As one of our friends on the board here said this writer is known for surprises. I just hope one of his surprises is NOT Ivan dying and Uli getting "to keep" Mariana! That would be too awful for words!
Just finished today's episode.
There was one very delightful surprise, another possible good turn of events - yet fraught with danger,
and then there is that woman,
Esa Mujer who gets in deeper each day attempting to carry out her irrational plan as her loved ones become more alienated at every turn.
Enough said.
All the best to all
Hi, everybody. I’m going to try to be thorough but brief. See Kelly’s excellent recap of Friday, 2-13 for the reviewed scenes and I’m going to try to combine some things instead of giving a scene by scene retell. I’m going to also try to use headings.
Jorge and Juliana
When we left Jorge and Juli on Friday Jorge is at Juli’s and was trying to declare his love to her and decided to say it with a kiss. And what a kiss! At first Juli is taken by surprise, her eyes still open but as Jorge pours his hart into the kiss Juli warms, closes her eyes and gently surrenders to his insistent labial declaration. Finally breaking the kiss he tells her he is in love with her. At first it seems she may be displeased and when Flavia interrupts them she seems flustered and embarrassed. When Flavia leaves Jorge starts a rapid-fire and awkward apology/explanation. She tells him she has just been widowed and he was just going with Caro! Yes, but he has broken up with Caro and he did so not because “things didn’t flow” but because he realized what he felt for her, Juliana.
Alan is next to interrupt. He notices his mom seems weird. He pulls her away to attend to something. Flavia comes back in wondering what’s taking him so long: they are supposed to be going to El P. He tells her he declared his love to Juli, Flavia lets out a WHOO HOO! He shuses Flavia but tells her he’s got hope that it will be reciprocated. Ah! Finally someone in this family is truly in love! Flavia declares as she and Jorge finally exit the front door.
Moments after Flavia and Jorge leave Juli walks tentatively up to her front door and peeks out, watching Jorge leave. She swoons slightly and relieves the kiss. Then she does a brief but wild happy/celebrating dance, stomping her feet, her hair flying around in a non-Juliana type way, grinning widely and then pulls herself together within a second and walks sedately back into the house! Loved it!
Later from the airport Jorge sends Juli a sexy text: he still has the taste of her lips in his mouth and he feels a longing to be with her! Juli answers that the kiss was unexpected and she doesn’t know what to do about it. His answer: Just let it flow, like you did when we kissed! [Yah, baby!] Juli gets the shivers from this hot text right through the phone and trembles with teenaged excitement!
Juli shares her excitement later with Elo, that Jorge kissed her and told her he cared about her (she used querer). Juli is surprised that Elo knew: why didn’t he tell me. Elo tells her that he was afraid of rejection. Juli frets that it hasn’t been a year since Franco’s death. Elo thinks she has no need to fear that she’s disrespecting Franco’s love and memory, as a matter of fact he would want her to rebuild her life and he would be very pleased that it’s with Jorge: “es un tipazo!” He’s one great guy!
Right after the above conversation Whor calls: he wants to meet with Juli for some advice on Vale. Juli agrees that he can come over for coffee. After they hang up Whor thinks to himself that if it’s good enough for Amaya, it’s good enough for him. He’s going to be a Montesinos too! He declares Juli is going to be his! Elo warns her to be careful of Whor even though she told him she wants nothing beyond friendship with him; Whor, just like Jorge is trying to get close to her.
Free Mariana!
Remember slime ball Uli was pleased to hear from the Dr. that Mariana said she was a virgin. The Dr. advises him that Mariana must eat and he also gives her a prescription for multivitamins. After the Dr. has left he tells Mariana she must eat! With daggers in her eyes she tells him he can get all the medicines he wants and bring her food, she’s not going to take anything that comes from him. Uli leaves the room pissed! Good!
Remember on Friday Ivan snuck into the back of a truck driven by two El D guys. When the truck arrives they thankfully leave it open after unlocking it, drawn away by the promise of tacos. Ivan exits the truck and stealthily walks around El D; he sneaks up on a young lady who happens to be Heriberto’s friend. He tells her who he is and she happily leads him to Mariana confirms that Mariana is being held against her will in the big house. She lied about being their willingly because Uli threatened to kill Cip. We see a brief scene where Uli demands that Cip make Mari eat or he’s going to kill him!
In a later scene the young lady (can’t remember her name) takes Mari some food and tells her Ivan is there. Of course Mari is overjoyed and for a minute I’m afraid she’s too loud. YIKES! But after an indeterminate amount of time Mari and Ivan are reunited. They hug and kiss and declare their love to one another: it’s sweet but it goes on a little too long! Seems like they need to get the heck up outta there! YIKES again!
It’s Not Easy being a Bitch
Max and Amaya have a bitter, sharp, encounter on the steps of MM where she tells him that if he brought Connie there to make her jealous, he’s wasting his time. He tells her he doesn’t care anything about her as soon as she came back as Cesar’s wife. He tells her he sees her for who she really is, how false she was pretending to be the noble woman and valiant mother who would do anything for her daughter. He looks her up and down with disgust and continues on his way down the stairs. Amaya goes to her (and Cesar’s) bedroom and breaks down, crying that she loves Max and can’t stand to see him and Connie together.
Later Amaya meets with Whor at an outdoor café. She wants to see Vale. Whor calls Vale with the phone on speaker. Even though Amaya asks to see her, Vale refuses flatly. Whor cuts off the phone and tells her not only is Vale NOT going to the US, he is going to seek custody and make sure she never sees her again. He leaves. Amaya cries.
Caro meets later with Amaya at the same café. Caro thinks it works better for Amaya’s plan for Vale to be with Whor for now. Once things are worked out she can tell Vale why she did what she did and their relationship will normalize. Amaya’s had a terrible day, not only Vale’s rejection but it’s been torturous seeing Max and Connie together in the house! Caro essentially tells Amaya to buck up; she knew it would be costly to choose justice over love. This is part of the price but she cautions Amaya not to let her search for justice turn into vengeance!
It takes a bitch to create one
Amaya and Lu have a brief encounter. It’s one in a series of Lu’s efforts to size up this new Amaya. She tells Amaya she has been unmasked and her true self is revealed. Amaya tells her it’s good for Lu to see just who she is. Lu says yes, a woman without scruples. Well, if you want to look at me that way, fine. Amaya further states that in the end, the truth is always revealed. And it’s best to look out for one’s self, isn’t it. . . señora. Amaya says senora like a curse. After Amaya walks away Lu thinks to herself she may be harder to conquer than her mother, Florencia, but she WILL win!
Mauro, Max and Cesar
We have an explosive scene between Mauro and his sons. Mauro’s trying to reestablish some normal lines of communication between Max and Cesar for the sake of the business but Max just can’t deal with Cesar’s betrayal. Max tells them both he’s going to pull together the resources of his own and his sibs. Cesar challenges that Max does have any resources, everything belongs to Mauro. Max doesn’t have shares like he has! Mauro has to shout them down! They act like this is a war of egos! Yes, it IS a war of egos Max shoots back! “Why don’t you ask him why he married Amaya, or better yet, ask her? They married because the only thing that matters to them is money and power! “ Cesar offers that he and Amaya married because they love each other.
Mauro demands that Max and Cesar WILL respect his home and his business. They both carry his blood and they will act like family Is there any problem with that? Cesar says he has no problem. Max says he does. “I’m done here, I don’t want to see HIM again, and I don’t want anything to do with him! “ Max, standing, is pointing at Cesar, who is sitting down, trying to pretend to be the more calm, mature party. Max leaves and tells them they can continue alone with their theatrics! Max leaves. Cesar looks at Mauro and says, “You see?”
Connie waxes self-righteous
Connie is getting lots of attention and TLC in the Montesino household and she’s eating it up. Mauro stops by to see how she is. He confirms for her that he did not know about her dad, Manuel’s 20 year affair and son, Jose. She tells Mauro he is more like the dad she wants, that she thought Manuel was. Mauro tries to deflect this praise but nevertheless hugs her tenderly.
Manuel has come over to MM to ask Mauro to forgive him for the fiasco of yesterday, the robbery Jose and his thug friends staged during the NAB. Max is also there listening silently, seemingly feeling how painful this is for Manuel. Mauro asks why he kept such a secret, how it happened with Geno. It started small and grew, they fell in love and it became increasingly difficult to admit the truth. Manuel couldn’t tell Mauro, his best friend either; he was ashamed, did not like exposing his weakness and afraid of being judged. Manuel also thought it would affect his business relationship with Nescafe. Max tries to excuse himself, Manuel asks him to stay. He also wants to ask them to drop the charges against Jose. They have not pressed charges, it must be Cesar!
Well Cesar is in his apartment getting busy with one of his little paid companions. The comely lass read in the society column Cesar got married. What does he want with her? He likes the games they play together. His wife is a lady, she’s his playmate. He begins to tie her to the headboard with a black belt.
Manuel nearly begs Mauro to drop the charges. No need, Mauro will talk to Cesar. Mauro thanks them and asks to speak to her. Max goes to ask her, she refuses but eventually agrees to talk to him. . . .for Max.
Manuel does beg Connie to forgive him. She can’t bring herself to forgive him. She gave up a possible life with Max to be by his side. Manuel makes a good try: surely she must know what it is to be torn between two loves. Yes, she does, but she chose. Badly, but she chose! He, on the other hand, refused to recognize your own son and passed yourself off as an honorable man. She accuses him of cowardice. He answers her question that her mom never knew about the affair. That gives Connie some consolation but she is sorry. “Yesterday I lost the love and respect for you that I had and for this reason, I want you far from my life.” Manuel’s face crushes, reflecting his heart.
Lu complains to Max that since Cesar brought that woman into the house, he is no longer close to her. This almost loses Max who doesn’t want to hear anything about Cesar. Lu does get Max’s attention with a lie made convenient by Amaya’s justice strategy. Lu claims that now she knows what would surely have happened had Florencia not had that unfortunate accident and disappeared: Florencia and Amaya would now be the owners of Mauro’s heart and coffee Empire because Florencia had tried to get money out of Mauro. Mauro surely would have abandoned them all to be with her. Mother and daughter are both the same, betting on the one with the deepest pockets. On this note Max kisses her on the forehead and leaves her to beat herself with her massage thingy with a ball on the end.
Later Lu slinks into Connie’s room. She empathizes with what a hard time Connie must be having what with Manuel’s betrayal and Amaya in the house. Lu wants to join forces with Connie to drive Amaya from the MM: she’s a danger and a temptation to Max. Connie is silent but looks interested.
Manuel continues to plead for Jose
In the garden of the MM Amaya tells Cesar about the pain of Vale’s rejection? Cesar never thought Vale would live with them anyway. He thinks Amaya just needs to lay down the law with the little miss: make rules and enforce them, apply some discipline. If she wants her to go to the states to study, just send her and that’s it. She declines his offer to intervene with Vale. That’s not how Amaya wants to manage things and how would he know, not ever having had children. He moves into her space and hisses that he would like to have children. . .with her. She frowns and evades his yucky mouth: remember we have an agreement. Yes, I know, you need time.
Manuel has returned to talk to Mauro about Jose’s arrest. Mauro did make a call and explains to Manuel that even if Cesar dropped the charges, there is nothing they can do because military grade weapons were used in the robbery. Manuel sadly understands.
Amaya and Cesar float into the room and learn of the impossibility of Jose’s being released. Tense with ire, Manuel points at Cesar and says “because of your charges things have gotten so complex!” Cesar remains annoyingly cool and says that frankly, the problem is his son is a criminal! Manuel is outdone!
“This is as incredible as the day you blackmailed me when you found out about my relationship and son with Genoveva!” Mauro and Max’s drop open though Max’s face looks more like an angry/amused surprise, Mauro straight shock and Amaya stunned. Cesar is caught off guard and says Manuel is lying. Manuel continues: “That’s the real reason I sold my shares, in exchange for Cesar’s silence!” Cesar is actually off balance, all he can do is call Manuel a liar. This is all the hurt and humiliation Manuel can take in one day and he charges Cesar. Max stops him. Manuel says something the equivalent of wanting to rip Cesar’s liver out! Manuel storms out in frustration and rage!
Max turns to Amaya, that same “smile” of angry self-assurance on his face. He looks at Amaya, “You see the class of man you’ve married!” He then runs out after Manuel, calling his name.
Cesar looks at Mauro and we get a rare glimpse of fear in his eyes and the cold bastard’s face freezes!
* He tells her who he is and she confirms that Mariana is being held against her will in the big house.
I loved Amayas face during the final scene. She had this what the hell did I marry i to look. It was hilarious.
Her mini tete de tete with Lucrecia was extremely satisfying. Get those claws ready Lurcrecia you know now Amaya is not taling your bs laying down.
For once I felt bad for Constanza. She did make her bed but she qlso stayed with her father to help him and he had secret conselo somewhere else.
Juliana and Jorge woah! Steamy. Idk why Elpisa even had to gove Juliana thay piece of advice, shes not looking Horacio way. Doubt ahe ever will so he can keep dreaming.
The great escape is probably happening tomorrow...may everyone make it put safely.
**Shame about Lorena Rojas. I never saw any of her novelas but I heard nothing but good things. May she rest in peace.**
I have to say I enjoyed Amaya in this episode! Her facial expression was priceless! She may "need" Cesar for the fruition of her plans but she REALLY does not know what kind of animal he is! And yes, I enjoyed her encounter with Lu also. It's true as I said above that she couldn't be a bitch to Lu if she were with Max. She is getting a chance to fully express her contempt and hatred for Lu every time they meet!
Superalfie, I am so glad they're giving us a Jorge and Juliana romance! We need that what with Amaya and Max hissing and spitting at each other! And Whor! Is he crazy?!
Tuesday has usually been even more exciting than every other exciting day of the week with the QA gang! Can't wait!
Ok, gotta go do stuff. See ya!
Lila- Thanks for the fantastic recap of yesterday's episode. Best part of the episode for me was Juli and Jorge (J&J). That kiss was swoon worthy, as were those texts. I'm so glad they also have so many people on their side encouraging the relationship. I understand Juli's feelings of guilt and confusion, but like Elo said, Franco would want her to be happy and loved by a good man like Jorge. In fact, I seem to remeber that being his death bed request of her.
The fact that Max and Mauro continue to be vulnerable to the lies of Lu and Cesar, shown this episode when Lu tried to plant in Max's head that Flor was a golddigger and Cesar accused Manuel of lying about his blackmail, proves to me that Amaya is right to not trust them with her theories and plans. They are too easily duped where Lu and Cesar are concerned.
I worry that Amaya's plan is not well thought out and I need her to start showing us that she has some definite plans to get the goods on Lu and Cesar while being in that house.
So, while Amaya is dead to many of you, I have to say that Connie grates on my nerves more. Amaya's compulsion to go it alone worries me. Connie's inability to go it alone annoys me. Who's is she kidding? Even Nora pointed out long ago that the reason Connie delayed wedding Max and stayed in Mexico those five years, was not really about helping her dad. It was about her being the center of her daddy's attention, his princess, the center of his life, for those years. She says she's alone and has nowhere to go. We know she has an apartment that Manuel bought her and her BFF Nora who would be there for her in a heartbeat. No, Connie needs to be the center of a man's attention- be it Max, Manuel, or Sal.
And that dope Max, in an effort to spite Amaya, moves Connie (who he just told he doesn't want a romantic relationship with) into his bedroom! Sorry, he doesn't get a pass from me for that. Although he was looking very fetching in that dark blue shirt. :)
There was nothing brief about your recap, but it was thorough, and I think truly a labor of love.
I was shocked that you wrote so extensively just coming off all the work you did for La Gata. In any case, thank you very much. But feel free to lighten up in the future. We appreciate anything you can find time to do.
With regard to Jorge and Juliana,
they make a perfect couple, but I was surprised that he went all out with his kiss and surprised that she responded in that manner.
The episode was well written and well portrayed, although for me,
the kiss was still a little overboard for the first time, and
the text message was too icky for my taste.
But speaking of taste in a positive way, one of my favorite songs sung by José José and written by Alvaro Carillo is "Sabor a Mi." If you don't know it, or even if you do know it, it
is well worth hearing again. You can find it live on you tube with his 3 coristas. Spectacular.
By the way, today is the birthday of José José,(67) my singing idol and an example of someone who keeps up a daily struggle to earn a living after years of being unable to work after contracting Lymes's disease which caused a total paralyis of the left side of his face.
He is in pain everyday with his hip problem but cannot be operated on due to the throat problem which prevents doctors from intubating him during surgery. He could be working as an actor, but his speaking voice won't permit it. He is able to give concerts, however, every 2-3 months to adoring fans.
He has a voice coach, and I understand he vocalizes with him 7 days per week.
All the best to all ...
Thanks, Lila, for all you do to keep us all up to speed on this now controversial novela.
Vivi, happy snow day to you! I thought you might get one!
Hi, Floridia! Can't wait to join you guys. I'm at work. See ya later, just stopped to peek in!
This story is too good for just one episode a day. I'm watching Dark Shadows for the first time and I don't know how viewers handled the suspense then and the commercials!
Plus, today we have our first near kiss after the separation. Oh how fun the games of the deception are.
And yes, Max is using Connie as well as keeping his promise to be with her in all things related to Maxito but she doesn't care! She is to Max as Whor is to Juli but it's worse because of the baby! Sheesh!
Happy Birthday to José José! Didn't know he had all those health problems, pobrecito!
Floridia, I am so happy to see SOMEbody in love I don't mind if they're a little, uh, enthusiastic. Our main lovers are going to be prohibited to each othert for a long time; poor Mariana is not yet really free! We need some lovin'
By the by, what do you mean by this: Plus, today we have our first near kiss after the separation. Or maybe I'll see in today's episode?
Well, see you all then!
QA Tuesday, #104, 2-17-15
Hi, y’all! I’m trying something new. I’m going to try to write this recap from memory based on careful attention and note-taking structured topically vs. scene by scene reconstruction . This is an effort to cover the bases without writing a novelette!
Whor lies his way out of Manuel’s accusation of blackmail. Cesar is a practiced liar as well as manipulator of Mauro so this is not difficult. He did indeed find out about Manuel and Geno but he kept quiet. The selling of shares is unrelated to that and Manuel is a grown man capable of making his own decisions! Cesar and Amaya retire to their room.
Manuel has resigned himself that he can’t save Jose from being transferred from the jail to the penitentiary. Geno, her face awash with tears and mascara tells Manuel she will never forgive him if anything happens to her son! Manuel lets her know she isn’t the only one suffering; he also suffers for Jose, his daughter hates him and he’s in danger of losing everything, even her! Manuel orders his lawyer to hire protection for Jose in the pen when he finds out he was beaten in jail. Manuel goes to see Jose who insults him and calls him a coward who turned his mother into his private concubine while he posed as the grand Senor. Jose begins to whimper and cry, however, when he finds out he’s going to the big house and nobody can save him from that!
Whor feels he’s planting the seeds of love in Juli’s heart when she is simply being the friend she said she would be by empathizing with him over Amaya’s plan (as Whor believes) to send Vale away to boarding school. This is just not the Amaya he fell in love with: she is cold, calculating and arrogant and it breaks his very soul to see how much Vale is hurt by this change in her. Juli says she doesn’t usually feel this way, but in this case she is in agreement with Whor’s plans to seek custody of Vale. Whor smiles with satisfaction; he thinks he’s on his way into Juli’s heart.
Connie pledges allegiance to Lucrecia in their effort to get the dangerous Amaya out of the house. They don’t know how they’re going to do it but each will give it some thought.
Later in the morning Amaya is coming down the stairs at the MM and stumbles. Max catches her, the QA theme son is cued as their faces come in kissing distance and each instinctively softens. He helps her to the steps. She’s reinjured her ankle. He looks at it. It is swollen. Cesar comes charging down the hallway toward the stairs yelling for Max to get away from her and not to touch her. Amaya yells back that Max was helping her. Max tells Amaya that her husband is certainly insecure and everyday he pities him more and more. He shakes his head and leaves them. Cesar barks at her not to let Max touch her and she yells back not to speak to her that way!
The two continue to argument in their room, loud enough for Connie to overhear! Cesar is pissed at how Amaya looked at Max when he touched her. She yells that he knew she was still in love with Max when they got married! Connie even opens the door to get an earful and quickly retreats when she hears their door open. Cesar is going off the deep end, begin to pace in his mentally sick little circles. She tells him to calm down; she’s done nothing to cause him to act this way. He realizes he’s freaking out, weakly asks pardon and tries to calm himself.
The ever faithful Nora comes to visit Connie and in an oft-replayed scenario Nora tries to talk Connie out of a foolish emotional choice. Connie is determined to reconquer Max’s heart but she tells Nora about hearing Amaya say she still loves Max. I don’t know why Nora thinks Connie is going to tell Max this. Connie admits when questioned she is NOT going to tell Max not only to not hurt him but not to mess up the good thing she’s got going. Nora says that not telling Max is like when she hid that Amaya was divorced. Connie says this is different: She now has the full support of the Montesinos and they are all she has after what her father did to her! She’s going to take full advantage of her position now that Amaya has fallen from her pedestal!
Max is relaxing in the garden after having gone for a run trying to clear his head of echoes of recent nightmarish encounters with Amaya. Alan, Lucio and Vale approach. Vale is sad about her mom, she doesn’t want to go away and her mom has changed since she married Cesar. She would much rather she had married Max! They embrace. Amaya, alone in the bedroom kisses the locket that saved her life and looks out the window and sees this scene and hobbles as quickly as she can to the garden to see Vale. Vale quickly runs away as her mom approaches. Max turns to look at her from where he sits, then rises and walks past her shaking his head in pity in her general direction and heads for the house. Amaya, her face a study in pain then has a thought bubble: Is all of this I’m doing worth it? Maybe I should have left the matter in the hands of God.
In her room later Amaya sits at the desk, no doubt to write the letter she carefully leaves at the front door. On her way back upstairs she meets Mauro. He wants to talk to her. Mauro says he does not know why she did what she did but she hurt him. His affection for her has not disappeared but it is fractured, it is disrupted. Mauro says he though she was like her mother. He knows Florencia didn’t raise her but he thought that her Madrina would instill similar values in her. Amaya asks Mauro to be clearer. Mauro says he knew Florencia was as unhappy in her marriage as he was and he proposed they leave their spouses and fight for their love. “Do you know what she told me?” Mauro asks for emphasis and then answers his own question. Florencia said she would never, ever seek her own happiness at the cost of another’s misfortune and that she would never destroy a marriage. He says Amaya is doing the exact opposite, not that she is destroying a marriage but she has destroyed Max’s heart. Amaya says she is sorry but she is not her mother and feels no need to try to be identical to her. Mauro agrees and so he proposes the following: He will give Amaya her place and he will respect her but please, she should not expect the same affection he had for her before and he wants to make sure she understands that. He walks away in slow motion. Amaya’s face folds in grief. Love takes another hit in the service of justice.
I will more briefly review the efforts to free Mariana. Ivan is hiding out at El D until nightfall when Mariana is to meet him at a designated place before they escape. Mariana also feigns a change of attitude with Uli which is supposed to lower his guard and both Mari and Ivan seem to feel they are on track. Flavia and Jorge return to El P. and find out about the plan from Cecy. I am glad to hear Jorge tell her off about her opinion that Ivan’s rescue attempt is a foolish risk “just to” rescue his girlfriend. Flavia gets the bright idea for her and Jorge to go to El D to distract Uli and thus decrease the risk factor for their escape. They pretend to be there for Flavia to pay for his SUV Flavia wrecked. Flavia does see Mariana who is very surprised to see her and worried their presence will foil the plan. There is a touching scene where Flavia honestly tells Mariana that even though she does not have the wealth and luxury Flavia has, she has a treasure more valuable and something SHE may never have: Love! Mariana thanks Flavia and gives her a hug!
While Uli is busy with Jorge and Flavia, who fakes a sudden illness, Mari leaves the bedroom where she was held, fends off a delay by her drunken, good for nothing father and successfully gets outside where she waves her arms frantically at Ivan who is across the yard with a little mirror, signaling to her. He breaks out in a smile as he sees his love but the joy is interrupted by a thug pressing a gun to the back of his head!
**********
There you are folks! I purposely left out some Cippy Cup shenanigans and any of you feel free to add that or anything else I might have missed. I’m off to eat dinner and may add some things later myself. See you later!
If there was any doubt Flavia was headed for redemption, there is none now. I, along with Mariana, wanted to give her a hug for her efforts. I loved the fainting spell, Flavia knew Ulises would cringe at the thought of her being pregnant. Well played.
Surprisingly, Cecy's big mouth might actually helped Ivan and Mariana.
Amaya's doubts continue to rear their ugly head. In those quiet moments, I see glimpses of the old Amaya. It was especially sad to see her hold it together in spite of all Mauro said he now thought about her. Those eyes.
Constanza continues to be a thorn in everyone's side. I hope it all backfires soon because unlike Amaya, she'd be more than happy to build her happiness on a foundation of lies and deceptions.
The letters keep getting the necessary react. It's great to see Lucrecia start to look around every corner for ghosts that aren't there. Madness would be a perfect preamble to revenge.
Horacio might get the sympathy of Juliana with his daughter but I doubt she'd look his way, especially with Jorge in her thoughts.
Genoveva should has some nerve telling Manuel she'd hate him forever if Jose goes to jail. Lady he dug that grave all by his lonesome, let him rot.

Favorite moment- Jorge basically telling Ceci to shut up when she belittled Ivan's and Mari's feelings for each other. Loved Jorge and Flavia coming to the rescue. Now, let's see if they can pull it off and if Ivan can incapacitate that henchman with a gun. Ojala!
Once again Connie, who likes to brag about how honest and straight forward she is, decides to hide something from Max.
Amaya has already started to learn the hard lesson about vengeance. It often hurts the avenger the most. The rejection of Vale is what's really tearing at her.
The scene between Mauro and Amaya was very powerful. We know he can rant and rave but him calmly and honestly telling her what he thought of what she'd done and how it affected him was so intense and more powerful than any yelling he could've done. Very impactful.
The marriage to Cesar is a beyond gutsy move on her part. I agree with what you said yesterday about wanting to see more of a thought out plan. There has been so much raw emotion over the shock of the marriage, the robbery, the shooting and the crazy dynamics of them all living under the same roof, I think that with the second letter Amaya may now be starting to act in a more calculating way. We shall see.
Anyway, in case some viewers forgot or are newly joining us, Max saved Amaya's life in the very first episode thus forging a deep and lifelong bond. The connection to Florencia formed a powerful bond of love and protection from Mauro. As Mauro said, she has destroyed Max's heart and the bond between her and Mauro now been fractured.
So Elo spoke truth to her and took her down from the pedestal as sister/niece/friend; We know Max has dressed her down in her role as lover and future wife; Mauro just knocked her off her pedestal as beloved daughter and carrier of the Florencia flame and Vale's running away and preferring to be with Whor knocked her off her mother pedestal. On top of all this she had the s*it slapped out of her at the robbery AND she has to live with Cesar and know that Max and Connie are sharing a baby and a bed.
We MAY be done having people tell Amaya off: she's gotten it from all sides so I think they know now we are ready to see the real villains, Lucrecia and Cesar, fall, crash, and burn at Amaya's hands!
Whatever system you choose to employ works well, so go with whatever your whim, mood, and time will allow. Thanks for caring about us.
I am one who will continue to attack that woman. Every mother in the world should have her child as her primary obligation, no matter what else may be in the wind. She used to talk to Val before she did things to get her prepared, and she arranged for therapy to get her on the right track before she married Max.
But with this crazy, half-baked plan, that bad mother said not a word to Val beforehand. The child doesn't know which way is up. She's bouncing back and forth like a yo yo and totally confused. She could realistically need years in therapy. Knowing Horacio, it was absolutely predictable that he is reacting the way he is, and in this case, I agree with him. Val needs some stability.
Luckily, she has Alan and Lucio to spend time with; dear sweet, Lucio. I loved it how he told Max that Valerie was not telling the truth when she sad she was fine. He told Max that "Val is sad."
I have no doubt that there will be happy endings for the good guys, but in the meantime, there is too much devastation. At least, Val has bonded firmly with Max.
Since I am a Denialist, I want to know if we know for sure that Amaya married Cesar, of if they had some phony Vegas wedding with a fake marriage certificate --
not that anyone at MM was asking for proof. We saw what looked like a wedding ring and a diamond.
Did she agree to PRETEND to marry Cesar as part of her strategy to alienate herself from Max -- supposedly because of Connie's pregnancy...as far as Cesar knows??
So far, this note-sending scheme sounds like something a teenager would concoct, and it would seem to be easily traceable to that bad mother. And while she's at it, why doesn't she start wearing low-healed shoes to prevent further slip and falls. Put on a pair of sneakers like Max. I'll admit her legs are gorgeous.)
Kudos to Don Mauro for being honest and direct.
Lila, I must disagree with your comment about Max looking at that bad mother with "pity." I strongly suggest that he gave her a look of DISGUST.
Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication.
All the best .......
I can't argue with you, Floridia! I honestly cannot say your points don't have merit!
So, a good portion of viewerville, cause I know Floridia is not alone, is not ready to stop letting Amaya have it for her venganza plan!
Floridia, is there anything Amaya can do going forward to redeem herself while still pursuing what she sees as justice?
Or, does she have to give up her plan all together and "leave it in the hands of Dios" (which is interesting that she thought her plan a better alternative than The Almighty)
or, call in the authorities with such "evidence" as she has which, with each passing day, is getting colder and colder?
You sounded hopeful yesterday about the near kiss. Was that a near miss?
Thank you, Floridia: love your vigorous defense of Amaya's loved ones!
I have another theory which I've stated before. If the slaps, rejection and stern sermons are not enough for those furious with Amaya, I think before this is over she will nearly die at Cesar's hands, Max will save her life -- again -- and we will be full circle and she will be redeemed by this trial by fire!
Marrying the brother of the beloved has certainly struck and nerve; the writers know it and I think they will make Amaya pay dearly for it even though they've tried to present it as "justified."
:D
ITA. But those alert family members are not Max and Mauro. They are Eloisa and Juli. Unfortunately, Amaya didn't get to know either of them enough to know that before she put her "mis planes" into action.
I don't think Amaya intended to marry Cesar when she went to Vegas. I believe she intended to move slower on her plan to get in close with him, and therefor get close to Lucrazy. I believe her plan was to send Val away on her exchange trip, while Val was still excited about it, and then Val would be in the dark (and safe) while she worked on her revenge plan. I'm sure it was Cesar who presented the marriage plan (marry me; I'll help keep Max at bay; I can be a good husband; you'll grow to love me; I won't hurry you/push a physical relationship), and Amaya jumped on it thinking she wouldn't get a chance like this again to "get in."
I don't think that the writers are trying to show that this was a good choice. In fact, I think they are trying to show that Amaya made a very bad choice. Even her one supporter, Caro, is asking her if she's really ready to pay the price for doing this, and we see that Amaya is questioning herself. I think the lesson the writers are trying to give is clear-- vengeance, taken into your own hands, sucks, BIG time! Leave it to God and/or the police (who may or may not do anything).
Okay, back later!
I noticed that gap after I posted,
and I have no idea how to fix it,
but I see Vivi knows how to remedy this. Many thanks.
Viv, I am sure you are correct in saying that the bad mother didn't plan to get married when she went to Vegas. I am sure, however, that Cesar would have been willing to make a deal to wait awhile until the good mother had made proper arrangements for her daughter.

1. Lila,
I did not post about the near kiss.
Someone posted it the day before after seeing the advances, but it was not I.
On that subject, though, and in answer to your question as well,
as they said on Fantasy Island every episode, once you have accepted your fantasy, there is no going back.
So, once the bad mother made this botched decision, I believe she needs to continue on with it in the slight hope that she will accomplish her mission. She has nothing to lose now; she's lost everything important and would not be able to regain it on the turn of a dime.
I am certain that the bad mother still represents a physical attraction for Max. But what she has done renders her untouchable,
and he would be a fool without any principles to mess around with her. By the same token, if she were to make a move on Max, it renders her decision to be with Cesar null and void. The choice was All or Nothing. She must stick with it.
She chose not to include Max in her plan, and she must keep it that way. I'll admit, the police wouldn't help much at this point without evidence. Only alert family members can help her.
RE your scenario at the end, I see it in the opposite light and believe that this is how the bad mother and bad fiancée could be redeemed. She could save Max's life if Cesar is about to do away with him. Then Cesar in a precarious position, threatened by prison would squeal to high heaven about his mother, and that is how the truth of it all may be revealed. Max et al will eventually see the light, and all will live happily ever after albeit a little traumatized. The bad mother will gain hero status.
That's it in a nutshell for me.
I am working on a time-consuming project so will be brief from now on.
Thanks again, Lila.
Steve, I think we all knew blondie country girl would be trouble! And that reminds me, yesterday she was trying to see what Hector was going to say about why his wife left him. Pretty nervy of her, but anyway, Hector said that Ivan does not know the real reason his mother left them and Hector became more angry as he talked: He NEVER wants Hector to know what really happened!
Maybe his wife ran off with his brother!
Looks like the writers are going to mess up Mari and Ivan's happiness before it even really gets started. Boo!
I'm waaay behind. Will catch up before Monday, promise!
Have a few things to add to last week. Will share later. BUT did anyone catch that disgusting scene where Cesar helped Amaya up the stairs to "their" bedroom after she twisted her ankle (did we actually see that? I just saw her sitting on the couch with Caro and it had happened.)
Anyway--CeSOUR (thanks, Corazon), actually SMELLED the inside of her shoe he was carrying as he walked in behind her. His rubbing her leg with salve was creepy enough, but SMELLING her shoe? Retch-worthy.
I've not really kept up with episodes, but I have lurked and read recaps and comments.
I got to catch yesterday's episode and I'm watching today's right now. I was happy to see Mariana get rescued.
Please add me to the "not crazy about Amaya" list. I wasn't that impressed with her when the show started and I'm even less impressed now.
Poor Max!
All opinions on Amaya will be respected as we are all swivilized patio and fireside friends! :D
Yah. Amaya made Constanza's wedding bomb look like a firecracker: Amaya dropped a nuke! Things are moving along nicely. Love to have you catch up and join the fray! Anita is just back as well after getting away from the Siberian express for a few days!
See y'all on the other side of Vivi's recap!
Oh I respect all opinions! Just wanted to throw in my two pesos. I think it's one reason I don't participate much. I like the show and the stories... But not the Amaya "mis planes" stuff.
I feel empathy for her with today's episode for perhaps the first time as her "mis planes", if not bearing fruit, have some buds popping out.
Her arrogance is going to bite her in the end!
I hope CorazonSalvaje is ok. Corazon was supposed to recap both QA and Sombra yesterday. Phone home and let us know you’re ok.
Yesterday’s main highlights included the rescue of Mariana, who was then spirited off up north with Ivan and Ceci. Once up North, Mariana and Ivan decide to get married right away, and jump the broom a bit ahead of schedule by making love for the first time. They decide Ivan will take the job as Ceci’s capataz and Mariana will delay finishing her studies for a little while as they lay low from Ulises. In other new yesterday, Amaya’s mysterious letter to Lucrazy had it intended effect. Lu nearly passes out, and Amaya prods about the murder attempt accusation in letter, seemingly innocently asking if Lu could be capable. The resounding answer from the Montesinos men is “NO!” Suckers. Max tells the maid that ALL mysterious letters, even if they are addressed to LU, must first go to HIM.
Today:
Heriberto shares Ivan’s theory with Jorge that Cip and Uli were in cahoots this whole time to ruin el Paraiso and were behind the sabotage and robberies. It all makes sense to Jorge now. He skypes with Max and Mauro, tells them what he learned, and informs them that Uli played them for fools and had them pay him DOUBLE the price for their own coffee that he stole from them. Mauro has a conniption fit as he tears into Cesar for jumping the gun on the deal with Uli. Max looks on smugly and rubs it in Cesar’s face that Uli didn’t just make a fool of Flavia, but also of Cesar. Ha! Cesar thought bubbles to himself that he’ll teach Uli a lesson, then calls Aaron/Negro up and tells him to sow the plague (that they had previously planned for Max’s coffee) in Uli’s lands. He will ruin him!
Uli, meanwhile, is already having a terrible day. He discovers Mariana has escaped, and that Ivan was the one who engineered it. Flavia, backed up by armed guards, Jorge, Hector and Heriberto, mocks Uli and tells him to get the hell off her land and to not come back. Cip is hungover and useless to him, so he kicks him out. Cip can’t return to his house either because Uli now owns it, and Uli threatens to throw him in jail if he doesn’t pay back the rest of the money he’s owed. Uli misses the golden opportunity to recapture his obsession when he refuses to take a call of Ceci, who is all set to rat out Mariana. Cip’s obviously also having a terrible day, which gets worse when the cantina owner refuses to serve him: 1) because he has no money to pay; and 2) because he’s a lousy bum who sold his daughter.
Way up North, Mariana and Ivan meet with the priest and tell him they want to get married that Friday. They already did the pre-marriage counseling with their local priest. The priest doesn’t even bat an eyelash when they explain that they are in so much of a hurry because the bride’s father sold her to a bad man. Does this happen often? Mariana and Ivan stroll happily through the town, buying their wedding rings and trying on tuxes and gowns. They both look smashing. Ivan calls Hector and informs him. Hector thinks it’s best he stay put to not arouse Uli’s suspicions, and to work. He’s just happy that Ivan is happy. Mariana calls Amaya, and the two sisters FINALLY catch up about the CRAZY week they’ve had--kidnappings, assaults, spur of the moment marriages, some to the love of their life’s greatest enemy. Just another ho hum week in the lives of Dolores’ daughters! Amaya says she will explain why she married Cesar when she comes to be with Mariana for her wedding Friday.
Last episode, Connie took her sweetness and light assault campaign to new heights when she shocked Max by saying she wants to accompany him to the countryside. Today she calls the doc for an appointment to get the all clear to travel. Max wants to go to Chiapas tomorrow. Connie also has a sweet interaction with Lucio who has drawn a picture of her with a big pregnancy belly. She asks him to add Max to it. Lucrazy has also launched her own sweetness and light assault campaign, and has bought Max and Connie a fancy stroller. But the campaign Lu really wants to collaborate on with Connie is the make Amaya’s life miserable campaign. She feels Connie going off to Chiapas with Max will derail that and she’s not pleased. In a chat with Eloisa about the letter Lu received, Connie declares that Lu couldn’t possibly be guilty of such a thing. Eloisa raises an incredulous brow and says she’s not so sure.
Amaya had a mixed day, much heartbreak, but a few small victories. Caro allows her to have a little cry as she evaluates whether all this heartbreak is worth the price of justice. Whoracio, who has allowed Juli (the object of his ambitions and greed) to pick Vale up from school each day and bring her to her home, informs Amaya that he will make sure Vale hates her and will reopen the custody process. Amaya is happy to learn of Mariana’s upcoming wedding and escape from Ulises. Amaya also has a sweet moment with Lucio, who allows her to have one of his drawings—she spots the one of Max and Connie and takes one of Vale. Amaya also spots the DNA results page with Cesar’s name on it and asks Lucio where he got that piece of paper. He points to Cesar’s desk. Lucio allows Amaya to have the page. He also invites her to go to Juli’s house with him to see Vale. Vale of course rejects her and tells her she does not love her. Amaya leaves with tears in her eyes, and Lucio, Eloisa and Juli are affected. Lucio declares that Amaya is buena and has a broken heart.
Amaya purchases her plane ticket to go way up north for the wedding. She uses the home office so that she can use the printer to print her tickets. She gets up to clean errant ink from a pen off her hands, just in time for Cesar and Lucrazy to arrive, enter the office, and start talking about Lu’s latest plans. Amaya overhears Lu telling Cesar she needs money out of the safe to bankroll the trip she is making to Chiapas with her dirty detective tomorrow. The purpose—to check the well/manhole where she dropped Florencia’s body to check if it’s there, or if Flor could really be alive if it’s not. Keeping the Flor secret and the secret of Cesar’s origins is key to them maintaining their positions in the Montesinos family. Amaya now knows that Cesar knew that Lu killed her mother, and that something fishy is going on with Cesar’s “origins”, hence the DNA test results she found!
Welcome back, Anita! Did you like seeing everything covered in snow when you came back here? Certainly you can't be enjoying our frigid temps.
Not finished watching today's episode, but it's good and I loved Flavia standing up to Uli.
I don't know who is doing the art for the Lucio actor but the sketch of Valeria was really good!
Loved the Flavia smack down of Uli!
Loved even more the good guys having brains and figuring out the whole coffee sabotage thing!
The empathy I mentioned earlier for Amaya was due to seeing her suffer and continue to question herself and the reaction of Elo and Juli to Vale's rejection. Lucio's stemp of approval will carry weight and those two smart ladies will begin to think about the weird events of the past week. Elo is the only member of the Montesino clan who knows that Lu could commit murder.
So glad Amaya found the DNA report. We speculated earlier, I know I thought Elo would find it -- none of us had any reason to think Amaya would. Did she put the report in that urn in the niche in the hallway?
Once again, thank you so much Vivi!
Where is this ranch of theirs? I thought it was in the north part of Chiapas. Is it north of Amaya in Mexico City? I know this isn't important, but everything I know of Mexican geography comes from these novelas.
Amaya is going to have to be more careful is she's going to do this spy thing. Wash your hands before you go eavesdropping!
Kelly
I forgot to add the scene with Geno and Max. She tried to hand in her resignation because she's ashamed and embarrassed by both the revelation of her long-term affair with Manuel and Jose's crime. Max says he doesn't judge, and both he and Connie are pulling for Jose to get out of prison. He rips up her resignation letter and hugs her. We also get the standard scene of Jose in prison getting eyed up and threatened in the prison, instigated by his former buddy.
Not important but why would you wear those killer heels if you've sprained your ankle?
I just hurt for her watching her limp.
Lila - I too am hoping Elo will put the pieces together and figure out Amay's plan all by herself.
My dream story is that Elo figures it out, tells Juli (or not, I'm not too attached to that part) and then goes to Amaya and offers her help to bring Lucrecia down. Then together the three (or four) sleuths find clever ways to reveal all the big truths of this novela in a better way than just hoping Lucrecia goes crazy and blabs it all herself
oh well, I can dream.
When Elo and Juli saw Val smack down Amaya, she was totally being herself and they saw her vulnerability, not this new cold, aloof persona that she has presented since she married Cesar. This is what gives me hope that Elo and Juli will think more deeply about this marriage.
Isn't it interesting guys that Whor warned Cesar that Amaya "is not what she seems"? Now we know he has always unjustly thought she was loose and unfaithful, projecting his cheating ways onto her. So, while that is untrue, it IS true that she is not what she seems. And then Cesar said "she would never do anything against me." As far-fetched as it seems, looks like old hard-assed Cesar could be in for a heart break! I will love every minute of it!
And I hope we get some action on the DNA report! At least let her get it to a safe deposit box or something!
Speaking of Whor, he's all set to give his Swiss account number to Negro to start making his millions so that he can impress Juli. Sucker. I really hope Amaya gets her money back at the end of all this.
I have a bad feeling that the Mariana/Ivan wedding is NOT going to go down. I cannot stand that.
Why has no one called the police?? Ivan straight up said "her father sold her" and the priest didn't even bat an eye. Just "oh in that case I will marry you guys."
Uli goes to get Mariana and EVERYONE at el Paraiso says "you practically had her locked up and a prisoner!" No one calls the law.
Very frustrating.
end rant.
I'll be around to put up the new post for Week 23 and cobble together the recap schedule.
Anyway--back to last week (just to get it out of my system).
I had wished Flavia had found Cesar's DNA results. To be honest, it wouldn't take long for him to be unmasked if she shared the information with Juli and Elo. It would explain to them a lot regarding his personality and behavior, Luce's favoritism, her "shame" and Mauro's deception. With Amaya finding it, no telling when.
Poor Mariana. She goes from a male torturer, sequester and all around slimy guy to a female who will probably try some pretty awful things to separate her from Ivan.
I liked the talk between Elo, Flav and Juli at the NAB about the letter Lucio gave Vale. Elo figures out correctly that now she understands why Cesar made him do it...to separate Amaya from Max and to get her for himself. Flav didn't know it was Cesar who instigated it. But now she doesn't know who is worse, Amaya or Cesar. None of them is giving Amaya a break.
In each of Amaya's "confrontational dialogs" you can read her responses two ways. I call them subtitled speech. When she directs it to Luce she says she had a powerful reason to have married Cesar: "LOVE, when one loves someone, one is capable of anything." I think she's talking about Dolores, her mother, Vale, and even Max.
When Max confronts her and wants to know what Cesar gave her that he couldn't. Her answer was character and power--the power she needs to do what she needs and wants to do with her life. Amaya could easily be talking about the vengeance.
I also loved the part where Elo and Juli note that Amaya doesn't act like a happy new bride, while Cesar is beaming. Of course, says Elo, he took away from Max what Max loved the most.
Now, I'm ready to get to the WUN finca and the wedding that probably won't take place. (It was Mariana who used the term way up north when she heard where the finca Ivan was going to.)
Sara--I agree about those spike heels. It looked silly. Too bad it's a tn rule. It would have been a perfect spot for a PSA--at least for twisted ankles.
I think Mauro's words to Amaya were the one that hurt her the most. She most dearly would have loved to have had a father figure like him, rather than Cip while she was growing up. Funny how he treated both girls with the same scorn. I hope the anvil he gets keeps hitting him over and over.
Fri. cap 107, pt. 1
Rehash of Cesar and Lu talking about Florencia’s death, and Amaya outside eavesdropping, realizing that Cesar knows that Lu killed her. They leave as Amaya quickly hides around a corner, and luckily they didn’t see any inky marks she might have left behind. Are the writers tricking us or saving this for later? Amaya picks up the DNA results she hide in a vase and though bubbles threats about revealing this tidbit.
Lu and Cesar run into Constanza downstairs with the stuff Lu gave her, and she makes some comment about Lu being a devoted grandmother or some such thing. Cesar takes a picture of Cons (he’s worse than any teenager with that camera) and makes a crack about the pregnancy being safe from complications. He has the social graces of a teenager too. Or he’s just being a jerk. Lu, devoted grandma that she is, sees that the baby seat is on a chair and her purse was put on the floor. That will not do! She tosses the baby thing on the floor and puts her purse on the chair where it belongs.
Flavia, still in Chiapas, has met up with Sal and they chat. He’s happy to make plans with her since he doesn’t know anyone here there. Flavia’s fine with that, but they can’t go to El P since Cons and Max will be there. He’s annoyed, but not like he would have been before.
Elo and Juli talk about the changes in Amaya and about what Lucio said about her heart being broken. I miss the details of the conversation, but they did wonder who Lu could have killed. They believe the anonymous mystery note over Lucrecia. Elo quickly comes up with Omar. Point for the Scoobys 2! She remembers the convo over the dining table from weeks ago about how he dies, and Lu’s reaction. Juli is nervous about her father living with a killer. Not a single thought that the note could be fake.
Mariana bring tea to Ivan’s “mother”. She asks what happened and learns that Beca fell off a horse. They chat, Beca says she’s proud of Ivan, which gets a weird look from Mariana, so she has to backpedal and come up with a reason for being proud of this supposed complete stranger that she hasn’t even met yet. She changes the subject to his and Mari’s relationship and wants to hear everything. Meanwhile, Ivan is on the phone with Max to explain what’s up, and Ivan apologizes for not knowing when he’ll get back to the finca. They’re getting married on Friday without any guests to keep Uli from finding out anything. (He mentions a nearby town called, I thought, Pachula, but he only city in Chiapas like that is Tapachula and it’s near the southern border). Wherever it is, it’s not near Tuxtla, and Ivan tells Max when and where everything is happening, and then asks why. Max says he’s just curious, and it gave Ceci a chance to listen in the background.
Amaya lunches with Caro and tells her about Cesar being an accomplice of Lu’s. They send a photographer to (I think) Chiapas to get pics of where Flor died. Amaya also lets Caro know that Cesar might not be Mauro’s son, and that she’s going to fight for Max’s love when all this is over. Caro points out that suckerfish Constanza will to, but Amaya 2.0 won’t give up their love.
Cons and Max get home and turns out the doctor will not release her to travel to Chiapas. Max mentions going down there, and she’s like “Without me?” Ugh. I know she hasn’t actually murdered anyone, but she’s still the worst. And yes, Max is going without her, and he’s going to Ivan’s wedding. Cons acts all jealous and Max, instead of telling her for the hundredth time that this isn’t that kind of relationship, tells her she shouldn’t be worried. He and Amaya are done.
Negro gives Cesar the swiss bank account info. Negro is worried about what the scheme is that Cesar has planned, but he’s told not to. He’ll be taken care of. But Cesar does want those cafetales (coffee trees) taken care of. I think he’s referring to Uli’s, which is where his anger is currently directed.
Cipriano whines and moans to a couple in the plaza about not having anyone to hang with and nowhere to go. The wife couldn’t care less and she’s out. Cip tells his former buddy that he’s in charge and can make his wife do what he wants, but the guy doesn’t want anything to do with Cip anymore either, not after what he did to Mariana. Cip snivels, and no one cares.
Uli talks to his main henchman about no one knowing where Ivan and Mariana are. Uli wants everyone at El P watched and monitored (so Ivan’s concerns where well founded). The maid, who deserves a name even though I don’t know it, listens in as Uli also says he thinks someone inside the house was helping and he wants everyone there investigated. I hope she doesn’t get killed before we learn who she is.
Dinner conversation at the Montesino abode gets to the fraud with the coffee that they bought from Uli, and that he and his accomplice need to pay. Constanza asks Amya, “Isn’t that your relative?” referring to Cip. Both Cesar and Max jump in and point out that he’s not really her relative, just the butthead her madrina was married to. Nice try, Cons. Mauro asks about Mariana. Amaya says she’s fine, and that Cip will pay for what he did. Everyone who does wrong has to pay, with a pointed look at Lucrezia. Then Lu says something that makes Cesar chuckle (I miss these details without subtitles- I assume this was something snarky?) Constanza asks about Mari’s wedding and Cesar tells her they can’t go. Amaya makes a face like she might, in fact, be going.
Later when they’re in their room together, she tells him that Yep!, she’s going. No one will know where so Mari is safe. Cesar snuggles up to her in bed and wants to change her mind, but she coldly tells him she’s going. He’ll do whatever it takes to please her, and what will she do for him, hmmmm, as he holds up his camera phone light on her. She protests his affection, and he gets all Cesar-y.
Mari and Ivan talk about Beca and Ivan thinks it’s weird that she’s all into their wedding plans. Mari tells him that Amaya will be there. Happy!
But less happy is Amaya. She gets out of bed and they argue about Cesar’s need to be patient or end the farce of their marriage. He moves over to his side of the bed. She gets back in and 2 seconds later, he’s on her again. He’s worse than those dogs that can’t stop humping people’s legs. She’s had it, and she leaves the room. He thought-bubbles that no one leaves him.
Amaya stands outside, probably wondering what the heck she was thinking, when Max shows up. He couldn’t sleep. They ask about each other’s pareja. He starts to leave and she thanks him for his help with Cip. He asks her if she’s happy. He noticed that she smiled more when she was with him. She tells him someday he’ll understand, but Max disagrees. She killed the love they had when she married his brother. She cries as he leaves for real this time.
The priest in Chiapas admonishes ”Juan” for sleeping in the street, but finds out it’s Cip. Cip whines to the priest now about no one loving him, no one understands, etc. The priest gives him some priestly advice about changing (yeah right), and then offers him a job and a place to live. Cip suddenly gets picky about this job. It’s a sacristan, sort of the janitor/caretaker or the church. Seems like too much responsibility for this lout, but I’m no forgiving priest.
A package is delivered to Juliana and it’s first edition book she’s very excited about. She thinks it could only be from one person (One?) She calls Jorge, and it was him! Thank god. He’d love to see her at the finca and tries to get her to come. She’ll see after she gets the medical results back and will get back to him.
The next morning, Little Cesar admires himself in a mirror, while Amaya yells boring stuff at him from the bathroom. Once he leaves, she pulls a baggie from her purse to put in some of his hair. Nice.
Elo asks Juliana about Whor and Jorge. Juli has things in common, like they both have a kid (which is about all they have in common), but he doesn’t do it for her. Jorge does. She’s afraid, but Elo is on the side of this relationship working out. She offers to care for Alan so Juli can go to Chiapas.
Max catches Amaya in Mauro’s room. She’s surprised and “hides” the baggie of Mauro’s hair behind her back. He demands to know why she’s there and what she’s hiding. He grabs her, and she says to let go of her or kiss her. Deep stares as we go to commercial.
Lu meets her investigator at an airport. Negro is there and so is Amaya’s photographer. Negro, being more observant than most, wonders why Lu is there and why someone is taking pics of her.
Max has let go of Amaya. He’s not going to kiss her. If she wants a kiss, she can ask her husband. He doesn’t care any more about what she’s hiding or about her. He leaves and she really, really wanted him to kiss her.
Mari and Ivan tell Ceci about the wedding plans and Ivan asks her to be witness. She lies about being happy to do this. But unfortunately, Beca won’t be able to help since she has to stay in bed. Mari want to help with Beca, for something to do and to thank Ceci for all her help, but Ceci isn’t sure about this either. Her tone here is semi-polite, with an edge, just so you know she’s probably done pretending to care about Mari. Mariana then asks about helping at the school. What school? There isn’t one, says Ceci. Why should there be? That’s the parents’ problem. They mention the school back at El P, and Ceci doesn’t look happy with this idea. When she’s gone, Mari notes that she doesn’t seem to like her much, but clueless Ivan disagrees.
Whor talks to a lawyer about getting custody away from that zorra of his ex. He doesn’t care about the cost. He can pay whatever it takes.
Sal and Flavia have met up again. He asks if she misses her old life, but nope. She wants to focus on her new work at the finca and not love. It’s not for her. She blames herself and her own stupidity for the Uli situation. Sal tries to cheer her up, and they plan to meet again the next day. If something is budding here, they’re taking it slow and starting with just a friendship. Good.
Whor and Amaya run into each other at the office, and Whor threatens her with the custody issue. She begs for time, just a few months, and then Vale will understand. But Whor says no. He leaves and she cries as Max shows up to ask what’s wrong. He asks why she cares about Vale now, and she cries that she it’s for Vale’s own good, to protect her. “Protect her from who?” Uh oh face from Amaya.

Happy weekend!
also I bet he hogs the covers
I loved this episode stuff happening; plots, plans, eavesdropping and counter plots
only one thing worries me - what if its like in the beginning of Santa Diabla and the heroine thinks she's being all clever and managing things and the villain knows all about it and has stuff going on behind her back? I know its a long shot but the reason I started wondering is I thought when Cesar was talking w/Whor he said something like "Amaya knows all about me and she will never do anything against me" or maybe "Amaya would never dare do anything against me" possibly I misheard and am just being paranoid *I hope*
I have not watched this episode nor read any of the comments. I may not watch until tomorrow pm. I'll comment sometime tomorrow.
Thanks to all for their commitment to this novela and those keeping us fully up to date with the recaps.
All the best ........
You have to hand it to Flavio Medina--he's giving an outstanding performance being a disgusting character. Somehow, and only briefly, I thought Amaya somehow deserved it. She didn't really think this fake marriage thing through very well...and no, she doesn't know Cesar very well--he's a double-crosser with a keen criminal mind. (When he said he knew everything about her, he had her thoroughly investigated right after or before his accident with her car.)
The reason Amaya's photog is at the airport is to catch Lu at the site of the remains of Flo. Why he needs to take a picture of her at the airport was unnecessary. Also, I thought she told her investigator she doesn't want to be present at the site herself, she just wants to be reassured by him, so Amaya probably won't get what she needs.
Why Negro is there wasn't clear. Cesar told him to go ahead with the plans asap to spread that plague all over Uli's coffee trees. Why Negro has to go is probably only a plot device. He could probably have done it all by phone.
Amaya already had the ticket to go (she was at the computer, printer, ink all that stuff) before Cesar said publicly she wasn't going. Then she told him in private she was. I guess she won.
Kelly--The poor maid at Uli's is Sonia. She's Heriberto's girlfriend. Ivan and Mari promised her a job if things got too dicey at El D. She said she would consider it, because she doesn't really like it there. She doesn't want to leave right away because it would look suspicious that she helped in Mari's escape.
I'm so tired of Uli calling everybody Imbecil!

Great to have you on the team.
I still cannot figure out why Amaya left the ink residue on the desk without throwing away the paper in the receptacle.
Awaiting two results:
1. Juli's blood test
2. The DNA mismatch left by Amaya at a lab.
Glad that Juliana said that she feels nothing for Horacio, but think it poor writing that she said that they each have a child as something in common.
She has far more in common with Jorge - dating back to a great family friendship, his relationship with Alan after his father's death, and his tender, solicitous presence whenever he has been with her. What a great gift -- a first edition of a book that is important to her! Doubt that the bufoon reads much.
That woman is reaping what she sowed in terms of her daughter.
Her ill-conceived plan is backfiring in this regard. I like the way Max tells the truth. She killed his heart - no better way to express it.
All the best to all ....
The lurker is finally caught up. I want to thank you all for all recaps and comments to kept me up to date on this TN. I’m really enjoying it and love reading everyone’s comments.
I think the Elo and Juli will join with Amaya. They are starting to realize something isn’t right.
Thanks again everyone for your contribution! Have a great weekend!
OT: Anita, I’m glad your back. If you don't mind me asking, where were you in south Texas? I’m a south Texan.
Anybody else feel a quick moment of dread when Juli got that package in the mail? Large manila envelopes have been associated with ricin and for a moment I had a flash of fear!
I liked the interaction in Mauro's bedroom and the little tussle/embrace over what she was carrying. I believe Amaya when she says she knows Max still loves her: they have shared some deeply intimate moments and know each other at that deep level that lovers do. That said I also believe Max when he asserts that she is off limits for him since she married Cesar. Will the writers have him slip in his resolve an actually kiss her? I hope not. Even though I want them together, I want Max to uphold his values. AND, I also know he still loves her but I don't think we've heard him have any private, longing thought bubbles like Amaya has. I LOVED those. I love that she is longing for his kisses. Yes! Build that longing and anticipation!
So. Again, thank you Kelly!
Yes! It is interesting and logical that Elo thinks the anonymous note could be related to the Omar murder which she does not know is a fact but suspects. These two ladies are smart and I love that the writers respect our intelligence by not having the good guys all being smiling dopes! Yes!
Oh, yes, we do like Romance, but Max must uphold his values, or he would be a totally UNPRINCIPLED WIMP.
Good to hear from you.
bluejean--I was invited to stay in Port Isabel, to be near the South Padre Island beaches. We did all the museums and explored the Rio Grande Valley. We also went to a music fest at Mission. We heard the Veteran's High School Mariachi band from Mission who competed in a Texas high school mariachi contest. They were excellent. I asked them later if they planned to stay together after high school. They said no, it was just something they did during their high school years. I do believe the young lead singer has a future as a singer. He had a magnificent voice and a great personality to match. I'm mad that I didn't get his name and I can't find it in any of the reports on googley about them. (He was darling cute, too.)
Were we anywhere close to you? (You don't have to name the town.)
I'm so glad you had a great time in Texas. We love South Padre Island. We go in the off season like September when there aren’t so many people and the rates are cheaper. There still is a good amount of people in the off season. It’s still warm in September in South Texas. We go about every 3 or 4 month down to the Valley as it’s called down here. I’m 2 hours away from the Valley and 2 hours away from San Antonio. We take turns between the 2 and we always eat at least once at Pappadeaux Seafood Restaurant. It’s Cajun food.
