Looking forward to it, Jarifa. This was a sad episode, but also a funny one.

Can't wait to watch it! Glad to hear the sad was tempered with some funny.

Capítulo 28 5/6/15. "Truth and Consequences"

Part 1

Back in the kitchen where we left off: Granny Perpétua opens the manila envelope with the photos but does not want to show the photos to María. Her very shocked expression makes María snatch them and see Facundo and Isabel together surprised in bed. María starts shouting and crying. She does not understand. How could Facundo do this to her? Granny tells her that her father did the same to her a thousand times and that men are something else. María thought Facundo was different. According to Granny, it isn't all Facundo's fault. That piggy
neighbor is also to blame. María says that She has been after Facundo ever since they arrived. Granny wants to make her some tea. María has another idea. Facundo and that woman are wrong if they think they are going to make a fool out of her. And she is off.

Outside on the lawn between the Carmona snd the Velasco houses, Isabel is moaning about the ranch smells and has a can of depdorant spray she is using to get rid of them. Her spraying starts when María calls her by name and an old wretch and that she knows she has been messing with her husband. Granny is physically trying to hold her back but María breaks free and chases Isabela into her house. She pounds on the doors calling Isabel nervy and a husband stealer.

Inside, Isabel is cowering bringing Conchita up to date. María is going to try to kill her and the whole family. There is silence but Isabel can feel María's breath behind her head she is so close. It is Conchita's breath but María is close. Granny tries to stop María by telling her they could throw her in jail but María can't be stopped and launches a secret attack. She sneaks into Isabel's house through the back and grabs Isabel by the hair, swings her around and drags her out of the house.

The fight continues outside. Isabel manages to get away. María has the upper hand as she chases Isabel until she can grab her by the hair again.

Part 2

Just at that moment, Facundo, Beto and Felipe arrive and they try to break up the fight. Maria has dragged Isabel down onto the ground. They finally manage to separate them with Facundo asking Isabel. "Neighbor, are you okay?" as he helps her up. María bellows "Let her go!" and he drops Isabel like a sack of potatoes. María screams at Facundo how could he betray her with that woman. He wants to explain and reaches out and her only response is "Don't touch me!" Isabel is whining and rubbing her head.

Inside the Carmona house, Carmen knows something is bothering Jacinto and asks him what. He wants to make sure she is not going to make fun of him before he tells her: he wants to know how he would know if he likes a girl. He knows nothing about girls. She asks if when he sees her does he have butterflies in his stomach, does he make half dead lamb eyes at her? Their conversation is interrupted by Carmen hearing María screaming outside. She tells Jacinto to stay in his room and goes out to investigate.

Facundo is trying to keep María away from Isabel who is being protected by Felipe and Conchita. María is crazy mad and almost cannot be stopped. Isabel wants to talk without hitting. Facundo wants to go into his own house and explain things. María is not interested in talking after seeing his photo with that thing. Carmen arrives on the scene and adds fuel to the fire by confronting Facundo and Beto and saying she just knew they were in cahoots with each other. Granny breaks it all up. Beto and Rocío are thinking the same thing: that with this situation with their families, their love is forbidden. Facindo wants to talk to Beto but he cannot stand to talk to Facundo, so he just shakes his head and leaves. Facundo is left alone praying and begging God not to let him Facundo destroy his family.

Susana has heard the commotion and goes to Jacinto's room to see what is up. He said Carmen told him to stay there. She says well that is because he is a baby but she is older. Jacinto then complains how she ratted him and his feelings out to Alejandra; how she made fun of him. Eventhough he forgives her, he is never going back to that school again.

María is in the house crying with Granny. Facundo comes in and wants to explain. María screams "No!".

Part 3

Granny stands in between María and Facundo. Carmen again says she knew Facundo and Beto were hiding something but she never had imagined this. How could he do this to her mother? Facundo refocuses on María and tells her he does not remember what happened. She tells him to keep away. Carmen tells Facundo to let her mother in peace. Beto tells her to stop meddling because she does not know what she is talking about. Carmen accuses Beto of knowing and not telling María. María confronts him, realizes that that is the truth and is even more crushed.
Carmen tells Facundo there is no excuse for what he did, she can't take any more so she is excusing herself going to study for a test. María is sobbing and Grandpappy Porfirio appears to ask what is going on. Granny tells him not to get involved because his son is just as immoral as he is. Facundo is left ashamed and apologizing to Porfirio. Profirio's response is a piece of serious advice "One cannot fall into traps."

Off to Estefany's apartment where she with a glass of wine is musing over Facundo and how much fun it would be to conquer him and take all of his money with who ever can make it happen for her. The door slamming shut informs her that Santiago with his trusty key had opened the door and overheard her talking to herself. He says he heard her talking to herself.

At the Velasco's, Felipe and Comchita bring Isabel in. Rocío brings up the rear. Isabel wants to call the police. Rocío cannot believe how nervy she would be to do that since she Isabel caused the problem herself. They get into it with Isabel telling her like it or not she is the mother she ended up with and Rocío telling her she should act like a mother for once. Felipe asks Conchita to leave and also tells Isabel what she did was shameful and horrible. Isabel pits him in the same class as Rocío. Everyone is against her. Where is Santiago?

Back at the apartment, Santiago wants to know Estefany's end game. He knows what he overheard. He knows she wasn 't talking about him in her last statement. She lays it on thick telling him her only goal is to have him love her like back in the University days. He does not believe her one bit and tells her to show him. He saw her how she couldn't keep her eyes off that stinky peasant. He is not going to let that cactus cleaner take one woman away from him let alone two. He feels that Facundo wants to take away Isabel,. Estefany would never change Santiago for a stinky illiterate peasant like Facundo. Sanriago has always been her only love. Santiago smiles smugly.

Part 4

Back at the Velasco's, Isabel is still asking where Santiago is. She feels he should be there; show his face but he is hiding like a rat. Isabel goes on to say she never should had paid attention to what Santiago asked her to do (seduce Facundo). Felipe can't take it and tells her he told them it was a stupid thing to do. Isabel says she did it for the family so they wouldn't all end up on the street. She doesn't care about the marriage of those rancher neighbors. Rocío and Felipe cannot believe her selfishness. Felipe asks if she ever thought about Ale her own daughter. She tells them she is very upset and if they are going to keep saying things and not support her, just to go. They do. Isabel picks up a photo of Santiago. "It is your fault, Facundo, yours." She realizes her mistake, thinks she is going crazy and just keeps repeating "Facundo" and asks why he ever came into her life.

Estefany and Santiago are reminscing and having a fine old time in bed when he pops off to bathe. Estefany is left alone between the sheets to contemplate that Isabel also wants something with the rancher. Let's see who gets him. Divide and conquer says Machiavelli. Her prize will be making Isabel angry. Too bad for Esteban because she now has started her own plans.

Back at the Carmona household, Facundo goes into the bedroom where María is packing. He still wants to talk. She is not interested. She will never forgive him. He only has eyes for her. Facundo is crying saying he remembers nothing. There are no excuses. He was drunk. She slaps him. She is not buying that. He asks her what she wants. He will give her anything for her not to leave. Her conditions: get their money back from tnat dirty company, then go back to live in the country, then she'll see.

Facundo says gettimg their money back is not so easy. She has no idea. She asks who took the photos.he says Samtiago amd tells jer avout the blackmail scheme. It is all clear to María: Santiago and Isabel got together to cheat them. Facundo(not real smart here--my comment) says Isabel really had nothing to do with the plot. María slaps him a good one again. How can he defend her? Did he fall in love with her. María wants an answer.

At the Velasco house, Isabel is crying on her bed as Santiago comes in and wants to know what happened because her hair is all undone. She throws pillows at him and tells him she had the worst day of her life due to him and how María hit her like a crazy savage. Eternally optimistic Santiago says "but it all came out okay, right?" She screams back "according to what?"

Back at the Carmona master bedroom, Facundo swears there is nothing between him and Isabel. María does not know how he would expect her to believe him when she told him to stay away from Isabel. It was all the same to him. He knows her conditions. She cannot stay after what he did. She feels betrayed, hurt and her heart is broken.

Part 5

Back at rhe Velasco house, Isabel is retelling the tale of the attack to a nonsympathetic Santiago. He wishes he could have seen it. He doesn't think her beating was as bad as the scandal of him getting punched by Facundo at work. Those savage ranchers will leave. Isabel says that she'll give him a brusie on the other cheek if they don't so at least he will be symmetrical. He tells her that Licenciado Santiago Velasco does not turn the other cheek. He also accuses Isabel of not wanting Facundo to go and tells her to look him in the eyes and tell him she feels nothing for that "dog rider" Facundo. She denies she feels anything for him.
Santiago does not believe her. He leaves and Isabel is left asking herself if she really wants something with Facundo.

Conchita is talking to herself in the living room about how strange things are in the house. Much of it centers on Santiago playing for the other team after the cell phone message she read in yesterday's episodes. Much of the scene was bleeped.

Carmen is crying in her car at the University. Diego joins her in her car and tries to comfort her about her family situation after she tells him what is going on. Felipe sees this and tells Carmen he wants to talk to her. She says she doesn't want to and a scuffle breaks out between the two guys. Carmen breaks them up and Felipe tells her that the only reason Diego is showing her any attention is that it was a Francis plan for Diego to get back at Beto and make fun of her.

Grandpappy Porfirio asks granny Perpétua when someone is going to cook some hardboiled eggs today anyway. Granny says they aren't up for cooking them today with his son and María arguing. Porfirio reminisces about his own wife and how they argued many times but the best part was them making up afterward. She has been gone many years but he remembers her like yesterday. Jacinto is shaking and worrying about his parents fighting. Granny consoles him and she and grandpappy and all the kids are off to the kitchen for a treat of homemade French fries.

Part 6

The kids and the grandparents are enjoying their french fries. Grandpappy is done with his and stealing more off the kids's plates. When Beto comes in, Jacinto starts in with his not wanting to go back to that school because of Susana teasing him. María comes in and overhears and wants to know what the story is.

We end up with Facundo going to see Santiago at his home. Santiago is standing on a staircase looking down at Facundo welcoming with a smile to this his house. Facundo tells him that he Santiago got his way. Santiago knows that. Facundo tells him he is a bigger SOB than he thought. Santiago still smiling and thanks him. Facundo asks why he sent the photos to María. Santiago sent them because he said he would if Facundo continued provoking him. Facundo decides it is not worth fighting with him. Santiago asks why he came. What Facundo wants is to go back to the country and get his money back, every cent. Santiago agrees it is good for them to go back to the country because they were never going to fit in anyway but he won't be seeing one red cent of the money. Didn't he read the fine print? He probably didn't read it because he probably does not know how to read. His money has been invested. There are no returns. Facundo tells him his niece Rocío was right: Santiago is learned but all in all is just a common thief. Santiago prefers to call himself a business man something that is way beyond Facundo's mediocre capability to understand. Facundo repeats he is going to return to the country to save his family and Santiago will return his momey. Santiago reminds him this is what happens when you get involved with other women. Who forced him to get involved with his wife? The long and the short of it is Facundo should just say goodbye to his money because he is never going to see it again.

The conversation continues tomorrow.

El Fin

Jarifa

The episode was not up on Hulu this morning. Thank heaven for this fine, detailed recap. Muchísimas gracias, Jarifa!

Well this is a sad turn of events. Despite his womanizing ways, I do not like Santi talking down to Fac.

Great action packed episode but very sad and melancolic in parts.

I loved that María took the fight to Isabel. The best was her sneak attack when Isabel thought she was safe in her own house. It was wonderful to see María swinging Isabel around by the hair.

Poor Beto with María finding out that knew about the photos but did not tell her. It really was not his place to tell her. The blame goes on less than honest Facundo for this rift.

Ironic that Facundo who was boasting he had never been tricked/taken advantage of in the countryside fell so quickly. The old pride/hubris theme.

Santiago looked very devilish to me as he is smiling less and trying to suppress his anger more especially in the scene with Facundo.

Looks like tonight's episode will be the second part of this one.

That is all for now.

Jarifa

This probably speaks to my lack of character, but I really want to see Maria wallop Isa. I hope the episode is up this afternoon!

Well, my character is lacking right along with yours. María's attack was praiseworthy. You will love it.

Jarifa

Thanks, Jarifa! You really did this episode justice, both the funny and sad parts.

My biggest laugh out loud moment was when Fac helped Isa up, and then dropped her back on her backside to the ground like a hot potato when Maria yelled to let her go. LOL! The sneak attack inside the house was also awesome.

But so sad to see Maria heartbroken, and to see the family so discombobulated.

I thought it was nice of Susana to apologize to Jacinto and to admit that big siblings also make mistakes. I also like the talks he had with Carmen and Diego. The problem is that each of these conversations kept getting interrupted and cut off, but grown folk stuff. Poor Jacinto never got to finish expressing what he was feeling.

Looks like Diego was truly being sincere and caring with Carmen. Even sharing with her that his own father had cheated on his mother many times, hence the divorce. Also interesting to learn that Maria's dad cheated on her mom Perpetua a lot. That may also explain her deep feelings of betrayal and hurt.

Correction: I also like the talks he had with Carmen and Beto (not Diego).

Vivi, yes, the reaction of Facundo dropping Isabel was the best. So funny because It was such a visceral and automatic reaction to Marìa's command.

Jarifa

Wonderful recap!

The sneak attack had me laugh out loud. But I was disappointed FF&B showed up so quickly. I wanted Maria to get a few good wallops in!

Diego did look sincere and maybe he is truly falling for Carmen. After what Feli said it will take him some work to win back her trust. Is he man enough to do it?

I really want Fac to get his money back but I'm not sure how. Instead of hanging around the office, only redecorating, he should be out at the construction site, learning.

I understand the animated barn animals but what's up with the dinosaur? lol

Jarifa, absolutely fabulous recap.

I too loved Maria's sneak attack and out on the lawn swinging Isa around by the hair. I confess to replaying Isa's pummeling several times. My character is muy mal.

I was so ticked at Facundo for protesting to Maria that oh no Isa had nothing to do with setting him up. Isa has played on his guilt well.

I never expected practically the whole family (except for Susana and Jacinto) to find out about Facundo's "cheating." Maria's hurt is bad enough, but his kids are so disillusioned with their dad. But I did love Perpetua and Carmen forming a human shield to protect Maria from Facundo, though it was sad.

Yay, Santi is onto Estefany's game. Boo, he's still horny enough to bed her. So is she still going to try to get pregnant by Santi now that she's got Facundo in her sights?

I'm hoping Santi was snipped so Estefy doesn't get pregnant. I think it would be funny if she keeps trying and nothing happens.

Not sure where Alejandra was, but I'm glad she wasn't around. She's going to be so sad when she learns what's been going on.

Having Perpetua and Porfirio around makes a good case for multi-generational families. They were able to fill in and take care of the kids' emotional needs while Maria and Fac are too broken to do it.

Carvivlie said:

I understand the animated barn animals but what's up with the dinosaur? lol

I'm still bitter about the loss of the animated piglet at the end. I hate that dinosaur. Right now it is my only complaint about the show.

Also from Carvivlie:

I'm hoping Santi was snipped so Estefy doesn't get pregnant. I think it would be funny if she keeps trying and nothing happens.

That would be hysterical!

Shall we dub this the patio of Mal Caracter? LOL. Seems there are several of us who enjoy a good cat fight.

The episode is finally available on Hulu, but alas I have to wait until this afternoon to watch.

Only caught a little bit last night. Isa was in the bedroom and I heard the words "Facundo" and "hijo". Tell me she is not going to fake a pregnancy!!!

Sara: You can count me in for the "mal caracter table".

Nanette- I didn't hear anything about hijo, or anything in the context of faking a pregnancy, so I don't think you have to worry about that.

Sara, I love the idea of the "Patio de mal caracter". Save me a lounge chair.

Carvivlie, I too was disappointed that the fight was broken up so early. It would have been fun to see Maria inflict a few more swing arounds/take downs by Maria.

Niecie, I agree that it was pretty ugly for all concerned that nearly everybody in the family is now aware of Facundo's supposed cheating. I also don't like that Facundo found it necessary to defend Isabel in the face of Maria being in such pain. It always semes he has a soft spot for her. it is annoying. Maria did say for him to stay away from Isabela and if he had, there never would have been the opportunity to frame him.

I sort of liked the dinosaur. He grabbed my attention.

Looks like another live one tonight!

Jarifa

Ok, Jarifa. We've got one vote for the dinosaur. I'll stop whining about him. :-)

But I really liked that little pig.

It would be kind of neat if they change things up during the run of the show. Dinosaur now, something different later.

Though I didn't see the episode, I did groan when I read the part about Facundo asking "Are you ok Vecina?" I mean, I guess he was just trying to be nice, but...ugh. It's that soft spot you mentioned Jarifa. I just don't think it's cool at all.

Sara, those "soft spots" can be innocent or indicative of something else. I hope it is the former but we are in novela land. Hope you enjoy the episode as much as I did when you get to see it.

Jarifa

Thank you Vivi!!!

Between helping Isa up, and then coming to her defense and saying she wasn't part of the plot, Facundo wasn't just skating on thin ice with Maria-- he had fallen through and was sinking fast.

And I'm still ticked that Maria doesn't know that Isa ratted her out to Facundo about the fashion. Facundo is lucky Maria is even talking to him.

Wow, Jarifa, your recap is spot on!

The funniest part was definitely Facundo dropping Isa like a hot potato.
Love the little donkey!

Denise

Recap for #29 will be up later tonight/early a.m. tomorrow. :)

Jarifa

Thanks Jarifa!!

Capítulo 29 5/7/15. Truth and Consequences II

Part 1

We return to where we left off with Facundo and Santiago still talking at the Velasco residence. Facundo is telling Santiago how affected, handsome and elegant he is but it turns out anyway that he is a vile vulture. Santiago returns the insult by saying Facundo is from the 4th world and is just flith. Facundo pops back with that can't be so because he takes a bath everyday. Facundo says that Santiago will return his money. He knows Santiago"s game: trying to get him angry so he'll fight and lose sight of the money. Santiago comes back with that he is a busy man with places to go. Facundo insists he will return his money. Santiago had better get used to it because his troubles have just begun. Facundo leaves.

In the Carmona kitchen María asks Jacinto about him not wanting to go nack to school. He's fed up with it.
She has had it with all of their foolishness. Ever since they got to the city they habe done whatever they felt like and she is ending that now. Jacinto wants to explain but she is in no mood. Jacinto is going to school period. She tells him to go and work on his homework. Right now. Beto tries to stand up for Jacinto by saying Jacinto has a problem that is important to him. María counters with the only problem they have is as a family and she is putting an end to the disorder in their lives. Beto then makes a big mistake telling his mother that he is sorry to say that she is making a big mistake the way she is handling things. That is it for him. María lets him have it telling him he has nothing to say being his dad's co conspirator. He doesn't even study. He always wanted to follow in his dad's footsteps but at what price? Beto says he knows she is hurt but when she calms down she will ser this is not the way to handle things. He is out of there.Granny Perpétua tells María that Beto was right. María cries. María says no she is not going to change her mind. Grandpappy Porfirio decides he is going to impose order and discipline and the first thing he does is declare that everyone will be eating hardboiled eggs and sometimes chicken. Granny tells him he just talks to talk.

Carmen, Felipe amd Diego are still talking at the University and Carmen asks Diego if Felipe is telling the truth when he says Diego was just trying to hook up with Carmen to get back at Beto and make fun of her at Francis's request. Diego wants to talk to Carmen in private but Francis, who has been listening with a crowd, blurts out it is true and calls Carmen a slut at least three ways (ofrecida/arrastrada/zorra) . Carmen gives it right back to the "fresa resentida" ( bitter stuck up rich girl) topping it off with describing Francis as being rotten on the inside and telling her that is why nobody likes her. Francis is not impressed. Diego says it was like that back in the beginning, but no longer. He feels something for her. He wants to explain to her. Carmen says she never wants him to talk to her again. She leaves.

Rocío is at home at the bar pouring herself a drink and thinking of Beto and their impossible love.

Part 2

Beto goes to talk to Jacinto in his room and gives him a pep talk : he tells him to remember he is a Carmona and that the Carmonas never give up. They face things. That is what he has to do. Jacinto says that he wants to be like Beto. He is the best of the Carmona siblings. Beto doesn't go to school. Beto tells Jacinto he wishes he were more like him. Mom is right. He has to study. Jacinto can always count on him. That is what older brothers are for.

Isabel is still in her bed thinking and talking to herself about Facundo. She has a hallucination of a rooster crowing, screams and Santiago comes in to see what is going on. He thinks she screamed just to get him in her room. he tells her that Facundo the "dog rider" was just there demanding his money back. He tells her to not look like she does; at least pretend. One can tell from leagues away she feels something for that rancher. Isabel tells Santiago what really matters is what she feels for him and she hates him. Her falling for Facundo was not part of the plan. Since she forced Facundo into her heart, he wants her to force him out of her heart. Santiago grabs her head and looks very angry. He repeats to her what she said to him several episodes ago: you do not want me for an enemy. He leaves and Isabel is back thinking how she'd fall in love with a ranchero. Then she's thinking about Facundo. She is messed up.

Back at the Carmona's house, María is crying with her head on her mother's lap. Granny is trying to soothe her. María says she has a headache because the horns are weighing down on her head (poner los cuernos-to be unfaithful to a lover). Granny tells María to think about what Facundo said. María does not know if she can forgive Facundo. Granny thinks Facundo is a man who deserves a second chance. He loves her.

Facundo comes in and tells them there is no way for him to get out of the contract. He admits he did that when he signed the partnership agreement. María can't believe he did that. She can't hear or see him anymore. She tells him to leave the room.

Part 3

Facundo is out talking with his horse when Granny comes out and talks to him. She talks to him more like a mother than mother in law. He tries to explain things to her. She says she does not need any explanations because she knows him;but on the other hand men will be men . . . Facundo promises her that what happened will never happen again. She tells him he has to fix the blockheaded thing he did. He is desperate on his knees like a little kid with his arms around her. Granny tries to comfort him. She tells him to do what María is asking and try to fix things so they can get back to the country because things are very ugly here in the city. Granny will help him however she can. She will work on softening up María so that she will understand and forgive him. He thanks Granny for everything he loves María. Granny knows. It hurts her to see him cry.

At the Velasco's Santiago finds Rocío with the bottle and her head down crying. He wants to know if she is okay. Why is she drinking at this time? Her response: maybe because her family is going to hell. She wants to be left alone so she can go out. He holds her and tried to console her. The reason she is like she is is that her parents/aunt and uncle/whatever they are are a fiasco. She is out of there. Santiago pours himself and swears that Facundo will not destroy him or his family

Rocío goes over to the Carmona's to talk to Beto. Beto asks: Now problems are solved with alcohol? She tells him not to criticize her. He says he just talked to his bro about facing problems. For her drinking is fun. She has a lot of time on her hands. He tells her to stop acting like a spoiled child. If she is so bored she could study. She thows it back at him saying look who is talking: the star student. She tells him they are not mthat different. He just needs to get rid of his superior attitude. She made a mistake coming by. She didn't know she was going to get judged. She is off.

Jacinto is telling his burrito secrets. They say he is super gifted at school. Yeah, he is supergifted in the area of problems ever since he came to the city. The burro has a super smart face so he is going to teach him things that will make him impress everybody. Nobody will make fun of him if he "wets" because he can urinate any where. Grandpappy is listening and chuckling.

Part 4

Grandpappy tells Jacinto he has nothing to be ashamed of. He has seen grown men wet themselves on the battlefield. Nothing to be ashamed of. Jacinto is brave, he goes to,school, fulfills his family duties, so he can hold his head high lke the bigshot soldiers fighting for Pancho Villa. He needs to be proud of who he is, where he is from and where he is going. And Jacinto is going to go far. Jacinto asks him if he ever wet himself on the battlefield. Grandpappy answers sure there is a huge book from somewhere or other by someone or other where it says "He who is free of never having wet their pants, let them be the first to take their ****out". They both laugh.

Beto finds the photos outside in the trash and brings them over to the Velasco house. Rocío comes to the door. He apologizes for being judgmental. He shows her the photos and asks how his dad got with her aunt. He knows his dad and that is something he would not do. He said he hadn't even drank that much. Rocío agrees it is all really strange. She thinks she recognizes the hotel. It is not that far away and she shows him the logo in the background. Santiago appears and orders her into the house. Inside she asks why? He says he does not want her with Beto. He wants the photos. He does not want any more problems with the neighbors. He is worried about her. She does not want to talk to him and goes to her room with the photos.

Dinner at the Velasco house. Alejandra is back from her friend's Mimi's house and is wondering what happened while she was gone because they all are so quiet. Isabel said nothing happened. Santiago makes a demand on everyone that they no longer be in contact with the Carmona's. rocío being sarcastic starts calling him the "patrón" (the master). He calls himself the same. Isabel calls him the same. Alejandra is very upset because Susana is her best friend and she will not be giving up Susana. Alejandra defies her father and goes to her room. Rocío tells Isabel and Santiago that respect is something that is earned and they have not done that. She leaves the table too. Santi calls her back. She comes back answering ¿qué? He is not pleased. She will respect him. Next time he wants to hear ¿mande?.

Carmen is missing again. Facundo cannot get her on the phone. Felipe shows up to see her and he is able to get her on her phone which calms down the Carmona household. Facundo is just happy she is okay.

Rocío is comforting Alejandra after the Santiago "no Carmona fraternization" proclamation. Rocío says she will always be there for her. Santiago knocks at the door to talk to Alejandra but there is no answer.

Santiago and Isabel have a talk a out how dangerous it is for Beto and Rocío to hang around together. What if they find out that nothing did happen between Facundo and Isabel? That would be a problem. They cannot let Rocío see Beto. Santiago says he has been thinking about Rocío. He thinks he has a solution but will need Isabel's support. Isabel says she will be patient and not lose it with Rocío.

Facundo (my comment: not being too smart) goes to María's room that night and she has to tell him he is not sleeping in her bed. They have never slept apart. She does not want him in her bed. He ruined their life. So he should go and live his life. She will pick up the pieces of her heart and live her life,

Felipe goes out and meets Carmen who is sitting under a tree. She is crying regretting she ever insisted on coming to the city. Her family is being destroyed. It is hard for him, too. He tells her he lies her as more than a friend. He couldn't tell her earlier because he was not sure. He knew it was her he kissed in the dark. For Carmen it is a no go because of what his aunt Isabel did with her father.

Part 5

Facundo tries to sleep on the floor in front of the fireplace.

Isabela and Santiago want to talk to Rocío. She is not interested. It is a major deal for her to take out her ear buds to listen to them. She is at her resistant best. Santiago tells her that her situation cannot go on as it is. They have made an appointment for her with Isabel's old psychiatrist. It is not family therapy. This is not because they think she is crazy but becuase the psychiatrist will help her get in touch with her feelings. She is reminded that at the present time she doesn't work, she does not study, she does absolutley nothing except drink and go out. Sometimes she comes home in the mornings, sometimes she doesn't.They are there to support her. She says she is not going but Santiago tells her to imagine her parents in heaven and what would they say about her current situation. Isabel is having a hard time keeping her cool even as Santiago seems to be making progress with Rocío. Isabela then brings up the rancher (Beto) from across the way that Rocío is obsessed with. Rocío asks if that is the real problem because "rancher" and "obsession" could apply to her Isabel. Isabel takes offense. They have an appointment tomorrow at 10:00.

Facundo is having a hard time sleeping because Carmen is not home yet and then the situation with María. What is he going to do? He needs an opportunity to fix what he broke. If not he will die of the pain in his heart.

Amazing job, Jarifa! You captured all the sweet and sad moments so well.

That conversation between Rocio and Beto gave me hope that those two will figure out what really happened, and soon. Having time on their hands might be a good thing in this case.

And although they are clearly taking no responsibility for the mess they are making in their family and the Carmonas, I think Isa and Santi's suggestion that Rocio see a psychologist is a good one. She's clearly been hurting for a long time. Long before the point where the tn started.

Vivi, I so agree about Rocío. Her alcohol use alone is scary. I just worry about Isabel's motivation. It should be interesting as Rocío and Beto solve the mystery.

Good morning my fellow Mal Carácter peeps!

Starting the day with a migraine and still an episode behind. I did make time for the cat fight. Very glad I did.

Can't wait to read your recap of last night's events, Jarifa! Thank you so much!

Commentary for Part 1
Poor Jacinto! He just needs some quality time and no one seems to have any for him. Beto tried, but Maria was too wrapped up in her hurt.

"...and calls Carmen a slut at least three ways (ofrecida/arrastrada/zorra)..."

I love slut vocab! Thank you! You can always count on an antagonist to use at least 2 different slut words in a diatribe!

Love this line: "She is at her resistant best."

Rocio is quite stubborn!

So did they say BOTH parents were dead? Why did I ever think the dad was still around?

Sara, I had the same feeling about Rocío's father as you but Santiago did refer to Rocío's parents as "tus padres que estén en la santa gloria". I had to play that one twice since it was not what I expected to hear.

Sometimes I have wondered how many words there are in Spanish for slut or whore. I probably should have kept a list over the years. Guess it is never too late to start one.

Hope the headache gets better!

Another great episode last night. My favorite scenes were María talking about the weight of the "cuernos" on her head and Porfirio building up Jacinto's confidence with his attention, stories and naughty joke.

Awesome recap!

I don't know if anyone else caught it, but it gives me some hope, that when Isa and Santi were talking to Rocio in her bedroom, when Isa left she told Santi "come mi amor". He hopped right after her calling her "Puchis" again. It may or may not have been planned on Isa's part, but this is the first time Isa has shown any type of affection for Santi. And boy did he go running like a dog for a bone after her.

Thanks Jarifa. I updated the list to reflect that both parents are dead.

Carvivlie-I will watch that part carefully this evening. Thanks for pointing it out.

Sara: Maybe I've been straining too hard, but I keep looking for signs that Isa cares for Santi. We know he does for her, even though her words and actions are pushing him to the edge. I just wish we knew what happened to Isa for her to completely turn and be pushing him away for 5 months. Though the kids did say they always fight a lot.

Carvivlie -

I noticed the "mi amor" and the "Puchis" also. It kind of warmed my heart. I don't know why. It's as if we care more about their relationship than they do.

Thanks, Jarifa!

Carvivlie, that is an interesting point about Isabel and
Santiago. You are right he certainly did go after her like a dog after a bone. Makes you wonder what the history of that whole marriage has been over time.

Jarifa

It seems that Santi has always been the one pursuing Isa. We've seen how he has begged, pleaded, and petted her so that she will be affectionate with him. If she shows even one bit of interest, he jumps. And when he thinks of Stefi or is with her, it's all about getting back at Isa for being so cold to him. It even took a few tries, and a few more fights with Isa, before he could do the deed with Stefi.

Santi said to himself at one point that he has been in love with Isa since he was 15. We know he and Stefi were dating in college and about to get married, and it seems that it didn't take much for him to dump her and take up with Isa. I'm guessing when Isa finally decided to pay him some attention. Stefi is all about showing Isa who is "more woman" and trying to steal Isa's men-- first Santi and now Facundo. I can see how her pride was wounded when Santi dumped her practically at the altar just because Isa wiggled her little finger at him.

Vivi, that is a very good anaysis of their relationship.. That is an interesting and valid point that you make that Santiago's amorous adventures with Estefany are controlled by how Isabel is being towards him. I agree that Estefany's pride was wounded being so abruptly dumped. You can still tell the animosity she feels towards Isabel. I think in Wed.'s episode, when Estefany was trying to convince the doubting Santiago of her love for him, she made a point of calling Isabel "common" and Santiago immedtiately told her to watch it with what she was saying. Also just more proof of what you saif about the love triangle: Isabel is still the "queen of the hill" in Santiago's eyes.

Fantastic recap, Jarifa! Still lost without these fantastic recaps from all the recappers.

I wonder about the background of Santi and Isa. Do they act so superior and call the Carmonas derogatory names because they originally come from snobby family wealth. Probably they're as nouveux rich as the Carmonas but foolishly squandered away their money with excesses. Still as horrible as Isa and Santi are, you can't help root for the best for them in the end but of course not at the expense of the Carmonas.

Oops, forgot to add my name.
