And Cheo needs to shut up and get off my screen.
Roque really disappointed me today.
Let me just start with the rocket. Sooo, the bank guy comes to interview Simon about the loan, but sees the rocket. Yes. a rocket. Simon has been obsessed with space ever since he saw the moon landing as a child on July 20 (oh! The irony!) So that's why he decided to study aerospace engineering. And he actually wants to launch this rocket.
Unfortunately Bank guy thinks Simon is crazy and therefore a bad risk.
Edwina doesn't think so. She wants to see Simon's rocket (er...not a code.) Props to the crew for building an interior of a rocket set, but they used tinfoil on something behind Edwina. I'm assuming they meant it as a joke.
Anyway...Edwina wants to convince bank guy that Simon is not nuts. I guess I've forgotten how they are going to do that because soon after explaining her plan she trips pulling Simon down with her (into a compromising position.)
Geez. The whole rocket thing is what's really stuck in my head.
OH! Isa is pretty much done with Antonio. Which freaks out Ema. Isa is rightly devastated. Natalia wants to take her out and try to help lift her spirits. They run into Ricardo who is out buying art books. Right now I am really only getting an antagonist vibe from Ricardo. He's duping Isa. And I fear the poor girl will get used. I'm already hoping for a happy ending for her.
Antonio called her at some point and it sounded like she pretty definitively broke up with him.
Padre Vicente and Sara went to a baptism at Nabor's where Antonio and Cheo catch up to them.
Antonio tries to explain things to Sara. My heart really broke for her when she said she would have slept with him without the job offer. She isn't the kind of person to use her body to get something.
Cheo and Antonio fight. Roque holds Sara back, which annoyed me.
It sounded like Cheo pretty definitively broke up with Sara.
So Sara seems free. And Antonio seems free.
But they both still have sads.
I don't know what happened between when Antonio left and Isa was telling him not to come back if he wasn't back to normal and when he called her, but that's what I got out of it too--that she decided she's not going to marry him.
And Antonio repeatedly said Sara had changed his whole outlook on life.
Did Sebastian and Natalia seriously just do the "no you hang up first" conversation?
I thought they were getting all middle school over on La Sombra!
New to me word- "chilena" is a scissor kick. Now I want to know why it's called a chilena.
Loved Sara calling Juancho Juan del Diablo, instead of his real name Juan de Dios. I think he needs a firm male hand. Maybe he should be sent to live with one of the tios.
Ok. I know that Antonio is a bit of a stick in the mud, and his demeanor could be warmer with the staff. But he was totally right to get worried and upset about a private document being left on a printer, with the staff having no idea how it got there. Add to that the fact that they all know these thefts have been happening and that Tono is basically fighting to keep the plant open and to save their jobs, then they should all be on board with doing everything possible to stay ahead of the thieves and keep their plans top secret. And I really didn't think that anything in his tone showed he was accusing Marina of being a spy. They just took it that way.
I agree with you Vivi. Antonio might be stiff but I don't think he was unfair to them. I'm glad that he's a competent go-getter professional, I just wish that he was a go-getter in his personal life as well.
And Antonio was hilarious as a drunk! He definitely had stuff to get out. What I like about this tn is that what's keeping the main couple apart are not dumb misunderstandings but issues that seem realistic. Antonio thought he was doing ok with his 4 year relationship then all of a sudden he meets a girl who knocks him off his feet & he doesn't know what to do.
I'm also liking Javi's character. He's cute, and he always seems ready to party!
Nachitos' wife seems the very definition of a harpy. I wonder how he was before he found this new zest for life. I find his "no way in hell am I going back into the rat race" attitude sooo funny. For a second there I thought Sara would work for him but I guess not.

I didn't entirely understand what Marina's bad day was about. I think I caught that someone was supposed to pay something and Marina ended up having to do it instead? Rent?
Mostly what I think Juancho needs at this point is to be the hell away from Cheo, but I wouldn't wish him on his uncles. The twerp.
Juancho is a total jerk. Blech.
I just got to that part.
And it sounded like something the other person did. Marina told them that she tried to warn them before they joined.
That was convoluted. I've been told I can be. ;-)
Speaking of better than what I could get...I didn't understand what Antonio said at the end of Friday's episode at all. He was all drunk-mumbly.
I have to watch this one with the Spanish captions. When I get to Friday's episode I'll report my findings. Unless someone else does.
Everyone is welcome. Sneaky? Are you still around?
I would hate for people to think Diva and I are being all exclusive and just talking to each other and leaving people alone.
And now I'm wondering whether this Marina/Josefina/tanda situation is ever going to come up again or if it's something that got thrown in just for the sake of "We need Marina to be having a bad day"?
Yes, definitely, whoever gets to the end and can make out the words. I'm just talking to the room at large.
I assumed the tanda thing was for her to have a bad morning. After his talk with Nachito, I think Antonio was going to try to be more friendly ( or at least more friendly for him) but that morning Marina just kind of waved his friendly greeting off. Maybe first impressions have set and he has to work that much harder to get rid of the orge attitude they see??
5ftLatina-what Antonio said at the end to Isabel on the phone (with Sara listening on) was that he misses the man he use to be with her.

Sucks to be Isa. If Ricardo weren't such a jerk, I'd find it charming that he's going to so much trouble to try to pretend he likes the same things she does. And now Antonio's mixed signals are more mixed than they already were.
The three guys drinking and dancing was two cute and it would be nice to see Antonio, Bruno and Javi become the three Bros like we had in DQTQTQ...sans all the drinking. I agree that their livers need to be kept safe.
Javi can bust a move. Not to shabby. Ballet even.
I feel quite sorry for Isa. She looks like she's falling for Ricardo's charms and I just hate that he's just playing her.
And even though it's not turning out to be a big story, I love Padre Vicente and Luisita (You just can't go wrong with Mariana Karr.)
So I have a question-This is supposed to run until February in Mexico, which could be March or early April here. I wonder if there's enough story to keep it interesting.
Amorcito had a lot of stories that kept me interested. And so far this one does too. In fact, more than DQTQTQ.
And there better be more to Madga than taking Vladimir to catechism class and making frijoles for Fidel. That would be a waste of Bibelot Mansur.
I'm waiting for Vladimir to have his moment of glory coaching one of the soccer teams.
I kinda like Nachito, too. Maybe his harpy wife could go away and he could find someone nicer?
And I think I'm going to be massively disappointed if Simon doesn't launch his rocket. I don't care how cheesy that turns out to be.
Nachito is going to go broke if he keeps trying to serve everyone for free. And his wife's "I'll bring you water and the container of instant coffee" has got to break some kind of record for Worst Customer Service Ever.
Where have I seen the actress playing Nachito's harpy wife before?
The three amigos were definitely the highlight of the episode.
Nacho's wife is a harpy for sure. I'm sure there must be more to her story. But her astonishing lack of customer service was funny-- make your own coffee, and one slice of sandwich meat between two slices of white Wonder/Bimbo bread, and nothing else. LOL!
I was surprised to find out that Edwina is Fidel's sister. Was this something revealed to the audience before? I have missed many episodes.
I'm about to head off to bed, but.... I'm pretty stoked about the Rafa story line.
They're raising the bar pretty high on this one. We already have adult relationships that don't avoid sex, and now we have a gay couple who aren't comic relief. Sweet!
Thanks for the tanda information too. Yeah that sounds totally risky!
Denise, that sounds like it would be a good idea if you could trust everyone.
I mainly just fast forwarded through the episode to jog my memory. I combined when I could. Please fill in.
Sara overhears Antonio telling Isa that he misses her and the man he used to be with her. Sara walks out.
Isa gets excited thinking that Antonio misses her. Natalia advises caution. “I miss the man I was with you” does not exactly mean “I love you.” Natalia thinks Isa is putting up with too much crap. Isa is convinced that things aren’t going well with Sara.
Bruno and Javi fill Sara in about the things Drunk-tonio said. Sara fills them in on what Drunk-tonio said to Isa. Bruno thinks maybe Antonio was just wishing for his life prior to Sara. Antonio had control of things with Isa, not so much with Sara. Bruno thinks that Antonio doesn’t know what to do with his feelings. Sara has turned his life upside down. Antonio can’t live without her, but he can’t live with her either.
Isa calls Antonio again. He’s still drunk. She talks about how compatible they are (citing the social class thing which irks me.) He falls asleep while she talks. He even snores.
The next day, Antonio is late for work and a very important meeting. Rafa and Marina scramble to find him and keep the people in the meeting occupied. At home, a hungover Antonio is just waking up and YIKES! It’s 9 o’clock!
Lic Uribe and Ingeniero Gutierrez discuss the dye for the gasoline. Gutierrez reports the incident of Antonio’s suspicion and the workers hanging the ugly banner. Lic Uribe mentions that Antonio has the power to fire anyone.
Sara and Simon continue to try and track down Padre Vicente, but he’s visiting a sick person and then spends the night at Nabor’s, so Sara will have to spend one more night with Simon...and next door to Antonio.
Natalia must be getting Bruno’s vibes. She continues to try and convince Isa that Antonio’s words were not a profession of love. Rather, he was saying he was comfortable with her. Nothing more. Natalia again says that if she were in the same position, she would have broken up with the guy already.
Antonio runs into Simon and Sara on their way back to the apartment. Antonio asks when she arrived in San Gaspar. He can’t remember the night before! She walks away in a huff. Simon tells Antonio to come talk to him later. Antonio is about to follow Sara when Rafa calls. Business comes first. Isa calls him. He doesn’t remember what he said to her last night either! He hangs up and heads back to Simon’s apartment.
Edwina calls Simon. The loan has been approved and he can pick up the check. As Simon leaves, Antonio stops him and asks what happened last night. Antonio realizes why his question about Sara’s arrival annoyed her. Simon tells him that’s not the half of it “she’s more annoyed by what you said.” Uh oh. Then Antonio wants to know what he said. Simon tells him to forget about it and asks Antonio if he’s willing to leave everything for Sara. Antonio’s silence is all the answer Simon needs. Antonio admits he’s confused. Simon gets deep “Sometimes when we can’t make a decision, life does it for us.” Simon excuses himself to go to the bank.
Rafa distributes reports to the members of the whatever they are.
Ricardo googles a watercolor exhibit. He calls Isa, but she yells at him assuming it’s Antonio. Ricardo asks if she wants to talk. She does. Ricardo puts his underling David in charge of some report. He tells David he’ll be back later.
Sara is a go getter. When Pedro and Laura arrive at the restaurant, Sara is already there and has put fresh flowers on all the tables. Laura loves it. Sara has also already gotten to know the chef. Laura also wants Sara to work with the suppliers. Pedro receives a call. Its Nelson. He’s found a document that may interest Pedro. They will meet later.
Antonio finally makes it to the meeting. The gas robberies are bad. The supplies are low and to make matters worse, the robbers are selling it at a lower price so Conatrol can’t compete and the sales are low. Antonio assures them he will take care of the problems. He asks for their vote of confidence and he receives it.
Edwina gives Simon his check. She thanks him for giving her a pasion...for aeronautica. She can’t stop thinking about it. Is that code?
Ricardo plays Isa. She cries on his shoulder. He wonders aloud if she’s really in love, or just with Antonio out of habit. Before he leaves, they share a lingering hug. He asks Isa to the art exhibit. He’ll come pick her up later.
Nachito comes to Conatrol to visit and pass out flyers for his new business. Everyone is happy to see him.
Rafa and Marina make cracks about Antonio’s hangover. He asks them to not comment on it. He’s going to eat and asks Rafa along. Marina reminds Antonio that they no longer have an agreement at El Molcajete (Pedro’s restaurant) so he’ll have to pay out of pocket. Antonio reminds her he was the one that cancelled that agreement. She asks him to sign the paperwork to get the AC fixed.
Nachito is still passing out flyers. He runs into Rafa and Antonio. Rafa comments on what a great tipo Nachito turned out to be. When he first arrived he was just as serious as...well, Antonio.
Sara knows how to present food. Presentation is important. In school she had a class with a Japanese chef.
Nelson delivers the document. We aren’t privy to what it says. Pedro calls “Carmelo” and says he has something important to show him. They will see each other tonight.
Nachito brings Marina a bouquet of flowers. Is Marina married? Can we get rid of Nachito’s harpy of a wife and get these two together?
Ricardo returns triumphant from his visit to Isa. He asks David to bring him the graphics Ricardo put him in charge of. They chat. Ricardo is no longer aiming for the vice presidency of Conatrol. He has his sights set on the daughter of a multimillionaire….and that’s Isa!
Rafa asks why Antonio cancelled the agreement with El Molcajete. Antonio gets a bad vibe from Pedro and his security guys. Rafa explains that Pedro does a lot of important business in the area. Rafa doesn’t find the security that odd. They are interrupted by raucous laughter.
Nachito and Marina are cuttin’ up in Ant’s office. Nachito had left a planner there before he left and they got to telling jokes. Ant isn’t laughing. Conversation turns to the AC. Nachito makes some calls. I missed the explanation of why the guy he wanted to talk to was called “El Peor es Nada.” Another employee comes in and asks Ant to help him with a scheduling problem. He wanted the second week off, but they gave him the first. Antonio refuses. The employee asks Ant to the wife and explain. Again, Ant refuses. Nachito has some lines I don’t remember.
Bruno and Simon are back from buying the truck. Bruno can’t wait to see Pedro’s face when the other farmers refuse to sell to him. Simon is a little worried. Pedro is Sara’s boss now. Bruno hopes Pedro is not as harsh in the restaurant as he is with the farmers. Bruno also can’t wait to see Simon’s rocket get launched.
Pedro gives Sara a list of all the suppliers. Pedro’s cell phone rings. It’s Rosendo Vazquez (another farmer, Simon fixed his tractor last week.) He wants to pay off his debt to Pedro. Not with his harvest, but with cash. He’s got 20 mil pesos. Pedro flips out. That’s not even half of the debt, not to mention interest. Sara is taken aback by his outburst, but quickly gets back to the paperwork. Pedro wants to know why Rosendo is suddenly changing the terms of the deal. Rosendo explains that he’ll be joining forces with Simon Esparza to sell his harvest at a better price than Pedro can offer. Pedro says they will talk later.
Antonio is working late. He calls Isa but she is out with Ricardo at the art exhibit. She decides not to take Ant’s call.
Bruno runs into Ant outside the apartment and tells Ant about the drunken fun they all had. Ant even sang opera! Ant looks a little embarrassed. Ant wants to talk to Sara, but she’s already gone. Bruno tells Ant that he understands that Sara has made Ant crazy. Bruno really wants to get along with Ant, but Bruno will not be able to stand by and watch Sara suffer on Ant’s account.
Ricardo drops Isa off at her apartment. He tells Isa that her paintings are much better. Blech. He doesn’t lie. Double blech. Isa says she admires his sincerity. Three times a blech. He gives her a kiss on the cheek. More Blech than I know what to do with. She goes upstairs and Ricardo comments that this is turning out to be easier than he thought. Blech overload.
Meanwhile, Antonio is calling and leaving a message on her phone. He apologizes for the morning. He misses her.
Carmelo thinks that maybe they can get some chemists to see if they can annul or revertir (revert) the dye. Pedro thinks the bigger problem is the sensors they are installing to measure the pressure. Feel free to jump in here. Pedro thinks Antonio is ruining everything. Carmelo asks if they need to eliminate him. Ruh roh!
Nacho said that they called the guy "Peor es nada" because he would take up with the homeliest female in the place and always say, "Peor es nada." That is, if I heard him correctly.
Denise
I agree, Isa's rundown of why they're "compatible" was kind of classist. And passionless. Like you could exchange either one of them for some other person of the same "class" who likes the same things. She's not even arguing for her own awesomeness, that no one else can possibly, I dunno, love him like she does or make him feel the way she makes him feel. I guess, on the plus side, she also didn't take it to the other extreme, but...something in the middle wouldn't have been out of line after four years.
Well, I guess Edwina has the passion that Isa lacks, ;) Ahem, for aeronautics. Like she said. Since she saw Simon's rocket. (Yes, I'm twelve.)
How long has the A/C thing been going on and seriously, all Nacho had to do was call some guy in maintenance?
Pobre de Rosendo. I hope Pedro doesn't do more than threaten, but that's not likely, is it?
Diva: I'm ashamed of myself for missing that rocket opportunity. And Nachito called a guy, but it was more like he left a message right? I'm not going to hold my breath that the A/C actually gets fixed.
Diva, ha ha ha ha ha!
Ack!! I don't think my inner feminist like that, either! Never settle, fictional ladies!
Everyone was talking sense and giving Sara, Antonio, and Isa good advice. Bruno perfectly described Antonio's feeling to Sara, and gave Tonio good advice. Simon and Natalia were also on point. Isa should dump Tonio for the way he's been treating her and walk away with her dignity; Tonio needs to decide what he wants and have courage enough to be honest with Isa; and Sara should just stay out of it and live her life, and if she still wants Tonio when he's a free man and knows what he wants, then that's her decision.
Poor Isa is falling for Ricardo's game. Blech, is right! Someone has to see through this guy. Will Natalia be astute enough to see this guy doesn't really care about her friend?
The Peor que nada line: I have a mental image of all of us laughing and then that line gets said. The record scratches and we are all
Not amused
The Refrito
Antonio finishes up his call to Isa apologizing for his dumbassery. He tells her he misses her.
Pedro and Carmelo discuss how to stop Conatrol from taking measures to keep the gasoline from being robbed (dye and pressure sensors.) Carmelo wonders if they need to make Antonio disappear….
Lo Nuevo
Pedro thinks that getting rid of Antonio is the last thing they need to do. It would just make Antonio a martyr. Besides, Control would just send someone else to try and fix the problem. No, their best bet is to try to use Sara Granados to pressure Antonio. Sara is the girl Antonio spent a week-end and she just so happens to be now working for Pedro.
Sara arrives on Simon’s doorstep. Vicente is at Nabor’s. Simon makes a joke about expecting company, but welcomes Sara when she says she can just get a hotel. Simon asks about Sara’s first day at work. She can’t understand why Simon doesn’t like Pedro. He wasn’t so awful. Simon explains that he doesn’t like how Pedro treats the farmers, but if he treated Sara well that’s all that matters. Simon also tells Sara about getting the truck. It should be delivered in a few days.
Isa listens to her messages. Natalia is staying with Sebastian. Isa’s father is in Germany on business. Ema can’t get in touch with Antonio and wonders how things are going with the lovebirds. Then she gets to Antonio’s message. She seriously doubt the part about being missed. Antonio’s actions have all said otherwise. She calls him anyway. She tells him she should have been more supportive when he left for San Gaspar, but all she’s done is complain and become yet another problem for him. He brushes off the apology and says he’s not been his best either. He was an idiot last night and doesn’t even remember what he said. Isa tells him. Antonio says “Well, at least that’s the truth.” She’s always been a remanso de paz (refuge of peace) for him. He says he feels so lost right now. Isa promises to be there for him. Antonio wants them to talk more. He’s going to arrange a trip to the DF.
There are no spoken lines in the next sequence, but I still found it to be... “powerful” is hyperbolic...but it was good. He gets ready for the day and as he leaves he notices the coffee cup that Sara brought him. He washes it and dries it. Then asks himself how to get Sara out of his life.
He and Sara are both leaving their apartments at the same time. He want to talk, but she walks away. The elevator door closes right as he rounds the corner. He takes the stairs and catches up to her in the lobby (which looks really cool. I want to live in that building.) He asks her if he said something stupid while he was drunk. Sara can’t believe he doesn’t remember. He really wants to know what he said. She says it doesn’t really matter. All that matter is that there is nothing between them. Antonio thinks she’s being hard and Sara says she is. She is going to continue to be so until Antonio sees her as the neighbor she was when they first met, the neighbor he detested. She walks away again with Antonio hot on her heels. He still wants to know what he said when he was drunk. She caves. He begged her to forgive him, he never meant to lead her on or make her suffer. “Well, do you believe it?” Antonio wonders. Sara tells him she does, but it doesn’t change things between them. Antonio thinks she’s still hiding something. She admits that he said and promised a lot of stupid things that he can’t follow up on. She also just wants to get back the person she was before. She asks him if that sounds familiar “I miss the man I was when I was with you.” Antonio finally gets it as Sara drives away. (They have to get rid of Sara’s ridiculous red heels.)
Ricardo calls Isa. He spent the night thinking of her. Isa tells him about Antonio’s call. She’s decided to give Antonio another chance, but she appreciates all the kindness Ricardo showed her. After the call, Ricardo gnashes his teeth. He was sure she was falling for him.
Antonio arrives for work and he is pleasant to Malina. Yay! Progress. Inspector Chavez (Fidel) wants to meet with Antonio. She’ll arrange it. The A/C is fixed!!! Good call, Diva, one call from Nachito did the trick.
Sara and Laura talk at El Molcajete. Pedro bought a computer for them. Elias delivered it because Pedro is busy with other business. Laura says her husband has lots of business in the region. One is with the farmers. He really doesn’t like to talk about all his businesses though. He bought the restaurant for her after she convinced him to do it so she wouldn’t get bored when he was away on business. Sara finds it odd that Laura never goes with her husband on his business trips, but Laura mentions again that Pedro stays pretty mum about his business. Laura has a favor to ask Sara. Laura asks if it’s possible for Sara to intervene so that the agreement….*conversation fades*
Pedro meets with an associate. The associate is paid in full and wants to know when the gas will be delivered. He’s heard rumors that there are problems. Pedro assures him it’s nothing he can’t solve. The underling that looks like Carlos de la Mota (The Sheik in Corazon Indomable) reports that he overheard Arnulfo saying that he was not going to sell to Pedro. Pedro calls Arnulo. Arnulfo tells him Simon can get better prices. Pedro yells and hangs up. Then he calls Jacinto and tells him to find two guys to follow Bruno and Simon. He wants their every move reported.
Rosendo (from yesterday) tells Simon and Bruno that he offered to pay Pedro 20 mil pesos and he wouldn’t accept. Luckily Rosendo did not sign anything saying he would pay his debt with his harvest. He’s safe. He can just sell with Simon and Bruno, make his profit and pay Pedro out of it.
Officer Fidel has his meeting with Antonio. He reports on the surveillance on the tube. They really haven’t found any clandestine valves. Fidel thinks they may need more manpower. Antonio doesn’t think that’s possible. Conatrol has some plans and he will let Fidel know when they are in place. Antonio changes the subject and asks why Fidel didn’t release Bruno and the others. Fidel answers with a question “Do you keep up with soccer?” Antonio doesn’t. Fidel brushes off the question about Bruno and leaves. Antonio wonders what soccer has to do with anything.
Antonio tours the facilities. When he gets back, Sara is in his office. She’s come on business and that business is the agreement with the restaurant. She there on behalf of the owner to see if it can be reinstated. It’s an awkward meeting. Antonio doesn’t like Pedro because of his armed guards and Sara uses the same lame excuse Rafa did - “He’s an important businessman” Antonio is too, but he doesn’t have armed guards. Antonio thinks Pedro smells of mafia and he’s worried about Sara working with him. Sara tells him to save his concern and leaves.
Bruno is on his way to apply for his commercial truck driving licence and runs into Fidel. He explains about the collective and then talk turns to soccer. Bruno totally knows Fidel took advantage of the noise complaint to keep Bruno out or the game. They make a bet on the next game between Padre Vicente’s team and Fidel’s. Pedro’s man watches.
Some other guy also calls to report Simon’s activity. Simon is at the deshuesadero (junk yard.)
Sara reports to Laura that she was unable to get the agreement reinstated. Pedro overhears and flips his lid. He didn’t ask Laura to do that. Stay out of it! This dude is really scary. Laura must have married him very young. She seems very cowed by him.
Isa feels guilty for breaking up with Ricardo. I know, I know they haven’t even started, but I don’t know any other way to put it. Isa confesses that Ricardo did distract her from Antonio at times. Natalia wonders if things are so secure with Antonio that Isa should be sending Ricardo on his way. Isa admits Antonio is still very cold.
Lic Uribe briefs Ricardo on the dye and pressure sensor plans. Ricardo is distracted, but pays attention after Lic Uribe notes the distraction. Lic Uribe wants Ricardo to prepare cost reports. They might be doing the same at other plants. Ricardo’s cell rings. He says he’s in a meeting and hangs up. We don’t know who it is.
Bruno and Simon talk about him getting his truck license. Bruno is going to talk to other area farmers. They will stick it to the coyotes paying them crappy prices. Bruno heads out for practice.
Edwina runs into Magda and Vladimir. She shows him the book she just bought. It’s a book about rockets. Vladimir likes rockets and wants to be an astronaut. Edwina offers to take him to see a rocket.
Antono goes to see Padre Vicente. He’s worried about Sara’s job with Pedro. Vicente thinks Pedro is good people and that Antonio is just looking for excuses to be near Sara. Antonios swears he’s just worried. Vicente thinks it just confuses Sara more every time Antonio comes near her. Padre asks Antonio to let her live her life and tells Antonio to live his.
Simon is happy to show off his rocket. His real rocket. No, the one he built. I’ll give up now.
Ricardo rationalizes that Isa is still into him and calls her. She was the one that called during the meeting. She apologizes for being hasty in saying they shouldn’t see each other. Ricardo is going to come by so they can talk.
They even have space sound effects!! Blah blah blah about rocket parts and how rockets work. Edwina is so into Simon and Magda totally calls her on it. Edwina swears she’s just interested in aeronautica (and his rocket *snort*) Edwina excuses herself to use the restroom. Magda and Vladimir leave, but Madga asks if Simon could give Edwina a ride home. Simon says he will. When Edwina comes back from the bathroom they get to talking about space books. Simon lends her some. She will take good care of them. She worries they are too hard. Simon offers to help. She offers to be a good student. Wow. Their storyline is all kinds of double entendre dirty, isn’t it?
Lic Uribe calls Antonio. All the plans have been approved. Antonio calls an emergency meeting. He announces that Operation Dye and Pressure Measure has been approved. They will all need to work together as a team to make sure everything is completed correctly and runs smoothly. In about a month they will start putting everything in motion.
Pedro yells at Laura for making the decision to send Sara to renegotiate the agreement. Laura cries and apologizes. She thought it was a good idea. Pedro reminds her he’s the one who does the thinking. Laura cries and begs him not to fire Sara and Laura places all the blame on herself. Pedro agrees this one time.
Nelson calls Pedro and informs him that they have a month. Pedro is thrilled. That’s plenty of time to stop things!
Ricardo shows up at Isa’s with a mega lollipop “to sweeten her day” Blech. He also brought her a book on art that he saw. “It reminded me of you.” Her doorbell rings again. It’s Ema! Ricardo scoots out of their. Ema asks why Ricardo is there. Ema still wants to know how things are with Antonio. Ema is glad to hear that Isa and Antonio are working things out.
Antonio is taking some air on his balcony. Sara comes out on her balcony. She tries to go back in and Antonio asks if she is always going to treat him like an enemy. She says she can’t hate him. They agree to try to be good neighbors. She goes back in. She reminds herself that things are over with Antonio. Each to their lives. Antonio wonders how he’s going to forget Sara.
I snickered with all the "rocket" talk too, especially on Monday's episode, glad I'm not the only one :p And I'm loving all the space sound effects.
Why is it that whatever is going on between Ricardo and Isabel feels seedy but between Antonio and Sara it's sweet??
"Dumbassery" what a great word!
Cheo's dumbassery
Antonio's dumbassery
Branch's dumbassery
Pedro's dumbassery
I'm really liking all the characters in this one with Simon and Padre Vicente being my faves, what great & cool uncles!
jlk
The space sound effects were the best and I'm totally obsessed with Simon's rocket. Er...
These are really great characters. I think Simon and Vicente might be my favorites, too.
That one scene a while back was hilarious though, where he had to take a selfie with Rafa because he almost got caught trying to take a picture of some files. And Rafa was all like "Ok, sure man!"
Don't they find it suspicious when he hangs around Marina's desk, what business does he have there??
jlk
Sometimes it's frustrating to be omniscient Viewerville.
I'm in the middle of watching my recording now.
jlk- It feels seedy because Ricardo is seedy.
So now we have Simon and Antonio both telling Sara that they have reservations about Pedro, but she still acted like it was totally out of line for Antonio to say anything. And I guess Simon has never talked to Vicente about Pedro, either.
Is there really any point to Antonio and Sara fighting their attraction? At least when it comes to Isa and Ricardo, I can say that she ought to fight it because his intentions are nefarious. I did have a moment of thinking "Yes, Isa! They're called feelings! Just go with it!" before I remembered that Ricardo's a total tool.
Yes, the heels have to go! There's no way she can be on her feet all day in those. And they're not safe for the kitchen!
Damn, it only took, what 26 episodes to fix the A/C? Well, go Nacho!
I'm not as young as Laura, but I'd be cowed by Pedro, too. He's not the kind of guy you just break up with unless you have some kind of secret identity all set up.
All this talk about Simon's rocket! Can't a man just have a rocket without everybody needing to come around and take a look? :p OK, Edwina borrowing all the books was cute, but I don't think I've ever liked a guy enough to read non-fiction for him. Then again, it is a very impressive rocket. How I can say what I would or wouldn't do in her position. When faced with such a magnificent aeronautical wonder. I don't even need a tinfoil beanie for this...I just need to see that rocket launched! There is no way to talk about the rocket without it sounding dirty. Because I am twelve. And apparently, so is everyone else :p
Short and sweet and with some combined scenes today!
The Refrito
Ema is thrilled to hear that Isa and Antonio are reconciling.
Sara doesn’t hate Anotnio.
Antonio wonders how he will forget Sara.
Lo Nuevo
Ema is glad that things are going ok with Isa and Tonio. 4 years is a long time to just throw things away. Isa agees. She and Tonio still have some things to work out, but they will. Tonio’s call interrupts them. He’s arriving at the DF tomorrow so he and Isa can talk. He’s only staying the night though. Ema wants to talk to him. She hopes he can swing by and see his family. Tonio won’t be able to, but next time.
Sara’s jeep won’t start. Tonio gives her a ride to work. Pedro’s goons are standing outside the restaurant and they make no effort to hide their guns. Tonio explains to Sara that is one reason he gets such a bad feeling about Pedro. If Sara can talk Pedro into keeping the armed guards from entering the restaurant, he might reconsider the agreement between Conatrol and El Molcajete.
Isa shows Natalia the book Ricardo gave her. The inscription is more than friendly. Natalia thinks Ricardo has already fallen for Isa. Isa insists that Tonio is the love of her life. They are alike in practically every way. Natalia thinks Isa is trying to convince herself that she loves Tonio. Isa couldn’t be with Ricardo because he’s of a different social class (BLECH!) Even Natalia calls her on her BS. Isa feels like sometimes she’s using him. It’s like I want to be in her corner, but she is really hung up on this “class” thing. And Ricardo is using HER! Quit messing with my sensibilities, show.
Ema reports that Isa and Tonio are reconciling. Eduardo is glad. He may take advantage and ask Guillermo for a loan. Ema protests that that would be taking advantage of the future suegro. Eduardo doesn’t think so. He just wants to avoid the interest fees of financial institutions. He needs a strong investment of capital if he’s going to get the San Telmo bid. Can you imagine? 25 Self-service stores?
Simon tells Bruno about Edwina, Madga, and Vladimir’s visit and Edwina’s interest in his rocket. Bruno teases Simon. Simon apparently doesn’t see that Edwina is interested in his *ahem*rocket*ahem*
Edwina studies and takes notes at her desk. A Sr. Santelices interrupts. Have we seen this guy before? Was he the one in Pedro’s office the other day asking about the gas delivery?
Sara talks to Pedro. She tells him about Tonio’s proposition to reinstate the agreement with Conatrol if Pedro will make his escoltas scarce. Laura joins in the request. They could scare customers, too. Pedro looks really scary. I don’t think he likes women telling him what to do. But the contract with Conatrol is important so he goes out and yells at the guys. Don’t come in the restaurant and be more discreet with the guns! Laura tells Sara privately that she never liked the armed guys coming into the restaurant, either. Pedro returns and tells Sara he talked to the guards. They will stay outside from now on. He tells Sara that Tonio should have talked to him face to face. A lot of problems could have been avoided. Pedro hopes Tonio will reconsider the contract. Pedro would like to continue to work with the people at Conatrol. Sara and Laura go to check on the menu and Pedro mumbles to himself that he needs to take Tonio down a peg.
Isa calls Ricardo and thanks him for the book. He asks her out, but she declines because she has a previous engagement. They hang up and she comments to herself that she even likes his voice. What is going on with her? In his office, Ricardo wonders if she really had plans or if she was avoiding him.
Tonio arrives in the office. He asks Marina to make plane reservations for him. Marina has also prepared a list of good area restaurants that they can try and arrange a contract with. Tonio tells her to pick one and take care of things. He’s got a group coming in from Oaxaca soon.
Pedro calls an underling. He tells the underling to give Ingeniero Andrade a good scare...but just a scare!
Tonio calls Rafa to his office. Could he send someone to take his car to the shop and then could he also trouble him for a ride to the airport. Rafa is more the happy to. Sara calls the office. Tonio takes the call. She tells him Pedro as agreed to call off the escoltas. Tonio tells her they will take care of things when he gets back. Tonio then asks Marina to reinstate the contract with El Molcajete. Marina laments that she’s already arranged things with another restaurant. Rats! The one time she did something as soon as Antonio asked her to! I think they decide to do a 15 day trial with the new restaurant then break the deal. Antonio doesn’t want to let Sara down on this.
Pedro’s bad guys wait outside Conatrol. They ignore Rafa’s truck as he leaves. Pepe tries to convince Nelson to come with him to drop of the boss’s car at the shop. Nelson can’t make it.
Sara and Laura talk about how much money the restaurant is spending on booze. Sara thinks she can get a better price with her old supplier (Arturo Figueroa.) She calls him. Unfortunately he’s not longer with the company, but they can give her to another sales rep. She accepts that offer. Her call is passed to Carlos Esgueva. (If they say the names it’s important, right?) Oh, we actually get to see Carlos. And he looks oddly familiar and I just can’t place him. Drat. Anyway, he just happens to be coming to San Gaspar tomorrow. Isn’t that wonderful? *eye roll at the coincidence* He’ll come by the restaurant.
Antonio’s car (driven by Pepe) leaves the Conatrol lot. The bad guys follow and eventually cut him of in the middle of a deserted road (Um? Where is the auto shop?) Pony-tail boy hops out of the truck and threatens the “Ingeniero.” Pepe throws the car in reverse and speeds away. After making his escape, Pepe runs into Nachito. Nachito takes him to the fonda so he can calm down.
Fidel and Vladimir talk about Vladimir’s English homework. Fidel has a pretty impressive vocabulary.
Nachito serves Pepe coffee and Pepe recounts his tale of terror. Nachito realizes that Antonio was the target, NOT Pepe (Pepe was probably so scared it didn’t register that the gunman said “Ingeniero”) Nachito calls Rafa.
Rafa is on the phone with his boyfriend (according to the CCs his name is “Kike”, I’m going to take the liberty of changing that to “Quique”.) Quique is bothered that Rafa had time to take Ingeniero Andrade to the airport, but not spend time with him. Rafa asks him not to start, he’s on his way. Nacho’s call interrupts. Rafa takes the call. As soon as he hears the news, he heads for Nacho’s
Vladimir tells his dad about the rocket. Dad has a hard time believing it’s a real rocket. Fidel gets a call about the attack on Pepe meant for Antonio. He leaves.
Antonio arrives safely in the DF. Sebastian encourages him to fix things with Isabel. Rafa calls him about the attack on Pepe. Antonio wants to go back to San Gaspar immediately, but Rafa tells him to stay put. It’s safer that he’s away from San Gaspar. Antonio calls Lic Uribe. Lic Uribe is concerned by this turn of events and wants to meet with Antonio the next day. Looks like Antonio won’t be going back to San Gaspar tomorrow.
Rafa also calls Marina. Nelson overhears the conversation about Pepe’s attack and runs to Nacho’s.
Fidel interviews Pepe. Pepe can’t remember much. He remembers that the guy got out of the passenger side. Fidel realizes someone else was driving. Nelson arrives and he’s angry! Fidel wants Pepe to come to the station with him to make a statement. Rafa thinks this must be the work of the gasoline robbers! Nelson gets wide eyed at this and curses. Maldito! This is not lost on Nachito, but Nelson brushes it off. He’s just mad that this happened to his friend.
Tonio arrives at Isa’s apartment. I sort of didn’t pay much attention when I watched, but I remember that he agreed to pick up where he left off with Isa. WTH, dude? *sigh* I guess I get it. Four years is a long time. Anyway. They missed each other. She’s sure she can’t live without him. He’s thought about all they have in common. Blah blah blech.
Nelson meets with Pedro. He didn’t realize when he agreed to pass information to Pedro that he was taking up with killers. Pedro denies he had anything to do with the attempt on Pepe/Antonio. Killing Antonio would be bad for business. Nelson need to mind his business and leave Pedro to his. Nelson is also told that an engineer is worth more than a rat. (Loose translation)
Policemen are sent to watch Antonio’s apartment. Simon and Bruno notice as they drive up. The doorman/gatekeeper can’t give them much information, so they decide they will call Rafa. Then they have lines about how dangerous things are for Antonio. Then they talk about sammiches.
Sara and Laura have stayed late to work on the accounts. Laura offers to drive Sara home. Laura comes up to meet Simon and Bruno...but she already knew him. Bruno looks crushed to discover Laura is married. Sara notices. Bruno makes an excuse and leaves. Simon tells Sara about the attack on Pepe meant for Antonio.
Isa luurves Antonio. She goes to fix something for supper. Antonio sees the book and the inscription. Isa lies and says something about an AMIGA being such a great friend. These two people should NOT be getting married.
Later that night Antonio thinks about his night of pasión with Sara. Isa comes out and busts her moves. He seems into it. Until the doorbell rings about the same time his phone rings. Isa goes to get the door, It’s Ricardo he does a skeevy once over of Isa in her red negligee.
Meanwhile, Antonio takes the call. It’s Sara. She heard about the attack and she’s scared for him. She begs him to stay in the DF, even if it means she’ll never see him again.
I see we're on the same page about Pedro. I don't think Pedro likes the wimminz telling him what to do--even if they're right and he'd already given that order before. I'm worried that after everything that went wrong for him today that he's going to take his anger out on Laura. I'm pretty sure he's not going to be happy when he finds out his hirelings didn't threaten the right guy and that Laura dared to have a cup of coffee with Sara and Simon.
I'm disliking Isa more every day. Maybe she and Ricardo really do belong together despite her classism and his social climbing. She's certainly more heated up from just hearing his voice on the phone than she is for Antonio. Between her insistence that he's the "right" man for her and Antonio's businesslike "I have a bunch of stuff to do, so let's get this out of the way" visit..."These two people should NOT be getting married." indeed!
I'm glad Pepe's ok. Nice driving, too!
Yes, Fidel. It's really a real rocket. And it brings all the girls to the yard ifyouknowwhatimeanandithinkyoudo.
So, they're still keeping Quique (and, yes, let's avoid that other spelling) and Rafa your average couple...where one is constantly complaining the other spends too much time at work. Well. OK. I guess. And of course, Rafa said he was on his way home, got sidetracked, and probably didn't call to warn Quique he'd be late. *sigh*
That's another thing I think Pedro is going to be upset about--they made the decision to change suppliers without consulting him. And for all they know, the guy who's gouging them on liquor prices is part of Pedro's organization and it's part of a payoff or money laundering.
Yeah whenever they introduce new characters in more than passing I start to think "Ok, who are they and how are they going to be integral to the plot". That booze guy does seems like he'll have at least a couple of lines.
Pedro sure has everyone cowed. Bruno seems pretty fearless but I am already worried about his safety when he starts to fight for laura since it looks like that's the direction they're going. It's funny how a guy in a tv screen can intimidate me. And poor Laura, wonder how he got her to marry him. We need that love train to get going quick.
The seediness does come from Ricardo. I want to muster more sympathy for Isabel but it just doesn't come. The moments I do like her though is when she eye rolls towards Emma whenever she sticks her nose in their relationship.
Love how we hype up Simon. he's turning out to be such a stud, having everyone talk about his "rocket" (I think I'm going to laugh at that joke through the whole novela)
jlk
I plan to laugh about Simon's rocket too. For an hour a day I get to be 12. :)
I was thunking of maybe a Dr Seuss style week in review. I went right to "Simon has a rocket in his pocket." Except it's in his Bodega. Which doesn't sound much better.
Forgot to mention how I loved that cute little scene with Vald and his dad. Anyone else having a hard time fitting the name with the kid? But cute scene nonetheless.
Sara, whenever you write Tonio I'm seeing Tonto. If he continues with his "we match perfectly on paper" relationship I might have to start calling him that.
jlk
THIS!!!!! *ahem* sorry to yell. I am so on board with this. Pedro is making me squirm and feel uncomfortable. Scary pervert has gotten used so much lately that it pretty much makes me roll my eyes, throw up my hands and eventually yawn.
Do I need to say that every time I type "Vladimir" I hear it in a Bela Lugosi accent? It is not the best name. And I hate to shorten it to "Vlad". That's even worse.
I can't settle on something shorter for Antonio. Tonio does lookd like tonto. Ant is a bug. Toño has that tilde that is annoying to type. You are definitely on to something with "Tonto", jlk!
I'm thinking that Toño is no mechanic since Sara's battery couldn't be dead if it was trying so hard to get the engine to turn over. Am I wrong?
I loved Toño's expresion at the end when he was thinking about Sara's concern for his safety.
I know nothing about cars, but that jeep did sound like it had some life in it. The few times I've dealt with a dead battery, the car didn't sound so close to starting. It wouldn't surprise me if Toño didn't know anything about batteries. He doesn't strike me as someone who's had to worry about things like that.
Toño's moony "ay mi Sara" face is so dreamy. I am really impressed by JDC.
I think I've figured out what's been bothering me about Sara (though I've never mentioned it before.) Her movements have just been...odd. Today it struck me that she's moving and walking like she's in a silent picture comedy. OK. It makes sense in my head. Now I know why I haven't mentioned it before. :-)
I liked Sara's blue dress this episode. But once again, I'd love to see her in some shoes that are at least a few inches shorter. I think part of the reason her gait seems a bit odd is because she's trying hard not to fall in those 6 inch red heels. I'm mighty impressed the EP has been able to act in those things for the long days they have on set.
Edwina really does seem to be into the aeronautics books she's reading and not bored. Of course, I do think Simon and his rocket, ahem, are her primary motivation.
Pedro for sure doesn't like the women telling him what to do. I also see trouble ahead about the alcohol supplier.
Poor Bruno. I heard his little heart break when he learned Laura is married.
Isa must only be hanging out with the rich artists. It would be fun to see a humble, not seedy guy sweep her off her feet.
Poor Bruno did just look crushed when he found out Laura was married. And not just married. Married to the jerk who is screwing over the farmers!
jlk, for some reason, I keep wanting to call Vladimir "Ivan" but I don't know why.
Denise, I think you're right. If the battery was dead, there would have been a lot less noise, especially after repeated attempts.
Vivi, well, who could be bored. Reading about rockets.
Sara, I'm not sure Isa hangs out with any artists at all. Have we even seen her art yet? I'm a little afraid of what kind of "art" a woman who is mostly interested in on-paper compatibility and social class when choosing a partner would make.
Got home just in time to watch. I took quick notes, but doubt I will have time to rewatch. Please feel free to fill in.
Isa went to answer the door and it was Ricardo. She panics and tells him to leave. He agrees to go...but only after he lays a big ol’ smoochie on her. And she responds! She gets rid of Ricardo and tells a quick to Antonio. “It was just some neighbor.”
Javi meets Bruno outside the apartment building. Bruno has a sad. How could Laura be married to Pedro???
Not important, but interesting-Simon speaks Italian.
Pedro arrives home to an empty house. He is not happy. When Laura finally comes home, Pedro is at his angry, oppressive, jealous and scary best. He makes Laura call Sara so he can confirm her story himself. He reminds Laura that she is supposed to come straight home from now on. The next day he leaves for a business trip and leaves Anselmo to keep tabs on Laura. She says that’s not necessary, but Pedro seems to think that as long as there are doubts he has the right to do this to Laura.
Despite making love (as was implied), Isa can’t stop thinking about Ricardo. Thinking Antonio is asleep, she slips out of bed and goes to the living room. She texts Ricardo. She can’t stop thinking about his kiss.
Ant was not asleep. He was thinking about Sara
These people do NOT need to get married.
Pepe tells Nelson that they showed him mugshots at the police station, but he didn’t recognize anyone. Nelson seems relieved.
Nachtio is looking for an assistant. His wife is still a shrew and doesn’t want to be in San Gaspar.
Ant tells Sebastian about that dedication in Isa’s art book.
Carlos the Booze Guy arrives in San Gaspar. Anselmo sees him arrive. Carlos has great prices. There’s also some booze tasting event at another restaurant(?) Laura and Sara decide to place an order.
Fidel looks into all angles and wonders if Cheo had anything to do with the threat on Ant. Simon confirms that is not possible. Cheo is a hot head, but not murderous. (Simon also confirms he has a rocket.)
Lic Uribe does not want Ant to return to San Gaspar. He considers sending Ricardo.
In San Gaspar, Rafa thinks it’s a shame that Ant might get replaced right when everyone started to like him.
Ricardo and Antonio talk Lic Uribe out of sending Ricardo to San Gaspar. Ant WILL have guards on his return, though (Fidel later contracts Ismael and Damian.)
Ricardo makes a crack to the blond minion “If Antonio dies, then they can replace him.” Har har. So funny. NOT. Bonus Vocabulary 1 en un tris-almost. Ricardo says this when he explains to blond minion how close he came to be relocated to San Gaspar.
Bonus vocab 2 me orillo-I’m pulling over. Cheo says this to Juancho so Juancho doesn’t have to blab all of Sara’s business in the middle of the street. Cheo now knows that the job with Ant fell through and that Sara is working at a restaurant in San Gaspar.
Isa makes arrangements to see Ricardo
Antonio arrives back in San Gaspar. Marina is so happy he’s back. She gives him a big hug. Antonio calls for Pepe. He wants to make sure he’s ok. Pepe tells Ant how proud everyone is to have Ant as their boss.
It just meant I couldn't get here for a week and a half or so
But I'm still into the show
Thank you sara for the highlights and the recaps and the Dick and Jane and not amused and everything
and thanks to Vivi and La Diva and jlk and Denise for your interesting comments
Glad to know I wasn't the only one making rocket jokes
Though yours were better than mine
Mine pretty much went - rocket - snicker snicker
Now that I've caught up reading the comments here I have to catch up the rest of my life :D
I'm still confused about the relationship between Bruno and Simon. When Bruno was teasing Simon about teaching Edwina about rockets it sounded like Simon had tried to talk to Bruno about aeronautics and Bruno wasn't into it - to me it implied that they'd known each other a long time so what are they? Brothers? Father & Son? Anything besides best buds and roomies? Its so unclear.
Ok so I have this cool theory about how Sara working w/Laura will turn out for the best.
Pedro is keeping her close to keep an eye on her and use her when he needs to, but I think things like her overhearing his phone yelling is going to keep happening and she will one day be the one who breaks the who is stealing gas case wide open because she has seen or heard something that will be the key to everything.
Here's hoping
I think "rocket--snicker snicker" is pretty funny.
You are not alone in your confusion over Bruno and Simon. I am too.
I am happy for Laura that Sara is there. I do worry about what Sara may see or hear.
It was sweet how the San Gaspar folks rallied around Tonio. He may be a grumpy stick in the mud, but he's OUR grumpy stick in the mud, and no one better mess with him. Also loved how Pepe's story about the attempt morphed into six attackers and him engaging in hand to hand combat and scaring them away. Ha!
I have no idea how Bruno and Simon became buddies and roommates, but I'm guessing their agricultural business is what united them. In any case, I like how easily they get along, despite their age difference.
Gosh. Pedro is scary! There was a lump in my throat as he questioned Laura about her whereabouts. Yikes!
And Happy Birthday, Sneaky!
Vivi,"It was sweet how the San Gaspar folks rallied around Tonio. He may be a grumpy stick in the mud, but he's OUR grumpy stick in the mud, and no one better mess with him." Yes! I loved that sincere affection and acceptance from the peeps.
The Isabel/Ricardo kiss. Is it supposed to be more "hot" to appear to be eating each others' faces? Am I officially an old fogie?
Ugh, more scaryPedro action today. As soon as he walked in I was covering my eyes.
"These people do NOT need to get married." I'm with you on that! Isa's getting her world rocked by Ricardo, Antonio can't stop thinking about Sara. I think you're right, and they did have sex, but yikes! It must have been lousy.
Fidel is doing the kind of investigating job I wish we'd see on other shows.
I love that Simon is offering to show off his rocket to everybody who asks about it :D
It's kind of funny how all Antonio had to do to earn the San Gaspar employees' affection was have Pepe almost get killed in his place. Vivi, "he's OUR grumpy stick in the mud" sums it up perfectly :D
sneaky two shoes, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
I don't know how Bruno and Simon are related either. I kept thinking Bruno was Simon's son, but they're too buddy-buddy. Maybe Bruno is another of Simon's nephews?
Lol, Denise, I can't say the face-eating seemed terribly obnoxious this time, but sometimes, yeah, they definitely try to sell passion by looking like a pair of snakes trying to swallow each other!
Sara, San Gaspar is the most moving-with-the-times dinky town (possibly) ever! This show keeps surprising me with little details like that.
I'm officially older than I've ever been :)
I have to say I really like how ProtaSara has been so determined to walk away with her dignity intact even though she still has feelings for Antonio - she's not going to settle for halfway if he's still with Isa and I admire that.
I may be the only one here who thinks this but Ricardo may get less skeevy if he spends enough time with Isa
Sort of like faking being a decent person may actually turn him into one.
When Rafa told Antonio a few days ago that Inge Nacho used to be a stick in the mud like him when he first got to San Gaspar it stuck in my head - Now I think that if Antonio marries Isabel he could be repeating Nacho's story and end up wanting to stay in San Gaspar, but with a wife who is miserable there.
"I may be the only one here who thinks this but Ricardo may get less skeevy if he spends enough time with Isa. Sort of like faking being a decent person may actually turn him into one."
No. You aren't the only one. It's crossed my mind, too. But they are going to have to show me some goodness soon. Right now he's an oily little eel and I lose more and more faith in him each episode.
I’m not done yet. I’m just going to put this up. I might not get to finish until tomorrow, but at least we can discuss the first half. Apparently I wanted to be long winded today
El Refrito
Pepe’s meeting with Antonio. Everyone is proud to have Antonio as their boss. Antonio responds by telling him “they will be even more proud when we all successfully thwart the robbers that are hurting out company.”
Lo Nuevo
Bruno walks the fields and thinks about running into Laura at the mercado. He wonders what’s wrong with him and why he can’t stop thinking about her.
Sara wants to know if Laura is coming with her to the booze tasting. Laura can’t go. When Sara makes a move to touch Laura and encourage her to come, Laura’s cardigan falls off. Laura’s arms are bruised. Laura claims she bumped into some furniture. Sara thinks it looks more like someone was squeezing her. Laura gets defensive and walks away. Sara asks her again about going to the booze tasting. Laura tells her to go by herself. Sara is confused and hurt. And our cute, fluffy show just got darker (not that it wasn’t before, but ….)
Cheo gives Roque a hard time about not passing on Juancho’s meassage that Sara was working at restaurant. Roque did it for Cheo’s own good. Cheo starts getting his hopes up again thinking he has a chance with Sara. Roque tells Cheo to give it up. Cheo thinks that what he feels for Sara es “más fuerte que yo.” (Warning: the part of Cheo will be played by a middle school girl for this episode.)
Laura apologizes to Sara and agrees to go to the booze tasting. Sara is glad Laura changed her mind.
Antonio arrives back at the apartment and tells his guards they can leave. They’ve been given orders not to leave him. Chepo (is that the name of the little apartment guard guy?) Wants to know why the police were there. Ant offers to tell him later and drives away. Chepo asks the bodyguards if they know. They don’t
Ricardo meets Isa at a restaurant. Boy he is slimy. Isa wants to talk about what happened last night. According to Ricardo, what happened last night was the most beautiful thing that’s happened in his life. He would do it again a thousand times over. Isa tries to turn away from his slimy, advancing lips but she gives in. Cue the Ricardo is Slimy theme music. Faces are sucked. And now that Denise has pointed it out, I’m paying attention and yeah...EW. Not sexy or romantic. Or is it just because it’s Ricardo?
Sara waits for Antonio. He steps off the elevator and she wants to know why he didn’t just listen to her for once and stay in the DF. If something happens to him, she’ll die. He gives her a big hug and tells her nothing will happen. Bad weeds don’t die. She jokes that she just can’t even with him.
Isa and Ricardo are still sucking face. She shuts it down saying they can’t be doing this. Ricardo asks her if she feels this way with Antonio. She tries to leave. This was a mistake. But Ricardo tells her it’s not a mistake and they are there because she wanted it (is that what the Spanish seemed to imply to y’all?) What is she afraid of. She wants him as much as he wants her. Blech. He leaves her with the idea that usually one doesn’t regret what they DO rather what they DON’T DO.
Ant explains that Lic Uribe wanted him to stay in Mexico, but Ant wants to finish what he started. He tells Sara he really was happy to hear her voice. She asks if he was with Isa when she called. He was. Sara excuses herself and they both head for their respective apartments. She’s glad that he’s ok, you know since they are friends.
In the apartment, Sara tells herself she’s got to get a grip. When she said they were friends, he could have said “but we could be more.” He didn’t say that, so she needs to let go. If he only listens to his head (and not his heart), she can too.
In his apartment Antonio is also reflecting. Why is he afraid of her? Why is he who he is? Why does it have to be Isa in his life and not Sara?
Simon is explaining how a rocket works (*snicker*). Edwina is fascinated by the lesson on rockets (*snicker*) Simon asks if she would like to see a rocket in action (*snicker*) They’ll need to go to the pharmacy (*guffaw*)
Cheo texts Sara. He heard about her new job. How’s she doing? He misses her. She texts back a cordial reply...with no mention of missing him. Which Cheo as the middle schooler begins to overthink. At least she answered fast! He answers. He’s glad she’s good. He’ll always be thinking of her. She does not respond.
Simon and Edwina are using water and effervescent pills (like Alka Seltzer™) to make a little mini rocket. He launches fist (*snicker*) and she still wants her chance (*snicker*.) She breaks a light bulb. They run when the restaurant owner comes out. A creepy guy follows. They make their escape laughing. Simon tells her if one day she’s drives his rocket (*snicker*) she’s not allowed to set the course (now thats just selfish, Simon.)
Natalia and Sebastian return home from the movies. He picks up the book and read the inscription. He tells Natalia that now he understands why Antonio said she was so intense. Luckily, she plays along. Isa arrives and Sebastian leaves. Natalia tells Isa to please give her a heads up when she’s going to use her as a cover story. Isa had no idea that Ant would say something to Sebastian. Natalia assures her that she realized what was going on and didn’t blow Isa’s cover. Natalia asks Isa where she’s been. Isa LIES and says she went to see her art teacher. Isa, girlfriend...you should NOT be getting married.
Bruno comes home. Sara asks what was wrong with him when Laura came by. He was practically rude. When Simon comes in, Sara asks Simon if he noticed how weird Bruno was acting. Simon did, as a matter of fact. Bruno tells them they’re nuts. Sara asks Bruno if he wants to come to the booze tasting with her and Laura. Bruno declines. Now *that* is odd. Bruno doesn’t turn down a party.
Anselmo calls Pedro and tells him about the guy who came to see Laura (Carlos the Booze Rep.) Anselmo thinks it may have been a friend. Pedro says Laura doesn’t have amigos...at least that Pedro doesn’t know about. Pedro tells Anselmo to find out who it is. Then Pedro calls Laura and checks up on her. What are you up to? What have you been doing? Anything new? Why are you so brusque? She says she’s busy and asks when he’s coming back. He tells her he doesn’t know. He’ll let her know when he does. They hang up. Pedro thinks she’s hiding something and wonders why she wanted to know when he was coming back. Laura thinks it will be bad if Pedro finds out about the booze tasting.
Anto calls Isa on her house phone. While they talk, Ricardo calls on her cell phone. She tells Antonio she has to hang up and catch the call. It’s her art teacher. These two do NOT need to get married. Isa takes Ricardo’s call. He couldn’t stop thinking about her all night. She says it’s best they don’t see each other. He tells her he’ll have to tell him that in person and hangs up.
If Pedro is going to appoint a spy to watch his wife, why doesn't he employ a smart one? That meeting between Laura and alcohol guy did not look like a meeting between amigos. They were going over numbers and figures. It looked totally like a business meeting. Idiot. But the dancing at the club-- That will be hard to explain.
Padre Vicente and Fidel have decided on the terms of the bet. If Padre’s team loses, he’ll be Fidel’s police assistant for a week. If Fidel’s team loses, Fidel will attend catechism class with Vladimir for a month.
Bruno and Simon discuss the terms they will settle with the other farmers. It’s business stuff so my eyes glazed over and I probably didn’t get stuff right. I think Bruno said that the farmers would pay them 10% for the use of the truck? Simon thought that was too little. They have to pay the loan back and keep the truck maintained. Bruno suggested 15% and they can lower it to 10% when they are successful. Simon changes the subject. He asks Bruno why he turned down Sara’s invitation to the booze tasting. Bruno says it’s because Laura is married to Pedro and he doesn’t want to have anything to do with him. Bruno also admits he likes Laura and can’t stop thinking about her. He leaves. Simon muses about there being another person fixated on the wrong mate.
Laura and Sara now discuss the sky-high electric bill. Sara wonders if maybe it’s the refrigerators. They had a high bill at her house, but they changed refrigerators and it used less energy (Oh, I really think you were right Diva and all of theses money saving measures are going to make Pedro angry. I’m really starting to think he is using the restaurant for money laundering or something.) Antonio comes to discuss the contract with Conatrol. Anselmo reports it to Pedro and offers to follow Anto when he leaves. Pedro tells him to stick to watching Laura.
Pedro ends the call with Anselmo and turns to The Bad Guys’ Co-op. Ant is back. Carmelo thinks they should have “eliminated” him. Pedro still argues that the bigger issue is stopping the dye project. They need to stop the dye from getting to the plant. Carmelo thinks that Ant is turning into a big headache. If they don’t stop the dye, they will HAVE to get rid of Ant. Pedro thinks that would lead to the closing of Conatrol. They can’t let that happen.
Ant tells Laura he’ll reinstate the contract with the restaurant in 15 days. Laura invites him to the booze tasting. He can pick up Sara and they can come get Laura. Sara is a little shocked, but Ant likes the idea.
Natalia and Isa talk about her picture. Much stronger than usual and she’s not using the same ochre and gray like she usually does. The doorbell rings. It’s Ricardo. Natalia comes to tell Isa and Isa asks her to say she’s already in bed and can’t see him. Natalia is a terrible liar so Ricardo doesn’t fall for it, but he does leave without a fight.
Natalia can’t figure Isa out. A couple of days ago Isa felt bad for kicking Ricardo to the curb and now she won’t even see him. Isa confesses that she and Ricardo kissed and she wants him more and more. Natalia can’t believe it. Isa is engaged to Ant, but is having feelings for Ricardo. Isa can’t believe it either. She feels things with Ricardo she’s never felt before. It’s not that Antonio is cold. He’s warm and caring. But Ricardo is a desire she can’t control. She’s afraid if she keeps seeing Ricardo, she’ll do things she’ll regret. Natalia wonders if Isa has thought about giving Ricardo a chance. No way. Ant is the man in Isa’s life. They’re made for each other. But Ricardo captivates her and hypnotizes her. She’s firm, though. She’s not ruining her relationship with Ant for a fling.
Ant comes to pick up Sara. He and Simon make small talk about the atento/susto made on Pepe. Sara comes out. She looks fabulous! I wasn’t that impressed. But Simon and Ant seemed to be.
Bruno and Javi have a few beers at Nachito’s. They discuss Laura’s invite. I don’t think I really get all of it. Javi said something about taking advantage of Pedro’s absence. Bruno says he thought that all Laura was interested in was guys with money even though they were twice her age. Jave is surprised to find out Laura’s their age ”de nuestra camada” (camada=litter.) This is interrupted by Nachito’s harpy of a wife. She wants more money for the house. Nachito fires back that he needs time to build the business (pssst: you might want to stop giving away the beer and sammiches.) She tells him that he needs to come up with a way to make more money or things are not going to turn out well. She flounces away. Nachito is upset. Javi and Bruno give him a pep talk which sort of turns into Nachito blustering about being the king of his castle and his wife will listen to him!
Sara and Ant pick up Laura. Ants guards follow. Anselmo is also watching from the shadows.
They arrive at the booze tasting. The guards are not allowed in because of their firearms. Ant tells them to wait outside. What could happen to him in the bar?
Ricardo sends a text to Isa asking why she doesn’t want to see him. She ignores it. She throws away the stuffed bear he gave her. Natalia is worried about her. Why did she throw the bear away? Isa doesn’t want anything around that reminds her of Ricardo. Natalia says she’d have to get rid of the art book, too. Natalia advises Isa to talk to Ricardo face to face because Isa can’t keep going like this. Isa calls Antonio, but he doesn’t answer….
...because he’s busy hearing Carlos the Teetotaling Booze Rep talk up a low calorie vodka. (I didn’t make up the teetotaling part. It’s true.)
The owner of the Booze Tasting Bar is creepy. Name: Roberto Quintana. He creeps on Laura.
Anselmo sneaks in the back door of the bar. Ant’s guards don’t notice.
Cheo texts Sara again. He misses her. Sara asks Ant to dance. Creepy Roberto asks Laura to dance. She turns him down and he is called to another part of the bar. Carlos asks Laura if Roberto was bothering her. Laura says not but explains she “doesn’t like men who think women are just property.” Just let the irony sink in...like a deadweight.
Laura sees Roberto coming. She grabs Carlos and heads for the dancefloor. Anselmo watches it all.
Cheo whines about Sara not answering his texts. What could it mean? She answered that one! Roque tells him to leave it alone, but Cheo has such hope now that he knows she's not working for Ant. Cheo can't stop thinking about her. He can't let her go.
Natalia wants to meet with Ricardo tomorrow night. He says to himself "now I'll find out who's team you're on."
Sara and Ant dance and remember. *sigh* It’s romantic and heartbreaking at the same time.
FIN
"Laura says not but explains she 'doesn’t like men who think women are just property.' Just let the irony sink in...like a deadweight." EXACTLY.
I found this on the internet
There is an international rocket club that launches real rockets
The website I read says "Tripoli flyers are taken seriously by the commercial rocket community. TRA members were the first civilians to put a rocket into space (CSXT), and Tripoli members have been invited to assist NASA on rocketry research projects."
sounds like Simon's kind of people http://www.tripoli.org/
Ok now I'm sort of turning in to Edwina
So are you like Edwina because you are interested in aeronautica in general or Simon's rocket? Hee hee.
Sara, gracias por the Friday 'cap! I got to watch sooner than I expected.
"Warning: the part of Cheo will be played by a middle school girl for this episode." Uh, no joke! I've never seen a dude parse texts for, uh, subtext. I guess there's a first time for everything.
I'm totally with Ricardo about regretting the stuff you don't do, but still...shut up, Ricardo!
Oh. My. Rocket! Oh, he doesn't want to let her steer his rocket? Sure, Simon...whatever you say....
I'm with Vivi--They were clearly looking at paperwork and Anselmo needs to shut up! Wasn't Pedro complaining just the other day about how Anselmo and the other guy had ignored his instructions to keep the guns hidden? And he trusts THAT guy to keep an eye on Laura?
No, Sara! I don't want to be right! Pedro's scary! And now a high electric bill...what's the explanation for that? A hydroponic growing operation in the basement that Laura doesn't know about?
I agree, Sara's party outfit was nice, but she pretty much wears stuff like that all the time, except for it being a skirt instead of capris.
"Laura says not but explains she 'doesn’t like men who think women are just property.'" *shudder* Oh, I think she totally knows, and it's bad enough she's stuck with Pedro, but she's not going to let anyone else treat her like that.
Wow, sneaky two shoes! That rocket club is serious business! I wonder if Simon will be attending BALLS24?
It was a totally innocent comment about my sudden interest in aeronautica - geez can't a girl suddenly develop a totally natural interest in rockets without there being an ulterior motive? -tee hee
But hey, I see the allure of Simon's rocket! I really like the guy. He really is so charming. Having a big rocket is just a bonus. *snort*
