Muchacha Italiana Viene a Casarse #10 Mon 9/7/15 (Mex 11-12) Fiorella, I love you!

Dante, on horseback, has poor Gianna at his mercy but we are made to go back inside the Big House at El Rancho Los Angeles (ERLA) to witness the aftermath of Eloisa’s dressing down of Sonia about her “convenient” miscarriage.

“You aren’t man enough to protect me from the witches in this family!”  screams Sonia as she confronts Osvaldo in their bedroom.  Osvaldo is decidedly not supportive, mimicking her manner of speech and even telling Sonia she asks for it!  Sonia sits down heavily on the bed and asks Osvaldo why he ever got interested in her.  Ah, don’t start, he replies.  Sonia deserves an answer:   she dropped her career for him!  He sees this differently as well:  SHE dropped her career because she got pregnant and even implies this was meant to entrap him.  Sonia splays her hands helplessly.  He died!  You remember how it happened!  He died.  Osvaldo finally seems to connect to Sonia’s pain and is silent.

Russian, one of Dante’s security dudes, has Gigi in his office.  Multi-display monitors show feeds from closed circuit cameras placed around the ranch.  Gigi is breathless and tearful as she tells Russian that Pedro asked her and her sister to come to Rancho Los Angeles.  Russian calls Dante on the walky talky and he orders Russian to hold her until the police arrive.  Gigi begs to be let go to find her sister.  She tells him she feels very badly and dizzy because of her illlness.  Russian doesn’t believe her and tells her to stop lying and complaining!

We cut briefly to a frantic Fiorella, crying and screaming Gianna’s name.  She is distraught:  they have her because she brought her here!

Back in the Big House, Osvaldo has left Sonia sobbing loudly.  Pedro is passing by, hears her and knocks on the door.  She opens it and sobs that everybody in his family hates her and even her husband doesn’t love her!   In his own Pedro way, he tries to comfort her:  she chose to be a part of “difficult” family.   No, she did not, but this is where she landed for having an “angel baby.”  Pedro says he knows it is hard losing a baby and then utters that famous word that is uttered in during every calamity from broken nails to kidnappings and angel babies:  tranquila.  Calm down.  [Well, that’s good for Pedro.]

Ah, it’s Sunday supper at ERLA.   Eloisa heads the table and the whole hee haw gang is there.  Well, except for Sonia:    Pedro, Federica, Osvaldo, Julieta, Gael and Roxy.  Eloisa manages to say something positive about the family all being gathered together for Sunday supper which is a cue for Federica to crap on this observation.  Federica doesn’t think Maximo enjoyed being all together with the family.  He always seemed to have something else to do and somewhere else to be at suppertime.  Eloisa takes this evenly but warns that no one should speak ill of Maximo and besides, he changed just before he died.   Pedro offers that Maximo always treated him very well.  No one is speaking ill of Maximo pipes up Federica, she's just telling the truth.  Apparently Maximo had a lot to repenting to do. . . .Eloisa interrupts sharply telling Federica er she will NOT stand for Maximo to be dissed! Roxy has to put in her two cents that thanks to Maximo, they are all there to annoy Eloisa.  That’s it!  Eloisa huffs off to her bedroom to finish her meal.   She’d rather eat alone than have to listen to all their idiocy!

Everyone sits back down after Eloisa leaves and Julieta notes that the dogs have been barking up a storm for quite a while.  Osvaldo informs her they had intruders on the property today.

Oh, thank goodness.  Fidel comes into the security office and asks what they devil they’re doing to this child!  She slumps against his shoulder as he puts his arm around her.  She murmurs for his sister.

Osvaldo decides to introduce another pleasant mealtime topic – NOT:  the horrible accident of the two foreign girls in the taxi.  Sergio adds that it’s all the talk in Two Rivers.  Roxy is excited to share that one of them even went through the windshield but that was the one that survived, the other was stuck between the seat and the door!  Pedro asks if anyone knows their names or ages.  Why all the concern?  Pedro doesn’t like the morbid curiosity with which the accident is being discussed.  Sergio thinks their questions should be answered tomorrow when the papers publish the details.  Federica is not surprised.  She had blood and guts in her cards today.  Pedro stops the conversation, it’s not a topic for mealtime!  Dante enters and convinces Pedro to come with him.  He has a problem and Fidel is sticking his nose in where it doesn’t belong!

As they walk toward the security office, Dante speaks as if he is sure the girls are part of a band of burglars.  He has one of them being watched by the guards but that stupid man (Fidel) is not letting him do his job.  Once at the security office, Dante and Russian leave.  Not very gently, Pedro asks Gigi where Fifi is.  She is delirious and only echoes his question.  [Y’all can drink if you want to!]  Fidel gathers that Fifi and Gigi must not be the girls in the accident.  Pedro calls Dante to take Gigi to the employees’ quarters and when he protests, he asks Fidel to do so.  Outside, one of the security dudes brings a struggling and protesting Fifi to the security office.  Pedro tells them he wants to talk to her alone and tells Dante to cancel the call to the police.

Over at La Dolce Vita, Benito is searching the internet for information on the accident.  When Vitto comes in, Benito asks for some time off to go to the Dr.  Vitto will think about it.  Right now Benito needs to get out to the dining room.  They have a full house!

Lunch is over and Federica wants to read Julieta’s cards.  Julieta remarks that she’s known this family for years and can’t get over how they still don’t get along.  Well, that’s the way it is.  At least Julieta can leave when her husband arrives.  Julieta doesn’t seemed thrilled with this prospect.  Pedro is the only good one in the family Federica says and Julieta notes what a good catch he is and how many chicas seemed to be just loca over him at the party.   Well duh, he’s handsome, single and a millionaire.  What’s not to go crazy for says Freddie.    Julieta notices that none of them caught Pedro’s eye.  Eh, someone will snag him Freddie thinks.  Julieta invites Freddie for a walk around the ranch but Freddie declines so she goes alone.

Okay.  So Pedro and Fifi are alone outside the security office.  He says quietly he thought they were in the terrible accident.  Of course she doesn’t know so he tells her of the fatal accident.  She thinks he feels it would have been convenient if it WERE them involved and this escalates into an argument.  He point blank accuses her of using her sister’s illness as a pretext to rob him.  She is indignant!  She would NEVER use her sister’s illness for such lowness and she’s not a thief!   Oh no!  Why should he believe her?  He just met her two days ago working for Tania just before she dies and then immediately tries to blackmail him.  She told him she needed medicine for her sister.  He reminds her why they are now at his house, face to face.  What kind of person uses a dead woman’s journal as leverage to get her way?  This takes Fifi down a peg and she repeats, more calmly now, her need to WORK to earn money to pay for her sister’s medicine.  She’s not a liar nor a thief, she just wants an honest job.

Julieta sees Pedro and Fifi from a distance and wonders to herself who this girl could be.  Pedro wants to know why they didn’t show up at the plaza.  Fifi offers a review of the whole hotel bill fiasco which made them late for the meeting in the plaza.  The cab took them to the wrong place and. . . So, Pedro interjects, instead of coming to knock on the door, you jump the fence with your sick sister. . .NO!  The gate was open and they were about to go in and suddenly there were guards and barking dogs chasing them.   It’s all his fault!   Then they argue about the party and she stops her tirade to sing him an off key bar of “happy birthday to you” and I think a smile flits across Pedro’s face as she lights into him about all the trouble he caused, among which is her sister’s tachycardia and she DEMANDS he let her go right now or she’s going to launch another scandal right now in front of his whole family!  Phew!

In the employee’s quarters, Gigi seems to have gotten a second wind and pleads with  Dante, Simoneta and Joaquina for her sister.  They’ve given her bread and she takes a break to wolf some down.  Joaquina surprises me by wondering if they should call a priest.  Gigi seems to be possessed, or a ghost!  Dante wants them to listen and watch her in case she confesses.  The ladies complain because Sunday is their day off!  Dante gets a call from Pedro and takes Gigi with him with him and Simoneta is to come, too.  As the group approaches Pedro and Fifi, the girls run into each other’s arms.   Dante starts in on trying to aggressively question Fifi about how many thieves are in their pack.  Pedro dismisses him.  Simoneta stays and asks about the pretty girls and if his tastes in girlfriends has changed.  Pedro seems to blush.  Julieta is taking in the scene from behind a tall hedge.

Julieta can’t wait to get back to tell Freddie that she saw Pedro arguing with a girl in the garden.  She was very pretty, though humble in appearance.  She got a weird vibe from her.  Another younger girl arrived later.  She repeats she doesn’t like the older one at all.  Freddie examines “the wheel of fortune” arrangement of her cards.  There is the moon and two lovers, and a girl standing in the garden.  Julieta tries to wave her off.  She doesn’t believe in such things!  This tells of things to come.  It will be something big with a lot of light and it will turn everything upside down.

Pedro sends the girls with Simoneta.  Gigi tells Pedro she is glad to know he’s not bad and thanks him.  He asks Fifi to wait.

Dante gets to Eloisa to tell his side of the story.  He stopped them in time but they did manage to release a horse. He’s surprised at Pedro’s attitude towards the girls.  Eloisa reminds Dante it’s not his place to question the boss’s actions and motives.  He needs to calm down:  there are too many crazy people in the house already.  He should investigate and keep her posted and not neglect to ask questions of Pedro, himself.  Eloisa dismisses him and opens a book and turns to a page with a picture of a young Maximo.  She asks herself when their grandson became the benefactor of late employees.  “What is your grandson up to?”

Pedro tells Fifi she is going to complete her contract with him as planned.  She will work for him and he will find a Dr. and pay the complete costs for Gianna's treatment.  Fifi thanks him profusely, smiling brilliantly and says she knew he had a heart!  She will work faithfully and without complaint.  Simoneta will show her the ropes.  There are two conditions.  First, she is to keep to the story that her father used to work for him and that is why he is helping them.   The second is that under NO circumstances is she to enter the Big House.  He does not want her to have any contact with his family.  She knows about his relationship with Tania and that is part of his life that he wants to keep secret from his family.  Fiorella’s face has fallen and her spark has dimmed.  Pedro continues.  She’s got what she wanted.  She is working for him, her sister is living with her here at the ranch but she should not think that this means he trusts her.  She must keep her promise of not showing Tania’s journal to anybody.  She promises, looking him square and unsmilingly in the eye.  He will pretend that they never met.  She thinks surely they will run into each other from time to time. . . .NO!  She works at the Rancho but he does not want to be near her, or see her, or talk to her, ever.  Is that clear?

After all that she asks, with a softness in her voice, if that means they will NEVER see each other.  Pedro turns his back, unable to face this soft assault.  He thinks it’s better that way.  That’s fine.  Fiorella says she will work and she will pay him back every cent of what her sister’s care costed.  Pedro flinches very subtly but turns to her and says that it’s only fair.  Fifi answers, “I am sorry that your heart is so cold and ugly.  It’s too bad you can’t stand to be around me. Do you know what?  I feel sorry for you.  I am at your service.”  Fifi starts to walk away and then comes back to tell him she hopes to thank his Grandmother someday.   He doubts she’ll ever meet her but will pass the message alone.  He tells her to leave.   The two legged guard dog, Dante, approaches and starts barking to Pedro about Fiorella and her sister being thieves.  Pedro fends him off:  they will only work in the employee’s quarters; nobody will cross paths with them.  Stand down, hell hound!  Dante finally leaves and Fifi does as well but remembers she doesn’t know where to find Simoneta.  Will he accompany her?  Pedro accepts and Fifi smiles a quiet but triumphant smile.

Julieta and Freddie are still talking about the mystery girls when Osvaldo comes up and asks what’s going down.  Dante enters and states one will work in the employee's quarters (EQa0 and the other is her sister.  Dante has a bad feeling about those two [yes, we know.] but he’s just a peon.  His opinion doesn’t matter.  Julieta repeats that the older one gives her bad vibes as well.  Feddie assures her not to worry:  when her husband comes back, he will have eyes only for her.

A little comic relief as Benito changes his story for why he wants time off, this time a sick aunt is involved.  Vitto grants him the time and shoos him off.

In the kitchen of the EQ with Simoneta, Gigi gets a tummy full while Freddie listens in around the corner and gets an earful on the girl’s background.  They lived in Italy and came here because she was going to marry a rich Italian, but they couldn’t find him.  How did they come from Italy if they are daughters of a former employee?  They lived there before their father died and he used to send them money.  When he died they were penniless and had to come to Mexico.  They are at ERLA because of a promise from Sr. Pedro.  The Italian is a friend of Fiorella’s who asked her to marry him.  When they couldn’t find him they asked to come there so he could keep his word.

Dante continues to rag Eloisa about the girls.  What are they hiding?  She’s more concerned about the bunch of treacherous slugs in the house that Maximo has made her put up with!  Well.  Dante thinks they are not dangerous as long as they don’t find out something they don’t need to know.  “You know that’s not convenient for any of us, is it?”  She punctuates this question with the end of her wicked looking walking stick.  Dante changes the subject by suggesting she go to watch one of her romantic flicks she likes so much.  She agrees and enters what I thought was her bedroom but Gael is there playing a video game.  She decides to go to the sauna instead.  Gael removes his headphones and apologizes for not having heard her.  “It’s not your fault that you didn’t get enough oxygen when you were born!”  Gael’s face looks like he should, indeed, ask forgiveness for having been born.

Pedro has shown Fiorella to the EQ and she has him wait and rejoins him in the kitchen.  She is a little breathless when she returns.

Fifi:  I want to thank you for keeping your word and I will do the same.

He sees the diary in her hands.  She steps forward and gives it to him.

Fifi:  So that you can see that you can trust me, so you can see that I am a person of my word.    I’m very sorry for having used that diary to force you to bring us here.  I needed to bring my sister to a place like this so she could get better.

Peter looks at her with a seriously knit brow.

Fifi:  I would have asked you myself, but you never would have listened to me, would you?

Pedro:  You don’t know that.

I thank St. Biagio for my having met Tania because, thanks to her, I met you.  [She says something else but the sound and picture pixilated.]    He thanks her and she thanks him again.  Pedro strides rapidly to the door and looks at Fiorella through the glass panes, his face a study in surprise and disbelief.

Adela and Rey have been looking at the news and searching the internet for information on the accident.  Benito arrives just in time to stop his mom from calling the Private Investigator, Zacharias, to tell him she fears the girls were involved.  Benito wants them to verify this before saying anything.  [I see why these two have only one child.  This bonehead is constantly interrupting!]

Speaking of interruptions, Freddie can’t wait to infect Sonia with the news of the girls arrival.  She crashes Sonia’s yoga session to tell her of two mysterious girls who have arrived at ERLA.  First, she has to insult her by musing that she thought pole dancing was more Sonia’s style.  [Why do I feel that Freddie hasn’t even ramped up the bitch-o-meter yet?]  Ah, Freddie gets a bad vibe from the oldest.  She thinks she’s a gold digger.  She heard that she was about to marry a rich Italian but got Pedro to bring her here instead.  She could end up marrying Pedro in which case Eloisa would give her everything.  “Or worse, she could steal Osvaldo from you.  Ah!  Throw it out of your mind!  I’m just feeling a little paranoid, or have had one too many tequilas!”  Sonia laughs but the smile quickly drops off after Freddie leaves.

Our last scene is a glorious, impressionistic tableau in the sunwashed gardens of ERLA.  Pedro asks Fiorella if they can start again.  Start their relationship over from the day she nearly ran him over with her bicycle.  Cue the instrumental version of the theme song.  Fiorella doesn’t understand.  She thought he didn’t ever want to see her.  Pedro answers that you don’t understand love, you live love, you enjoy love, you share love with the person you love most in life.  She asks what is he saying.

I love you.  I love you, Fiorella.  Pedro leans in so very slowly and their lips touch ever so slightly, ever so tenderly and Fiorella leans in to savor it, to deepen it.. . .

Theme songus interuptus as Fiorella, alone in the garden, scolds herself to stop it!  She is engaged to Vittorio and she’s got to find him!  Besides, Sr. Pedro doesn’t want to see her.  Stop daydreaming, she sighs, that’s enough.

[And we sigh, too!  Dagnabbit!]

Okay guys! Here it is. Got kind of long-winded! Sorry! I'll edit in the morning, it's back to work tomorrow, gotta hit the hay!

Lila! La mia sorrella! I've only gotten as far as the title, but I'm already smiling. I think it's possible I might love Fiorella, too...or at least I might like her more than I did yesterday :D

Ok, back for more now that I've finished reading! Grazie, Lila, it was bella!

"And we sigh, too! Dagnabbit!" Well, heck yeah, that little fantasy sequence was swoon-worthy! I didn't even care that it made no sense when it started, I just wanted them to go for it already! Give in to the fresh air and the flowers and quit torturing us all!

"Then they argue about the party and she stops her tirade to sing him an off key bar of 'happy birthday to you' and I think a smile flits across Pedro’s face as she lights into him about all the trouble he caused" Oh, yeah, that right there, that was the moment...with the music swelling and Fi finally teasing him instead of screeching at him and Pedro finally finding it charming. THIS is what we've been waiting for since the beginning!

There were a lot of people suddenly softening today. Pedro with Fiorella, of course, but his conversation with Sonia was also tender. At least she seemed comforted, even though that whole "[you] chose to be part of a 'difficult' family" thing sounded a little harsh. I'm not sure that Eloisa didn't get a little choked up looking at Gael there in the entertainment room or whatever it was...it seemed like she said something horrible to cover up her real emotions, and now it makes me curious.

They were not at all subtle with the music cues when Julieta was looking at Fiorella...er, at least I thought I heard a little bit of a "this is significant" cymbal sound when she was watching from the hedges. And I remembered that Mario said something to Fiorella before he died...so I looked it up and what I wrote in the recap for the first episode was "One day she'll find out some things she won't understand, but she should remember that he always loved her. All will be revealed at the proper time." And on Friday's episode, Julieta said something about having to get rid of a baby...did she maybe mean give one away?

Thank you, Lila! I only half paid attention last night. Your recap filled a lot of gaps.

Laughed at -

Theme songus interruptus

Your theory about why Adela and Ray only have one child

Even though it was only a daydream, that scene at the end shows that these two have a lot of chemistry and there may be a lot of swooning in our future. I'm sold. I like this show more and more every episode.

Diva- let's also throw in the fact that Julieta doesn't like Fifi. Sometimes the llamada de la sangre works negatively.

Por dios. LlamadO. I seem to recall being called out for that error before.

Diva! Sorella mia! Mille grazie! Girl, they got us real good, didn't they! Pedro was so surprised at the return of the diary that for a minute it seemed believeable though I was still very surprised!

Yes, Pedro is thawing for sure! Yippee! And yes, I'll take a fake kiss! Thanks for that bit on the scene with Gael. I was really confused. There is a real mysterious undercurrent in the relationship with Gael, Osvaldo and Pedro. Who knows what is behind it all!

Thank you for this as well and let's remember this, Muchacha Peeps:

I remembered that Mario [Fiorella's Dad} said something to Fiorella before he died...so I looked it up and what I wrote in the recap for the first episode was "One day she'll find out some things she won't understand, but she should remember that he always loved her. All will be revealed at the proper time." And on Friday's episode, Julieta said something about having to get rid of a baby...did she maybe mean give one away?

Mille grazie, sorella Sara! Oh, this is why I love you guys: You mention Julieta not liking Fifi because of negative call of the blood! Expand please! I hadn't even thought of that! I was thinking, as Freddie implied, that Julieta don't like no comely young chicks because of her husbands roving. . .uhm, eye! Sara and Diva, please keep me from going off the deep end but I'm loving the slow build and the underlying mysteries. And yes! I'm ready to swoon!

I want to thank everyone in advance! I'm back to work after two weeks off so I may not be able to chat like I have been since the show started. Don't let that stop y'all. I know we don't have quite the audience of La Sombra, but I'm happy to be back in the sunlight! Let's enjoy this!

I remember in TdA that Victoria was a complete witch to her long lost daughter.... Until she found out she was her long lost daughter. So sometimes people get the Llamado de la sangre, but they misinterpret the message.

I'm enjoying the slow build, especially after the quick build and the languishing middle of Sombra.

Hey, Lila, thank you for this! Your story telling is great, and helps me to span the space between English, Spanish and Italian.

Granny telling Gael that he didn't get enough oxygen when he was born was one of the nicest things she has said to her nietos.

I don't know what to make of the Sonia character. She seems genuinely distraught over losing her baby, but when they inject that she gave up her "career," I just have to laugh; we've seen her perform! Her "career" should be restricted to the shower. Having said that, her husband seems to be an unlikely combination of low intelligence and high insensitivity.

5ft, Fifi could be Julieta's lost baby? WOW!! I love that, even if it doesn't pan out. Frankly, I am not understanding exactly what role Julieta serves in this, unless it is to be a mirror for the actions of the rest of the crazy household.

I guess the Freddy character is just there to stir the pot and evoke certain kinds of reactions from the other characters when needed.

Dante seems rather closer to Eloisa than would be warranted by his position. I wonder if there is a story there.

Thanks again, Lila. Loved every line you wrote.

David

You're probably right about the Federica character, David. I would also suggest she's there for the fashion. I love the way she dresses. :-)

Ok, Sara. Understood! Man! Ain't no telling WHAT's going on. Julieta definitely did make a very emotional comment about how terrible it is to lose a baby and we don't know if she meant miscarriage, abortion, abduction or "forced" adoption!

David! Grazie, mille grazie! Sonia IS a puzzle. Poor thing, I guess she's a signing legend in her own mind! And you nailed Osvaldo: Having said that, her husband seems to be an unlikely combination of low intelligence and high insensitivity.

I like your speculations on the roles of Freddie and Julieta. Federica is certainly a trouble maker. I don't know if there's strategy behind it or if she's just keeping herself amused until she goes for Eloisa's jugular to defend her daddy, who was done wrong.

And Dante? Eloisa seems to keep him close cause he's got some dirt on her or Maximo? It's something that benefits them both to be kept under wraps yet Dante is plotting with Freddie as well AGAINST Eloisa. Does Freddie know what Dante and Eloisa's secret is?

I hope somebody with better skill at sniffing out mysteries keeps track of these. What a tangled web!

Sara, since I am slavishly dependent on the cc's, I rarely notice what people are wearing, and I think my fashion sense is probably not as fine tuned as it probably should be. So I will go with your observations.

David

David- I miss a lot of dialogue while watching the clothes and the accessories lol. Which is odd since I'm really more of a pajamas kind of gal. I guess I appreciate good fashion, but I don't partake of it.

Yes, Lila! So many little mysteries going in. *rubs hands together in anticipation *

Good morning, all. I am back on my 5.15 am schedule..yawn.

Lila, thank you for that detailed retelling of the new developments.

There are a lot of grumpy folks in this show. The guy playing Dante planned a similar part in Corazon Salvaje. ...
Kind of an Igor role. Abuela is nasty.

I definitely get a Dynasty-Fslcon Crest-Dallas vibe when the family sits down at that dinner table.

Sara and David, I always notice the wardrobe , but I do not comment on it too often because I once got a scolding from someone when I remarked on the verra short, skintight dresses that both the young leading lady AND the hoorrrrs wore. it seems that in addition to reading tarot cards, Fed spends a lot of her time putting together colorful , artsy outfits. Move over Pru, here comes Feddy. Oh...fashion alert : I just read in Glamour magazine that granny panties are newly trendy.

5ft, since I was a baby who had to be gotten rid of, this particular story line always catches my attention. I hope that your musings turn out to be true, and that Julieta and Fifi reunite as long lost child and always yearning mother.

Sara, jammies are cool. When I was gainfully employed, I always wore a shirt and tie to my office, but since I have retired, I wear some of the weirdest combinations of clothes that you could imagine.

David

David...My hub has some verra old coaches shorts (that are verra SHORT) that he refuses to get rid of , and he wears them all the time around the house and yard. I am fine with that because he has really good legs but I make him wear the kind of regular knee length bermuda shorts( that normal guys wear )when we go out into polite society together. He has about five pairs of these coaches shorts that just will not die! He tried to wear them when he was caddying at a country club, but the caddy master did not like them either. They are in the wash every week , and I would so like to make them disappear.

Mornin' all!

sara, I need a grammar lesson! I've heard both "llamada" and "llamado" applied to phone calls, but usually "llamada de la sangre." I looked it up online and found both "llamada" and "llamado"...is this a case of regional differences or just one of those "everybody always says it wrong" things that only sounds right now because it's a common error?

Lila, I'm looking forward to getting into all the undercurrents and finding out more about the family history. Seems like they've set up a lot of mysteries. I just hope they also set up the answers and aren't going to make things up at the last minute!

David, I don't understand what Julieta is doing there either. It feels very contrived to me that she just happened to show up just at this time, just before Fiorella and Gianna arrived. I may be seeing coincidences where there aren't any, but if Julieta has this deep pain and Fiorella is so clearly in need of a parent (ok, she got them to the ranch, but...blackmail?) it sure would be nice to find out they're connected.

sara, "I'm really more of a pajamas kind of gal," well, Federica's flowing outfits do have that easy-to-wear feel :D

Susanlynn, oh, I think I know the shorts you're talking about! I was in a play a couple of years ago about the Mighty Vandals, AZ's high school basketball state champions in 1951. It was a bit of a shock for the actors when they first had to try those basketball uniforms on!

Lol. I'm verrra entertained by your brogue, Susanlynn!

5ft- I wish I could remember which show where it came up. But someone gave an explanation of the the Llamad@ de la sangre.

Kat..These shorts are not quite that short. They are not those super short player basketball player shorts, but rather the not quite as short shorts that the coaches wore. They have a lot of spandex and a zipper. I guess hub got them when he was referring basketball. Luckily, they are no longer made. He's checked with coaches he knows. Que lastima. Hub is verra attached to them. They will not die.

OT ..Sara..I am glad that you noticed my "verra". Did you notice " hoorrrs?" I also have started peppering my conversations with " Do you Ken?" I hope that you have checked out Those hilarious screencaps of Outlander . I laugh outloud at them. Goggle : Outlander Killing Time connievb" They remibd me so much of our funny , irreverant , sassy, saucy recaps here.I am always in need of a laugh.

I'll try to check out the site. I need a laugh too. We are analyzing data. Yuck.

I'm treating myself to a marathon today (except for the one episode I accidentally deleted) so I'll fill you in on some of the details that seemed not so important before, but now are taking on a new significance...

Like the fact that according to Eloisa, the entire family loved Pedro's mom, Pilar, and they were all deeply affected by "what happened," but especially Pedro, who "can't erase it from his mind."

Keep those coming, 5ft! I'd forgotten all that.

It didn't register at the time. It just came across as "Yeah, yeah, we were all sad, quit drinking already!"

"Analyzing data".... That does not sound fun...at all. I have been analyzing laundry and dishes. I should be working on my textbooks, but I accidentally left them at school.

P.s. Hub just recently left the house for an appointment in his favorite shorts...I give up.

Susanlynn...I laughed, I'm sorry! I'm just picturing the epic eye rolling for The Shorts!

Och Susanlynn, the male bairns can be so verra frustrating.

I hope that the writers actually KNOW what terrible thing happened to Pilar and aren't just putting that pot on the back burner and hoping to be inspired..later.

Ermegerd...you are so right. ...verra, verra brah but verra, verra frustrating also.

OK, this isn't a very deep thought, but it looks like Diana (Tania's BFF) and Adela both had the same side braid, so maybe Adela's bangs were intended to not make the two styles exactly the same. Or it's a wig. Either way.

Kat...epic..yes..it has been a longstanding battle. Today, I let him leave without a word because sometimes I just have no fight in me and decide to just let him be .I could shave my head and paint a daisy on my scalp and he would not say a word, so.....However, I will not accompany him out of the house wearing those shorts except to the grocery store. I just do not care. I have been thinking about getting myself a pair of short shorts and seeing how he feels about letting me out of the house in them.

Ah, but you know he'd think your short shorts are fabulous and wouldn't see anything wrong with them!

The booze in Tania's apartment is indeed Chuck Daniels.

Yay! Validation!

Ok. I'm going to attempt to peck this out in my phone. Be prepared for autocorrect fails.

I am very entertained by this one, yet I find that there's not much to say about it. Does that make sense? Or is this just me?

In addition to loving pajamas, I am also starting to become curious about reading cards. I've even pulled out my copy of The Way of the Tarot by Alejandro Jodorowsky that I bought years ago (actually discovered I had one copy in English and one in Spanish... WTH, self?)

There's room for interpretation when it comes to things like Fiorella...harmless or metiche? Pedro...tortured or just a jerk? Eloisa...heartless or covering up a deep pain? But in general it's pretty straightforward...is that what you mean, Sara?

Maybe? I feel a bit like a dullard. I'm not picking up any "deep" pain vibe from Eloisa. Just cranky old lady vibes. I must not be watching carefully.

Hm, ok, they brought up that Diana, the BFF, who is pregnant has a boyfriend who won't commit. Did we meet Diana just for the sake of her conversations with Tania and we're not going to see her again? Or is there more to her story where she ties back in with the rest of the characters.

Chuck Daniels..ha.

sara..I think that there is not much to say because the rancho guests don't do anything..except yoga, reading cards, waiting for the will. Plus, Pedro is on the ranch now, so there is no biznes happening .

Now to prove that I am not a robot by identifying pie. I want pie.

Well, you have to remember that any deep feelings could be all in my head :D

In my experience the patio is much more perceptive than I am.

hey..Eloisa..I 'll bet that she wears granny panties...or maybe she always looks cranky because she actually wears thongs.

I get no deep feelings from anyone in this show.

I am hoping for some good looking horses. I miss Sombra and his Fresian friend.

I'm in the minority, but I really dig Fifi. No clue why though.

And Gael. I can't shake the feeling that he is deeply misunderstood and is a nice guy.

Okay..Gael..I could feel some feelings for Gael. Maybe he could end up with Gigi once she gets over the fainting . I do not wish toxic teen Roxy on anyone.

I totally want Gael and Gianna together!

Previous use of the subtle cymbal roll...When Tania is upset and Fiorella breaks in to see if she's ok, when Tania says Fi is the only person who understands her and she feels like a "sister" to Tania, it comes in briefly when Tania takes Fi's hand. Though it repeats multiple times under the music in the scene. So it could mean something, or it could just be part of the music.

I wish that I had that subtle cymbal sound effect in my real life. I would use it all the time, especially when I enter the classroom.

Would you pause dramatically in the doorway while all eyes turned to you? 'Cause that would be fabulous!

Thanks so much Ms. Lila. And I've been meaning to ask, all that Italian rolling off your tongue (so to speak). Are you fluent in that language as well? Anyway, adds to the fun of all you write m'dear.

Ah me, still a bit confused after a week away, but knew not to fall for that lovely daydream of Fiorella. Still, having dreamed many a romance like that, I enjoyed it anyway. And hopefully one day it will all come true.

Bit bleary-eyed this morning after staying up to watch the OSU Virginia Tech game, but enjoyed the recap immensely. And wish I knew Italian...it sounds so delicious being spoken! Rich and juicy.

Thank you Lila. Kinda lost but this helps bunches.

"And we sigh, too! Dagnabbit!"

Well, that apology from Fifi a surprise.

Nice to see you back JudyB and tofie! Are you back from traveling the world, tofie?

Kat...yes...yes I would.

I'm totally pausing dramatically tomorrow.

Yep, I'm back, got in late yesterday, with flights and layovers takes 28 hours. My head feels like a football. 12 hour difference in time so it will be awhile before I adjust. Tried to watch the show last night but kept dozing off.

Glad you're home safe!

Hi tofie and JudyB!

Re:Sonia. Now that I'm re-watching, it's everyone else who teases her and hints that she wants Pedro, and that influenced how I look at her, taking all the barbs at face value. I'm questioning, after this episode especially, whether that's really what's going on. I mean, she had an opportunity to draw him in when they had their private moment, but she made no moves in that direction, that I could see.

Hi, tofie and judyb.

Sara...yeah...me, too....the sound effect can be in our heads.

Hm, you could always hire someone to follow you around with a cymbal...just a suggestion :p

Re: Roxana. She keeps getting her weekend shenanigans posted online and told Granny it must be "that reporter" again...I'm wondering if "that reporter" is actually Federica, publishing under a pseudonym, maybe bringing in a little extra cash on the side...some tequila money or her hat fund.

Wow. I seriously need to pay closer attention or make a greater effort to remember what's going on. Thank you for these updates, 5ft.

I wonder how much the salary is for a personal cymbalist?

Hi, Susanlynn! You are welcome! Lots of grumpy people, indeed! Wonder what Fifi is going to make of all of these people!

Diva, ITA re the mysteries: I just hope they also set up the answers and aren't going to make things up at the last minute!

Ooo, Diva, thanks for the reminder of Pedro's mom's name. Jeezopete. There may be some actual skeletons in the closet at El Rancho! Thanks for rewatching Diva, you can help clear up and splain stuff.

I call those old-timey basketball shorts, "Dukes for Dudes."

Susanlynn, you've almost got me wanting to check out Outlander. Are they books and a tv series as well. Pardon me if this is already covered ground.

Judy B! Amica preziosa e cara! Grazie, mille grazie! Amo le lingue latine. Tutti loro sono deliziosi! My dear and precious friend. I love Latin languages. All of them are delicious! And with the internet, it's easy to explore, play around and sound like you know what you're talking about! ;D Off work, making my way down the comments!

Loving y'all's conversation!

Sara, I think Gael is gorgeous and I have thought from the start he's not like the other vultures. He needs to steer clear of that harpy, Roxy! Uuuuf!

Tofie! Yaaay! You are welcome, girl! Benvenuto, amica mia! Yes! I loved the apology from Fifi and her returning the diary. You're not in the minority, Sara. I was pissed at her last week but I've kinda forgotten it. I love that she is already in love with Pedro and I know she will not let him abuse or make a fool of her.

I just watched Gael talking to Rox about her missing button. He was so earnestly trying to be helpful. He probably would have sewn the damn button on for her if she'd asked him.

Lila, I nearly spit out my drink at "Dukes for Dudes!"

Lila.. There are eight books in the Outlander series . The first was written 20 years ago. If you like romantic , redhaired, manly Scottish warriors and bold , brassy , confident WWII nurses you will like this story as it spans their love story for many years in many places. It is a time traveling romance with lots of history thrown on. Jamie is verra romantic. He calls Clair "my brownhaired lass", but in Gaelic. There are lots of interesting characters , including a verra evil villain. The first book was made into a TV series for Starz this year. The dvd is available for the first part of the first season. The second book is being filmed now and will be shown next year. Goggle the title and you can see lots of photos and recaps and read summaries. The author is Diana Gabaldon.

Diva, it's kinda shocking when you look at old basketball games. It looks so, so.. . immodest! But then, look how women's sports attire seems to be always body baring even when the men are buttoned-up to the neck. I don't allow Mr. Lila to wear shorts in public. He's got everything else but gams, uh, no.

Thank you, Susanlynn! Hmmm. Sounds interesting. Got some "Mc" in my blood. Is that Scottish? Regardless of culture, I love me some romance bwetween people who are willing to express and fight FOR their love, not against each other! Mille grazie, amica!

Lila...Here's a quote from the book\show to illustrate the level of romance :

"I give ye my body that we two may be one; I give ye my spirit til our lives be done." And that is a good description of how the whole long tale spins out....lots of body and spirit giving throughout.

Lila..yes, "Mc" or "Mac" is Scottish. I am English\German with some Norse thrown in there and hub is German\Danish. However, my son in law is Scot\Irish. You gotta love a laddie in a kilt.

Oooo, Susanlynn, what a lovely quote. And this: lots of body and spirit giving throughout.

Yah, baby! Thanks, again!

Lila - Thank you for the recap!!! My first chance to sit in front of the computer all day and don't know if I'll get to watch this episode. Looks like our Fifi is maybe having a bit of a crush on Pedro. And so we begin..... ;-)

Doris! Hey, girl! Yes, she's got a crush all right. She was going after him in that dream kiss, wasn't she! Thank you, Doris!
