La Sombra Del Pasado #105, 7/13/15: Maybe it's time to leave town

Morning peeps here's your recap:

Humberto and his shrew

Poor Humberto, I think we can all agree that his life poor choices have finally caught up with him, his wife belongs in an episode of Cheaters and his daughter, well, she needs some serious professional help. Today, Humberto's wife shows up at his clinic and tells him that she will never give him the divorce and if he moves forward she will take him to the cleaners. She also accuses him of cheating on her with Aldonza, aka, her favorite whipping boy.

Humberto tries to talk sense into her but Pru will have none of it, finally, her crazy overwhelms Humberto and he drags her out of his office, Pru, ever the evil shrew starts screaming and asking him not to hit her any more, he tells her she is out of her mind and tosses her out of the clinic. This all happens in front of a few patients, Hum apologizes and asks Blanca to send in the next patient, but having witnessed the madness that patient leaves the clinic so fast that you'd think the place was on fire- the next patient does go in to see Hum but does not look too happy at having to see Hum.

Later in his hotel room Humberto has flash backs to the night that Roberta gave birth, he recalls how he and Sev took the baby away and I think the weight of his sins is finally getting to him. Hum gets a visit from Val who tells him she wants the Santuario, that property will secure her child's future. Hum tells her that he will always be there to help her and Val actually asks what will happen when he kicks the bucket, what will she do then?

Oh how about getting a job? That's what most people do! She guilt's her father enough so that he agrees to give her the property because he later tells Aldi that he will not sell her ES because he is leaving the property to his daughter and grandbaby. Aldi cries that she has a right to the lands and Humberto tells her to sad to bad. This totally blows for poor Renato who keeps investing a lot of cash!

Aldonza cries, what else is new?

Aldonza has spent all day crying, Cris has told her that he will leave her alone so that his parents will cause her no harm- ummm,  if you know your parents are evil and batshit cray, don't you think the best solution would be to take your wife and oh I don't know, leave town, move to North Dakota and change your names to Jim and Susie?

Adelina tells Aldi that this is for the best, she should move on with her life and give Renato the chance to be with her. Dude, a man is not a band aid, how about you tell this poor girl to get herself some professional help?

Aldi fills Ade on some more bad news, Humberto wont be selling her the land- he plans to give ES to the younger of the two shrews as a way of leaving something for his granbaby. Now Aldi has to give Renato the bad news. Which really sucks because Renato has spent a lot of money trying to get Aldi's plans going, speaking of Renato...

He goes to visit Sev and tells him that Aldi is not alone! He is there to protect her as both her lawyer and a man, Sev says he is tired of people accusing him of the one crime he did not commit and tells Ren to tell Aldi to stop spreading lies, or else!

Oooh, I almost forgot, earlier in the episode a detective shows up- he is investigating the attempt on Aldi's life, Sev tells him that he did nothing, he can't shoot a rifle with one arm and that Aldi is paranoid just like her mother who accused him of everything under the sun. The detective tells Sev that perhaps it is paranoia, but he also points out that way too many bad things have happened to Aldi in order for everything to be in her head and that he will continue to investigate. The detective leaves to continue his questioning of the employees.

I think that this is a clear example of people finally seeing Sev for what he is-his mistake was throwing Padre J in jail, now people see him with different eyes, ah Sev, you should have known better than to mess with Padre J.

Oh and Padre J and Sev did have an encounter earlier in the day. Padre J tells Sev that he knows he is scared, he went to the cardinal to get him moved because he was scared of being unmasked, Sevs all like whatever dude, have your niece watch out and he does this totally pervy thing with his tongue. Gross.

The law firm:

Renato and Silvia complain about Mari and tell Pato that he needs to talk to her and get her to fall in line. They tell him about her leaving the office unattended and Pato says he will talk to her.

Oooh and Silvia agrees to go out to lunch with Tomas, I like Tomas.

Cris has a talk with his parents:

And tells them to leave Aldi alone, he is not accusing them of anything but if something, anything happens to Aldi and they have something to do with it he will personally see to it that they pay.

Now to the big things that happened in this episode:

Aldi is in bed and having a nightmare, she is screaming and asking him not to touch her, her screams wake Lola up and she finally opens up: Sev caused her great harm, years ago he raped her. Lola looks stricken and holds Aldi.

Lola has a busy day, Pato asks her to meet him for lunch and then he proposes to her, but there is a bit of a hitch when she swallows the ring, they end up in Humberto's clinic where he runs tests to make sure the ring is working its way through her system, eeeeeeeek.

Lola tells Pato that she needs time to think about things, she can't just say "yes" or "no" without first thinking things over. When she's alone she picks up a newspaper that has an article about E-man. The article says that he was joined at the competition by his girlfriend, Veronica and tells a little bit of his tale, mainly how he left Santa Lucia on Solitario, the only creature in the world who was there for him and how he never plans to return to his old town which gave him nothing but heartache.

Wow, I know E-man can be a little emo sometimes but I doubt he sat down with a reporter and told him all of that. Whatever, I'm just going to adjust my beanie and go with it.

Sadly for E-man, Sev sees the article and calls his main bitch attorney and tells him he has news.

Aldi is at home with Dominga who has come to check up on her when a they hear noises. A mob led by Pru is outside her house, they have torches and someone throws one into the house which causes a small fire, Don Camilo puts out the fire and goes outside to try and gain control of the situation. He is met by a crowd of people chanting awful things about Aldi, mainly that they want the slut to leave town. The crowd is out of hand and Don Camilo is forced to use his gun, he shots into the air but the crowd wont leave.

Pru is hella drunk, how did she even manage to get these people to come with her, what's wrong with these idiots?! Pru dares Don Camilo to shoot, she tells him he does not have enough bullets to get rid of all of them but Don Camilo replies "No, I have one bullet left, just for you". Dominga goes outside to calm the crowd but has no luck.

Padre J and Adelina arrive, when the crowd sees Padre J they start to calm down, when Pru tells him they are there because they don't want a hussy in their town Padre J comes *this* close to telling everyone that Pru is a giant ho. He manages to stop himself but Adelina gets into the action and smacks Prudencia across the face.

I guess seeing the town priest is enough to calm people down because the crowd starts to leave. Hmmm, I wonder what the sermon for Sunday mass will be? Maybe something called "Love you neighbor and don't try to lynch people because it's 2015 and this makes Jesus would be sad", just a suggestion.

Padre J and Adelina leave Don Camilo and Pru outside so they can work on the "differences", once Pru sees that the crowd has left, she also leaves.

Inside the house Padre J tells Aldi and Ade to pack their bags, they are coming to stay with him. Aldonza refuses to leave, this is her home and no one will run her out of it.

Aldi, baby, when a mob carrying torches shows up at your home and almost burns it down, that's when you say "I hear Reno is nice this time of year" and you pack your bags and go. Any town where a murderous crowd can form is not the kind of town you want to live in.

Dominga gets to Las Animas and tells everyone what happened. Cris runs off to see Aldi!

Come back tomorrow to see what other crazy stuff happens in Santa Lucia!

Wow! Thanks, Eli! Can't wait! What the heck is going on, it looked like a scene from Beauty and the Beast! How stupid are the residents of SL to let a drunken Pru lead them on a torch-lit nectie party to Aldonza's? Can't wait to see what everyone else thought as well. It was actually kinda funny. Okay. Just wanted to give my first thanks and react quickly. Back in a bit!

Gracias Eli! I'm getting ready to dig into some lunch and your recap...I can't wait! All they were missing was pitchforks! QTH with this town?!

OK, back in a minute.

Unexpected day off so I get to play! Thanks for these, among others, Eli:

leave town, move to North Dakota and change your names to Jim and Susie?

Dude, a man is not a band aid, how about you tell this poor girl to get herself some professional help?

Oooh and Silvia agrees to go out to lunch with Tomas, I like Tomas.

Aldi, baby, when a mob carrying torches shows up at your home and almost burns it down, that's when you say "I hear Reno is nice this time of year" and you pack your bags and go.

Hey! Did I miss a scene? I don't remember Tomas and Silvia. What happened to the urgent message he had for her. It must be that he's more formally going to hit on her. Darn. I still have hope it's squealing on Pru about wanting to take out Tere because after what she instigated at Aldonza's today, I think the wench out to be at least arrested or under surveillance!

How much y'all bet Lola is going to blurt out about the rape and lead to a possibly fatal showdown for somebody. . .definitely not Cris, we know. Of course, it's got to come out about the rape but I'm afraid the way Lola may blurt it out it will be to Sev's advantage!

You got an exciting show, Eli! Thanks, amiga!

I haven't gotten to see the episode yet, but it sounds like you reeaallly took one for the team. Thank you and bless you.

A mob with torches? Seriously?! QTFH?

Loved the sermon suggestion. Yes. Clearly these people need a reminder about what century they are in.

"Dude, a man is not a band aid, how about you tell this poor girl to get herself some professional help?"

I want to LOL at this, but it's true. Adelina and Aldonza both need help.

Eli, that was awesome! It's tempting to just quote the whole thing.

Humberto's patient getting all affronted and leaving: Seriously? Because I'm pretty sure if he actually was hitting her, most of the people in this town wouldn't care. Oh, but this dude is gonna take a stand against violence. Yeah, right.

"This totally blows for poor Renato who keeps investing a lot of cash!" True.

"Dude, a man is not a band aid, how about you tell this poor girl to get herself some professional help?" Yes, please!

"Sevs all like whatever dude, have your niece watch out and he does this totally pervy thing with his tongue. Gross." Gross is pretty much what I yelled at the TV. I want somebody to kick him or bump him from behind the next time he does that so he can bite himself. Disgusting piece of trash.

"Oooh and Silvia agrees to go out to lunch with Tomas, I like Tomas." OK, so we never did find out why he came to the office, did we? I smell editing!

"Lola has a busy day, Pato asks her to meet him for lunch and then he proposes to her, but there is a bit of a hitch when she swallows the ring, they end up in Humberto's clinic where he runs tests to make sure the ring is working its way through her system, eeeeeeeek." Never, never, ever, ever, never, never, ever, ever, put the ring in someone's drink or in their dessert. Never.

"Adelina gets into the action and smacks Prudencia across the face." So very satisfying.

"Pru is hella drunk, how did she even manage to get these people to come with her...." I see your question and raise you one..."How did she not light herself on fire with her own breath?!"

Eli- Just brilliant! I mean, how do you cover an episode that includes a lynch mob with torches, with style and humor? Well, you did it.

The people of SL need more hobbies. Or maybe they are all as high as Pru. Where did she find this particular group of village idiots?

There were two bits left out. 1) When Al got her gun and tried to go outside with it, and Dominga made her put the gun down and sit down. 2) Eman with Vero and Don Antonio celebrating them making it to the finals with glasses of wine (Don Tono cut Eman off), and Eman asks the Don's permission to have a formal noviazgo with Vero. Vero is as shocked as Lola was to be proposed to, since she has never had a formal novio among all the men she's dated, but she said yes (unlike Lola's answer to poor Pato).

Now that Sever knows where Eman is, I'm guessing things are going to start to crash and burn for Eman.

Oh, Eli this is too much, love it and thanks.

"his wife belongs in an episode of Cheaters"

"change your names to Jim and Susie"

"a man is not a band aid"

How low can this show sink? A lynch mob pulled together by a drunk Pru willing to burn out the niece of the towns beloved Padre. Never in a billion years and absolutely stupid tripe.

Hate Emanuel finally got some long overdue good press. Worst of it I fear is he'll see Lola again.

The look on Aldonza's face when she realized the farm won't be hers was priceless. No reason to have a business partner without a place to conduct that business, and with no partner, no more checks. Come on Aldonza you can fix this by marrying Renato, that will make your aunt happy.

Also stupid for Renato to go and threaten Severiano, he doesn't have to do that.

Tofie, that was as dumb as when Donnie confronted Sev all alone in the middle of the night on the threshold of an empty house that he had the key to.

Seems the junior high writing team read the blog the other day when we were talking about when things got koo koo and the said, "shark jumping? I'll show you shark jumping!" and thus last night's episode!

Wait....what ????? This episode seems to marks the official jumping of the shark.Even though I did not understand much of the dialogue, I could not believe the visuals. Thanks so much, Eli, for letting me know what people were saying.

The writers have really decided to put Boozy Pru..PRuzy..down a very slippery slope. She is drunk as a skunk but manages to round up enough town crazies to march on ES carrying blazing torches...wait...what ? Al has been slapped numerous times, raped, threatened continuously , shot, and now she is Frankenstein. Al...you dumb bunny...Move...anywhere else.

Sev is just despicably icky with the lip licking and sneering. Bllkeeeccchhhh. This guy needs a giant, awful anvil.

I am now on board with E and Very . She is a cutie with a lively libido and is carrying a !ot less baggage than Lola or Ponytail (and you folks all know what the ponytail is attached to.)

What was the purpose of that whole thing about Lola swallowing the ring ? Was that supposed to be comic relief ? Well..it was neither comic nor a relief. Basta. I am ready for this mess to end. Too bad they stretched it out until it just seems stupid.

By the by, the guys I know with ag degrees like Al is supposed to have are either teaching at a university or out in their fields or the fields of other people all the time. I seldom see Al doing anything in vaguely agricultural.

Thank you, Eli. Great recap.

We had a semi-thinking cop this episode. Sure, he said all those things happening to Aldonza were a bit much to be all in her head, yada, yada, yada ... but the imbecil looks RIGHT AT the rifle in plain sight and only asks Seve if he has others! QTF? He should've Columbo-ed Sev's ass with a, "Oh, I see you have a rifle ... hmmm (starts to walk away, then turns back stroking his chin) you know ... no, that's not possible ... but ... well, Mr. Mendoza, forgive me for even saying this, because I KNOW it's impossible, what with your ... ahem ... disability, but you don't mind if I take this with me to conduct some ballistics tests, do you? Just to officially rule you out as a suspect, of course. Hehehe ...you know how it is in law enforcement ... gotta dot all those "I's" and cross those "T's" ... you being such an upstanding citizen and all ... ??"

The newspaper with Eman's story may very well have gone unnoticed by Severiano (maybe, maybe not) , but it was that metiche Mudo that saw it and brought it to Jacinto's attention, then together they took it to Severiano instead of to Melesio or Cris. Estupidos metiches ... some friends!!

Yay, Lila gets a play day! I think you may be right about Lola knowing now. She never met a frijole she didn't spill.

Sweet Baby Chihuahuas, IKR? A mob with torches. No matter how many times I read that over and over again...and I watched the show so I know it happened...and I keep asking myself "Did that really happen?" It was just that ridiculous. Where did they even get torches, anyway? What does one make a torch out of, if one's door is knocked on by one's drunk neighbor saying "Grab your torch, we're running someone out of town!"? I need to know. For science.

Vivi, thanks for the reminder. Vero and Eman are officially an item. YES! And that's kind of cute how she's never had a formal boyfriend before. I hope that now that Em is kinda sorta part of Don Antonio's family Sev won't be able to get to him.

tofie, I agree, it was stupid for Renato to go threaten Sev, but it was refreshing for once that Cris' response to that was "Naw, it's cool. Thanks for doing that, man."

Lila and susanlynn, can we really call THIS the jumping of the shark? Because I'm afraid there may be more jumping yet. We've descended into...well, Lila said it, the junior high writing team got hold of this one. Next there may be a dance-off or a prom.

Even with Don Antonio's protection, Eman is guilty of theft of a valuable horse-- a horse that was mentioned by name in the article. Not sure how he'll get out of this.

I'd like to propose that if Sev tries to bring the law into this, the fact that he was going to kill the animal and that Don Antonio (because he so totally would) offers a good price for it, would get the authorities to say "Come on, man, don't be a jackass...take the money and let's drop this." Of course, this ain't that kind of show, but...I can dream :)

Oh Jesus, I'm now picturing Aldi and the rest of the cast doing dance battles in the middle of the street!

If I can fill just one person's mind with preposterous images, I've done my good deed for the day.

Diva, tots off topic but I read one of your old recaps for Mujeres Asesinas and your closing line was "next week, prostitution. Yay?", I laughed all weekend, lol.

I hope that when Severiano goes after Emanuel and blows up his world, Cris remembers the horse is in his name. That is unless the attorney hasn't already doctored the papers.

Renato and Aldonza were going over things happening with the business and while I know she was just shot, she was clueless. She isn't doing a thing, all Renato & Joaquin. Aldonza secured a one year lease on property that will not be renewed and that was it. Bye, bye hard work and cash. Choose your partner better next time boys.

Oh, wow...blast from the past. And we think this show is dark! Mujeres Asesinas was way dark...super dark...and, what, half? the time, the women who were just trying to get free from bad situations or defend themselves still ended up going to jail for it.

Good point about the papers, tofie. Last I remember, Solitario is in Cris' name and Sev never talked to Cris about transferring him. Ew...that means Sev is going to have to use extralegal means to go after Emmanuel.

Well Kat you are already up to two minds with preposterous images. You can sleep easy tonight

I'll take one on credit for tomorrow...just in case tonight's episode is somehow free of juvenile drama.

Heh, heh, heh...who am I kidding! Somebody's bound to do something I can mock!

Thanks Eli! Excellent recap.

Clearly Mudo and Jacinto's forgot Melesio's direct order to tell him EVERYTHING!!

I tuned in late and saw an angry mob?!? QTH? Pru or Pruzy (good one Susanlynn) must have paid them.

PBN, I'm wondering what would be going through my mind if I had just tuned in and, boom! Angry mob! With torches! We've had some bad stuff on this show, but that must have been a shock.

Eli, you were on fire! "Aldonza, aka, her favorite whipping boy", "Dude, a man is not a band aid, how about you tell this poor girl to get herself some professional help?" and "Love you neighbor and don't try to lynch people because it's 2015 and this makes Jesus would be sad" were amazing. This was fantastic.

After stoning Aldonza and now heading the mob/lynching party, Pru is now cemented in unredeemable territory where her daughter has long been residing. I wish I could muster some/any support for Humberto, but he lost all my regard when he stood by as Sev ripped Roberta's son from her arms and further, kept silent all these years.

I know Aldonza should leave and leave quickly but a small part of me admires her determination not to be forced out of her home. She refuses to let the man who nearly destroyed her life not to write the final chapter. That will be up to her.

Susanlynn, loved your remarks about Lola and the swallowed ring “Well..it was neither comic nor a relief. Basta. I am ready for this mess to end".

Vivi, I was cringing when Sev was shown the article on Eman! Prior, thankfully Sev’s attention was diverted as he was trying to defend his “honor” against the newest atrocities against Aldonza, but now Eman is clearly in his sights. I am very afraid for him (and for Solitario). Darn Mudo and Jacinto for showing him! As PBN noted, why on earth didn't they go to Melesio???

Diana

I do feel compelled to leave a link to "Kill the Beast"... You know for comparison purposes. If the song gets stuck in your head it's Lila's fault since she mentioned it first. ;)

https://youtu.be/qAZmHrtloD8

Diana, I'm also conflicted about Aldonza staying vs. going. Clearly, she's not safe there and logically the thing to do when you're not safe is get away. But at the same time, why should she have to leave when she isn't doing anything wrong? It's Sev, Cande, Pru, Val, and the torch wielders who need to stop what they're doing. But since that's not going to happen, she has to do something about her personal safety--get some actual security at least, if she's determined to stay. Call the cops when people trespass. Something.

Excellent, Eli, y gracias.

It never fails to amaze me how a virtuous woman can be smeared with the title of slut by ones more worthy of it. I'm sure Prudencia paid off some of these people to follow her to El Santuario. In view of this and how many witnesses there were I don't think Humberto needs to worry about her taking him to the cleaners.

Don Antonio will probably make a great offer for El Solitario, but I hope Cristobal has copies of the ownership documents. We didn't see Sev take any from his room, but that doesn't mean he hasn't forged them already.

The engagement ring stunt was ridiculous. Not to mention unromantic. It's something a high school boy would do.

Sweet Baby Chihuahuas, Pru is so very, very Gaston. And, yes, now I have that song stuck in my head.

I don't know that the word "slut" has any kind of meaning anymore, for one thing. It says more about the person using the word than the person it's being applied to. It says "I don't approve of you." But why, especially when it comes to women, does it always come back to sex? Of all the reasons I have to dislike Pru and Val, the sex they've had is the least of it. They're liars, manipulators, schemers...there are any number of things to call them that get at the root of what's wrong with their behavior without bringing sex into it.

You are such a trooper Eli! Sitting through all of that last night and making a silk purse of it.

Well, at least I wasn't alone with the WTH????? feeling last night. I want to think we are getting some semblance of movement on the plots as we move to winding this thing up, but why did I have the overall feeling of filler and stupidity last night.

The whole Pru thing was just lame and unbelievable. (She does realize if her husband's business fails she has nothing right?

And add Aldi's reaction to it and I wanted to say "you know what...whatever happens then is your own fault". She finds out she isn't going to be able to keep this lousy ranch that has absolutely no meaning to it in the scheme of things except she's hung her star on it and insists it's HER family's to be had and it symbolizes her revenge on Sev. All horse hockey at this point. She's going to make Ren keep pouring money into a place she doesn't own and will NOT own?

Plus, she needs to think of the people who are supporting her. Noone will let her stay there alone, so that means Ade, Lola, anyone else is now in danger too? Little self-centered for me. I see nothing noble in putting people's lives at stake over grass, a house and a waterfall that she doesn't even own.

Her nightmare was sad though and was frankly surprised she spilled to Lola...she who can't keep a secret for her soul. Now maybe Lola will tell PJ? She's going to tell someone, it's just in her nature, so will be interesting.

Yeah E-man. Sorry, but I love the fact he's moving on, though I agree that article was "are you kidding me?" I do not see him spilling the beans about the horse. But again, while the teacher's away, the kids will play with the script. (And really, it's Cris' horse. So Sev tries to go after him, Cris can say it's fine by him E-man took it...at least it better play that way.)

Daisynjay

Thanks all! I just want Aldi to get out, Don Camilo is only one person and there's only so much he can do!

Diva, my question is: Are Pru and Val saying that Aldi is a slut because they think she has a thing going on with Humberto? Or is that just what they tell themselves to justify being total witches?

I don't think it's fair to accuse Aldonza of putting other people's lives at stake when those people are also adults capable of making their own decisions. If she has to take responsibility for whatever happens now if she keeps refusing to leave, then they have to as well.

And, responsibility--ok. Whatever happens, she's going to have to deal with it. There's no way to avoid that. But not blame. Blame belongs to the aggressors.

I think Pru and Val have deluded themselves into thinking that she really does have a thing with Humberto because their closed minds can't understand why he would just want to be done with the two of them. They assume there must be something more to it. I don't think this is a case of "Oh, we totally know there's nothing going on, but we're just going to say it anyway to get people all riled up."

Thanks for the link, Sweet Baby C! I'm sorry, that's all I could think of though Frankenstein certainly works, too! How in the hell did any of those actors keep a straight face during that scene!? Okay. Back to comments!

Eli--Thank you! So great to read your wildly funny recap on my lunch hour! One of my faves: "Love you neighbor and don't try to lynch people because it's 2015 and this makes Jesus would be sad." (Maybe they should have saved this line for Tomas.)

Loved the super-crazy mob scene with torches, throwback to some of my favorite old horror flicks. Best part was when Pru turned arouind and her back-up mob was gone...

Lola and the Ring: too silly. Eman winning the competition: great, but now everyone has seen it in the paper. Does E think Sev will just let this go by?
Kinda missed seeing Tomas/Syl together.

J in O

I cannot stop thinking about the ridiculousness of that mob. I really kept expecting it to turn out to be somebody's nightmare. I don't know at what point I decided it was really happening.

Ok. I honestly wasn't planning on watching. Eli covered it all splendidly, but I *have* to see this mob scene.

Yes. Yes, you do. I can't remember seeing a scene like that in a non-period TN. But that might just be because I'm in shock.

HA HA AH AHAHAH HAA HA! Oh, Diva, and I thought MY reaction was strong! I was like, what the flaming eff? Gosh, I really hate Pru and Val now. Those two are murderous she-devils. How did it take Hum so long to figure out what a shrew she was?

Hey! Didn't Val say the baby was moving and Cris said, "isn't it too early for that?" Do you think the drumb darlin' will remember the Lardo incident and do some math?

We'll never get that lucky. Cris seems to be operating on the assumption that the simplest explanation is usually correct one. Which might be valid, if he didn't live in telenovelaland. Alas!

*dumb, not "drumb".

My long comment from earlier seems to have up and disappeared - weird.

I am 100% positive that the episode that we watched last night was actually 2 episodes smushed together - I assume Capitulo 105 AND 106 - with about 10-15 minutes edited off of each. One episode minus commercials is always 44/45 minutes (On Demand puts the eps up w/o commercials so I know this for a fact) yet the episode last night weirdly had the theme song and credits shown at the very beginning which never happens unless it's the Gran Fin, there was only one commercial break at the 35 minute mark & it ran a couple minutes over the hour so one 44/45 minute episode + one commercial break does not equal 60+ minutes of airtime.

I am betting that Capitulo 105 ended when Humberto told Aldonza about his promise to give the land to Valeria since that was right before the commercial break and what we saw after the break was Capitulo 106 with a lot cut off each individual episode. I also noticed after the commercial break that some of the Humberto/Aldonza lines were repeated which is what we usually see at the beginning of an episode where they repeat the very end of the previous episode.

Maybe someone who knows how to view the Capitulos from the Mexican broadcast can confirm this by checking out how Capitulo 105 ended or what Capitulo 106 looks like but I would be shocked if we didn't get truncated versions of both last night and I am curious if we missed anything good. I am certain some of the horse stuff was cut based off the comments being made during the Vero/Eman/Antonio dinner about the current horse competition and Eman advancing to the finals.

Assuming I am right, I hope this was a one time thing and not a sign of what Uni is planning to do to this TN in the future! The last thing I want is edited episodes as we near the final month+ as things start to get more heated and build to the finale. Please tell me Uni isn't trying to burn this off fast...and I am just overreacting. ;)

Linda - is that the text of your last comment? It may have been deleted because you didn't acknowledge the recap.

Without the recaps Caray doesn't exist.

Aldonza knows there will be another attack and if not right away she'll go look for one. She also knows Adelina will never abandon her so any decision she makes damns or saves Adelina. Lola on the other hand is an adult and wouldn't blame her for leaving but if she stays, knowing the risk, and is hurt it is not Aldonza's fault but foolishness on both their part. Problem for me is all of Aldonza's decisions do not consider anyone else. That lack in projecting any further than herself has plopped her in the situation she's in now, no chance of buying the property. It never occurred to her others had a competing interest other than Severiano.

Oh no, Linda! Sorry, I can't give you reassurance because it rings soooo true and makes a lot of sense! I did indeed feel gaps in the Vero/Eman thing; in the Sylvia/Tomas business. . .ah, man! I'm afraid you're right!

She's stuck by that damn promise she made Roberta...what was it again, I can barely remember?...that she wouldn't ever let a man take advantage? hurt her?...so she's decided that what that means is getting revenge on Sev and getting the land back, but really, despite all of "Mis Planes" there IS no plan. She's floundering and being trapped by that promise. Or at least that's what I think is happening, not that the production is helping us out by giving us any kind of insight into the thought process.

Is it too late for Roberta to come back and say, "Honey, this really isn't what I meant."

SBC - Maybe that was why. Sorry.. I always acknowledge the recappers and the amazing work they do. I had posted my previous comment BEFORE reading the great recap just because it was speculation and frustration on my part after viewing the episode and I wanted to quickly get it off my chest and see if anyone else suspected it as well or could confirm.

Now that I've read the recap, a big THANK YOU to Eli and the great way he broke down the episode as usual. Great job.

Diva, I remember Roberta making Aldonza promise her that she would never let Severiano hurt her again. Yep, she named him and, as far as I'm concerned, she's broken that vow. Now, Severiano IS totally to blame for his additional episodes of sexual harassment (though she enabled the second, sorry, but I think she did) but how could she have fulfilled her vow to her mom other than moving to North Dakota? Refusing to leave SL pretty much insures that Sev would hurt her. Surely Roberta didn't narrowly mean, "don't let him rape you again"?

Linda- I think you're totally right that this was 2 episodes smushed together. Anyone have any intel on when Uni plans to wrap this one and start the new tn? It is odd, and annoying, that they do this when the tn is in it's final episodes. They did that to Malquerida, which was REALLY annoying because there was a lot of important stuff happening in that in the final month.

Uni has announced the new one will start in August. And this could naturally wrap up by late August with minimal editing. So maybe they want to start the new one even earlier?

Linda- I just looked at the episode descriptions for 105 and 106 on Televisa's site. YOU ARE RIGHT. That means tonight we are either getting just episode 107 or 107 and 108.

Me lleva!

Okay, I propose that as far as the number in the title of the recap goes, we stick to the current numbering. We can make a note of the original episode numbers below the title, if someone posts them in comments.

Eli - thank you for the hysterically funny recap, and for watching so that I don't have to!

ALL the comment here had me LOLing, also.

Funny that "jumping the shark" came up because, I swear, this past weekend I was thinking the same thing, with Aldonza always breaking up with Cris, etc.

That lynch mob description reminds me of the one in Young Frankenstein. I will have to FFWD---> thru this episode, when I've got time, just to see it.

BTW, totes OT . . . speaking of jumping the shark, Sharknado 3 is on next week. It might actually make more sense than La Sombra, right now. (Yikes). I will be watching. What can I say???

Just did a quick ffwd viewing of episode 105 here is what I saw that was missing:

-Tomas tells Silvia about Pru's pay for killing request. She doesn't seem to take it seriously, but tells him he should stay away from Pru. He asks if they can be friends, with benefits. She laughs it off. He asks her out, as friends, and she accepts.
-Tere goes to see Hum and tells him she can't testify against Pru because it would be disloyal. It's obvious she's lying, but she doesn't come clean. Hum gives her the contact info for the oncologist he recommended.
-Tomas and Padre have a talk about if he's really serious about Silvia. Padre is skeptical. Tomas has noticed that Padre J has been down for the last few days, but Padre denies it and won't tell him the truth. Padre does recommend that Tomas start looking for another job and another place to live since he (Padre) isn't sure how much longer he'll be around. Tomas' ears perk up at this.
-Pato rips Mari a new one for all the stupid stuff she's done in the office lately. But then he bolsters her self esteem by saying she more than just a secretary-- she's the exec assistant and the face of the firm. Mari actually seems determined now to do better.
-Flavia speaks to Joaquin from the hospital. She has TB and has to stay in the hospital a few more days for treatment, but being there is making her depressed. She begs Joaq for another chance. He says no way, no how. She gets nasty and says he just wants to get rid of her so that he can marry Adelina. He points out that SHE was the one who left with her lover. He's going to also give someone else a chance, the difference is he'll be up front and honest about his. She says she's human and all humans make mistakes. Joaquin remains firm. She cries.

Vivi, thanks for that. Wow. Somebody was a little too free with the scissors. That wasn't fluff that got cut.

Epi 106:

-Lulu give Tomas advice on the kind of date to take someone as fancy as Silvia on.
- Sever gets a new henchman. REPEAT-- Sever gets a new henchman! One of Adriano's buddies goes to Sever looking for work. Sever says he'll call him when he needs him.
- Renato's dad lends an ear to Flavia and her woes. He can relate, he says. He made the exact same mistake she did. They commiserate.
-Sever recruits Domingo to take up a collection from the workers and folks around town to buy Padre J a new truck. Uh oh! He says it's a peace offering on his part, and something the Padre will accept because it will come from everyone in the town.

doris, I hate to admit it, but I think you might be right about Sharknado 3 making more sense than this. I will probably end up watching bits and pieces of it. (ha!)

Vivi, did nobody ever tell them not to run with scissors. Ugh!

I'm a girl!

Just thought I'd clear that up,lol

I wasn't sure I should say anything...I thought you might want to keep the air of mystery :p

On the Internet, no one knows you're not a cat....

Vivi, thank you for filling in episodes 105 and 106! I cannot believe how much they cut and NO, it is NOT fluff. So I was right about the Tomas and Silvia matter. I also wonder about Fridays episode because, as I noted, that scene when Tomas ran into the office was weirdly out of place and the music was obviously chopped.

Oh man, I hate it when they do this! All of that stuff was important. Thanks again, Viv!

That's a very good point Kat!

Correction- Sever recruits Melesio, not Domingo, who isn't even a character, to collect the money for the truck which will be a gift from "the town" for Padre.

Thank you so much Vivi for filling us all in on what we missed!!
Univision is my only option to be able to watch and understand their shows since I need subtitles of some kind (I watch with English but could get by with Spanish if need be although I'd have to constantly pause after practically every line to process what is being said which = takes forever. My comprehension strictly by ear? Mal. Muy mal.) but how were you able to view the Mexican capitulos as they were originally shown in their entirety? Are they available somewhere? Can you please explain. I'd love to know.

We'll see what we get tonight but it would be beyond disappointing if this smushing 2 episodes into 1 thing happened from now on especially knowing how much we are missing and knowing Uni is not above cutting important things. On Demand has this latest double episode w/ no commercials as 59 minutes compared to the usual 44/45 minutes for just one episode to give you an idea of how much was cut off each.

Doesn't Uni make money off the ads? How is combining 2 episodes and in doing do, cutting out all but one commercial break profitable? I would think that would mean less money.

Linda- It was no problem. All I did was a Google video search of those two episodes and one of the first vids to pop up was on YouTube. Both of these epis were on there (surprisingly) but the sound was sped up (perhaps to somehow thwart Televisa/Uni), so I'm not sure how much help it will be for you if you're still working on listening comprehension.

Thank you Eli.

Oh me oh my, how late to the party am I.

You know, it's never a novela featuring Cynthia Klitbo unless there's a frivolous use of fire.

"Whatever, I'm just going to adjust my beanie and go with it." Chicken Soup for the Soul.

Linda, maybe they smushed 105 and 106 because Premios Juventud is coming on Thursday. Maybe they won't do this again.

Let's hope.

Eli, Eli, Eli- good good good recap. Kinda fumny, I was watchin the crowd, and some of
Those people were laughing. The camera moved off of them quick.I guess they were extras. They should have told them, "you're linching a ho whose ruining our town, look mad". LOL!!!! They were happy to be on tv, their 12 or 15 minutes of fame was fun to them.
La Diva-were you the one that said, I'm surprised she didn't set herself on fire with all that booz on her breath?" Hahahah, she could be a living torch. I can't stand that woman. Shes a nasty foul mouth letch.
Aldonza is not going to get in fighting mode, until she tells somebody about what sev did (rape) to her. Yeah she told lola, but shed got her own drama going on. She gotta push out an engagememt ring wraped in a turd and remember not to flush it down the toilet. No she can't help her. I hope something good happens for the good guys this week.

Vivi - Thank you for the tip! :) I usually try to avoid watching any videos on YouTube that have to do with a current TN I am watching since there tends to be spoiler type videos shown on the right hand side as suggestions and I don't want to accidentally spoil myself which is why I didn't realize that this TN had full episodes up on there.

Lila - No capitulo on Thursday? You probably right then and Uni smushed 2 together so as not to mess up what day the Gran Fin lands on which in turn messes up when the next show begins. I won't go into detail since this is not the appropriate post but I already watched Tuesday's episode and it was back to the normal format in regards to the theme song/credits and commercials so hopefully it WAS a one time thing because I'd hate to miss anything from here on forward.

It's not an intrusion. We actually have a more recent post up over here http://caraycaray.blogspot.com/2015/07/la-sombra-del-pasado-capitulo-106-07-14.html
