When bad things happen to bad people La Sombra Del Pasado #114 (Mx 116) 07/27/2015

Hi patio peeps, below is your Monday night recap, a big thank you to Kat, AKA best team leader EVER for putting up a recap last week!

We get some footage from Friday night's episode, mainly Aldi telling Humberto that she's the one that will be talking to E-man, he had several years to man up and never did, she's also not going to give him the opportunity to lie to E-man.

Aldonza leaves and Humberto asks Adelina how Aldi found out that E-man was her brother. Adelina spills: Aldi had her fathers remains exhumed so she could have him cremated and spread his ashes in ES, when they opened his coffin only his body was there, she then questioned everyone and connected the dots. Ade tells him that she even went to see Sev, and Humberto tells her that Sev is such a bastard that he would never admit to being E-mans father.

Aldi arrives at the local jail and asks to see E-man, she tells the officer that it's important and that she needs to see E-man ASAP. The officer tells her that's a no go because they are transferring E to the pokey, the big house, the place where you better not drop the soap (I made that last part up). Aldi is outraged and starts to badger the officer which does not work in her favor, Pato happens to be there too and and she tells him they won't allow her to see E. It looks like Pato was unable to help her because next thing we know she shows up at Renatos office.

He tries to update her on what happened at the grave with her dads body but she tells him that she does not have the mental capacity to deal with that issue cause she just found out that:
(1) she never had a sister
(2) instead she had a brother
(3)Her brother is not dead
(4) Her brother is E-man
(5) He is not Ray's son but rather Severianos. Like, seriously dude.

And Renato is all like "Emanuel, the one in jail?" and she's like "yep, that one"- she's also worried about him being transferred to prison but Renato tells her not to worry and they leave his office, and omg who is dressing this man? Those pants don't fit him properly. Not that I'm looking at his butt or anything ( I was, and I'm not ashamed)

*Fluff scene with Gonzalo and Flavia, she tells him that she's going to be living with Joaquin again and that maybe she can win back his affection and Gonzalo tells her that if she stayed with him she wouldn't have to win his affection because she already has it *yawn* I don't care about these two*, Joaquin spots them from afar*

Like roaches when the lights turn on our badies run and hide:

Candela is super worried, Val has started to ask questions and she demands that Sev deny, deny, deny that E-man is his son, because if Cris finds out that E-man is his brother he will hate them forever. Sev tells her that they can't hide from what's coming, but Cande wants to give it the good ol college try. Sev tells her that Humberto is a witness to everything and Candela says that she will talk to him and get him to go along with their story, but Sev kills that dream when he tells her that Humberto is no longer team Evil.

Sev: "this is all your fault, you forced me to take away Roberta's child and give him to Humberto!"
Cande:"hey! None of this would be happening if you hadn't screwed around with that woman!"
Sev:"You know what, I don't regret doing it because Roberta was more woman than you!"

*******oh snap!*******

Candela slaps Sev and when she goes for another smack he holds her arm and tells her that she should go lock herself in her room because if Cris finds what he's searching for he will be coming seeking explanations.  Cris does come, and he yells for his mother and father to come out and explain what's going on, but they never come out of their rooms, because they are cowards that can't explain why they hid his brother from him and treated the other boy like dirt for years.

In stuff Lola did today:

She went to the candy shop to confront Dona Marga about her possible affair with Melesio. Marga gets a kick out of being accused of having an affair with Mel. She tells Lola that no- nothing is going on with her and Mel and that gramps is too good a person to ever have an affair. Lola begs forgiveness and Marga tells her not to worry. Lola goes on her way.

Mel is awesome
Melesio has a plan to help E-man and he needs Joaquin's help with it, this plan seems to involve a lot of other people, I love that old man. Adopt me Melesio, adopt meeeeeeeeeeee!

Humberto & Prudencia:

Prudencia goes to see Val's doctor, who by the way has never heard of HIPPA because he openly discusses Val's health with her. The bleeding has stopped so it should be safe for her to go home. Pru then finds it necessary to tell the doctor all the reasons why Val needs to come home, mainly, that she's not married to the father of the child and she does not want people to talk about her and you know, call her a hussy. The doctor has a look on his face that clearly says FML, at having to deal with Pru, ah but Pru is not done for the night, nope, she goes to visit poor Humberto and makes his day go from bad, to worse.

Humberto is sitting in his office getting his drunk on when his worse nightmare, I mean wife walks in. She starts by saying that she did not expect to find him drunk off his butt but she needs his help getting Val home. She hates how much control Cande has over her and the baby and she (Pru) should have more rights, before she can continue Humberto bellows at her to shut up.

He is not up for this conversation and he tells her that his life as well as E's is going to change. She wants to know why he is talking about the "bastard" and he tells her she will soon find out. Then he again shouts at her to get the hell out of his office, before she goes Pru tells him he needs help-she says this as her own lipstick is smeared all over her chin. Maybe they can go to rehab together and get a discount?

The rest of Mel's plan:

So Melesio has gathered a whole lot of people and taken them down to the police station. They tell the officer whose name I just can't remember that they have important information about E-mans case. The officer hears him and this is the story they tell:

Mel says he gave the horse to E-man to keep it from being killed and then men with him all witnessed it. Joaquin says he was with E-man the night it happened and that Mel gave E the horse. The officer wants to know why they never said anything sooner and one of the men says it was in order to support in Sev. The officer tells them that he needs to take statements from ALL of them and in the mean time they can join E behind bars- all the men go.

Renato and Silvia argue that with the new evidence E-man has to be set free. Nava is having a fit and accuses Ren and Silvia of staging everything, they tell him to prove it. The officer tells Nava that with the new information they can't proceed with the case. He tells Nava to call Sev and to tell him that he has to come down to the station and give a statement.

Nava leaves and calls Sev, he explains what's going on and Sev refuses to go to the station and tells Nava that he wants E-man to be locked up in the big house ASAP. Cande is in the room with him and motions for him to put the phone down; she tells him that with the given situation he can't send E-man to jail, maybe if they show some mercy on the boy Cris won't hate them as much. Sev tells Nava to drop all the charges against E and everyone else.

E-man is set free! And they are going to throw him a party at Aldonza's! She wants him to enjoy the love and support of everyone and won't tell him that he is her brother and Sev's son just yet.

Aldi also tells Adelina that she's not sure she will be able to forgive her for keeping so many secrets, and we get confirmation that Adelina always suspected that the baby was not dead AND SHE NEVER SAID A WORD TO ROBERTA ABOUT IT, let that sink in for a second.

Lola calls Dominga and tells her about the party, she tells her to bring tortillas, beans, some of her salsa and to sneak some bottles of liquor out to celebrate. And the thought of Dominga taking booze from Cande and Sev to celebrate E-mans release makes me laugh out loud.

Padre J calls Humberto and tells him to come over and celebrate with E, but Humberto is a hot mess and tells Jeronimo that he can't, he let the boy down and he's not even sure he could look him in the eyes.

In his study Sev also drinks away his sorrows and curses E-man. He says the boy ruined his life and that he will get his revenge against the disloyal dogs that turned on him. Well Sev, you should've wrapped it before you tapped it.

And I'm done for today!

Brilliant, brilliant, Eli! The recap moved quickly and packed a punch, much like the episode.

Tonight the crap will really hit the fan when Al lets the Eman secret out. Can't wait.

Does Cande really think Cris will give them brownie points for not sending Eman to prison last minute? She's delusional!

Eli, thank you for a marvelous recap. I always enjoy your writing style and look forward to Monday recaps. Looks like Sev is getting ready for his big reveil, everyone is manning up and ready to see that he gets his. I do hope Aldonza doesn't fool around too long to tell Eman who he really is and that he can get some peace knowing he has a family as disfunctional as it is. Love Mel, Eli. I too wish I would have had a dad like him. Wonder what the connection to Magda will be? My bet is they were lovers, pre-Dominga.

Hate to see this TN wrap up, and hope the patio stays together.

I don't think the Marga thing is anything other than how Mel described in the scene that got cut a few episodes back- his buddy gave the Candy House to the chica with the big, light eyes (Marga) and was always going on about her. I like how Marga was amused by the whole thing, but did admit that Mel's got a goin' on (el tiene lo suyo). He really does. He was the hero of the night.

Eliiiiii! Girrrrl, I LOVE the title. Cracks me up! Thank you, this was so refreshing and snappy and I love how you focused on something happy finally happening to our beloved E-man! YES!

I'll be back later but I also enjoyed seeing Sev and Cande coming apart at the scenes, both hiding in their rooms like the sick, twisted, cowards they are! Y'all who wanted to see Cande's braids unravel and fly around her hea like snakes are about to get your wish! It's a wonder that rosary, and her along with it, didn't spontaneously combust!!

And Sev, the ever impeccably dressed Sev guzzling liquor right from the bottle and letting it drip and stream right down his face and suit! Good! Be the pig you are, you demented swine, you! Yesssss, loved it! Can't wait to read other reactions. I certainly enjoyed the ep and your recap, amiga! Gracias!

*I also enjoyed seeing Sev and Cande coming apart at the scenes. . .

You know, I could play it off like I intended to say that and, while somewhat cute (If I say so myself), I meant coming apart at the seams. DOH!

And, Eli I'm going to be the non-hip one and go ahead and ask, "what is FML?"

Lila- FML=F*ck my life.

I agree with all the shouts of "brilliant." You really are a gifted recapper. Thank you for my Monday laughs.

I'll be back when my show is over. I'm drive by thanking during a commercial break.

Hello ladies! Thank you for all your feedback!

Lila, FML means f*ck my life (you asked!)

Oooooh! I'm tellin! ;D You know, when I saw the F I figured it must be naughty! Thanks, Sara!

Thanks, Eli! Guess I'm an ol' fogy!

Eli, you're a Gem sweetie pie, I said this before, I'll say it again. You should be a writer. You are good at it.
The anvils are falling, its rainin anvils, hoohoo!!!!
this was such a fun episode Eli, I love what you said about Mel," adopt me melesio, adopt meeeeeeeeee!" I had to laugh out loud.
He is a sweet man, I'd love to have him as a grandpa, he is so sweet, and Dominga as grandma, lola is so blessed to have them as
Grandparents.
I love the title:"stuff lola did today", that was comical.
Cande's not holding on to the rosary beads and cross for regular reasons people do it. She is afraid that all the nastiness is about blow up, and shes going to be exposed
For the lying manipulating mean vendictive fake that she is, and her son is going to see it
Also. This is what happens when you plant seeds of deceit, a large crop of SH*T comes up. And everybody is going to smell it, and theyll look in their direction. And they'll say"thats who been funkin up our town all these years". It Sucks to be a MENDOZA!!! on a telenova anyway Hiding from their son, what cowards. TIME TO MOVE OUT!!!!!!

Eli, I am checking in to tell ssay thank you for what I know is a sparkling recap! I am saving the pleasure of savoring it later when there's time to relax and enjoy.

Meanwhile, one thing occured to me last night as I watched Humberto coming apart--what if he and Rob had a fling and HE is Eman's dad? Don't know if someone mentioned this in the past but it would sure explain his wretchedness.

J in Oregon

I'm baaack!

I just loved the scattering roaches heading. So apt a description of Sev and Cande.

Oooo... J in O! That's an interesting idea!

J in O- Rob wasn't looking at anyone else back then except Sever. She was Sever obsessed and addicted. Hum is just wretched because Eman is the best person in his life and probably the person who loves him most in the world, and he is about to lose him forever.

Sara, I can't take my eyes off your chicken! Did I tell you guys that I cut my hair off and now it looks like Silvias?

J in O- I don't think we are going to luck out there, it seems that E-man is the son of evil spawn!

Thanks, Eli, for another rollicking recap. I love the title.

I also love to see Candy as she rips Sev a new one with that scary wicked queen look on her face. Hold on to your braids. It is going to be a very bumpy ride. She is the only one who can get away with that.

I love Mel, too, and I was blessed to have a daddy just as dear as Mel.

Sev..you are on borrowed time. Anvils , please. Forces of good... BRING IT.

Lila, I didn't know what FML meant either. Yikes ..Maybe I should forget that I know that one.

Sara..I found a very funny site that gives funny recaps of Outlander complete with captioned screen caps as irreverent as our Carlos's. I will try to email the address to you. I read and reread them. Too funny.

Yes, Camilla's eyes are hypnotic. Lol.

I love Silvia's hair. I bet you look hot, Eli!

Eli, this recap was pure magic. Last night was the most fun I've had watching this TN in weeks and the way you described the doings just brought it all back.

And can I add--that was what Adelina also admitted to?? She didn't tell her her own sister??? Good thing I didn't catch that last night, I might have thrown something at the TV. Her mopey face got on my nerves enough every time Allie let her have it. Those puppy dog eyes are not doing it for me.

Lord bless Mel--he comes through in the pinch time and again. What a brilliant plan! I loved the dear caballero, I forgot his name but the one who can't speak well, who just so excited to give his opinion and descriptions of everything. Just pure joy and of course, E-man smiling is all kinds of great---always.

Can I say how I loved E-man with Vero and looking so happy and she clowning around with everyone. I wish I wish...but I know I wish for probably nothing. sad face.

Seriously, Cris should question any parents that hide in their rooms with the doors locked. Tonight the s*** will hit the fan for sure when he learns that full truth...lord that poor boy has truths stacking to learn doesn't he?

Not looking good for Hum and you know what...he was right. How can he look that young man in the face? As for his other half--good lord, Pru is just coming unglued. That candy eating was all kinds of Pru showing her true uncouth side and then calling the kettle black with Hum's drinking. They both make me cringe.

Must See TV tonight!!

Daisynjay

Susanlynn - I'll keep an eye out for your email. I have not seen the Outlander TV series, but that site sounds fun.

So.... Em looked perfectly content with Vero. Are we super sure he and Lola are end game? I sure wish they weren't.

Eli, thanks for the recap!

ITA: "Those pants don't fit him properly. Not that I'm looking at his butt or anything ( I was, and I'm not ashamed)" I had the EXACT SAME THOUGHT last night. Those pants did absolutely nothing for what I'm sure is a lovely rump.
"Well Sev, you should've wrapped it before you tapped it." Instant fave. Going into real life vocab ;)

Way to go Mel! He really laid it all on the line for Emanuel. Family members: take notw of how strangers treat your son/nephew/stepchild/brother/boyfriend. Just FYI.

So does Mel's story play out like someone driving a stolen car? Mel, as Sev's ranch manager, had authority Eman would have believed and therefore this is Mel's fault not Eman's? Also, I thought Solitario was already sold, no? I thought that's what Mel was remembering when visiting E in prison and I had hoped that maybe he'd been sold to Don Antonio and that was his ace when he said he'd get Sev to drop the charges (that or Vero was Sev's daughter, but that had serious ick factor).

Once again, show, you ruin the supposed "true love" couple's story by having her work seamlessly as a team with the romantic rival. Not that I saw sparks flying when she visited Ren's office, but she told him all about E before Cris (rude, if you ask me) and then, together, they went to go deal with this family problem. All while Cris pounds uselessly on his parents door, crying "Mommy! Daddy! Why won't you talk to me?!" It was not a very heroic look for him. Then he had to go sit by the falls and ponder his horrendous parentage. That would've been a lovely moment of solidarity if Aldonza had been able to bemoan his luck with him. Sigh.

Adelina - give it up, love, you lost. It's over. And when Eman finds out! Ooh! The hurt! The pain! The guilt! Yikes!

Awww, thank you, Eli :) For your kind words and for your not-so-kind-and-I-mean-that-in-the-best-way-possible recap!

"Emanuel, the one in jail?" Yeah, I know that was a bit of a shock for Renato, but...how many other Emmanuels are there? And if it wasn't that one, then don't you think she would have told you which one? And he said he was going to do something, but it doesn't seem like he ever did. And I wasn't looking at his butt. Nope. His butt was completely invisible. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

"Like roaches...." I'm cackling already. Good grief they were being ridiculous behind their respective locked doors.

I loved Melesio's plan! Now THAT is how you make and execute a plan! And it was kind of true, except that Joaquin was the only witness. I'd have to go back and check, but didn't he say something like "Go on, get out of here" before firing into the air?

Thank you for noticing the lipstick on Pru's chin! I thought I was imagining that!

"Adelina always suspected that the baby was not dead AND SHE NEVER SAID A WORD TO ROBERTA ABOUT IT, let that sink in for a second." You know, now that I have, yeah, that was kind of crappy. And only helped Sev, since the whole point was to keep Roberta from ever looking. Uh, thanks for helping, Adelina?

Eli, that was awesome. Thank you again!

I wondered if Cris had wandered off on his self pity tour without his phone, because when Adelina approached Al, Al had been trying to call someone. I figured it was Cris.

I only watched bits and pieces last night. I have to go back and watch my recordings. I'm intrigued by Renato's pants now.

Daisy, I wonder if Pru is eating Candy or gum to hide her boozy breath?

This comment has been removed by the author.

Jacinto and Edmudo el Mudo also said they lied about the whole masked men knocking them out thing, on behalf of Sever. I loved that because they just basically accused Sever of making up the whole thing, when the part about the masked dudes (Eman and Joaquin) was actually true.

"Self-pity tour"

Good one, Vivi!

It's been a long time since I've lived in an apartment house, but if I still did, I'd want you to be a neighbor, Eli. Your irreverent take-no-prisoners humor is such a delight. Loved your OMG, who's dressing that man? His pants totally don't fit, not that I'm looking at his butt...but I was....
Well, words to that effect anyway. Funny and then some.

Ah and your Dear Abby words of wisdom "Wrap it before you tap it." Indeed. The baddies always blame others for their own wretched decisions.

Like everyone else, I'm enjoying seeing the evil characters beginning to melt into a puddle. Except for Humberto. Don't throw tomatoes, but I've always liked him and am ready to give him a pass, regardless of his nefarious cooperation with Severiano. So totally illogical for me to still be pissed at Adelina, but I am. I fear that may be a clue that my standards for my fellow females are higher than for the guys. But no tomatoes please! Perdoname.

Anyway...a juicy recap of a juicy episode. I imagine UA is hatching up a fine list of Karmageddons right now.

Typo: Edmundo el Mudo.

I too love how Edmundo just goes ahead and says his stuff and makes his jokes and just assumes one of his amigo will translate for anyone there who doesn't understand. And it's no big deal.

Eli--Thanks for bringing it on in great style. Having had to live with cockroaches for a time many many years ago, I know exactly what you mean (we lived in an old apartment building over a liquor store). The only thing I loved about it was the bathroom was bigger than the living room and it was on a corner with lots of light--and the Marine Barracks right across the street.

If I hadn't seen the episode, I would be able to re-create the celebration party perfectly. The only ones, for me, that were missing were Solitario and CaprichoII.

WHO IS E-MAN? If we ascribe to Nature over Nurture, he'd of ended up worse than Lardo, Adriano or Flavia. If we ascribe to Nurture over Nature, we would believe in a mini-Hum or lord help us, a mini-Val or mini-Pru. So, what's left out there in psycho-101 to believe in, eh? Friendship uber alles--Cris, Lola and Aldonza?

I'm sticking with Don Ant being the Marga pretendiente. Maybe not, but the writers have certainly kept the thread of the Candy House alive until almost the very end. He's not done yet--we HAVE to learn what Sev did to him, no?

Did you all notice that Vero was standing very close to Eman at the party? They looked really happy together. I wish it could be that way at the end, but I see a Lola-Eman hookup and Vero, being the wise and modern gal she is, will bow out gracefully.

Lila--I'm also behind the times with swear words being acronymed (I made that up) and then leave us Baby Boomers trying to figure it out. You didn't have to explain or apologize for Scenes vs. Seams. It was a good one.

Susanlynn--Please send me the Outlander recaps link, too. I can't seem to get anything useful done these days--I'm obsessed with all things Outlander. Haven't tried to make the remedy for carbuncles, though. Once upon a time when I was about 7, I had one on the inside of my elbow. My dear aunt heated up a narrow-necked glass flask and then held it over my carbuncle. As it cooled down, it created a vacuum and darn if the thing didn't start to drain. The core was the size of a pea and about the same color! That was as good a remedy as any.

To make it easy...here is the link for the funny Outlander recaps...I hope ...Let me know if this works as I am severely technologically impaired..

You should see brief recaps and very funny captioned screencaps. Someone has the same irreverent, devilish sense of humor and snark as our beloved Caray recappers.

I will cut Aldonza some slack for not telling Em right away so he could enjoy the moment, but I agree, Vivi and Emeraldrose...spill the frijoles once the party hangovers have worn off!

Lila, Sev dripping the bottle of booze all over him was disturbing! I was hoping he'd light up a cigarette, too. Alas!

Sara, maybe they're playing us with the Em/Vero/Lola triangle. Maybe it's Vero and Em. Or Em and Solitario and the circuit. Which would be a point in Vero's favor since she competes as well.

HellaShelle, there was a lot of vagueness about Solitario, pre-theft. First he was sold, but not delivered? Then it was more like there was a buyer, but he wasn't really sold. Then Em asked to buy him and Sev said he was too wild and was going to be put down. At the point where Sev said he was going to have the horse killed, I feel like he then has no right to complain about him being stolen or have him returned.

I agree, telling Renato first sucked, but it was all about her need to get to Emmanuel. Heaven forbid she use the law office phone to call Cris, just "Whoops, my cell phone battery died, and hey, by the way...."

JudyB, I feel like Humberto and Adelina both are in this weird grey area where they're somehow not evil, but boy did they do a good job of doing some bad stuff!

Anita, I agree, I think Don Antonio is the one who was buds with Mel and in love with Marga. And now that they're at the same party, could one of them please give us the whole scoop!!!

I did notice ren's clothes, they looked kind of
Frumpy, wardrob need a heads up, "no good lookin actors aloud to look frumpy on the show".

Diva, I agree with your point about Humberto and Adelina. And there's no logic to my lack of compassion for Ade...but...I just don't like her. Maybe it's the shoes!

But Eli, I forgot to add that I really liked your title. When Bad Things Happen to Good People is one of my favorite books, and it was a clever twist on that theme. I'm usually in such a hurry to read the recap that I never notice the title. But kudos to you.

And of course, of course, I didn't know what FML meant either. Learning something new every day.

"Once again, show, you ruin the supposed "true love" couple's story by having her work seamlessly as a team with the romantic rival"

I agree with you it was odd to leave him out, but I think they wanted the big reveal for later. but still, the actual sad truth to me, and Cris can be a sweetheart, but in a crisis, his "plans" aren't the best thought out. You need the Scooby Gang to get get it done. Even if she told Cris, I would still think she would have gone to Ren to make sure everything went right.

Judy, my dear, we would never throw tomatoes at you. There is more to pity in Hum because at least he is cognizant of what a screw up he made of his life and the wrong turns he made. Pru is absolutely clueless and sees nothing wrong in her behavior or choices. She doesn't deserve sympathy. She had the glimmer of a few moments when Cynthia made us feel for her, but the character blew up worse then what she was before.

Eli--Pru was chewing something, maybe to hide her booze breathe. But the way she was doing it...and it was a WAD of something. yeah-- manners not so much.

Daisynjay

Anita- I guess Eman shows us that nature is unique and individual to each of us-- not depending on who/what our parents were like (Rob, Sever), but instead something we are each born with. He does carry some of the markers of both his nature (inherited from parents) and nurture. His tendency to depend on booze to dull his pain could be both nature (Rob) and nurture (Pru). Both his passionate and melancholy natures certainly are reminiscent of Rob. His longing for acceptance, love and a family come from being deprived of those things in his home life (nurture, or lack thereof). His goodness, kindness and compassion are his own. Perhaps some, who are more generous than I, might say Hum contributed to that by showing Eman kindness and compassion as he grew up.

Always love to take a ride on the Eli train, so much fun and worth way more than the fare. Thanks

"and omg who is dressing this man?"

Vero was even dancing and looking for opportunity to engage in banter with the boys. Contrast Veronica with that dumbass Lola running and confronting Marga without a real clue. Jeeze

I kept thinking Aldonza would give Cris a courtesy call, Emanuel is his brother and great point Hellashelle, Aldonza ran to her bf Renato first.

Emanuel is Adelina's nephew but not Raymundo's son, no way she wanted any child in the family not related to Ray. I keep thinking of all the times she trash talked the poor guy. I really hate her.

I understand Humberto's shame but I don't think Aldonza should get to decide if they see each other or not.

I can't explain it either. Humberto could always blame his actions on having been blackmailed into it by Sev because he desperately needed a job. Adelina just didn't want to get yelled at by Aldonza and didn't get to the point where she honestly said "I'm a coward" quickly enough. She spent all that time blaming it on how Aldonza was just too fragile to hear the truth, and it was unfair to Roberta's memory, and, and, and....

Huh, tofie, I didn't think of it that way. I could see where Adelina doesn't care about anyone not related to her beloved Ray, the one and only love of her life, blah, blah, blah.

Oh-- crossed tofie and I agree with Diva. Good point on Adelina. I don't know, the more that comes out of her mouth and her behavior, the more I just have no sympathy or understanding of that woman. It's always been about what SHE interrupted as best, or thought someone needed to know and in the long run, to quote a famous author "You Know Nothing...." we'll just leave out the Jon Snow part. Can you imagine if she would have made sure Allie got her much needed counseling and she fessed up what she knew and suspected?? Well, we wouldn't have a story, but STILL...

I do worry a bit still for E-man considering Sev hates the ground he walks on, but at this point, I just don't see what he could do and get away with it.

Daisynjay

Adelina even told Irma she broke it off with Joaquin because she would never feel about him the way she did Ray. It was Ray or the Hiway.

I always had hope for Humberto and believe PJ did to, knowing he didn't have a rotten core but was weak. I'm afraid he will be first on Severiano's git ya list since he suspects foulplay in Padre Sixto's death when he provided a false death certificate and didn't believe the story of how Severiano lost his arm.

Sever was babbling about making Eman and the ranch workers pay. But what's he going to do? Fire all of them? He kind of needs them to work his ranch. I do fear that at this point he'll just opt to kill Eman.

Daisy-"...It's always been about what SHE interrupted as best, or thought someone needed to know and in the long run..."

Its scary how much that makes her sound like Cande.

She is Aldonza's Cande

tofie and Sara--Bullseye

Daisynjay

On the dartboard. Right between Adelina's eyes.

Excellent recap Eli!

LOL’d most of the way through!

Favorite line: Well Sev, you should've wrapped it before you tapped it.

High and mighty Adelina…be gone!

tofie, I'm wondering if Sev even cares about getting El Santuario anymore and how that's going to play into the when/if/why of potentially killing Humberto. If he does it now, Humberto can't pin any other crimes on him, but the property goes to Pru. Would she be easier or more difficult to manipulate into giving the property to Val and/or Sev? But if he waits, he risks Humberto saying something, but knows that Humberto has already committed to giving the property to Val in another <9 months. Decisions, decisions.

Vivi, oh dear, and if he does kill Eman, he would have one less problem to deal with plus it would be yet another way to torture Aldonza, now that she knows who Eman is.

I think Severiano still wants/must have El Santuario, he is one more argument with Cande away from homelessness. Pru would be infinitely easier to deal with unless Humberto really does intend to give it to Val but now he might just give it to Emanuel.

"one more argument with Cande away from homelessness" *snort* Indeed! Since the land is a bribe not to abort BabyLardo, I would think Humberto wouldn't go back on his word, but I don't think Sev is privy to that deal. He also doesn't know that Prudencia is starting to get pissy about them keeping Val at their house, and that she's determined to get everything in the divorce and doesn't see why she should give El Santuario to Val, since what's Pru's will be Val's anyway. But a little booze, a few pills, "here, sign this" and it might be easier dealing with Pru than Hum.

All it would take for him to dispense with Pru is flash something shinny in front of her, throw it into oncoming traffic and there would be no more Pru.

"Nooooooo! Not my wiiiiiiiiine!" And fin. Valeria inherits all. Though I expect the legal process would take some time. And then he and Val can fight over when she signs it over and which one of them gets to evict Aldonza.

Eli, your recap was excellent.

"and omg who is dressing this man? Those pants don't fit him properly. Not that I'm looking at his butt or anything ( I was, and I'm not ashamed)" had me laughing in appreciation.

"Sev:"You know what, I don't regret doing it because Roberta was more woman than you!" I must admit that I took grim satisfaction from this utterance as I believe Cande is as culpable as Sev for so much that occurred. It is she who made the suggestion about what should be done with Eman, and so it went. I'm extremely concerned that Sev now has even more resentment and loathing for his son, which I didn't think was possible.

I like Adelina but her discomfiture is of her own making. She submerged the truth for far too long. Aldonza will forgive her. Eventually.

Loved Mel marshaling the troops and the joyous exodus of Eman and company from the jail. Renato and Silvia looked so out of place at the desk - their composure made it clear they were not part of the outspoken, loyal and feisty crowd determined to get their friend out of jail. I do like them both but suspect their futures do not entail them living here.

Anita, your “WHO IS E-MAN?” explanation was inspired. Truly.

Eli, thank you so much!

Diana

"All it would take for him to dispense with Pru is flash something shinny in front of her, throw it into oncoming traffic and there would be no more Pru."

I can see that happening Tofie!

Lol, Diana..."submerged"...I see what you did there ;)

Eli - Thank you for the finely honed snarky recap!!! You had me laughing out loud too many times.

Finally the truth about E-man comes out.

And I'm loving all the comments here from The Patio. I can't believe this turkey is almost done.

susanlynn - thank you for posting the link! I managed to find it and will enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. Their opinion of Sharknado 3 was spot on. The show jumped the shark (pun intended) with the opening scenes. I ended up reading a book throughout most of that movie. I'm done and movin' on. ;-)

Good work, Eli.

I agree with Tofie about Adelina. No child that isn't Ray's would have been acceptable to her. Was there ever much detail provided about the backstory of this triangle? Was Adelina carrying so much resentment about Roberta getting Ray that she "stole" Aldonza by being her caregiver and deliberately concealed her suspicions about the allegedly dead infant?

Doris, we're just waiting for the timer thingie to pop out!

Urban Anthropologist, I don't think it even reached the level of being a triangle. Ray saw Roberta and that was that. Adelina wasn't even a blip on his emotional radar. If I remember correctly, by the time Adelina came to Santa Lucia it was to attend Aldonza's baptism and Roberta was firmly in "everybody hates me!" territory and neglecting Aldonza. It was Ray stopping Adelina at the bus station and telling her...not to be embarrassed?...that got her to stay after Roberta used "Adelina has a crush on you" to keep from telling Ray what she and Adelina were really arguing about.

I'm with Diana on Adelina. She made her own bed and now she's got to lie in it, but I don't of her as a "bad" person, just weak and kind of pathetic. I don't think she's out to hurt anyone, the way Pru and Cande want to actively hurt Aldonza; I don't think she's malicious. She was there and thought she and Rob would be raising Aldonza and the new baby, so I don't think she hated Eman.

I will admit, I do think it was probably easier for her to let things lie because the baby was Sev's and taken by Sev. Had it been Ray's child, I could see her fighting much harder to see the baby and know where it was buried. If not, she probably would've created her own holy spot for it's soul.

She's not a fighter by nature, she's a "settler" and I think it was easy for her to settle for the facts as presented to her with just the niggling doubt in her mind. I think subconciously Adelina associates his existence with her humiliation (Rob exposing her hidden love for Ray and destroying any fantasies surrounding that), the revelation of her sister having an affair (thus hurting the man she loves), the death of the man she loved and her sister's becoming a murderer and then sterile. I think that's why it was so easy for her to suppress any doubts and just whistle along her merry(ish) way. Plus, I think he's tied up in her guilt. She blames herself for Ray dying. To protect her sister and niece, she kept that secret, but to have caused Ray's death then raise the son of his murderers? Even loving Rob, she hated her too, more so when she thought of her with Sev, which is prob all she would've been thinking about when she looked at E. It was more convenient for her to believe the baby was dead, and not have to examine all of those feelings, just like it was easier for Rob to drink and smoke and flirt and more rather than face her guilt. It's no wonder it's easier for Aldonza to push Cris away than to examine her feelings about the rape, rather than seek help to overcome its trauma.

*high five* for that analysis, HellaShelle!

High five, and standing ovation for that analysis, hellashelle!

Just a note to Diana, Goddess of Wisdom (hehe): It was Vivi that gave us the inspiring analysis into E-Man. I merely brought up the conflict.
