Amores con trampa #5 4/3/15

Thanks again to NovelaMaven and Marta for all the work you did this week. Jarifa, thank you too for the comments you left earlier today!

I'll get right to the new stuff (bear in mind I miss most of the jokes)...

Esteban tries to convince the workers not to quit. He understands they haven't been paid...He hasn't been paid either! But the company needs them. He promises to give them all bonuses if they stay. Santiago arrives with Facundo and Beto. He tries to convince Facundo what a great project it is. It smells like comfort and well-being for families! Facundo introduces his son and Facundo meets one of the workers. Santiago desperately tries to close the deal, but Beto thinks this is not the best time to make decisions. They've only just arrived in the city! Facundo agrees Facundo wants to think about it (echarle una buena pensadera.) Where did the soccer ball come from?

Isa denies there is anything going on with Facundo. Really? How could María think that? A customer (Jenny) walks in and screams that she *must* have María's chal! She loves it! She yanks it off María. Jenny is dragged away and continues to covet the chal. An idea occurs to Isa. She invites María for coffee.

At the university, Francisca invites Carmen(Yoya) to a party. A costume party. We all know where this is going. Don't do it Yoya!

Over coffee, Isa denies having anything to do with Facundo. She is a married and decent woman! María explains that Facundo has always been a flirt and there's always been a supply of loose and flirty women running after him. They get down to busines. Isa thinks she can sell María's shawls in the boutique. She asks her to make 5. María is sure she could...but she left all her "lana"(wool) back in San Bartolo. Play on the word "lana" (money.) María thinks it would be a good distraction to make the shawls. Isa wants her to get to work today!

Conchita mentions to Isa that she hasn't been paid for last month. Isa makes excuses about how despistado (distracted) Santiago is and says she'll talk to him. Rocío comes in and asks her aunt if they are so bad off they can't even pay Conchita. She knows they are seconds away from sleeping under a bridge. She also knows that her uncle plans to bilk the neighbor out of his money. Isa denies it and says Santiago is not a swindler. Rocío asks why Isa made Santiago sleep on the couch then. Isa tries to play it off, but Rocío isn't buying it and starts sucking the end of her thumb (Anyone care to explain that? Isa took offense and told her not to be disrespectful) Isa swears Santiago is taking care of the money promblems and asks Rocío not to say anything to her brother or her cousin Alejandra. Rocío says she'll stay quiet for now, but they better not try to cheat the Carmonas.

Yoya is not happy that her mother is making her go with Beto. Jacinto wants to go dressed as a chicken. Beto admires the costume María made. Yoya finally agrees that if Beto goes, he can't talk at the party.

Felipe wants to know if Francisca has talked to Carmencita(Yoya) and is pleasantly surprised to hear she's been invited to the fiesta. Francisca asks what interest he has in Carmen and he explains about his uncle wanting them to get along with the neighbors. He adds that his uncle wants to do business with the Carmonas. Francisca asks if he's gotten his allowance back. He hasn't but he got a job: Delivering pizzas!!

Isa is mortified by the idea of Felipe delivering pizzas! Felipe tries to explain that he's not getting an allowance and it's honest work. Santiago agrees. At least someone is doing something to help the family besides spending money. They all head in for dinner. Beto runs over and stops Rocío. He reports the he watched his father like a hawk and made sure he didn't agree to anything. Everything looked normal to Beto, but Santiago was pretty eager to close the deal. They both agree they can't let Facundo sign anything or do business with Santiago. Beto thanks Rocío for helping him. She gives him a lingering kiss on the cheek.

Carmen and Beto are ready for the costume party. Facundo takes pictures with his camera. Well, he tries to Susana has to help him a little. Facundo reminds Beto to take care of his sister as if it were life or death. He hands over the keys to the truck and Beto looks thrilled. Facundo tells him to drive carefully and reminds them he'll smell it if they've been drinking too much. (They should have been dressed like lambs. They're headed for slaughter.)

They arrive at the party and Francisca greets them....without a costume. She tells them to head inside. Carmen asks about her costume, but Francisco just leads them to the house. Needless to say, everyone begins to laugh and make fun. Felipe intervenes. Carmen tells him that Francisco told her it was a costume party. Of course the wench denies it. Carmen wants to leave, but Beto sees Rocío and wants to stay. Carmen decides to stay too, much to Francisca's surprise. Not only are they staying, but they'll be dancing too! Carmen asks Felipe to dance and he accepts. Go girl! Beto gets bullish with Rocío.

Isa tells Santiago that Rocío knows the truth. Santiago changes the subject and tells her how stubborn Facundo is being and that he's not going to invest. Santiago will have to sell her car and her boutique. Isa is beside herself! But she's got projects planned for the boutique!! Santiago's ruse works though. Isa finally agrees to seduce Facundo so she can keep her boutique. That's the only reason she's doing it, she tells Santiago. She's been owner of that boutique for years and she's not going to let him put that down (No voy a permitir que me ningunees). Santiago insists that he's in charge and he'll be sleeping in his own bed tonight. He orders her to take of his shoes and rub his feet...con crema!

Diego wonders when Rocío will stop making eyes the the ranchero. Felipe compliments Carmen's dancing, but Francisca has had enough of Carmen dancing with her man and a fight breaks out. Francisca slaps the stew out of her and I am disappointed that Carmen seems to be losing the fight. An expensive Italian vase that belonged to Francisca's abuela is broken in the fracas. Francisca calls her an idiot. Carmen FINALLY slaps her back.

The fight has continued through the commercial break and Francisca finally makes everyone leave...everyone except her flunkies friends. They have to stay and clean.

María and her mother are having a little target practice. Facundo is impressed with his suegra. Isa comes by to explain that she wants to plant some fruit trees and thought Facundo could advise (asesorar) her. Facundo asks his wife and mother-in-law if they remember the apple tree they had. It bore really big fruit. Perpetua remembers. People would come from everywhere (un titipuchal de lados). Facundo had a reputation for planting things. Isa thinks that's great. He's just the person to help. Will he go with her to help? That is if "Mary" doesn't mind. Facundo speaks for his wife (boo! hiss) and says she's busy with the shawls. María thinks she can do them later, but Isa thinks they need to be done as soon as possible. Facundo grabs Isa and off they go!

A conversation about which fruit tree to plant. Facundo first suggests una higuera (fig tree) But then he remembers it can be a bothersome (cansón)raise (super loose translation.) He asks which is more important to her: the tree or the fruit. He goes on about peaches (duraznos) and having to harvest them before the birds eat them. Something about cold weather. He presents her with some beautiful flowers. Isa is touched. He finally decides that what Isa needs is a cherry tree (cerezo)!

María works on her shawl and Perpetua wonders why her daughter let Facundo go off with Isabel. María explains they've worked everything out and are going to do business together. Perpetua is still suspicious. Meanwhile, Abuelo sneaks away.

Facundo carries the tree and puts it in the truck. Isa notes to herself how strong he is. She thanks him sweetly. Facundo thanks her for being so nice to his wife and working with her. Isa comments on how well she weaves. She also asks about Facundo's business with Santiago. Facundo explains he's still thinking, but Isa tells him the trick to business is grabbing opportunities when they arise. Take risks! That's what she and María did! Decision made and done!

Francisca tells Carmen she will have to pay for the vase she broke. Carmen stands up to her and thinks Fran is just mad because she couldn't make a fool of her. When Fran tells her that everyone at the university is laughing at her and she should just go sleep with her pig, Carmen attacks her. Felipe breaks up the fight. Francis accuses him of liking Carmen and she stomps off. Later he finds Carmen and tries to comfort her and get to the bottom of things. He knows that Francis and others are bothering her. He promises to make sure no one bothers her anymore. He hugs her.

Diego and Rocío are making out...but she's not that into it. Santiago interrupts and throws Diego out. Rocío can't believe he's going to make a scene about him kissing her boyfriend. She's not a little girl anymore. Santiago is there he knows Rocío is worried about his plan to do business with the neighbor. Santiago loves his family and he wants to save it. Rocío doesn't think cheating the Carmona's is the way to do it. She can handle being the niece or the daughter of an bad businessman...but not a swindler.

Facundo comes home and María and Perpetua have bad news. His father has disappeared!

Apá is out and about in the DF, asking for boiled eggs and boarding the micro.

Isa admires the flowers that she got from Facundo. Conchita tells her to be careful. The pollen can stain her clothes and the furniture. Santiago comes home and asks how things went. Isa explains the trees are on the patio and the gardener can plant them. She's disgusted to learn there is no money for even a gardener. The doorbell is ringing like crazy. It's Facundo and Beto looking for abuelo. Santiago is going to help them look for him. This is a golden opportunity to look good for the Carmona's.

Everyone searches. Santiago wonders if there is a hard-boiled egg stand anywhere and frets about Facundo's driving. Isa and María search as well. Rocío and Beto finally find him. Abeulo checks out the ladies walking by.

After the commercial break, Abuelo is fitted with a GPS so he can be located if he wanders away. Abuelo wants a hard-boiled egg. Perpetua and Abeulo exchange insults (zonzo or sonso for him and zonza or sonsa for her.) María thanks Rocío for finding Abeulo. Santiago thinks it's great that they are helping each other.

Beto asks his mother if she likes Roció any better. No. She does not. It's the last time she's going to tell him. She doesn't want him near her. He swears they are just friends. He doesn't know anyone in the DF. María tells him to make other friends. She doesn't want him near Rocío.

Facundo thinks a think. He's made his decision. He calls for María.

Isa does yoga (I'm pretty impressed) and warns Santiago to forget about selling her truck and her boutique. He calls her Senora Miyagi. Hee hee. She tells him they are BOTH going to make decisions. He wonders if she's hit her head. If he wants the Carmonas to invest, he needs her. He wonders if that's a threat. A call from Esteban distracts him. The workers have all gone on strike.

María can't believe he decision he's made. He kisses her and leaves. Beto asks his mom where his dad is going and when she tells him his father has made his decision, Beto runs out to stop him.

Santiago is freaking out about the strike when Facundo comes in. Yes! He is going to be Santiago's business partner! They shake hands.

Beto rides Pinto through the streets of the DF and leaves him with the guard outside the Velasco offices.

Facundo is impressed that he papers are already prepared. That's one prepared company. Santiago tells him where to sign. He's just about to sign when Beto runs in and throws the paper off the desk. He informs his father that Santiago just wants to con him and steal his money. Beto knows this because Santiago's own niece told him!

Comments:
I think Itati might indeed be the weakest link. The performances of the other actors are standing out to me. I'm ambivalent to her for right now.

Sara, I have not read the recap or seen this episode, but I know you did an outstanding job. I just wanted to chime in to let you know that I read your message from yesterday. Thank you, and I also look forward to reading your recaps and comments. I still need to catch up. I have been reading the recaps, but I am watching the 2nd capitulo right now. Maybe I can catch up this weekend. Wish me luck.

Hasta pronto

Good luck! I'm glad you saw my comment!

I'm interested to hear what people thought of this episode. Tonight felt a little fillery? And some stuff felt forced.

I blame the lack of Margarito and Susana. After Susana, I like Beto best.

I actually like the idea of María making the shawls for the boutique if it means she can have a little more financial independence. That is...if Isa doesn't cheat her.

Oy the typos and errors! I'll fix them mañana.

Sara, the recap was excellent. Thanks! I agree on "lambs to the slaughter" costumes would have been more appropriate.

Highpoints:

Grandpappy Porfirio on the loose preoccupied with finding the "pure glory" of hard boiled eggs with a little salt and pretty girls; later fitted with his GPS.

The search for Grandpappy with everyone shouting his name (even Santiago) out of the SUV windows.

Alberto on horseback coming to save the day and finally telling Facundo the truth about the swindling scheme before he can sign the contract.

Lowpoint:

Carmen going to the party after the girls have been total b***ches to her. Why would she go looking for more grief at their hands? So the writers can push her relationship with Felipe along?

I really like most of the characters except for Francis which is a switch for me. That being said, I agree that we need more Margarito!

All in all, a fun episode.

Jarifa

The more I see the more I love Santiago. He cracks me up every time!

And you know... Except for Francis and Diego everyone is pretty likeable.

Sara, you write with such heart, humor and wit. You paint a vivid picture with your carefully chosen words. I continue to be impressed with your fantastic vocabulary selections which are a wonderful treat. Stellar recap.

"(They should have been dressed like lambs. They're headed for slaughter)" was perfection.

I so enjoyed that you noted several seemingly small but not insignificant details including "Where did the soccer ball come from" and "Rocío isn't buying it and starts sucking the end of her thumb". I wondered if the ball was placed as a prop or just happened to be there and also if the actors kicking it around was scripted or impromptu. As for the thumb sucking? I was gaping at the screen wondering if I was really seen that! I have absolutely no idea what that was all about.

Tonight's episode was minus the animals and Susana (as you noted) and the usual charm was missing somewhat.

I would like Maria to become a lot more independent. I'm still trying to decide how much I like Facundo - he has exhibited some endearing traits such as his love for his father and children. While I believe he loves Maria, I don't care for the way he treats her at times. I think it's fair to say he's a chauvinist with a fairly good sized ego. He also not only has no business acumen whatsoever, he seems fairly devoid of common sense. I and hope he defers to his son in all future business dealings.

I also think Isa is probably a more savvy business person than her husband. She saw and seized on a real opportunity - Santiago should take note.

Francisca? As Carlos would say, "next"! A viper.

Yes, most of this was filler but hopefully on Monday, we will see more of the animal members of the family and all will be well. We've now been subject to two lousy parties in a row. Basta!

AuntyAnn, glad you are here and hope all is well.

Diana

Thank you, Diana. And you too Jarifa!

Diana your comment has me thinking that we might be in for a lot of character growth and development. I always like that.

I read again today that this is slated to end in August. We are only 19ish episodes behind. I hope it's true that it's short because I am so eager to see where this goes that I don't want things stretched out!

August Sara? I don't know whether to be relieved or disappointed.

I was a huge fan of Pasion and I believe that was about 70 episodes. It never got boring and was the perfect length. I think adding episodes simply to extend does not usually work well.

I think it is harder for comedies to be fresh and exciting as things are so fast paced and often frantic. It's best to go out leaving viewers to want more (La Malquerida and La Tempestad which was sliced to the bare bones come to mind).

Diana

I've never made it through one comedy, but from what I've seen they get stretched to really ridiculous lengths.

I am a fan of short and sweet. I'll tolerate 140-150 if it's decent but 80-120 is my preferred length.

That being said, I loathe when they start editing to speed things along.

I prefer short, but I don't want editing.

great job Sara! I loved Beto riding almost right inside the VElasco office building to save the day!
Good thing Rocio was not bragging that she was the one that found Porfirio! even if Santiago tried to do it for her.
and yes, i too think IC is the weak link here. Even Ernesto is making his presence known...

Hey Diana,

Good to see you here too. I hope that I can catch up this weekend and looking forward to some great comments too.

Looks like I have a lot to look forward to with all these interesting characters, including all the animals. I saw the baby goats from the first epi, and they were absolutely adorable!

EY still looks pretty darn good. I think he's around 52. I think he can pass for being Africa's husband. I can't judge the characters yet because I have yet to see past the 2nd episode, but I look forward to their characters developing.

I have read a few comments about IC being the weak link. I'll have to see some more before I can judge. She was pretty good in HQEDNS. I think the first role I ever saw her in was as a villain, and she played that part very well. Sorry I can't recall the name of it right now.

Gotta go. I am going to watch what I can right now to try and catch up.

Have a great weekend everyone and Happy Easter!

Hasta pronto!

The peoblem with Itati is that she can't move her face anymore, before her surgeries she was very good as an actress and now she has to over do it to be able to show emotion.

Seems like anything I watch here on Uni is ending up being around 180+. Anyway, I do agree that shorter would be better to keep the integrity of the plot for good storytelling. Sort of annoying when the potential for a good story is ruined by blatant advertising needs.

I also read August for the end of this one and that they are already casting its replacement.

Jarifa

Thank you so much to Sara and Marta, and am I leaving out someone else. If so, sorry. So much of the jokes and slang is going over my head so I truly need the recaps. I'm enjoying this comedy (and the comedy of the recappers). So far, nobody has been tied up, kidnapped, or bloodied as in the previous comedy (?). I like all the characters including Itati. I think her character is supposed to be crazy, hyper, nutty, and slapstick. She's doing that well. This show seems to have a following as shown by the amount of comments each day. Thanks again recappers.

I like Itati, but I'm liking other performances more. I like her more when she's not making faces or being over the top. She's best when she's confused by her own attraction to Facundo.

Wow, Jarifa! They're already casting the replacement? That's a very good sign this will be short. Lol.

Marta- Beta riding the streets of the DF is so ridiculous and I love it. I laughed when he handed the reins over to the guard.

Rocío is really a nice girl who seems to have a heart. Why is Maria so against her?

AuntyAnn- I kind of buy Africa as the wife too. TN watching must be messing with my age perception.

Anon1:56- I will have to find some videos on YouTube to compare.

Anon7:55- NovelaMaven gave us our first splendid recap. Marta really went above and beyond this week. I appreciate what everyone did this week to get us started. Commenters, too! I hope you comment more!

For those of you who regularly watch comedies, how does this one compare?

Sara, from what I have read the next show for the slot will be a Rosy Ocampo production "Antes muerta que Lichita". They have cast Ingrid Martz. Loved her in CI and especially QPTR.

Jarifa

Will it also be a comedy? The bigger question is will Univision air it?

Good stuff. I had to catch up this morning because my internet connexion was slow last night.

As soon as our resident Mean Girl said "disfraces" I knew Carmen was in trouble.

I don't see how Maria can make five shawls by herself in one week and if she needs to get other women from their home "town" to make them she will spot Isabel's attempt at cheating her. Well... I may be a bit premature at that assumption but I'll bet she will call that before Facundo does.

Is Abuelo an Alzheimer's case? I can see that being a possibility.

UA- thank you. I had the same thought about Abuelo and Alzheimer's. They've said he tended to wander even in San Bartolo. But he hasn't been forgetful or anything.

And I'm going to hold out hope that Isa doesn't cheat Maria.

Sara, it is supposed to be a comedy. I would expect it to follow this one in the comedy slot since they always seem to air one comedy but who knows . . .

Jarifa

I think I read that it was completely original, too. Not a remake. That would be refreshing.

I am hoping this novela truly stays in the comedy genre without anything too serious happening. All of the other "comedies" are really "dramedies" with deaths, abuse, sexual abuse, serious illnesses, murders (attempted and completed), torture (MCET), etc. I have high hopes for this one because I like most of the villains except for the teenage ones and the liberal use of animation. I am really sick of PSA's in these productions so I am hoping for abuse free, healthy eating, healthy living, contraceptive using characters. We don't need a surprise pregnancy. Give me a break from that tired plot device, please! If Grandpappy has dementia I hope it is kept light and in the realm of funny as it has until now. These are my wishes but probably not part of the formulaic genre. But I can hope, right? Loving this one so far.

Jarifa

Also I really love the use of authentic language with reference to regional, class, age groups that is so oresent here as it was in MCET and QPTR.

Jarifa

"... liberal use of animation..."

So I kind of love you right now Jarifa because that is one of my favorite things about this show.

Could you give me some examples of authentic language?

Right now the only negative is all the bleeping. I swear the censored "estúpida" yesterday.

Authentic language: the dialect the Carmona's use as compared to the educated middle class Spanish used by the Velasco's as compared to the teenagers and their slang.

I need to see a couple of episodes maybe online to see what they are bleeping. I don't want to get started on censorship . . . Lol

Jarifa

Thanks Jarifa. I haven't felt like the slang has been too big of an issue here. I had a lot of trouble with QPob.

I peeked at the first 30 seconds of Somos los carmona last night and I know the Carmonas were using the Chilean country accent.... which means I didn't understand a word. Lol.

Who was it that mentioned that they were impressed with Africa's accent? Was it you Jarifa?

This is a remake of a Chilean novela called Somos los Carmona, which was made two years ago. It ran 151 episodes.

Character names are mostly the same. It's getting me that remakes of other countries' stuff keep most of the names and the original title while Televisa usually changes both when they remake their own.

Jarifa, I wholeheartedly echo your "I am hoping this novela truly stays in the comedy genre without anything too serious happening".

We know there will be mayhem but I am hoping it's confined to swindling without the dark overtones.

Am I correct in that gancho al corazon was supposed to be a comedy? That had some of the most nefarious undertones I've ever seen. Remember Valentina's mother? Ack.

I'm counting on this for lightness and levity. And many more scenes of Eduardo swimming and bathing. ;)

Diana

Chilean novelas are quite good. I loved their version of Dulce amor (HEFDM in Mexico.)

I'm watching La chúcara right now and I like it.

TVN also has a novela de epoca coming soon which I am excited about.

This is my first comedy, but I've always lurked on the comedy threads and I've always noticed the propensity for the comedies to get dark.

Or is that just an Osorio thing?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed too.

Did Hasta que el dinero get dark?

Diana- I am looking forward to seeing Lalo shirtless and enjoying a dip in the cement pond. And I'm recapping it so I will *have* to watch it multiple times to get it right. ;)

Sara, I so appreciate the "sacrifices" you are willing to make (e.g. watching Eduardo over. And over.)

Sigh. :)

Diana

Yes. Taking one for the team. It's the least I can do for Caray. I like to give back to the community. :-P

FYI: just saw a part of a previous episodeTelevisa version, and the "jumirichi" according to Facundo was the blood of the little goat they had just cooked. In the Univision version, Facundo's explanation to Isabel was cut out so that was why we were all wondering what it was. Now who would be offended by that? Silly censorship.

Jarifa

Aw :(

Is that what happened to the little goats?

I will never understand Univision.

Of course Santiago wants to take their $$$$!

Good villain!

At least he's not blood thirsty, Steve.

I never thought I would like comedies, but "Por ella, soy Eva" was excellent & "La familia con suerte" was also good.

This is a welcome relief from all the violence in Dueños del paraiso.

I finally had to give up on Dueños, Vario. Has it gotten less boring?

I think my tastes are changing. I'm finding myself drawn to more of the lighter ones than I used to be.

Back on the censorship topic, as Vivi noticed way back in Capítulo 1, they are blocking out anytime Facundo calls María "negra" or "negrita".

Jarifa

Why on earth would the do that?

Ugh that just seems stupid.

Thanks for figuring that out for us, Jarifa!

jumirichi
The dictionary's don't have it

but

That brings me to a childhood memory.
I love goats, mi abuelos raised goats, the big ones, I loved them especially Nelly, she had twins, I milked her. One day, on the dinner table was Nelly. I found out after taking a bite, it stuck in my throat, & abuelo didn't eat much either. She was old didn't give milk anymore. And that is what happens, an event I will never forget.

Sara
I don't find Dueños boring at all, violent disgusting, si, boring no.
But our sweet Oleg from La reina del sur has turned into a monster cop.

Aw, Vario! What a sad story!

(But I confess that a Carol Burnett sketch ran through my head.)

I guess I dumped Dueños before it got... Gross. Lol.

Thanks, Sara. Super recap. I too loved They should have been dressed like lambs. They're headed for slaughter. I’m enjoying all the dialogue you’re breaking down for us.

So Facundo had to pick flowers for Isa on their trek, really? Looking forward to (hopefully) Maria becoming more independent from him so he can see how it feels.

Ay, Beto to the rescue! But did he have to spill the beans on Rocio?

A nice guy like Felipe having a B girlfriend like Francisca makes no sense. I can see her being so embarrassed when he starts delivering pizzas.

I like the whole cast. Sometimes it takes a while for me to warm up to some, but I think everybody’s nailing it.

Facundo and Santiago passing back the ball as they talked biz was too funny. Facundo seemed to do it with ease, while Santiago seemed to struggle a bit, just like with the tequila.

Sara, thanks for that great recap. I think that you are a knitter, so did you notice that Africa isn't ? I always get a giggle out of actresses just clicking the needles together.

I loved the impromptu soccer game. Harry looked like he was trying not to smile. He looks so different with brown hair.

Ernesto is my favorite. He seems to be having such a good time.

Sara, thank you for a very entertaining recap. With my Spanish, I didn't realize Maria had sewn those cow/bull costumes. Did she whip those up all in one day or was the doomed party later, not that night. She'll knit those chals in no time. Speedy.

Anyway, I too am enjoying Ernesto as Santiago even if he is trying to steal the last peso from the Carmonas. Wonder if he'll reform or end up in poverty or jail. I like him so I hope he changes.

GinCA

Niecie-Thank you! I am 100% behind you about Beto ratting out Rocío. I wish he hadn't done that. I liked them working together and now I'm afraid she's going to be mad at him and not help anymore.

This really is an enjoyable cast. I think with Itati I'm just not used to that kind of exaggerated comedy, but I really do like her.

I confess I watched a little more of episode 1 or the Chilean version and I have to say, the Mexican version did a funnier job of Isa's first experience with the cow.

In the Chilean version, Isa pulls up in her driveway, hears the cow and then sees the cow in the neighbor's yard. I prefered watching Itati's reaction to Petunia up in her face.

susanlynn-Believe it or not, I like this show so much I want to actually watch my recording again. Partly because I want to see it again and partly because I swear the cloth AZ had in her hand was actually crocheted and they shoved some needles in it. The captions were kind of covering it though...then I had to force myself to focus on the dialog. LOL.

GinCA-Thank you! Maria is super woman and Facundo better open his eyes! Or the writers better have someone awesome waiting in the wings for Maria.

I'm so glad people are enjoying this show. I was resigned to watching this "alone" so I'm tickled that there are others who want to have a place to discuss. :-)

Sara..I don't have captions , and it looked like the stitches were cast on the needles. Africa was just tapping the tips of the needles together. Our local Waldorf School teaches the kids handwork. They knit with knitting needles or pencils , but they also do this neat finger crochet/knit(?) thing.

Thanks Susanlynn!

I wish all schools would teach handicrafts. Alas it would take away from testing time.

Waldorf schools also teach Spanish starting in second grade and encourage outdoor play. The teacher follows the kids through the grades. Also, no homework and lots of singing.

Sounds perfect.

I watched again and added/fixed some things in the recap. I'll also put them here so you don't have to go back and look for them.

I'm pretty sure Esteban said he hasn't been paid either. He's pretty loyal!

Before Isa and Maria got down to the business of making shawls for the boutique, Isa again swore there was nothing going on with Facundo. Maria tells her Facundo has always been flirty and has women running after him.

During Beto and Roció's conversation, they both reiterate that they CAN'T let Facundo become Santiago's business partner.

Rocío tells Santiago she can handle being the niece or daughter of a bad businessman...but not a swindler.

About the knitting. It's possible it was knitting, but a big chunk of it was already cast of. There weren't a bunch of stitches on the needle.

She'll cheat Maria because Isa is buji!

Variopinta, thank you for sharing your touching story of Nelly with us.

I can only imagine how difficult that was for you. Ties and affections cross human boundaries to be sure.

Sara, thank you--I'm getting to this late but want to thank you for getting a great recap up for us. I am enjoying this show more than I thought, except for the Mean Girls. I like that Rocio has a heart too.

Jarifa ITA that if this is an actual comedy without violence, attempted murders, it will be much more enjoyable than some others recently billed as "comedies". I'm even getting the giggles over the corny animation bits.

Thanks J!

I am really keeping my fingers crossed. It's my first comedy AND my first attempt at recapping comedy. I would hate to have it descend into darkness.

So far this has made me understand why some people prefer comedies.

And since there has to be an antagonist, I'm glad the one we have is funny and that so far he is only stealing money...and pimping out his wife. OK that sounds bad lol.
