La Malquerida #89, 12/29/2014: He’s Baaaaaaaaack!!!

Mexico Episode #95

The Old: German proposes to Lizzy because her daddy caught them doing the do—she rejects him. Este’s bill at the hotel has come due, he’s maxed out, his business partner pops up wanting payment and makes threats about calling his lawyer. Cris is missing Este, and Elena encourages her to reach out. She calls him and they agree to meet.

The New:
Rosa walks into her and Luisa’s room just in time to hear Acacia ask Luisa if the baby she’s carrying is Manuel’s. Rosa freaks out, grabs and jerks Luisa’s arm, and is about to slap her into next week, when Acacia stops her by yelling that Luisa is in danger of losing the baby. Rosa pulls back from the physical violence, but goes into a verbal lament about the shame of having a young, unmarried granddaughter. She then asks Luisa to tell her who is the father of her baby. With the questioning eyes of both Acacia and Rosa on her, Luisa isn’t able to get any words out. In walks her Principe Azul, Arturo, who proudly proclaims that HE is the father!

Elena asks Cristina if she’s spoken to Esteban. It hurts to see two people who love each other fighting so much. Cris says she called him and they agreed to meet, but she’s cautious about whether there will actually be a reconciliation.

Rosa rips into Arturo. She trusted him with her granddaughter! Luisa says it wasn’t Art’s fault. It was hers for… “For forgetting all the values I taught you!”, Rosa interjects. She points out that Luisa is going to end up a single mother (madre soltera) just like Rosa warned her about. Art interjects and says Luisa won’t be a single mother because he wants to marry Luisa. Acacia observes this whole drama from the corner, as Luisa cautiously looks over at her, but doesn’t reveal the truth. Rosa wants to know if they are aware of how much it costs to raise a child. And where will they live? Art says that Luisa’s…their child will want for nothing. Acacia finally excuses herself, and Rosa begs her not to tell Cris. Cris is paying for Luisa’s education and Rosa doesn’t know how she’ll face Cris with the shame. Luisa begs Rosa to forgive her. She knows she let Rosa down, but right now the most important thing is to make sure her baby survives (lograrse).

Ulises arrives at Dan’s house and asks Julianita for Perla—he has important news for her, and while he’s here, he’ll visit Ale too. J-nita tells him Perla isn’t around, but wants to know what the exciting news is. He hems a bit, but then has the perfect excuse. The location Perla originally wanted for her spa has come open (since Juliana is taking the cash and ditching Manuel’s biz). J-nita almost blabs that Perla won’t be needing it anymore since she’s about to run off, but Ale gives her a look to shut her up. Uli asks J-nita for some coffee in order to get Ale alone. Once they are alone, he asks if Dan’s cotton bodega is where they kept the drugs. Ale doesn’t know for sure—all she knows is that place is a half hour drive from here. Uli is now certain that he was held captive in Dan’s cotton/drug bodega. He wants to go to the police with this evidence (what evidence?) and have Dan locked up!

Rosa agrees that the most important thing is the baby right now, and says that as soon as possible, they have to get married! Art agrees. Rosa frets about what she’ll tell Cris. Luisa says they’ve agreed to tell Cris and everyone that she’s suffering from exhaustion (agotamiento). “Exhaustion! Is that what they’re calling it these days?!” Rosa leaves the room, arguing and fussing all the way. Art tries to reassure Luisa that all will be well, and says he told Rosa that he’s the father and they are getting married so that Luisa could be tranquil, as she needs to be for the baby. He suggests they marry for appearances, and they can divorce at a later time. Luisa refuses. She can’t do to her child what was done to German.

Uli doesn’t understand why Dan had him kidnapped and nor does Ale—but she realizes that there are still many things she doesn’t know about him. Uli takes her arm and insists that she leave with him, right now! Ale refuses. She can’t take the risk, and it’s not because she loves him- she hates him! But she can’t leave until she knows for sure that he’s been arrested. Uli presses to know why. Ale admits it’s because Dan has threatened to kill German and all those that she loves. Uli naively thinks that the police won’t let any harm come to anyone. He insists again that she leave with him. Ale admits that last time she escaped, Dan killed her mom. She knows Dan and knows they have to proceed with caution. Plus, she has a little girl to care for. She can’t go into details because J-nita comes back and starts setting out the coffee on the table. They begin to whisper. She begs him not to tell German, because he would do something crazy. Ale mentions that she has no way of communicating right now, so Uli gives her his cell phone, which she hides behind the curtains before J-nita sees it. Uli then takes his leave quickly, apologizing to J-nita for being unable to stay for coffee, as his office called him. J-nita swoons over his guapo-ness.

Art points out that Luisa’s situation isn’t the same as Juliana’s. Luisa isn’t marrying him for money, plus he doesn’t have any. And she’s not taking advantage of him. Luisa points out how painful it was for German to find out the truth, and how awful it was for him to grow up with Norberto treating him and Manuel differently. Art asks if she thinks he would do something like that. Luisa knows he wouldn’t, but she doesn’t want to obligate him (comprometerse). She thanks him but says her answer is no. Art asks her not to make the decision now. He’ll give her time. He takes her hand and asks her to think about it, then leaves. Luisa cries.

In the kitchen, Acacia tries to calm Rosa who’s crying as she cooks. Acacia points out that this is her great-grandchild, and Luisa and Art care about each other. Rosa always wanted Luisa to marry a man that she loves, but not like this. She wanted Luisa to have a different future, but now she’ll have to work hard to maintain her child. Acacia says that Luisa can go back and finish college after the baby is a bit older. Rosa says they all say that, until they pop out one baby after another. Acacia assures her that Art won’t let that happen, plus the baby has all of them to care for him/her. They hug.

Clueless about what’s going on in the servants’ quarters and the kitchen and that Acacia is home, Elena asks Cris if she’s spoken to Acacia. Cris says she spoke to her in the morning, but doesn’t want to get her hopes up about Esteban until she’s spoken with him. Cris heads off to meet her bastard husband, just before Acacia enters the room. Acacia tells Elena that she’s back to see Luisa who’s sick from exhaustion, but she’s going back to San Jacinto as soon as Luisa is stable.

Este makes a purchase at the Soto Mart, and barely comes up with enough cash to give Lizzy. He sees the newspaper article about the art exposition and makes chit-chat with Lizzy about it—all the while giving the evil eye to the photos of Cris with Hector, and Acacia with Manuel.

Memo and Perla have a happy reunion and have lunch. Perla wants to escape right now with the money J-nita gave her, but Memo wants to get some more money first, likely from Pat’s family. He refuses her offer to “work” to earn it. They laugh and smooch.

Uli makes another anonymous call to the police, this time telling the police the source of the drugs from the recent drug bust.

Este calls Acacia while he’s waiting for Cris.
E: I just wanted to know how you are.
A: It seems that you don’t understand, right? Forget about me!
E: Let’s see if you don’t regret it later.
A: Enough already!
E: That’s what I wanted to say to you. Goodbye, Acacia.

He hangs up and greets Cris with a kiss to the cheek. Then he begins to lay on the b.s. with a heavy trowel. He says he knows she defended Ulises for Acacia’s sake. She apologizes to him. He begins the fake tears and speaks about how much it hurt to lose his child and to now be losing her. He says he saw the picture of her and Hector at the expo, and it filled him with jealousy. “I didn’t know that you could forget our love and our commitment so quickly.” (Excuse me while I vomit.) He continues how much it hurt his heart and soul to lose a woman like her, whom he still loves. Cris says she regrets having put the distance between them. Este asks if there is still a chance for them. Cris says it’s what she most wants and tells him she loves him. He says he loves her more and kisses her, while shedding (fake) tears. Blech!

Acacia brings Luisa soup in bed and tells her how happy she is for her, but scolds her for not using protection. She asks if Luisa really wants to marry Arturo. Luisa says she doesn’t know. It all happened so fast, and she’s so out of sorts (sacada/o de onda) right now. Acacia says she should talk to Art, but also points out what a good/standup guy he is. Luisa asks Acacia not to mention to Manuel that she’s pregnant. Acacia agrees, but wants to know why.

Art has gone to see Papa Andres in his doctor’s office. Art tells him that Luisa is not sure about getting married—she wants to finish school and start her career first. “Well you both should have thought of that before having sex. Or you both should have used protection….Son, even if you don’t get married, you have to be present in your child’s life. I don’t want what happened to me to happen to you. I was unable to enjoy time with German.” Art says that won’t happen, and Andres offers him any help he might need. Art asks Andres to keep it a secret. Andres agrees, but tells him not to keep it from his mother for too long, because very soon Luisa won’t be able to hide her pregnancy.

Luisa tells Acacia she just doesn’t want Manuel to think that Art is just marrying her because she’s pregnant, and she really doesn’t want anyone to know right now. Acacia promises, and says they will all chip in while she’s on bed rest to make sure Rosa doesn’t work too hard. Luisa thanks her and asks her to not leave. Acacia promises to stay, because Luisa is like a sister to her and she wants to be close to her nephew/niece. Acacia sighs sadly and Luisa asks what’s wrong. Acacia says she just realized that Uli is the baby’s blood uncle, and she will have to be near him because of the baby. Luisa wants to know if Uli is the reason she ran off to San Jacinto. Acacia says she had a lot of feelings to sort out, but she has come to realize that she’s not worthy of Uli’s love. Luisa thinks it’s just because she testified against Uli, but she believes he’ll understand she did it out of spite. Acacia says it’s not just that. He wouldn’t forgive her if he knew she let herself get carried away and… Acacia stops herself from revealing her greatest sin, and instead says that Uli made it very clear he never wants to get back together with her. She’s happy that Luisa is going to be happy with her baby and the man she loves.

Dan gets home, and immediately manhandles Ale, wondering who let her out of the room. She says she was let out to give Estrella her medicine since no one else wants to get infected. Dan then demands to know where Perla is, and Ale is saved by the police coming to the open door wanting to talk to Danilo. The police say it’s about the house where he stores his crops.

(Where’s my vomit bucket?!) OK. We peek in on Esteban and Cris, post-nookie in his hotel room. She’s aglow. He says he’s missed her SO much. She doesn’t want to spend one more night without him at the hacienda. He disingenuously asks if she’s sure, because he wants to go back, but it would really hurt him if she threw him out again.

Dan nervously stutters and asks the police if there is some problem and what they are looking for. The police show him the warrant and refuse to answer any questions. They just want him to come along with them to the bodega. Dan forces a reluctant Ale to come with him, as a worried Julianita watches them all leave from around the corner.

At the bodega, the police pull the desk and carpet aside to reveal the secret trap door. Dan says there’s nothing but cotton stored down there.

Ulises opens up his new phone and explains to Art that he gave his old one to Ale—he’ll give him his new number. He tells Art that Ale is with Dan because of threats, but won’t go into the details of those threats for Art’s security. He is hopeful that soon, with his call to the police, Dan will be arrested and Ale will be free.

Dan takes the police downstairs, and they find…stacks and stacks of cotton. The police do spot searches, poking and ripping apart packages of cotton to see if drugs are hidden inside. Dan says they should be investigating the REAL criminals! Ha! He complains that someone is trying to defame him—this is the second false accusation laid against him. He accuses his wife’s ex-boyfriend, German Palacios, of being the culprit. Ale says German has no reason to do that. The police continue their search, and Dan goes berserk, ripping the cotton apart and yelling at the police that he’s an honorable man.

Cris and Este return to the hacienda and start smooching in the living room. Acacia walks in and is frozen in shock. Este sees Acacia and greets her with a shit-eating grin. Acacia cops a sour attitude, makes a sarcastic comment about how quickly they’ve reconciled, and says if the two of them are happy, that’s the only thing that matters to her. She quickly leaves. Cris looks concerned. Este tries to suppress a grin.

Dan pulls Ale aside while the police search and orders her not to contradict him in front of people, while poking her head and telling her how dumb she is. She wants to know why he brought her along then. She was his guarantee, his escape plan—had the police found anything, he would have used her as a hostage. He wants her to shut up until they get home, and he WILL find the rat who sold him out to the police.

Cris is confused. She thought Acacia would be happy that they got back together since she was the one encouraging Cris to seek Esteban out and reconcile. Este says it’s normal, with so many changes Acacia has had to get used to in a short amount of time. He kisses Cris. Cris agrees that Acacia has been going through a lot lately—she even went to San Jacinto for a few days to clear her head. Cris wants to speak to her now, but Este encourages her to wait for Acacia to assimilate it on her own for a bit, and speak to her tomorrow. Right now, he wants the two of them to lock themselves up in their bedroom, with dinner in bed, and…you get the picture.

Julianita calls Perla and gives her the update on the police visit. If Perla intends to come back, she better do it before Dan comes back from the bodega. Memo thinks one of the undocumented workers must have ratted them out to the police. Perla is sure the police won’t find anything, since Dan had Flaco and Efrain clean out the place after the drug bust. Memo tells Perla she has to go back. The police will be investigating and if they find her with him, she’d go to jail too. Perla refuses, but Memo says she needs to and he’ll send for her when he can. For now, she can’t say anything, and she can’t run any risks. At least if she’s with Dan, he knows where to find her. Perla cries. Memo knows that soon they’ll realize that he’s not among the dead, and he knows Dan will be looking for him to kill him. He doesn’t know how, but he will get her out of there. He kisses her forehead and asks her to trust him.

Manuel tells German "I told you so" about proposing to Lizzy. Manuel points out that Lizzy loves German so much, that she turned him down. German feels even worse now for the way he proposed to her. And it hurts him that she broke up with him.

Dan throws Ale onto the couch and says he hopes she’s not the one who informed to the police, because she will regret ever being born!

Lizzy’s dad is still hopping mad about catching her and German doing the deed. Lizzy says what happened was what they BOTH wanted. He thinks she’s acting like a loose woman, but she says she’s acting like a woman in love. (This scene is going on entirely too long. Nothing against Lizzy and her dad, but I just don’t care about them.) Long story short—he thinks she’s nuts for turning down the marriage proposal and breaking her poor, dying mother’s heart. She doesn’t want German to marry her out of obligation.

Dan twists Ale’s arm and drags her upstairs to the bedroom, accusing her of being the one who betrayed him. Ale denies, denies, denies. How could she be the one, when he doesn’t allow her to talk to or see anyone? He starts ripping apart the drawers of the nightstand and armoire looking for evidence of her betrayal. He’s SURE it was her. Ale asks how he can be so sure, when he has so many enemies who could have done it. He raises his fist to her, and she not only dares him to hit her again, but also screams at him to KILL HER! She pounds his chest, screaming at him to kill her, and he grabs tight hold of her and asks if she’s crazy. He won’t kill her because she is HIS, ALL HIS! He grabs hold of her clenched fists and kisses them. In fact, he’s going to put several of his properties in HER name. That way, if he falls, she falls too. He tells her to calm down, he’s going to see Perla. After he leaves, Ale sobs with a mix of fear, relief, and desperation.

Acacia is in her room crying in frustration and confusion, and calling herself stupid. Este waltzes right in like he owns the place.
A: What do you want?
E: To talk to you.
A: For what? Obviously what happened with me was a lie! You’ve already gotten back together with my mother, right?
E:  Why do you say it like that? Don’t tell me you’re jealous. (He caresses her cheek and the corner of her mouth.)

In the kitchen, Cris is fixing a snack tray to bring to her asshole, cheating husband. Rosa is happy for them both. She offers to bring their dinner tray to them later, but Cris thinks she should let Luisa do it. Rosa tells Cris about Luisa’s “exhaustion” and bed rest, and apologizes for Luisa. Cris says it’s not Luisa’s fault and offers to help however she can.

Acacia denies being jealous. Este says she knows what was between them was real, but wants to know why Acacia is reacting this way if she’s not jealous. Acacia says she’s angry that he has the audacity (descaro) to show up here and get back together with her mother, when just last night he told her… “Yes. I told you that I love you. And you spurned (despreciar) me.” He once again caresses her cheek and the edge of her lips, and says it doesn’t matter that he loves her if she is spurning his love, and that’s left him no other choice but to return to Cris. Acacia takes his hands and asks him how it’s possible for him to go back to Cris after what’s happened between them (he and Acacia)? Este says there was once a lot of love between him and Cris, and he’s going to work to bring it back. He leaves her sobbing alone. (Who in Viewerville feels bad for Acacia? *crickets*)

Avances: Cris and Este continue the romance. Acacia confronts Este and says he can’t be with her mother. Este asks what she thinks she can do about it. I am 99.99% sure that Acacia does NOT have the courage to tell Cris just what kind of man she’s let come back to her bed.

Hello Malquerida Peeps! Gloria has a migraine, so I'm filling in tonight. Still no chopping of episodes (and really, how could they, with all this stuff happening?!), so I am really confused how they will wrap this up by the 16th.

Gringo- I answered your question about what was said between Perla and Ale that sparked the fight in the late comments on Gloria's recap. I also added what happened in the last few minutes of the last episode.

Oh believe me, this is nothing, half of it is yet to come before it could wrap up ;)

Anon- I'm sure the writers of La Malquerida have lots in store for us in the final 21 episodes. The question is, what will Uni choose to show us in the 12 remaining nights they have allotted it?!

I know Diana and Susanlynn are traveling. Is everyone else still sleeping and resting up for New Year's Eve tomorrow?

VIVI!!! FanTAStic!! I'm so late for work, but had to check in. I fell asleep right at the very beginning. DARN!!!

Oh my gosh. I feel so sick at this turn of events for both Cris and Ale. These two men are scum of the earth...AND...you are SO right. Who in the world cares about Acacia?! CRICKETS!!!

Now, must go. Can't check in at work as we are closely monitored, but will stop in after work!

Thank you, thank you, thank you Vivi in DC!!!!! OUR SUPER AMIGA!

Gotta say it one more time: What a SICKENING turn of events.

Fatima

Vivi..thanks so much for filling in for Gloria.
Gloria..I hope that you are feeling better.

Luckily, the B & B has Uni so I was able watch this episode.

It was funny watching the cotton flying all over the place while the police were checking for drugs. We all knew that it was not going to be so easy bringing Damnilo,to justice. Now, I am worrying about what he might do to Ale, Uli, and German. Would Esteawful stand up to him if he starts going after people Este knows ? I am sure that Norb would try to protect German.
Vivi,,,you picked the perfect adjective to describe Este's grin. He is despicable and so is Aack for not warning her mother about the kind of man Este truly is.
I have no idea where this plot is heading , but it looks as though things are going to get nasty.

Well, hub and I are enjoying a few brief days of being pampered before returning to reality and taking care of others. The Christmas decorations at the inn are beautiful.

Many thanks Vivi and I hope you are feeling better Gloria!

I haven't watched the episode yet, but the recap is so vivid I feel like I have watched.

Art is a prince. I love him and hope Luisa does develop deep feelings for him.

Great Vivi, so much happened and you got it all.

(Where’s my vomit bucket?!)

Help me with Luisa's logic. She doesn't want her child to grow up like German, doesn't believe Art like Norberto, yet she protects Manuel and will not let anyone know he is the father. Does she have some silly notion the guy will one day want her?

And, Art, my gosh, I get the nobility of wanting to protect Luisa but the girl doesn't love him and he too, is covering for Manuel, so the real father doesn't have to do shit.

I'll give it to Esteban, he's good at playing Cris.

Acacia was playing a game, she doesn't want an available Esteban, but her mother can't have him. I don't think it is because, what he did to Cris, but him around is a constant reminder of what she did to her mother and the burning lust she has for Esteban despite her mother.

I can't really understand Memo's logic, Perla has left and why send her back and have to rescue her. Just the both of you leave that one horse town.

Thanks Fatima, Susanlynn, Sara, and Tofie!

Susanlynn- How awesome that the B&B has Uni. :) Your hubby is probably shaking his head in disbelief.

Fatima- Have a great day at work. I am still enjoying my vacation. We'll see you later. Looking forward to your comments. It really is a sickening turn of events with Este, but although Dan wasn't caught this time, I have hope that his end is coming soon now that Ale and Uli are united.

Sara- I too wish Luisa could realize that she needs to snap Art up.

Tofie- I certainly can't explain Memo's logic, other than some stupid macho thing about needing to find/provide lots of money for their escape. As for Luisa and Art- I understand desire not to be exposed as an irresponsible idiot for boinking Manuel (she just looks irresponsible boinking Art, but not like an idiot), nor wanting to go for round four in the ring with Juli, Norb, and Manuel; and I get Art just wanting to protect Luisa and the baby. No way they can keep up this lie, but it buys them a few more days or weeks before things really blow up.

Tofie...so true...Perla returning to Dan's is a super stupid idea. it is just going to put her in Dan's grasp again. However, intelligence is not the quality that attracted her to Memo. This is not going to end well for either of them. Here comes Dan and his cane. 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

Este is unbelievable ...what a wheeling dealing snake he is. I, too, felt like I was going to hurl watching him all snug in that king sized bed ....and Cris fixing him some nibbles..Blleecchh. When Cris and Ack find out that he killed Alonso , how will they both handle this news ?🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅

Vivi, thanks for filling in for Gloria.

Just loved your comments; you really had me laughing. Also loved your translations.

At one point when Cris and Este were making out I could swear Este almost broke into laughter with his B.S.

This novella has me really chomping at the bit. I hope they aren't too bad with the chopping. I look so to every episode.

Feel better Gloria.

Ann-NYC

Thanks Vivi---I got your late comment yesterday and thanks for helping out for Gloria today.
Why can't modern medicine stop a migraine? I have never had one but people say that they are just terrible and nothing seems to help

Hang in there Gloria.

A lot of great lines today Vivi---
Cris heads off to meet her bastard husband.

Yes I agree that Este sure did lay it on with a heavy trowel.

Acacia walks in and is frozen in shock--Este tries to suppress a grin. Christian Meier is good with facial expressions.

Who feels bad for Acacia? CRICKETS
Yes, I think that even Acacia could hear the crickets chirping after that question was asked.

So all of a sudden, Luisa is stricken with exhaustion. I know that Luisa and Rosa have to come up with something but I ask, exhaustion from what?

Tofie---I can't understand Memo's logic either. Neither of them are all that smart. They're both going down. No happy happy for these two.

We never saw Ale retrieve Uli's phone from behind the curtain. I hope that it doesn't ring.

Another close one with raging Dan close to finding the dvd's. I'm holding my breath. How about under the bed, Danilo won't turn the bed up side down. Maybe the mattress but not the bed.

Uli is in too much of a hurry. He had better slow down before he gets Ale killed.
the gringo

I wonder if Acacia has been thinking that if she hooks up with Esteban they will have to start budgeting or start putting aside a little money for trips to the pharmacy to buy Viagra? How long will it be before Esteban will start needing that?
the gringo

Thanks for the recap! Hope Gloria feels better. Migraines suck.

Honestly I don't even know where to start. I think I'm just going to "wing" my comment here.

Este literally has mother and daughter wrapped around his fingers. He sure is enjoying manipulating them. He probably doesn't enjoy doing the deed with Cris, but he just does it to get back at Acacia.

I was wondering if it would've be a good idea for Art to tell Andres the truth. I think Andres would've understood. It's Luisa's choice not to tell Manuel. I think Andres would've kept quiet and not confront Juli and Norbie about it. The truth will have to be told eventually.

I hope Ale and Uli are careful. It was funny seeing Dan trying to look innocent. But I guess he was smart for having the place cleaned out.

TF, agree, and I was disappointed Art didn't tell Andres. What purpose does it serve not to tell the truth to him. Make Manuel look bad? Hell everybody knows he's a ne'er do well.

I'm wondering what crazy stunt Acacia is gonna pull because Esteban is givin it back, rubbing it in her face. Of course she doesn't know he's a broke ass now.

Thanks, Vivi. Terrific recap. I appreciate that you insulted Este so well that I don’t have to do it. :D My favorite: Then he begins to lay on the b.s. with a heavy trowel.

Gloria, hope you’re feeling better by now.

Is Acacia upset because Este is cheating on her with her mother? Or is Acacia upset because she realizes her mother is now stuck with a no-goodnik? But wait a minute, didn’t Acacia realize that a man that would hit on his own stepdaughter is already by definition a no-goodnik?

I’m confused. I can’t tell whether Acacia is still turned on by Este or not. I guess if Acacia bites the bullet and tells Cris the truth for her mother’s own good, then Acacia could still end up smelling like a rose by the end of the TN. The smart thing to do would be to tell Cris that Este’s been hitting on her, omitting the half about her responding with gusto to it.

ITA that it is dumb dumb dumb for Perla to return. But her return might take some of the heat off of Ale. I don’t even want to imagine how beserk Danilo will get if Perla doesn’t show up right after the police have raided him.

Art, there’s a fine line between helping and becoming a doormat. Sorry, but I think Luisa is still hung up on Manuel. Manuel has some good qualities, as he has stuck up for German and at least felt bad about going along with his pappies to make Luisa get an abortion. I’m feeling that Manuel will be relieved when he finds out Luisa didn’t get the abortion and come around to being a father. I do not want to see Luisa even thinking about rejecting Art in favor of Manuel.

A brilliant recap, Vivi! Thank you SO MUCH for doing this during the holidays, and a thank-you to you and Diana for the last two… I read them too late to comment. Wonderful stuff!

Gloria – major bummer about the migraine – and during the holidays. No fair!

Vivi – I laughed out loud at your “crickets” part.

I’m cringing about the upcoming cutting… if they’re going to do that, why are they giving us refritos at the beginning of the episodes now?

I’m wondering how they got huge cotton bales down the little crawl-hole under the rug, or why they would even want to do that.

Also, Este’s faked affections for Christina makes me wonder if all those years together were faked too. How much of that was even real?

Maggie,

I certainly don't think Este killed Alonso out of jealously. I think Este just wanted power. I don't think he's ever loved Cris. That's my two cents.

I fired off another nasty email to Univision Corporate about editing La Malquerida. I also jumped on them for never answering
emails.
the gringo

I think, Esteban did at one time love Cris but it didn't take much from Acacia to turn his head.

Acacia multiple times told Esteban to return to her mother and I think she is upset like a teenage girl a guy tells her he loves her and wants to run away with her and the next day in the sack with another woman. It's more about Acacia's ego than anything. To think Esteban is not worthy or her mother is ignoring her responsibility in the deception. Yes, the stepfather cheating is bad, but the daughter dallying with her mothers husband is horrible.

I agree with you tofie.

If when Acacia was young and she and Este were supposedly friends, she obviously didn't want anyone to take her father's place. From Cris' end she does love Este but I'm curious as to what attracted her to him. Maybe he was truly charming back then or maybe like Maggie said he was faking it the whole time and she fell for it.

I think it was convenience for Cris at first but she grew to love and respect him. They did have a common goal and both worked hard. Maybe what Esteban did was covet his bosses wife.

Yeah I see what you're saying Tofie.

I think it would've been different if Ack hadn't developed feelings for Este and he would've had to have suffered alone with his feelings for her since he was the one who first felt something.

When the story opened, Este seemed genuine in his love for Cris. His eyes never roamed to anyone else, till Acacia. Juliana flirted with him back then and he showed no interest. He at least use to feel bad about his feelings for Acacia. It seems he fell out of love with Cris because now he doesn't mind using her as a pawn between him and Acacia. If Acacia doesn't do something to protect her mother from being with this man, she's hopeless.

When Este spoke to Alonso at his tomb, he made it clear that Cris was his obsession at the time and that he did not believe that Al was worthy of Cris. Just like how he now doesn't feel that any man, but himself, is worthy of Acacia. There is no reason to believe that he was faking his feelings for Cris. I don't even think he has to fake it in the bed with her now, although at this point he would prefer Acacia.

Now, my question is, is Este capable of love? Is there not a difference between love and obsession? Seems to me that he used to be obsessed with Cris and now he's obsessed with Acacia. And he had some major envy of Al and all the things Al had- marriage, family, land, money, power.

Este cannot love. Having Cris and Acacia eating out of his hand is what makes him tick. It strokes his ego and it's a power trip for him.

Gringo- To answer your question about how this exhaustion story is going to fly, everyone has been commenting for a while now that Luisa is working too hard. She's a full time student; she is helping to run a catering biz with Art and doing weekend events; and she cooks, cleans and serves at the hacienda, and took on more work after Este yelled at Rosa to help her grandma out more. So really, it wouldn't be an absurd diagnosis for her.

I agree that young peon Este coveted his boss Alonso's wife and life and was willing to drop a big Boulder on guaypo Al to take them for himself. In the beginning before we knew that Este was a stone old killer, we thought that he was a hardworking good guy who was having a midlife crisis and trying to resist the urges he was having for his stepdaughter. Then, when he went down into Alnso's tomb , we were all amazed to suddenly hear his confession that he killed Alonso. What ??? Now, the mask that he evidently wore for many years has completely slipped . He has crawled back to Cris and her luxurious hacienda and that comfy kingsized bed now that his plan to make it on his own with his stepdaughter has not panned out. Loser. I cannot wait for Cris to find out that he killed her hub and tried to seduce her daughter. I hope that she gets a chance to tell him off and give him a good slap, before his anvil squashes him flat. His lust for Ack caused him to lose that lux life he stole from Alonso. Mnan..Dumbunny. 🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰

Firstly, I really feel for Perla and Memo. Stop being fools and get the hell out of town, ASAP! Haven't y'all had enough already? Sheesh!!!

And secondly, I cannot wait for the Esteban shit to hit the fan! How much longer do we have to go? I read univision wasnt happy with the ratings and was trying to speed up the episodes ... I'm so anxious for the big bomb to go off on that despicable bastard!!!!

Ness- This show ends January 16th, but there are more episodes left than there are days till that day. So far there have been no cutting of episodes, so it seems like Uni won't start cutting until next week or the last week. Who knows! In any case, if this is to end by the 16th, at some point these episodes are going to be a chopped up mess that doesn't make sense, since these writers pack a lot into each episode, and the last week's of a tn are usually even more packed with plot development.

Thanks, I stream it on hulu so I dont see the univision commercials. Maybe they will air two hour episodes if there is time in the schedule...? If any other novelas recently ended. Let's see what they do with this. I'm really excited to see it all climax finally!
