La Sombra del Pasado #117(US, Mx 120) 7/30/15 I suck at titles
Aldonza vows to find out the truth about her father's death.
The search party that looks a little bit like a possee looks for Em. Mudo finds Em's shirt draped on a branch.
Candela whines because Cris is not at her side. He cares more about Em than he cares about meeee!
Ren tells Aldonza that it's going to be hard to solve Ray's death and prove who did it. It's been years. And if she's going to accuse Sev, she might want to have some proof.
Em is passed out near the waterfall at El Santuario. I wonder if there are any outtakes from this scene. I bet they're funny.
Val has lines about Em. Hum comes up and Cande manages to turn that around to "hey, have you had that ultrasound yet?"
Mel tells Adelina and Aldonza that Em has been found and taken to the clinica.
Padre goes to see Cande. She's afraid of losing her son's affections. Padre J encourages her to find her way back to the person she once was. Padre runs into Sev on his way out. Sev flips his lid. Padre J says it was CANDE who he was here to see and it's HER house, NOT SEV'S.
Sev hightails it to Cande's room and yells at her about Padre J's visit. Cande reminds him that it's HER house and she can have whoever she wants come visit. A screaming match ensues. Blame is thrown. Eventually Cande gets around to screaming that this Em situation is all Aldonza's fault. She's the one that had Ray exhumed. Sev is cara de oh shit and flashbacks.
Val goes to see Hum. I think she has word salad lines that equate to giving Hum hell about being Sev's flunky. Blanca calls to interrupt her. Thank God. I'm just tired of her. Hum jumps to the ready and heads to the clinica.
Renato updates Silvia about Em. She's rightfully pissy about Ren's behavior. Her relationship with Tomas is not his business. She and Ren are never going to happen, so what business is it of his who she goes out with. She has fun with Tomas and he treats her like a queen.
At the clinica Aldonza frets about Em. I think Hum said he had alcohol poisoning, but he's out of danger and conscious now.
Mel updates Sev. (I'm twelve so the way they cut off the scallops of the fountain look like boobs or testicles. Take your pick.)
Aldonza and Cris go to see Em. It doesn't go well. He is despondent and starts to cry. They leave. Outside they discuss where Em can stay. Cris is ready to take him to a hotel if need be. Aldonza wonders if maybe he could stay with Joaquin. Adelina isn't sure since Flavia is back. Joaquin shows up on queue. Aldonza takes advantage to ask Joaquin if Ray had any enemies. Ray only had one: Severiano Mendoza. He hated Ray because he had El Santuario.
Pru and Val talk about Em. All I got out of the conversation was this line from Pru to Val: "Face it honey, Em is a Mendoza. UNLIKE that baby you're carrying." If they said anything earth shattering or revealing. Please let me know.
Sev goes to see Det Icompetente. I think he wants his gun back. Aldonza barges in and demands that the two bullets from Ray's body be compared with Sev's gun. (And if they match? Who cares? Chain of custody? Ever heard of it? Those bullets don't mean sqaut.) Aldonza thinks a match will prove that someone killed her father. Sev threatens to sue her for defamation. Sev wants his gun back. He blusters about Det. Incometente believing a crazy WOMAN over the great and powerful Sev.
Cris is back from the clinica. Just in time to hear Cande whine about how he's not paying attention to her.
Det Incompetente explains that they can try to compare the bullets. But they were fired so long ago. It would be an amazing coincidence if they matched Sev's gun. And right now Sev's gun is with the judge in Adriano's case(?)
Silvia goes to see Tomas and apologize for Renato's behavior. She did have a great time, but reminds Tomas they are just friends. Tomas asks "with benefits?" Silvia finally breaks down "OK. Con poquitos derechos." They kissy kissy. Unbeknownst to them, Pru is watching.
Ren finishes up with Aldonza. The animals they are going to raise will be arriving at El Santuario. She leaves and Pato comes into the station.
Seve and Aldonza clash outside the station. Sev tells her to leave it alone. She is going to wake demons.
Pato pokes fun at Ren about the jealous fit and punching Tomas. Pato reminds Ren that Slivia is a grown woman. Let her live her life. Apparently Ren can't do that.
Cris prepares for his shower. He thinks about times with Em. Val sneaks into his room and snoops. Dom catches her and tosses her out. It was AWWWWE-SOME(™hellashelle.) Then they get into a screaming match in the hallway. Val calls Dom an igualada. It gets Cande's attention.
Slivia and Tomas are having a good ol' time in her office. Ren apologize to Tomas. Did Tomas tell Ren he hits like a vieja? Tomas accepts the apology. Tomas has to go. Mari reminds Silvia of some appointment with a client at some cafe.
Cande tells Val she's not allowed in Cris's room unless she's been given permission. It burns Val's butt that Cande took Dom's side. I'm sure something important was said. Fill in. Cande tells Val not to tell her what to do. (Speaking of igualadas.....)
Seve flashes back and experiences phantom pain.
Padre J talks Em into staying at the parish house.
Lola and Aldonza talk about Pato. Blech. It's all BS. Things are fine, Lola claims. Aldonza knows Lola is dying. Whatever.
Em is settled in at PJs. Em wants to know how he gets used to the idea of being Sev's son. Padre tells him that Aldonza and Cris aren't at fault. They are suffering, too.
Silvia's waited, but her client never showed up. On her way back to the office, she's attacked. The culprits take her phone. Did the spray mace in her eyes? I was writing.

The bullets recovered from Raimundo's remains were fired by a gun Sev owned, but I doubt it's the one currently in police custody. After Sev and Roberta covered up the crime scene with arson she buried the murder weapon and the leather jacket that Sev had worn earlier in the night. She dug that gun up several years later and it failed to fire. I don't remember what happened to it after that.
So any test on those bullets now is meaningless unless Sev reclaimed and rehab-ed the original murder weapon. He might have owned several identical ones, but we don't know that.
Urban- It is the same gun that shot Ray that Lardo stole from Sever, after Sever recovered it from Roberta after she dug it up and tried to shoot him. That's why Sev is so worried.
I think Ren did make Al aware that even if it's the same gun, they can't do much about it all these years later. But she just wants to know. There's value in knowing who is the murderer of your father, even if you can't do much about it.
Loved Dom telling Val off and telling her to stop shamelessly offering herself up to Cris. She knew Val was about to get nekkid and hop in that shower with Cris. And if Val hasn't learned by now that the second most important person in Cande's life is Dom, then she's an idiot. Between Dom and she, Dom's going to win every time.
Al was trying to convince Lola to at least speak with Eman to clear the air, and close the circle with him if she was going to insist on being with Pato. But if she didn't do that then her feelings for Eman would just linger without closure, which isn't fair to Pato.
I didn't remember Sev recovering that gun, so thanks, Vivi.
There was slight solace in the not so subtle put-downs of Sev by both Cande and the Padre strongly stating that only Cande can deny entrance and evict guests of her choosing as after all she, not Sev IS the owner. Sev is so slick (oily, certainly not suave) when he tries to lay on the charm with that lopsided smile as he did at the police station. I agree, it was very gratifying to see him worried about the gun, as well he should.
I enjoyed Pato's ribbing of Renato regarding Silvia. While I (almost regretfully) do not think she and Tomas will end up together, I'm glad she is enjoying herself as Tomas sparks her life with fun and laughter, something Renato seems to have forgotten all together in his tunnel vision quest for Aldonza.
Vivi, I wish Lola had heeded Aldonza's advice and had spoken to Eman. Eman now appears beaten and utterly defeated. There are times when words are absent that show the greatest heartache. His silence was more upsetting than if he'd screamed in anger and frustration.
It appears Hum and his entire family is disaster bound. His faithless, loveless cruel wife as well as his lying, vengeful daughter. Similarly, it appears only Cris will escape his family's likely terrible ending.
Sara, thank you for yet another terrific recap.
Diana
Val is becoming ridiculous. Or reaching new depths of ridiculousness maybe. I'm pretty sure someone who was just about to open a bathroom door without knocking doesn't get to call anyone else a metiche! And then she insisted on trying to get back in there? And went to go tell her tia that Dominga was being meeeeeeeean? Uh, ok.
Cande, likewise repetitive. Though, she's welcome to repeat "This is MY house!" to Sev as many times as she wants to. That never gets old :)
I feel like Det. Incompetente doesn't really think the bullets came from Sev's gun, but he's going to do the test because he's tired of Aldonza berating him. I'm sure he'll be surprised when the tests come back saying the bullets were fired from Sev's gun, but as you, and he, said--there's nothing he can do about it.
I'm pissed that they messed with Silvia. It could just be because I can't stand Mari, but...was there something suspicious about the reminder about the meeting and the client not showing up and Silvia just happening to get accosted? And also, is it too far-fetched to think Sev hired those guys?
Pobre de Emanuel. Vivi, I don't know whether weepy and catatonic is better than angry and drunk. I have a feeling he's not going to be done with either of those for a while. How, indeed, does one come to terms with having Sev for a father?
Maybe more tomorrow. Thanks again, Sara!
Diana
Hugs would have done wonders for Eman. But in fairness, Aldonza may have felt giving him space was what he needed, especially after the way he treated her when she told him he was her brother.
Diana
HOLY CARP IT DIDN'T EVEN CLICK TO ME THAT PRU WAS BEHIND THE ATTACK!
well duh! *facepalm*
I agree that Candela would have been light years better off had she divorced Sev at the outset. She was young, rich, and beautiful; she could have had her pick of wealthy men to marry if that was what she wanted. Or just raise Cristobal alone. Her choice to maintain the marriage for appearances' sake was completely wrong both for her and Cristobal. Of course, then we would not have had a story.
Emanuel would be better off shouting, yelling, throwing things than in his current state of catatonia. At least he would be communicating and someone might have a chance of getting him to listen. This turning inward will not help him. He needs a shrink badly.
"Hum jumps to the ready"
"She's rightfully pissy"
"I'm twelve so the way they cut off the scallops of the fountain look like boobs or testicles. Take your pick"
That gd Pru, please don't let that be acid but totally within Pru's wheelhouse. She would do a little jig over a disfigurement and blindness. She stoned Aldonza in the street and just tried to lynch and burn down her house and out on bail.
Wait just a minute, how is it Renato gets to be all butthurt over both Aldonza and Silvia equally.
Doesn't bother me Aldonza and Cris are giving Emanuel some space, he's known this for all of one day. I don't want Lola to be the one flying in and licking his emotional wounds. She has never supported him and to now, because he is a "somebody", to me, opportunistic.
While it may work out for plot sake, the gun Roberta used to kill Ray was an automatic and a revolver was used to kill Abelardo.
Diva at 11:00, I think you are absolutely right about Mari's involvement and this meshes perfectly with my theory of Pru as the "mastermind" behind the attack on Silvia:
it was her secretarial incompetence that allowed it to happen. Like maybe Pru called and pretended to be Mr. whoever's assistant to find out where Silvia would be and Mari gave the info up too easily.
They had better not blind and disfigure Sylvia! That is SOOO something Pru deserves herself! If they do, it will be a clear sign of misogynistic punishing of a smart, professional woman who actually does her job instead of giving the audience constant boob shots and upskirts! Uuuuuuf! I'm mad already!!
Dominga rocked last night!
Sev's "cara de oh shit" was priceless.
It never occurred to me that anyone was behind the attack on Silvia. Well, duh!
I am still worried about Eman.
In the scene where Silvia & Tomas were walking down the street, he in his mechanic's jumpsuit and her in a twirly skirt & high heels, for a minute there I thought they might break into a musical number from Grease.
"Wait just a minute, how is it Renato gets to be all butthurt over both Aldonza and Silvia equally."
He would fit in very well in a polygamy culture.
Seriously, Aldonza became more of a bad habit for Ren. I've wondered, for a few months, if he would end up falling for Silvia. None of this behavior has surprised me. REMEMBER WHAT Pad Jer told Silvia? Let it go, find some other love, love will find you...blah blah blah or whatever he said. She did just that and this is how it goes. (well, PadJer's counsel went that way for me, 39 years ago. Bad breakup, I swore off men for six months, started hanging with the new neighbor the next day --- [he always kept M&Ms & Hershey's Kisses out in a bowl! I swear I kiept going over there for the chocolate! Te lo juro!] --- and a year later we were married)
It also didn't occur to me that Pru was behind the attack, but now that you mention it, it did look like hot sauce and not mace, like I originally thought and that seem more like something Pru would instigate.
Eman has to go through the grieving steps. First denial, anger, bargaining, depression, then acceptance. But I'm not sure which one he's on right now. We've seen anger, maybe the catatonic state is an in between state.
Yeah, I took it that the town lush was behind the attack on Sylvia and for that Pru is going to need a big anvil. She may have just been annoying. crass, cruel and manipulative in the past, but she took it one step too far now. Stand her up next to her daughter and let's see if there is a two for one sale going on with Anvils right now.
Because Val took on Skank-ho to a whole new level. I actually realized I was cheering Dom on a little too loud as I watched that.(Son came out of the laundry room and just looked at me like I had totally lost it.) She so wants to be the lady of the manor...never going to happen. But we did get some shirtless moments last night...for that we are thankful on the patio. Been a bit skimpy on those.
Gotta say, Alex S. is killing it as he plays through this E-man reveal. The sobbing in the hospital, yeah I had to get up and get something of the fruity variety to drink. That was just heart breaking. And I do wish there had been a little more from Cris and Allie too at the hospital-- something of comfort as they walked out even like "we love you, we are here for you when you are ready...", but I"m sure the writers are saving for some big hug/sibling moment. At least finding him sobered Hum up. But darn, I thought we could get a Simonetta sighting while he was at the waterfall.
They are really hitting home the fact that the house( and adjoining stables, etc) are Cande's. I think that is going to be significant in what happens to the place. C'mon woman, make things good with people if you are so God-fearing and give it to the boys...like NOW, and kick that scum-bucket Sev to the curb. He needs to twist in the wind more before his final doom.
But if Sev is worried about the truth on the gun, he might as well spill it that it was Rob who shot Ray and give Allie a hit between the eyes? And E-man since it would reveal their mother as a killer. Ade is the only one who is out there to say yeah or nay based on what her sister told her, and she's so good at hiding things she'll just start sobbing and running from the room and Allie will know it's the truth. That should seal it between aunt and niece and Sev would be off the hook. Doubt it plays out that way, but it would seem logical from his perspective.
Lord, how much hang-dogging by Lola do we have to take?
Love that EM is at PJ's. The healing house.
Daisynjay
I'm just reading the comments and getting mad, nodding my head in agreement and saying "yeah, what about that!"
I'm also wondering where Renato had the right to say anything to Silvia.
I really feel like Em has the right to respond the way he is. OK, maybe not so much the anger at Aldonza and Cris. But I'm in the audience. He already had so many issues about his self worth and identity. This was an expected reaction to me.
Working in my classroom today. See y'all this afternoon.
Silvia is too much woman for this show and consistent with this and other TN's the writers don't know what to do with one. If Renato comes sniffing back around that is somehow a big win for her, wtf?
Stuff I liked about last nite's ep:
1)They found Em.
2) moma Dom kicked a**
3) Val got her lyin a** handed to her by a sweet ol soul.
4) Its always good to see cande suffer, and she can't get up and walk away. Tho I see now she can walk a bit. That's good, then she can be up and about when she gets knocked back off her queeensize arse again.
I hope somebody grabs that big fowl mouth pru and........... I can't stand her. And ya'll know she's responsible for what happened to silvia.
"Face it honey, Em is a mendoza. Unlike that. Baby youre carrying". Face it sara, thpsr two po hoes sin't said nothing earth shattering.:-)
I am disappointed that Don did not pull a tiny vial of pepper spray out of her crossbody bag and give that little squirt a little squirt. On top of being spoiled and ruthless, Vile is dumb, dumb, dumb. Do not mess with Dom, Dummy, she is the closest living being to Candy besides sonnyboy. Dummy. She is not like all the other servants you so care!ess!y and callously kick around. Dummy.Cris rejects her at every turn, but that girl is persistent and ready to try the always popular telenovela ploy " getting in the shower with the galan."
So sorry poor Sylvia was attacked. Girl cannot catch a break. She needs a very sunny, happy ending as a reward for her !kya!ty and intelligence and patience.
Hum is a tragic figure. I think that he is not truly evil but rather lazy and weak...a perfect tool for Sev's evil plans.
Sonetimes, you are too sad for tears or talk..that is a very scary situation go be in. No one can help you..so why btalk. You try nktbtyo feel anything. You have to decide if you can or want to go on. I think that E is trying to process this new information . I think that he will be all right eventually with the help of Al, Cris, Padre, and...Lola. Meh. I wish Lola would grow up and stop acting and ta!king !ike a 12 year old.
I hope the Univision doesn't chop up any more of the remaining episodes because there are still other things left to reveal:
-- The truth behind Raimundo's death
-- Mari starting Emanuel on the road to alcoholism
-- Mari trying to frame Lola for theft
-- The paternity of Vile's bun
-- Sev's real estate scheme
-- Nava and Sev's forging of the horse ownership documents
-- The rest of the truth about Emanuel's birth (e.g., Candela's involvement)
-- The truth behind Abelardo's murder (along with the truth behind the arson of Aldonza's condo)
-- Simoneta's murder
-- Aldonza's rape
Did I forget anything?
Metro schools (adjacent county) start back on Monday, our county public schools start the following Monday.
Where did the summer go???
I know I sound like a broken record, but it's absolutely absurd to have Cande constantly asking where Cris is and needing him to stay home. I hope these actors are getting a good laugh at how ridiculous it is.
Gobluefan, in the Spanish CC's, they were referring to Aldonza as Alfonsa, and Eman as Juan Manuel. You just know that we've got some inept CC writers when they don't even know who the characters are.
I agree that Pru must be behind the attack on Silvia.
I am enjoying watching Sev's facial expressions go from arrogant self assurance to doubt, to fear.
If anything, Cande is getting worse with her controlling ways, it seems to me.
Dom RULED last night with her interaction with Val, AND CANDE BACKED HER UP!!!
Thanks again, Sara. If it weren't for you and the other recappers, I think I would have stopped watching this by now.
David
Diva - I think yesterday was #116. We skipped a number.
I blame it all on Univision.
Getting back to Candela, the guilt-tripping due to health is a popular tactic of controlling mothers. In this case she's had a real accident that has painful results and isn't faking her pain. However, it is still inappropriate for her to do this to Cristobal because under other circumstances, wouldn't he be busy on the ranch?
UA, my guess is we won't ever see a direct repercussion of Mari's doings in the past against Lola and E-man except that HOPEFULLY, she is treated like a pariah and left with nothing. I still have some horrid feeling that there will be some light bulb "I'm so sorry for being a brat all my life" and then she gets sweet Pato or a much better ending then she deserves. And I blame that on the fact she has what are regarded as the one set of decent parents and being they lost Lardo, can't have them lose Mari as a witch either. She's still on my dart board though.
TN writers have not and doubt will in the near future know that a smart, well functioning young woman doesn't have to get the 'prize" of one of the guys in the story who isn't really the perfect fit because well, doesn't every woman deep down just want a hubby and babies??? Maybe one day, but Sylvia is going to be teamed with someone, we can count on that. All clues are now pointing to Ren which I cry fowl because he broke it off with her even before really knowing Allie. Now all of a sudden she's the real thing? Yeah, right. Makes a good guy look like an emotional jerk and she comes off like, well...you know.

I will not be able to watch tonight, so I will be anxiously awaiting the recap.
...still just Susanlynn
BUT--
Did anyone else besides me wonder why Don Ant and Vero weren't at the clinica when they brought Eman in? The two of them had just been at the celebration party and were enjoying themselves, so it isn't as though they left SL or were hard to find. Maybe they were busy wrapping up QA, but that doesn't excuse them from being by the side of someone they really care about in Sombra.
Daisynjay
(And if they match? Who cares? Chain of custody? Ever heard of it? Those bullets don't mean squat.) THANK YOU!!! How/Why did Ren not bring this up? Someone on the patio brought it up yesterday - why weren't the police informed when the cremation turned up bullets? I know, I know: Tighten beanie and proceed with caution.
I read Lola's comment as "I'm kind of embarrassed to talk to him. After the shove at the cantina when he didn't pay me any mind I realized 1) I don't know how to help him 2) I lost the privilege of trying when I believed Mari over him before. I lost his trust."...I'm giving her too much credit, aren't I?
I applaud Aldonza's efforts, but I'll admit that yesterday all I could think about was how I'd feel if I had to tell my nieces that their father, who died in 2012, had been murdered by their mother. Because she was protecting her lover. Who then raped them. And then pretending to be their father. In this situation, my brother is the deceased, not the murderer and yesterday I didn't think I could do it.
Today is a different story. If the girls were adults, I think I could tell them that especially if I thought they'd go to the lover themselves. But I thank God I'm not in that position.
Anita - Maybe no one told Don Ant or Vero?
On another note: Cande is SuperCrayCray. I would be so beyond tired of her if I were Cris. I really wondered why he wasn't questioning her or anything as she laid there laying her guilt trip. I'm glad he didn't take it on and stay by her side all day, and maybe he was more concerned with finding Eman, but seriously, I want to here this:
Are you serious? You kidnapped my brother. You kidnapped a baby. You kept him from his mother, from his family. You hid him from me. You treated him like dirt under your feet. And for what? Because of something your husband and his mother did before he was born? That woman is dead. And you are still--STILL!-- punishing her children. Why? No, really, answer me: why?
Sputtering and silence.
And all the while my brother was begging for love and affection, the man that caused this whole mess was here, in this lap of luxury, still with you. And now you're here, surrounded by riches, with doctors waiting for your orders, servants to help with your every whim, and he's alone, suffering, and you STILL act like this? What is the matter with you? Emanuel shouldn't have to pay for our father's mistakes, or his mother's. If he does, then I hope God still listens to your prays because I can't imagine how high the cost will be that I have to pay for what you and my father have done.
On Candela divorcing Sev a long time ago. There may be various reason why she didn't. One, as I recall, was Sev sticking it to her that Las Animas was nothing until he took over management and brought in the horse business. That may have been very true. She may have been letting it go to rack and ruin. Two, it may have been in her tight-as-braids upbringing that if you married por la iglesia, you were married for life--for better or for worse and Sev was certainly THE worst--AND she thought she had him under control after the Roberta-Emanuel fracaso. But she traded avoiding the scandal of a divorce (in those days?, well, no, in Medieval Backwater Santa Lucia) and having to divide up the bienes for living "apart" from him, but "with" him. She knew she would always have Dominga, Melesio, Cris and the house, but that may just have not been enough.
Sara, teehee, I did notice the obscured fountain parts. I thought they were testicles rather than boobs. I guess that tells you where my mind goes (a Giant Italian David in the middle of Las Animas).
What Pru was talking to Val about in regard to Eman is that now he is a Mendoza and a likely better specimen if the Cris thing doesn't work out. Val shut down that line of talk immediately--especially when Pru referred to the Non-Mendoza escuincle she was carrying. She said Sev had shared with her that Eman was getting nothing.
Our David--"I am enjoying watching Sev's facial expressions go from arrogant self assurance to doubt, to fear." Isn't that the truth, though. He will probably blame it all going wrong on his phantom arm pain--or on Aldonza and PadreJ.
Doris--Cute story about your Chocolate Man. Aren't you glad you met your sweetie before Hershey changed the formulas and jacked up the prices?
Thanks everyone!
I'm finding myself pretty ambivalent about these Ultimas semanas. Maybe it's just the timing because I'm getting ready for the school year.
Just felt rather glum about last night's episodes...no romance, Emmanuel still suffering, Adelina still pussy-footing and evading, Silvia savaged and seriously injured. Telenovelas are sometimes an escape from harsh reality, but last night this seemed just as grim as the metro pages of the newspaper.
Need to get the ball rolling towards some happy endings. Was cheered that Humberto sobered up and was able to help Emmanuel. I still have a soft spot for our dejected, disillusioned doc.
Other than wanting happy endings, my only other request is SARA, PLEASE STAY 12 YEARS OLD! YOU'RE SO MUCH FUN AT THAT AGE!
As to the timing of the Ultimas Semanas, does anyone know when the next new Telemundo novela begins? Maybe Univision has chopped up a couple of episodes and done the extended thing to beat them to bringing in a new one?
"Losing Cristobal is the ultimate price." Might be on to something UA. The writers are just toying with usl, building up Cris' one after another revelation and then the ultimate shoe will fall. But still think it makes him look rather clueless now and a bit of a milquetoast.
Daisynjay
Telenovelas are sometimes an escape from harsh reality, but last night this seemed just as grim as the metro pages of the newspaper.
Darn it! I couldn't BELIEVE that had happened to Silvia! It is, like, soooo uneccesary! She's a beautiful and brilliant legal eagle, fearless and assertive and they have to do something to render her helpless, possibly permanently impaired, screaming and crying in the middle of the town square! WHY? I just can't help she's being "punished" for all those qualities I just named oh, and on top of that DARING to make her own choices about her personal life instead of sobbing and and wallowing in envy and grief everytime Aldonza's lap dog (Renato) goes sniffing after her! Renato was a reall ass last night, yes, ass with no dollar signs! The nerve! He's pissed because he wants to keep Silvia as a spare just in case Aldonza goes running back to Cris again! This had better be minor and temporary and the perp better be punished or I'm gonna be ROYALLY PISSED!!!!
Lila, I'm with you on this re: Silvia "If they do, it will be a clear sign of misogynistic punishing of a smart, professional woman who actually does her job instead of giving the audience constant boob shots and upskirts!" I'm with you at the Royally Pissed Off table just for having her get messed with in the first place.
doris, I like your musical idea :D and your story about the chocolates!
Urban Anthropologist, in theory, yes, Cris would be busy working and woudn't have time to just sit in Cande's room doing nothing all day. He's been very iffy on his "work" for the entire show...he works when he's not feeling too angry at his parents, and the minute he is he doesn't work anymore. I started to find it annoying from a resource standpoint--how many hands will we have today to get the work done--but Mel's smart enough to not count on Cris. If he happens to want to work, cool. If not, that's ok, they weren't counting on him anyway.
re: the timing, edits, and Telemundo. They just started a new show on Tuesday, so I don't think that factored in to Uni's plans.
susanlynn, I hope you're enjoying Toronto, wannabe-croissant-thieving ducks notwithstanding.
HellaShelle, I can't see Cris ever asking his mom those questions, so I will have to settle for imagining what you've written.
Hershey's probably put the windows up to keep people (like me) from jumping into the chocolate vats. (what a way to go!) I still enjoy a good Hershey's choc. bar over the pricey imports, too. Peanut M&Ms are my big weakness.
I am cracking up over Cande's black cervical collar. I've never seen anything but the standard Telerisa Horspittle-issue ivory. Leave it to Cruella to go all-out designer on us. Well, ivory is not her best color, since she is a "winter."

Vivi, are you sure you're not on the televisa payroll? Or related to Gringo?
Is this guy really the police chief? Isn't it weird that his job seems to be taking everybody's statements AND investigating everything AND running the police department? Hmmm...maybe that's another reason he's so cranky, overworked, and seemingly Incompetente.
I will cop to the tendency to analyze everything and be very critical, and I could try to say it's just a hazard of the profession, but really it's just the way I am. It happens to occasionally come in handy, but I'd probably do it anyway. It doesn't mean I'm not enjoying it, and I'm all for something being unrealistic and fun over realistic and not fun. For example, I seriously don't mind that those bullets shouldn't be considered as evidence of anything, if it means Sev gets busted. I'm totally going to harp on it for being unrealistic, but I'll be cheering all the same.
BABY,YOU PUT YOUR FOOT IN IT!!!!!!!!
Why don't the writers think of stuff like this?
