The fetus is not mine! La Sombra Del Pasado 08/12/15 #126 (Mx 129)

Oh.my.sweet.baby.jesus.

Tonight's show picks up where we left off last night: Candela is ready for war, she wants payback for the abuse she suffered at the hand (that never gets old) of Severiano so she walks into his bedroom as he slumbers and points a gun at his head. Severiano wakes up and asks what she's doing, her reply? "Getting payback for what you did to me last night"- he begs her to put the gun down, she refuses and tells him she's going to kill him like the dog that he is, and then it happens. The gun goes off, missing Severiano's head by mere inches, instead a poor feather pillow meets his/her maker. RIP little pillow, RIP.

I'm fairly certain that Sev saw his life flash before his very eyes, hell, he even has one solitary tear rolling down his cheek, "do you really think I'm stupid enough to end up in jail over you?" asks a very calm Cande, while still pointing the gun at him. The gun shot  draws Cristobal into Sev's bedroom, he looks at his mother holding the gun and asks her what's going on, "I'm just saying goodbye to your father Cristobal, because he no longer lives here", Cristobal asks her to give him the gun but Candela refuses, she won't put down the gun until Sev is out, and if he does not leave soon he's dead meat.

Cris tells Sev that it's better if he leaves, and Sev says he needs to get a few things but Candela refuses, she says he's leaving Las Animas with whatever he has on and nothing more. This just gets more delicious, you guys. Cande, still holding firm to the gun starts walking Sev out of Las Animas, a little crowd consisting of Mel, Dominga, Lola and Cris gathers behind her, Sev is arguing, saying that she can't do this, she'll pay in a court of law for pointing a gun at him: none of his arguments work, Candela tells him that she'll face the consequences of her actions in due time but right now he needs to get out.

Sev wants his things and Cande says she'll have them sent to him, not happy with how long it's taking Sev to make his exit she fires off another shot that goes right over his shoulder. Sev gives up and starts his long walk of shame out of Las Animas, it was Awesome. He didn't even have shoes on, or slippers, he had to walk into town in his pjs, or maybe he took an Uber.

Once he is gone Cande issues orders. Sev is not allowed on the property, he is no longer the boss, he is no one, Cris is replacing him and that's that. Cris asks everyone who witnessed the scene to say nothing to anyone about what they saw. Dude, if I saw something like that going down I'd tape it with my phone and put it on youtube. All the workers are asked to go back to their jobs.

Once back inside the house Cande gives the gun to Cris, who wants to know why she reacted so violently towards Sev. Candela tells him she is not going to discuss her relationship with Sev, and that she just got fed up of living with the monster. Cris tells her that Padre J is leaving and that he was attacked by Sev the night before. Cande asks for him to drive her to see Padre J before he leaves town and Cris agrees, because they are going into town he suggests taking some of Sev's things to him and Cande agrees, but she only wants Cris to basic stuff to Sev.

Valeria and Prudencia, the ship is sinking:

The two women are having breakfast, Pru is starting her day with a healthy meal consisting of vodka in orange juice and a few pills, she claims her doctor told her this would help calm her nerves and that everyone in Europe is doing it. Val and Pru argue, Val says Pru has a problem with the pills and her drinking and Pru says that Val is more and more bitter every day, "I have no reason to be happy" says Val and she reminds Pru that it was her fault that the Babylardo secret got out. "You were the one who screwed around with Abelardo for fun, don't blame me for that!", this is more than enough for Val who leaves the house to go "fix" her problems on her own.

Val opens the door to leave and bumps into Renato who is there to deliver the divorce petition on behalf of Humberto, this sends Pru to a very dark place as she seems to spend the rest of her day in her room drinking and calling Tomas non-stop, Tomas for his part ignores her calls.

Val shows up at Las Animas and finds out that Sev no longer lives there, and no one knows where he is, but worry not, the little strumpet eventually finds out where Sev is staying.

While Val is looking for him Sev meets with Nava who rattles off a long list of legal actions they can take against Candela, Sev demands that Nava find a way to get him back into Las Animas, he also wants the divorce petition to list the reason for divorce as infidelity on Candela's part- with the town priest!

At some point Nava leaves and Val arrives, she tries to get Sev to help her but that ship has sailed, when she says that he *must* help her he makes it clear that he doesn't have to do anything, and now more than ever he can't support her in her scheme to pass of Babylardo as Cristobal's kid. Val, is pushed into a corner and tells Sev that if he does not help her she will accuse him of rape, she's even willing to put herself though all the medical tests.

This was a bad idea. Sev grabs her by the neck and pulls her into the house, he tells her that no one will believe her, that she's a slut and that the proof is the fact that she's having Lardo's baby and that she slept with him (Sev). He then tells her that the only way she can make her situation better is to have an abortion, then he tells her to leave before he kicks the baby out of her.

Val leaves and goes to her doctor, she wants an abortion but the doctor can't and wont help her, he tells her she is too far along and an abortion would put her life at risk. Val does not care and says she will find someone else to help her.

When she gets home Juana comes in and tells her that she's worried about Pru, her drinking and pill addiction are out of hand, she tells Val that Pru needs professional help. Val says it's her parents job to help her not the other way around and that her parents are to blame for everything that's wrong in her life. Man this girl is cold, she then dismisses poor Juana who was only trying to help.

Lola is on the hunt:

Lola searches for Arnoldo on a website that looks a lot like Facebook, she gets help from a friend to send PM's to the more than 100 Arnoldo's on the site, later she also tells Dominga that she and Pato have broken up and that she's really sad because she cared a lot about him, Dominga says that caring about someone and loving them is not the same thing, then she comforts Lola. Did I tell you guys that I love Dominga?

The Lagos family:

Uriel gets bad news, Adriano has passed away and was never able to confirm if Sev was responsible for the death of Abelardo, upset over the development the Oso goes home and breaks the news to Mari and Irma. Once he calms down he and Mari start to chat about who could have paid the loan shark, eventually it dawns on both of them that Lola could have been the one that saved the shop.

Silvia and Tomas:

Silvia meets up with Tomas and breaks up with him, she thanks him for helping her find peace and for touching a part of her heart that no one ever had, they embrace and I'm a sad panda because I really liked these two together. Sigh.

Eman and Aldi:

The two sibilings spend some time together, he tells her to stop being so cold towards Cris, her indifference really hurts him and the poor guy is dealing with a lot. They are at the church when Cande shows up to visit Jeronimo and they find out through Cris that Cande kicked Sev out of Las Animas at gun point, this makes E-man so happy that he wants to get some tequila in order to celebrate.

The two continue their day together hanging out at home and talking about their future plans for the land. Joaquin it seems has done a great job with the crops and E-man says that eventually they will breed horses and that they will compete with other horse breeders in the area. Aldi tells him it's time to make their dreams come true, but she is sad that her aunt will never get to see the lands flourish.

Cande and Jeronimo:

She is distraught about him leaving town and upset that her pig of a husband attacked him. It is clear, finally, that what happened between them was just a crush that meant a lot more to her than it did to him, he has always had affection for her but nothing more. Candela asks him to stop and wants a final hug before he leaves, the two hug and I kinda feel a little bit sad for Candy.

While Candela is with Jeronimo Cris brings Sev his things and questions him about the events of that morning, what did he do to Candela to have her react the way she did? Did he hit her again? Sev denies hitting her and swears nothing happened. Cris does not buy it and Sev calls him and Cande ungrateful bastards, Cris is all like "whatever dad, don't count on me for anything".

Cande and Cris come home and he gets a phone call from someone whom he agrees to meet with later, Cande wants to know who called but Cris wont give her any information, he just tells her he is going into town and will be home late.

Finally, we all learn who the super secret caller was: Valeria's doctor (is there no Hippa in Mexico?) he called because he was worried about Val, she wants to have an abortion but she's 12 weeks along, and having an abortion could cost her her life.

Cris is all like ummm, no, she can't be that far along, and the doctor is all like"yeah dude  she's 12 weeks along, that is what the lab results point to" finally Cris gets it: the baby is not his!

A big thanks to Diva who picked up my slack on Monday!

Dude. Duuuuuuuuude! Eli! Thank you! Your recap made the episode even funnier.

"Sev gives up and starts his long walk of shame out of Las Animas, it was Awesome." It so was. I had to watch it twice. Is it just me or is Cande good with a gun? It looked like she didn't *have* to miss him if she didn't want to.

I'm baffled by the conversation between Sev and Nava. Sev sounds like he's asking for the impossible. I would think that they're going to need some proof of an affair, if that's how he plans to take Cande for everything she's got. And how stupid is that when he has living, breathing, walking, ripped-ab-having proof of his own infidelity?

I don't think there's any privacy in Telenovelandia for anything--medical, legal, or otherwise. I'm glad Cris found out it's not his baby, but what a cheat not to have him find out using his own brain cells! Well, um...at least now we know that he knows how to count?

Thank you again, Eli, this had me rolling from the title and I'm going to enjoy it all over again with my morning coffee :D (You're totally welcome for Monday, I'm so glad you got this one instead!)

Absolutely stellar Eli! RIP little pillow, RIP. smh...Pillow never did anything to them...

SO GREAT!!! I gotta say I was way impressed that Cande handled Sev that way. I was disappointed (but not surprised) that we got the standard no rape kit, no report last night, but kicking him off her property at gunpoint was fantastic! Still sad she didn't report it though because he's suiing her after raping her is just so very, very wrong.

I liked Eman's convo with Aldie about Cris. He knows Cris better than she does.

Sleep calls, see y'all tomorrow!

Diva - yes, I wondered about his infidelity charges too, since everyone in SL knows about Eman now. He could say she knew about that or whatever, but isn'the concerned about, I don't know, kidnapping charges maybe?

Eli, spectacular recap.

"Sev gives up and starts his long walk of shame out of Las Animas, it was Awesome. He didn't even have shoes on, or slippers, he had to walk into town in his pjs, or maybe he took an Uber" was fabulous. Evidenced by "she wants payback for the abuse she suffered at the hand (that never gets old) of Severiano", you were on fire...

Just when I think Sev has hit rock bottom, the earth opens and he descends another foot into hell: "He then tells her that the only way she can make her situation better is to have an abortion, then he tells her to leave before he kicks the baby out of her". The devil incarnate.

Seeing Sev forced to leave without possessions, stripped of all ownership and privileges, clad in only his pajamas was fitting justice. Having an audience to his expulsion added another savory dimension. It was right and fitting that Cande, his duplicitous partner in crime be the one turning him out from his home where he lost any pride and all dignity. Well done...

I believe Renato is ruing the day he let Sylvia go. It appears he will get another opportunity. Not quite sure if Tomas is priestly material but I wish him the best.

Although Valeria's doctor's disregard for privileged information was wrong on so many levels (as you noted "is there no Hippa in Mexico?"),at least Cris now knows the truth.

The sad truth is that if this revelation could solve all of Cris and Aldonza's problems, things would be wrapping up nicely. However, the pregnancy was but one truth. There are other sordid details and secrets that need to be revealed in order for the couple to come together in any sort of realistic fashion. With so few episodes left, I don't see how that will be accomplished.

How can the good Padre leave with the fate and future of his beloved Aldonza hanging in the balance?

Diana

HellaShelle, I know! Sev is talking so much nonsense! Is he high? Maybe he's high? Maybe he saw some mushrooms in the woods on that long walk into town and thought "Hey! Breakfast!"

And I think the whole town no longer respects him. Incompetente was even agreeing with Uriel about how Sev's going to get away with something...again.

Thank you Diva and Hellashelle!

Diva, I saw that scene like four times and laughed so hard, especially at the little crowd that gathered behind Candela, it was wonderful to have people see how far sev had fallen and how all along Cande was the one with the deep pockets.

Yay for Cris, he knows how to count, now he can move on to wearing big boy pants!

"I don't think there's any privacy in Telenovelandia for anything--medical, legal, or otherwise. I'm glad Cris found out it's not his baby, but what a cheat not to have him find out using his own brain cells! Well, um...at least now we know that he knows how to count?

Great comment Kat! Yes, there doesn't seem to be any information that stays confidential for long! As you noted, at least Cris now knows there is absolutely no way he is the father's child.

Diana

"However, the pregnancy was but one truth." True, Diana! And once he tells her, thinking this is finally going to convince her they should be together, she's going to have to say *something* and I don't think "Wellll, you parents still hate me." is gonna do it.

Eli, was it just me...or were they smiling? I swear, Mel had the biggest grin on his face!

Diana, I think Padre J is the only person in town who can keep his mouth shut!

Diva, I'm 100% that El Mudo had a big grin on his face, but I think Mel only had a small smile and Dominga looked uber worried

Eli- So glad you got this episode. Your glee was palpable.

And it was indeed a thing of joy to watch disheveled, shoeless Sever shuffle out of LA in his jammies. Even better that all the LA staff was watching. Loved Mudo joyously tell Val that Sev no longer lived there. So great!

How ironic that the one woman he hasn't raped is threatening to accuse him of rap. But Val should really just leave him alone if she doesn't want to get killed. By the way, I believe Val is 14 weeks pregnant. Yay for indiscrete doctors!

Well, so far the anvils are hitting all our villains and they've warning h had some really low moments. Can't wait to see how much further they sink in the next week.

With only a week to go, I don't think any of Sev's plans for divorcing and fleecing Cande are going to see the light of day.

Wow. Don't know what I typed. And they've each had some really low moments.

Vivi, I'm glad they didn't go that route, but I swear I saw some panic in him...as if he was thinking that Val telling a lie was going to give all the women he really has raped the confidence to come forward.

It felt like a parallel to the time she shot Aldonza and everyone was suspicious of Sev, when that was the ONE time he had nothing to do with it.

So true, Kat. Bet he's regretting ever aligning himself with Val.

Eli, Dominga's probably worried about retaliation. I don't think she's going to relax for quite a while.

Vivi, and she seems to have conveniently forgotten that she provided him with an alibi for the night of Adelina's death. I wish she'd remember that...soon...and go take it back!

The other part of Dominga's advice to Lola that I liked was when Lola says she'll end up alone, and Dom says so what if she does. Better alone than in bad company. And Silvia also seems to be planning on striking out on her own.

"And it was indeed a thing of joy to watch disheveled, shoeless Sever shuffle out of LA in his jammies. Even better that all the LA staff was watching".

Vivi, I totally agree. I can't wait to see his downward spiral continue.

Diana

Vivi, that's one of my favorite dichos. And I too love that Silvia is going to spend some time with her own awesome self...though I'm sad for the Silvia-Tomas breakup. We sure are getting some good breakups lately!

It's one of my favorite dichos too, and I wish it was said/thought more in English. A single gal like me too often hears "don't worry, you'll find someone." First, I'm not worried. Second, how do you know? It's always better to focus on being happy, no matter what your relationship status.

Mr. 5ft and I were watching a crime drama earlier tonight where part of the plot was an online virtual boyfriend service. I started cracking up and he tells me it really exists, so I looked it up...Invisible Boyfriend! Because people have a serious need to get well-meaning friends and relatives to just shut up about why they're still single. Who knew?! I married Mr. 5ft young, so that was never really something that I had to deal with, but if it's anything like the constant questioning we got for a long time about "When are you going to have kids?" and "You don't know what you're missing!" then I feel your pain. You rock on with your awesome self :D

ELI--thank you! Loved the gleeful tone of your recap, great fun to read!

Only thing that could have made the scene of Sev's departure any better would have been if his pajamas had had big dots on them.

Also getting a kick out of Lola and her Letter to the Long Lost Lovelorn, wonder how many responses she will get?

Dead-Men-Walking list (besides Sev): Hum, Don Antonio...anyone else?\

J in Oregon

as always, a big thank you for the recap!!

i am disappointed silvia/tomas are not going to ba a couple. i liked these two together, too!

i kept hearing "camino" in this episode...ido yall think that was a possible theme to this episode? padre j said it with aldonza (i think) and candela and i heard silvia use it with tomas. i am asking because my spanish is still in the baby stages :)

and, good for candela! making that man look small in front of his employees probably hurt sev more than any bullet. though, i kinda was hoping the bullet would win out.

i would have youtubed it, too, then facebooked it, blogged it, vined it, instagrammed it....

thank you again for the recap,

Thank you so much, Eli! I did not get to watch last night, but your recap was just spectacular. Loved your description of Pru's breakfast.

Great stuff, Eli! Congratulations on getting this episode.

The walk of shame begins. Today Las Animas, tomorrow Santa Lucia. Next week, the world. Sev's Karmageddon won't come until everyone knows what he really is. That was truly delicious.

I guess we're being set up for Vile to die during an abortion or for it to be prevented by somebody. And I wonder how well-known this is known in Mexico.

Recommendation: Vile gets prevented from having the abortion by the gyn who tipped off Cristobal. Mari spills about BabyLardo, and Sev spills about Vile taking his rifle and shooting Aldonza. BabyLardo is born in a women's prison and given to Irma and Uriel.

More later.

RIP little Pillow...I swear, Eli, that is going to make me smile all day! Great recap!

So Cande listened to the patio...well, not really, but fun to think someone did. Loved the whole "walk of shame" and everyone just letting it happen. Now, that said, did I want to slap her silly when she pulled the "Mother needs to know all your movements" with Cris after the call last night. Good lord woman, give it a rest. We're trying to feel bad for you.

Disappointed with the Silvia/Tomas break up, but realistically though they were sweet together, long term in reality not sure how they could work. And of course, we know this leads to her with Ren. I would prefer they leave that vague and let them possibly be working their way back to each other instead of some big undying "I really loved you all along" by him.

I agree Sev was just sinking more into his LaLaLand thinking he could go after Cande. He may have some vested interest in the business side or the ownership of horses, but the property is hers and no "affair" is going to give him that. To me that was a knee jerk in realizing he is losing everything, so in his increasing insanity he thinks he can get it all back by whatever means necessary. And since Nava's paycheck relies on him, he'll go along with anything.

So do we get Val dying in an abortion attempt or Cris promise to help her anyway and then the baby can go to Irma/Uriel?

Nice to know Joaquin has been working his butt off while all the crap was hitting the fan and his own life was a mess. That man so needs a happy ending and Flavia is not it!!

Daisynjay

Morning everyone!

The girl is Mine - camino means path, and with Silvia striking out on her own path, Aldonza and Eman finally able to really take the paths they want, Candela also choosing to walk a new path alone and Sev literally walking a path to destruction, maybe it was a theme of sorts.

I'm thinking Mari somehow gets wind of Val's plan, confesses her "suspicions" to her parents and between Cris, Hum, Uriel and Irma they somehow convince her to have the child? Either that, or she has the abortion and becomes barren (an old TN standard that always makes me a little sick).

UA - I imagine it will be more of a scene in which Ren says he was an idiot who didn't know how to value her and asks for another chance and she says "eh, sure, why not" but makes it clear that said realtionship won't make or break her.

Is it weird that the people who've had the most growth on this show have been 1) Tomas 2) Hum and 3) maybe Candela?! Actually, it's been actual growth for Tomas, it's been more like introspection for Hum and desperation for Candela.

Speaking of which, I guess PJ had no problem figuring out his and Cande's relationship. On the patio, we've been going back and forth wondering what the heck with it, and he's just like "We had kind of a thing and it was nice and might have turned into The Thing. But I fell in love with God. And you found solace for your sadness by wrapping yourself in these memories until they became much grander than they really were." Sounds so simple when he says it.

Yeah, there's been no justice for Joaquin.

Hi, Eli. Gee, you did this proud with your constant insights and asides. You had me smiling all the way through it.

I wonder if the fact that Val had identified Cris as the father of her baby mitigated the HIPPA laws.

I savored every second of Sev's expulsion from his marital home and his walk of shame into town. I love the fact that he owns NOTHING and his staying there is at Cande's whim.

Nava's ideas about how Sev could get back at Cande sounded like a lot of puff to me. I don't think the guy is a particularly good lawyer by any stretch, and now his lack of expertise is going to undermine Sev's plans. Pretty soon Sev is going to need a really good lawyer, and Nava isn't going to fill the bill.

Although Cande walked past Eman and Aldonza with her nose in the air, I thought she was considerably less antagonistic toward them than she had been before. Maybe her snooty ass is beginning to come around.

Well, my hope for public humiliation got a big leg up last night, but I hope that all the people who have done bad things are totally exposed to everyone.

Another night without any talk about the pregnant woman in the coffin table.

Thanks again, Eli. I really liked this.

David

Eli - I've only had time to read the first few paragraphs and already, I can tell this will be a fun recap. You had me with, "RIP little pillow, RIP." BwaHahahahahhaaaaa!!!

I'm on nieta babysitting duty today, so will catch up later during her naptime. She is almost two years old, so no rest for the weary --- or AARP crowd --- until then. Wheeeee!

All I can say is that it's too bad Sev doesn't sleep in his undies, or in the buff. THAT would have been more entertaining when Cande ran him off the ranch.

I loved El Mudo's end zone dance (of sorts) with his hands, in the stand, during that whole scene.

And 'that baby is not mine' are the first intelligent words from our Cara de Bobo Anti-galán.

Ooops, estoy mal educado! Le olvidé decir GRACIAS ELI for the recap!!!

Eli! Thank you, Girl! Oh. What. Fun it was to see Sev run out of Las Animas, stripped and humiliated. All in all, the episode was gratifying and you made it more satisfying, Teamie!

Vile and Putrid's meltdown is also a wonder to behold. You are so right, Eli, Vile IS cold. She even said if Pru wants to kill herself with booze and pills, let her go ahead! Yikes! So now that Pru doesn't have to blab about babylardo, what other havoc will she wreak with her mouth. . .well, I guess downing pills and booze! I can't wait to see Cande's reaction when she finds out Vile has been playing her -- BIG TIME. Cande was really pleased when she saw the ultra sound report. How will Irma and Uriel find out? Will they have Vile, and thus the baby, die in a failed/botched abortion?

Speaking of the Lagos, unfortunately for those of us who don't want to see Mari redeemed without speaking her sins, is Mari now going to go to Lola and try to thank her or will she try to pay Lola back? We don't know how much the interest was or how much moola Mari had in the bank. Why did they let Mari be a part of the realization instead of Irma and Uriel? I don't know. Mari is sure getting a lot of face time and this smells like it's eventually going to turn out as a big browinie point for Mari!

I'm sorry, I've forgotten who said that Vile should take back the alibi she offered for Sev for the night of Adelina's murder but YES! That would be great! They're stringing us along with this. And I'm not aware that anyone told Aldonza that her death appeared to be a suicide. Did they? Or did they decide that since they couldn't link it to Sev nor had any other suspect they would just let her think it was suicide? Did they even tell Padre?

And, as some of you asked, what is going on with the coffin table investigation? Eman was sworn not to tell Aldonza about it but not Lola. There's no reason for him to bring it up with Lola and why would he slip? One doesn't just mention bloated corpses found in trunks that washed up on river banks casually. Well. It's got to happen soon.

I'm disappointed that PJ has flipped on his refusing to leave SL after what he learned about the rape. Yes, yes, I understand, the commitment to the Church is strong, etc. With Sev royally pissed at being kicked out on his arse and Javier hanging around watching Aldonza, I feel a set up for a repeated attempted rape and perhaps murder attempt on Aldonza. One of the BOD SQUAD which now includes Big little Brother, will stop it and it would be a great opportunity to kill Sev, but that would be too easy.

Well. Exciting episodes, great recaps and comments on tap for the next eight days! Thank you, Eli!

It would be more true to character if Mari tried to say that Lola paid Irma's debt because she (Lola) stole all that money from Irma.

Thank you Eli this was fun a lot better than having to do that Lo Imperdonable crap, betcha.

"he had to walk into town in his pjs, or maybe he took an Uber"

Hey Vivi, I thought the same about the irony, Val the one not raped threatened him with exposure.

Don't know, though I've rooted for Cris the whole time despite complaining about him, what does he think he's accomplishing by demanding Severiano tell him the truth about anything over and over and over. When I see him he's some tiny yapper dog barking at a jogger from inside a fence.

Pru doesn't deserve an end devoid of more suffering. She's heavily self sedated and could just slip away quietly without ever knowing she did a thing wrong.

I wanted Cande to bare her soul to PJ.

You can concoct all kinds of crap that has no foot in reality in a petition for divorce and used as leverage in negotiation. I think Severiano expects Cande to back off with an accusation of infidelity with PJ. He thinks it would never go to court and he may be right.

" When I see him he's some tiny yapper dog barking at a jogger from inside a fence."
THIS. This is sidebar-worthy.

Nieta not here yet but due any minute . . . so more comment-bombing from yours truly here....

Silvia has had a big personal growth, too. She heeded PadJer's counsel to forget men, be by herself and enjoy life. She did, had a wonderful friendship with Tomas, and has grown quietly but a lot. She has learned that happiness is an inside job.

I really liked that break-up-of-sorts scene between Silvia and Tomas. Well written and well acted.

I too Really enjoyed that breakup scene. It was cute when Sil wished for him to find the right woman for him, and he asked "only one?" And Sil laughed and wished him ALL the women he wants.

Think I was hallucinating last night when I thought 14 weeks. Must have gotten than into my head somehow because the doc said she's more than 12 weeks preggers. In any case, that gives us some idea of how much time has passed since Val and Lardo last did the backseat mambo.

*Darn it! That her death appeared to be a HOMICIDE

It would be more true to character if Mari tried to say that Lola paid Irma's debt because she (Lola) stole all that money from Irma.

You're right, Doris, but I smell them trying to redeem her so I don't think she'll come off that way. She did get this weird light in her eye when she and Uriel figured out it could be Lola.

Lila- We knew what you meant. And no, they did not give Al any of the details of the autopsy that pointed to murder. Just told her they didn't have enough evidence to accuse Sever, then gave her back the note that would actually make her think Adelina killed herself, not knowing the other facts.

I would hope Mari would have enough sense of shame to feel like crap, knowing how she's treated Lola, but she still went out of her way to help Mari's family. Now, if it were Val or Pru, they wouldn't give a damn. Those two have no shame.

If Mari wants redemption all she has to do is tell Lola she lied about Emanuel. How Mari gets to that point, perhaps as she discovers what Lola selflessly did for her family.

Thanks, Vivi. Uh, isn't that, like, totally WRONG to not tell her the death was apparent homicide? UUuuuf! I so want Val to go back and retract her alibi!

Let's not forget that nobody who knew Adelina is buying the idea that she offed herself. Not even Candela believes that.

As to the lack of follow-up on the dead body in the trunk, I'm betting they are still trying to pull DNA on the foetus and/or somehow identify the body. I doubt that Simoneta had ID in her pocket at the time of the murder.

Urban- I believe she was in her nightgown and robe, so no wallet or id, or even any identifying jewelry I bet, since she was just rolling out of bed.

Maybe a ring, but I don't remember.

Where is that gypsy fortune teller that used to be a stock character in novelas of the past? "Las cartas no mientan" was a stock line in those days.

Tofie - yeah. Sigh. Mari's story is definitely heading towards big happy bow territory. They showed us the cracks yesterday when Irma asked her point blank if she had something to do with the Lola/Eman break up and she hesitated before lying again. Now that she suspects Lola's paid off most of her family's debt with money from the job she (Mari) almost cost her, plus Pato's on the line, she'll fold. And Pato will probably forgive her on account of her coming clean and the courage it takes to do that blah, blah, blah.

Sigh again.

Doris - I forgot about awesome Silvia! Thanks! She and Tomas have demonstrated the kind of character growth I can totally get behind. (I don't know why I have less of a problem with Tomas's redemption than Mari's. I guess I have issues.)

Cris has indeed been yapping without much action this whole TN, but I'm glad Sev didn't seem to plant any seeds of doubt in his mind last night. Maybe all of the evidence against him has finally salted the ground for Cris?

I loved seeing Pru finally realizing and saying to Val all of the things Hum has been trying to show her for months: that her precious baby princess is a spoiled, selfish monster with zero compassion. When she told Juana that she couldn't care less if her mom drank herself to death because her parents are supposed to be helping her, not the other way around, even I was surprised at just how open she was about not caring.

I agree Val should suffer an appropriate demise, but still think the writers will save the baby so she can hand off a grandson to Irma and Uriel, they deserve it after losing 'Lardo.

Really, really wanting the Coffin-Table's cargo to be ID'd...

J in O

Tofie, amen to that. Let her redemption be the old fashioned way: earn it with truth and sincere begging for forgiveness. And Viv, what you say is truth as well, the way that Mari can earn redemption. Can't wait to see what happens.

My terminal lucidity testimony against Sev theory died with Adriano (don't know why they didn't have him shot dead their at the bus station that day) so I've got a new theory I'm holding on to:

Javier, if not working for the police undercover, goes to squeal to the police on Sev. What would he squeal? I don't know, that he cleared a woman's things out of an apartment for Sev and . . .ok, I'm grasping at straws!

Just wondering if Lola finds out Mari lied about Emanuel will she apologize to him or decide she gets a pass cause she was tricked. I don't think she should get a pass, she's spent more time trying to solve the missing Arnoldo than contemplating the validity of Mari's story

Hellashelle- Val's outburst to Juana was just, whoa! I hope Juana finds another job soon, because she does not deserve to be stuck with Vile and Putrid. Even Hum got to escape. Why does Juana need to suffer?

Lila- Javier could not only blab about clearing out Sim's house for Sev, but remember he was also a part of the murder of Lardo and knew Adriano was working on Sever's orders. He could still be key to tying up some of these crimes and linking them to Sever.

she's spent more time trying to solve the missing Arnoldo than contemplating the validity of Mari's story

Tofie! You are SO right! She believed Mar, flipped Eman off and claimed the right to piss and moan about it for the rest of the show. SHE's the one who needs to do some heavy redeeming for me to want to see her with Eman again, if ever! She wins the prize for the character that took the biggest tumble for fun and likable to whiny and kick in the pants-worthy!

Ok, let me go do some other stuff. This is too much fun. See y'all later.

Wow, Vivi! Is that right! Thanks, girl! So Javier can get pissed at Sev who may now have his funds cut off and thus can't pay him and go and squeal to the police with ALL of what you said in exchange for immunity from prosecution! Yes!

Thanks for filling out my theory, Vivi!

Not surprised by the Val outburst because we have to be all kinds of low-life Vile to make her the evil beyotch that came between the lovebirds. But with this TN, I just don't know if they will go there with having her give into having the baby. That opens a possible scenario of Irma and Uriel taking her in and giving her a home, family and care. And not sure that's what we all want to see. Right now, I'm leaning to the abortion gone wrong.

As for Pru--I still think a great ending for her is to loose everything: her status, her fashionably clothing, her ability to look down on everyone and become the worst of the worst, a drunk in rags living on the streets or reduce to the lowest of jobs to eek out a living. Then her maid can look down on her!

I think they are holding the Simonetta reveal as the final nail in the coffin on Sev to EVERYONE. But it is interesting that if he has to be taken out, his anger and last gasp of revenge will most likely be against Allie. That sets up for who saves the day. And you know what, I don't think it will be Cris. I just can't see the writers having him kill his father.

Daisynjay

No, I don't think the writers will have Cristobal kill Sev. That is too big a leap from what happened in CME, which was a milestone of its own.

I think that Cristobal will see Sev go down. If he gets arrested Cris will disown him to his face. If he falls from the waterfall or dies in some other way, Cris will witness it. That's happened in past novelas. The town will feel bad for Cris and Aldonza when they know the whole story.

As for Pru and Vile they deserve prison. That will be just as humiliating to them as being homeless.

Eli, wonderfully fun, funny, fun recap. Hahahahahahahah, Oooooooo, hahahahsLOL!!!!!
I am so happy for Chris, giggle giggle happy!!!:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D

the first part of that laughter above is for seeing Sev get his butt handed to him. the boy got some mo butkickin comin.

I'm typing this while I'm supposed to be working but here's another comment: the Val kingdom is crumbling around her and her big mouth moma. the punches keep a coming. Val blames her parents for everything that's messed up in her life, she kinda has a point there. I mean she is an adult and she makes her own decision but before she became an adult they pretty much are the blame because her father was busy helping sev break the law and stealing people's children and any other thing that sev could get away with and her mother was I dont know pretty much probably absent doing her own thing.
and poor Eman was left to fend for himself.
lousy parents. Hum needs to confess.

Wasn't Tomas Abelardo's best friend, and didn't he accompany him on some of the crimes such as burglarizing Dr. Zapata's office. I wonder then if Tomas could link some of the crimes back to Severiano. Perhaps he even knows something about the murder of Abelardo committed by Adriano.

Nina-- wouldn't it have been fun to have one of those lineups with Cande and company, all the hacienda workers lined up both sides, and, why not, the horses and as Sev walked down the walk of shame he truly would have gotten a good swift kick in the rear by each one. Now that would have been fun to behold!

Lila, tofie, Vivi, yeah miss Stuck in High School is being suddenly painted as about to become St. Mari of SL and on her way to love ( good lord, why pick Pato???) and being an honest citizen. Blech! I do want to see heer grovel to her parents, Lola, Pato AND E-man. Anyone I left out? She needs to fess up to the lies, manipulations and antics like the money swap. I'm sure there will be long faces, but then big hugs of forgiveness because we don't have enough time for people to be rally pissed at her. Again, BLECH.

Interesting point UA, having Cris at least witness his father's take down. Honestly, if he isn't involved somehow, witnessing, being a party to trying to find him for answering to his crimes, something, than I say major fail. I know the truth will knock him for a loop as it is, but he's come up pretty well in this TN in not having had to feel the pain of his father ( few slaps) or any kind of horrors personally, while his bride that was, is to be, has had enough for a room full of people. That's a bit one sided to me in the scheme of things. He fell off a horse and had a few punches thrown with Ren and Lardo. That's it? Odd.

Daisynjay

J in O, I wish Lola had left a few details out of her Socialbook message...just to make sure when the guy shows up, he's the right one.

Urban Anthropologist, does Sev know about Val shooting at Aldonza or is it only Cande who knows that?

Daisynjay, "Nava's paycheck relies on him," so he must be feeling pretty damn confident, because I'm sure he's not getting paid unless Sev wins.

David, "I wonder if the fact that Val had identified Cris as the father of her baby mitigated the HIPPA laws." I suppose it would, if she said he could be contacted, but if's just because he's the putative father then I think that guy just saw an ethics violation flash before his eyes.

doris, have fun with the nieta :)

Lila, I think that Ren and the cops are still keeping the "it looks more like a murder, but we have no evidence to pin it on anyone," news away from Aldonza, Em, and the Padre. Which, I suppose, is good because it keeps it away from Sev, so he can't cover any tracks he might have left that they won't have the brainpower to find until five minutes before the fin.

lol, tofie...he's a little yapper dog, but he barks in the wrong direction!

I agree they must be stumped about the dead woman in the coffin table--what else can they do with no missing persons report, no id, and no DNA to compare to. But they also seem to be focusing on Adelina's murder--though, not very hard. So what they heck do they do all day?

Is Juana even getting paid at this point? Who was in charge of that? 'Cause I don't see Pru being lucid enough to even know when payday is.

Gobluefan- Abelardo never told Tomas Sever was his boss and never involved him in the more dangerous/criminal stuff. He was also never with him when he would gamble with Adriano and his crew.

Nina - Huh. True--Pru and Hum did create a monster, didn't they.

On the other hand, she doesn't live in a bubble. She reads. She watches TV. She went to school. She lived with Cris for several years and didn't take in any of his relative objectivity in looking at the world. She knows what she's doing is wrong, otherwise she would'nt have to hide it.

ITA. Both Hum and Pru contributed to what Val has become. But she's the only one responsible for her actions.

HellaShelle, she's only hiding it because the small minds in this town can't comprehend that she deserves the Mendoza money for no other reason than because she wants it. There is nothing, I repeat, nothing wrong with what she's doing. People just won't understand. (/sarcasm)

Considering she claims the baby is Cris', lives in his house, her med expenses are being paid by his family, and she even claims she marrying the man, it wasn't too much of a stretch to understand why the doc called Cris after Val came in all crazy and irrational about aborting the baby no matter what the dangers to her own life, or what the law says about it.

I'm feeling like the danger to Val's life is a plot device not based in actual medicine. Laziness again. The doctor keeps referring to how many weeks along as the source of the "danger"...but she also JUST got off bed rest to try to prevent a miscarriage and has NOT been staying calm or started doing any kind of prenatal care. The doctor couldn't have referenced that instead? That I would have believed.

Oh, wait, duh! It has to be all about how many weeks because otherwise, Cris would still be clueless. Never mind...carry on.

LOL, Kat. :)

She was rather hilarious walking in and demanding a medical procedure and then being baffled that he said he doesn't do it. Like, is that not how doctors work? You just walk in without an appointment and tell them what to do and they do it? I'm so going to try that sometime...just bust in and say "gimme an x-ray! What do you mean you don't do those here?" *flounce*

I didn't think the doc sounds off. His medical advice about bed rest was given to prevent a miscarriage/protect the baby and Val. Since she came in asking about an abortion, his concern is no longer about the baby, just Val.

Just a thought .... If DNA evidence is corrupted because Sim's body was in the water too long, there are always dental records.

Of course, but he kept repeating the number of weeks as the reason for the "danger," making it sound like any woman would be risking her life vs. explaining why Val, personally, would be. Maybe it was supposed to go without saying, but it wasn't what I got out of that scene. If it's so dangerous, then shouldn't he also be warning her that she needs to continue to chill out and not be running around town all agitated because a miscarriage would be a risk to her life as well? Though, I guess, there's not a lot he can do about that. Val just doesn't do "rest."

doris, that's true. And I would hope that Lola's testimony about seeing the trunk in the back of the truck would also help point to Sev. Plus both Cande and Cris know that he was seeing her. And the movers have got to remember. Still...is it going to be yet another "not enough evidence."

I'm really starting to wonder what they consider "evidence."

Ok, since Aldonza may find out the child is not his and her fall back reason for proceeding with the divorce, will she reconsider or create a new barrier, like I cannot remain married to you cause your daddy raped me?

A new barrier? That was always THE barrier, Tofie. You mean finally telling Cris the real reason she can't be married to him.

Thank you Vivi much better stated. I needed you on a conference call earlier

Thanks Ms. Eli...so many great lines in this one...

"or maybe he took an Uber."

"Pru is starting her day with a healthy meal consisting of vodka in orange juice and a few pills." This actress is so dear to my heart, and still so beautiful-looking that I can't quite loathe her. But I've enjoyed..and still enjoy how she's played her part.

"I'm a sad panda." That's the line that absolutely cracked me up. Me-- not a sad panda. Love Tomas...he's got great lines. Love Silvia. Smart and classy. But they don't belong together long-term. She's way too smart, educated and sophisticated for him. But he'll find other women--lots of 'em no doubt. Just like he did when he and Pru were at the motel.

Sev's humiliation was awesome. And again, both actors handled the scene with finesse. In spite of frustration with the story, I have thoroughly enjoyed the acting in this one.

As I did the great recap and all the comments. This sure is a lively patio!

"But they also seem to be focusing on Adelina's murder--though, not very hard. So what they heck do they do all day?"
Um . . watch telenovelas produced in Miami?

Oy, oy, oy, Eli.

Started off the "morning" with your most excellent, fantastic, joyous-filled recap--even the death of the pillow was great theater.

Sev's pjs must have pockets and he always sleeps with a set of keys to his house in town. That house is right on a main street, so I can't quite see him hiding the keys in a flower pot. In any case, the thought of him sleeping with a set of keys to any house set me off.

Will be back later--after the 80 comments and counting.

I got a big kick out of watching El Mudo try to explain to Val that Sev doesn't live here anymore.

Vivi--as always, we are thinking alike, but you are quicker on the draw (no gun intended). I should shut my mouth until I read ALL the comments.

doris, oh is THAT what the guy at the front desk means when he tells people the MP is "taking a declaration" and they can't interrupt!

Just a quick thank you to Eli for another rocking retell. I missed the show last night.

Well, I would love to hang out here on the patio for awhile, but I am on my real patio trying to prepare my syllabi and materials for this semester which begins August 24. I just found out that I am teaching different classes than usually teach. This semester I am teaching an intermediate level reading class that I last taught a year ago..no problem there. However, I am also teaching a composition class which I only taught once 8 years ago in summer session. I need to do a lot of preparation for that one. Goodbye summer fun.

I will try tomtrake va break later from connectives, infinitives, gerunds, clauses, and passive voice verbs to check out the comments.

Mari's redemption may be based on who the actress is (my bad, but still). If Sev has to go down in flames, maybe they can't let her get too close to the flames, too.

I was totally distracted by one thing last night, and missed a lot of the convo between E-man and Aldie, so thank you, Eli for filling in their chit-chat about the huerta and the animales.

It was when Aldie had her back to us and all I could see was that ridiculously long hair extension hanging down underneath her real hair and it was obvious where the real hair ended (from the front it looks like a normal length). When will tn execs ever learn that we don't need all that hair on a "hairoine." First of all, in this tn at any rate, loose hair like that is particularly dangerous on a farm around machinery---OH, pardon me, Aldonza doesn't actually work, and the place has no machinery, just the burro to pull the plow. But still, she could have battle braids or bouncy pony tails for work and still look amazing, no?

Anita, your hair comment is cracking me up! They've done an excellent job of matching the color and texture, but I've seen enough ads for those "invisible" extensions, that it seems pretty obvious to me :D Her natural hair has some layering, but no stylist is going to leave such a blatant gap between the longest layer and the second-longest.

Susanlynn, I hope your prep work goes smoother than you anticipate and you have a little more fun time before break is over!

Here's how they could handle Val's end and still preserve Irma and Uriel's grandson: Val does something so heinous she gets sent to prison. When she has the baby, prison officials hand it over to her parents (*Irma and Uriel). Then proceed with Val's punishments. Works for me.

Did Flavia ever know the details of Adriano's involvement with Lardo's murder (ie, murder pillow talk). There has to be a way to get the info out, otherwise, as someone pointed out, why would they have kept Adriano alive in a coma all this time?

Also: I may be slow on the uptake, but weren't Aldonza and Cris all lovey-dovey after he "kidnapped" her? What happened to split them up again? Did I blink?

J in O

J in O, she decided they couldn't hide forever and Val was back in town pregnant with Cris' baby, which mean if she wanted to be with Cris she would be stuck with Val forever and besides she might "never be able to give Cris a baby" etc., etc., but I think ultimately, it was the fever that took them back to town.

I don't think Flavia ever had any major details. Unless she knows something she doesn't realize she knows, you know? Like, something she doesn't remember or something Adriano said that she never realized would lead back to Sev.

JinO--About Adriano: Flavia knew the police were looking for him while she and Adriano were "away." When she went back to SL to leave little Ray (or on one of their confrontations), Jock told her Adriano was suspected in Abe's death (yes?). Then we see her back in their "away" hotel and Adriano is hot to trot--out of town, that is--thus the bus confrontation with the police. I don't know if Abelardo's name ever crossed his lips. Vivi???

JudyB--Here sits another sad panda, but the Tomas-Silvia pairing wasn't going to be long term. You pointed out some of the insurmountable obstacles for them, but at the same time, I'm afraid Tomas has been spoiled by a woman like Silvia and he won't really enjoy the poolside-bar stool pick-up games anymore. JMHO. The collar may be his best companion after this.

Susanlynn--As a refresher, do take time to rewatch AV and the prepositional positions Victoria and Arriaga vigorously engaged in, way back when (and never forgotten--they are still on my DVR).

Adriano never gave Flavia any details about why he was in trouble. I think Javier is the best bet for connecting Sever to Lardo and Adriano.

Ugh! I totally forgot to subscribe to comments today! :(

I've got some reading to do!

Susanlynn - I'm glad you have classes to teach, but I feel for you! I hope you have a successful semester!
