La Sombra del Pasado #68 5/21/15
Severiano(Sev) grabs Sim/Viv by the hair and drags her out to the street. He throws her out of the house and tells her never to come back. He tells her to go back to San Miguel or wherever the hell she wants to go. When she begs to at least be allowed to get her things. Sev reminds her that he paid for all her things. He throws money at her and tells her that all he pay for is her bus fare. (Now, I'm thinking this a pretty public scene. Are people in SL just so afraid of him that they wouldn't dare comment on it? This is perfect material for the gossip capital of the word, don't you think?) Sev gets in his truck and drives away, leaving Sim to snivel on the sidewalk.
Lola is surprised to see Irma at the shop. Irma felt she needed to keep busy so she wouldn't think about Abelardo. Irma knows that time will cure her pain...or she'll at least get accustomed to it. Lola tells her that her abuela always says: "Al borrego trasquilado, Diosito le mide el frío." (I can't easily find a quick translation, but basically God won't give you more than you can take. Literally to the sheared sheep, God takes considers the cold for him….He won't make it too cold for the sheared sheep. I'm sure there's some fascinating agricultural history behind it.) Irma asks about why Lola is there and when Lola explains about having to see someone, Irma convinces her to spill the beans. Irma seems shocked by the news Sim was actually Lola's mom.
RPC- Valeria(Val)l is at church trying to pray for Abelardo. She does not burst into flames. Darn. Padre Jeronimo(Padre J) counsels her that one doesn't need to know all the prayers, just talk to God like the loving father he is. Padre J even offers to let Val talk to him. She thinks this would be a bad idea considering her family doesn't get along with Padre J's family and she even manages to little dig at Aldonza. Again, she does not burst into flames. Padre J, the true class act, reminds her that in the church he's just a man of the cloth. Val unloads on Padre J about how sad she is and she doesn't understand it because Abelardo was nothing to her (still no fire OR brimstone.) Padre is concerned. Val seems very depressed and she really should ask her dad if some specialist could help her with that. Val has a near panic attack and gets up to leave. Padre is concerned. Val calls herself garbage.
RPC-Now that Flavia is gone, Joaquin wants to join Aldonza in her Mis Planes. He asks Adelina if that is ok. Adelina gives her stamp of approval. Joaquin also wants to bring Emanuel on board. Adelina likes that idea, too.
RPC-Pato, Silvia and Renato exhaust themselves supervising the movers. Pato works with the wiring. Shocking comedy relief (har har I'm so funny.) Slivia is going out to buy the linens (blancos.)
Pru goes to see Tomas and chide him about the serenata. Tomas insists he can't live without her. Their tryst is interrupted by his mother. They spring apart and Tomas carefully arranges pillows on his lap. Tomas's mother has been deeply affected by Abelardo's death. She has quit work in order to spend more time with Tomas. She knows as a mother, Pur understands. Not only has she quit work, but she would like to join Pru and Tomas for the bible study.
Val goes to the pharmacy.
Padre J goes to see Humberto(Hum), but he's not in his office. Padre will come back another time.
Val abuses the housekeeper and throws her out of her bedroom. The housekeeper reports Val's behavior to Pru. She is worried Val is going to try to kill herself again. Pru rushes upstairs. She pounds on the bathroom door. Val finally opens the door and tells Pru she's pregnant.
The Ministerio Publico investigates. He's at the bar Abelardo was known to frequent. He finds out from the barman that Abelardo and his buds were inclined to play cards and do some betting. He also finds out that they often fought and the head guy was Adriano. Oddly, the three guys haven't been around since Abelardo was shot. Hmmmm.
At first Pru is thrilled about Val's pregnancy...until she finds out it's Abelardo's child. Pru calls Val irresponsible. Hang on a minute, mujer. You are a virtual Rogelio's Thesaurus of Slut Vocab when it comes to Aldonza (not pregnant), but all Val (pregnant) gets is an "irresponable"? SL is so screwed up. The housekeeper announces the arrival of Candela. Pru tells Val to get her mierda together and come down and greet Candela. They will figure out what to do later. Pru walks away mumbling that the baby will probably be ugly. That really wasn't funny to me.
RPC- Adriano wants Flavia to ask Joaquin for some money. It's no surprise that she is very reluctant to do that. Adriano promises that as soon has he gets paid for his job, he will take care of Flavia like deserves. He'll even take care of little Ray...who isn't even his.
Cande updates Pru on Cris's case. Pru looks a little green at the mention of the anonymous tipster. Speaking of anonymous tipsters...Val makes her way downstairs. Cande wants to take her to the jail so she can see Cris. Val does not want to see Cris. And then Val loses her mierda. She tells Cande that she's very resentful of Cris right now. Because of him everything is ruined. He left her days before the wedding and made her the laughingstock (Caray favorite hazmerreír) of SL (not her fashion sense?) He traded Val for the expensive prostitute Aldonza (who, by the way is NOT pregnant. And IMO is still virginal.) Everything that happens to Val from now on will be Cris's fault.
RPC-Joaquin comes to tell Aldonza he wants to take her up on her business offer. She's thrilled and also agrees to adding Eman to the Mis Planes team. She explains to Joaquin that the first step is to get Sev's animals off the land.
RPC-Val mopes. Pru screeches. Again Val is told to get her mierda together and apologize to Cande. Val pitches a fit. Hm. I think there was more berating about not being careful, but I've already FFed and don't feel like rewinding. Rewinds are for confirming towel-clad galan status.
Sev talks to the police. Cande overhears and wants an update. There's no news. Cande reminds him that he said Cris would get out and Sev tells her it's not up to him. Cande can't stand that her son is locked up in jail. Sev tells her to look at the good side--in jail, Cris can't see Aldonza! Cande changes the subject. Was Sev able to speak to Sim about being married to Dom and Mel's son? Sev informs Cande that he and Sim are through. She's not surprised and assumes that he will have someone new warming his bed in no time. And then the argument about Cande not giving him an lovin' ensues. Honestly, their arguments bore the stew out of me. Sev is pretty sure that despite her sleeping alone like a nun, he's pretty sure she was on the verge of seeking him out a few times. He can't believe that in all these years Cande has never had the need to be with a man. She admits that maybe she has...but that man is not Sev. Sev wonders who it could be because to his knowledge, Cande didn't have any other lovers. Or has she. Cande sarcastically denies it, crosses herself and walks out. Not subtle, dummy. Sev looked to me like the wheels were turning and all the cylinders were firing.
I probably shouldn't but...RPC- Padre J goes to see Cris. He only got in because the SL respect the cloth. Padre wonders if Cris's parents know about his marriage. They don't. I think the point of this scene was to give Cris a chance to tell us how much he lurrves Aldonza and will do anything to defend their love. He'll defend her with his life. He'll die before they are apart. (Does this even scare Viewerville anymore?)
Joaquin and Aldonza go to see Renato about Mis Planes. Renato tells Silvia to show Aldonza the house while they go discuss Mis Planes. Renato doesn't know anything about crops and Joaquin doesn't know anything about business and administration. Joaquin thinks it's una mancuerna ideal(ideal team/ideal pair) Renato explains that the plan is for everyone to work at what they are best at. Joaquin confirms that Renato is putting up the initial capital. Renato says that eventually they will all be sharing the earnings equally. Joaquin hopes so. They both agree Eman should join the team. Renato thinks it's a good idea. Besides, who could say "no" to Aldonza? Joaquin wants to get started planned what they will plant. Renato thinks the first thing they need to do is get Sev's animals off the land and that will happen sooner than Joaquin thinks!
Sev is in fact meeting with the lawyer now and getting the news. The judge rejected their request to invalidate the rental contract. The land will go to Aldonza until the year is up. Sev even repeats "un año más." Soooo apparently no time has passed. Sev is not happy about having to get his animals off the land, but he'll not give Aldonza the pleasure of seeing him angry. He'll get the animals off the land and note it in their metaphoric account with Aldonza. They'll find some way to make her pay. They need to show the authorities that the Mendozas are good citizens and know how to comply with the law. Even if it's against their own interests. It's also time Cris realizes his father is not a monster. Aldonza may have won the battle, but not the war.
Joaquin leaves. Aldonza loved the house. Renato tells her that now is the time to claim the land. Aldonza thinks with Cris in jail it is NOT a good time. Renato disagrees. Cris no being their will be a good thing because Aldonza won't have the stress of worrying Cris being present when she confronts Sev. It's agreed that Renato will take care of telling Don Sev. Aldonza is going to visit Cris at the jail.
Sim comes to say good-bye to Lola. Am I reading too much into Irma's facial expression? She looked positively gob-smacked with recognition.
Ooo! Oooo! A slap scene!!! Aldonza is begging to see Cris and she's being denied entry. Up comes Cande, also demanding to see Cris. The detective explains to Cande that no one can see Cris and Cande explains that she is Cris's mother. Aldonza is about to explain that she's Cris's WIFE, but she doesn't even get out the "eh" in esposa before Cande cuts her off and says that Aldonza is NOBODY. Oh, actually she's a slut who has bewitched her son. She's like a leech (sanguijuela) trained to get what she can out of the first guy that crosses her bed and THWACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Aldonza round-house slaps her. That felt good. Aldonza decides to leave and come back when the garbage has been taken out. Cande continues to bully the detective but he reminds her that she's the mother of the detained. That doesn't give her the right to give orders.
Mari comes to the shop. She's hysterical. Her father has locked himself up in Abelardo's room and won't come out. He was supposed to be at work, but he didn't go.
RPC so I can spend more time on Uriel's scene. Aldonza kvetches about Cande to Adelina. No Cande doesn't know they are married. Yes there will be hell to pay when that comes out, but it's Cris's bomb to drop.
Irma gently asks Uriel why he didn't go to work. He didn't feel like it. Irma thinks he should go. He needs to distract himself. Staying in Abelardo's room isn't good for him. Uriel doesn't care. Irma asks him to make an effort. Mari cries in the doorway. Uriel can't bear living without his son. He can't accept that Abelardo isn't there. Irma tells them they have to go on. They have their niña Mari. She needs them, too. He cries. He knows...but Abelardo was his first born. Uriel was sure he was going to change. He can't take knowing his son isn't here anymore. Mari leaves slowly closes the door on her grieving parents.
Pru is in a swivet about Val. Cris isn't going to marry Val and Abelardo can't. Val wouldn't have married Abelardo any way. He was a mediocre. Pru questions that. A mediocre? Well, he managed to knock up Val. Val tells Pru this baby is not going to be born and Pru is going to help her! (That's going to be a hell of an anvil if Val goes through with that.)
Renato delivers the legal papers to Sev. Sev seems to take it well, calls himself a model citizen and orders Mel to get the animals off the land. Oh, but then Sev makes a crack about the "accident" in apartment and then comments that it looks like Renato, like Cris, is taken with Aldonza. Sev calls Aldonza a golfa and when Renato moves in to attack Sev, Sev pulls a gun saying that the attack is all he needs to kill Renato for breaking into his house. In other words, "Bring it, bro. I'll shoot you're sorry azz and say you broke in."

My 91 year old Spanish teacher was quite uncomfortable with the question and simply said she didn't know.
Thank you Sara...you always deliver and it is so appreciated.
Have a wonderful, safe week-end to all the peeps
Val crying in church, talking about her depression with the Padre, and calling herself trash, all came as a surprise to me. I'm going to blame her mood swings on her pregnancy hormones, and assume she'll be back to her usual shallow self soon. I wonder if the writers will let the baby be born. Irma and Uriel would be SO happy to learn they have a grandbaby on the way. It would be just like Dominga and Melesio with Lola after their son died.
That slap Al delivered to Cande felt good. :)
Al and company better be prepared for Sever's next move after the evicting the animals victory. You know he's going to do something vicious. There really is no winning with him as your opponent.
Going back to that conversation between Cris and Padre, it seemed to me that the point was to show that Cris really DOESN'T know what kind of hell his parents will have in store for him and Aldonza when they learn of the marriage. He thinks this is a simple love story that he's in the middle of, where hearts and flowers and declarations will fix everything. If this were Game of Thrones, someone would be saying to him: "You know NOTHING, Cristobal Mendoza!" He is so ignorant of what's really going on between his parents (and their allies), and Aldonza and her family.
Sev is getting deeper into the kimchee and Cande is not far behind.
Sorry, but I cannot feel one bit sorry for Val. Like Pru said, she was careless. Will this make Pru clean up her act regarding Tomas.
I was afraid that Sev was going to run over Sim when he was driving off. I too wish someone would have seen his little scene. The women in his life must find the only attractive thing about him is his money.
Rosemary Primera
I also want to clarify that being unwed and pregnant does not make one a slut. I was just thinking of the SL hypocrisy that we have all noted.
J in O- that's exactly what I was thinking about poor Mari! (Am I using the RPC too much?)
By the way, I am surprised that Val isn't attempting to pass off her baby as Chris's. (Yet. Could still happen.)
J in O
Sara, glad you saw my comment before it got eaten. Yah, I felt really bad for Mari, but it was Uriel who had me chewing on my hand throughout that scene, he was just hollow with grief.
By the way, I am surprised that Val isn't attempting to pass off her baby as Chris's. (Yet. Could still happen.)
J in O
add me to the list of those surprised by Val's visit to padre.
Yes, this baby could provide wonderful solace to Irma and Uriel.
Also, I wonder if the writers will kill Val off in the end, or make it a true repeat of Lola's story. Certainly would give them the second chance they've been looking for with Lardo.
Sara - That picture is SO weird.
Great scene with Uriel tonight! Even thawed me to Mari a teeny bit. Though poor Irma! She can have a moment's resst! I'm glad to see them really delving into a death rather than just make it a plot point and fodder for melodramatic grievers.
I wondered the same thing with the Sev/Sim scene. Someone had to have heard that, right?!
Wonder how much time it'll take them to decide to try to pass the baby off as Cris's anyway and then how long to get to DNA testing to officially declare him free?
Yes, even I felt a little pity for Mari. She was already feeling like the neglected child and hearing Uriel must have made her feel even more unneeded. I understand Uriel's grief, but poor Mari probably can't help but think "am I important too? I need you too, daddy."
"This is perfect material for the gossip capital of the world, don't you think?" Yeah, the Mendozas do enough weird stuff that you'd think their lives would be fodder for the town rumor mill.
"She doesn't burst into flames. Darn." I had the same thought. Why would a godless, egocentric bitch like Val go to the church for solace? PJ tried to do her a real service, and to follow up about it. He's such a cool guy.
"Val calls herself garbage." Yeah, and so have all of us. It's like she had a moment of blinding clarity about herself, then lost it as she began to think about how to abort the baby.
I can't wait for the marriage announcement, and the fallout. Steam will come out of Sev's ears, and Cande's braids will get so tight she will scalp herself.
Thanks again, Sara.
David
Can Cande's braids get any tighter? It's painful to watch her because my scalp burns just looking at the braids.
You are a virtual Rogelio's Thesaurus of Slut Vocab LOL instant classic right there!
I want to feel bad for Val, but she's such a whining little whiner. She looked like a 6 year oldlast night when she threw her tantrum and Pru told her to get it together. Somehow her blaming Aldonza for her problems is even more annoying than Cande doing it. And her saying Cris is now the cause of all the bad things that happen to her? Ugh, what?!
Sara, thanks for the recap, especially while you are super busy at the end of the school year. It must seem as the last few days are in slo-mo!
;-)
You are such a nice person, hellashelle. I don't even feel bad for Val and I don't even want to. Je suis beech.
Everytime I see "mis planes" it makes me smile, it sounds like a title for a beauty contest.
Rosemary Primera
"Rewinds are for confirming towel-clad galan status"
Lawdy, I hate it Abelardo was such a bad seed with the angst shown by his decent parents.
Thelma Madrigal is doing a bang up job as Val, errr I hate her. Bang up job as the spoiled brat Aranza in PSMA, hated her there too.
PoPo Chief - Adriano? Crap, dead end, no one called in an anonymous tip on him
Simoneta - oh well, easy scum, easy ho
PJ - I ain't a doctor like your daddy but maybe you got swine flu
Pato - pro tip, child proof outlets
Cande - and maybe I know not all are the size of your pinkie
Little Ray - wow Mom, you sure picked a winner
Pru - whew, I knew I forgot something for bible study, condoms
Cris - like really mad or just pissed
Rosemary Primera
Also, completely agree that Thelma Madrigal plays a spoiled brat the way Leticia Calderon plays a villana: love to hate those ladies!
For starters--wooo. Val calling herself trash. Yeah, the patio took a moment to savor that comment, stop the show and raise a glass to her total self-awareness.
But then she regressed back to her true self and had a bitch fest with her mother. Aren't their mother/daughter moments so endearing??/Yeah, NOT. If anyone needed a good slap up the head it was Pru last night with her disgusting comments about the baby.
But I can't see an abortion adding to the story line at all unless it's to do something to Val. So my guess is when it comes to it, they don't go thru with it and then they have their own Mis Plans to hook someone else as the father. But she's been far enough away, hasn't she, from Cris that pinning it on him wouldn't work. Now, that said, they pull Cande into planning a trap for Cris--you know the old drug him or get him drunk and then slip her in bed thing---then may they all line up for the one big anvil I put an order in for.
I'm actually starting to feel bad for Tomas being stuck on Pru after what she pulled with the baby.
Did Sev just pull a bone-headed move in letting Sim go, with everything she knows, and then pulling a gun on Ren with the lawyer right there. I know the lawyer is somewhat shady, but still.
Ok, it was a smuck moment, but I enjoyed the Pato electric moment. Just because.
E-man is being lined up as the pawn in this whole tale. Something about the way he's going from working with Sev to now people pulling him to working for Allie makes me very nervous.
The police guy at the desk last night is my hero. Cande is getting nowhere with those guys. And man, Allie should try our for the local baseball team...what a windup!!
Daisynjay
"...and maybe I know not all are the size of your pinkie"
This was my fave from tofie's list today.
"And man, Allie should try our for the local baseball team...what a windup!!"
Yes!! I feel like the slaps are getting bigger and bigger. I'm going to hell because I love it!
Poor thing and we thought it was sev or not marrying pj when she had the chance. ;-) LOL.
"THE SLAP", that was better than the one on NBC a few months back. Good for you ally girl. Cande so deserved that slap. Shes judging aldonza by her moms actions, so not fair. I hope she gets some more in before its over. She is so nasty to her.
THANK YOU SARA, FOR A GREAT DETAILED RECAP. I lile this.
Nina
* After Val's supposed suicide attempt when she came onto Cris I was so happy that he didn't give in and sleep with her because I knew we'd end up with her being pregnant and her passing the baby off as his with Abelardo being the real Father and reeeaaallly didn't want that storyline. Now.. she's pregnant and I think she's going to try something like that for sure - I just don't know how since she knew for certain that Abelardo was the Father so she must not have been with Cris for a while. The main couple got together and married way too fast for that to last. Something was going to break them up for a while and I think this just may be it. I could be wrong, but I suspect the abortion won't happen and Val will be saying the baby daddy is Cris in no time. The only question for me is whether this will be resolved fairly quickly like on HEFDM with Araceli/Chava/Sofia/Pedro or if it will be dragged out until the end for ultimate couple and reveal angst. I'm hoping it's the former and I agree that it will be nice for Uriel/Irma to find out that they have a grandchild and that a piece of their son will live on. They need that.
* I totally teared up at that Mari/Uriel/Irma scene last night in Abelardo's bedroom. There is something about this family, especially the Mother what evokes empathy in me despite the fact that Abelardo was far from a good guy. She comes across as very warm and level headed and extremely likable.
* Joaquin says he's not good with business and Renato says he knows nothing about vegetable gardens and orchards but me thinks that no one understands what a rental contract is because I still don't understand how anyone, let alone everyone who hears about Mis Planes, can think that creating a lucrative business on land you don't own and will have no access to in a year is a good idea. Unless Aldonza plans to set it ablaze ala Severiano on her way out, all she'd be doing is putting money in Humberto/Sev's pockets.. not to mention that she also fixed up that dilapidated house on her own dime. What a tenant!
I am sure that Al will get her happy ending and end up with the land back in her family's name somehow by the end but still, no one knows that will/may happen making Mis Planes more like Planes Estúpidos.
* So it looks like it hits the fan tonight when Sev and Candela find out about the marriage. Please don't let it happen at the very end.. I NEED that confrontation to happen tonight opposed to waiting all weekend and it happening Monday.
As for blaming the pregnancy on Cris, I know they don't show everything the characters do all the time, but since Cris and Val have been back to Santa Lucia and Aldonza showed up, it doesn't appear that they had sex. So if that's the case, it could have been a couple of months since the last time they did, and saying that Cris is the father could be a stretch. Just my guess.
When Sev pointed that gun on Renato and threatened him, I watched the lawyer. His eyes were huge and he looked like he was in total shock at Sev's behavior. I know the lawyer isn't very stand up, he was willing to bribe the judge, but he looked like he was totally surprised by what Sev was doing.
Thanks for pointing out that mysteriously empty street with mysteriously un-curious people off in the distance while Sev is having a very public breakup. I was having the same thoughts.
Blancos are linens...check. I hadn't heard that one before. (OK, I hadn't heard the sheep thing before, either, but I'm not likely to use that in conversation!)
I always hate the mistreatment of servants on these shows. But I'm glad she said something to Pru because she's right...Val made a prior suicide attempt, as far as anyone knows (except Pru?), and I don't think she was overreacting to worry that Val would do it again. And quite decent of her to be worried about Val rather than complaining about how Val was treating her.
"Pru walks away mumbling that the baby will probably be ugly. That really wasn't funny to me." Wasn't funny to me either! That whole scene and Pru being so nasty to both Val and Babylardo.
"Everything that happens to Val from now on will be Cris's fault." Oh, good, finally it's not Aldonza's fault. *roll eyes*
Lemme see if I'm understanding this...the judge upheld the validity of the rental contract, yes? The animals are going to be removed? And we've been talking about MIS PLANES foreeeeeeever. And everyone who actually hears about it thinks it's a great idea and they're going to make lots and lots of pesos...but they haven't decided what to plant. Um. Ok. I don't know a lot about plants other than I can't even keep the un-killable ones alive...but this seems kind of half-assed to me.
"Mari leaves slowly closes the door on her grieving parents." I'm actually feeling sorry for Mari. She felt ignored when Lardo was alive, but now she's really being left to fend for herself.
"Val tells Pru this baby is not going to be born and Pru is going to help her!" Uh, well...at least she's not going to do something stupid like try to say it's Cris' baby? But I'm not sure that an hour after you found out you're pregnant when the baby daddy just got buried yesterday is the right time to make major life decisions. And Pru's shocked face can just shut up...don't be talking smack about it being ugly and calling it a thing and whatnot and then be all horrified that Val doesn't want to continue the pregnancy.
"Sev pulls a gun saying that the attack is all he needs to kill Renato for breaking into his house." QTH with the horrified lawyer...he was all "oh we'll just bribe a judge" a few weeks ago, but today he's quaking in his boots, talking about "things take time," cowering...did we get a new lawyer and I didn't notice?
Can't Pru spring for a cheap hotel and get this done.
So, Renato will be feeding his partners and footing the bill for planting and harvesting. How many more equal share "partners" will Aldonza bring in for Renato to support? I am beginning to believe she is taking advantage of him because he is stupid.
Who could say no to that face?
I'll give the lawyer a pass because bribery is long step away from shooting someone, especially when your provoking them. RME at Renato because he's a lawyer, he knows what Sev's like and how he talks about Aldonza, but he's still going to physcially start after him in his own house. Keep your lid on, kid.
Glad you brought up the servant's reaction to Val. I had almost forgotten about her suicide attempt, so I'm with you: good on the maid for immediately jumping on whacked out antics as a cry for help.
Ugh, so many of our young villanas are such entitled brats. What's Val's issue? She's too young, pretty, upper middle class for her own good?
My question is where are they going to get their fake medical documents? Will Val just say she's too weirded out by her dad being her doctor or will it just be that he's an internal med doc and she needs an ob/gyn?
the sheep thing was interestin and makes sense because sheep are sheared for their wool in the spring when God makes the weather warm. My friend Judy used to have sheep. She once got excused from jury duty because it was spring and she had to help the sheep give birth to the lambs.
Tofie- It's like a WWE/F tag team fight.
I'll swing by in a bit to read comments more closely. I have to start stuffing report cards into envelopes.
J in O---So your comments vanish too. It is so strange. So many of my comments would post and then soon vanish but lately no problems
I've done nothing different. Wow do you explain computers?
Vivi---GREAT, just GREAT. Your comment at 11:39 PM.
I hope that Aldonza hires trust worthy security to watch over the fields and her equipment because evil Sever will surely try something.
See it's Cris' fault---All of Vile's problems are because of Cris. She, Vile is not responsible
for her actions. It's kinda like the devil made her do. Yes, that's it.
Tofie---You're soooo bad.
Maybe Val got the swine flu.
Condoms for the bible study.
East scum, easy ho.
It's agreed. Thelma/Vile is doing a great job. I can't stand her pretty face so I guess she's doing a super job with what the writers have given her.
Tonight will be GREAT. Cande found the wedding ring.
must see tv.
the gringo.
If Sev has “one year” to wait on the lands, I wonder just how much time has actually passed in SantaLucia-Time. A month? There might still be time for Silvia to end up preggers from that one night stand with Renato.
There was a certain cold irony as we went from the tear-jerking scene (yes, my eyes were getting misty) of Hum holed up in Lardo’s room, consumed by his grief in losing a son, to Val talking about aborting her own unborn child.
Here in the U.S.A., Cande could have probably pressed assault charges upon Aldonza for that slap, right there in the police station with a half-dozen witnesses. Gah.
When Sev pushed Sim out onto the street . . . apparently she has no key to that place *and* the door must be self-locking. Sev never looked back at it when he left. Beanie hat time?
Tomas holding the pillow over his … erm …. “brain” was a hoot.
I think they're starting to draw parallels directly: Sev lying about his dead daughter, Sim lying about her's; Hum locked in his room not letting anyone in because of his emotions about Lardo and the subsequent loving and heartbreaking support of his wife vs. Val locked in the bathroom because of her feelings about Baby Lardo and the subsequent reactions of her mother; even the frenzied shot in the dark corner of the bridge stairway vs. the coldly planned and provoked threatened shot that Sev left us with last night.
I didn't even think about the house, I just assumed Sev locked it from inside and get into later with another key cuz it's in his name. Still don't quite get why he was SO pissed at S/V.
Rosemary Primera
On the other hand---Aldonza could counter sue for defamation of character. You slut, getting everything out of every man that ends up in your bed.
BUT---What would a novela be without great slaps I ask?
I was astonished when Sev threw S/V out in the street, all the while yelling his head off and no one even open a door to see what was going on. Here there would have been cell phone cameras from all over the place pointed in Sev's direction.
the gringo
Gringo is right. Tonight will be must see TV!
Nina---Happy safe Memorial day patio peeps.
OH that's right Val was in PSMA and I too really hated that brat she was there. Good acting for sure. I hate her even more here.
Anne
Nina
When Sev tried to discredit Aldonza and mentioned to Cris that she wasn't pure, he replied back that that wasn't a big deal and he wasn't either. I took that to mean that he had relations with Val at some point and in the scene after her suicide attempt where she's heavily coming onto him, he didn't act like it would be their first time together. He just acted like a guy who didn't want to be manipulated by her and play her game.
