Capítulo #97 8/12/15

"Bits and Pieces"

Part 1

Another episode very much like last night: a little of this and a little of that so the recap will be much like the episode.

Back at the university where the kids are signing up for the dance contest, Hilda offers her services to help harass Carmen to Francis and her pals.

Estefany and Esteban are playing chess. This time Esteban wants Estefanh to do things his way since her way hasn't worked out too well: she is living woth the Carmona's.

Granpappy Porfirio and a ranch hand are feeding the livestock as Profirio is telling him about animals having feelings and being a part of the family. The burro is a better person than some of those he left behind in San Bartolo el Chico. Conchita appears bringing alfalfa for the rabbits.Granpappy wants to know when she is going for bread because he wants to go with her. They go on to flirt with each other.

At the Velasco's, Isabel is in her bedroom reading out loud about Guatemalan author Miguel Asturias when Santiago comes in all agitated looking for some water and pills to take care of pain. Isabel asks if something is wrong. Nothing he just needed a pill to take care of pain. He takes several pills. Isabel tells him that the pills are not good for him. He disagrees. He is feeling much better. Isabel asks if they will do the same for her. He starts making noises and waving his arms ln the way to his gym bag. Isabel is not happy because here she is in a difficult time having sacrificed everythig so that the family can be okay and she can also get him back as a husband. He apologizes and tells her he just has to go exercise. She says he is acting strange and then there are the pills he is taking. He insists he is fine. She asks what has he done. He says nothing and asks her not to insist. He has an important thing to tell her. "Nobody in this world is guilty" . He asks her not to go into the original sin thing and he leaves limping with his gym bag. Isabel cannot believe it and then adds everyone thinks she is the crazy one?

At the Carmona's Conchita, Granny Perpétua and Granpappy are in the kitchen. María comes in asking if they need help. They make small talk about a pork they had once made with "verdolagas"(a particular green vegetable whose English equivalent I do not know) and green sauce. Granny thinks she heard something like a door slamming. María heard nothing. Granpappy says he heard it and even thought they were coming looking for him. But maybe it is nobody. Granny says he is being weird.María says it was the wind that slammed the door. Granpappy does him imitation of the slamming door. They all laugh

Santiago arrives at the gym all hooded and with his hands jabbing like Rocky Balboa. He is lit. He wants the trainer to get him going. He took his pain meds with alcohol. He is not too successful with the overhead presses: the barbell is far too heavy for him. He ends up tripping all over the treadmill.

Facundo and María are in their room. Facundo asks María a question he never has: would she ever cheat on him. She is like what? He explains Florencio's visit and even does an imitation of Florencio telling him that if he Facundo didn't make María happy, Florencio would take her away from him. María assures him she is in love with him. He is the only man for her.

Part 2

Dinner at the Velasco's. Corina tells Isabel she needs to take better care of her husband: the calm ones are always the worst. Ale and Isabel stand up for Santiago. Felipe announces he has entered the dance contest. Isabel and Corina would love to enter, too. Isabel dances around.Santiago comes in from the gym.Corina makes fun of him. He is not eating with them. He is not hungry. Isabel asks what he is hiding from her. He is not hiding anything different from her than what she was hiding from him. He leaves the dining experience. Corina tells Isabel it is all her fault.

Back at the Carmona's, Carmen is asking to be a part of the dance competition and Facundo is reminding her that she is being punished.
Carmen says her mom already gave her permission. Facundo has no problem with a university dance contest, but she has behaved really badly. She mentions Diego and it only makes things worse. Carmen tells Facundo not to be jealous because he is still the most handsome guy in the workd. She kisses him on the cheek and he just chuckles and wants to recount it again to María who was there to hear it in the first place.

Then we have the black and white horror dream with some known mouths and some unknown moiths talking about Isabel and Santiago getting a divorce. Isabel and Santiago seem to be in a maze of stairways and log hallways as "divorciados" echoes in the background.

Later that night, Isabel amd Santiago wake up screaming in their bed. They both dreamed they were getting a divorce. They agree they are family, they don't want to lose each otherr, they apologize and forgive each other. Whatever they will be together. Santiago asks for a hug and she says that was just what she was going to,ask for. they fall back asleep hugging each other with Santiago snoring.

In the morning Santiago is the first to awaken so he spends the time thinking about how he did Isabel wrong trying to drive her crazy. He was blinded by his jealousy with the whole Facundo thing and influenced by Mireya. Isabel is a good person. He will never hurt her again. His love will be stronger. It will be the greatest love ever. He loves his puchis. He watches her sleep. These two scenes were very sweet.

At the Carmona's, Carmen and Diego are getting ready to go to the dance competition rehearsal. A smiling Facundo is there to remind Diego to be on his best behavior. Carmen tells them the whole family can come to the competition. Granny is there to give them a basket with "criadilla" (testicle) tacos to take with them. When they leave Granny tells Facundo that Diego is a good boy and he needs to accept that Carmen deserves to be happy..

In the kitchen, Granpappy and Conchita are flirting again. Granpapy says that women are like tacos, the more meat the more tasty. He tells her never to decide to go on a diet because she is "gordibuenota" (a nice chubby girl) . Conchita is taken aback being called chubby. She is just normal and big-boned. Whatever she says is okay with granpappy. Granpappy wants to give her a bear hug but that is not happening.

It Is rehearsal time for the dance competition at the university. Everyone is there: Car,en, Diego, Felipe, Francis amd her girls, amd Hilda.
Of course it is Carmen and Diego's turn to rehearse their dance routine first. It is "Rock Around the Clock" Carmen falls at one point but it is no big deal. Hilda starts putting the moves on Felipe. Francis has to make a big deal about it asking Felipe if he is going out with Hilda. He looks uncomfortable. Up to this point Francis was quiet and just dancing.

Part 3

Carmen notices Hilda with Felipe and does not look happy.

The Amarripa boys are talking about Franklin and he appears. Could he be a mirage??? That they are all seeing at once. Franklin is on the phone telling his client Martina that he is is San Bartolo el Chico and is going to get to the bottom of the matter.franklin comfronts them for sending him on a wild goose chase. If they do not tell him where Porfirio Carmona is they are going to find out that the devil is not red but a mulatto.

Back at the dance rehearsal. Carmen notices thay what Francis said was true and points it out to Diego that Hilda and Felipe are really in to each other as she sees them dance. Francis shows up and Carmen says it is really strange that wherever she goes Francis shows up. So Carmen goes off to dance and leaves Diego with Carmen. Diego asks if Francis entered the contest just to annoy him and Carmen or what? She is just there to make things better with her parents after that pig smell of a girl called the police on her. Diego hopes ther will be no "problems".

The Amarripas are not answering Franklin question about where Porfirio is. Why not sit and drink and talk about it suggests one of the Amarripas?

At the rehearsal all of the kids are dancing to an old Mexican rock and roll song.

Corina and Frederick are old friends and are catching up. He is the only one who understands her. She tells him that Facundini is for her. He thinks she must be joking.

Beto is on his way out. Granpappy wants him to go to the store on the way back and bring him some eggs. Why when we have a pile of them asks Granny. Granpappy gives his reasons (they are going to run out of them, etc.)and ends up callimg Granny an old busybody.

Frederick is remembering how when Isabel was in high school, how Corina liked her classmates who were boys and how embarrassed he was. No surprise Facundo is next on her list. Corina comes back with but of course it is all a joke. She cannot deny how handsome, tall, manly he is but she is not going out with guys younger than her. They laugh. She has her own fiancé in Italy. Frederick is jealous he doesn't have anyone. Corina jokingly says but she is the Italian girl coming to get married. (Shameless plug for "Muchacha italiana viene a casarse"). She needs to get home to cook. She leaves the bill for Frederick to pay. He didn't bring his wallet. Whoopsie.

Franklin is sitting alone at the table at the bar when tía Humilde shows up. The Amarripas have disappeared. She wants to know why he wants to find the whereabouts of Porfirio. Franklin says it is strictly personal and he cannot tell her. She has no problem telling him: Porfirio is in Mexico City.

As she is telling, Porfirio awakens with a start from a nap and isn't sure what is going on.

First, Sara - thank you. I watched Ed Sullivan as a child - what talent he had on his show. He always seemed like a nice, genuine, unassuming man.

I only saw a few minutes of this but as always Jarifa, your stellar recap was so thorough, I felt as though I missed nothing. You always paint such a vivid picture, you lead our minds to imagine the events just as you wrote them. In your hands, simple phrases like "He leaves the dining experience" convey everything we need to know. Perfectly

Question: So, who/what is more annoying - Francis or Hilda? Answer: Either/or except when both are in the same scene..."Hilda offers her services to help harass Carmen to Francis and her pals". Sigh.

"Francis shows up and Carmen says it is really strange that wherever she goes Francis shows up". Ummm, really Carmen? You hadn't noticed Francis has been hawking you since she first saw you months ago?? Where is my beanie. :)

"Beto is on his way out. Granpappy wants him to go to the store on the way back and bring him some eggs. Why when we have a pile of them asks Granny". Perpetua, must you always ask intrusive questions (in addition to giving unwanted and unsolicited advice)? Please mind your own affairs.

Carmen notices Hilda with Felipe and does not look happy. One of the few scenes I did see seemed to indicate Hilda and Felipe were indeed taken with each other. Please Feli, don't go there!

Jarifa, thank you so very much.

Diana

Jarifa- I'm up too late, but wanted to say thank you!

Quick comment. Diego can dance. He's a keeper. Felipe cannot dance. That would be a deal breaker for me.

Thank you so much, Jarifa! I won't be able to watch any episodes until this weekend. Like Diana, I feel as though I miss nothing when I read your recaps. They are filled with detail and that is especially difficult to do on these "bits and pieces" episodes.

I really wonder if Pedro Damian is good buddies with Larrosa. I could swear that the random Italian guy that showed up at the opening of Maria's boutique was Pedro Damian and now we have Corina making the joke about Muchacha italiana viene a casarse.

Thank you again, Jarifa!

Happy you guys enjoyed it.

Jarifa

Were the drugs Santi took Isa's happy pills? He was really bouncing off the walls. The shared nightmare about divorce would make it seem that Isa really does love Santi and wants to stay with him. There might be some hope for those two nuts. Their scenes together last night were cute.

I think Carmen is in love with the idea of Feli. Look how much fun she and Diego were having dancing. He's totally the right guy for her. Even the family seems to be thawing towards him. However, I would not wish Hilda on anyone, much less poor Feli.

I thought Maria reacted very calmly to Fac asking if she'd ever cheat on him. I would not have blamed her had she smacked him with that brush. I want Fac to not disappoint me when Stefi finally shows him that photo of the supposed near kiss. I want him to laugh in here face and say Maria would never cheat on him.

Vivi, I was surprised María reacted so calmly with Facundo. It was almost as she could understand his feelings of vulnerability under it all and wanted to put his mind at peace. Hilda and Carmen are sure cut from the same cloth. Could not stand Hilda as she started playing with Felipe's name as she always does with Beto's.

Diana, I, too, hope Felipe "does not go there" with Hilda. He is far too decent.

Sara, I get a kick out if them doing cross promotions in these shows. It would be something if that were Pedro Damian in that earlier episode.

Jarifa

Comments about Mon's ep. I forgot to mention:

Loved Isa's imitation of her mother while they were watching AIII.

Also, loved Estefay's reaction to Esteban when he approached right after she just found out Flor was rich.

Correction: I think that was Tues night's ep I mentioned in my last comment.

Jarifa: thanks so much for your awesome recap. I find I've lost interest in this one, so reading your recaps makes it more interesting. Hopefully, now that we are in ultimas semanas, the action will pick up.

I thought maybe Diego would be the end game for Carmen because, and I know this is subjective, he is more handsome than Feli and it seems like the handsome guys win in these TNs. I think Carmen likes both guys. They each bring something to the table.

Was surprised Granny defended Diego. Thought she didn't like him.

Nanette, that surprised me, too. It also was nice to finally see Facundo backoff.

Jarifa

Thanks for the wonderful recap!

Nanette: I think Granny is in her redemption phase, after how low she fell with Maria.

Diego and Carmen are super cute together so hope they are end game. I'm sure the writers think that Feli then has to end up with someone else but Puhleeze don't let it be Hilde. She doesn't deserve a nice guy.

Can't believe we are already in Ultimas Semanas! I'll miss this one.

Carvivlie, I agree that consensus is Feli "needs" to end up with someone.

But Hilde??? Really.

There are no other options. Well, that's not entirely true. Just none we want.

I've had a sinking feeling Francis will end up with someone and I suspect (no spoiler) she will end up with whomever Carmen doesn't "take".

I utterly refuse to believe the writers would put Hilde with anyone. That said, is Francis any better? Shiver...

Diana

The only girl I can see as a possibility is Nicole. She does Francis' bidding but albeit with a bit of conscience. Maybe she can be redeemed. I would hate for Francis and Hilde to end up with anyone. Neither deserve Feli or Diego or any nice guy.

Yes, Nicole is the lesser of all evils. But she's continued to stay in Francis' orbit so for that reason, I just can't root for her.

Diana

Jarifa - Thanks a bunch.

Fac did a pretty good voice imitation of Florencio - cute.

My take is Fac's insecurity about Maria with Florencio shows how much he treasures her now. Plus since he was in love with Maria but still overstepped with Isa, I do like that he fears Maria could overstep with Florencio in the same way. Serves Fac right, though Maria is not leading Florencio on in any way.

Why did Feli show up at a "dance" rehearsal? He hardly moved his body at all! Even if he came off with jerky, off-kilter moves, it could've been endearing. I don't get the sense that he's into Hilda. I guess he's there to just gawk at Carmen.

Santi was strange last night, but I did enjoy his antics.

Niecie: Fac's imitiation of Flor last night, which was funny, reminded me of Isa's imitiation of her mother the ep before. Both on target.

At one time I would have been rooting for a Nico hook-up with either Diego or Feli, but her going back to being a Frances wanna-be struck her off my list.

Sara: how are you doing?

Carvivlie, I still don't trust Granny and probably never will.

Niecie, I don't expect much from Felipe in the dance department either. Sure hope he does not fall in the Hilda-Francis trap.

Diana, I hope Francis and Hilda both end up alone.

Jarifa

I survived the first day with no real mishaps!

I enjoyed peeking at your comments when I could.

I've never understood why EVERYONE has to be paired up. I hope that Francis and Hilda end up alone.

Oh look at me repeating Jarifa. :-)

I agree with you, Jarifa!

Sara: was wondering how you were doing without Topper.

Jarifa and Sara, yes. Francis and Hilda deserve to be alone.

I think all of us agree there is nothing wrong with being alone. But in Francis and Hilda's cases, where they've been so manipulative to ensure Carmen and Rocio don't end up with their true loves (whomever that turns out to be in Carmen's case :)), they don't deserve that particular happiness.

Sara, congrats on a successful day back. My brother is a teacher and he possesses infinite patience and many other necessary qualities I lack. Teachers, fire fighters, police and those in our military are among many unsung heroes.

Diana

Nanette - it comes and goes. It's hardest at night when we are going to bed. Topper was always there to "tuck us in"

Feeding times are also difficult

We all agree on Hilda and Francis! Perfect anvil for them because of the attention and sense of belonging they crave.

Jarifa

Hilde and Frances deserve to be alone, but not Feli. Maybe they could introduce someone for him (or Diego, if Feli wins the Carmen sweepstakes) in the gran finale.

Sara: I know how tough it can be. I still miss Neo every day.

Capítulo #98 8/13/15

"Pieces and Bits"

Part 1

We left Granpappy awakening with a start yesterday unsure of what was going on but disturbed because he feels as if the past were returning and making itself present to him only to break his soul into pieces. He is spooked.

Isabel is telling Corina that she wants to get her marriage back but she is not sure what she will do if Santiago has other plans. Corina wants to know where she gets all of her melodrama. Isabel asks her when she is going back to Italy. They just don't get allong She comtinues telling her mom to go to the shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe to get the devil out of her once and for all. Corina hands it right back to her telling her everybody knows that she is has never been a good wife or mother. Isabel says if she is that way it is because it is was she saw her mother do. Corina calls her intolerable. Isabel wants to know when she should make her plane reservation. Corona says she will not be run off. She will go when she plans to go not one day sooner or later. Isabel does not want to fight anymore.

Diego and Carmen arrive at the Carmona house after dance practice. She is all sore from the practice and Diego tells her how well she did. She admits he helped her. As they chit chat Granny Perpétua comes to shoo him out since they were already together all afternoon and Facundo could appear at any minute and kick him out. Diego blows her a kiss and leaves. Granny and Carmen are all smiles and giggles.

At the company Isabel is on the phone in the lobby when Florencio arrives. They make small talk and he makes sure she knows he is a partner in the company. She says that things are not good at the company. He knows. He is good at business not so much at love. Only one woman interests him. Isabel knows it is María and wonders what it is about her that makes all of the men drool after her. Is it a saint she has entrusted herself to or a certain perfume? She will have to ask her. She leaves. Florencio is left muttering and greeting the receptionists.

In the boys room Beto and Jaci to are sitting on their beds. Beto is ignoring a call from Hilda and Jacinto is reading Dostoevsky. He then gets a text to go meet Rocío. Jacinto is getting tired of covering for him but he says that he will do it one more time but if they ask him he will not lie. He will pretend to be asleep if they come into the room looking for Beto.

At the Velasco house Isabel is on the couch with the maid Peloncha watching "Amor Imposible" looks like she is hooked.

Florencio is wondering what is wromg with Hilda when he arrives hime and she is nervously pacing all around. She is upset, that she canmot get anywhere with Beto. Florencio says it is the same with him and María. She even came to the city, started working for his mom and Nothing has happened. She asks him what are they going to do to get those they love to love them. According to Florencio the only thing left is to go dance at Chalma and ask for a miracle (they showed the Chalma pilgrimage in QPTR). They will have to go in pure devotion on their knees.

Facundo and María are in their bedroom. She has missed him. It is kissy face time. They love each other.

Beto arrives at the boutique where Rocío has set up a romantic rendezvous in the little back room. She doesn't want to be in a bad mood with him due to the problems between their parents. They also love me another and kiss? She is expectimg to make love but he wants to save it for marriage when God and their parents have blessed their union. That is how he was taught and that is how he wants it. She tells him that that is the most beautiful thing he has said to her since they met.

Jarifa, the first part of your recap was excellent. It was (as always) a delightful read.

“We left Granpappy awakening with a start yesterday unsure of what was going on but disturbed because he feels as if the past were returning and making itself present to him only to break his soul into pieces” made me wonder what the past held for him and hope it is revealed shortly so he can have peace.

“According to Florencio the only thing left is to go dance at Chalma and ask for a miracle”. I make no pretense of being able to predict the future, but I highly suspect Hilda and Florencio will not end up with those they wish to be with. I might suggest they offer their prayers for any number of good intentions. I believe they are wallowing in unrequited love and will continue to do so
.
I loved the little dance Facundo and Maria did. It is nice to see them so happy.

OT, I commented yesterday how handsome Eduardo looked in all white. He looked even handsomer tonight dressed in black. Sigh.

I so missed the animals and Susana. Hearing the content squeals of Margarito and seeing the feisty Susana never fail to make me smile.

Sleep is calling so I will catch up with the rest of your recap tomorrow.

Diana

Part 2

It is the next day and Isabel is awakened by Santiago's snoring and cannot do anything about it. She starts to meditate and chant in desperation.

At the Carmona breakfast table, neto is nowjere to be found. Jacinto covers for him saying that he left really early. Estefany is at the table which is odd because Granpappy says she usually isn't up until the sun is high in the sky. Carmen womders where Beto could be because the iniversity isn't open yet. Susana asks Jacinto if he said where he was goimg. Jack to says no. María decides she is going to the store/boutique. Facundo wants to go with her. She asks if it is to keep tabs on what she is doing. He says he just wants to go with her. She looks at him with disbelief but says okay. Granpappy says to Facundo that it is a good idea to take care of María because there are a lot of loose wolves running free in the city. Perpétua tells Facundo not to smother María because he comes across as if he does not trust her. He says it is the wolves, the vultures and the scarecrows, especially those who are roaming around close by (Florencio), that he does not trust. Perpétua must shakes her head.

At the company Santiago wants help from Esteban: he wants Facundo to sell him back some shares. Esteban says he will help: first he will ask Facundo if he is interested in selling but it will take time: a couple of years. Santiago asks if they haven't had this conversation before. Esteban says it is like dejà vu. They are left wondeing.

Rocío an d Beto fell asleep fully dressedon the floor of their love nest at the boutique. They are awakened by María and Facundo opening the door to the room they are in. Beto and Rocío scramble to their feet. Facundo asks Beto if he coujld not find a better place for a love nest. He says there are more apporpriate place with 5 letters in their name; like you go to a lagoon to fish, go to a church to pray . . . He Is in a joking mood. Rocío seems very embarrassed. Beto asks Facundo why he is embarassing her like that. María says she will take care of the situation. He and Beto are off to the office. Rocío is left saying to María now she wishes this had never happened.

Carmen has just paid a visit to the Velasco house to see Felipe. She wants to know if he is going out with Hilda. No, he is not. He kneels before her and holds her hands. She tells him she is just there as a friend and she is not jealous. He jumps up saying Diego knew how to win her heart and then hurriedly starts talking about the dance rehearsal and contest. Isabel comes in and Carmen decides it ks better for her to go. Isabel tells her nobody is kicking her out. Isabel saw the swimsuit ad in the paper and thinks that Carmen looked really good and has some talent for modeling. She has to mention Diego of course which just makes Felipe cringe. Felipe says they can finish talking another time.

Part 3

Facundo and Beto arrive at the office where Facundo is lecturing him on how it is one thing to be going out with the girl from across the way but another to be using his mother's business for this activity. It is like they were on display. Beto apologizes. The conversation goes on to respecting Rocío whe Esteban knocks on the door wanting to talk to Facundo alone. When Beto leaves Esteban says that Facundo knows what a bind the company is in and asks Facundo if he would be willing to sell his shares in the interest of saving the company. Facundo says he will think about it but clearly is wondering what is up.

Rocío and María are still at the boutique. María's big worry is if Rocío used some form of birth control so she would not get pregnant. Rocío tells her what Beto said about them waiting for the blessing of God and his parents just like they taught him. Rocío thanks María for her understanding. A much happier María sends her off to breakfast.

At the Carmona kitchen, Conchita is preparing cactus, getting the needles off of them and pricking herself. She starts going over all of the wonderful dishes she knows how to cook that the Carmona's won't try. Granpappy wants to know why his little mango is talking to herself. He doesn't want any food. He is just coming on by to ask her if she has really thought it over. She wants to know what. He starts flirting with her about getting married.

Felipe confronts Isabel about her good mood with Carmen. He does not get it. Was she just being nice? She mocks him she is not nice.
She imitates Carmen talking to Felipe. Felipe asks her why she lies. Isabel tells Felipe he is identical (not physically) to his uncle Santiago. Just like him. He asks her not to start any more problems and leaves. She comment on how kids are so difficult.

Conchita is telling Granpappy mot to waste her time as he laments how unromantic she is. He scratches both of their names in one of the nopal paddles she is "de-needling"( I think this word is my own creation) and the flirting goes on with Conchita wondering if Granpappy is her "last train" (last chance to get married. )

María and Facundo are at home on the living room talking about the dance contest and end up dancing themselves. Looked like the twist.

Beto is in the office. Rocío walks in and he jumps up,amd puts on his hat. Rocío is not as happy as she was the last time he saw her. He wnts to know if something bad happened to her. She says no. Sh asks him if he shouldn't actually be doing something rather than just playing with his hat. When Felipe is not there, Beto says he doesn't know what to do. He should do something like work. He asks her not to scold him and wants to know what happened between her and his mother. did his mother scold her a lot. No, yes , she was a lottle annoyed but not much. It was not s pleasant thing for his mother to see them like that and to think things happened that never did. Rocío can understand. Rocío has been thinking and the truth is she isn't one to be hiding, apologizing for the stupid things her aunt and uncle do. She is tired, worn out, fed up. Beto wants to know if she wants to break up with him. No she doesn't . She loves him but she needs a little time. Beto immediately wants to pin her down. She is vague. She just needs time.to think about things. He does not know what kind of relationships she is used to but either she is with him or not. It is not a "time" thing. Love is all you need not time. She asks him to put himself in her place. They are going to take a very big step. They are going to get married. Their families are going to be together their whole lives and they don't get along. She is not sure if they are making a mistake. She only wants to be sure.so they will be together forever. She accuses him of shouting and tells him they will talk when he calms down. Beto is not happy. Rocío leaves and Hilda comes kn on her heels.

Part 4

Beto is not happy to see Hilda at first but, hey, Hilda is there with a nice lunch she has prepared with all of Beto's favorite foods. He tells her one more time he is in love with Rocío. Hilda tells him Rocío is not for him. She knows they were fighting and does not give up hope. Before you know it , Beto is smiling and eating her lard gorditas with chicharrón. In the meantime, Hilda is thinking whether it be Beto or Felipe she is not going to end up an old maid.

Granpappy is out talking to the chickens in the coop. He is then talking to himself saying it is one of those sort of sad days filed with the past, memories and pain. Very soon what he has been keeping in his heart could be known. Conchita comes out throwing the chicken feed. He wants to know why she is in such a rush. He starts to joke and she tells him to put his clowining around and craziness aside. She tells him that a person of his age talking to himself is scary because it seems that he is talking with death. Not the case says Granpappy. It will be many years before he hangs up his sneakers. She asks what he is remembering. A man like him has a long past with a lot of ghosts. She tells him he is a very good man with no good reason for ghosts. Well, he has them and on days like today they really torment him. She doesn't get it. He reminds her that he has always had an "ojo alegre" and has been a big flirt. Conchita says that is all b.s.. He agrees.

Facundo is in his office when Santiago arrives all chipper thinking that Facundo will sell him his shares. Unfortunately for him, Facundo gave some thought to what Esteban proposed and has a proposal for Santiago. Facundo has a plan that will work for both of them: he will buy all of Santiago's shares, end up with everything there will be peace. Santiago refuses.

Franklin is on the phone bringing his employer up to date on his Porfirio investigation. He tells her about the Amarripa brothers in San Bartolo el Chico. She tells him to watch his wallet around those guys. She remembers them well. She just wants him to find Porfirio Carmona. They will be in contact.

A very melancholy Granpappy is still talking to Conchita about his wife who was the only woman he ever loved in his whole life. She asks the one who died?. He answer yes, the same. He has always lived with the hope of finding her again, being with her again. In the great beyond or when God takes you, too? asks Conchita. Wherever. His goal is to be with her because his wife was everything for him. The only woman he ever really loved. And today he is missing her more than anything in the world. Conchita looks at him with kindness and understanding..

Granpappy Porfirio and his melancholy made the show for me.

I am sure I will have more to say mañana.

Another life-saving recap, Jarifa! I will have to catch up with watching this weekend, but having your details under my belt makes me feel like I can follow the comments better.

I only managed to catch the scene with Diego and Carmen and I still just want them together. Diego is an absolute charmer. I wish they had done a better job with the Feli character.

I know she's passed away, but I feel sorry for Florencio's wife. I hope she never realized that her husband only loved Maria!

Jarifa- You managed to make an episode that felt all over the place seem coherent. Well done!

I thought it was refreshing to see the male half of the couple in a tn be the one wanting to wait till marriage to make love. It was very sweet how Beto and Rocio spent the night together.

But then I was so confused when Rocio was back to being so confused the next day. What happened? It's not like she's just realizing how serious this relationship is for him and that he considers her end game. It doesn't seem like he's been pressuring her to get married next week/month like he did the last time. Someone explain it to me.

I do agree with her that Beto needs to take more initiative at work, and shouldn't be waiting around for Fac or Feli to give him orders.

Maria and Fac were adorable in bed. When she ran her hand up his back, and gave him that smile, it was obvious there would be nookie.

But I really loved seeing how adorable Carmen and Diego were when he brought her home, which was why I was disappointed to later see her giving moon eyes to Feli when she asked him if he's interested in Hilda.

Sara, glad the recap was helpful.

Vivi, the whole Rocío sudden change of heart had me asking what I had missed but there wasn't anything. I could understand it if María and Facundo's reaction had been more unpleasant but it wasn't. Nothing negative happened. It was her idea to set up a love nest at the shop knowing what the risks might be. It will be interesting seeing how this evolves.

Jarifa

Whew! So glad I'm not the only one confused!

I wonder if the mystery woman looking for Porfirio is Mrs. Porfirio or an old flame that Porfirio entertained in younger "ojo alegre" days maybe when Mrs. Porfirio was still alive?

It seems that Felipe now fully realizes that he has lost Carmen to Diego when he was indulging Francis and making excuses for her.

Loved the déjàs vu comment. Same old same old maneuverings at the company except for Florencio.

The funniest part was Jacinto (coming into his own) telling Beto that this was the last time he was covering for him at night but then quickly lying at the breakfast table to protect him.

Beto is really a chip off of the old block--making him Facundo's blockheaded offspring: he actually talks to and eats a lunch especially prepared for him by HILDA??? the woman who poisoned the love of his life??? Unbelievable.

Interesting seeing Hilda willing to be practical: she could marry either Felipe or Beto. Very similar to Estefany on this topic: bag a husband that can support her.

As I said before, Porfirio stole the show. Excellent writing and acting.

Great recap!

Agree with all that Porfirio's story was excellent last night. Also agree it was nice that it was Beto putting on the brakes.

Agree that Rocio's turn makes it feel like we missed a scene. But it also made me worry about Rocio. Isa had that big deal about Rocio turning 19 and getting her in an insane asylum. Could it be that Rocio's mom suffered from schizophrenia or a mental illness and Isa thinks Rocio will inherit? Are we seeing little signs? It seems too late in the story for something like this to come out but I'm still trying to figure out those dropped plot points.

Jarifa, a few additional comments after reading the rest of your fantastic recap.

"His goal is to be with her because his wife was everything for him. The only woman he ever really loved. And today he is missing her more than anything in the world. Conchita looks at him with kindness and understanding.." was beautifully phrased.

"Perpétua tells Facundo not to smother María because he comes across as if he does not trust her". Finally, some sound advice.

Very interesting comments from our younger galans. Beto's "Diego knew how to win her heart" was unexpected and made me reflect. There was some truth in that insight. I keep forgetting Diego was a player. I do believe he's changed but there has been some skilled thought put into his pursuit of Carmen.

Carmen needs to decide if she wants a calm life with dependable Feli or a more lively life with the charming Diego. I'm still on the fence - I felt Feli took too much time getting rid of Francis and admitting his true feelings. I like Diego and I think Carmen is surprised how much she cares about him too. But does she really love him? I'm still convinced deep down Carmen does love Feli - as evidenced by Vivi's "I was disappointed to later see her giving moon eyes to Feli when she asked him if he's interested in Hilda". Feel there is more for this love triangle.

"He does not know what kind of relationships she is used to but either she is with him or not. It is not a "time" thing". Beto and Rocio are very far apart in many things. She wants time to reflect, he doesn't. Vivi, I believe she is rethinking everything simply because he did not want to make love. To her, it's natural, to him, it is everything, sanctioned only by marriage. Two diverse viewpoints that are apparently giving her pause. And Jarifa, I was livid he was eating with Hilda. What was he thinking? Clearly, he wasn't.

"...Hilda is thinking whether it be Beto or Felipe she is not going to end up an old maid". Again, I wish her on no one...Ack.

Sara, I also hope Florencio's wife had no idea how much Maria was in his heart. How that would have made her suffer.

Diana

Carvivlie, it did feel like a scene was missing. If María or Isabel had really lit into her one more time or even Facundo, I could have understood it, but this? She also was sort of nasty prefacing what she knew was going to be a difficult announcement by criticizing his work ethic.

Diana, Carmen does have a big decision to make as you so well put. Felipe sure does have feelings for her as he got so jumpy and embarrassed after holding her hands and then her announcing she was just there as a friend. That was a weird visit, too, for just a friend. She went over to ask him if he were going out with Hilda but didn't try to warn him about her? So, either Carmen is s super metiche like Granny or still has feelings for him.

Jarifa

Thanks Jarifa for the always awesome recap.

If Feli is the end game, the writers fell down on the job. Not enough interaction between him and Carmen to move their story along.

Sara (and anyone else who has suffered a pet loss) this site's chat room helped me tremendously when Neo died. You might already be aware of it. Pet Loss

Nanette: The empathy from this blog is real and healing, for both human and pet loss. The link you provided did not work for me unfortunately. Thank you for doing that though.

It didn't occur to me that Feli doesn't know the "real" Hilda, Jarifa. I can't remember if he was around to see any of her destructive acts. I'm smiling though - can you just see Isa accepting Hilda as Feli's novia? Nopis. Now, that would be fun. But I do hope it doesn't get that far.

Diana

Diana: agree about this blog. No matter what any one of us is going through, the support here is phenomenal.

Jarifa – Thanks. Like Diana, I found your opening sentence stunning. An excellent setup of all Porfirio is feeling.

I know the nerfazos are coming, but I think Carmen and Feli are endgame. She’s never looked at Diego the way she looks at Feli and hasn’t kissed Diego like she kissed Feli at that masquerade party way back when. I just hope Isa can teach him to dance.

Beto’s sense of smell and taste took over when those gorditas with chicharrón showed up. Hilda is no fool.

Nice to see Maria initiating sex with Facundo. He was dejected the other day when Carmen was showering her pop with compliments but Maria seemed distracted.

I’m not getting Rocio either, but I guess she’s just scared and lashing out at the person closest to her. Beto refusing to sleeping with her threw her. Though it's not the first time Beto turned her down.

Niecie, the "poetic" part of the first line is just what Porfirio said himself. They have really developed his character so well. He is my favorite character.

I don't mind Carmen ending up with Feliipe. Felipe has character. He may not look exciting but we know that he is dependable and in spite of being raised in a goofy household he is a good man and up to meeting the challenges of life. Funny how everyone notices how Carmen says "Feli". I will be surprised if she ends up with Diego, but who knows?

I didn't think about Beto not wanting to have sex (as a couple of you mentioned) as to why Rocío might have had her sudden need to reevaluate it all. Interesting.

Jarifa

If Feli is the end game, which I don't mind at all--I like both the guys equally, then I'd like to see more interaction between Carmen and him. A short scene here and there isn't enough for me. I want to be "reminded" why he is the best choice for her.

I think Rocio wants to have a long engagement with benefits, but Beto's refusal to sleep with her is making her a little panicked. If they get too frustrated, she might feel like she has to cave and marry before she's really ready or lose him.

Ditto what Sara said about Feli.

Sorry, I mean what Nanette said.

We have just seen Carmen interacting more with Diego for a long time now. Show me some Feli so that I can buy it.

They better get going then, since we are in últimas semanas, if that is the direction they decide to go in. : )

Jarifa

I finally got to see the dance rehearsal from Wednesday. Diego is just cute as a button AND has the moves. Carmen is a fool.

Sara- I know, right! And then at the end of that scene the camera panned over to Feli at the far end of the stage, and I don't even think he was moving his feet. Such a major turn off for me. I know it's not his fault if he can't dance, or move, or has rhythm, or is uninhibited. Just saying personally, of I saw those two guys on the dance floor (regardless of looks), Diego is the one I'd be gravitating towards.
