what she said.

OMG ... really, Inez? THAT's your big plan? To run up with a gun and try to steal the fair money and kidnap Esme IN FULL VIEW of the whole carnival full of people with cops all around? Then scream and yell, "soy inocente" while the cops are dragging you away? Come on, Latoodle, really???

Thanks Sara.

I saw Maria, though briefly, her hair was down and there was a crowd around.

My imagination had run away with me in contemplation of all the possibilities for bad ass Ines. Not only was this uncharacteristic she was acting like a parody of a parody of a gun moll. Is this not a Saturday morning cartoon? Will there be action figure dolls on the shelf in time for Christmas or can you get your collectors set with a Happy Meal?

Likely a problem for the Augie doll, that cane could poke an eye out.

Will batteries be included with Esmeraldas chair?

Since Rita did so well as a beauty contestant will her doll also include a teeny weeny bikini?

Are the Hottie Doc, Hottie Physical Therapist dolls anatomically correct?

Should more hair be an available option on the Mariano doll?

How will crazy be portrayed for the FeBlanca doll? Eyes that roll around in her head when a nut and fixed when lucid?

I hope Pablo comes as a clown puncher. I want two.

Will the Lorenza doll be on all 4 hooves or upright on 2 and bleat with a pull string?

Thank you, Sara. Your recap gave an order to this episode which the episode itself didn't have much of.

I confess that I am completely disinterested in any type of team sports activities, so the soccer match was a great time for me to use the bathroom and get a beer.

The "beauty contest"? What was that all about? I can't even begin to guess what that was supposed to mean. I would have had Ines, Maria and Virginia for contestants. At least that would have kept Ines out of jail.

Ines' tactical and strategic skills seemed to desert her last night. What an oafish, pre-school attempt.

I think I like Rita better full of tequila than when she's sober.

On the off chance that Hottie PT guy has a scheduling conflict and can't massage Esme's legs, I think gringo or I would probably be able to jump in and help out.

David

Thank you for the great recap! I missed most of the episode.

Tofie: Loved your comment.

I wish the writers would introduce a woman for Mariano to fall in love with. And maybe Monica and hottie doc could fall for each other? Must admit I don't see (no pun intended) what hottie doc sees (pun intended) in Esme. If he could see her he could be mesmerized by her beauty but listening to her ....nothing she has said to him seems swoon worthy. To me he should have fell for Virginia. Shes so sweet and kind.

I'm about to yell -
YES CARVIVLIE I SO AGREE!

Esme hasn't said anything vaguely interesting to him. This must be a literal case of EAU de protagonista because it must be her scent that he likes.

Lol yeah I bet her hair smells really good Sara. She should lend some product to Monica.

damn. this is bout some lame-assed mess I'm tellin' you what.

Of course, all the basurero woccer players were visibly quite dirty and the "beauty" contest was just beyond idiotic.

Ines's assault was so stupid. She should have just gone to the police department and pulled a gun on one of them. As they drag her away she's yelling it's la gata's fault. Always la gata's fault. Stoooooooopid.

"To me he should have fell for Virginia. Shes so sweet and kind."
I second that, Carvivlie!

Ah, what the hell, it's not worth further comment.

Oh, except of course, and pardon my manners, Thank you Sarah!!!

ha! ha! make that soccer players!

I kind of liked woccer. Whack + soccer= woccer.

The thing that frustrates me most about this show is that it is so not conversation worthy. It isn't even the kind of bad that gets tongues wagging.

*sigh*

OK . . I lied! I am going to further comment!

I'm watching the ridiculous scene when Esme announced she was going to move to the Institute where she could be with her own kind! I just cannot find words for the base, insulting idiocy of this "plot point": move to the Institute where there are people like me. Leaving her kids! Seriously, who is this LaToodle-oo! What contempt she has for, like EVERYBODY! Pablo needs to just file for termination of maternal rights and move away with these babies and start over somewhere. This plot device could ONLY have been more offensive if she said she was going to get herself euthanized because that's what needs to happen to "people like her."

The attempts at social and spiritual commentary are laughable.

I really do feel like these people just threw some shit together ripped off from actual quality novelas, jumbled memories of others, their own ignorance and prejudices and whatever the f*ck came to mind each day and said screw these idiots, they'll watch anything while we laugh all the way to el banco!

Sara--thanks for your succinct summary of this lame mess. Tofi, enjoyed your list for the action figures. I shouldn't have any of those, because I would want to burn them and gleefully watch them melt.

Lila, I agree with what you said:
"I really do feel like these people just threw some shit together ripped off from actual quality novelas, jumbled memories of others, their own ignorance and prejudices..."
It's that cut and paste stuff we've been seeing all along.

Not sure which was the most ridiculous--Esme's move to the institute or the beauty contest. Or maybe the clean white socks vs the dirty guys soccer match.

LaPaloma, you've seen more of these than I have, what gives? Have you ever seen one that was so bad everybody just frickin' stopped watching and recapping it?

(Don't worry Diva, I'm hangin' with ya girl!), just curious?

It's reaching CI territory ... and may have even surpassed it in stupidity by now!

As bad as this is I think CI was way worse and we all stuck to the bitter, awful end.

Not all.

I gave up on QBA, I just could not deal with that stupid mess. This might reach CI levels by the time its over, we need another Amor Bravio!

Esmeralda living at the institute and leaving the babies and Pablo is reminiscent of CI & Maricruz wanting to stay in prison. Made no logical sense and no arguing with her. However, I'm ok with Esmeralda getting away from Pablo but she should have suggested the dog whisperer work with him as she rehabilitates. Must get old him jumping up and licking her face when he sees her. Bad habit.

No. Actually I didn't know that there had been some sort of contest. But you're right, where is the beauty in that? Nowhere to be found, that's where! At least, not with these three or five.

Pablo whining again? About what this time? Will he ever stop? And why is it that he always wears the same clothes? I noticed the same with Mariano.

Glad to know that Maria was there. Did she contribute anything to the fair?

What's happened between Virginia and Centavito?

I posted not long ago and my comment is missing. I can't remember everything that I said.

I guess that I will have to try again. What is going on?

gringo-If it makes you feel any better, I did see your comment in my e-mail. I am copying it here because it was so good. (I hope this comment makes it though)

"WOW! I have never seen so mush anger. The patio party must have bombed. David, Didn't you bring enough tequila? Were there no tacos, no cookies? What an angry crowd. You guys sound like you are ready to march on Televisa. Maybe all of the police protests that we have been seeing lately are starting to rev up the Caray crowd. If you guys do decide to march on the Televisa studios, be careful. I hear that the Mexican prisons aren't the near country clubs the American prisons are.

My confession---I am as angry as you guys are but for a different reason. Because of the telethon, I thought that La Gata wouldn't air and when I read in the comments that it actually would, well it was too late, I missed it.
La Gata aired at 4:00PM in Los Angeles. DAMN!!!

You guys can make fun and complain all you want but I would have liked to have seen Ines the gun moll. That would have been worth the price of admission. Like Tofie, I like the actress playing Ines. I do agree with you guys that robbing the fair with police present was a dumb ass move
but Ines isn't the brightest light
bulb and there was a pile of money there so I can see Ines trying to pull off a dumb move like that. We knew that Ines would go down sooner or later anyway.

Sara in your bullet points you said something about Virginia bot you didn't give us any detail. What did Virginia do?
the gringo"

To everyone- I am about to go back and watch the scene with Virginia and Pablo. I will add it to the recap for posterity and then the comments.

This really has gotten bad. I'm glad there are some folks willing to stick around to the end.

I am actually more frustrated by this one than with CI because there are so many interesting side stories that they are completely ignoring/screwing up.

Ines and Garabato and Mariano top that list. They are all fascinating and nuanced characters.

Here's what I put in the recap about the Pablo/Virginia conversation:

Pablo whines about Esme being at the institute. SELFISH!

This one is worse for me than CI because after CI I knew better than to do this again. Shame, shame on me. I also watch the total evening line up on Univision and particularly La Malquerida puts this tripe to shame.

I agree there are some great characters and would love to know more but Pablo & Esmeralda suck all the oxygen out of every room. I don't give one crap about them. Esmeralda is so boring a character now even Maite cannot do anything with it.

Tofie, I agree with you. I don't get what it is that we are supposed to like about these two leads. Sure, they are pretty but so what? They could both die and would anyone care? There's no depth to them and nothing to cheer for, when you add that to the fact that it looks like someone with a severe case of ADD is writing the episodes we get to this:a shitty story and angry viewers, if only they worked to give us strong characters with strong valid reasons for why they do the things they do, we would all be happy.

Sara---Thanks for re-posting. I proved that I am not a robot and it said that I did it right and then it disappeared. I think that
there is a ghost out in cyberspace
that is playing with us.

Sara---Why is Pablo selfish? Men want to be with the woman they love. That's just natural, not selfish.

A couple of days ago it was said that the local fair was ridiclous
because there were more important things to do, like find Fela. I agree that crew La Gata and Gata herself have a lot to do but remember that Gata grew up in the dump and although she is now living in uptown luxury, she still
has feelings for her beginnings. She wants the children of the dump to have some of the enjoyment and fun that the rich kids have. No, not as much money
to be made at a fair in the dump but the amount of money that was to be made was secondary thing.

David--- I have already applied for a physical therapist license.
I have asked for an expedited approval. I'm paying extra to have it sent over night Fed-Ex. Maite needs help and the PT that she has now is charging her too much, I'm willing to work for less
It's the least I could do to help.
the gringo

You said it, Eli! Pretty people who suck face every conversation in the midst of chaos and foolishness, dropped story lines, ad hoc, ad lib, b. s. does not make a good novela.

Quiero Amarte and La Malquerida are the closest we have right now. We need to set something up for Que Te Perdone Dios because that starts in January.

I assume Que Te Perdone Dios will replace La Malquerida. I don't know who the LM team leader is, but as they get closer to the fin I'm sure the call will go out for recappers (with current recappers getting priority.)

Uni is premiering it and then Mexico will get it. I'm sure it will be a hot commodity/topic on Caray. I will give it a try, but I will always be a day behind because I just can't stay up that late.

"if only they worked to give us strong characters with strong valid reasons for why they do the things they do, we would all be happy."

Dream on Eli, I don't think this is going to ever happen.

Am I the only one realizing influx of worthless galans we have been having in this timeslot?

PSMA- fArt and Bruno
CI-Oblivio Narvaez
LG-Pablo
URPEA-Rodrigo
DQTQTQ- Diego and Alonso

With the exception of Mane de la Parra in Corona de Lagrimas and David Zepeda in the timeslot changed MPV, we've had jerks and doo-doo dunderheads as the "kings" of 4:00.

I would really like Uni to start taking more risks with the 7/6 PM time slot. I understand them putting the latest and greatest in the last three slots, but I wish they would risk smaller names (both in cast and in producing.)

Quiero Amarte would have been nice to have on at 7/6 and it's generating good numbers on Caray even though it's in the afternoon.

As long as it's not Mejia or Latoodle-oo that we get next I think I'll be pretty happy.

"doo-doo dunderheads"

And weren't almost all of those shows on at the 4PM slot in Mexico??

What's with afternoon viewers being given the crap galans?

Ugh. I forgot to say that I thought the dunderheads line was funny.

DQTQx2 was a 6:00 show that was given in place of Quiero Amarte because MPV was ending.

Oh, well here's a heads up; When HEFDM ends, we're getting a Mejia edition of La Mentira (see Cuando me Enamoro)

I will avoid that one.

I was frankly surprised by the decision to air DQTQTQ. Amorcito Corazon was an afternoon show and I really figured they would do the same with DQTQTQ. Frankly, I thought AC was the better of the two. I liked DQTQTQ...I *hated* that Univision decided to edit the heck out of it. I'm sure that didn't help ratings. Do I remember correctly that DQTQTQ did pretty well in Mexico and even got an extension?

Lila, I know some TNs have lost many viewers. I don't know of any where recapping was totally dropped.
Vivi may know more details.

The one I recall for getting the most flak was El Talisman. I didn't watch it, but recaps and comments treated it as a comedy instead of the drama it was.

I stayed with CI because I was recapping it. DA as Octavio had his stupid moments, but at least he wore a snazzy uniform instead of a hoodie. I also liked MariCruz (Ana Brenda) more than I like Maite, due to the general stupidity of Cuidado con el angel.

Corona de Lagrimas was not recapped due to general distaste for Victoria Ruffo in a crying role.

Another one that set the standard for stupidity, especially in later episodes, was Fuego en la Sangre. The recent ones that I gave up watching regularly (just reading recaps and watching the odd moment here and there) were:
Por el amor manda
Por siempre mi amor (quit early)
Que bonito amor (music good)
Abismo de pasion
Triunfo del amor
La fuerza del destino

There were some good ones I missed due to schedule problems.
Others would have their own lists.157

And the actual men who were more fit for the title of galan-

PSMA- Fabricio, Mauricio and here's a crazy one; I wanted Ines from MPV to die so Ricardo and Alina could crossover and take Isabel with them.

La Gata- Mariano, Damian and Centavito

CI- Tobias, Alvaro & Eduardo (ricardo franco's character)

URPEA- Patricio (Brandon Peniche)

DQTQx2- El, Abdallah, Paolo, Alberto, Tono

I did not watch QBA, but the few times I cruised in the music was just gorgeous. I bought the soundtrack, but it doesn't really include some or the incidental stuff (which I really liked.)

Between AC and you-know-what, I agree AC was and is better. Ironic though that when it comes to the original Trapos Intimos and Carita Pintada, CP was better and not just because it was 123 caps while TI was 190-something.

Galanwise, they missed the boat here in my opinion by overlooking:
1) Mariano, sensitive, thoughtful, with a dark side that he tries to overcome
2) a tie between Damian and Principe.
The whole reason I started watching this lousy show was because I saw Principe in the previews!
Free Principe! Free Fela!

J in Oregon

Thanks, LaPaloma! I watched Porque el amor manda. It had it's moments but not even CI was this bad.

I do like me some Damian.

Thank you for the recap, Sara! I feel like we've entered the Twilight Zone. I don't understand what is going on or why.

Esme's logic about moving in to the Institute doesn't make sense to me. On the one hand, it sounds like she wants to be fully immersed in physical therapy, possibly occupational therapy as well? so she can be a productive member of society. Then, in the next breath, she's telling the kids how important it is to her to be able to walk again--so, have the surgery! She's complaining about how she *can't* do *anything* and yet, here she is, doing stuff. I saw it as an extension of the temper tantrum she threw at the fair, when she said nothing ever goes right for her. To me, she's just running away. She wants some "me" time. I would respect that a hell of a lot more if she would just admit it.

I don't understand how the PI decides Fela was kidnapped by someone who's obsessed with her and Fernando doesn't realize it's Augie. Didn't Augie say something to Fernando once about being in love with Blanca? Did I imagine them having a conversation in the living room about that? And Fernando kicking him out of the house?

I HATE Virginia's rhetoric of "Sorry, Pablo, she's in OUR club now and you just can't understand." Understanding isn't about having been through the exact same experience. If that's what it means to "understand" then, we're all screwed and no one will ever "understand" us because nobody has identical experiences. You get siblings growing up together and one will remember family vacations as the best time ever, while the other remembers them as pure torture--same trip, they were both there, completely different experiences. Understanding is about being willing to listen and TRY to put yourself in the other person's place. So, sorry, Virginia, you are one of my favorite characters, but I disagree with you. And telling Pablo, of all people, that he'll never be able to "understand" what Esme is going through just gives him a convenient excuse not to try. Because, really, if you can't ever understand what another person is going through, then why even bother?

Lorenza seemed very natural emceeing the "Beauty" pageant. I actually liked that part of the whole thing, despite the ridiculousness of it.

I did not like them taking Rita's very dramatic/real reaction to Ines' arrest, getting drunk...and turning that into fodder for a comedic moment. She wasn't even sloppy drunk, she was basically just sad and passed out, so how was that supposed to translate into "funny"? It didn't for me.

Whoops, comment too long!

I would like to chip in to the Send Gringo and David To Physical Therapy School fund!

Lila, I am really feeling this: "I really do feel like these people just threw some shit together ripped off from actual quality novelas, jumbled memories of others, their own ignorance and prejudices and whatever the f*ck came to mind each day and said screw these idiots, they'll watch anything while we laugh all the way to el banco!" Does anyone remember those magnetic poetry things with the words that you just rearrange on your fridge? Do they still make those? I think Televisa has a few sets of those and that's how they're creating the "plot."

tofie, "How will crazy be portrayed for the FeBlanca doll? Eyes that roll around in her head when a nut and fixed when lucid?" I propose two heads. The Fela head can have googly eyes and tangled hair and the Blanca head can have fixed eyes, makeup, smooth hair, and earrings.

Anon at 3:08...word! I expected better of Ines.

Carvivlie and Sara, it's definitely the Eau de Protagonista. You have to use that stuff sparingly! Either Damian is immune because of early exposure or they're waiting to throw him into the mix and complicate things. And so far Hot Physical Therapist seems to be keeping his wits about him as well.

Maybe the trick is to figure out what this story is REALLY about and treat the Pablo/Esme "love story" as a secondary plotline. Maybe, then I can feel like it's going somewhere instead of sitting, stagnant, waiting for the Liquid Plumr to break up the clog so it can start circling the drain.

(Why does it keep asking me to prove I'm not a robot? Are robots equally outraged about this show? I had no idea!)

Sorry, I can't prove I'm not a robot. Can't prove I AM one, either. Whirr ... clink ... whoosh-mmmnnnnk-ghhhhhhhhh!

I hope Muchacha Italiana Viene a Casarse is given 4:00. Jose Ron is the galan there and he does OK as a lead (I think he yells all macho man at the female lead like to shake off the reputation Los Exitosos Perez left him. However I've seen Livia and Ariadne yell right back at him. Speaking of Livia, I think she is a this generation Victoria Ruffo.)

Kat-I liked the beauty pageant, too! (And I'm also tired of proving I'm not a robot.)

CorazonSalvaje(; I'm trying not to get my hopes up about any future show. Uni seems to have a knack for airing the shows that I am least interested in. At least in prime time. Oh or worse, Uni airs something I like and then starts cutting it so shreds.

And I can totally see Livia becoming the new Reina de Lagrimas.

I'm not familiar with this writer but she must be really bad because well over half of the comments are either off topic or dissing her.
I found myself getting caught up in the anger and that's not good for my blood pressure. Since there's 50 some odd episodes to go, it's not healthy for me to hang in here that long. So I'm gonna quit both watching and reading cause I've totally lost interest.

"off topic"

There's no plot to this. How the hell does one stay on topic with this? Nothing happens.

And it's 47 episodes.

La Paloma- I believe they stopped recapping El Clon. That had more to do with no one commenting on the recaps.

So FYI I'm cool with even off topic comments. I like talking to y'all.

Sara,
"There's no plot to this. How the hell does one stay on topic with this?"
See, this is why I love the Patio.
The experts say it's healthy to blow off steam! What safer venue is there for blowing off steam--even if it's really because we're stressed out at work or with our kids or whatever--than here on the patio?
And besides, Sara, you make me laugh.

J in O

I'm interested in MIVAC just because

it's Pedro Damian behind it; he's great!

Livia (TDA aside) finally gets a role with more than a quarter of a brain

Jose Ron will add to the elusive actually legit 4:00 galan category

Enrique Rocha is in it (I loved when Verano de Amor had upped the ante and switched ER's usual malo chavalo role with the sweet role of Vito Rocca while Juan Ferrara took on the nasty, death deserving Otthon Villalba who came EXTREMELY close to his villainous goal.)

I'm pretty sure if it is shown in the US, it will be edited and in Mexico, it's flopping so it will most likely end sooner. The goal for this show is 166 capitulos; I'm sure it can be concluded sooner.

I hope you didn't subscribe to updates, if it's so bad it's making your blood pressure spike, Anon! Good for you, taking responsibility for your own self-care.

Venting frustration and mocking is my coping mechanism of choice! At least for TNs.

Sara, you're right. There is no plot! We're in some kind of stall. Saturday morning cartoon villains hit the entire world of La Gata with an Acme Stupidity Ray and are giggling madly.

J in O: watching and whining is really great escape for me. I'd rather ponder and grumble over this than think about work.

Kat: Acme stupidity ray. Yup. That about describes it.

CorazonSalvaje(; I am not a fan of Jose Ron, but I'm sort of resigned to watching whatever is in this time slot. If it's flopping in Mexico why air it here and edit it? They did the same with PSMA. Poor ratings in Mexico, poor ratings here. But the Mexican audience gets to see everything! Makes me very jealous.

Hmmmm, Kat, didn't occur to me to have interchangeable heads but great idea. I could pop an Augie head on Pablo, Rita on Gisela and let them makeout.

5ft "I hope you didn't subscribe to updates,..."

I have no idea what you mean by subscribing to updates. Please explain to a stupid a$$hole like myself who apparently made an remark that somehow touched a nerve.

I don't understand what's wrong with me saying that I'm not going to follow this novela only to be ripped a new sarcastic a$$hole.

I need to know what you mean by advising me not to subscribe to updates. What the f---k is that all about?

Sara "So FYI I'm cool with even off topic comments. I like talking to y'all. " Amen to that!!

and 5FT"Venting frustration and mocking is my coping mechanism of choice! At least for TNs. " I love it!!

Those moments when I get to see this TN, I find myself wondering "what happened?" I hate it when things have potential and then things go South.

Fatima

Honestly it is not the remark itself. I think what most bothers me is the anonymity. Everyone is of course entitled to opinions. We try to deal with them as nicely as possible at Caray. We don't even know who you are yet you make a comment on our being "off topic" and your blood pressure being affected.

I see nothing wrong with being off topic. This is a conversation among friends (at least to me it is) and those rarely stay on topic. I would submit that we are very on topic as we have stuck to the theme of telenovelas.

Bear in mind as well that we can only read your words. We cannot hear your voice or tone. I'm sure we are missing the point of your announcement that you are no longer watching or reading as you have lost interest. How would you like us to address that?

Please believe me when I tell you that 99% of us have probably lost interest in the show as well, but we have not lost interest in each other and our patio talks. We love to have new folks join us, but if we are not your cup of tequila we understand and wish you the best. It is rather rude though to anonymously lurk in the shadows of the patio, eavesdrop and suddenly shout "this conversation sucks! I'm leaving. "

I must give a special shout out to gringo. He's put up with anger and grumbling not only with this show, but with CI as well.

(I hope your PT license comes soon!)

Fatima - hi! Thanks for stopping by! Trust me when I tell you that every night I ask myself "what happened?"

Ugh. Now the captcha is asking for words which makes proving I'm not a robot even more difficult. I like numbers better.

Sara, I agree...numbers are much better on the "captcha". :)

I always hold on to some of these TN hoping that the story will get back on track. Sometimes it does and sometimes doesn't. If it is hard for the writers to write for 200 episodes, then cut it in half and focus on that. I think a TN can still be successful without having 200 episodes.

gringo...where are you...we need some support to keep us going! You always find that little ray of sunshine for us. :)

Fatima

...forgot to add that our patio convos keep me going. I wouldn't miss them for the world even if I don't comment much.

Fatima

Anon, about 3-4 lines up from the orange "publish your comment button" if it says "follow-up comments will be sent to... " there is a blue "unsubscribe" so that you don't continue to get comments emailed to you. Because that would be counterproductive to distancing yourself to a situation that you feel is doing you harm.

Thank you for attributing malicious intent to my original comment. I do love it when people assume I'm being a jerk and treat me accordingly. And then put words in my mouth. Really spices up my day!

5ft now I know the option that you are referring to but it isn't available to "anonymous".

By the way I can relate to your feeling: "Thank you for attributing malicious intent to my original comment. I do love it when people assume I'm being a jerk and treat me accordingly. And then put words in my mouth."

That's exactly how I felt a few episodes back when I sincerely complimented you on one of your recaps and you responded saying that my comment was really an insult to another recapper disguised as a compliment to you. You even sent a hyperlink from Blog mom about how recappers should be treated. When I responded with a comment that I was sincere your response was "take this as a warning", you said you would delete such comments in the future. To me that was the same as calling me a liar. That didn't exactly make my day.

With all the other negative comments here about dislike for the novela, I'm still puzzled as to why my comment was singled out with a sarcastic response. It's as if you're saying "you want to quit, here, let me show you how to do it"!!!

OK, I'll buy into the gang mentality of "once in, you can't get out". I won't leave since that's what you want.

It wasn't your comment, Sue. It was your need to announce that you would no longer read or watch. I ask again, how am I supposed to respond to that? (I use "I" since technically this is my post.)

Why do I continue? Partly loyalty to Kat. She's picked up DQTQTQ alone and now this one. I said I would help and I meant it. I also stick around for the folks that want to hang out on the patio. I am not watching the entire Uni line up, but I like hearing from tofie, gringo, David, J in Oregon, Lila, and others.

As I said earlier I don't understand the anonymous announcement that you will no longer watch or comment.

Oh, that's right, I did have that conversation with Sue, didn't I! Hi, Sue! Well, now I'm really confused. I thought we had enough history with each other that you would know I wasn't being sarcastic about you taking care of your health. Well, if you're not getting email notifications and you keep coming back on your own, I cannot be held responsible for that!

Please allow me to add La Paloma and emeraldrose to my list. I'm sure I'll remember others too.

Re: story fitting with number of episodes

Tell me if I'm off here...I had previously thought that before they even got started, they either decided on a number of episodes and figured out how much story they needed to make that work; or they decided on a story and figured out how many episodes they would need to tell that story.

Lately...maybe the last year or so?...it feels like they plan out about the first month and the last month, but they have no idea what's going to happen in the middle or how long "the middle" is going to last. So we get to a point where a word in the right ear would resolve 90% of the problems in the show and all that would be left are the bodas, but since they decided this show needs to go on for x episodes, they stall with tangents, give characters personality transplants, etc.

OR, we get to where everything is basically resolved, so they throw in a new Big Problem in order to extend it for another couple of months. Azul's amnesia after the car accident in Amar Sin Limites comes to mind--everything was resolved, all the right people were together, and then there's a prison break and a car goes over a cliff and she goes missing for months. That was 2008 and it caught us off guard for being unusual. Now it seems to be more commonplace.

I used to say to people that telenovelas are different because they have a beginning, middle, and end. Now I'm not so sure about them having a "middle."

What the hell happened, I leave the room..... All I know is more than once I've said something during this show or others and was personally attacked (like someone was laying in wait for me) and both Kat & Sara defended my right to say it, though they may or may not agree. I also admit La Gata is almost a waste of my time, and I'm not even a recapper, so know that's got to be a real bummer hanging in there for the duration. It's done for the love, fun, Spanish, jest, camaraderie. Hell, someone I have never met, Vivi, knew I was gonna be in DC couple weeks ago and invited me for coffee or drinks. If ever there was a bunch of folks just spoiling for a group hug, it's right here.

The theory that they plan only the first month and last month sounds good. If the ratings are good we get a lot of extended middle. If the ratings are bad we get muddled middle until the next show is ready to go.

GOOD GRIEF!! All this fighting on the patio is not warranted. I know that La Gata is not the best
of novelas but??? Anyway all of this bickering is for not. As in all not so good novelas where the writing is not up to par there are some good things also. CI had it's good points---Ana Brenda, Beautiful dresses, beautiful ranchos, great scenery shots, a monkey etc. The same with this one. Sara---You said nothing happens. OMG!! Wasn't the Raven Haired Goddess in the swimming/therapy pool. I will be there to help her just as soon as
my PT license arrives. I have to admit that Maite is nice to look at and think about but there are other good parts. Take for example, Augie. This guy's a hoot,
he cracks me up with his gravely voice and temper tantrums. David,
send him a bottle of tequila for Christmas. I think that he's running low. We have Principe, beautiful mansions, a dump which I haven't seen filmed before, and a beauty contest with Rita? I'm so sad that I missed that but please---no bikinis for her.

Anyway, as with CI, this has plenty to keep me interested.

Diva---your comments are never too long, I love them, Diana's too

One last comment. If some of you guys out there want to get mad, get mad at the prove you're not a robot. Now that is something to get angry about. Some of the stuff that pops up is just impossible.
the gringo

5FT, I would say that you are correct re your thesis above. Look what happened to MPV. We were all SO excited that it would be fast moving; no wasted time, etc, but all of a sudden it seemed like they changed writers in mid-stream.

The middle of the story clearly did NOT meet up to our original expectations. I still watched up to the next to the last episode and then only read the gran final recap. I have no idea why I did that, but that's what I did.

In any event, I think you are correct re things changing in the middle. I guess the writers need a mental break.

Fatima

gringo - I have been trying to figure out the sudden reappearance of the prove you are not a robot box, but I can't explain why it's back.

I think there is pretty of things in this show for the male viewer. I guess the females don't have as much. The dresses aren't as pretty as in CI and we aren't getting enough Mariano, Damian or Carrlos.

Hurry it up, gringo! Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy looking at Los Hot Docs in their swimwear, but I'm sure Esme needs more personal attention than they can give her. They do have all those other patients, after all.

Thank you for the mental image of Rita in a bikini. Someone pass the tequila! No margarita mix needed.

Fatima and Sara, I wish they would stop thinking that way and adjusting for ratings. It might net them more $$ but it kills the story, and since they seem to be doing it as they go along it messes with the pacing. Whereas, if they had decided ahead of time, they could have slowed things down before we got to that "nearly everything is resolved" point. I wonder if they lose money (or care) on the DVD side of things. If the middle/end of a show loses me, then I'm certainly not going to buy the DVD to relive the awkward moments! As a matter of fact, the only TN I own on DVD is "La Reina del Sur."

I got a picture that's so blurry I don't even think a robot could make anything of it. Refresh!

"relive the awkward moments"

LOL

Oy vey. "I think there is plenty of things"

*headdesk *

As opposed to the ads at the end of every show, where Uni invites us to "relive the romance" online. And I'm thinking "What romance?! You didn't give us any romance this episode!"

Criminy.

Let me try this again...

There are plenty of things for the male viewer

I think it has a little something for everybody, though I'm at a loss to decide who Meatball and the Mrs., Rita, and Chacharas are there for.

The only part I feel is "for" me at this point is the Virginia-Carlos romance, and Carlos has been missing *sob* The eye candy is ok. I like when characters are complex--like Mariano and his crises of conscience and Lorenza making peace with Pablo being with Esme even though she doesn't like her. I'm bummed that Ines got busted again before her career could really take off. I suppose it's for the best. I don't want her to be turned into a "good girl" as a result, though. I would be thrilled if she keeps her edge and keeps hating Esme, but just goes on and does something legal.

"What romance?!" Great point, 5FT. I want some real romance like in "Amor Bravio".

Fatima

I definitely like my "evil" mean and competent, but I could do with less senseless ranting and less evil=crazy.

I would like to see more "good" that isn't necessarily "nice." Some "good" characters who don't let people walk all over them.

I would like to see less "they won't let us be together" as the center of the plot and treated like a life-or-death situation.

I would like to see more actual life-or-death situations where we're actually on the edge of our seats wondering if we're about to lose an important character, and whether they live or die, the outcome is realistic.

And smoochies...can we PLEASE have some more smoochies! If nothing else, it reduces the workload for recapping :D

Fatima, Amor Bravio is one of the recent high points...unless I'm blocking out bad memories! That was some quality romance! And the good guys were actually smart. And while the plot twists were annoying, they were clearly planned out from the beginning. And Silvia and Christian had such great chemistry!

I was surprised---In CI, Maricruz
wore a skirt that none of the women liked. I liked it, thought that it had a modern fashionable country or ranch style look. The skirt was cut higher in the front and longer in the back. I just saw a dress, not a skirt but a dress cut exactly the same way. I was surprised but didn't write it down and now I can't remember where I saw it. Was it Alexa in Hasta El Fin or at a big celebrity
event somewhere? Don't know but flashbacks of Maricruz came to mind.

Tofie---No the Doc. Hottie doll will not be anatomically correct.
We don't have enough money in the patio fund to fight off lawsuits.
And no bikini's on the Rita doll. That for sure would bring a lawsuit.
the gringo

big g it was Alexa that had on the black mullet dress, at work no less. I use the term work, loosely for her

gawd, I don't want more loud smooches between Pablo and Esmeralda. I'd be down for Esmeralda and Mariano, even had a Mariano and Ines fantasy flash or two.

Ah, yes, the "hi-lo" skirt. Also known as the "mullet" skirt. Someone did one on this week's Project Runway and Alyssa Milano commented that she doesn't like them because they're hard for "short girls" to pull off. Having never worn one myself, I'll take her word for it. It's hard enough trying to find a skirt with an even hem that's the right length for me without alterations!

I don't think Maite's that tall, but, c'mon...girlfriend could wear a burlap sack and look good.

5Ft, totally agree with your comments re "AB". Holy Cow did I love that show.

Fatima

Well, since Esme promised Ines she'd get her a lawyer, we may have an opportunity for some Ines-Mariano action, gringo.

Hot Physical Therapist was also appreciating her at the fair...though I don't know if trying to rob him would be a deal-breaker. It's potentially a funny story to tell the grandkids, no?

Kat, I have to alter everything I buy. If I wore a mullet skirt, it would hit my knees in the front and drag the ground in the back. Not quite the look they're going for I'm sure.

I know I've seen Flavia (Quiero Amarte) wearing a mullet skirt.

I recently used the term "mullet skirt" with my nieces and they liked it better than "hi-lo skirt". Who knew Caray was also on the cutting edge of fashion terminology?

Fatima-Are you watching Quiero Amarte? I thinks it's the same producer as AB. If you've commented over there and I have forgotten, please forgive me. Sometimes it is difficult for me to keep up with names or the names that go with which comments.

I miss Madelaine. I wish she were
here to join in.
the gringo

Oh gringo :-(

She was such a good person. I wish I had known her better.

Sara, I've not been watching "QA". I suspect I could find it on Hulu Plus, but there are not enough hours in the day!

gringo...oh my, oh my...the sadness of losing our beloved Madelaine.

Fatima

AB *used* to be on Hulu (like maybe a month ago it was there) and when QA started I decided to try to watch AB as well since folks had spoken so highly of it. I'm bummed that it's not on hulu any more.

I'm real tired of proving I'm not a robot.

Hi, y'all

Re the robot thing. I sign in to Caray, or Chrome, or Google and hit "Publish your comment" and I don't have to do anything with the fuzzy robot image. What problem are youze guys having?

I *am* signed in and still have to prove I'm not a robot and plug in a captcha... Even from my chromebook ON MY OWN POST.

Sara---I know nothing about computers but have read on past blogs that Google Chrome doesn't work well on the Caray blog. Don't know why.
the gringo

No. It doesn't work well, especially with the feeds.

But I still have to use the captcha in internet explorer as well.

I have to enter a captcha when:
I come to the comment page via email (chromebook, laptop and phone)

I come to the comment page from the front page of Caray on Chrome and Internet explorer.

I DO NOT have to enter a captcha when I come to the comment page via the Caray front page mobile site using chrome on my android phone.

I've also discovered I only have to enter the easy to read word for it to post.

For example, I currently have a difficult to read set of letters (I think it says "epoeas") and the easy to word "farm" (which is also easier to enter when on a phone.)

I will only have to put in "farm" for my comment to publish.

Wow, that's weird Sara. Under "Choose an identity" as long as it has a filled in radio button next to Lila (Google Account) – Sign Out, etc., I don't have to do anything with the robot thing. And no, Caray doesn't work on chrome so I only go on in IE or Firefox.

What a pain in the tusch, sorry y'all are having that problem! Did this start happening after we got that DNS problem last week?

Yup I see Sara (Google Account)-- Sign out, yet I still have to fill it in.

hmmm. Maybe it did start after that DNS problem (Is that when it kept redirecting?)

Caray works on Chrome. I can go there and read to my heart's content. What I can't do is click on any of the feed links.

I've been off IE since the last round of security issues. Chrome and Blogger are both Google products, so it makes no sense that they don't work together well. It knows I'm signed in and easily recognizes that, but it still wants the robot check.

Well, that's interesting...I just skipped the robot check and it posted anyway.

Just got this response to a post I made on the blogger help forum:

"The unwanted CAPTCHA is the result of a coding / design mistake, that Blogger made earlier this week. They are working on improving it, ASAP."

Oooo. Kat, I just posted without entering anything either. Cool!

I feel like a doofus for not trying that earlier.

Hey, ask them on the help forum why we're still getting Meatball on this show when we shouldn't be anymore...just in case they can correct that, too.

You're so funny, Kat!

I try. It's nice to be appreciated for being a smartass with a bad attitude and an overuse of sarcasm.

Great, guys! Like I said, when I'm signed in I just ignore the robot and my post goes up anywho!

Yay! The robot is defeated.

Next, I'll try Caray on Chrome. It hasn't worked for me! o_0

Hmmm, different characters' reactions to "Please prove you're not a robot"

Pablo would recite some poetry.

Lorenza would scoff at it and say "Maldita captcha!"

Damian would start a legal argument and end up just beating the snot out of the text box.

Could this be considered Maite's worst work? I mean 6 novelas and half have been with the Mejia/Lartilleux uncivil union.

I have to say Cachito de Cielo is her best; Renata Landeros was her name and news reporting was her game. She was beautiful throughout that entire show and a mature, strong woman who didn't tolerate nonsense.

tofie, you're gonna love this; Mariano's actor Jorge Poza was the villain Fabio Montenegro. Fabio was attractive, seductive, calculating and overall villainous. I think Mariano isn't bad because if he was, it would be too much like CDC. Fabio actually got to slap Renata in the show and believe me, Pedro Fernandez' character Chava (funny huh?) gave him a good punching.

Bonus- Nicolas from Mi Corazon es Tuyo is there too as Renata's dad, Ernesto and he is refered to as Pupi throughout the show. IDK how he was taken so seriously with that name because Pupi was such a bigshot. If you thought you hated Nico, just look at Poopy.

I think I've only seen Maite in this and Triunfo de Amor and I'm tempted to say that it's not her work, it's how the characters are written. She tries to sell it, but there's only so much she can do with what she's given. Like her "I'm going to go live at the institute" scene...I believed that I was looking at a young woman who was making a bad decision and trying to put a good face on it in front of her family. She did the whole "Trust me, I'm not mad anymore" with a slight hint of "I'm overplaying this so you guys won't argue with me, but yeah, I'm still kind of mad."

Daniel, on the other hand...he's very good at playing dopey, but when he steps outside of that and tries for serious or angry it's not as believable for me.

Jarocha would seduce the text box.

Bahahahaha! CorazonSalvaje(; she totally would!

Hat baby would briefly remove his hat, but not where we could see him.

I remember being excited for Triunfo and not just because I was tired of Soy tu Duena. I LOVED the fashion show scenes in TdA but never really watched it. Then I heard it was to be replayed this year and even saw a promo on TV but the result was Destilando Amor instead LOL. I do agree that it turned out dumb and that it sort of hurt that El Privilegio de Amor was so good and it's remake was so bad.

Auggie would give the evil eye and kidnap it in the middle of nowhere.

Mariano would romantically lust after it.

Ines amd the Garbage Pail Kids would plan a heist.

My first exposure to Maite was in Cuidado con el Angel. There were some similarities with La Gata. For starters, the executive producer was Sra. La Toodle Ooo.
Maite played a lively cheerful orphan (raised in an orphanage). She rode a bike around the city and had a little dog.
She fell in love with William Levy's lawyer (?) character. They were married briefly and had a child.
She was actually the child of wealthy parents and was involved with much drama and intrigue trying to connect with her true parents.
She was blind for a while. Her estranged love (Levy) studied to become an eye surgeon so he could operate and cure her blindnes. (Much drama and stupidity involved in this segment. Laughable!) Also much evil plotting to ensnare Levy and get rid of Maite.
This drama prejudiced me against Maite, although I thought she was ok in Triunfo de Amor. Only saw brief moments of Cachito de Cielo.

CorazonSalvaje(; I echo your assessment of Cachito. I loved that show. Maite was very good in that and Pedro made me swoon. He may not be a hunk, but he is so very charming. I wish Cachito were on DVD. I would love to have even an edited copy of it.

I love love love the character reactions to the captcha!

Gisela would butter it up, saying it has the potential to be one of the most influential text boxes anywhere on the Internet and then freak out that it allows anyone else to enter text and attempt to kill us all with plastic cars and snakes.

Does anybody else think maybe Hat Baby (aka Cap Baby) is not able to sit up by himself? Whoever is holding him always has him supported in a horizontal position. That little Baby Letitia is sure full of vinegar though.

J in O

Well, if they'd allow the babies to age normally, he might be walking already! Leticia is past that, I think...she's already run a marathon and written a novel.

So now that we got the straight-forward and uncivil union works out of the way, here are the last two.

Mi Pecado- Lucrecia Cordoba-Pedraza; constantly blamed for the death of her brother Cesar by her black-hearted mother Rosario. Rosario (played by none other Daniela Castro) had a rifle, gun and pistol for a tongue. Lucrecia in my opinion was Maite's second best career choice. Novela by Cara de Rata Juan Osorio Ortiz.

Rebelde- She was Lupita in this 440 capitulo novela and I know she was a sporty sweet. Her 3rd best before falling into the wrong hands.

Hmm, her novel would be titled, "My Life as Leti" like the show "My Life as Liz" on MTV.

Thanks for that info on Mi Pecado! I've thought about showing that in class. Good to know Maite was good in that.

And here I am saying I watch "way too many" telenovelas and y'all keep mentioning ones I've never seen. I feel like such a slacker!

Garbage Pail Kid Willy Hotssscar would just have to let me feel that red-hot beard and look into his pretty eyes and access would be grant- wait, did I say me? I meant the captcha text box.

You might have said "me." It's possible. And I might have said "Oh, yeeeeeah, baby!" Maybe. Possibly.

This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.

Chacharas would start telling some story about back in the day when he was a boxer and it would let him post just to make the story stop...except he'd keep going.

Fela would cry like because it would be reminiscent of when Lorenza yelled at her for picking flowers. ( Another thing, why does LaToodle-Doodle cast Erika Buenfil to be a crazy? In Mar de Amor, she was La Loca Casilda.)

Blanca would fumble and wonder if she's supposed to type "Renata"...no, wait, it's "Esmeralda"...no, wait..."You're the BAD BOX!"

(She does do a great job of going back and forth between Blanca and Fela...and whoever she is now....)

(It reminds me of Yvette and Blanca from CCEA)

Erika had a short villana role with the name Patsy in Tormenta en el Paraiso (although all villains there paled in comparison to Mariana Seoane) I was suprised to see EB as bad because she has always been sweet and feisty. I want a re-run of TEEP now that every Juan Osorry-o is being re-run in honor of MCET.)

I think I remember that! She was collecting people's secrets and blackmailing them? Wasn't that also the one where one of the bad buys died by falling into a tiger cage...and the tiger was very comically fake?

Oops! Bad GUYS...the bad buy was the fake tiger.

I think the blackmailer was Renata Flores' character Simona. I never really wanted to watch it but always ran into it while catching the last five seconds of Atrevete a Sonar.

Yes, it was. The bad guy played Mariana Seoane's father (if we're talking Mar de Amor because in TEEP someone suffered a similar fate early on.)

I figured I was mixing some things up. Mostly, what I remember from TEEP was the Death By Tiger. I felt sorry for the poor tiger...what a case of indigestion it must have had.

Rita would lift her tail and spray the text box like the skunk she is, then spit at it.

Virginia wouldn't be able to see it.

Hottie Doctor of the missing moustache would grace the text box's perimeter.

Virginia doesn't need to see it...she's so sweet, she couldn't possibly be a robot.

Mercedes would chastise the captcha box for asking inappropriate questions .

I thought TEEP was death by lion because the Alvaro-craving lion from DDP could be typecast into another Oh-Sorry-O production (however lions, tigers and jaguars are all the same difference LOL)

I was laughing really hard when it happened...and on the next day's replay...so it's possible I have the wrong big cat :D

It was funnier, but less long-lasting than the time Diego on Acorralada got eaten by sharks when he was running from the cops...I don't even remember why. But for the next few episodes people kept telling each other what had happened, and it cracked me up to watch these actors try to keep it together while delivering the news that "Diego is dead...he was eaten by sharks." That was also the week Mr. 5ft learned how to say "tiburones" (sharks) and that he could just randomly insert that into any conversation and I would laugh.

I remember when the old guy Marfil was about to poison turned the tables on her and he switched the drinks so she would drink her own poison.

Sara, re-read my 11:39pm EST comment.
In your 10:13 EST reply you had the nerve to say "It is rather rude though to anonymously lurk in the shadows of the patio, eavesdrop and suddenly shout "this conversation sucks! I'm leaving."
I never said the conversation sucks. Your comment is the type that incites fights and fuels anger. Some of you admittedly get a rush from it. I don't.
I tried to leave but that was unacceptable. So get used to me
Sun Dec 14, 07:14:00 PM EST

Awww, I didn't remember that! I came in on Acorralada kind of late. It was the reason I came to Caray, Caray in the first place. Octavia was so outrageous I wanted to make sure I was understanding her properly!

Ok. Now I'm pissed.

Eaten by sharks? Fake tigers? Why the hell can't Ms Latoodle-oo give us THAT kind of bad?

Whatever kind of animal it was, I kid you not, it had green glowing eyes. Talk about making it very, very clear that we weren't to take it seriously!

Hm, that made me realize that I'm actually ok with Lorenza not having an anvil dropped on her.

Is it too early to start the anvil discussion?

Low hasn't killed anyone so I suspect she will not meet with sharks or tigers.

Hmm. Thinking about it, it sort of explains the popularity of snakes. Much cheaper than sharks or animatronic tigers.

Gisela can totally end up dead by snakebite. Although, it would have been more poetic if it had happened when she tried to kill Esme with the snake.

If you ever have to ask someone completely seriously, "Was it you who put the snake in the bed?" you might be in a telenovela....

It's not too early.

-Bevy of Baddies-

Lorenza
Augustin
Rita
Ines
Garabato
Gisela
Any Henchmen

Fill in any baddies if I miss any.

El Italiano

Beat me to it! I was just about to add the Meatball!

Diogenes, aka The Chin 2
Rita's son?

Diogenes qualifies under henchmen.

The sad thing is Garabato has taken a life. He actually feels bad about it. Ines doesn't. Anyway, doesn't the general "rule" mean Garabato will face a pretty heavy anvil? How bad do I sound when I say the guy he killed was kind of scummy himself?

WOW! 166 comments made over the weekend. This sounds impressive until you look closer at the breakdown. 49 of the comments were made by one person. Another person wrote 38 of the comments. Of the remaining 79 comments 60 were off topic by a select group who meets on an imaginary patio and call themselves the "patio group". That leaves a whopping 19 comments that has anything to do with Friday's novela. But don’t take my word for it. Take a look at the stats for yourself!

Exploitative Crime Boss? True, he was scummy. And Garabato wasn't trying to kill him. And he did feel bad about it at the time. But lately it's just being ignored, so I wonder if it's another dropped thread.

Hey Diva, Accoralada was one of my first but I didn't know about Caray. Also remember a Las Reinas del Amor or something like that, also an afternoon show. I should go over and look at the faves novelas post. I didn't because I haven't seen nearly as many and didn't think there'd be much to say. I could probably pick up some to hulu or youtube!

I know Netflix had a few...that's how I saw Alborada. Sometimes I think about going back and looking for the ones I originally passed up because I thought "nah, too cheesy," and now I think "really, how bad could it be?"

I am woefully uneducated about TNs. I'm a mere babe as STuD was my first. I've since caught some on DVD and I've decided to try pay closer attention to the TLnovelas channel and catch some more, but I haven't seen half as many as the rest of Caray.

(I'm currently watching Cuna de lobos on TLnovelas. It's soooo gooood!

My frustration with Hulu right now is some novelas are highly edited (maybe only 15 hours.) Plus the ones that have all the episodes seem to be there one day and gone the next (*cough*Amor Bravio*cough*)

Whoa Diva, La Alborado on Netflix? I hardly use my Netflix! Big Duh! Gotta check it out!

Sara, I went back and watched La Fea on Hulu and every minute was there. Maybe they choose to edit some or, instead of uploading the original, like La Fea, they upload the crappy edited version that they sell on DVD. That sounds plausible. If it's a really good show they don't want anything available that's better than the one they're selling?

"Betty la Fea" or "La Fea Mas Bella"?

I would get BlF on video for sure!

LFMB I think I would like to watch because I never saw about the first half or more. I liked Betty La Fea so much I was afraid I'd hate it...silly me!

I'm going to have to check out Netflix, too!!!

I view La Fea as another "canon" TN (one that gets mentioned positively and often) that I really need to see...but so.many.episodes.

Sara, what is TLnovelas?

It's one of the channels offered by my cable company. Basically they replay Televisa TNs 24/7. Currently they are airing La Usurpadora, Cuna de lobos, Barrera de Amor, La fea mas bella...and one or two others I can't remember.

La Fea Mas Bella. Sara, I was surfing channels one day and saw this BEAUTIFUL man. My Spanish was real rusty but my daughter was home from College and is fluent and she translated for me. The show looked fun and silly and they were overacting but I was mesmerized! I had seen bits and pieces of Novelas but this was the clearest reception I'd ever gotten. I fell in love with Jaime Camil and the rest. . .

I used to visit the Mexican board thought because I didn't know about Caray! I've seen a few, not lots. Totally enjoy them!

Jaime is a beauty. He's the reason I peeked at Por Ella Soy Eva and QPob

Jaime is lovely! And moves very well between comedy and drama. And that smile! Dreamy :D

I watched the whole of PESE on hulu+ and sorry I didn't watch it on the patio. It was WONderful! His portrayal of Eva was just magnificent, hilarious, she seemed as "real" as the other characters. I loved how "she" would burst out in songs of praise/pleas for help when she was being amorously pressed by. . .oh what's his name? the man who fell in love with her. Funny! Love that man!

Oh! Is it still in Hulu?

Oh no! Nope! I don't see Por Ella Soy Eva on hulu+! It appears to be gone. Shame.

I see La Alborada (on hulu+), all the passion and romance offered in "only 11 chapters." I guess that's supposed to sound attractive!

Well, 11 chapters of passion and romance is more than what we've gotten in this show!

Well, drat. THanks for checking on that Lila. Hulu is blocked at work.

Wow...185 comments !!!!

And six and a half hours until the episode airs...at least here.

Is anyone else concerned that Esme is the babies' only legal parent and she's left them back at the house? I know they'll be taken care of, but does this leave them vulnerable to potential legal shenanigans?

I'm late to the patio this morning but I saw a comment about Maite in Triunfo Del Amor. I loved
the fashion industry theme of that one and Maite as the Model Goddess. OMG!!! Dominika Paleta didn't do bad as the model rival to Maite and also she was great in her villain scenes. Maite and William Levy were great together and I loved the two gay over the top competing designers. They were a hoot. However I got lambasted for liking that novela as well as for liking Corazon Indomable and I suppose that if in the future I mention La Gata, I will get lambasted again. I don't care! Even if a novela isn't great or considered great by the patio crowd, I always find some good parts in the story to like. I liked these three and will continue to like La Gata even
if Esme goes to the institution to live. We all know that it will only be temporary so come on guys
give Maite a break. Besides--it's
too soon for her and Pablo to live happily ever after.

A good morning laugh from Corazon
Salvaje---Jarocha would seduce the box. ---- I'm still laughing.
the gringo

Aw, gringo...you have Maite and all is right in your world! Are we really being so hard on her? I thought the general consensus was that it's not her, it's the show?

I like to differentiate between whether I think things are "good" or not and whether or not I like them. I don't always need a show to be done well, I just need to be entertained, have my mind occupied, and a bad show can do that too. Sadly, this one isn't doing it...though maybe the recent influx of eye candy can turn that around, who knows!

"...give Maite a break."

I love Maite! Despite all the flaws of this show, I do love watching her hair and her eyelashes. Oh and when she smiles!!

Kat-I have not been pleased with the way the writers have portrayed Esme as a mom. On the one hand she says she is the sole caregiver and the only one who cares and then she's going back to live in the dump or heading for the institute.

LOL---An influx of new eye candy might turn it around. That's a good one.
the gringo

Well, gringo, you have Maite, it's only fair!

I'm fine with the eye-candy we had: Damian and Carrlos...they just don't get enough screen time. *pout*

Hello, yes! They sent Damian on that mysterious long trip. And who knows where Carlos is these days. I wants my Pierre Louis! They threw me Marcelooooooh and the Let's Get Physical, Physical Therapist to try to distract me and hoped I wouldn't notice.

Wow, 194 comments!

Gringo, do you have your PT license yet?

I enjoy the rich history of tns that you all have, and comparing one to another, etc. Certainly the lack of a cohesive story line hasn't held back comments and speculation!

I like the history, too.

I was thrilled when they added the Caray Faves to the sidebar.

I wish we had some some sort of searchable archives/history here. I would love to pick the brains of the Caray "pioneers".

I want Esmeralda to stay at the institute. Great if she relearns to walk but doesn't tell anybody so she can stay. Well, maybe Hot Doc knows but keeps mum so she'll not leave.

Gringo, I'm sorry, but I do not want Esmeralda to end up with Pablo, and for me the slurpy kisses between them is not hot.

Daniel Arenas does look like a good kisser though. At least Amorcito Corazon is on where he's in yoga pants and skimpy tank tops.

I'd like for Fela and Fernando to take care of the babies. It would be like them getting a second chance at parenting together.

El Italiano would disgust the text box and sexually harass it.

Carlos would...... well IDK what he do.

Carlos would offer to sell the text box some gum in exchange for publishing rights.

Reminder: after 200, you have to click somewhere to get the second page of comments. Does anyone know how to describe it better?
