La Malquerida #71, 12/2/14: Unexpected and Unwanted Visitors

Mexico Episode #77

We get a satisfying replay of Ulises coming to Acacia’s window unexpectedly, dissing Acacia, dropping the evidence of his innocence in her hands as she cries and begs, and stalking off. Uli spots Rubio who is drunk, drinking, and singing a song dedicated to Luisa. Like Acacia, he first assumes Uli escaped from prison. Uli demands to know what Rubio did with the letter he sent, but Rubio continues to deny, deny, deny.

Luisa finds Acacia crying and puts her anger aside to hug Acacia and ask her what’s wrong. Acacia tells her of Uli’s freedom, proven innocence, and bitter visit—and how this all makes HER feel bad. Luisa is just happy that Uli is free! She tells Acacia to focus on that, and if she and Uli love each other as much as they seem to, then it will work out in the end and they will end up together.

Meanwhile, Este takes Cris to a hotel as part of their romantic date night. He pours the champagne, makes a toast, and looks at Cris expectantly. She doesn’t drink, nor does she tell him she’s pregnant. They speak briefly about the hacienda administration. Este says he’s cool with her and Acacia taking over. He still has his Association head salary, plus he’s thinking of getting involved in other business opportunities and spending more time away from the hacienda. Cris agrees that not spending all their waking hours together will do them some good. Este makes a pretty speech about their relationship, pulls out a lovely diamond ring, and puts it on her right hand. It reminds Cris of the first engagement ring he gave her back when he didn’t have money, and makes her nostalgic. She tells Este that she’s pregnant, and he does a really good job of feigning surprise. They make love happily, wake up the next morning spooning, and discuss their child. They both want a boy. She, because she has a girl and wants a boy who looks like him. He, because he doesn’t know how to handle delicate girls. Cris informs him that girls are plenty tough, plus he was great with Acacia when she was a little girl. He has been a father to her, and this child will make TWO kids that he has.

Norberto meets with his lawyer, who wants to talk about the Nuria problem. Norb gets a call from Danilo. Nuria is dead. Problem solved! The lawyer looks mildly flustered, but continues on with discussing Norb’s divorce. He advises him to sign and give Juli what she wants, or suffer the consequences if she decides to press changes. Norb is less than pleased.

The brothel is in full swing for the first time in weeks. Perla is happy and in her element, but Memo is not happy to see her hanging all over Danilo. Danilo presents Ale with a hoochie mama dress and has Perla bring her down to the party. He then makes Ale take part in a series of party photos where he makes her sit close, on his lap, and kiss him, along with some of the other girls and their johns. Although Ale looks like she’s practically being tortured in every photo, Danilo tells her he will use these photos to prove she was one of his happy hos if she tries to denounce him to the police again. Then he sends her back to her bedroom prison. Norberto makes an appearance and he and Dan talk about Nuria’s demise and how Ulises will be joining her soon. Norb smiles at the prospect, but then looks less sure of his foray into multiple homicides when Danilo leaves the room. Norb seeks out his exclusive girl Julianita, with whom he spends the whole night.

The next day, everyone starts their day with surprises. Some pleasant. Others, not so much.

German meets with his little brother and tells him he’s looking for a job, and Manuel should get off his duff and do the same, instead of waiting for everything to be handed to him. Manuel wants German to come back home…to manage the farm, since Norb is doing a crap job. Manuel doesn’t want to take charge because farming isn’t his thing. German wonders, what IS his thing? German then meets with Andres, and gets more of the story of how he and Juli met and fell in love. German asks if Andres still loves her, but he only speaks of his love for her in the past tense. He speaks about what a happy, joyful person Juliana was back then. They met when her father fell ill, and he was an intern at the hospital. Juliana even baked desserts for him. German thinks the person he is describing and the person he knows as his mother are two different people. Andres thinks that's what years of a loveless marriage will do to you. Andres offers to give German a monthly allowance so that he can focus full-time on his art. German tries to refuse, but Andres insists, pointing out all the years he was not able to support him. They say farewell, first with a handshake, and then a hug, and an “Adios, Papa” casually and naturally slips from German’s lips much to Andres’ pleasure. German later tells Cris about it and all he discussed with Andres. He offers her the money Andres gave him, in order to pay for his and Juli’s room and board, but Cris refuses. She tells him to pay her after he’s sold his next painting. German tells her that he's started doing paintings of Benavente, one of which he will gift to Cris.

Acacia makes herself the center of attention at Benavente, moaning and crying about how Uli is innocent and free, and how SHE needs to speak to him and get his forgiveness. Juan Carlos thinks they may have misjudged him about the fraud, but likely not about his relationship with Nuria. Manuel agrees, of course. Elena agrees with Acacia that he’s likely innocent of everything. Cris and Este arrive home, and Cris falls right into the Acacia vortex of angst and tears. She tells Acacia that despite Uli being free, the two of them have hurt each other so much, that they likely won’t ever be able to have a healthy relationship, and Acacia should just let it be.

Meanwhile, Rubio is meeting with Este in the home office and giving him the news about Uli in the most salacious way possible. He says that Uli just walked right in, like he owned the place (como Pedro por su casa)!  He mentions how Uli accused him of stealing the letter, and Este asks for assurance that he did not tell Uli that he has it. Rubio once again tells Este that he’s incapable of betraying him—which means that before this thing is over, Rubio will likely betray Esteban.

Juilanita and Norberto take their leave, and it’s clear he has been whining about his marital problems. Julianita can’t believe how some women don’t appreciate what they have—like Turquesa, one of Dan’s girls, who now should be called Diamante (diamond) considering the rocks she has been gifted. The name strikes a chord with Norb, but he doesn't make the full connection until he and Ale run into each other near the front door and he sees her diamond necklace. He finally knows why she seemed so familiar when they first met—SHE’S TURQUESA! Dan’s ho who he knew from the old brothel. He begins to insult and curse Ale, and calls her out for pretending to be a “good girl” and deceiving and seducing his son. He threatens to tell German! Ale is begging him not to do this when Dan walks in. He demands that Norb respect his mujer. Then he speaks to Norb alone and makes it clear that he will not tolerate Norb telling German or anyone about Ale. German would just come sniffing around and likely bring the cops. Plus, Ale’s image as a good girl is perfect for his new image as a legit business man. He warns Norb that his divorce case would go a lot worse if evidence that he frequents a brothel somehow comes to light. Hint, hint. Norb shuts up. Dan tells Ale she doesn't have to worry about Norb, but warns her again to play nice. He wants her to fall in love with him, for realzies. She basically tells him that will happen when Hell freezes over.

When Norb gets home, Juliana shows up to get some of her things (so she says) and to taunt him about the divorce. He pleads with her, he shakes her and starts to get rough, she tells him to bring it, because it will just make her divorce case stronger AND send him to jail. He lets her go and pitifully and sincerely tells her he loves her. She gets great pleasure in seeing him suffer, and smirks and slithers around him, telling him in his ear that she NEVER loved him!

Esteban makes an unwelcomed visit to Acacia's room. He wants to talk about her and Uli, but she tells him it's none of his business and he should butt out. Este says it is his business because he doesn't want it to affect Cris and the baby. Acacia says she will try not to let it. She's glad he's so preoccupied and worried about Cris and the baby because it means that he's finally going to forget about what happened between them and quit bringing it up.

Acacia then takes her tears on the road and meets Hector for coffee. He tells her that jealousy is a bad advisor, but that she should take things slow, give it time and everything will clear itself up. Acacia says that is exactly what her dad used to say. Hector says that he and Alonso were good friends and saw the world in a similar way. Acacia speaks about how much she misses her father and has missed having a father giving her advice all these years. Hector asks if Este hasn’t played this role in her life? He’s met by Acacia’s silence, and wide-eyed guilty stare, so he asks the question differently. “What kind of relationship have you and Esteban had?”

Luisa goes to see Arturo to give him his cut from the Danilo/Ale job, although he wasn’t present. They have a moment, but she still seems in denial. Uli and Carmen join them, and Luisa happily hugs Uli. He thanks her for standing by him, and Carmen does too. The only thing Carmen asks of Luisa is that she never mention (that little beyotch) Acacia to them. After everyone else leaves, Uli takes a moment to savor his freedom and being in his own home. There’s a knock on his door, and unlike a man marked for death by the mob, Uli opens the door without looking through a peephole or asking who it is. It’s Esteban, looking Esteloco and Estesmug. He says he doesn’t know how Uli managed to get free, but he certainly hopes Uli keeps his promise to stay the heck away from Acacia!

I've created a monster, people! My sister (who doesn't speak Spanish) has become hooked on this show after watching with me when I was recuperating and over Thanksgiving week. Now she calls me from Atlanta during the commercial breaks to find out what was said, and calls me after the show has ended to rehash what happened. We spoke for almost an hour after the show ended, so I just really quickly typed up the recap. Feel free to add anything I may have missed in my rush!

Vivi, I'm not surprised you brought another "convert" to the show. I'm sure your sister was intrigued by your obvious enthusiasm and fondness for this marvelous TN. How fun you have someone else to "discuss" this with.

The recap was enthralling. Your details were meticulous and the writing perfection.

"Danilo presents Ale with a hoochie mama dress"; "Norb smiles at the prospect, but then looks less sure of his foray into multiple homicides when Danilo leaves the room"; "say farewell, first with a handshake, and then a hug, and an “Adios, Papa” casually and naturally slips from German’s lips much to Andres’ pleasure" were splendid but "the Acacia vortex of angst and tears" was my absolute favorite. I had to pare my list way, way down.

Este focused on Cris and Cris only for about one night, correct? As soon as he hears Uli is free he runs to confront Uli. I cannot wait to hear what Uli tells him. I want him to get in Este's face and let him have it. Of course, now that he has forsworn Acacia, Este will no doubt leave delighted.

"He’s met by Acacia’s silence, and wide-eyed guilty stare, so he asks the question differently. “What kind of relationship have you and Esteban had?” I love how Hector posed the question. Not accusatory, not judgmental, not intrusive, but simply straightforward.

I fear for Hector once Danilo receives the news about Uli. However, if there is one person who seems able and ready to handle Danilo, it is Hector.

Andres' assertion that Juli was lovely and happy when they were in love makes me think that she did go through a complete metamorphosis. In spite of the pitiful creature he is now, Norberto was cruel and she was surely beaten down with years of being with him. And I'm sure her guilt in leaving Andres has simmered and stewed all those years leaving her bitter and angry.

I don't know how Ale continues to function each day, having to submit to Danilo's kisses and other atrocities. My heart goes out to her.

I am glad that Andres and German are bonding and am hoping Carmen can put the jealousy aside that is clouding her vision and can see the truth about Andres, that he is a wonderful and loving man.

At the end, Este went into Acacia's room and she asked what he was doing there. Can someone please tell me what she said to him?

Vivi, this was amazing.

Diana

Morning, Diana! Thanks for the great comment and for the reminder of one of the scenes I left out in my hurry. I'm about to run out the door, so I'll add it to the recap later, but this is what was said:

Este comes into Acacia' s room. He says he wants to talk about Uli. She says it's none of his business and he should butt out. Her mother and the baby should be his sole focus now. He says that's why he's bringing it up, because he doesn't want all this Uli stuff to affect Cris and the baby. Acacia points out that's exactly why he should focus on Cris, leave her alone, and not keep bringing up what happened between them.

Wow,thanks Vivi!

I haven't cut Acacia much slack, but she said the right things. Although I think she is falling under Este's spell, I give her credit for trying to shut him down and telling him to concentrate on Cris. But most importantly, she told him to leave her alone!

But...why do I have a sneaking suspicion he is not going to listen? Sigh...

Diana

Thanks, Vivi. Superb recap. Fabulous that your sister is now an LM convert too, even without Spanish -- sweet! This is the best show in town right now. My favorite "Vivi's" of today: Acacia takes her tears on the road and Estesmug.

Ack, I hope Cris and Carmen don't meet up soon. Carmen's son has had two murder attempts on him, been unfairly incarcerated, and betrayed by coddled Acacia. I like Cris but I wanted to smack her when she said (again) that Uli had made her baby suffer.

I like that Norb seems scared of Danilo. Hate to admit it, but Danilo did swoop in very well and block Norb from hurting Ale. Of course Danilo is looking out for his own interest, but I do see why Perla thinks Danilo is better than the previous scum she's dealt with.

Thanks, Vivi, for that excellent recap. I have not had a chance to watch this episode. It seems as though Ack is really trying to get Estestalker to back off. We know that in the end she will be with Uli.

You have to admit that Damnilo is clever in a disgusting sort of way . Taking those photos of poor Ale with those ho's and johns fir possible blackmail purposes was inspired. I want him to get squashed by a giant anvil. His smarmy , joyless grin makes my skin crawl. He thinks he has everything under control. Who is going to uncover his true nature and dirty dealings ?

I hate that Este has wormed his way back into the hacienda and Chris's bed. Bleeccchhh. He is a lying liar who lies. Chris seemed to kip ick the wind out of his sails the other night when she told him that she wanted him to no longer be listed as an administrator of the hacienda, Are they out of financial trouble now ?

So funny about your sister Vivi and what an awesome job you've done to recap for us too.

None of Hectors business asking about the relationship between Acacia and her stepfather? I could see his shifty eyes as he deftly segued from a discussion of her dead father to Esteban, knowing he was crossing over the line drawn by Cris. I know he's supposed to be the white knight but the dude makes me uncomfortable.

Though I think it time Acacia gets her comeuppance, I'm sure anyone would have been confused about Uli's supposed flight, cheating & double dealing. Plenty of folks threw gas on that fire.

Acacia - a swift knee works

I'm kinda waffling now on Acacia telling Cris. That is, if Esteban stays on his side of the hacienda.

So Norberto knows his step son's love is not very far removed from her past. Would Danny kill Norberto?

OK. I added the scene between Acacia and Este in the recap.

Diana- Yes, Acacia did say the right thing to Este. Let's see how long she keeps it up.

Niecie- I cut both Carmen and Cris slack for wanting to protect their kids and not being totally rational about it. And I thought what Cris said about Acacia and Uli's chances at a healthy relationship right now was wise.

I actually partly blame Uli for Cris thinking that he was ever at fault for any of the previous blowups/breakups with Acacia, because even when Acacia was at fault, he was always the one who came begging and apologizing to her and her family. All Cris sees is a relationship and a guy who has been nothing but drama from the start. It's not shocking to me that she's not putting her stamp of approval on them giving it a 4th try.

As for Danilo protecting Ale, well...no one hurts Dan's women, except DAN! In that way, I'm sure he's better than a lot of other pimps who would let other men mistreat their girls. I can tell that Dan would have any his johns swiftly removed from this earth if they dared to commit any of the abuses Dan dishes out to them when he isn't pleased. I'm sure that is a vast improvement over some of the men, johns, and pimps Perla had before Dan found her.

Susanlynn- Well, there are plenty of people who know Dan's dirt and who might be tempted to turn on him, except for the fact that they would also likely go down with him.

Tofie- Thanks, amiga! Cris told Hector not to talk with Acacia about Ulises, a subject he quickly wrapped up by advising her about her jealousy to to just chill and give things time. She said nothing about speaking about Alonso or Esteban. It's fair game.

I am watching the show right now. yes, Este was definitely Estesmug when he was talking to Damnilo. Wait until he finds out who and what Damnilo really is. who's zooming who ? I hope those two bring each other down. that would be so satisfying.

I noticed that Damnilo was smarming all over Perla and another of his employees at the big Ho-down. Memo was dancing with a girl and giving Damn a very dirty look when he was slobbering on Perla's throat. Yuck . Damn and Perla seem to have a very sick codependent relationship.

That dress Damn gave to Ale looked like one of Esther Williams' swimsuits. Ale does look especially beautiful in cobalt blue and seems to wear that color often. It is one of my favorite colors , and I have several cardigans and tops in that color.

The ceiling in the room that Este and Chris were staying in looked like brick..very unusual. He did manage to look surprised when Chris finally told him about the bebe, but I am not surprised because he has been hiding his true murdering nature from Chris ever since he killed Alonso. Asshat.

Vivi "As for Danilo protecting Ale, well...no one hurts Dan's women, except DAN!" That is right. They are his personal property, his to use and abuse as he pleases. The fact that Perla sees him as anything akin to a protector makes me absolutely sick.

Susanlynn, I think that whoever takes Danilo down won't be anyone who has been complicit with his crimes with the possible exception of Memo. I would love to see Hector bring him down and be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Of course, if someone takes him out permanently, justice would be served.

Diana

Diana- I'm still thinking about what you said earlier about Juliana and Norberto. Was she really the happy, joyful person Andres knew, or was it partly an act? Since she has mooned over Andres all these years, I am willing to believe that she truly loved him and they had a beautiful romance. It seems to me that he brought out the best in her. But I thinks she has always had a selfish, greedy, shallow nature as well. In her flashbacks, we see that she was also not happy with his financial prospects at the time, and it didn't just seem like it was the pressure from her parents. She shared their values. She could have chosen Andres. No one was holding a gun to her head or threatening to kill her loved ones, like Ale. She chose Norberto and his money of her own free will. And it seems at the time he absolutely adored her and pampered her.

The problem is that she and Norb bring out the absolute worst in each other. And the more she pulls away, the more he tries to hang on. It results in a sick and abusive relationship, where they both enjoy inflicting pain on the other. While they actually share similar values (me, me, me, money, money, money), these are two people who should have never married each other.

I forgot to mention that at the end of the scene where she tells Norb she never loved him, she also tells him he's unrefined/uncouth and isn't even close to Andres' level.

Thanks for the recap!

First I have to ask: was it just me or did anyone else think/notice that a possible body double was used in place of the real VR during the Este/Cris love scene?

At first I was surprised that someone was on Acacia's side concerning her opinion about Ulises. But I guess I'm not surprised it was Elena. I wonder if Acacia will try to talk to Ulises.

I liked to see Germán finally regard Andres as his father. Still it might take him a little longer to naturally call him dad but I think he will get there. I'm fascinated as to why the wardrobe people had Germán in pink but he looked good in it.

Norbie and Juli clearly have a dysfunctional marriage. They both are basically punishing each other. Juli is now realizing that leaving Andres because he was poor is now her worse mistake seeing as how he's now better off than Norbie.

I figured that sooner or later Norbie would recognize Ale as Turquesa. I'm surprised Dan convinced him not to tell Germán. At first I was surprised that Dan agreed that Germán shouldn't know but then I realized how that benefits Dan. I liked how Ale told Dan that even though Germán is with someone else that she will never stop loving him.

Big Sexy looked good in that bright pink shirt. He wiped his eyes when Andres was talking to him. The hug was sweet.

I noticed that Ack was wearing the same color dress as the hoochiemama dress that Damn gave to Ale...just as tight and just as short.

Ack seems to really be going to Hector for advice lately. Good. Maybe he can open her eyes to Este's obsession with her.

Vivi, I suspect I am in a generous mood today as I am not only willing to give Acacia the benefit of the doubt, but am reassessing Juli's character and am not feeling quite as harshly toward her as I have previously.

Yes, Juli always craved money and aspired for "the good life". However, I believe that part of the reason she married Norberto is that her father was ill and they needed money also. So her reason weren't entirely self centered.

Perhaps I'm being naive, but I don't think we can hide who we really are from those we love and who love us. We can try to charm, to be on our best behavior but inevitably, we come to be seen for our strengths, our weaknesses, admirable qualities and warts alike.

There must have been obvious elements of her selfish, self centered character when she was with Andres. I have no doubt she did love him. However, Andres is a shrewd man and if she was faking her affection or if she was pretending to be someone much nicer, I am sure he would have sensed it. He was truly heartbroken when she left him.

The tragedy is that she did choose to marry Norberto. You are totally correct in that theirs is an abusive, destructive relationship. While Juli can lay some of the blame at Norberto's feet, she must understand she is culpable as well and has a lot to atone for.

Unfortunately, she does not appear to be on any kind of redemption path. It's a shame as she has a wonderful son and another who needs her guidance to make something of himself and his life.

Diana

TF, yes. Body double for certain.

For a second, I wondered if it were Acacia, but I don't think so.

Diana

Susanlynn it was brick, usually it has a stucco covering but I have stayed at a hotel in Mexico west of the city about an hours drive that had the exposed brick. I wanted to see some outdoor shots to confirm if it was the same place

Do you guys think that male tn actors become immune to all those boobs and legs on display? Just watching some of the scenes last night with Acacia, Perla, and Ale, while they are chatting and arguing with various men, and no eyes stray. Do you think when the cameras stop rolling that these guys are just as capable of keeping their eyes on their colleagues' faces? I feel like I would be distracted if I were a man, no matter how long I had been in the business. I guess you just get used to it.

All I know is, as I watch this show my hubby lingers a little longer when one of the girls clack across the room in a dress they've been poured into

VIvi...I think that it depends on the guy. We have all known guys who just cannot keep their eyes on a woman's FACE even if she is wearing a turtleneck. for those guys...it never gets old.

Vivi, Some likely don't notice or don't care as they have been in the business a long time and have become immune.

Some may leer inwardly but be professional and keep their thoughts to themselves. If any wandering eyes have occurred as you noted, the cameras haven't captured it as far as I have seen.

But if there is any kind of attraction, I dare say the feelings are enhanced if a character has to dress where their charms and assets are obvious and on display.

I'm sure it is somewhat of a contributing factor to some of the off air romances.

Diana

Susanlynn the hotel I stayed was Posada Del Tepozteco in Tepoztlan that had the brick ceilings

Tofie- I don't blame your husband!

I guess the guys just get used to it, but like you say Diana, if you're already attracted to your co-worker, it's just one more thing that heightens the attraction.

I loved that hotel room ceiling. How wonderful that you stayed in that hotel or one like it, Tofie!

As for the body double during the love scene, I noticed it too. But I remember being surprised by how hot the love scenes between VR and Osvaldo Rios were in Triunfo del Amor, and hearing that she got flack for it because her husband is a prominent politician. Maybe she decided she's too old for it, or her husband is too high profile for it.

Fun fact. VR's full name is: Maria Victoria Eugenia Guadalupe Martínez del Río Moreno-Ruffo de Fayad

Whew!

Thanks, tofie. I have always been interested in architecture. Was the hotel very old ? I have never been to Mexico, but I loved the old buildings in Florence. The whole city is like a museum. I took many pictures of the massively beautiful front doors.

I will have to review my recording of the episode to see the body double. I must confess that I am a multitasker, so I never just sit and watch the episode. I am always doing something else,..like correcting tests or reading the paper or addressing Christmas cards.

WOW! Thank you Vivi. Your writing goes above and beyond.
Danilo presents Ale with a hoochie
mama dress.

Manuel doesn't want to take charge because farming isn't his thing. German wonders what is his thing?

Cris and Este arrive home and Cris falls right into the Acacia
vortex of angst and tears.

Acacia then takes her tears on the road to meet Hector for coffee.
Vivi---the list could get longer
but I will try to leave some room for others.

Vivi---I guess that your sister got hooked just like many of us did. Knowing Spanish is not a requirement but it does help. My guess is that your sister will be joining the La Malquerida grupo soon.

For those that like love story dramas , this show just reaches out and pulls you in. Niece said it---LM is the best show in town and I completely agree. I don't know what Telemundo has (I can't watch them all) but for Univision, this is the best. I love Maite Perroni and her rise up from the garbage dump---I am loving the trials and tribulations
of the Ripoll family and their chocolate factory---and am also liking all of the problems that Ana has helping to run and control
a large family over at Mi Corazon
but LM is by far the best, it's a big winner for sure.

So Acacia is trying to get EsteStalker to back off. We'll see how hard she tries during their next tongue tango. Wasn't there another lip lock in the advances?
the gringo

Hey Gringo! Thanks, amigo. Luckily, my sister doesn't like spending time online, so I get to keep this site to myself. However, she does know that I write recaps and post them online a few times a week, but she hasn't been curious enough (yet) to check it out. :)

I'm not sure if the tongue tango was a memory or not, but I'm sure it won't be the only kiss between them. They both are dying to double dip. It's just a matter of when, not if.

Susanlynn- I forgot to say what a chuckle I got out of Ho-Down. LOL! Wish I had thought of that. :)

The main building, including the restaurant and terraced grounds was an old spanish home (not 3 or 400), when I was there 17 years ago they had added about 6 additional suites in the same style. This little mountain town is popular with weekenders from Mexico. I was there climbing to the top of every pyramid I could find. Every evening the towns folk and those hearty enough make a steep climb to the top of one of the peaks. If you like Spanish colonial style check out Antigua Guatemala

Diana, I didn't think that Esteban would be imagining he was with Acacia instead of Cris. If he was they would've showed Acacia's face not her back. And the hair on the double was definitely not Acacia's/Ariadne's.

Vivi, I think that the older actors like Alberto Estrella and Christian Meier and professionals so they are used to seeing the actresses they work with having to look sexy and such. I mentioned before how I was surprised at how professional actors like them are when working opposite an actress who's much younger. Obviously Ariadne and África are in their late 20s while Christian is in his 40s and Alberto in his 50s.

gringo, I'm not sure we'll see an Acacia/Esteban liplock tonight but she still got ants in them pants for the guy and it will happen again or they'll really give us something to talk about.

TF, I didn't mean to imply Este was fantasizing about Cris, only that I thought the actress playing Acacia might have been the body double. After a quick double take, I agree that it wasn't.

If I were lucky enough to be working with Alberto Estrella, (who is actually younger than I in real life), I would have a hard time concentrating. Period. What charisma. What an actor! Sigh.

Diana

I mean Este wasn't fantasizing about Acacia.

Diana

Tofie- I see you are coming to my town! If you want to/have time, I would love to take you out for coffee/tea/drinks and we can dish in real life. I've had the pleasure of taking out a few other Caraymates when they come to town. If I don't catch you, have a fab time, but email if you need anything, ok. (Just click on my avatar and you should be able to email me.)

Ok Diana, I understand what you're saying. I agree that Alberto is extremely talented. I've only seen him in a couple TNs but I can see that he really gets into character.

The show is just too good as well as the comments from it's fans to say everything that you would like to in one shot---so, part two

I read that Rubio is incapable of betraying Este. The gringo says, oh just wait. The bad guys will be all turning on each other soon
and Rubio is in it for Rubio. He's not afraid of Este. Besides,
Rubio might be smaller in stature
but he carries a machete and during the end game, he would use it.

The bad guys turning on each other? Did it start last night with Norberto and Danny? Norberto has a short fuse and thinks that he is tough bur Dan is the only one with devil as part of his name and also he has the video.

Have you guys noticed how every time Acacia cries, Manuel jumps up or runs over to comfort her and tell her that he's there for her. He makes me sick but he's playing his part well. If he wins, Rancho Buenavente will be the prize but like his father, it would be a loveless marriage.

Susanlynn---At the big Ho-Down. So funny. I guess that it was a Ho Down but not the country music type that's for sure.

Tofie---As soon as I had read your first four words, none of Hectors business, I knew it was you. Maybe I am not as perceptive
as you are but I have never seen shifty eyes. I see Hector as the good guy on the white horse. He sure did ask Acacia the right questions. Maybe he got her to think.

Talking about shifty/crazy eyes. When Esteban learned that Ulises was free, I thought that he would have to go see an eye doctor. His
eyes almost came unglued.

Susanlynn---So you like architecture and old hotels.
You will love the Mission Inn in Riverside California. www.missioninn.com There is a great photo section and on other websites as well. There is the Hearst Castle in California and also Scotty's Castle in Death Valley California. All three are magnificent and have a great story/history behind them.

I can't wait for tonight. Will Ulises stand up to Stalker Este?

Gringo. I've stayed at the Mission many times.

Oh Vivi, thanks for the invite but my schedule is crammed. Maybe next time.

gringo, yes. Manuel is mastering the same trick of being omnipresent, joining Rubio and Danilo (very questionable company).

I was pleased that not only did Uli tell Acacia off, but he did so very definitively.

From Uli's angry facial expression at seeing Este at his door, I would be shocked if he doesn't assault Este verbally and tell him what a despicable person he is.

I can only hope.

TF, did you see Pasion?

If so, you will understand the Estrella allure. :)

Tofie---When I was in the Air Force Reserves we had to train once a month at March AFB in Riverside. The base didn't have room for reservists so they put us up in motels nearby. The Mission Inn was on the list but none of the airmen wanted to go there, they wanted the modern Holiday Inn and Howard Johnsons, those kind of places. I used to ask for the Mission Inn. I thought that it was fabulous. I used to wander around and take in the beautiful architecture of early California. I treasured every minute of it. I will never forget that place.

Tofie- No worries. Have fun! I think we're in for a few "warm" days, so it should be nice.

Gringo- Yes, Manuel makes time to be Acacia's shadow, per his dad's orders, but can't seem to find the time to work. Hmm...

Diana,

No I didn't see that one. The first time I saw AE was in Entre El Amor Y El Odio. UniMas reaired it about a year or two ago. Sabine Moussier was also in it. They both played the villains. I think AE's character in that was more evil than Danilo.

Vivi, thanks so much for your always excellent and fabulous recap.

My favorite part of last night's epi was Uli telling Acacia goodbye forever. I really hope that Uli does not reunite with Acacia. She has been totally selfish in their relationship. She thinks that because she let Uli be her first, he should always forgive her. She is bratty and naive. Uli is a good guy and deserves better.

I have one question. The other night Este asked Rubio to tell him about the "casa de sitas" on the outskirts of town, but I don't remember them going back to that scene. Also, why would Este be asking about it?

Hasta pronto!

Hi AuntyAnn. That is a mystery that the writers have left for another time. I am thinking it is probably linked to the smug, all knowing look on Este's face when he was speaking with Dan.

Vivi, thanks for the info on that scene. I thought I had lost part of the recording.

Gracias!

Hello, Hello, hello everyone and thanks as always Vivid Vivi. I love your colorful details of your recaps.
Dear TF, the only reason I am glued to this tn is because of the superb performance of Estrella and Moussier(ENtre el Amor) and now as Perla and Danilo. For some reason they are so funny together.
I hate the pervert, and the victim and the sordid love they have for each other.
I have no sympathy for both of them. Eww and yuck!!!!Anne
