Quiero Amarte (Week 29-Apr 6) Highlights & Discussion
Is this the week their downward slide begins as revelations and confrontations begin?
How much longer can the master criminal minds, Lucrecia and her evil spawn, Cesar, prevail against the forces for good?
(But we also beg the telenovela gods to hurry up and have Mauro meet his younger self (as Dr. Guapo) and hope it isn't because of or doesn't cause another heart attack.)

Lila, if no one else steps forward, and you are willing to do double duty this week as well, I can switch to Wednesday and you do Tue & Thu--to give you a day's break in between. Otherwise, we can just fill in what happens on Wednesday without a full recap.
Ok, off I go to find out what went on in Chiapas today. (I think that's where the most exciting action will take place.)
Vivi--Thank you for sharing your trip with us. The Mayan ruins are on my bucket list. My parents got to travel there in the 1930s!!!
Steve, none of us want another heart attack for Mauro! I hope he stays strong. Maybe all the shocks he's gotten this week have fortified him AND he's got some good heart medicine.
Nice and cozy-like!
Recap is ready. IT WAS POWERFUL, NO?
Recap for Mon Apr 6 (Capitulo 138) Pt 1
Montesinos Mansion - Quick refresher of Cesar trying to explain to Amaya that due to the fire at Zona Estrella, that land will have lost much of its value and suggests she sell them to him, so she won’t lose anything economically. He offers to pay her as much as the land was worth before the fire. Fortunately Amaya does not fall for his logic and tells him she’ll never sell that land to him or to anybody. It is Vale’s patrimony and some day it will become productive again.
While Amaya is in the bathroom, Cesar takes the memory card out of his pocket, looks at it and then stomps it into bits.
The next morning at breakfast, Cesar tries again to find out what Amaya was doing yesterday (during the time he “lost contact” with her). She answers with her own question, oh, didn’t she tell him? Before this can continue, Mauro steps in and gives Cesar his marching orders for the day—he has to meet with some important clients today because Mauro has an important meeting to attend and won’t be able to take the meet. Cesar puts up a fuss. He can’t he’s already made plans. Mauro says tough, change the plans. Cesar wants to know why Mauro can’t cancel his meeting. Mauro puts his foot down (he’s the boss, after all). Mauro and Amaya excuse themselves and in an obvious put down, as Amaya gets up from the table she is about even with Cesar’s face and he reaches for what he wants--a good-bye kiss. Amaya merely stands up and pulls away from him (nice going Amaya!). Cesar ignores that she ignored him and moves over to be closer to his mother.
Finca El Paraiso - Breakfast at El P. is much cheerier. Consta feels a twinge and thinks she should have a doctor check her out. Mari already has a nice doctor and offers to take her to see him.
Montesinos Mansion - Cesar takes a call from Whoracio. He wants to know if Cippy was dead. Whor saw him being dragged out of the bar, but didn’t stay around long enough to be sure. With the amount of poison he gave him he ought to be dead very soon. Cesar tells him to make sure, and if he has to, kill him again. (It was kind of cute how Cesar said, if he has to, “lo rematas.” ) Whor has a new assignment. He has to obtain a handgun and hide it in one of the airport lockers. He is to hide the key in a flower pot (“maceta”) or something and send him a photo of where the key is and the number of the locker.
Out in the garden, Amaya and Mauro exchange some last minute words. Amaya wants him to be careful. He will. He’s going to record everything that is said once he meets with Luce. There is an emotional hug between these two as dramatic music swells in the background.
Back inside, Cesar is in Luce’s bedroom updating her on the change in plans, since he can’t be with her. Her eyes get big at the thought of ridding herself of Flo once and for all. This time, she will not fail. She can’t wait to have everything back under their control. (BTW, Luce is wearing the oddest piece of clothing. It looks like a corset worn on the outside of a white blouse. Is this something new in the fashion world? I mean, I get Madonna, but a woman of Luce’s age?) Cesar shares that Amaya has been acting very odd around him. He’s going to have to plan a new strategy to force Amaya to turn over the ZE lands to him. Luce wants in on all the intel. And when she gets back, she’ll use the potassium on Mauro. It will kill him without leaving any traces. And then it will all be over. Luce is absolutely giddy with the idea. Cesar seems to be thinking seriously of any possible slip-ups or ramifications.
Manuel Mansion plus Two and minus The Other One - Geno and Manuel talk about José’s expensive new car. Are they doing the right thing? He’s aware that boys his age measure their status with money and other luxuries. Manuel says he can’t start over with José, so he *is* trying to make up for lost time, but at the same time as come the luxuries, they have to be able to make certain demands on him. They leave for work.
Drat, Not a José-free Episode - We observe the little brat in his father’s home office rifling through the safe he managed to open. He pockets a watch and puts on another one, befitting his new status as rich boy.
Somewhere in the airport - Mauro is reflecting on what he has learned and promises justice for Florencia.
No, Not Certifiably Crazy, Please No - Luce is still in her room. She’s hearing voices, holding her head, checking the mirror, screeching. Where is the cool, no, cold-blooded schemer and killer we have all come to accept. Please don’t let her go crazy. She needs to be in full mental rationality to earn her punishment. No manicomio, no padded room, no psychiatric treatment as an outpatient; she needs an orange jump suit, shackles, no martinis and no designer purses.
Comitán Clinic - Dr. Guapo Linares is greeting Mariana, who has come to introduce Consta to him. He explains he’s not a gynecologist, but will make sure Consta has a good doctor assigned to her and promises to personally oversee her pregnancy. Max joins them and he’s startled by Dr. Guapo’s resemblance to someone, but can’t quite put his finger on it. Mari says the exact same thing happened to Amaya. While they are there, Max and Consta want to find out the sex of their baby. It’s a BOY!
During the exam they are joshing around at who this tiny fetus looks like. When Consta mentions Mauro, Max immediately remembers why Dr. Guapo looks familiar. He looks like his dad when he was young. (Ta Da! Bingo! Now run with it, Max.) Dr. G says he’s looking forward to meeting him.
Out in the waiting room, Mariana sees Bar Owner Guy, whose name, I think is Domingo. He tells her about Cippy fainting in the bar the night before and is now in serious condition. He seems to have lost his vision.
The doc in with Cippy gives him the bad news. His blindness is irreversible. It stemmed from drinking adulterated alcohol which provoked the crisis. Not only will he not recover his vision, but he has an advanced case of cirrhosis of the liver. He tries to deny that he’s addicted to alcohol. Yes he drinks, but very little. There is no cure.
Did I miss any one?
Leila
Nescafé Office - Amaya has a brief conversation with Vale in the hallway. Everything is ok at the student exchange. She discusses with Caro 2.0 her concerns about Mauro’s meeting with Luce. She also shares that Mauro is sure Max still loves her. Caro 2.0 assures her that once this is all over, she and Max will be together and Consta will just be the mother of his child.
Since they happen to be right outside of Cesar’s office, they are witness to a little exchange between Cesar and Mauro’s secretary. He wants to know the names of the people his father was supposed to meet with. She has nothing on his agenda. He doesn’t believe her and tells her she’d better find them. She’ll try to reach Mauro and get the information. Cesar calls her inútil, inepta. He tells her to hurry.
The Wait by the River - Lucrecia is dressed for a funeral she hopes to incite. Flo is late. She wonders why. She turns and sees Mauro standing in front of her. What is he doing there, she asks. Mauro answers with a question, who is she expecting, Florencia? He tells her he’s there in her place. He knows she’s a murderer. But today she is going to start paying for *all* of her crimes. The look on her face indicates she is trapped, but never underestimate a formidable enemy, Mauro.
Luce: I don’t know what you are talking about.
Mau: Then what are you doing here? Florencia asked you to be here and you are here to determine is she were indeed alive and to kill her. (Oh, Mauro, you jumped the gun—you put words in her mouth. Watch---)
Luce: I did get a message from Florencia and am only here to find out what she wanted. After all, you yourself told me she’s been missing for over 30 years.
Mau: You tried to kill her in this spot. Stop pretending. I know the whole truth. You are a murderer. You are going to pay for each and every one of the atrocities you committed.
Luce: I don’t know what lies that woman has told you, but if she’s alive, how can you accuse me of having killed her.
Mau: You killed David by setting fire to the plane where Florencia and Amaya were also supposed to travel. You were going to kill the whole family, but you couldn’t.
Luce: So, where is Florencia?
Mau: In a safe place, where you can’t get at her. So who is in front of you now is ME. Now explain why you did it.
Luce: (She’s thinking.) Because, because Flo was always the owner of your love (La Dueña de tu Amor—I think there’s a song in there somewhere.) Her presence was always a risk that I would be set aside in your world.
Mau: (Covers his face.) I can’t believe your ego was so big, so monstrous.
Luce: It wasn’t ego. It was your actions, the lack of attention from you, the lack of love, that pushed me to get that woman out of my way.
Mauro is beginning to show signs of physical distress.
Mau: Why is it you are always finding the fault in others? Take responsibility for your own actions. It’s over. Everything you did was in vain.
Lucrecia is showing signs of mental stress.
Mau continues: In Vain! Florencia would never have asked me to leave you, never would have placed herself between us in our marriage.
Luce: Sure, Florencia, the perfect woman.
Mau: That’s enough! We’re going to the police, right now. You are going to spend the rest of your days in jail.
Luce: (She’s had enough and pulls out the handgun Cesar & Whoracio provided. She points it at Mauro.) You are mistaken. I will never set foot in a cell. I came prepared to finish what I started over 30 years ago. I was going to kill Florencia, but now I have to kill you.
Mau: Give me the gun.
Luce: Never. (She pulls the trigger and Mauro is hit in the upper chest. Mauro goes down. Lucrecia actually looks horrified at what she has just done.)
Nescafé Offices - Amaya and Caro 2.0 are still outside in the hallway (almost waiting to see what was to happen next). Cesar comes back to Mauro’s secretary’s desk (I think I heard him call her Lydia or Livia, Libia or Lilia) to ascertain whether she has the information from Mauro on the meeting. She tells him Mauro hasn’t called her back. Cesar calls her inefficient and inept and sneers at her. He says something incredibly offensive and sexist about whether she is married or not—probably not and he sneers again. At this point Amaya steps in. Maybe he has his phone turned off if he’s in a meeting. She tells him he seems very agitated. He just hates to have his time wasted. He storms off. Amaya calms Lydia down and tells her to ignore him and continue her work.
Amaya and Caro 2.0 also discuss Negro’s absence. He seems to have evaporated. He’s probably well hidden. At least they know he was in Chiapas on the days Gustavo was there. With the way the memory card changed hands, it is certain Cesar sent him to Chiapas. She surmises Cesar has destroyed the memory card by now. At least they have the evidence. Amaya is worried she hasn’t heard from Mauro. Caro 2.0 thinks it’ll be ok, even if Cesar wanted to hightail it to Chiapas, by now everything would have been finished. She tells Amaya not to worry, Mauro had on a bullet-proof vest and had the recorder.
Down by the River - Lucrecia tentatively approaches the dead Mauro, who is on the ground, lying sprawled, face up. We can see a black smudge on his shirt—but no blood. She gets ready to put another bullet in him, aiming for his head, when suddenly Mauro comes to life and grabs the gun and flings it away. Lucrecia gets out of his reach and turns to watch him, transfixed. He’s still physically stressed, but gets up and grabs her. This time she is not going to escape. He’s got her, for now. He wants her to confess to him everything she’s done before taking her to the authorities. Luce is beginning to panic. She tries the mama card—how it would affect their children to find their father accusing their mother of murder. They are the ones who have been her only victims. What about Lucio? Mauro replies that he’ll tell Lucio she’s gone away or dead. She begs him to let her flee. She’ll leave the country, never bother them again. He recoils from her touch. He doesn’t trust her.
He says he only worries about Cesar, who seems to have inherited her bad seed. Luce comes right back at him, telling him, no, throwing it in his face that Cesar was her best “work” and is not even his biological child. He gave up the love of his life for a child who isn’t his. Mauro’s distress continues to worsen. He doesn’t believe her. She’s just trying to hurt him. Yes, Luce says, recomposing herself, it hurts, doesn’t it? The most able, the most intelligent of all the children doesn’t have a drop of Mauro’s blood. He is the child of the only man she ever loved. Mauro guesses—Omar. Then incredulous, because she killed him. Yes, because he became a bother to her, right when Cesar found out Omar was his father. Mauro can’t believe Cesar knows he’s not his bio-dad. She’s so sorry she had to carry out that deception since Cesar was always so proud of being a Montesinos. She begins to tell him the story we’ve heard already of how she duped Mauro into marrying her and why.
Mauro is distressed to the point where he needs to get out his medication. As he opens the bottle of pills, his billfold falls out and Luce knocks the pills out of his hands. He glares at her. She glares back—and says, she’s a woman who doesn’t like to lose. As he is bent over looking for his pills, Luce picks up a rock and hits Mauro on the side of the forehead. He falters and falls—into the water. He goes under and then resurfaces, inert and begins to float away, face down. All Luce can do is stand there and stare at him. Then she shows us an anguished smile and a big sigh of relief. Luce picks up her designer purse, kicks the shoe Mauro lost on the bank and leaves.
Comitán Clinic - Dr. Guapo Linares is back talking to Mariana. Apparently they’ve made the connection that Mariana is Cip’s daughter. He tells her Cip’s status for having consumed adulterated alcohol. Domingo, the BarOwnerGuy says they don’t sell adulterated alcohol. But he got ahold of a bottle somehow, because the analysis showed he had it in his bloodstream. He won’t recover his eyesight, and due to the cirrhosis, he’s terminal. Cip doesn’t have much time left. Mariana decides to go see him. Cip acknowledges her presence. They kind of come to an accommodation. He knows Dolores was a good person. Then why did he accuse her of infidelity. Because after all those years of not conceiving a child, she did. Now Mariana is all he has left. He wants her as a daughter. He keeps repeating he doesn’t want to die—as the monitor beeps and traces the end of his days.
Max is still at the hospital with Consta, standing by for Mariana. He gets a call from Hector. Max is glad he called. He needs to talk to Iván right away. Hector says he called to tell him Cip got out of jail because someone paid his bail. It had to be Whoracio, who else would have paid his bail? What he can’t figure out is why would Whoracio be so interested in Cip’s well being. As he says this, Whoracio shows up at the hospital and passes himself off as Cip’s son-in-law (leaving out the EX part) inquiring after Cip’s status. The nurse tells him Cip is in critical condition. As he turns away, he turns right into Max (who towers over him) wondering why he is there asking about Cip.
Juli and Jorge - Relief from all the drama comes while Jorge is in Juli’s office. He can tell she’s stressed out. He starts to give her a neck massage. They look so good together. They are trying to find the solution to their Non-Mexican 3-en-1 product problem. Jorge is going to call Uruguay (YAY!!) and Juli will call the contacts in Spain. Juli wants everything to be perfect. Maybe it can’t be that way, but he knows they’ll work it out and the best stress-reducer is some serious kissing. Amaya interrupts. Apparently the folks in Uruguay understand their dilemma and have no problem with the alteration in the source of their coffee. Spain says they want a guarantee that their shipment is 100% Mexican. More business talk about penalties and stuff. Amaya is worried to herself about not hearing from Mauro.
A Random Dress Shop, Somewhere Nearby - Luce is seen shopping for a change of wardrobe. It seems she had traded her black outfit for another black outfit, the less to be identified (?). Well, color me not. She takes off her dirty shoes. Luce is stressed, but she has remediation at hand. She calls Cesar. He wants to know what happened and why does she say everything turned out fine—after Mauro showed up instead of Florencia. Mauro is dead—he ceases to be a problem for them. Cesar can only stare straight out with his cold, dead eyes. Freeze frame on Cesar’s face
I am still speechless.
It is very difficult not to find these online and watch ahead. But I will be strong.
I think we agreed long ago that the producer, Carlos Moreno Laguillo likes to keep his best or at least favorite actors together, sort of like an in-house troupe.
More later on.
Sorry you got a Jose episode.
I thought Diana Bracho looked lovely with her hair up. Too bad she was playing the part of Lu.
Leila
I hope you are right about Mauro. I don't want to lose him just like that.
Leila--Thank you for mentioning CdlF's gum commercial (in short hair--maybe that's why he cut it???). I was going to put it in the middle of the recap, but I was on a roll with the Mauro-Luce confrontation and forgot.
Sara--Diana B. can wear her hair any which way and look dramatic. Pulled back so tight she looked like a woman on a mission. Most of the time on QA it's done to reflect her position as a high society matron. I'm glad they don't have her in long hair. I guess that is de rigeur for young leads and 'hos in their tn world.
Sara--No, I didn't cringe when they hugged. I thought it was an act of love that pulled these two together. I was lulled into a good feeling because I wasn't expecting what actually happened. I thought Luce would get away without harming Mauro. I assumed he would be with us until Cap. 161!
Steve--Yes. It happened. We shall see what develops next.
Lila
That hug between Mauro and Amaya was special because they *had* started treating each other as a real father and daughter, at Mauro's urging. The break came when she showed up as Cesar's wife, breaking Max's heart and throwing everyone else into confusion (except Luce, of course). Mauro took her aside and told her what they had was lost, gone. That probably hurt Amaya almost as much as it hurt her to lose Max.
Lila--Thanks for stopping by. I have no intention of breaking your thought process working on the recap. Can't wait to find out what happens today and read your recap. Hasta luego, amiga.
I think Caro 1.0 had issues with the producer, and something about them wanting her to cut her hair maybe? Given that she looked a good 6" taller than Amaya, I don't think there'd be a problem telling the two apart, but there was some staff conflict. I liked her, but will give Caro 2.0 a chance. But does this mean they'll stop caring if she ever finds a nice boyfriend?

We get some overlap (see Anita’s wonderful recap, part 5, second paragraph) in the conversation of Max with Hector; Max confronting Whor at the Comitan clinic; the dress shop scene and Lu calling Cesar to tell him “The King is Dead, Long Live the King.” Mauro will no longer be a problem for him or for her; he is dead, Cesar is the successor. Cesar says, “You killed my Papa. Mauro Montesinos?” Lu says Mauro had a heart attack when he found out Cesar was not his son. Cesar gets up and walks to his mirror pronouncing his legacy in the Montesinos Dynasty: “I know I was the cause of your marrying him and today the cause you used to eliminate him.” He looks in the mirror, his red rimmed eyes filled with tears. Is it for the death of the man he has known as his Papa? No, it’s the weight of his dream finally being realized: “I will be eternally grateful to you, Mama. Cesar asks where Mauro is and is she sure he’s dead. She is certain: She shot him first but he was wearing a bullet proof vest; then he had a heart attack. She said she saw him floating in the river. She’s sure he was dead.
Back at the Comitan clinic, Max grills Whor about who sent him to Chiapas. Cesar sent him to look into café GourmeT. Max challenges this: café GourmeT (CG) is HIS project, not Cesar’s. Max accuses him of having paid Cipriano’s bail. Whor claims ignorance about Cip’s illness and if Max wants to know why Cesar sent him to look into CG, he needs to ask Cesar himself.
Back to Luciferia and her spawn on the phone. Cesar concludes that everything went perfectly. They further decide that when the police discover Mauro’s abandoned car and his body, they have to act like their shocked and grieved. Finding Florencia is priority. Cesar says that if Mauro told that woman everything, she remains a danger for them. He asks Lu if she’s sure no one heard the argument between her and “mi Papa” at the riverbank. He worries that she could have spied on them and taken photos or recorded things. She is sure because if anyone had been there, they would have come to help Mauro. Cesar repeats that they must be alert: Florencia could’ve alerted the police.
Let’s see how the showdown is going on between Max and Whor. Whor continues to hem and haw and shuffle and finally leaves. Max tells Connie Whor is lying. Something else is going on. Max’s phone rings.
Lu wonders where Amaya is and asks if he knows what Amaya and Mauro talked about in the restaurant yesterday. Cesar tells her not to worry; Amaya is under surveillance and right now she’s in the office very happy, she doesn’t know anything: If she did, she would have gone with Mauro. Lu says it’s important to follow every move she makes. Cesar agrees. He asks for her flight number. He will pick her up at the airport so he can get all the details. Lu is looking as haggard as Cesar thinks he looks cool and Kingly. They end the call.
Cesar faces himself in the mirror and relishes this turning point in his life: “The bottom line is Mauro Montesinos is dead and I am going to be the owner of this Empire. I’ll remember this day for the rest of my life.” He raises his head as if he needs to show respect to his own image and strokes his moustache.
Over at El P there has been an interesting turning of the tables: Ivan and Flavia walk and talk about how insufferable she used to be to him and that it’s good he can’t remember. Ivan says to have part of your past erased is horrible. He respects her knowledge of coffee cultivation and finca management and he hopes to learn a lot from her. [He only lost a year of memory; he should retain his management skills, shouldn’t he? Okay. Where’s my beanie?] Hector walks up. Ivan asks if there’s any news from the courthouse.
At La Tormenta Ceci and Becca arrive home and enter Ceci’s bedroom. Ceci wants Becca to look for Ivan and tell him she’s sorry and Ivan should come back to them. Becca says Ivan will never come back or forgive them; he doesn’t want anything to do with them and she should accept it. Becca leaves. Ceci sends for Tadeo to tell him he’s fired. He thought she was a woman who was worth something but he was wrong. His response is she can’t fire him, he quits! Ceci throws Uli calls her and tells her they have mutual interests and they need to meet.
Hector informs them Ceci and Becca are free. Ceci’s sentence was reduced due to her mental illness and her agreement to remain under psychiatric care. Ivan and Flavia frustrated but Ivan doesn’t know what he could do. As far as Becca, despite what she did, she is his mother and he has nothing to gain from her being locked up. He doesn’t want to “pay her back in the same coin.” Hector tells Flavia and Ivan that Cip is also free because someone paid his bail, perhaps Whor. Ivan thinks they should verify this information and inform Max.
Snot nose Jose (SNJ) and Manuel square off over him taking Manuel’s watch without permission. SNJ thinks because Daddy’s rich, eeeeeverything Dady has is his, too. Manuel straightens him out: Whatever he has he worked hard for many years to get them and they are not SNJ’s just because he takes a fancy to them. SNJ is NOT to take or use Manuel’s private property without asking. [Uuuuf! I can’t stand this blanket blank!] After Manuel walks away SNJ thinks to himself that Manuel is an envious old so-and-so. If he sees something he like, he’s going to take it whether Manuel likes it or not! [I’m rethinking what I said about not wanting SNJ maimed or killed.]
Geno hands out invitations and a couple of the secretaries insult her to her face and give the invites back! In what smells more like envy than holier-than-thou they mock her as “just a secretary” now pretending to be respectable when everyone knows she was Don Manuel’s mistress while he was still married. They sniff that she’ll never be accepted by high society! What nerve! One of Geno’s friends thinks it’s absolutely marvelous that she’s going to man she has loved all her life and who is the father of her child and that finally she will be given the place in life she deserves. Her friend says she will gladly be there and don’t mind those other two jealous harpies.
Max wants to call Amaya to tell her that her sister, Mariana is alone at the hospital with Cipriano who is deathly ill. First he has quiet Connie from grilling him, growling and gnawing at his leg not to call Amaya. The first thing Max wants to do when there’s a problem is call Amaya! He tries to explain to her that Mariana does not have a cell and like it or not, Amaya spent her child hood living with Cip and she has a right to know he is ill. Max finally is like, tough, I’m calling her and he does. Connie hangs right under him, rolling her eyes and making faces. Amaya is grateful and right away gets in touch with Mariana via the nursing station.
Let’s check in with Amaya and Caro over at Nescafe. Before Amaya gets the call she paces nervously at in the break room wondering why Mauro hasn’t called yet. They’re hanging out there because they know Amaya’s office is bugged. Amaya answers the call from Max and hears what’s wrong with Cip, the hospital he is in and that Mariana is with him. Knowing that Max has a pregnant growth on his arm she declines his offer of the use of his cell phone. Amaya verifies that it is the hospital where Dr. Marco Antonio Linares works (Dr. Guapo, Mauro’s long lost, thought-dead son). She will get in contact with Mari via the nurse’s station. Max holds up the phone and says, “See, you see nothing happened.”
Speaking of Dr. Guapo, he talks to Mariana about Cip. The adulterated alcohol Cip drank only speeded up a process that had already begun: Cip’s liver was already damaged and now he is beyond repair or recovery. Mari wants to know if nothing can be done, he might as well leave the clinic. Dr. Linares doesn’t advise it. They will give Cip palliative care and support her in her grief. She can stay with him until his time comes. Mariana cries and looks at Cip lying in bed. His eyes are closed but he seems silently agitated.
Still at Nescafe, Cesar orders that Amaya be followed and not lost like she was the other day. Of course he has to punctuate that instruction with an “imbecile!” Cesar scowls and thinks to himself that Amaya should not know anything of the plans of her mother and his father. He imagines how surprised everyone will be when they hear about Mauro’s death then he thinks he’s going to enjoy his Papa’s funeral. He gives us his best evil, psychotic glare.
Oh! What’s this! The Police discover Mauro’s locked rental car on the river bank! They go to investigate!
Whor calls Cesar who wants to know immediately if Cip is dead. Whor tells him no and that Max was at the clinic grilling him about why he, Whor, was at the clinic. Cesar is pissed and Whor is getting tired of being called an imbecile. It’s funny how he holds the phone down and growls rapid fire “YOU are the imbecile!” Whor tells Cesar the line he fed Max about being sent to look for CG. He also tells Cesar that Max suspected that he, Whor, paid Cip’s bail. Cesar is eventually pleased with his story and wishes that Cip die soon: he doesn’t want anything disturbing the course of events!
Police discover Mauro’s shoe and wallet at the river bank! They identify him from his wallet. From all appearances it looks like this Mauro fell in the river. One of the policeman takes out his radio.
Amaya reaches Mariana at the clinic. Mariana cries that Cip’s days are numbered. Even though he brought it on himself she feels horrible that he’s going to die and there’s nothing that can be done. She tells Amaya he can’t be moved but they will do all they can to keep him comfortable. They both wish she could be there. Once she arrives they’ll take it from there. They end the call. Ivan arrives and embraces Mariana.
There’s a beautiful Televisa full moon.
Becca finds Ceci gone. Ceci has gone to Uli’s. They agree to work together to separate Ivan and Mariana but he thinks they need a little R & R first. He proposes and she accepts that they screw. Yuck.
Amaya is back at MM now on the phone with Caro. She is still worried about Mauro and thinking Lu must be in jail by now. Caro advises her to remain. Amaya is feeling desperate. Uh oh! Somebody’s coming in and she has to get off the phone!
Ivan and Mari are back at El P. talking to Flavia, Connie and Max. Hector bursts in accompanied by the plain clothed Police Commander and uniformed police officer. They are carrying Mauro’s shoe and wallet in plastic bags. They tell Max and Flavia they have bad news. Max says Mauro is in the DF, he wonders what they’re talking about.
Amaya looks like she could sh*t a brick when she sees Lu and Cesar enter the living room of the MM. She plays it cool, says she was waiting for Cesar to tell him she has to go to Chiapas to be with Mariana because her Papa is dying. Lu fakes sympathy. Amaya wants to know since there are no flights to Chiapas now she wanted to ask Cesar if she could borrow the corporate plane. Cesar is all syrupy sweet: of course she can! Amaya glares at Lu as if by so doing she could pull the truth through her very pores.
The Police say Mauro was NOT in DF, he flew to Tuxla in a private plane and rented a car. Flavia smiles that no, her Papa would not have done that without letting them know. The Police show Max the wallet and shoe. Max and Flavia verify they are his. From all indications it looks as if he fell in the river and drowned. Shock and disbelief reverberate through the room! Flavia doesn’t want to believe it. Max calls Mauro’s cell. No answer. Connie asks if there is someone else who might know where Mauro is. Connie is obviously talking about Amaya but after her hissy fit an hour ago, she doesn’t even want to say her name!
Amaya doesn’t want anything to drink which is suspicious enough for Cesar but he also thinks she’s looking at him funny. She denies it. Max calls Amaya asking to speak to Mauro. She tells him he left this morning, what’s up. The police are here, they believe he has fallen in the river and drowned. Amaya must feel as if she has been hit by a ton of bricks but she has to play it cool. Cesar is in the room with her. Good thing her back is turned. Max says please tell me you saw him in his office; tell me he is in Mexico. Amaya is shocked and slowly her hand with the phone falls from her face. Cesar comes and takes the phone, hears what Max told Amaya and plays shocked very convincingly. What do you mean he drowned, he’s not in Chiapas! Max tells him Mauro flew down, rented a car and tells him about the shoe and the wallet. Flavia cries in the background. Cesar says it’s a lie. Cesar asks why did he fly down, Max yells how should he know! Cesar says he’s got to go tell his Mama, throws down the phone and takes off up the stairs yelling Mama!
To say Amaya is shocked is an understatement. Amaya thinks to herself, “She killed him. Lucrecia killed Don Mauro!” She sinks to the sofa.
Police say the search has been called off due to darkness. Max orders Hector and Ivan to organize a search party, being sure to leave a couple of men at the finca in case Uli appears. They take off. Max requests and police give him a map with the exact location of where Mauro’s car and recovered belongings were. Mariana looks at the map and says it looks like the exact place where Amaya’s mother had her accident. Max takes off and urges Flavia to stay behind with Connie and Mariana. The anguish of all three is palpable.
Amaya calls Caro to tell her Mauro is dead and she’s sure Lu did it. Caro wants her to leave the house immediately. Amaya says that’s a bad idea: they will suspect her if she does and then her life will really be in danger. Ok, Caro is going to come over and recommends to Amaya that she go Juli’s where Jorge is, he can project her. Amaya agrees. Before running off, she looks at the MM like it is a house of horrors!
Cesar and Lu walk hand in hand talking about Mauro’s death and whether anyone will suspect them. Cesar thinks once she hears Mauro is dead, she might appear. Lu thinks not: she will probably be afraid that she’s next. At any rate, Lu thinks he should talk to the Investigator so as to be alert. They have to be careful that Florencia not approach Amaya or anyone in the family. Cesar will pump Amaya for information so they can be sure she has not talked to her mother. Lu says they have to keep up the theatrics. Cesar agrees that she will have to cry lots for Mauro. She does a phony break down in grief which looks more like mirth. Cesar does his best grim, evil look.
Over at Juli’s Jorge and Juli are together. Elo comes in saying it’s strange that Mauro is not back. Jorge offers to go over to the house, Julie says no. There’s a knock on the door, Elo jumps up but Jorge says he will answer. It is Amaya who tells Juli, Jorge and Elo a tragedy has just occurred. Don Mauro is missing in Chiapas and the police think he has drowned!
We’re with Geno and Manuel now. Geno laments that out of her work “friends” only Nuria is coming to the wedding. It seems no one wants to respect her because she was once his lover. Manuel tells her not to worry: she will make a whole new set of friends and they will respect her as HIS wife. He’s going to make it up to her and the SNJ. He is very, very worried about Jose. Manuel tells her about the ripping off of the watch incident. Manuel says something that viewerville likes: maybe he made a mistake getting him out of prison. Maybe he should have stayed in the joint and learned to take responsibility for his actions. Of course Geno disagrees. Manuel feels so impotent because the little bastard’s attitude hasn’t changed one bit! Manuel ‘s cell rings, it is Connie saying she has bad news about Mauro. He slumps.
Next we suffer seeing Ceci and Uli in bed, having finished “bonding”, they talk about their pact to not betray each other but work together to separate Ivan and Mariana. Uli already has a plan which Ceci approves. They shake on it and then do something else on it.
Back at El P Connie hangs up from talking to Manuel and tells Flavia and Mariana that Manuel is coming to see if there is anything he can do to help.
It is fully dark now. Max and the men are at the riverbank with lanterns, they split up, all calling Mauro’s name. Max yells Papa and the camera pans out wide as his anguished cry echoes with tremendous volume.
Jorge and Juli will go to Chiapas and Elo wants to go but they convince her to stay. Lucio can’t know yet that Mauro is missing. She has to stay for him and for Alan. Juli promises to keep her apprised. Juli, Jorge and Amaya leave. Elo sits at the table and prays that Mauro appears.
Over at the MM Cesar is barking for Amaya. He sees her and she tells him she was telling Juli what happens. He tries to dig her out about it but she is unbowed: Juli has a right to know what is happening with her father! She tells him Juli and Jorge are going with them and Caro too. He doesn’t like that either. Tough titty: Caro is her friend and is coming along too! Cesar tries to find out what she and Mauro met about. About CG. He asks why they didn’t meet in the office. Amaya answers it was a business lunch. He asks if she is sure they didn’t talk about anything else. She snaps at him that she is sure and goes to get her purse.
Upstairs Amaya sees Lu in the hallway. Amaya tells Lu she is going. Lu sighs, oh how life can change: in the morning everything was fine and now, this. She doesn’t want anything bad to happen to Mauro. Even though they were going to divorce and had grown apart, she would never wish anything bad to happen to him. Amaya stiffens as she thinks to herself what a liar Lu is. “You never wanted him to be happy and once he found you out, you killed him!” Freeze frame on Amaya regarding Lucrecia with well-deserved contempt.
Thank you, Amiga!!!
YUCK!
Wondering if they're going to get the casket for Mauro's "funeral" ?
I'm sorry for how rough the recap was, guys. I normally read over them with more care. No reflection on how I feel about the show or all my QA peeps! Gonna turn in now. See y'all in the morning!
QA started out on wobbly ground. It should have been a prime time show. We don't know why it was relegated to daytime. CarayCaray usually does not recap daytime shows. It's hard enough to get recappers for 4 daily shows on Uni plus three on TeleM x 5 days a week.
BlogMom provided us with a sidebar link and we limped along. We weren't able to recap every night, but we kept the story connected over the days and weeks. Thanks to Lila and Kelly, and occasionally Sara and Vivi, we are now able to cover almost the whole week.
If you link from the sidebar, every week has a headliner, so you can go back to Week 1 for the background as it started out.
1.) Florencia
2.) Dolores
3.) Omar
4.) Emma
5.) David
6.) Cip: he's about to join this list.
If I forgot anyone, please let me know.
Loved: Lu is looking as haggard as Cesar thinks he looks cool and Kingly; and
If he (SNJ) sees something he like, he’s going to take it whether Manuel likes it or not! [I’m rethinking what I said about not wanting SNJ maimed or killed.]; and
First he (Max) has quiet Connie from grilling him, growling and gnawing at his leg not to call Amaya; and
This is the best one: Knowing that Max has a pregnant growth on his arm she declines his offer of the use of his cell phone; and
You are still going strong with: Next we suffer seeing Ceci and Uli in bed, having finished “bonding”
I can't stand not knowing where Mauro is. Please, tn gods, give us a hint today!!
Isn't this HIGH DRAMA! OMG! I'm with Nina, I'm not grieving because I just know he's not dead! No, I haven't looked ahead, I just know they're not going to let Lu take him out like that. I just have to be patient to see when and how they find him!
I really am over the "let's separate Mari and Ivan" plot. This is perhaps the only dumb thing I've seen in this novela. They've got enough going on with the exposing the psychotic tag tem of Lu and Cesar that they really don't need that plot. I hope it's just a distraction, that those two idiots just talk about it but get foiled and busted in the attempt.
Jerky Jose. Really. He can totally go away!
Welcome Desire Dobrev! Thanks for joining us! And to add to Aita's answer, she is being very modest! Anita is the Captain of the recap team and amazes us all with her witty, detailed and inspired "set ups" each week and often pulls double duty right along with me many weeks keeping our patio up to date!
I happen to have caught this show on it's first day in late September, 2014, was immediately impressed and hooked and have never looked back.
We're due another exciting episode today and I promise to do a better proofing job. I'll pop back in from time to time!
And I'd give these cops some credit. Compared to most novela police forces, they're top notch, actually investigating and all. It's weird.
Shame that Uli and Ceci can't get over their obsessions. They might be a good couple together. Crazy and horrible people, but compatible.
Kelly
(Do these count?)
El Negro (accidentally by Horacio)
The photographer (by Cesar via El Negro)
Of course they count! There were dead bodies that could be counted.
Gustavo was the name of the poor photographer.
What a double-edged sword, after leaving the room because Cesar is hitching at her, Amaya runs into Lucrecia and Lucre spews false all over the corridor; "Oh how I do hope Mauro, my darling husband is OK."
Cece has woken up in bed with Ulises and she has to go. He says she should have left at night but she assures him about how good he is in bed and that no one will see her make a good ol', "morning after getaway."
WhoreAss is about to suffocate Cipriano with a pillow then a nurse walks in; Cip is saved by the bell. WhoreAss changes tactics quick.
Max is looking at a map and Cesar disturbs the peace.
WhoreAss is scolded by the nurse that visiting hours aren't the case ATM and he dismisses himself
Brown Sugar Jorge comforts Juliana; "Mauro doesn't deserve to die thia way." "Desahogate." "Accepting your love is the best decision I've made in forever."
Amaya walks around with Caro 2.0. and says that Lucre and Cesar make her ill and she is beginning to think Mauro is done for.
Montage: While everyone is looking for Mauro, Lucre and Cesar sit down like fatasses, Eloisa comforts Lucio and lastly, Lucre pretty much flaunts malevolence in front of Amaya.
Hottie Doctor comforts Cipriano.
Everyone is hoping the best for Mauro and Lucre says to be realistic; "The longer this will take, the deader he'll probably become." The cavalry come in; "The search has been suspended. Mauro by now is dead." (Lucre is giddy with tummy air right now.)
Ulises is with one of his goons and they talk some girl named Sonja.
Max isn't going to stop searching and Juliana suggests that the cavalry watch the first episode of Quiero Amarte because the same.events of the show could apply to Mauro.
More Ulises and Goon talking about Sonja.
Cesar dismisses himself and Max won't take any of this sitting down. Lucre then spins this around, brings up Florencia and insists Mauro is as good as dead so they should stop this little goose hunt (MY GOD, this monster is condescending!) Cesar makes a suggestion; they will have a month to find Mauro and if he isn't found, his will shall come into effect. Max calls Cesar out on this.
Cesar says begins to bitch and says Mauro's death hurts him as much as everyone else. Lucre chimes in; as their mother and Mauro's wife is on Cesar's side. Cesar says if Mauro isn't found, he will take on the business. Max and Juliana (who knows her rank and where she stands damn well) veto that reasonably because Juliana is the oldest (I think I've gotten lost in translation here.) Jorge is the man; he defends Juliana saying Cesar has no right to talk to her that way. Cesar counteracts with that Jorge has no voice or vote around these here parts.
Cece and Ulises text back and forth when BeckieLoveliest finds her; "we're supposed to go to the Psychiatrist! I'm getting tired of following you." Cece bitches right back at her.
Everyone is in anguish; Juliana is going to go call Eloisa, Caro is going to Mexico but will still help out and lastly, Clinging Vine is going somewhere and asks Flavia to keep her posted. (I apologize, something got lost in translation there.)
I am ecstatically happy because of today's events:
1. First of all, I have no doubt that Don Mauro is alive. Everything points to it. The villains' celebration will be short lived. I am wondering if the Curandera is taking care of him. She does good work. The head police mentioned that his body had probably been propelled by the waterfall to parts unknown.
2. What a lovely surprise there was at the airport today! Don Mauro will be with Florencia once again.
3. I suspect that there will be an emotional scene at the airport in tomorrow's episode when Connie and her father bump into Dr. Linaires at the airport. If I am correct, Connie will introduce the doctor to her father, and Manuel will do at least a TRIPLE TAKE when he looks in the eyes of the good doctor and meets his beautiful litle daughter Things are starting to percolate.
4. Cipriano came clean in front of Mariana and Amaya. I am so glad that we did not need to deal with privileged material in a Confession.
I completely agree that the plot with Uli and Ceci etc. cheapens this TN. It was out of place to begin with, and now it is needlessly belaboring the point. ENOUGH ALREADY!
Thanks especially to Anita and Lila for all of your detailed and delightful recaps and for your undying dedication.
Thanks also to all other Assistant Recappers. My prediction re Max and Connie and Sal stands firmly in place. Looking forward to how it all plays out. I trust they will have a 5 years after as well to show the new generation of children.
---
Cesar said that as the first born, he'd take over the business. That's when Juliana rightly pointed out that SHE is the first Montesino and Cesar should suck it. Cesar reminds her that he's a sexist jerk. And also the first varon )male, and therefore above her. That's when everyone jumped in to defend Juli, as they should.
Ulises realizes Sonya might have been the help Mariana needed, so hopefully she's somewhere safe and doesn't get hurt in the next Uli scheme.
I'm a little sorry we didn't see Ceci's getaway. I'd like to know how a blond in southern Mexico is going to hide herself with just some sunglasses.
Kelly
I agree with those of you who think that Connie will pass on to her eternal reward. (I also think that Sal will bite the dust.)
After Connie dies, Manuel will likely have a heart attack or go into a deep depression. At this point, José will straighten up
and become a man and pray hard for his father to be restored to good health. A true reconciliation will ensue. That's all I've got.
I was just about to post it.
What's up?
Quiero Amarte #140 Wednesday 4-8-15 Pt. 1
Hey, y’all ! Time for another exciting chapter of Quiero Amarte! I’m going to get right to the new stuff! Our freeze frame of yesterday was Amaya encountering that lying, cynical, psychopath killer, Lucrecia in the hallway. Well, read the last paragraph of yesterday’s recap. The only thing we got after that is a beautiful transitional sunset and the dawning of a new day.
Unfortunately the new day has not brought any news of Don Mauro Montesinos. In El P Flavia has stayed up all night and refuses to go to bed until she hears news of her Papa. Cesar is there as is his cut-throat lying mother who wears dark shades in the house to hide her lying eyes. Also present in the living or dining room of El P are Amaya, Caro, Connie and Mariana, Juliana and Jorge. Cesar’s affect is more that of commander in chief than griever of his Papa, as we’ll clearly see in a minute. He asks how if there’s any news, Flavia reports that Max and the men have searched all night without success. Lu insensitively says she thinks he really must have drowned like the police suppose. Juli shoots her a look after wincing.
Max enters the living room and Connie makes a bee line to touch and kiss him. No news on Mauro. They have returned so that the members of the search party can rest up, then they will resume the search. Jorge says count him in! Juli asks if anyone was able to verify why Mauro was in Chiapas. Flavia answers no, it’s a mystery and none of it makes sense. Lu pipes in with what is supposed to be reassurance. “Your father will be found, children, a man like Mauro can’t end his days drowned in a river.” Horrified looks all around for the insensitive cow.
Oh boy. It’s Ceci and Uli again. You know what, these two could just stay in bed for the rest of the show for all I care, long as I don’t have to watch, or listen. Ceci sighs about how long it’s been since she woke up in the arms of a man. Uli tells her she should have left under the cover of darkness. Ceci returns from the bathroom. Apparently she like being under Uli’s covers better. She compliments his fornication skill set. Blech!
Oh boy, again. It’s Whor slithering into Cips room. Bastard takes a pillow which is elevating the legs of Cip’s roommate and is about to slap it over Cip’s face to smother him when the Nurse who actually is responsible and ethical catches him and runs him out and fusses him out. The patient is in a very delicate condition and no one can see him without the authorization of Dr. Linares. I’m actually glad Whor got caught!
Back to El P Max is studying a map in order to decide where to search next. Cesar actually says it’s a good idea. Max asks Cesar why he sent Whor to Chiapas. Cesar spins the readymade lie that Whor came to look for Café GourmeT for Max’s product. Max is like please, since when was Cesar interested in his project. Max lets Cesar know that HE, Max, is perfectly capable of resolving the problem with his CG project and Who is the least indicated to help him. Further, Max tells him, he is certain that Whor AND Cesar just want his project to fail but he’s not going to give them the pleasure. Cesar tries to protest that they’ve got enough on their plates with the search. Max doesn’t see but we see Cesar give him a look of guilty surprise. I’m sure Cesar didn’t think Max was smart enough to know he felt this way.
Jorge comforts Juliana. She cries and says the same thing Mauro and Amaya were saying about Florencia just two days prior: that Mauro cannot die in such a tragic way; he does not deserve to die this way! [We agree with you, Juli!] Jorge encourages her to cry, to get it all out so she can recoup the positive attitude she always has. Juli tells Jorge that accepting him into her life has been one of the best decisions she has ever made: She thanks him for his love, his understanding, his support.
Amaya and Caro talk as they walk around the inner courtyard at El P. Amaya also gives voice to something we all feel: Infuriating, almost nauseating disgust at the phony grief and alarm displayed by Cesar and Lu! Amaya feels impotent and responsible for Mauro’s death. Caro gently suggests that maybe he is not dead and they will find him. Amaya doesn’t share Caro’s optimism: she is certain that Lu killed Mauro because he discovered her crimes and Lu does not leave evidence. She is certain that Mauro is dead. When Caro asks, Amaya answers that she doesn’t know what she’s going to do now.
Next we get a mash up of Max, Jorge and the men from the finca searching and calling for Mauro; we see Cesar and Lu leisurely having a drink and coffee al fresco in the garden of El P. This little tableau is not lost on Amaya. We see Manuel arriving and comforting Flavia and Juliana; we see Max, Jorge and the men making inquiries of people along the search route. Here is Eloisa painfully gazing out her window at home approached by a non-smiling Lucio. He must feel her anguish. He hugs her. Mariana, Chelo, Hortie and other house staff light candles in the family chapel. A picture of the beloved Mauro solemnly watches as the women pray. In the study Max, Cesar, Jorge and Manuel consult the map again; Lu walks through the house fanning herself, she looks at a worried and pacing Juli through her pitch black sunglasses and then turns her pitiless eyes to Mariana, Flavia and Amaya in the living room. Amaya knows the hell-born wench is feigning distress but she’s bold enough to not even try very hard! Divers search the river under the watchful eyes of Max, Jorge and Heriberto.
Night has fallen and a new day dawns. Dr. Marco Antonio Linares is with Cip. His face is rough and reddened as if the toxins are leaching through his skin, his liver no longer able to clear poisons. His sightless eyes glisten with tears. Cip is afraid to die because of all the bad things he’s done. Dr. Linares asks if he wants to see his Priest. He says yes, but most of all he wants to see his Daughter, Mariana! Doc L tells him she has come every day, it’s just that he has been asleep. Cip is glad to hear Mariana has been visiting daily. She isn’t there now because of some matter she had to attend to but she’ll be there soon so he should rest and remain calm. Doc L leaves Cip in the care of The Good Nurse. [Ah! This has GOT to be Mauro’s son! What a kind a gentle soul!]
We are given to understand that several days have passed with no trace of Mauro. Gathered in the living room are Juli, Max, Flavia, Jorge, Cesar and Lu. Cesar, drink in hand, says that he doesn’t want to be a pessimist but they must be prepared for the worst. Flavia quickly fires back that he shouldn’t say that. Lu, loving mother that she is tells Flavia that no one wants to think this but as more time passes without knowing Mauro’s whereabouts, the greater the chance that he’ll be found dead. Flavia gives her a look that could kill. Manuel agrees with Lu. Max steps in to put a stop to the negative talk. He says they must remain positive! The Police Commander comes in and everyone gathers round. He states that sadly it is probably that Mauro’s body was washed away by the current, down the waterfall and may have been carried out to sea. This is probably the reason they have been unable to find his body. The search is thus called off. He will now be classified as missing and in all probability is dead. A gasp goes up from the entire group! Cesar manages a better expression of stoic acceptance; Lu is about to laugh but quickly reins in her cheeks to a more somber profile.
I really don’t want to watch this next scene again. Feel free to fill in details. Uli is at La Tormenta talking to the photographer dude who has new phony passports for him. He seems to know a lot about what’s happening at El P and I don’t know why. The upshot is he confirms that Ivan and Mariana are at El P and that Sonia, one of his former employees, now works at El P and she, with the help of Heriberto, helped Mariana to escape.
Max and Flavia refuse to accept that Mauro is dead. The Police Commander understands but insists the evidence shows otherwise. Juliana argues that Max and Amaya were in an accident and missing for several days and stand before him now; couldn’t the same be possible with her Papa! The PC describes their exhaustive efforts which include searching down river and talking to people in surrounding pueblos, none of which yielded anything! He’s sorry and takes his leave and agrees to communicate with Max about anything new.
Cesar faces the group and says like everyone else he would have preferred this not happen but with what the PC just shared, he thinks it’s time to accept the “death of mi Papa.” There is no need to prolong the agony. Max explodes that he is not going to accept it! Lu asks Max to calm down. He shouts he is calm but please don’t ask him to give up searching for his Papa! Lu speaks in a strong voice that she knows it’s hard to accept that Mauro could be dead but he was a mature man. He could’ve had a heart attack. Lu stands and a gong of treachery sounds as she describes the “probable” scenario. “He was walking along the river, no doubt remembering your mother, Amaya.” Lu looks right in Amaya’s face as she says this last bit and Amaya trembles with the extreme exertion it must take not to lunge at Lucrecia’s throat and choke her till her beady little eyes pop out! “No doubt this is the only motivation for Mauro to be at that place.” Cesar asks Lu not to burden and harm herself with that unpleasant thought. “It’s obvious, son, your father wanted to divorce me. He never was able to forget Florencia.” Max looks skyward as if he’s thinking, “Lord, give me strength!” Lu continues that this is the only explanation that explains all this misery. Jorge’s arms are around a horrified Juliana. All, except Cesar, marvel at how Lu has managed to make this all about her. Only Amaya and Caro know how truly depraved is this display.
Cesar faces Max and tells him prolonging the search doesn’t make any sense. Max shouts that it makes all the sense in the world and he is going to keep looking until he finds him and if Cesar thinks he’s dead, then bring Max his body! Cesar says Max should do what he wishes but they should set a deadline (un plazo – input please). If Mauro doesn’t appear in a month, he wants to open and read the will! Flavia and Max gasp aloud. Max looks as if he could rip Cesar’s “heart” out through his mouth as he demands to know how Cesar could be talking about reading a will of someone who is not known to be dead! Max looks down into Cesar’s eyes and tells Cesar he is not going to set deadlines or limits, understood!
Cesar protests that he is not insensitive as Max is trying to paint him: he is practical, he is a realist. Cesar says they can’t wait the rest of their lives to see if Mauro will appear or not. He says the waiting will just prolong the agony and suffering of them all. He claims that the loss of Mauro hurts him more than anyone; it’s an irreparable loss but they have to bring closure within a reasonable amount of time. Time for satan’s whore to chime in that as their mother and Mauro’s wife, she supports Cesar. She thinks that if within a month they have no news of Mauro, they should assume he has died. Max raises his hands in dismissal of Cesar and Lu’s proposal: they can do what they wish, open the will, read it, whatever but Max will not be there! Cesar thinks Max is being insufferable and he doesn’t have to come if he doesn’t want to but as the oldest offspring, he will assume responsibility for carrying out the opening and reading of the will!
Juli now speaks up that SHE is Mauro’s oldest child. Cesar counters that he is the oldest male offspring in the Montesino Ugarte family. Max fires back that Juliana is the oldest child of Mauro and she cannot be written off because she is not Lucrecia’s child, she is the child of Mauro like all the rest of us! Cesar states firmly that HE is the one designated in the absence of Mauro to take the reins of the business! Lu is seated and is enjoying watching her spawn take charge. Max asks who told him that; Cesar says it has ALWAYS been that way! “Juliana, no!’ Cesar stalks away and Jorge takes off after him and Juli takes off after Jorge. Jorge catches up with Cesar in the hallway and tells him he is not going to let him talk to Juliana that way! They go back and forth a few times. Jorge has the height advantage and Cesar has to look up into Jorge’s face to try to jump bad with him! Jorge doesn’t have a voice or a vote so he doesn’t matter! Juli says he does because she (has given?) him one. (Clarification again, please). Cesar completes his escape and Juli has to restrain Jorge from pursuing him further. [Darn! I’d love to see Jorge mop the cobblestones with that bastard!] Juli convinces Jorge now is not the time to provoke a war that will come inevitably.
Ceci and Uli text back and forth about their plans to **ck with Ivan and Mariana again. Ceci is going to meet Uli to give him some money, probably to use to get out of the country with Mariana. [I said long ago that his s.o.b. has got to die! He just won’t leave Mariana alone!] Ceci is outside La T. Becca comes up and fusses at her about being missing the other night. Speaking of missing, Ceci wants to ditch her court mandated appointment with the shrink. Becca’s fussing convinces her to keep the appointment, or at least that’s what Ceci says to shut up Becca.
With the malignant presence of Lu and Cesar gone for now, Flavia can more freely talk about the pain of accepting the possible death of her Papa. Max, Caro, Connie, Manuel and Amaya are there as well. Amaya tells Caro she understands now why her Madrina (GodMother, the late Delores) told her that her Mother was dead even though they had never found the body. Juli and Jorge re-enter the living room. Juli declares that without her father, Cesar is uncontrollable! Manuel observes that with along with Lucrecia’s support he is BEYOND uncontrollable. Where is Lu? She’s in her room resting. Juli and Max go to call Elo to update her. Manuel and Caro take their leave and are promised they will be updated. Connie insists on going with Manuel to the airport: she needs to catch some fresh air. [Hmmmmm, interesting.] Connie, Caro and Manuel leave. Amaya sinks to the sofa and cries.
Back at the hospital El Guapo Dr. Antonio Marco Linares calls Mariana to tell her that Cip has taken a turn for the worse and he thinks his time is near. Mariana is with Ivan in the kitchen of El P as she takes the call. Cip has asked for her and Padre Hipolito. Ivan embraces Mariana. Chelo brings them more bad news: The Police Commander has called off the search for Don Mauro. [They’re killin’ us with grief and they are going to have this poor couple kidnapped again! Or pregnant Mariana who’s father is dying! I hope Uli and Ceci’s plot will just be the means of their being busted and put UNDER the jailhouse!]
Max and Juli, with Jorge by her side, talk to Elo. Of course she is devastated at the news of the search being called off but she does not want them to give up! Max assures her they will not! Elo doesn’t know what they will all do without Mauro! Elo tells them Lucio has been asking where is Mauro and his siblings. Max reiterates that Lucio must not know Mauro is missing. She must tell him Mauro is on a trip and his siblings will be back soon. They can’t tell Lucio anything until they consult with his Pscychiatrist to prepare him. Juli thanks Elo for all her support, especially for Lucio. They will keep her informed. Elo “tells” Mauro that he cannot be dead.
Cesar and Lu commiserate on how hard it is to fake all this sadness and grief. She is in bed with her ever present martini; he sits in a chair at the foot of the bed. He wants to get back to Mexico asap. Cesar is glad the search is called off and Mauro has been declared “disappeared.” [I said missing before, don’t know if there’s a difference?] Lu congratulates him on how he handled the whole matter of the will; why wait, the sooner the better! Cesar investigated and found out when a search for a missing person has been called off, the will can be opened and read. He thinks the timing for bringing this up was perfect while his siblings were all broken with shock and grief. Lucrecia actually laughs and tells Cesar he is a genius, everything is going perfectly! Lu cautions that they must be alert to the possible appearance of Florencia. Oh, Cesar is on it! When he gets to Mexico he’s going to redouble the surveillance efforts. Cesar also wants to get that “stupid imbecile” Max out of the way with his stupid sentimentalities. Lu admonishes Cesar not to kill Max! She doesn’t want any more deaths, much less her son! [She then says something I didn’t quite get which ended in “I prefer him alive.” – any ideas, anyone?] Cesar feigns indignation: how could she think he would want to kill his own brother? He says there are other ways. Without blinking or flinching, Lu asks Cesar what he is thinking about.
Back in the study at El P. Max muses to Jorge and Juliana that it’s funny how his Aunt seems more like his Papa’s wife than his mama. Caught up in the moment, Juli says to the shock of Jorge and Max that Elo has always been in love with “mi Papa”. Ooooops! Well, she’s said it now and doesn’t try to take it back. Yes, it’s a forbidden love that Elo has had to bear in silence. Max thought it was affection, appreciation, but love? Poor Tia, goes Max: she’s in love with the husband of her sister, like I’m in love with my brother’s wife. Juli says the difference is that Elo certainly could have made Mauro happy, unlike Lu. Max has to admit that Lu has never seemed to know how to be happy with his Papa just as Amaya is not happy with Cesar. At least with him she looked better. Max says “Am I telling the truth?” Jorge glances toward the ceiling as if he’s biting his tongue as he thinks of his friend, “. . .here we go again.” Juli nods.
Max now sits alone in the living room of El P, his head in his hands wondering aloud to himself where else can he look. [Lord, this gorgeous hunk of a man. How did I not even know he was drawing breath until this novella!] Amaya enters the room as he sighs heavily. Amaya says how she wishes she could have prevented this. Max doesn’t see how she could have. Mauro is the only one who could have prevented it. “Your Mama and my Papa disappeared in the same river. Perhaps this was their destiny, their way of being together.” Max covers his face and cries. Amaya calls his name and goes by his side. It must take another act of tremendous restraint not to throw her arms around him. She tells him she understands: he’s had to be so strong through all of this. Max cries, “I would give my life for him.” He bows his head and cries again; Amaya gently touches his back and tells him she is very sorry. He touches the hand that is on his shoulder. Mariana and Ivan burst in to tell them Cip has taken a turn for the worse and is dying. Amaya leaves with Ivan and Mariana. Jorge enters the room and, I think, takes a decanter of some hard stuff down from the top shelf of the china cabinet.
Padre Hipolito has arrived at the hospital. Cip asks Padre to pray for him so he won’t go to hell. Padre tells him he must participate in this act of repentance. Cip must ask God’s pardon for all the sins and wrongs he has committed. Cip is convinced God does not love him and will not listen to him; he needs Padre’s intervention.
Whor updates Cesar on Cip’s condition. Cesar wants Cip sent to the other side; Whor argues that nobody is going to believe a drunkard like Cip. Nevertheless, Cesar wants him gone. Whor tells Cesar about his failed attempt to dispatch him. Cesar gets assurances from Whor that Whor never mentioned his name to Cip. Whor says of course not. Cesar gives him an assignment in the plant having to do, I think, with exports. They end the call. Whor seems to be getting used to being Cesar’s slave.
Ivan and Mariana arrive at the hospital. Padre H informs them of Cips torment and refusal to confess his sins so he may be forgiven. Mariana, Amaya and Padre H go to Cips’s bedside.
We cut away momentarily to see Dr. Linares at the airport greeting his wife and cutie pie daughter of, say 5 or 6 or so. Awww, what a loving, beautiful family! His daughter’s name is Florencia. Florencia gets a doll, the wife gets a kiss and a warm embrace. *Sigh*
At El P. Flavia is going to throw herself into working in the finca her Papa so loved to deal with the stress of his being missing. Heriberto catches up to her, lends moral support and off they go to make the finca good and beautiful for when Mauro returns!
At Nescafe Geno and Nuria talk about the tragedy enveloping the Montesinos. Geno thinks she may well have to postpone the wedding: Manuel is devastated by Mauro’s disappearance AND Mauro was going to be a witness at the wedding. There was supposed to be a staff meeting the next day and Max called Geno to cancel it. Nuria says that has to come from Cesar. When Don Mauro is away, Cesar is in charge. This is not what Nuria thinks; of this she is CERTAIN.
Mariana, Amaya and Padre H enter Cip’s room. He greets her warmly and tells her he is afraid. Cip tells her the Padre doesn’t want to plead his case before God. Padre comes forward and says that Cip is the one that won’t confess, to repent; Cip only told him that he didn’t want to go to hell. Amaya gently tells Cip he must be humble if he wants God’s pardon. Padre asks isn’t he sorry for doubting Delores and for having put his daughter up in a bet? For having stolen coffee and flooding the warehouse at El P? He says yes, a little. Cip says he did some things much worse than that.
He confesses that he was paid by a guy named “Negro” to infect Ulises finca with the plague. Also, he was the one that burned the ZE. Mariana asks why he did this. Cip says because Whor paid him and paid him well and between the two of them they set it ablaze.
Freeze frame on Amaya’s troubled countenance.
I'm reading your recap right now Lila.
Anita- If you're reading this, I thank you for all your charge-taking.
I deeply apologize for every sort of miscommunication.
You guys know Caro was changed because she dyed her hair the same color as Karyme's and that was apparently a big bugger, right?
It was a great episode and as I like to say, let's chew on it!
No hard feelings, Corazon!
:D
Nina!
So Constanza is such a city girl that she can't get "fresh" air in the country and has to go suck down some airplane fumes? She is NOT going to be happy in Chiapas. And Doc Guapo looked pretty happy to see his wife, so Caro 2.0 will have to keep looking. I'm not sure this Caro does pathos quite as well anyway.
I can't remember if I said this already, but I love that Lucifer and her spawn still think Florencia is alive. They think they're so smart. No.
Kelly
If a show is simply bad, it takes less time, or if a good show has less intense interactions and dialogue, I can knock them out faster. I understand that some people who watch these don't know a lot of Spanish or may miss them, not have internet or whatever: I try to recreate the episode as faithfully as I can for their benefit.
It's a labor of love but who of us would deny that we don't also enjoy an appreciative, even if small, audience!
Didn't get to some comments.
More tomorrow.
If you had let us know ahead of time, we would gladly have given you an empty time slot or one where Lila and I have to double up. Lila always has Tuesdays.
I haven't read anything yet, but will start now.
Steve--Do the math for us, ok? There are 161 episodes and we are on 141 today (or maybe 142, but I'm not sure how that got messed up).
Lila, you and I are very much detail oriented people, no? We can't help it. Sometimes that is good, sometimes it can bore others to bits. (I say it's good for the brain.)
The schedule stands as published at the top.
Corazon--If you would like one of the days next week, please let us know so we don't double up. It's a shame to waste coverage by duplicating.
To clarify this scene: "Uli is at La Tormenta talking to the photographer dude who has new phony passports for him. He seems to know a lot about what’s happening at El P and I don’t know why."
I thought Uli was hiding out at a local hotel, near El Deseo. Funny, though, how all the places--El P., El D. and various hotels all have that red wall and sheer curtains. No wonder we get confused.
The photographer guy was instructed by Uli to go find out where Mariana was and to keep an eye on who comes and goes. PGuy told him there are patrols surrounding El Deseo and it wouldn't be prudent to try to go back there.
My blood ran cold through the whole episode. This episode more than any others show how . . .I don't even know what words to use! How evil, sick, psychotic, dangerous Lu and Cesar are! Neither of them have the least bit of human feeling, let alone love, for Mauro or really anybody. They don't know HOW to love! They have GOT to get a serious anvil! I can't think of one bad enough!
Thanks, Anita. There are some other comments I want to read before today's episode! See ya later!
Lila
1. I am wondering if the Curandera is taking care of him. She does good work. Brilliant! Hadn't thought of it! I could so see the Curandera, Candelaria, finding him and saving his life! I LOVE IT!
2. I thought that was so sweet, little Florencia! The Nurse that saved Florencia's baby honored her with that name. There is still mystery here: why didn't she go to the authorities? I know, Iknow but the police have been more responsible, heck present, than in any other novela I've ever seen. Maybe she didn't because she was part of Lu's plot. I know that Nurse is dead now, but seems like she's kind of a "bad guy", too!
3. Manuel will certainly see the young Mauro in Dr. Linare's face!!! YES!!
4. Cip finally did some good on his way out!
Yes, we are so over with Uli and Ceci!
You are welcome and thank you for your kind words! You know what? I got a funny feeling when Connie said she wanted to go to the airport but maybe the reason is to call attention to Dr. Linares.
Gosh, I LOVE your Curandera theory!!! It makes me feel better even though I have never thought Mauro was dead!
I said long ago I don't see how Max and Amaya can be together with Connie around though she's not the worst rival for the galan that I've ever seen but we KNOW she's not going to keep Max!
Nina!
We all know the anvil is coming for Connie, she just doesn't know it yet!
Yet. I know she's got to go. Maybe an accident of some sort might take her out. . .
Okay. I said I was going to try to stop guessing and just enjoy the ride, and what a ride it is!
Nina!
Nina
for your replies to my comments. It's fun to guess and be right, but I also really like surprises -- especially in the form of Dr. Linares and his beautiful daughter Florencia.
These relationships will give Don Mauro peace, joy, and serenity, and lots of fun in the twilight of his years.
He'll have a loving wife, a gorgeous daughter-in-law to make Max happy, a wonderful "new" son and beautiful granddaughter all within a family who loves him dearly...and the Montesinos and Amaya will have a fabulous brother.
no I don't think Connie will keep max I don't think she will die in childbirth I don't think she's the best choice for max. she is mean to aMaya. maybe she'll change when Max Merrys amaya because she is going to be step mom to baby max.
Now, I know Floridia said it first that Connie is NOT carrying Max's but Sal's baby so props to her. How about this:
Connie has a car accident and the pregnancy is jeopardized and this somehow leads to blood typing or gathering of information which leads to the discovery that Max is not the baby. Connie confesses that she rigged the sample or something guaranteeing that the DNA would show that Max is the father but she knows it's Sal.
Okay, that's kind of torturous logic and I don't have a medical background so excuse me but, just want to go on record!
So Connie and the baby survive but knowing she lied and that the baby is not his AND perhaps having found out Lu lying about Cesar being Mauro's Max will see in this situation (marrying Connie due to a false paternity claim) too much of a parallel with the tragedy that unfolded in his beloved Papa's life.
So Max, once again, tells Connie he doesn't love her but he does love Amaya -- and the whole truth has come out now -- thus Max and Amaya are able to get together and neither Connie nor her baby have to die!
I just feel all warm and fuzzy reading your last post! I think that's exactly what's going to happen and I'm going to enjoy every minute of watching it unfold!
:D
oops!
Just one correction, Floridia--Your #2 up above: "The Nurse that saved Florencia's baby honored her with that name." It couldn't have been like that because the baby that was saved was Dr. Marco Antonio Linares. His daughter is Florencia. Today's episode will do a little more to explain.
Also, did anyone recognize another Amor Bravio actress? Remember Teresa, the attorney, the Padre's sister who took on Daniel's case to clear his status? She was played by Sandra Kai--today she is Dr. Guapo's wife.
So, Leila--we can add her and someone else I forgot...the hardworking Hector, played by Hector Saez; he was Lic. Osvaldo Becerra in AB.
GO TEAM AB!
Here comes the recap.
Cip is admitting to Padre Hipolito all his latest sins with Mari and Amaya present. Besides having admitted earlier to robbing the coffee and flooding the warehouse at El P., he admits to starting the plague at Ulises finca, for which Negro (Aaron) paid him well, and to burning the EZ lands, for which Whoracio paid him well and helped him. Amaya is astonished. She tells him he knew how much it meant for her to bring her mother’s fields back into coffee production. Cip says yes, but what does it matter, she’ll be well taken care of since she is a Montesinos. He still can’t bring himself to accept the blame—he took the money to live on and that wasn’t a bad thing (the reality is he used it all to gamble and drink). After some discomfort, agitation and commotion in his room, Cip expires. Padre performs the last rites. Mariana returns to Iván’s waiting arms. Iván is surprised when he hears about Cip setting the fire to the ZE. Mari didn’t think it would hurt this much. Amaya says his illness, money, alcohol and the gambling were in control of his decisions. She urges her to forgive him. Mari says she has.
Juliana and Jorge are still at El P. discussing how important Nescafé was to Mauro and Cesar and Luce will take it all apart. Jorge says that will only happen if she and Max lets it happen. They discuss what will happen now, without Mauro, after they get the results of the analysis of the chemical Cesar put in her car. Jorge says the two of them will confront Cesar. Juli doesn’t think it will make any difference. Cesar only respects Mauro’s authority (oh, if she only knew the whole story), and without Mauro’s presence, he will be insufferable. Jorge thinks he’ll be controllable because Luce isn’t going to interfere. Juli thinks just the opposite, including colluding to get rid of her. For the first time Juli shares with Jorge that she and Elo have very strong suspicions that Luce was the one that killed Omar. Jorge is shocked. Yes, she continues, and so was Mauro when they told him. Luce is capable of eliminating anyone that gets in her way. That’s reason she thinks Luce will come after her—Juli owns 50% of El Paraiso. Jorge wants to go to Max right away with all this information. Juli doesn’t think it’s wise. After all, it’s his mother who is being accused. He won’t be able to take that and besides, she has no proof. Jorge promises they will get the evidence. Juli is distraught. If Mauro doesn’t appear, Luce and Cesar will have won (ISBIS – van a salir con la suya—come out with theirs).
Back at El P., Luce (still in her red, lacy, boat-necked top, so it’s the same day as yesterday’s episode) has called a family meeting. She throws out a big lie, hoping it will stop the rest of the family from continuing to look for Mauro. She tells them they just talked to Mauro’s doctor. Mauro wasn’t feeling well—his heart—yesterday. He didn’t have an appointment but they took him. The doctor gave him some very strong medicine and told him he needed bed rest. Obvio, he didn’t follow doctor’s orders. The doctor thinks it is most probable Mauro suffered a heart attack, there by the river and that’s why he fell in. If it happened that way, it is unlikely he would have survived. Max jumps up furious. He won’t accept it as a cause of death. Neither will Flavia. They are going to keep looking, officials be damned. Luce gets very agitated. She’s ready to leave the finca. It’s just too much for her. Cesar will also leave, someone has to be at the head of Nescafé. Juli gives a mental eye-roll to Jorge. Cesar is going to take Amaya with them as soon as she gets back from the clinic.
Amaya is talking to Mari in the clinic about Cip’s having burned ZE. She gives her some words of comfort, gives her a hug and leaves. Uli’s Photographer Guy is seen in the background checking out Mari and Iván. PhotogGuy reports to Uli regarding the timely death of Cipriano. Uli is astounded to learn it was Cip who burned down the ZE coffee fields. PG wasn’t able to ascertain the motives, but he did have an accomplice. PG will get the intel on that.
With Cip dead, Mariana is torn on whether to bury him next to Dolores. They do the hospital paperwork for the body to be released. Mariana is telling Iván how she waited until the last minute to hear from Cip that he loved her. Mariana is still distraught over the way Dolores died and now Cip, dying with a mountain of transgressions he was responsible for. Her family is gone now. Iván tries to cheer her up and think about the family they are starting, all the children they’ll have and all the grandchildren, too. He wants to be the best father and the best husband in the world. Mariana doesn’t know what she would have done without him. Mariana decides to bury him next to Dolores.
Police Commander meets with Domingo, the BarOwnerGuy. Domingo swears he does not sell adulterated liquor. He has no problem with the police checking every bottle he has in the place. He has a theory that someone may have added whatever that substance was to what Cip was drinking. Hmmm, PC considers the possibility.
Consta cheerily announces her return from her trip to the airport to “get some fresh air” (ha—that was a good one yesterday—plenty of jet fuel exhaust there for those who miss the city) to find Max alone and depressed. Max is fed up with Cesar. The only thing that is important to Cesar is business affairs, money, and power. Consta reminds him Cesar has always been like that. Max counters, but he shouldn’t, not while Mauro continues to be missing. Consta reminds him that since Cesar acquired Manuel’s shares in Nescafé, Cesar feels he is at the helm. Max foresees his not running the business the way Mauro did, as a benevolent patriarch. Max doesn’t think he can keep working with Cesar. Consta thinks he has to, for the sake of all the others, including his not-yet-born son. Max doesn’t think it will be possible. Doesn’t she remember how Cesar manipulated the votes against his project? He’s likely to do whatever he wants now, thinking he has the votes. Consta says if all the rest of the shareholders, his sisters, work together, they can prevent it. Since Max is not convinced Mauro is dead, searching for him is all he can think about right now.
Max is off to do another search with Juli. He and Flavia have to persuade Consta not to come with him. Before he and Juli leave, Amaya comes back from the clinic. She tells Max and the gathered crowd it was Whoracio that engaged Cipriano and the two of them set the fire that burned down the ZE. Cesar is out of sight, but not out of hearing. Everyone is shocked. Cesar is stone-faced as he turns on his heels and leaves. The family gathered in the living room are all trying to figure out why Whoracio would do something like that—obvio to them it was to pay Amaya back, but why ruin it for his own daughter as well as so many other people whose jobs depended on the production of the coffee. Wow, they all have their thinking caps on (and beanies off) and figure out that it must have been Whoracio who paid Cip’s bail and that’s why he was nosing around the clinic wanting to know how Cip was—he didn’t want to be fingered by Cip.
Aha! Cesar left to call Whoracio to tell him: Game Over! Whoracio got fingered. Fortunately Cesar hasn’t been yet, so he orders Whor out of the country, immediately. Doesn’t matter where. Whor can take 5 min. to go home to pack and get his passport. Cesar agrees to put money in Whor’s bank account to cover expenses. He tells Whor to contact him by cell phone the minute he’s out of the country. Later he thinks to himself that Whor is a danger because if he’s detained, he’d spill his guts for a glass of water. Cesar can’t afford that. He wishes he’d never trusted Whor. Of course, once he’s out of the country, he’ll make drop a dime on him. What a guy!
The two-faced bastard comes back to join the group in the living room, ostensibly to tell Amaya they are going back to Mexico City immediately. Amaya makes it known she is going to stay at El P. to be with Mariana. He feigns horror that it was Whoracio and Cipriano that ruined the ZE. Then he joins the blame-game by trying to deflect culpability away from Cipriano. Who is going to believe an old drunk anyway. Amaya wants to call Whoracio. Better not to give him any advance warning. So Cesar “volunteers” to call Whoracio to get the truth out of him. Max says he has a better idea. He’s going to call Nescafé and tell security to find him and hold him. Cesar lets him, knowing Whoracio is probably out of the building by then. Cesar leaves to go call the police.
Domingo, the BOG, has shown up at the clinic. He’s with Mari and Iván. He didn’t know Cip had passed away. He’s sorry for her loss. He knows how rotten Cip was to her and all she suffered. He came to talk to Cip about the matter of the adulterated alcohol. All his liquor was checked by the authorities and nothing was found. But after asking around he learned that it was Amaya’s ex-husband who was with Cip, drinking. Oddly, he left just before Cip got sick.
Domingo is back at the cantina telling all the buds about Cipriano and his recent passing. They all feel sorry for how he treated Dolores and Mariana. Contrary to custom, they all agree NOT to close the bar in mourning for him.
Amaya’s face has anguish written all over it as she goes to the kitchen for a cup of tea. Hector wants to know how he can help. Amaya needs him to help with the funeral arrangements.
Security guards have no luck finding Whoracio in the Nescafé Offices. They find out from the security cameras he left in his car some time ago. They go off to call Max with the news. Back at El P. they are sure someone gave Whor some advance warning. Cesar tries to squelch that idea, but it’s too much of a coincidence for Juliana with what they already know—Cipriano dies, Whoracio flees. Max wants to know what the police are doing. Cesar lies and says the usual—checking highways, trains, buses, airports. After some further discussion, Luce is ready to leave for the airport. Cesar approaches Amaya for a public good-bye kiss, which Amaya deflects, while Max is definitely watching—but it’s hard to tell what he saw since he was seeing the back of Cesar’s head. Amaya is staying put until after the funeral for Cipriano. (Did anyone out there notice that no one got up and hugged Luce when she said good-bye?)
Whoracio arrives at the Mexico City airport and is seen hustling for a ticket to anywhere. He rushes off as soon as the paperwork is finished, leaving the clerk with words in her mouth (ISBIS – dejarla con palabras en la boca).
Oh, goodie, something pleasant to contemplate while waiting for anvils to fall. Dr. Guapo Marco Antonio Linares is welcoming his family to their new home (all done in deep rose—where are the sheer curtains…) He missed his family. Little Flo runs off to see her room while he gives his wife some longed for smoochies. She chides him for not having gotten around to finding if there is someone who can locate his bio-mom, Florencia. He hasn’t had time, but he knows it will be difficult to face his past. That’s why they moved to Mexico. He’ll start making inquiries, now that he’s here in Chiapas, to see if someone knew his bio-mom. Florencia is not a very common name. (This is no big reveal to us, but it’s nice to have that out in the open now. Dr.Guapo is, without a doubt, the long-thought-dead infant son of Mauro and Florencia!!!) He feels fortunate to have had two mothers; one who gave him life and the other who saved him when they wanted to get rid of him. While they are talking he gets a call from the clinic to let him know about Cip.
My, my, things are coming together. Mariana, who is still at the clinic, has called Amaya at El P. Does Amaya have any reason to think Whoracio could have wanted to harm Cipriano on purpose? Mari tells her of Domingo, BOG’s suspicions. It’s just one more thing to add to Amaya’s burdens. She tells the remaining family what Mariana said on the phone. Is there no end to Whoracio’s evil transgressions? Can he have gone as far as trying to kill Cipriano? Just as Consta takes a pot shot at Amaya for her bad choice in husbands, her phone rings. Caro and Manuel have only just arrived in Mexico City. Their plane was late. There is no more news on Mauro and further, Whoracio and Cipriano were responsible for setting the fire at ZE. WOW! What a coinkydink. As Amaya is telling the two about Whoracio, who should they see in the airport but Whoracio. Manuel confronts him. Caro disappears for a moment and comes right back to accuse him and with her are two airport police blocking him. Whoracio *looks* trapped, but is he? He’s a slippery one. He tries arguing with them. They want him arrested. Caro says there is a warrant out for his arrest in Chiapas (not so fast, but it might work, girl) for arson. The police agree to take him into custody. He blows his cool, but that certainly doesn’t work. Off they go to the pokey for an interrogation. Caro calls Amaya right back to tell her what went down. Apparently he was taking a pleasure trip to Paris. Ya, como no. No one at El P. believes *that* story. He would have to had let someone know at Nescafé that he was taking a vacation. It’s not like Paris is right around the corner of the block.
Jorge and Juliana have decided to return to Mexico City right away. Juliana wants to confront Whoracio on the matter of the arson. Amaya and Max are going to wait until after Cip’s funeral the next day. Consta immediately has objections. If Amaya is going, why is it necessary for Max to go? Max says it was his project. He wants to confront this good-for-nothing, too. Consta wants to know what about the search for Mauro? Flavia says she can take charge of that. Max says he’ll return right away, so it will only be a short delay for him.
Rats, I was hoping this would at least be a Cecy-free recap. Suffice it to say she is trying to convince her psychiatrist she doesn’t need the sessions. She’s perfectly sane and furthermore, she faked her tests to make her seem crazy so she could be let out of jail. He thinks it’s pretty hard to fake those tests. Cecy insists she’s not crazy. She’d like to know how much it would cost her if he would report to the court she’s been attending sessions but not actually coming. She takes her checkbook out right then and there and basically asks how much? He rises from his desk, he says quite firmly he’s sorry but ethics and his professional integrity are at stake and he can’t do that.
Back at the clinic, all the necessary documents for Cipriano have been signed and approved. Mariana will be able to come for Cip tomorrow for burial. Good Nurse tells Mariana she talked to Dr. Guapo and he’s sorry he wasn’t with her, but he’d like to be with her for the funeral. Mariana is pleased and tells her where the burial will take place. They hardly finish speaking when Dr. Guapo is there. Mariana introduces him to her husband, Iván.
Cesar and Lucrecia have reached the Chiapas airport. He says to his mother it is time to call the police and charge Whoracio. He’s sure Whor is out of the country and they won’t need to worry about him. But, if not, he still has means to pressure him to keep his mouth closed. He tells Luce Whor is the one who stole all of Amaya’s money and he has proof. Luce is hearing this for the first time. She’s amazed. She probably didn’t think he was that smart. As the frame freezes, we see Cesar, listening to some garbled voices. He looks toward Luce stunned (or is it Luce who is hearing the garbled voices…...)
"Mauro wasn’t feeling well—his heart—yesterday"
It has been Dias Despues, but they lie about just having talked to Mauro's doctor.
Nina
Whoa! I started this comment an hour ago: my son and I are just coming out of the basement for a tornado warning! Got a cloud burst but thankfully, no tornado. More storms due tonight!
She throws out a big lie, hoping it will stop the rest of the family from continuing to look for Mauro. Just when I think she's shocked and amazed me all she can, Lu sinks to another low! You know, it's better this way so that when they hear all the evil she's done, it won't be absolutely so shocking. It WILL be shocking and painful, but maybe this is the beginning of that painful process.
Oh darn, duty calls! I'll be back, Anita! This recap is as riveting as the episode!
Well there was action at the airport today, but not what I had predicted. I thought that Manuel would bump into Dr. Mauro-Clone, not Horacio.
Anita,
Thank you again immensely for your
detailed and concise recap. All of your reports are helpful for things I might miss...again, a labor of love -- telenovela love.
It's intriguing to know that so many of these actors were in AB.
They are all terrific. It's fascinating seeing them in a variety of roles
For the record, my #2 was not
what you commented on recently. My post was up above that. I said that Don Mauro would be with Florencia once again -- meaning that he would be with his granddaughter named Florencia, and that the original Florencia's legacy would live on.
Lila,
My theory on Connie and the baby is different from yours.
I think that Connie does not know who the father is because she did not give a sample from either Sal or Max...but something from another person. So, in her eyes, the baby could be the child of Sal or Max...there's a fifty fifty chance. But she was 100% sure that she did not want to remain involved with Sal.
Now, I believe that something will provoke a crisis with Connie and the pregnancy and then it will be revealed that Max is not the father. Max will become very disillusioned with Connie. She will probably die from the crisis.
When Sal finally finds out the truth, he could easily die in a car crash because he is known for his rage.
The baby will be an orphan and will be adopted by Juli and Jorge.
Of this I am certain...why else go into all that detail about her sterility?
When Connie dies, Manuel will go into a great depression, and José will at last step up to the plate and carry on the legacy for his father.
That's it. I will not burden you all with this any more. Whatever happens, I will be happy because I am thrilled with Dr. Clone and Florencia coming into Don Mauro's life, and of course Amaya and Max will be together. ..All will have many children. The Montesinos will live on.
Now let's find Don Mauro. He is the heart and soul of this family.
Please make that post by Floridia.
(We do have our first four letters in common.)
In a moment of extreme turmoil and distress for the Montesino family,
Connie decided to hurl a snide remark to Amaya as Amaya was bemoaning the fact that Horacio had done many bad things; Amaya commented that still she wouldn't have expected him to go this far.
Connie retorted, "Obviously, you did not know your husband very well." Max heard it and gave Amaya a look tinged with sympathy.
He also knew that Constanza was out of line with her callousness.
I've been getting scheduled extra out of office work time for the past couple of weeks and on top of that I got food poisoning
That all adds up to no QA time
and I'm still a couple of epis behind
but
I think I'd enjoy Cip getting his well deserved comeuppance more if it wasn't making Mariana suffer as well
She has suffered enough, she deserves a break. I'd even give Cip a pass for her sake.
(Did anyone out there notice that no one got up and hugged Luce when she said good-bye?) Yes, Anita! Not only that, she had to prompt them to say goodbye! Like I said above, this is all a part of the process to help them face their mother's evil and to let her go when she gets the hopefully fatal anvil!
There's no doubt Dr. Antonio Marco Linares is Mauro's son! Yes! So good to hear that is something else Lu didn't do right.
Connie was quite the bitch this episode, wasn't she? So inappropriate. I hope Max took note.
Can Cecy just go away. She can even live. Just go.
Excellent! Just finished! It's significant that Cesar denounced Whor to the Police right at the time they had taken him for interrogation so while they might not have been able to hold him when they first detained him, they certainly will with Cesar's call. This is PERFECT! Cesar has no idea they have Whor and I hope he will sing like a canary!
Well, it's been a long day. Thank you Anita for another exquisitely detailed, crystal clear and enjoyable recap! Thanks a lot! See y'all tomorrow!
Are you in Illinois?
Just heard about the deadly tornado and others. Thank goodness you and your family are safe.
All the best ....
Floridia--You are correct--I should have been addressing #2 to Lila. I know she knows the story well, so it may have been a temporary lapse due to the weather conditions!
Anne--Florencia and Lucrecia were both pregnant at the same time. Mauro didn't know about Flo's pregnancy--they were about to be married and she was going to tell him when Luce showed up with the news she was pregnant with Mauro's child. He stepped up to the plate (under some pressure) and married Luce.
Flo's baby, until these last few episodes was thought to be dead, dying a few days after his birth. He was buried in the same area with the Carmona's (Mauro's first wife, Elena Carmona). Amaya and Mauro didn't know of this infant until many episodes in. They both, separately, visited the baby's grave.
We were all just as surprised when Dr. Guapo showed up. Of course, he'd been playing the young Mauro in all the flashbacks, so the resemblance was not lost on us--or on Amaya and Max. Hope this helps.
I have found myself behind yet again and I am grateful for the recaps. I'm hoping to catch up this weekend.
Yes, I can't wait to see a happy Mauro surrounded by all his nietos and nietas. He'll certainly tear up when he learns Dr. Guapo's daughter is named after his Flo.
Sneaky2Shoes--We always enjoy your visits when you stop by. So sorry your workload interferes with telenovelas. I mean, what's more important???? Food poisoning is no fun--especially if you are on vacation and you spend 2-3 days recovering and your vaca is only 6 days long!
And I've done triple recap duty this week too!
Sombra is good. As is QA. After a couple years of TN drought, there seems to be a flood of shows I like.
That could be easily checked.
I can see something like, he was running out of his medicine and didn't take time to get the RX refilled.
On top of that, the two people most affected by the news, Max and Flavia, still believe Luce is a bad, but decent mother.
(Lila--I also noticed that it was Max who was comforting and hugging Flavia when they were hit with the latest bad news--I think it was when the Police C. called off the search, while Cesar moved over to put his arm around Luce. In a normal family, wouldn't the mother want to comfort her child, who just heard terrible news about the father?)
It might still be that one of these persons will call the doc to check up. That would, to my way of thinking, be Eloisa. I hope so. She and Juli are definitely trying to bring Luce down and are being very careful to keep their investigations behind the scenes.
My big problem with Univision is that they should've put Quiero Amarte on the EVENINGS instead of Daytime.
I would've had Hasta on the Daytime instead, but oh well.
I'm looking forward to finding IF Elo will ever find out her sister, Lu is a serial killer & psycho.
Excellent analysis for the Big Lie;
also C and L are getting giddy and somewhat careless ...not to mention irrational in believing that Florencia or her emissary has been leaving messages at their door.
I think Eloisa is closer to finding out what evil lurks within Luce before Max and Flavia. It's not IF, but HOW SOON.
Lu is not your run of the mill CSI serial killer & psycho. She's very complex and has very calculated reasons for doing what she does. Maybe you could find some other words to describe her?
Time for the show! See y'all later!
Can anyone explain what's going on ?
We've discussed that here. It annoys us a bit.
bout her background, you know when she was a child and where she came from. she has no conscience no feelings about anything or anyone no remorse about the lives she's taken. no scenario has a good ending for this woman
Or her sad son.
Nina!
Well, after hearing about how much time Lila and Anita spend on their recaps, I’m feeling a little guilty about mine. I mean, you’re still getting the 1-hour version, but you should know I feel terrible about it. As always, filling in the gaps and corrections are welcome.
-One of the airports-
Rehash of Cesar foolishly thinking Horacio is out of the country by now so he’s safe in calling the police to denounce him. Lu is too busy hearing voices to help.
-Finca El Paraiso-
Max detaches himself from Constanza, and she gripes AGAIN about him going to Mexico (DF) with Amaya. He reminds her AGAIN that he’s not going WITH Amaya, but is going up there to confront Hor, so just quit already (or something nicer, but the sentiment is the same). Le me do what I have to do, jeez. She is feeling insecure and wants to go with, but he wants her to stay for her health and the baby’s (and probably his own mental health). He tells her AGAIN that he feels nothing for Amaya and there is nothing between them. She finally unsuctions herself form him, but not before they hug and Max sees Amaya in the background, having heard the conversation.
Amaya gets on the phone with Cesar to tell him about how Hor was found at the airport. Cesar gets up in arms as he tends to do to point out that they don’t have any proof that Hor had anything to do with anything, but he agrees to investigate. When he hangs up, he’s angry about that “imbecile” (pick a better blackmail victim next time). Lu is just so very happy about having the house to herself.
-Police Station in DF-
Hor is indignant that they would dare accuse him of such wrongdoings. I’m innocent, I tell ya’. Caro argues with him until Manuel interrupts to stop them. Caro then tells the cop about the fire that Cip confessed to before finally dying, and they think that Hor paid Cip. Hor defends himself, that he was with his suegro of 10 years and they talked about personal stuff. Manuel accuses him of not only the fire, but of killing said dearly departed suegro. Hor angrily demands proof. (He’s at indignation).
-Finca El P-
Ivan, who has made himself comfortable with all these people he still doesn’t remember, and Mariana get back to talk to Hydrangea (because Hortensia is a worse name) about the burial for Cip. Meanwhile, Flavia and Heriberto have gone to look for Mauro.
-Super secret hotel room in the middle of town-
Ceci practically jumps Uli when she gets to his room. She tells him about that stupid ethical therapist (I love when they show competent professionals that aren’t all willing to take a bribe). He fixes her a drink, updates her Mari, tell her Vale is out of town (not sure what Vale’s part in this is), while Ceci takes off bits of clothes. She offers to help with the DF part of the plan since she knows the city. She finally gets off enough clothes to be ready to kiss him. Ick.
-Finca La Tormenta, WUN-
Beca asks the maid where Ceci is, but the maid has no idea. Beca gets a call from the doc, telling her he understands Beca is responsible for Ceci (ha!), and that Ceci tried to bribe him. He’s going to have to turn her in if (she doesn’t go to her appt?).
Finca El P-
Chelo tries to get Mari to eat something, but she’s not hungry. Ivan talks about something that they realize only happened a few months ago. Que!? Then he remembers the wedding! Chelo asks about the boda (I think she also said honeymoon but corrected herself). He romantically recounts the memory of his most beautiful bride.
-Jail-
Guess no one believed Horacio because he’s in jail and gets Cesar as a visitor. Hor is ticked; he should have been in Paric by now. Cesar tells him Amaya suspects him of poisoning Cip, but there’s no proof and he’ll be out soon. Cesar reminds him not to mention his name in all this. “Claro que no”, says the schmuck. Cesar can’t get him out now, but tomorrow for sure. (Who thinks Hor will still be alive tomorrow?)
-Finca El P-
Amaya runs in to Max in the living room and asks sensitively about news of his father. Cons comes in, makes things awkward, and plants herself on Max. Amaya leaves while Max watches her go.
Heriberto has built a bonfire somewhere on the property where Flavia asks to join him. He offers her a jacket, because he’s a gentleman like that, and they talk about Mauro. She cries about wanting to see him again, get a kiss (in a fatherly way she means) from him, etc. He tries to comfort her and not to lose hope. (I’m sure the curandera is on this! I’m hoping.)
-Elo’s Place-
Cute filler scene with Elo and Lucio. She asks why he’s up, but he’s not tired. He wants to see papa. She distracts him with some painting. He dabs a bit on her nose and laughs. She looks like a payaso (clown). She paints his hand in return and they both laugh, and Lucio says “te quiero mama”. Aw. He loves her. (Everyone knows she’s his real mother).
-MM-
His birth mother is in her room, alone except for all her voices, recalling shooting Mauro. She takes his ppicture out of a frame and slowly rips it in halp, while telling Mauro he and Florencia will be together again. (I thought she said they are together again, but she thinks Flo is alive, so que?) Scary voices keep whispering as she tears the Mauro half in little bits, and then she laughs and tosses the bits. (looks like we’re going with a manicomio for her?)
-Chiapas, various locations-
Cip gets buried while his soul (likely) goes straight to hell. It’s attended by Mari and Ivan, Amya and Max, Chelo, Hector and Hydrangea, and Doc Secret Hermano. All of them are there for Mariana, because no one, not even the bar crowd, cares about Cip being dead. Doc Marco Antonio Linares (he does have a real name) walks through the cemetery afterwards and see the grave site of Florencia and David. He thinks it’s his mother and that she’s dead. A cemetery guy (CG) walks by and Doc asks about the gravesite. CG says he was paid to look after it for her daighter by Dolores, but Dolores dies a few months ago. (It’s been that long??) CG fills in Doc about the plane blowing up, and that Florenica disappeared and isn’t really interred in the grave. Doc Super Optimist assumes then that his mother is alive, and also he has a sister! He asks who the sister is, but CG suddenly gets worried about blabbing all this to a stranger and suggests he go ask at Finca el D, since that’s where David worked.
His wife and daughter, meanwhile, are shopping in a local market. She picks up some food and then wants to buy a treat for Florencita. Luckily, the dulce seller is right there. After she buys one, the dulce girls goes into a big long story about her hard life, trying to guilt them into buying more. Instead of telling her to piss off, Mrs. Doctor Hermano hires her as their new maid/housekeeper. (Well good for dulce-seller’s pushy self!)
Flavia gets back to the house and, god bless her, advises Constanza to not pressure Max. Let him confront Horacio, and quit bugging him. (Amargar- to embitter, to oppress/depress, to eat at, gnaw at. Looks like it can also be used as to spoil, as in to spoil a day, amargar el dia. Ver Constanza me amarga el dia).
-DF, various-
In jail. Horacio gets a better looking visitor in Juliana, but she reams him out, but he says he was in Chiapas working for her brother. She immediately jumps to the right conclusion- that Cesar was behind all this becaseu he never supported the 3-in-1 project. That’s what she say when Cesar was paying Hor in cash that day! Juli and Jorge (also there) don’t believe anything Hor tells her about being innocent and never ever ever doing anything like this, even for his boss. He tells them to get out.
In some office, Geno and Manuel talk. Manuel wants to believe Mauro is still alive but thinks in this one case, Lu is right. He probably isn’t. He still wants to get married and not postpone, but have a smaller, more intimate ceremony. Geno is cool with that. Jose interrupts then to hand over some reports. Manuel notes that he’s working, and he’s like, yeah, well, you’re buying me a car, so why not? He wants to go get it. Gag.
-Chiapas-
Max gets back from the burial and Con apologizes, but then says she’ll feel better when he’s not with Amaya. He AGAIN has to tell her that he’s not going to DF WITH Amaya. Then Max suggests she get a freakin’ hobby already (or something to that effect). Go back to school. DO something. She doesn’t want to go back to that same school because of Sal, but she’ll do something. He says she should find something she’s passionate about, but she’s only passionate about loving him. Gag, part 2. (I never thought she’d go so low as to lie about the paternity test, but I’m starting to hope she did).
Amaya takes her leae of Mari, and asks Ivan to watch over her. He’ll do so, and protect her with his life. True love! Connie looks on the young couple with maybe some envy as Max and Amaya leave.
Flav and Heriberto show Mauro’s pic around town, still looking for clues. They check a clinic or something, and without any luck, Flavia looks discouraged. The Doctor’s new dulce-selling maid runs between them and doesn’t have time to look at the pic. (This must mean something, or it will. No coincidences in novelalandia). Heriberto didn’t know his father and Flav doesn’t know how he did it. She’s been a basket case and her father’s only been gone a short time.
Chelo is busy embroidering when Cons enters the kitchen and asks if it’s hard. (Only if you want it to look good). Chelo will show her how and maybe she can make something for the baby. Hydrangea interrupts to tell Cons that Sal is at the door. Sals wonders if he can halp, and also he wanted to see her. “It’s a shame the baby wasn’t mine.” (We all agree). “How can you tell me that?”, and she shuts him down. He was with Flavia after all, but she was just his clavo that takes out the other clavo. “Me estaba clavando con ella”, but he always loved Cons. She thinks it’s better if he leaves, but he misses her soooo much. She misses her FRIEND too, but nothing more. He gets very close and asks really? She backs away and says they won’t talk about this again.
-DF-
Hey! Hor lived! Cesar has actually gotten him out of jail, buts him a snack likes he’s a child, and tells him (I think) to go to work as always. How tells Cesar that Juliana thinks he, Cesar, is behind everything. Cara de mega-pissed off de Cesar.
Monday! Oh my god you guys. Should be good.
Kelly
Going to read the recap during commercials, La Sombra is on!
Thank you!
Lu is just so very happy about having the house to herself.
Hydrangea (because Hortensia is a worse name) -- good call!
I love when they show competent professionals that aren’t all willing to take a bribe) -- Amen! I was totally surprised, pleasantly surprised! What a breath of fresh air!
(I think she also said honeymoon but corrected herself) -- she did. That was funny!
Cons comes in, makes things awkward, and plants herself on Max. -- now that's normal behavior for Connie!
His birth mother is in her room, alone except for all her voices,
(I thought she said they are together again, but she thinks Flo is alive, so que? - I believe she said Mauro and Florencia would be together soon. She thinks Mauro is dead and they plan to kill Florencia.
but CG suddenly gets worried about blabbing all this to a stranger and suggests he go ask at Finca el D, since that’s where David worked. - Cemetary guy told him to go as at El Paraiso as that is where David (the man who he thinks is his father) worked as an Administrator.
Flavia gave Connie a good tip. Flavia tolerates Connie but it's clear she doesn't really like her. Did you see the cold, flat farewell Flavia gave her. And the day when everyone found out Mauro was missing Connie tried to comfort Flavia but it was very hesitant and tentative. Very consistent with these character's relationship.
Like I keep saying: how gratifying to have smart good guys! Love how Juli figured out right away that Cesar is behind the burning of ZR! Yes!
More coming up.
Oh, that damned Sal! Looking for someone to obsess and possess. He is a stalker supreme. Let him meet Ceci and try to control her, far, far away up North!
Kelly, did you get the feeling that we got a we bit edited today? We don't have to dwell on it: don't want to jinx things.
Once again, thank you. I'm out! Gotta recap La Sombra!
I absolutely enjoyed your recap, and you posted almost instanteously - not one bit of a wait.
I especially enjoyed your translations - particularly -- me estaba clavando con ella -- I had never heard that before, but I think I can find a place to use it in real life when talking about a friend or acquaintance.
I did not like the dulce seller. She was very pushy, but many of those sellers act that way and have a big long sob story to tell. It's a matter of day-to-day survival. I thought that Dr. Guapo's wife acted too fast in hiring her.
It occurred to me that Ulysses' private eye might have hired her to get info on the doctor -- since he was hanging out at the hospital.
She could have been rushing back to report to him.
The other eerie thing was Cecy telling Uli that Vale was not around. He may have had another sick kidnapping planned connected to Amaya and Mariana by using the child. I hope the doctor's child is not involved. I so wish we were through with these two weirdos.
Now, with regard to Seething Sal,
my prediction about him may be
coming to fruition in the next episode. I will say no more.
Thanks again, Kelly ..
and glad that, you, Lila are safe and sound. Many years ago, when I was teaching, there was a huge tornado scare at the end of the day just after the students left. The teachers were huddled into dark storage closets, and it was frightening. My children were young then, and I really thought it was going to be the end for me right then and there. Fortunately, we were all unharmed
Have a great weekend one and all.
Really looking forward to Monday's episode.
Nina!
I didn't consider that the pushy seller girl could be a spy. I hope not. I'd rather her be a key to finding Mauro. I'm with you, Nina. He needs to come back.
Kelly
I like the idea of the dulce girl rushing home to tell La Curandera about Mauro. It's possible she saw the flyer with Mauro's picture, but I thought La C lived near Cecy.
Lots of material for speculation.
All I could do is just reproduce those quotes. I am chilled by both possibilities! I just REALLY hope that they're just scaring us with Uli and Ceci's sick plans and they never get their crazy/evil hands on ANYbody!
when dr. guapos maid rushed between flav and herbby, maybe shes the daughter of the curandera, and maybe she went home to help take care of mauro.wishful thinking on my part people.
Nina, that's brilliant and it would be perfect! Oh, I'm just so excited for Monday to come as well!!
I hope she is somehow connected to the Curandera vs. Uli. The authorities need to put an award out for Uli's capture that trumps whatever chump change he's paying people to spy!
Hey, Kelly. All I can remember is that Uli's spy told him the house was being watched by the police so he couldn't go back.
As for the coffee, even though al the plants were not affected by the plague, there is no way the Montesinos would touch any of Uli's coffee for their product. Can you imagine? Even if they managed to find enough unadulterated coffee and word got out that it came from a finca with the plague! Gosh! That would fry the Montesino reputation in the coffee and business world. I'm thinking the Montesino ethics would never allow them to use coffee from Uli's plantation. They would rather tell people up front that they're using imported coffee but it will be 100% processed in Mexico. In fact, this is their plan.
Nina!
Remember when El P. folks HAD to buy coffee from El D? Flavia realized they were 1) shorting El P. on the weight and 2) selling them inferior beans and now 3)a plantation infected with the plague. I don't think they will want to buy coffee from El D even if it was the last place in Chiapas with unsold coffee.
Ok, on to Kelly's recap, yum, yum.
1) Uli hiring Dulce girl to spy on the doctor--but then I don't think he knows of any connection between the doc and El P.--JUST YET. Wait until he does; and
2) yes, Uli is not beneath harming Valeria to get at Mariana. He probably plans to pressure Amaya to give up Mariana in order to save Vale--it has been done before in another tn.
Floridia--You are correct, Curandera worked WUN. But it seems as though lately it is taking less and less time to go back and forth between the two. Remember how Mariana thought the separation was going to be too much for them and then there was the loooooonnnngggg ride on the bus to La Tormenta? Then she drives him back in no time to help him save Mariana the first time.
As for Dulce being in a hurry, I think I go with Nina!'s prognosis that she or someone in her immediate circle has an amnesiac Mauro and by not looking at the photos, missed the opportunity to get him found.
Amnesia or a coma are the only ways to keep Mauro alive, but not allowing him to contact his family.
Dulce is right there in downtown Comitan and Mauro was last seen sweeping down the river toward the waterfalls and the open sea (segun the Police Commander). He'd have to be floating upstream to end up near the Curandera.
So, are we going to spend episodes with Mauro becoming George of the Jungle as Big Ed Y did in FELS?
So, are we back at square ONE on the bingo card on how Mauro is going to be found and if Dulce figures into all this?
About the Consta-Sal convo. It was so obvious Consta was very uncomfortable by Sal's wishing the child was his and her very firm denial of same--maybe I'm reading more into her demeanor. I think we're all on the same page now--that baby is not Max's.
Whatever happens in the end, unless Sal takes his baby to raise by himself, Max would want to make sure that child has financial support. He's been part of that child's development all along. Tn's dote on the bonding between fathers and unborn and recently born babies, even when they find out the baby is not theirs. Anyway, Max will do the right THING (although I wonder what Amaya will do if they are together--she wasn't too keen on raising Consta and Max's baby when Consta first got pregnant).
Never, never apologize for a recap. As Lila says, we all have different styles and different approaches. If you can get it done in a shorter time, I raise a glass and clap hands--with envy.
Hey, Anita! Gosh, that was the weirdest turn in a tn! Hilarious! Gosh, no, please don't let them get ridiculous at the end though I know you're joking!
Nina is right, this IS fun trying to guess what will happen. Darn these novelas making me want to rush through my weekend. Hmmm, must say something about the state of my life! ;p
Vivi! Hope you had a good time but can't wait for you to catch up on this exciting week with the Montesinos and friends!
Have been MIA for a few days (don't you just hate it when real life gets in the way of your tns?) - but I'm baaack! Had to catch up and, as always, the recaps have been superb. Thank you, oh mighty recappers.
Most everything has been said, so I'll just add a little something.
Max is with Constanza SOLELY because Amaya married Cesar. If she had simply broken up with him he would have never given up and would have worn her down eventually. He is not with Cons because she's having his baby or because he loves her. Max and Amaya are still very much in love with each other. And ALL THREE of them (Max, Cons and Amaya) know this ... make that all four, because Cesar knows this, too. This is why Constanza has turned into a human leech and won't even let Max breathe. She knows how quickly things have changed. And I'll bet subconsciously she KNOWS something happened between them while they were lost. She's terrified of losing him again.
Cesar does not love Amaya, by any means. His jealous, hissy fits have to do with the fact that he wants to be better than his brother at everything, so he sees having Amaya "prefer" him to Max is, as Charlie Sheen says, "winning." He is so arrogant and full of himself that he thought surely by now she would be head over heels in love with him and he can't stand the fact that she isn't. It doesn't even register that she hates his guts since he raped her. It's obvious he doesn't even give THAT horrible action a second thought.
Leila
Your points about the love web amongst the Montesinos is absolutely on target! Oh, that Connie! I strongly believe that Max is gong to enjoy being away from her, not because he plans to put moves on Amaya: he is wholly wrapped up in finding his beloved Papa, but Connie is just all up under him all the time and Max and Amaya do have a right to have a conversation without Connie! So much has happened that affects their business relationship!
No. I am not for a fatal anvil for Connie and don't want to repeat or quote myself but revealing that the true daddy is NOT Max AND she knew it and Max breaks up with her is a devastating anvil for Connie!
Nina!
Nina!--Cesar is fully capable of having sex without raping anyone--he just has to pay for it. He was getting angrier and more frustrated that Amaya wouldn't give in to him. Rape is always about power and domination and not love. He probably didn't think he did anything wrong--until Mommie Dearest, of all people, pointed out how he shouldn't have forced himself on Amaya.
But I agree with you that Luce is the one that screwed him up by making him a mamma's boy, through and through.
Earlier someone said Luce is demented enough to do away with Cesar to get what she wants. I don't think that's entirely possible. She's done all this to establish a dynasty of HER blood, not Mauro's, so Cesar is necessary to her Mis Planes. She wanted him to marry, but not Amaya (because of her relationship to Florencia), but he has avoided marriage until, as Leila said, he HAD to best his brother in everything.
Until Monday Lila and everybody else. Hope Vivi is back to contribute her wisdom.
Mauro is alive
Cesar is exposed as NOT being a Montesinos
Mauro's first born male child is alive and well: Marco Antonio Linares
I know they'll have to do tests or whatever but it will be shown to be true
Oh, this is going to be GOOD!
Welcome, Sara! See you later in comments!
Uli's spy, the passport guy, seems to know a great deal. He would probably know that Dr. Guapo attended the funeral for Cippy, and that he had established a rather close relationship to Mariana in a very short time.
But I am wondering how Cecy knows that Valerie is not around and why it was important to tell Uli of same.
With Vale in the states, I don't know why she was even mentioned! That is very disquieting. It would be way too much of a stretch for Uli to go to the states, find Vale and get past whatever precautions and security their is for all the kids in the intercambio, kidnap her and hold her in exchange for Mariana.
That sounds silly even as I type it!
Maybe it was just to show how ruthless and evil he and Ceci are.
Now. Ceci and Uli. That's who I would like to see die in an automobile crash!
Nina!
Nina, I don't think that would mean diddley squat to those two evil boneheads: Uli saw them kissing outside his hotel window and Ceci saw their reunion and how loving Ivan was even when he didn't totally remember her: All of this made them even more determined to separate them! Even knowing she's having their baby doesn't mean a darned thing. They don't love Ivan and Mariana and they don't love each other and they don't give a fig for their or anyone else's agri-business either.
They are useless and evil and need to die!
Cassandra G.
Nina!
My travels with my friends focused on the Yucatan Peninsula and Central Mexico. The cenotes and Mayan ruins of the Yucatan were beautiful and are not to be missed! In the central heart of Mexico, most of you already know that San Miguel de Allende is a beautiful town, half populated by foreigners. But during these Easter holidays, it was mostly filled with vacationing Mexican families, which was wonderful to behold and to be a part of. Taxco is also well known for its impressive hillsides and silver jewelry, and lives up to its reputation. But my favorite of these central Mexican hillside towns/cities was Guanajuato. Absolutely gorgeous and charming! It’s definitely on my re-visit list.
What is she planning to do, put him in a glass case and look at him every day?
Anita- You are definitely welcome to come with me next time. :)
Uncanny! Seriously, look at #44 of Vivi's pictures!
Anywho! Can't wait for you to catch up and join the fray, Girl. This show is off the chain!
********
Nina! Hahahahaha! Yes, it's good this is just a telenovela and I release a lot of pent up frustration watching these things among other benefits but Anita gives me another reason why. . .
Ceci must DIE!!
Muwahahhahahahaha!
She's also good at getting rid of loose ends (Delores, etc.,).
Nina! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
Both your questions have been answered on this blog.
We've known about the Caro switch for some weeks. We just didn't know which episode it was going to be.
We guessed Amaya's brother had not died when Dr. Guapo walked into the clinic. It was confirmed this past week when his family arrived from Guatemala. He's looking for his bio-parents.
Both Mauro and Amaya think the baby boy that Mauro and Florencia had together died a few days after birth and was buried. Both of them saw the tomb. They don't know it was empty.
That's one of the things left for Mauro--WHEN he comes back--to discover.
Nina! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
Whoever called him a momma's boy was right: he's been coddled, spoiled, hostile & very sadistic.
