Someone up above was watching out for the patio because I had trouble following the dialogue. I'm so grateful you're on the job, Jarifa!

Overall a really fun episode.

And oh yeah what a shindig!

Capítulo #63 6/24/15. "The Shindig"

Part 1

The shindig is on and the party trucks from San Bartolo El Chico arrive with a full cast of characters/partygoers. They are all led by a guy called "El Panzón"Esquivel. ("Big Belly" Esquivel). Facundo comes out to greet them and slaps El Panzón on his belly and swings him around. El Panzón has given all of his day laborers the day off and has brought them. Hilda has also come. Beto is not pleased and wants to know what she is doing there. She came with her granny Ruperta (remember she is the witch). Granpappy Porfirio greets her and asks her is she remembers something (I guess between them) . She says she does, playfully hits him with her shawl and tells him to be quiet. Tía Humilde is there but tired. María tells Beto to take Humilde to the house to rest but Granpappy breaks in and gladly offers to help her out. Granny Perpétua greets the three crooked Zamarripa cousins. She tells Conchita to keep an eye on them. They are petty thieves but part of the family. She welcomes them as a bunch of bandits to which they reply that they don't rob the family. They take off their hats and give a little bow. The next to arrive is the priest who is very old and frail with a cane. He thinks he is in Hollywood. Jacinto is told to take him off to the bathroom before he leaves this garden to go to the eternal one. Granpappy laughingly says that Father Filemón is worse off than he is. They brought a band from the town that is heavy on the tuba and accordion and they all start dancing. Facundo tells El Panzón to get the meat grilling . El Panzón stops to show his belly to everyone and says nothing gets in the way of his belly when it comes to eating or running and goes running off to the grill. Everyone is having a fine old time. Animated confetti is falling all around

Next door Isabel is sort of twitchingly dancing to the music drifting over from the partay. She really hates that music but cannot stop from dancing. She goes in to complain about the tacky party and volume of the music to Santiago in the living room and threatens to call the police. He tells her she will be doing no such thing. He does not want any more problems. He reminds Isabel about the agreement they made with the kids not to fight. This just incenses her more that the kids are now running things. Isabel is back to shouting. Rocío, Felipe, and Alejandra appear and say they are going to the party. Isabel says no they aren't. They say they are and just leave. Santiago reads the paper and Isabel does her twitchy dance to her room saying she really does not like the music at all.

Part 2

Facundo has just changed into a navy blue charro suit with matching hat in his bedroom. Beto tells him how good he looks. This pleasant moment does not last long because Isabel is calling Facundo on his cell. He says he is not answering. Beto wants to know why she'd be calling today of all days. Facundo says she is not well in the head because she is jealous and always saying that he does not love María, etc. Beto tells him to be careful. El Panzón comes in and jumps on the bed to try out the mattress. The next to arrive are the Zamarripa cousins and there is a lot of chit chat. Finally Facundo gets the "jokers" out of his bedroom. Nevertheless, on the way out, the Zamarripa cousins manage to fill their pockets with a little of this and a little of that. Isabel is calling again. She is sitting on the floor on some blankets in her bedroom begging Facundo to answer. Back at the Carmona's, all of the females are getting made up and their hair fixed for the party. Carmen is liking her straight hair style but Susana would rather be out at the grill with the guys. Humilde stops her and tells her she is a young lady and should get her hair combed if nothing else. Granny reminds her that Susana is barely 13. Well, says Humilde back in her day a girl at 13 was a real young lady. Granny lets her have it and tells her she should have gotten married first in her day so she would not have ended up a old maid with loose morals her whole life. Hilda is getting made up. Granny and Humilde keep bickering.

Outside the bad is playing, a woman singer is singing about "amores con trampa and rancheros" The dancing goes on. The meat is grilling. There are arcade games like at a carnival. Beto and Rocío are doing the shoooting gallery thing. Felipe and Alejandra are getting cotton candy. The singer is pulling up Father Filemón to dance on the dance floor. Facindo comes out and says with a smile he is ready to reaffirm his eternal love for his Maria. Inside, Ruperta makes a snide joke about María and Facundo being so casados (married/casarse) that they will end up cazándose (hunting each other/cazar) with a shotgun. Granny returns it in kind by saying she should have stayed home with her fresh floozy of a granddaughter. Hilda takes offense and so it goes. Susana is suddenly out of there.

Outside, Facundo is welcoming the people that have come from his company. Esteban appears bringing a nice bottle of something. Facundo introduces them all to El Panzón. Rocio thanks Esteban for not pressuring her aunt. Kids are riding on a miniature train and there is tons of wonderful food. Being the joker that he is El Panzón tells Facundo he invited Florencio Gallardo and point out some guy with his back to them. Facundo gets all angry and tirns the guy around and ha! ha! It is not Florencio. El Panzón gets a good laugh. Facundo warns him against being a joker tonight because it is very special.

Part 3

Isabel has not given up trying to get Facundo's attention. Since he is not answering his phone, she sneaks next door, finds a rope and climbs up in a tree. Rocío sees the light fingered cousins up to no good and wants to confront them about their stealing but Neto, explains they are his cousins and what they do is a fact of life. Facundo sees Isabel trying to get his attention and blowing him kisses but then she is gone. She has fallen out of the tree and limps back home where Santiago just laughs. He saw it all. Rather than humilliating herself trying to get that peasant's attention she should be trying to save their marriage. She said she would make an effort for them to stay together so she needs to do it. Facundo is in love with María. Leave them in peace.

María wants to help in the kitchen. Granny says it is time to put on her dress and get ready. So she leaves.Granny is starting in on Humilde again who says she treats her like her house shoes. Humilde wants to know when Granny will stop treating her so badly. Granny says the day Humilde dies. It turns out that Humilde was such a close cousin to Granny that they were like sisters but then she betrayed her by having an affair with Granny's husband. Humilde has apologized over and over throughout the years, but Granny cannot forget or forgive.

Felipe starts talking to Carmen and Diego arrives and gives her a big kiss. She takes him to meet the relatives. At the same time, Hilda is bothering Beto and Rocío. Beto has to stand between them to keep them from fighting amd leaves with Rocío. Ruperta tells her granddaughter she knows what to do but not yet. Love is like cotton candy: it tastes sweet but then is gone. Rocío's and Beto's love will end. Beto and Rocío end up by the fountain together and away from the others. There Beto calms her down and he has an engagement ring for her. He proposes to Rocío and she says yes. He puts the ring on her finger and it magically sparkles. They kiss. Beto wants to tell everyone. Hilda is hidden watching amd listening.

Granny is helping María get dressed and wants to know what is wrong. María says that seeing all of their friends from the country makes her realize how much she misses living there that they will be gone and things will be the same. Granny says her place is with her husband. She needs to smile and enjoy her party.

Part 4

Hilda tells Ruperta the news. She is ready to take the next step Ruperta gives her a bottle and tells her to use only a couple of drops. Ruperta looks worried. Bero is talking with Rocío at a table and they are toasting she with champagne and him with a beer. Hilda comes by to "apologize". Beto and Rocío just want to be left alone. They leave and leave their drinks on the table. Hilda goes to put a couple of drops from the potion in the bottle but someone bumps in to her and the bottle's contents pour into Rocío's champagne. Rocío comes back for her drink.

Facundo introduces and asks for a round of applause for the queen of his household María. They are going to marry again. Facuxndo and María dance to "Ranchero en la ciudad". Off to the ceremony!!!

The vow renewal ceremony starts. Granny walks María down the aisle. Susana and Carmen are talking about how beautiful thier mother looks. Grandpappy has now moved on to flirting with Conchita and wants to know when they are going to get to the altar. Rocío is dinking her chanpagne but doesn't look too good. The priest has them all sit down. The ceremony starts. He married them 20 years ago. The priest Father Filemón takes a good long drink of the wine in the chalice and tells Granpappy to pay attention like a lttle kid. Granpappy has been busy turned around looking at Conchita. María and Facundo stand ready to make their vows. Isabel is up along a side wall watching the ceremony and shaking her head. At the same time, Santiago is looking for her in their bedroom and only finds an empty pill bottle and an empty wine bottle. He looks concerned.

María repeats her vows with Isabel watching from afar on her perch. Isabel is visibly upset. María is just beaming. Then it is Facundo's turn: Facundo Carmona promises here in front of everyone and God to continue loving you and having you Isabel!!! (Should have been María) Facundo has just noticed Isabel on her perch when he says her name. She is so shocked she falls down and out of sight.

Part 5

Santiago rushes to the window to see where Isabel has gone.

María and the whole crowd cannot believe what they just heard. Facundo starts out saying he didn't say what he did vut he will have no success with his trying to weasel his way out of this one. María is irate. Facundo tries to explain that isabel had climbed all the way up there. Granny asks him how could he. María beats him with her bouquet until all the petals are gone. He begs María to believe him that Isabel had climbed all the way up there. Even Jacinto is on his case. Then Isabel comes walking down the aisle with her shoes in her hands like a bouquet and the gait of a bride saying to Facundo with a sicko smile :"You said it" . Then to everyone else "He said my name. He said it." María tells Isabel to leave. So does Facundo. María gives her a good slap to send her on her way and then the slapfest begins. Carmen holds back María. The priest just crosses himself. Granpappy says something like the you know what hit the fan. Santiago has arrived to take Isabel home The ruckus continues until Rocío passes out. Then all attention shifts to her. They carry her out. Isabel wants to know what happened to her niece, what happened her daughter? María is left sobbing.

Jarifa

Jarifa- Like this great episode, your recap did not disappoint!

The party lived up to expectations. It was both fantastic and a disaster. Looks like there were moments we didn't see also, like Susana singing her song with Carmen and Ale as backup dancers, that the showed during the closing credits. It looked like a great party. Carnival games, amazing food and drinks, a great band, and fun guests. What could be better?

Wow! Africa/Maria looked amazing. That dress was obviously custom made for her and fit like a glove. I liked both hairstyles they gave her. I liked Susana's look. She wore a dress, but it was very much her style with boots too. I wish Carmen had worn different shoes but thought she also looked cute. The men in charro suits are always nice to look at.

Rocio and Beto engaged-- yay! Rocio intoxicated by Hilda's witch potion- boo! I hope she and her granny get in a lot of trouble for this.

Panzon, the ratero cousins, and Isa falling out of trees and off walls made me laugh. Though I did not find it funny that she was trying to derail the ceremony, and ultimately did. I'm not sure how Fac is going to win Maria back now.

At first I thought Perpetua was just being mean to Humilde, but then when we found out what Humilde did, I'm no amazed that Perpetua even speaks to her at all or has slowed her to have contact with her family. Clearly Perpetua hasn't told anyone else, not even Maria, what Humilde did to her to cause her to be so bitchy to her.

Typo: I'm now amazed...

Ugh! Another typo: or has allowed her, not slowed.

Jarifa, your summaries are always so stunningly detailed and this was no exception. I missed several things (the drugging of Rocio's drink for one). Gracias! The happiness you give provides a sure fire antidote to any challenges the day ahead may pose. ”Animated confetti is falling all around” made me smile. Most excellent.

What a night!

I loved Isa singing (unwillingly) and being carried away by the music very much against her will. I hated that once again, she stole the limelight away from Maria. Eduardo never looked so handsome as he did last night. My heart melted.

I feel sorry for Facundo. His slip was certainly unintentional. I agree Vivi - I don't know how he will recover. Did I see Maria slashing her dress with a knife?? That beautiful dress. Oh no!

Where is Margarito? I think Ale was dancing with a goat...

What a fun party and what a shame it ended so badly...

Diana

Diana- The slashing was in the previews. The caca is going to hit the fan tonight. We saw Margarito on the stage eating with a lot of the other little animals in the closing credits, but it was hard to see in the little box Uni gave us.

Vivi, thanks so much. I'm so sorry to have mentioned it as I didn't remember it was from the preview (as I don't think we are supposed to be commenting on them).

Glad there was a Margarito sighting. Miss seeing him with Susana.

Diana

Diana- There's was no problem with mentioning it. I was shocked and saddened to see what will happen to that great dress too! :(

Yes Diana, no problem discussing previews here. The Sombra team did a lot of emailing back and forth and decided not to allow preview talk because the Sombra preview had gotten to where they were either misleading or practically spoilers.

I did not see any previews last night because I was too focused on the little box with the closing credits. I plan to go to Hulu today just to watch them on a bigger screen. We were ribbed.

That was some episode, wasn't it? It was so much fun to watch and recap. I really lucked out with this one.

Vivi, I could not believe the extent of the activities at the party with all of its carnival aspects. I, too, enjoyed the humor from El Panzón, the ratero brothers (so dapper in their own way) and Isabel falling out of sight. The men were a very pleasnat sight in their ranchero outfits.

Diana, I loved the animated confetti. It sure put the magical last touch on what had the potential to be a magical evening. On one hand, I also felt sorry for Facundo because it was just a slip of the tongue because he was so shocked to have seen Isabel perched on the wall. On the other hand, I don't because he still has not done what he needs to do get Isabel out if his life: tell María each and every time Isabel tries to/contacts him and what she is saying. The real question is: does he really want Isabel out of his life? Hmmmm. . . .

Love that dress. Hate to see it destroyed but sure can understand it.

Can't wait for tonight.

Jarifa

We were ribbed! That is a good one, Sara!

Jarifa

Jarifa, like Vivi has said your recap did not disappoint. It was a life saver for me and I thank you a squillion times for your care and attention in writing this recap. It was such a full episode and you got it all.

The party was fun, but sitting down with my coffee and a Jarifa recap was even better.

Drat. We were robbed. Oh autocorrect, you scamp.

Jarifa, I was thrilled when you got the party episode. I knew you would do it justice. I also thought it was a perfect because you were so excited about the party.

What I liked
Isa's dress.

But Maria's was prettier.

The band.

The family having to hold Susana back from Isa.

Ale dancing with Jacinto and Jacinto in his charro suit.

Make that everyone in a charro suit. I liked Beto's modified charro.

Diego in a suit!

I did not like
Isa ruining the party.

Someone saying Rocío and Beto would not last.

Rocío getting drugged.

Fac saying Isa's name (and he didn't look all that sure of himself when he started anyway.)

I don't care what ratings or reviewers say, this show makes me laugh, cry, throw stuff at the TV, gasp and leaves me anxious to see the next episode. That's a good show to me.

My faves from last night:

El Panzón telling Facundo he had invited Florencio. Facundo was visibly angry. Florencio cannot come soon enough.

Granpappy Porfirio having had a thing with or hitting on almost all of the older women there. Then Granpappy pursuing Conchita. He was in fine form.

The Velasco kids defying Isabel and just going to the party.

The Zamarripa cousins so well dressed but so well mannered in spite of their light touch. They sure got their share so far.

Beto proposing to Rocío and she accepting.

Isabel falling out of the tree and off the wall.

Finding out about Humilde's past with Granny's husband.

Not my faves:

Ruperta giving Hilda the potion in the bottle. She looked and acted as if she were wary of the whole situation with Hilda, but gave them to her anyway.

Isabel having the nerve to walk down the aisle after ruining the vow renewal. The alcohol and pills are no excuse or explanation at this point.

Hilda being the dangerous jerk she is and not just spilling out Rocío's drink when she realized she had spilled the contents of the whole bottle in the drink. She was not just playing games but did not care if she really injured Rocío. She needs to go with Isabel and Francis far far away.

Now, the question is: what will María do?

Jarifa

Sara, I liked ribbed! Visually like skinny little sections? That is what I thought.

Glad you all enjoyed the recap.

Jarifa

Thanks for the reassurances about the preview Vivi and Sara!

Jarifa, ITA in that Facundo really needs to exorcise Isa from his life. Yet, there is still some whiff of attraction that won't/can't let him do it. Sigh.

Sara, I think we all love the show and that's all that matters. And yes, we all eagerly wait to watch and/or read the recaps, which are just as stellar as the episodes.

Diana

I feel bad for Facundo only because he really was startled by Isa falling off the wall and that's why he yelled her name. But as Sara pointed out, his head wasn't 100% in the game, anyway. For a while now, some portion of his thoughts (and dreams) have been dedicated to Isa.

The other reason I feel this new upheaval with Maria is deserved is that after their last reconciliation Maria has kept up her end of the bargain. She has been less jealous and naggy. She has held her tongue plenty of times when she had the right to protest, in order to keep peace in the family. She made a vow not to lie to Fac, and she hasn't. For example, she tells Fac right away if she has an encounter with Santi or Isa, or does something with Santi. Look how many encounters Fac has had with Isa since the reconciliation that he has not mentioned to Maria. Why is Isa in his list of contacts on his phone? Why is her number not blocked? Facundo is being a big old hypocrite. Bring on Florencio!

Well put, Vivi. Yes, why is her number not blocked? Good question. Looks like the power in the household has just shifted to María. Hope she uses it to make herself happy and fullfilled.

Jarifa

Amazing recap!

The party was a hoot!

ITA with everything said about Facundo's head not being 100% focused on the day. He let himself get distracted by Isa. Also, I just felt he seemed to be trying too hard the whole day. As if guilt was forcing him to go overboard. Maria looked so so beautiful, his eyes should have been on nothing but her.

Disappointed Florencio was not at the party but maybe he will swoop in to save Maria.

Found it funny that Perpetua was always on Maria about forgiving Fac for his indiscretions and yet she can't forgive Humilde. Did she just forgive her husband and place all blame on Humilde?

Hilde is dangerous and hopefully Rocio is okay but I wonder what the concoction was supposed to do anyway? How was it going to get in the way of Beto and Rocio? Gosh I hope it wasn't something that would make her unable to have kids!

Can't say enough how beautiful Maria looked. I kept hoping she would have a glamorous makeover and it was achieved last night.

Yes, Carvivlie! And I loved the context of the makeover. It was for the party and trying to be something she wasn't. Fac got to see how gorgeous his wife is and I hope Isa took note. She's got stiff competition.

Excuse me NOT trying to be something she wasn't. It was in no way as some sort of competitive response to Isa.

Am I making sense?

Carvivlie, that would have been the best if Florencio had come to the party. Hope we don't have to wait too long for him to give Facundo some well needed overdue competition.

Jarifa

Just did a bit of digging on the dress and found out it was designed exclusively for Africa by two of the show's costume designers-- Maribel Amigon and Luigi Sossi. It's a mermaid dress, but what really makes it pop is the Mexican embroidery at the waist and at the hem. Very simple, but very lovely. And yes, I also loved Isa's dress this episode. This was a much better way for her to do pink, than that Barbie tennis dress she wore last episode.

Thank you for that information, Vivi!

I had a similar thought that last night's pink was better.

Vivi, thanks for the research. Beautiful clothing on both of them.

Jarifa

Please repost with some sort of name. I've been burned by too many Anons and though you said your information was not a spoiler, the fact that you posted anonymously gives me pause.

I agree I had the same thought, but again since you didn't even want to add your name it makes me nervous and we have a anonymous spoiler in other parts of the site.

This episode-- the twitchy dancing, the pratfalls, the complete insanity-- is an example of why I was so excited that Itati would be the lead in this tn. She is all in when it comes to physical comedy, in a way we don't usually see with the female leads in these tn comedies.

I have been very impressed with her physical comedy and the fact that she's willing to do it. I'm sure other actresses wouldn't.

I've posted often to this site as anon, but I will add my name to this repost and future posts. What I said if I can remember again verbatim is .. Thank you Jarifa, I didn't understand at all what was going on between Perpetua and Humilde. Also was Rocio poisoned by that potion and will she need a blood transfusion with Esteban being the only one with that blood type? I went on to say that my thought is not a spoiler; it's just that I've seen a lot of tn's with similar plots. Esteban seemed to show some partiality to Rocio which made me think this is how this might be going. And finally, I liked that Carmen pranced off with Diego leaving Fili in the dust. I think I got it all.

Lola

Thank you, Lola. I'm sorry other Anons are ruining it for you and other legitimate contributors.

And like I said, I had the same thought, too. Esteban did make that comment about specifically not wanting to hurt Rocío.

Here's Lola's original comment -

Thank you Jarifa. I had no clue as to what was going on between Humilde and Perpetua. I wonder if Rocio had been poisoned with an overdose of whatever that stuff was and will need a blood transfusion. Esteban's will be the only match. This is not a spoiler, it's the result of watching too darn many of these tn's. Loved that Carmen pranced off with Diego.

Thank you Jarifa for the great, detailed recap.

It was a hard ep for me to watch because I hated that Isa and Fac ruined Maria’s special day. And now the whole village thinks that Fac has been unfaithful to her?

I liked the confetti effect. It actually looked real for a moment and it enhanced that scene. Usually the special effects are heavy-handed in TN’s. Not this time.

What was the purpose of the drug Hilde gave Rocio? Was it to make her rip-roaring drunk so she’d make a fool of herself?

Love when Susana gets her mule face on.

I’m not trying to defend Isa on the whole—she’s a selfish piece of work on her good days—but she IS being drugged and that is effecting her actions.

Lola: agree about Carmen prancing off with Diego was great. She really is trying to make it work. Unlike HER FATHER!! I also thought blood transfusion, too. Some TN’s don’t got there, but so many others do.

Liked the little dancing thing during the credits. Too bad it was hard to see. However, I’m not so sure the animals like being "flung" around. I think Julie and Bass (my kitties) would put up with it for about two seconds.

Nanette

Jarifa, you knocked it out of the park! It was a great episode, with so much going on and so many new players, and you captured it all. Plus you made sense out of some stuff that just flew over me. I feel duh! that I didn't get that Isa was carrying her shoes down the aisle like a bouquet.

ITA all comments. Fac was trying too hard to show his total commitment to Maria, and he shouldn't have needed to "try" or look anywhere but in Maria’s face during his vows.
Enjoyed Maria thrashing Fac with her bouquet. Hated Isa slapping Maria back, but Maria got her back, yay!

Now the kids can't help but side with Maria. So cute (and sad) when Jacinto confronted his dad and I love Susanna putting on her game face too. The writers and actors have done a great job making me feel the Carmona family, so though I am delighted Fac is getting payback for not valuing Maria the way he should've, it is sad seeing the kids disappointed by their father.

Most disturbing was Rocio getting drugged. Isa called out ”my hija,” so I guess Rocio really is her daughter. Isa thought-bubbled earlier putting Rocio in an asylum so I'm wondering if what Hilda did to her will play into that.

Humilde is quite a bit younger than Perpetua. Though there’s no excuse for Humilde betraying Perpetua, sounds like she was a young girl bull-dozed by an old wolf.

So glad last night’s episode didn’t happen on a Friday. It’s great we don’t have to wait over a weekend to find out what Maria does next. I view that preview of her ripping that beautiful wedding dress as a symbol of her liberating herself from Fac's macho bull. I hope Maria only changes in how she handles Fac but stays the same everywhere else.

Niecie- I didn't see Isa calling out to Rocio as mi hija as anything odd. Both she and Santi default to calling Rocio and Feli hijo/a whenever they are in emotionally charged moments. Rocio and Feli do the same thing, calling Ale their sister during high emotion/tender moments, and calling Isa and Santi their parents. That's not to say that it won't turn out to be true, but Rocio fainting dead away made her saying that understandable.

Thanks Jarifa. Great recap. And what a great episode ... better than most finales.

I was really impressed at Isabel climbing up the rope on the tire swing, with those sky-high heels. So glad she didn't try to use them as a weapon in the fight scene.

Loved all the wedding attire, with the exception of Carmen's shoes, as Vivi noted. Maybe she has to wear flats when standing next to Felipe, but surely they could have found some basic black flats.

Wish we could have seen more of Susana's performance. Looks like these kids can really dance. And Jacinto's breakdancing was adorable.

Although I don't fault Facundo for saying Isabel's name when she fell off the wall, he hasn't treated Maria very well and he really doesn't deserve her. Maybe her talk about still wanting to go back to the country is foreshadowing. Now we know that Facundo stole her away from Florencio. I imagine she will start thinking she made a mistake in choosing Facundo over Florencio.

I'm wondering how the writers are ever going to make us like Isabel, or even Facundo. Can't wait to see what's ahead.

Recap up late or early as usual.

Jarifa

Gracias, Jarifa! It was another good one. Well... If throwing stuff at the TV constitutes "good".

Capítulo #64 6/25/15 "Repercussions and the Wisdom of don Porfirio"

Part 1

Estefany is chatting with (Jose)fina about the articles they stole from the Velasco's. Fina is worried because so few of the items have sold. Estefany assures her that her criminal mind has never failed her in the past. Fina is also worried what will happen if the Velasco's recognize their pieces on the internet and file charges against them. Estefany assures her that she has it all coldly planned out. She is the brains of their criminal organization. Nobody is going to end up in prison because they are going to sell it all and at the very least they will have enough money for a vacation at the beach. She adds that Fina really needs the sun because she is looking like a newly plucked chicken. Fina just wants it all sold so she can get her money and go far away.

Rocío has arrived at the hospital with Isabel, Santiago, Alejandra, Felipe, Beto and Facundo. They take her into emergency for treatment. Santiago asks Beto if Rocío was feeling okay before she collapsed. Beto says no, she was perfectly fine until Isabel showed up and caused the scandal. That is when she got sick. Isabel is just sobbing saying that the fault is hers. isabel feels like her head is going to explode so Santiago tries to calm her down by telling her to breathe. He tells her that her problem is the pills she took with the wine. She doesn't want to discuss that in public. Facundo is just standing and watching the "show" without any emotion. He tells Beto he is going home and for Beto to call him if anything happens. Isabel says "Facundo" as he leaves. He pauses, looks at her and is out of there. Santiago asks Isabel why she did this. All she can say is that she wants her daughter Rocío to be well. He comforts her the best he can. Beto just stares.

We are back with the heisters who are looking at the articles for sale on the internet with no buyers. Estefany says they will all sell sooner or later. Fina has a great idea that Estefany will claim as hers being the "thinking one" in the organization: why not sell the furniture at La Lagunilla (a large public market in D.F.)?

At the Carmoma house, Carmen is all bummed out about how the clenration ended with all the time and work she put in. Humilde pipes up that Rocío must be pregnant the way she fainted out of nowhere. Conchita says that Humilde has nothing to say about her Rocío. Granny Perpétua is going to look in on María. Conchita asks Granny to please tell her if she hears anything about Rocío. Ruperta quietly asks how many drops of the potion did Hilda give to Rocío. Hilda explains that she gave her all pf it. Ruperta looks worried. Carmen looks at them suspiciously as if she overheard something.

Part 2

María is running around and through the house sobbing as she goes. Granny is following jeer trying to calm her down. When she reaches her bedroom she looks at herself in her mirror and rips off her gown. She asks Granny where Facundo is. He hasn't gotten back yet. Granny tells María to worry about herself for once, that that will be better. She understands her pain but does not know how to help her. María just continues sobbing saying she feels like the biggest idiot in the world. How could Facundo do that to her? Granny says maybe he was confused, maybe it was just a slip of the tongue. María disagrees and decides that Isabel was right: he was thinking about her and not about María. María says she will never forgive him for that. Granny tries to talk her into taking a bath and calming down so she can talk more calmly with Facundo when he comes. She won't cause any scandals but Facundo is going to have to forget the María he knows.

Facundo enters the Carmona living room where everyone is gathered still in their party clothing. They all want to know how Rocío is. He says Beto will call. El Panzón takes this opportunity to stick it to Facundo about Isabel being after him. Facundo twists his nose which sends him to the floor. El Panzón's parting shot is that Florencio will be the first person that finds out that Facundo is having problems with María. Facundo threatens him and throws out all of the country guests. Granny comes to get Facundo to talk to María. Granpappy Porfirio takes over removing the country folk. Things start falling out of the Zamarripa cousins pockets as they hurry out and Granpappy finds his own watch among the items.

When Facundo comes into the bedroom he finds small swatches of fabric that were María's dress on the floor. María enters in a robe and asks about Rocío. Facundo tells her a doctor is seeing her and then says he wants to talk about what happened. She does not want to hear anything. He insists and goes on about how Isabel has been harrassing him, calling him and at that moment in the ceremony where he was going to say his vows to her, Isabel appeared up on the wall. He continues with talking about having a nightmare about her the night before. She says she knew he didn't tell ner the truth about the nightmare when she asked him, Why not? He did not want to hurt her. María believes that the real reason Isabel is chasing him is that he is giving her some kind of hope. María wants no more explanations or promises. She doesn't believe him and in her soul she feels she cannot trust him.

At the hospital they are all still in the waiting room. The doctor comes out to let them know that Rocío will be okay. They will keep her overnight for observation. She suffered from a serious case of poisoning and the odd thing is the poison came from a type of wild mushroom. Beto looks like he has put the pieces of that puzzle together.

María and Facundo are still talking. Yes, she is being serious. He asks if she is going back to San Bartolo el Chico. No, with the shop and the kids in school she is staying in the city but things will be changing netween them. He wants to know if she doesn't love him anymore. She says she will always love him but she does not know iif she is so in love with him like when they were first married. He begs her not to say that. He promises he wil do whatever to make her love him like she did again, etc. She really cannot be bothered. She is going to worry about herself from now on. Sneer refuses to suffer because of him, Isabel or any other blockhead. She tells him to get out. she sits and cries.

Part 3

The country folk are leaving with all kinds of food to take with them. Granny is seeing them off. Bero arrives and confronts Hilda and asks her what stupid thing she did to Rocío. Ruperta says it was just a love potion. Hilda owns up to putting the lpotion in Rocío's drinks but says it was an accident. He tells her to disappear once and for alll. She could end up in jail. They all finally leave in their trucks.

María is at her shop when Estefany under the guise of friendship arrives and recognizes one of the tables in the shop as coming off her web sale. She is worried. She asks María where she bought the table. It is so pretty. María can only tell her it was an anniversary gift from her son. Store name?? No, María thinks it was bought on the internet. Estefany asks if she had a fight with Facundo. María is sick of so many women being interested in her husband including Estefany. Estefany says she could never do something like Isabel did to her. She goes on to talk about how she lost her job when Santiago was removed from the company and how she will lose everything if she cannot get a job.

Granpappy is having a heart to heart with his son Facundo. He tells him that life is like a rat. Just when you think you have it trapped, it gets free and sometimes it even bites you. Facundo asks what is he saying? Granpappy tells him not to play stupid with him; he can still give him a good slap upside the head. Life puts many traps in our path in life, so a man has to use his wits as he walks to make his way through. He tells Facundo that he is about to be bitten by the rat because he wasn't been able to reisist a fleshy little mouth, eyes like the sun, legs like those of a quarter mile colt, breasts . . . better he not say lest he have a heart attack . . . He tells Facundo that you just don't find a female like María anywhere and if he ends up losing her, he will be sorry the rest of his life and that doesn't even count the whuppin's he will be getting from him everyday until he dies. He doesn't want to see Facundo go through what he did when his wife (Facundo's mother) died. It wasn't his fault but it hurt him a great deal anyway. So just think about how it will hurt Facundo if he loses María through his foolishness, how it will be hurt to be separated from his children. He remembers Facundo as a child when his face was so full of pain and sadness. He does not want to see Facundo live through something like that again. He is on the verge of losing everything in his life because María is everything and he will never forgive himself. Facundo cries.

Rocío is on bedrest at home with her family around her. When she awakens, she wants to know what Isabel is doing there. She does not want to see her. Santiago tells Isabel to leave her alone. A stiff and hurting Isabel gets up amd leaves the room. She asks for Beto. Felipe says he will be coming over soon. Rocío tells Santiago that Isabel's craziness has to stop once and for all whether he likes it or not.

Part 4

Infighting among criminals: Fina and Estefany are having a discussion over the one piece of Velasco furniture that was sold. Fina says how was she supposed to know whom she was selling it to. Estefany is now worried they could end up in jail. It is clear one won't be going to jail without dragging the other ome with her,.

At María's shop, Isabel has the nerve to pay her a visit and wants to talk. María syas they have nothing to talk about and asks if she would like to be thrown out. In the middle of her crazy rambling, Isabel recognizes the piece of furniture that was robbed from her home,as well as a poece of scilpture. She accuse María of stealing them from her home. She will file charges against her. María says that they were fifts from Rocío and Beto. She tells Isabel to get out or be removed.

Isabel is talking nonsense with Rocío. She says she is talking about her furniture. She calls Beto a "cuatrero" someone who robs cows from ranches. Rocío, already told her the furniture icame off the internet. Isabel insists they are hers. Felipe says it is better if she leave now since Rocío needs to rest.

Beto and Facundo are having a talk. Beto is angry because he asked Facundo not to hurt his mother in the first place. Beto asks his father straight out if he loves Isabel. Facundo says Isabel is a very attractive woman but she is prohibited. He is not planning on losing his family for a woman who is simony not worth it. He explains Isabel had climbed on top of the wall and fell down. Beto asks "like the toads" of the Apocalypse.?

Back at the Velasco's, isabel, Santiago, Felipe and Alejandra are all in the living room. Isabel is insisting that Rocío is a thief and belongs in a mental hospital. Felipe defends Rocîo. Santiago asks to talk to Isabel alone. Isabel is drinking and not interested. Santiago takes away her wine glass and tells her that he and the children have come up with a decision with respect to her: if she does not change her attitude, she will be out of the house.

Estefany and Fina are arguing about the furniture. Fina had all of the furniture delivered to Estefany'z apartment. She is not going to get caught with it in her family's warehouse. They didn't sell at the market. It was Estefany's idea. She is not going to jail. She is out of there. Estefany can deal with it. The bigger pieces that could not fit through the door were left downstairs at the entrance, She will bring Estefany cigarrettes when she is in jail.

Part 5

Isabel is telling Santiago that they will have to get the police or firefighters to throw her out of her own house. She is indignant. He says he does not want her to go but the kids made him promise he would put certain conditions on her staying. Santiago givies Isabel the conditions she has to meet: Isabel will have therapy with a psychiatrist, help out around the house, stop drinking, stop pursuing Facundo and (Santiago adds) stop tormenting them, please. Santiago is crying at this point thinking how he could have lost her with her climbing all over and falling. She needs to learn how to control herself. He is afraid of losing her.

Santiago arrives at Estefany's apartment and does not believe what he sees. He saw some of his items down at the apartment building's reception desk and now this. What is Estefany doing with his stuff???

Jarifa

Thank you, Jarifa! Another wonderfully detailed recap.

Both Facundo and Isa had their situations clearly laid out for them. Isa will lose her family if she doesn't get herself under control, and Facundo will lose his family if he doesn't get his head on straight. Can either or both of them pull it together?

Loved the talk between Porfirio and Fac. Porf still seems to be hiding something about what happened with his wife. My current theory is that his wandering eye caused her to pack her bags and leave, taking their youngest child with her. Just speculation based on the clues we've been given. In any case, he's learned from experience, and Fac needs to take heed.

Something has definitely changed in Maria. Who pointed out yesterday that this means a power balance shift? Well, we saw that with Fac being the one ousted from the bedroom this time. Maria was breaking my heart though when she was crying.

Thanks, Jarifa. Terrific recap.

Loved Maria standing her ground with Fac. Hope she can stick to it.

Vivi, I too think Porfirio's wife left him. There's guilt in his sadness, so it's probably more than just her dying. I can't see Porfirio letting a child of his grow up without him though, but maybe he had no choice.

Like Beto asking his dad straight up (again) what he feels for Isa. Fac seems to feel it's okay being in love with Maria while having an attraction for Isa. Can't wait to see if he's willing for Maria to have the same situation between him and Florencio. Hah, of course he won't! And I can't wait to see it.

I hope we see more of the San Bartolo crew. I liked Big Belly and the stealing cousins.

So glad Rocio's issue was resolved quickly and Beto knows Hilda was behind it. I'm done with Hilda. No redemption for her.

Is Estefany angling for Maria to hire her? Maria, keep your head and stick with Rocio.

Thanks Jarifa for the recap and clearing up the whole furniture internet interaction between Steph and Fina. I didn't know what was going on there or why Isa would find her furniture in the boutique.

Looks like my prediction of Esteban saving Rocio with a rare blood type didn't come true, and I'm glad too it was resolved quickly. Bye-bye Hilda.

Niecie, I think too that Steph is looking for a job with Maria. I hope we see a few customers soon because this sure doesn't seem like a viable business.

With all the Rocio handholding with Isa and Santi, how did they miss the ring?? I kept waiting for an explosion from Isa.

Time to hop a horse to the city Florencio.

Lola

Vivi, it was great seeing that Facundo was the one having to leave the bedroom. I wonder what his next interaction with Isabel will be like now that he knows what true the cost is/has been.

Niecie, I also wondered if Estefany was looking for a job at María's store. She reminds me of a cat with the proverbial nine luves.

Lola, welcome to our patio! You made such a good point about Isabel and Santiago not noticing the engagement ring. I wonder how long they will be unaware of the engagement.

Jarifa

What bothered me last night:
Beto knows that Hilda was the one who poisoned Rocío but his reaction is to tell her she could end up in jail and then he does not call the police????? His acceptance of the petty thievery of the cousins as a matter of fact was bad enough but this???? Should not his loyalty be with the woman he had just asked to marry him?

What I loved:
Granpappy Porfirio's talk with Facundo. His "Life is like a rat . . ." comparison was pure Granpappy but so true.

What I have had enough of:
Isabel crying. Will she get with the plan?

What I am looking forward to:
The arrival of Florencio asap.

Jarifa

Hey Lola! Maria's store isn't yet open. She still in set up/stocking inventory phase.

Jarifa, I so admire the comprehensive, well written recaps you write. Your attention to all details is amazing and greatly appreciated. We watched the same show yet you culled all the heartfelt emotion and events and related them to perfection.

I was extremely upset by Maria's crying as well Vivi. Did she overreact?? I thought about it and think not. She has seen and heard too much and in truth, Facundo should have extricated himself from any interaction with Isabel. Period. I wonder how long her newly found steely resolve will last.

Facundo has not been terribly secretive about his crush either. As you noted Niecie, his feelings for Isa not unnoticed by Beto.

Whatever happened with Porfirio certainly has left him saddened. I hope Facundo wants to change. It's up to him.

Lola, I also hope Maria does not hire Este. Never let a viper into your nest.

Diana

Diana, I am just happy you all are enjoying the recaps.

I thought María's reaction and crying was totally appropriate: from destroying the dress (jarifa: rather than Facundo's person), to the smeared eye makeup, to telling Facundo the truth of her feelings for him, to kicking him out of their bedroom. I thought it was very well done and realistic. Hope she keeps strong. Maybe Florencio can help her with that. I have such high expectations. I hope he doesn't turn out to be a jerk.

Jarifa

Wonderful recap!

I hope at some point we get the full back story of Porfirio's relationship with his wife. Does Fac know he has a sibling out there? Or is it possible the sibling died with the mother? She died when Fac was young so she herself couldn't have been very old. Maybe she died before Porfirio was able to win her back and that's why he has so much guilt.

I too hope Florencio isn't a jerk but if he comes looking for Maria that means he doesn't have a wife at home. Could he have been pining for Maria for 20 years? I guess we will find out soon.

Glad the Rocio thing wasn't too serious.

Estefi with all of that furniture is too funny. I bet she tries to sell Santi the story that she bought it all back for him.

Maria, Maria. How do you solve a problem like Maria? Her crying was heartbreaking while she tore up her beautiful dress. And I just didn't feel like Fac was remorseful enough. And he dodged Beto's question of being in love with Isa. Though I don't believe he is. I hope Maria's resolve sticks. I also hope she enjoys working at the store and finds some comfort in it.

Jarifa, yes - Maria's action was appropriate and justified. It was well done, ITA. However, it was perhaps a tad bit too realistic. My heart sank. But as you noted, there may be silver lining in Florencio. As I'm always wrong, I won't hazard a guess as to whether he is good or not but as long as he leaves Fac seething with jealousy, I'm all for it!! ;)

These recaps are wonderful.

Diana

Carvivlie, that beautiful, beautiful dress.

I kept hoping Maria ripped up the "stunt double" dress and that the original is safely tucked into a closet where it will be worn and admired as it so deserves!

Diana

Carvivlie, that would be funny if Estefany were to try to tell Santiago she had bought back the furniture for him. Estefany and Santiago could have been the perfect couple! They sure share the same conniving nature and warped ethics.

Jarifa

Thanks Jarifa. Another ep that I wasn’t looking forward to. I only saw the last segment. I needed to read your awesome recap first, so I’d know what to expect when I watch the rest of the ep.

They need to insist that Isa see another therapist.

Bingo, Maria!!! Fac has been encouraging Isa by not discouraging her. And that crap to Beto about Isa being attractive. It’s more than that. He’s a flirt—but his behavior towards Isa has been more than flirting.

Nanette

Bring on Florencio!!!!!

Nanette, María sure hit in on the head about Facundo encouraging Isabel. He never can muster up quite enough strength to give her the complete heave ho and that teeny bit of ambiguity is what keeps her coming on back. I have a feeling Facundo is going to be paying for his "ojo alegre" days for a good long time if not forever. At least I hope so. Makes you wonder what other experiences María had with him back in San Bartolo El Chico.

Jarifa

Rocio might be out re: the store when the engagement becomes known.

They'll probably make Florencio a jerk so we can't help but root for Fac.

Thank you, Jarifa. I had trouble understanding Maria so your detailed recap helped.

Looking forward to seeing what Florencio is like.

Sara, I sure hope Florencio appears soon. Let us hope El Panzón does not waste anytime telling him the news.

Jarifa

I'm really tickled that you and Marta are getting the great episodes! We're in good hands with you both :-)

I'm afraid Nanette might be right and Florencio is a jerk. :-(

OT to Nanette: I've been binge watching "Girl". It is soooo good! Thank you for the recommendation!

"We're in good hands with you both" just like we are in good hands with you!

Jarifa

Jarifa-You always make me feel better. Thank you.

But I did mean it, everything was happening so fast and furious the last two days I would have been lost! Gosh that party was fun.

You know the feeling you get when a good TN is over? I almost feel that way about the party episode.

I am really looking forward to Marta's recap and the talk about Florencio.

Sorry, Sara, I do not buy that you would have been lost. You would have done a great recap like you always do!

Jarifa
