Take your time, Jarifa! I won't even get to watch until tomorrow morning.

Was it good? The previews looked painful.

Capítulo # 23 "More Questions than Answers"

Part 1

We left off with Rocîo telling the Carmona's not to sign the partnership agreement with her uncle Santiago because he was lying to them. María is not happy seeing Rocío in her home and of course Facundo is not either. They put the pressure on her to just tell them the whole story already. She is having a difficult time she says because she feels like she is being a traitor to her family. Much to her and the Carmona's disadvantage, she folds under the pressure and ends up leaving without telling them anymore. They all leave for the ceremony, Margarito included. A cute thing in the scene was grandpappy Porfirio saying that Jacinto's freshly combed hair looked like a cow had licked it.

Next door Francis is trying to get Felipe to move and get dressed to go to the signing ceremony. He is tired and doesn't really want to go to such a boring event. Unfortunately for her, she mentions how afraid she was when she thought his family had lost all their money. That does not register well with him and he asks what she would have done if his really were poor. She says she honestly didn't know. Anyway, Francis gets Felipe to go to the ceremony.

At the signing ceremony, grandpappy Porfirio is putting the moves on Conchita his "manguito peracón" and she is not enjoying it. Santiago from the podium announces Facundo as his new partner and friend who will be investing in the Velasco company. Facundo looks serious even angry as he shares the podium with Santiago. They all applaud. Santiago has an old professor present the documents. Both Santiago and Facundo sign, Santiago goes to give Facundo a brotherly hug. Facundo avoids him by handing back his pen.

The reception/celebration is being held in the same room. The Carmona kids are eating the canapés and discussing how that even though Margarito eats everything they shouldn't give him those canapés because they are made with ham and they would not want him to be a cannibal. (Very funny)

Part 2

Jacinto is trying to get grandpappy Porfirio to try the caviar. Porfirio is just looking for a hunk of bread and some hardboiled eggs with a little salt. Even Jacinto telling him that caviar is fish eggs doesn't do the trick. Porfirio starts to do his hardboiled egg talk with Conchita. Grandma Perpétua calls him a dirty old man. Porfirio says he is one, he has every right to be one and likes being one and that being one is a part of life. (So there!)

Grandpapy Porfirio asks a visibly upset Facundo what kind of business deal did they make. There is no answer.

Francis comes over to Carmen to tell her she is so happy Carmen has a new boyfriend so she won't be bothering "her" Felipe. Carmen makes sure Francis knows Felipe came over to her house to see her.

Esteban is on the scene and asks Isabel how they got Facundo to sign the agreement. She tells him it is not his business.

Facundo is wandering around visibly upset. Santiago wants to take a photo with him which Facundo avoids. María and granny Perpétua know something is up with him.

Facundo and Isabel have a conversation out of earshot of the reception. She apologizes and tries to make nice with him but he will have none of it. He wants her to stay away from María. No more spa visits. She says she is just trying to help María adjust to life in the city. She would never do anything to put their marriage at risk.

Beto still wants to know what Rocío wanted to tell them at the house. She doesn't want to talk and seeks refuge in a stall in the ladies room. He follows her in and tells her he is not going until she tells him what she was going to say.

Part 3

Rocío comes out of the stall angry. She tells Beto the harm has already been done. Beto keeps asking so she tells him that Santiago forced Facundo to sign. Santiago blackmailed him. Beto then logically asks how. Rocío begs him not to make her tell him but Beto keeps insisting. Rocío tells him that her aunt Isabel wen to bed with Facundo. So now Beto is shocked and over the edge. He tells her it cannot be true. His mother does not deserve that. She says she didn't believe it either until she saw the photos. Beto is crazy upset and in a state of denial.

Estefany has arrived on the scene and is talking to an unhappy Esteban on her way to Santiago and Isabel. Isabel asks Santiago why Estefany is there and if he is seeing her again.

Back in the kadies room, Beto is overwhelmed and keeps asking Rocío if she is sure. She says that that is how they made Facundo sign: they blackmailed him with the photos. Beto goes to find his dad.

At the same time, Estefany is greeting Isabel. It turns out that they they have not seen each other since the day that Isabel stole Santiago.. Estefany was never going to forget the woman who stole her fiance away from her right before her wedding. Estefany read about the signing in the newspaper. Santiago is surprised to see her there. Isabel accuses him of being in contact with her. He denies any contact with her. Estefany is there because she wants to do some business with Santiago's construction company. Isabel tells her if she wants to do business with the company, she can do it with Esteban.

María and Facundo wonder who Estefany is. Grandpappy Porfirio has had enough of the reception no tacos, no pulque, etc.

Rocío tries to stop Beto but cant't. An overwrought Beto enters the reception area crying and shouting "How could you do this dad?" He continues to shout that he now knows why his dad signed the deal and what he did. María tells him to not be so rude. Facundo tells him to calm down.

Part 4

Grandpappy Porfirio just takes off his belt to give Beto a beating. Facundo moves Beto out of the way and Porfirio ends up beating the floor as his pants fall down and reveal boxer shorts with colored eggs with little chicks peeking out. (Some welcome comic relief)

María and Carmen put Facundo on the spot and insist he tell them what Beto found out. Isabel saves the day by saying she can no longer hide it: she asked Facundo to become a partner because their property was going to be seized and were going to end up in the street.

María asks how could that be when Facundo lent them so many millions of pesos already. Isabel now knows that Santiago has played her. She looks at him and he just shakes his head.

Rocîo apologizes to Beto for telling him. He is angry that she didn't tell them before the signing. She says she tried but they just cut her short. He says she is just like her aunt and uncle. Beto needs to be alone.

Isabel now wants to know how exactly much money Facundo leant Santiago and exactly what he did with it. María asks her if she did not know about the loan. Isabel says she didn't. María then asks Facundo why he didn't tell her about the real reason for signing. Isabel jumps in by saying it was because she Isabel asked Facundo to not say anything to anyone. María tells Isabel it is the last time she will put herself between herself and Facundo. Granny Perpétua isn't buying it that Beto was so upset over Isabel's explanation for the signing. She accuses Isabel of not telling the whole story. Isabel ends up on blaming it all on Rocío. The Carmona"s decide it is time to go and leave behind a quarreling Isabel and Santiago.

Part 5

The Carmona's arrive home. The kids talk about how they never saw Beto angry like that. Granny Perpétua says Facundo should have put an end to it when Beto started. Grandpappy Porfirio says he just should have let him beat Beto.Beto arrives and shouts now is the time to do some serious talking. Facundo just glowers at him. Carmen attacks Beto for being disrespectful to her dad. She hits him on the chest. Grandpappy encourages her to hit him hard. Beto tells Carmen to butt out because she doesn't know what she is talking about. Facundo finally puts an end to the bickering. Beto and Facundo go off to the boys's room to talk man to man.

Over at the Velasco's, Isabel is yelling at Rocío for what she did. Rocío can't see why it matters anyway since they got what they wanted. Santiago tries to calm her down telling her how much effort thy put into that business deal. Rocío says for her it was no business deal; it was a swindle. Isabel asks Rocío how by leading her useless life does she expect to party and drink like she does if she has no money. The arguing goes on.

Facundo and Beto have their talk. Facundo tells him there is nothing between him and Isabel. They are not lovers. Facundo does not know how he got in this mess. He will never forgive himself. He explains he was drunk amd doesn't even remember what happened. María has always been the most sacred thing to him. Beto says his mother does not deserve this. Beto is beside himself and doesn't know what he is going to do. Facundo says he know that he taught them never to lie but Facundo asks him to not tell María anything because this will never happen again. Beto says he always thought that Facundo was a moral man who loved his family; whose family was important to him; but after this, he knows that is not the case. Jacinto knocks on the door and says that he wants to go to bed already. Facundo puts out his hand. Beto raises his to slap it but kisses it instead. (I felt like I was watching the Godfather for a second).

Jacinto comes in to go to bed and Facundo goes to find his pj's.

Isabel, and Santiago are in their room and Isabel wants info about the loans to the Carmona's and about Estefany. He said he explained it all on the way home. He got the first loan to pay off the terrible employee problems he was having. She is angry he didn't rell her. For him, it was just business. From now on, she wants to know everything. He wouldn't want to know her as an enemy. He cannot believe she is threatening him.

Facundo just wants to sleep with slices of cucumbers? squash? on his eyes but María has other ideas. She is concerned about Beto and his disrespect.Facindo assures ner it will. Ot happen again. She doesn't like him hiding things from her. He won't. If he does, María tells him she will pack up the kids and nead back to their town.

Part 6

Back at the Velasco's, Isabel is letting Santiago have it because she wasn't able to pay her bills and Ale wanted to sell her bike to help out while he had all of that Carmona money all along. She will never forgive him . She wants a complete accounting of bills and payments. He wonders to himself what she would do if she found out about Estefany's apartment and the other construction company he has. He says he is innocent and wants to be left in peace. She also tells him she doesn't believe the Estefany story either. She knows he is going out with her.

Jarifa

You are amazing, Jarifa! Thank you for such a detailed recap!

Ooo... So Estefany and Santi almost go married.

Jarifa- I will ditto what Sara said. Amazing recap!

This was a serious episode. Lots of revelations and drama. Very interesting to find out Santi and Stefi were about to get married when he dumped her for Isa. Now I understand her hatred for Isa.

The previews were hopeful. Looks like Facundo and Beto will transfer their guilt and angst and energy to working at the company and watching over their investment.

Thanks for mentioning some of the funny moments. The Margarito cannibal thing had me giggling. As did abuelo's egg boxers and his dislike of fish eggs.

It seemed to mean that Conchita was enjoying some of abuelo's compliments. She did look nice in that red dress (and bizarre striped thigh high stockings).

It seemed to me, not mean.

"The previews were hopeful. Looks like Facundo and Beto will transfer their guilt and angst and energy to working at the company and watching over their investment."

Watching on hulu, I don't get to see previews. So glad to read this, Vivi. I would like to see them become good businessmen.

Porfirio dropping his pants was hilarious. And Conchita screaming "we can see you *huevos*" really had me giggling! (Cause I'm a middle school boy.)

Vivi, this episode sure was packed with drama. From the previews it does look look like maybe a little lighter episode to ight. I am enjoying the pacing of this novela.

Sara, I was surprised how serious the relationship between Estefany and Santiago had been. Middle school boy humor is some of the best.

It was sad to see Beto so disillusioned when Facundo fell off his pedestal and turned out to be just human.

It is interesting how Beto and Rocío are the voices of morality ( albeit absolute sometimes) in their families and Granny Perpétua and even Grandpappy Porfirio ( at times ) the voices of common sense and wisdom. The decision makers and power brokers are just stuck in the muck of living.

I am still liking Santiago who clearly has not given up on Rocío in spite of her revelation to Beto. It would be nice to find out the whole story about Isabel's sister and how she came to have custody of Rocío and Felipe sooner rather than later.

More Margarito tonight, please!

Jarifa

Wonderful comments about Beto, Rocío, Perpetúa and Porfirio! The decisions makers do seem to stumble and bumble a bit.

"It would be nice to find out the whole story about Isabel's sister and how she came to have custody of Rocío and Felipe sooner rather than later."

This got me thinking about the extension. (Yes, I've really been obsessing over the news.) There were 150ish episodes of the Chilean original and it was my understanding that Larrosa's original plan was just 120ish episodes.

IMO we do still have plenty of story options (Rocio and Feli's background, Ale/Susana/Andres triangle, Feli/Carmen/Diego triangle, Fac and Beto in the office, Estefy/Esteban to name a few.)

Maybe an extension won't be horrible.

(If anyone at Televisa is reading this please don't think that means you can go crazy.)

Jarifa, terrific recap. There was a lot going on at that party and you covered it all. Muchas gracias.

Facundo and Beto’s scene was moving. I’m glad that in the end Beto showed his dad some understanding and forgiveness. Twenty years of great fatherhood should count for something.

I laughed way too much when Porfirio’s pants fell. The funniest part was Conchita pulling them up for him. Maybe she does like the old dude a little bit.

Hmmm, between Isa and Estefany, I don’t know. Both are pretty selfish and cynical. Isa must still have feelings for Santi despite no sex in five months cause she sure defended her territory when Estefany showed up.

Sara, I am with you hoping an extension does not ruin this. Unfortunately it just seems to be the nature of the beast to squeeze every single advertising dollar out of any successful show damned be the plot line. That is why I had such respect for Seinfeld. They went out on top. As far as episode number, one of the comedies I have enjoyed the most was LEP: 175 about 20-22min. episodes which would be only around 88-90 episodes on a 40-42 minute/ for a one hour format. I would love to see more of those. I can dream, right?

Niecie, the scene was really moving between Facundo and Neto. I hope he can fully forgive his father eventually.

Should be interesting seeing how/where Santiago is going to jump with both Estefany and Isa being their demanding selves.

Jarifa

What's LEP?

Los exitosos Pérez.

Jarifa

Ah. Thanks Jarifa. I definitely wish we could go back to shorter runs.

How long was HQEDNS?

I never saw that one.
Jarifa

I didn't either, but I think Vivi enjoyed it.

As long as the animals are included in the extension I'll be able to bear it.

Thanks Jarifa.

Looking forward to Fac and Beto "interfering" in the business.

Nanette

I hope their interference is super successful!

Hasta Que el Dinero nos Separe was 231 episodes long. That is not a typo. The fact that even with being so darned long and drawn out that we still liked the tn by the end, speaks to what a fun show it was. I hope to never see/recap another show that long ever again though.

I am by no means saying I want a 231 episode run of Amores con trampa...but it gives me hope that Lorrosa can maintain the fun for the long haul.

Of course, the company on the patio makes it even more fun! ;-)

Jarifa, love the recap. Thank you. Thank you.

Didn't realize HQEDNS was extended however it seemed to last forever, in a good way. Most of the time it was entertaining so I hope the same thing happens with– an Amores extension.

This novela is still going at fast pace with secrets being revealed quickly and the plot moving forward. Agree it would be great if Facundo and Beto would take the reins of the company and turn it around.

Capítulo #24. "Two Carmonas are Better than One"

Part 1

More post reception discussions:

At the Carmona's Facundo is awake in bed thinking that María is right that he has to do something before there is no hope.

At the Velasco's Santiago tells Isabel he hasn't seen Estefany since he broke up with her. He swears on his children. He does see Isabel's emotion as jealousy which means that she still loves him, right? No, she loved him a lot but now she is just taking care of her interests since they are both in it for the money. Santiago looks mad and sad at the same time. He thinks that tomorrow he will have to find out why and how Estefany dared to come to the reception. Santiago asks Isabel why she hates Rocío. She says she doesn't. Santiago tells her that Rocío is right that it really does not matter if they keep the Facundo incident a secret because he has already signed the agreement. It does not matter if María finds out or not. Santiago thinks the only reason she made up the excuse at the reception to keep the lie intact was to help out Facundo. Isabel denies it and tells Santiago to let her take care of things because if all of the Carmona's fond out they wer swindled they will work actively against them.

The next scene is an animated dream Isabel has with a rooster being roasted on a spit amd her cheering. The rooster quickly wakes she and Santiago up.

In the Carmona kitchen, granny Perpétua is talking to María. María is worried she is losing Facundo. Granny tells her that Facundo adores her. The problem is that skinny thing. (Isabel). Poor stuttering embarrassed Jacinto comes in with some sheets he wants to put in the wash . Turns out he wet his bed last night. That turns out to the topic at breakfast (poor Jacinto) where Susana says that Margarito doesn't even wet the bed. Maybe he is not getting enough attention. Grandpappy Porfirio brushes it off as no big deal because he wet his bed as a kid, too. (Probably the best response)

Turns out Carmen did not get her driving license like I thought last week. Today she is going to get her driving test. She does not want Beto to take her. She is still angry with him. Looks like she drives herself.

Beto and Facundo are talking and Facundo wants to know what he can do to have Beto trust him again. Beto's answer is Facundo can do nothing since he committed the biggest mistake he could have.

At the office Santiago asks Esteban to invent a document for Isabel showing what all of the 50 million pesos were spent on. He will not give Isabel a red cent.

Part 2

Facundo shows up at the Velasco compamy offices. He calls out for all of the office workers to come out to the reception area so he can introduce himself. Santiago quickly comes out with Esteban and lets Facundo know there are no available offices for him. Facundo makes sure the workers know he is the one paying their salaries. Santiago also lets him know that his only responsibility as partner is to provide the money. He reminds him that Facundo was the one with his wife and that the blackmail was Facundo's fault. When Facundo says he will be watching where his money is going, Santiago exasperated but still smiling tells Facindo he knows nothing about construction and if he wants to learn he can learn at home. There are no decisions for Facundo to make because if Facundo had read the fine print in the partner agreement he would know that all final decisions are to be made by Santiago. Facundo leaves saying things will not remain like this and almost slams the glass door. Santiago says to himself: go ahead and slam it, break it, you'll end up paying for it.

Isabel comes by to see María with a check for her share from the sale of her shawls.she also apologizes for the whole mess at the reception. She blames it all on Rocío. María tells her if she wants something or even to talk to Facundo, to talk to her first. Isabel will also help to keep Beto and Rocío apart.

Beto visits Rocío and apologizes for being rude to her the night before. He does not want to loose what they have due to the problems of others. Rocío also tells him not to be so hard on his dad because the real fault lies with her uncle and aunt; especially her aunt. If he cannot forgive Facundo for himself, forgive him for the family. She finishes with telling him that since Facundo and Santiago are partners the Carmona's need to be careful because Santiago could take it all.

María is not happy when a defeated Facundo arrives home in the middle of the day having apparently just let himself get pushed out of the Velasco offices. Diego overhears their conversation and tells Facundo he needs to be at those offices looking after their interests. He offers to go with him just as they would have done in the country amd they can install themselves at fhe Velasco offices.

Estefany visits Santiago at work. He asks her what she was doing showing up at the signing/reception. He didn't want Isabel to know she had returned to his life. What was she thinking? She lays it on real thick. It never occurred to her. She has no intentions of being a hidden lover her whole life. She is not that kind of woman. She wants to be with him. Free to show her face. She wants him to leave Isabel. Next, Isabel calls and she wants money, yes, she paid María. Santiago talks about having put Facundo in his place. He is in such a good mood, Isabel cannot even put him in a bad one.

Varmen arrives very happily at University having passed her drivers test. Diego sees her and invites her to a "Vodka Shower" at a club that night.

Part 3

"Carmen" arrives in previous paragraph.

Back at work, Santiago is asking Esteban what did Facundo do. Esteban says he could not stop him. There we see Facundo and Beto having found a vacant office decorating it in their own ranchero style with bull horns up on the walls, etc. Beto says there can't be just one Carmona at the company, there needs to be two. Facundo thinks that with Beto being so helpful things must be a-okay between them. Beto tells him he is just doing it for the family.

At the Velasco offices, Facundo introduces himself again and Beto to all of the office workers. He then invites them all to a barbecue at his house tomorrow. He sends Beto out to invite the construction workers to come, too. So that they can really enjoy themselves, he is also giving them the day after tomorrw off to recuperate. Santiago is upset. Facundo tells him what his father taught him about dealing with workers out in the country. Happy workers work harder. So that is how he plans to handle things here.

Back at home, Susana lets it out that Carmen Is going out with a guy not Felipe. Permission, permission. Who finally gives her permission or her date with Diego? Facundo, of course. Nobody to be her chaperone so she just needs to call in every half hour.

Some good physical comedy with a calm yoga performing Isabel being pulled out of her poses by a crazed exasperated Santiago just wishing Facundo would go back to his ranch.

Just so happens that Francis and Diego end up at the same club as Carmen and Felipe. They meet up.Lots of kissy face going on with both couples.Francis is sure to point out Diego kissing Carmen and when Felipe and Francis start in, Carmen looks uncomfortable having them right next to her. She is clearly not happy.

Jarifa

Thanks, Jarifa!

I love the Carmomas at the office. And Facundo is already winning over the workers (I'm sure finally getting paid also earned their loyalty). Now, he and Beto just need someone to tutor them on all things construction company. Nice to see Beto sharing a laugh with his dad, although he is still deeply disappointed in him. Really like that it was Rocio who put the idea into Beto's head.

Diego and Francis planned the whole kiss thing. Carmen didn't seem moved by the kiss (more by the sip of vodka), but she didn't seem to mind it either.

Thank you Jarifa!!!! Reading your recaps before I watch always helps my comprehension. I appreciate your doing Wednesday and last night's episodes. You're a gem!

Yes, I felt like Porfirio had the best response to Jacinto wetting the bed. Such a sad little set of scenes (I didn't like that Maria made that comment about laundry being women's work, though.) I hope they start paying more attention to Jacinto soon!!

I loved Maria "I would have given permission if you had asked. But now that your trying to sneak around...NO."

And didn't Maria tell Isa that in the Carmona household the decisions are made together. Facundo seemed to forget that when it came to Carmen.

Will the employee cook-out be tonight? I didn't get to see previews. Can't wait to see that.

Why can't Francis see her plan is stupid?

Vivi, Francis is turning out to be very tenacious with her Diego/Carmen plan. Felipe already saw them together and kissing but she really keeps pushing it. Will her plan backfire some how?

Sara, I have to say I am happy doing Wednesdays and Thursdays. It is turning out to be more fun than I had thought it would be. Just keep those headers coming!

I was thinking the same thing about Facundo unilaterally deciding Carmen could go. Also, I hope that Jacinto has not turned into the problem child after being labelled as "gifted."

From the previews it looks like the barbecue is tonight and that Beto still is having a problem with Facundo.

My favorite part from last night:

María asks Isabel: ¿Le paró los carros a su cabra loca siquiera por el problema que armó anoche? Then Isabel asks her to say it in "castellano". An old set-up in the novela world, but it makes me laugh every time.

Jarifa

Btw, I am missing Diana on the patio.

Jarifa

Jarifa- I liked the little bit between Isa and Maria too.

I am missing Diana, too!!!! Does anyone know anything??

I miss the periodic visits from UA, too. But I'm sure she is resting up after her work on MCET.

Jarifa-It makes me happy to know you are enjoying recapping. It is a fun task. I will happily provide those headers for you! If you ever need anything, a link to my email address is in my profile.

Didn't realize HQEDNS was extended however it seemed to last forever, in a good way. Most of the time it was entertaining so I hope the same thing happens with– an Amores extension.

Thank you for this GinCA! As long as I'm entertained (which really isn't hard to do), I'm good.

And it's beating a dead horse, but I am REALLY enjoying this show!

Thanks, Jarifa. Glad you're enjoying doing the recaps as much as we enjoy reading them!

Poor Jacinto. I do like that nobody browbeat him about wetting the bed (agree Porfirio's response was the best), but maybe he needs to see a doctor?

Beto doesn’t know like we do that his dad was given a roofie and didn’t sleep with Isa, so I’m going easy on him. Probably in Beto’s mind his dad was foul to be out drinking with Isa in the first place, much less getting drunk and not remembering what happened.

The yoga was the funniest scene. Yoga doesn't seem to keep Isa calm though cause she's always drinking and taking pills.

Love father and son setting up shop in the office.

All the Carmonas need to beware of city folks bearing booze. If Carmen gets drunk, I'll be ticked.

Niecie, so true about the Carmonas needing "to beware of city folks bearing booze." No, we don't need Carmen getting drunk. She didn't like what she was having at the club. Let us hope she finds nothing really to her liking.

Jarifa

Thank you, Jarifa, for keeping me informed with the recaps. I pick up the gist but not everything, that's for certain.

Though it seems natural for Facundo and Beto to wear their country attire at work since they are country boys, I would''t mind seeing both of them in crisp business suits. They'll outdo Santi and Esteban in the handsomeness department.

How will Facundo and Beto learn the business. Maybe the employees will give them some help.
Either that, or do the opposite of what Santi has been doing.

GinCA

Thanks Jarifa !!! I do hope they don't ruin the show by extending; it's fast paced and things actually happen. The Beto Facundo scene the other night was so very well acted, and I love that the two of them are moving in on Santiago. I figured out what bothers me about Carmen. I think she's miscast. She looks older than Maria and she prances around and dresses like Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz." Maybe at the end she will be shown as having matured and her real age won't be so pronounced. I wonder how old she really is?

GinCa, I sure agree they would look wonderful in suits with nice white shirts. Maybe they will give us that treat eventually. Sure hope so.

Anon 5:13, the pacing of this one is making it a lot of fun. I too am liking that "things actually happen." I have a short attention span. :)

Jarifa
