Lo Imperdonable #115 Mon 10/26/15 The cousins chase Vero, who is running from Marty, who is pursued by Aarón, who is wanted all over Mexico. Got that?

Think about it.  Mexico City is enormous.  Over nine million people live in the city proper within an area of 573 square miles.  (In the greater metropolitan area, there are more than 20 million.)  But judging by tonight's episode, the Distrito Federal is just another pueblo pequeño.

Lo de antes:

Martín goes to Virginia's room to confront her.  While he is there, she gets a call from Aarón.

Arturo knocks Verónica down with his bike as she is wandering in a daze through the city streets.

Lo nuevo:

Maybe it's the big bandage on her head and the hospital gown over the sweat pants.  Maybe it's the bruises on her lovely face or her utter confusion and helplessness.  But after the accident, Arturo feels responsible for this Damsel in Distress. He tries to persuade her to come with him so he can take care of her.  Though Verónica is very frightened, she decides to take a chance – she puts herself at the mercy of this sympathetic young man.

Halloween has come early to the vecindad

In Mexico City, Aarón, wearing tortoise-shell horn rims and blue surgical scrubs, makes his limping way down the stairs of the vecindad.  He looks down at his phone and mutters angrily.  That stupid woman thinks she can ignore his call!

Virginia squeaks, Martín squawks

In Pueblo Nuevo, Virginia plays innocent, her voice cracking, her marvelously mobile eyebrows tracing her sorrow and exasperation at the false accusations of the bully.   Marty swears that if her caller is in fact Verónica's father, she will shed lágrimas de sangre (tears of blood).   She tries to push him out the door.  He won't leave without an answer.  Is she a murderer?

Enough, says Virginia.  Enough!  She really isn't feeling well.  Suddenly she collapses, Martín catching her before she hits the floor.

So Padre Juan was right!

Joaquín, Raymunda and Polo have come to visit their daughter the nurse.  After the happy greetings, Ana Perla admits that she fled from Mina Escondida because Manuel tried to kill her.  She begged Blanquita to keep her whereabouts a secret for fear her brother would come after her.

Is Manuel making smores in his indoor fire pit?

Um, not exactly.  He has found a copy of the Old Goat's will, and now he is feeding it into the flames. "Pure ashes," he says.  Then he douses the flames with his coffee.

But Manuel is not alone.  Nanciyaga has entered soundlessly; and now she turns round and round, holding her censer aloft and dispersing the smoke of her powerful, burning herbs.  "The good winds that sweep away the cold, rotting, fallen leaves are coming for the man who is rotten to the core (el hombre de mala entraña)."   Manny scoffs.  Did she come to babble stupidities?  No.  She came to warn him that his end is near.  He need not spin any more intrigues (literally, tejer telarañas, to weave cobwebs) because the good winds will take them apart.  "Nothing will be left of you."

In Pueblo Nuevo, Virginia is unconscious.  Marty checks for a pulse.

In the vecindad in the city, Chelas reminds Aarón that it's polite to share.  Aarón grabs Chelas and warns him that bad things happen to people who cross him.

Walk softly but carry a big machete – and salt.  Plenty of salt.

Manny uses the green stick to knock the censer out of Nanciyaga's hands, smashing it to smithereens, and he screams:

¡A mí nadie va a echarme la sal, loca!
(No one is going to put a curse on me, crazy woman! Or literally, to throw salt at me, meaning to bring someone bad luck.)

Then he lunges at her and grabs her throat.  "I'm going to shut that bad-luck mouth of yours forever."  He pushes her down on the couch, his hands tight around her neck.  "Die!" he says again and again.  Suddenly he releases her.  His right hand flies to the scar on his left arm, which, unaccountably, feels as if it is on fire.  "What did you throw at me that burns?" he asks, bewildered.

Nanciyaga is on her feet, machete in hand.  "It's the good that works as poison against evil, hombre de mal entraña!"   As Manny recoils and holds his boo boo, Nanciyaga promises he will face something more terrible than he can imagine.

Les Oliviers, where the guests frequently meet with near-death experiences...

Jorge and Rebeca hear Martín as he tries to revive Virginia, and they rush in from the hallway.  It's clear that Ginny is in urgent need of a doctor and they will have to get her back to Mexico.  While Jorge is trying to phone Emiliano, Marty tells Rebeca that he was on the verge of unmasking Ginny when she fainted.  Though it is none of Rebeca's beeswax, he explains his suspicions that Virginia was involved not only in Vero's death, but also in Mati's.

A close call

While Aarón's back is turned, Arturo leads Verónica into a room in the vecindad.  Chelas notices.  He watches from an upstairs landing and gleefully concludes that Arturo is cheating on Blanca. (He calls him a rompecorazones, a heart breaker.)  Although Aarón glances at Arturo and Vero, he fails to recognize his daughter, who is dressed like a street urchin and whose face is turned away from him.

Sometimes a yenta does you a favor

The Goat family has gathered around the table in Blanquita's room to chat when a knock sounds at the door.  It is Chelas, who announces nastily that Arturo is entertaining a girl in his room.

Indeed, Arturo has helped Verónica into his bed and when Blanca appears at the door, he is leaning over her, settling her in.  Blanca's first impulse is to turn away.  Oh no!  Is this going to be the Little Dummy Redux?  Wait – this is spunky Blanca we're talking about, the one with a spine and a brain.  "Who is that woman, Arturo?" she asks resolutely.  When Arturo turns around to answer her, Blanca can see for herself. "Verónica!" she whispers.  Then she runs out of the room.

Have you seen this man?

Martín orders Aarón's photo posted all around the city, with a reward to be offered for information leading to his capture.

How did we get back to the Prado Castelo mansion?

Astral transport?  Helicopter?  Who knows?  But we're back in Jorge's study and he's asking Marty about what he said to Rebeca back in the hotel.  Marty says he's been thinking and he's starting to put things together: Mati's sudden accident that later led to her death; the email sent to Cepeda from Vero's computer; the gold robbery.  Vero had a feeling that Ginny was behind Mati's death; and besides, Mati had told Vero that Ginny tried to kill her earlier.  On the night she died, Vero was supposed to receive information about the murderer.  At the same time, Marty learned that Manuel Sánchez Álvarez was involved in the gold robbery.

Whoa.  Listen to those hamster wheels spinning...

"And then someone stole a check from my office," says Jorge pensively.  "A little later, someone tried to kill us in Mina Perdida – and Virginia made up an excuse not to go with us.  And then I found out that she went out after Emiliano and I did."

Marty is sure all these facts are related. He wasn't thinking clearly before because of the shock of Vero's death, but now he has a plan.  He and Jorge need to act as if they know nothing while they are busy collecting all the evidence they need.   Jorge agrees.  And from now on, caution is the watchword.  (Which means no more blurted accusations, guys!)

You're not gonna believe it!

Blanquita returns to her family and announces that there is a woman in Arturo's room.  And believe it or not, it's Verónica San Telmo!  It's caras de impactada all around!

La Gran Manzana

Pablo removes the hand of the insufferable Mariana from his face and promises her an unforgettable surprise at the gallery opening that night.

But why is she yellow?

The Goat family stares at Verónica and she stares back.  Only the recapper dares ask why she has suddenly turned a burnished coppery color.

Marty has a moment

He sees Verónica in the face of a stranger on the street:
¡Qué extraño!  De repente sentí como si Verónica estuviera viva.
(How strange!  All of a sudden I felt as if Veronica were alive.)

So Verónica really did believe dastardly Daniel!

Vero repeats all the lies Daniel taught her – the fake name, the drug habit, her isolation and utter worthlessness.  The Goat family contradicts her, singing her virtues.  She says she remembers nothing.  "Not even Martín San Telmo?" pipes up Polo.  The question puts her in a panic and she begs them not to tell that man where she is.

Salma faces the music

The doctor has seen Virginia and now reports to Jorge and Salma that she is stable (well, that's a lie), but if she doesn't take care of herself, she'll be in big trouble and may need emergency surgery.

When the doctor leaves, Jorge tells Salma that it's time for them to talk: what did Salma mean when she told him to be careful of Virginia?  Salma says she'll tell him everything...

Botel broods

At the Medical Ce_ter, Botel continues to reject all Magdalena's efforts to help him.  He is bitter and depressed.  He says he doesn't have the strength to face what lies ahead of him.

Salma's confession

"Desperation led me to make some very serious mistakes.  You never lived in squalor.  You didn't watch your mother dying a slow death without being able to help her... And my little baby was almost condemned to die in that misery because I couldn't support her, and I couldn't leave my mother alone...so..."

"So you sold her," says Jorge.  Salma nods tearfully.  She used the money in a futile attempt to save her mother.  "I was wrong," she says softly.  She never told him before because she was too ashamed.

After her mother died, she recreated herself as a woman of the world, all in hopes of recovering her daughter.  That was how she met Jorge.  It was the opportunity she was looking for...

"Deceiving me," Jorge says.

"Because I loved you," Salma says.  "I have always loved you."

Mariana continues to smile more than a normal person ought to smile.

Pablo swears to Mariana that his surprise is going to make her very happy and that –
Te voy a probar que soy el hombre que se merece la mujer que ama.
(I'm going to prove to you that I am the man who deserves the woman he loves.)

[Mariana, have you no irony detectors at all?  Didn't your mama teach you anything?]

Was I really like that?

Verónica is calmer now.  The Goat family has told her all about herself – her life and her supposed death and burial.  But when they start to talk about Martín, Vero goes into a panic again.  Ana Perla says someone must have fed those lies to Vero.  "Someone who wanted to hurt her," adds Raymunda.

Virginia is a crook

Jorge tells Salma that Virginia has committed criminal acts.  Salma no puede ser's him.  Then she admits that Virginia talked to her about Mati's accident.  "Did she have something to do with that?" he asks pointedly.  Salma's lip trembles.  "Yes," she murmurs almost inaudibly. [Thanks, Mauricio!]

The impatient outpatient

Virginia curses into the phone.  She told Daniel to kill Vero that first night.  Did he listen to her?  Nooooooooo!!!  When she recovers her memory, they'll be screwed!  Daniel says that will take a while, given the severe head trauma she suffered.  Virginia says through gritted teeth:  "We have to find her and kill her."

Do we tell him or not?

Joaquín doesn't like the idea of withholding the truth from Marty.   The women, however, feel they should give Vero a few days.

Arturo would like to chat with Blanca's parents, but it will have to be on another occasion because right now Joaquín and Raymunda have an appointment with a notario.  Martín is meeting them there and they don't want to keep him waiting.

Another N-less Hospital Scene

Botel greets Marty with hostility and despair.  When Magdalena appears with a wheelchair, Botel explodes in anger: "Get that damn chair out of here!  Out of my sight!  Both of you – get out!"

Save your spit!

Salma is upset that Virginia is not following the doctor's orders.  She's really worried about her.  Virginia tells her not to bother. "YOU SOLD ME TO YOUR COUSIN!  You abandoned me!  And then you left with Nicolás and abandoned me again!"

Salma takes it all on the chin. But when Ginny calls her a cualquiera perdida (a vulgar whore), Salma gives her the slap she deserves.

¡Reniego de ser tu hija! hisses Virginia.  (I refuse to be your daughter/I renounce being...)

Salma retorts that she may have made a lot of mistakes, but the worst one was raising Ginny to talk to her like that.  Whatever Virginia may say, Salma is going to do anything she can to help her.  Ginny shouts at her to GET OUT – out of her room and out of her life!  Salma says she won't stand by and allow Virginia to destroy herself.

Salma has already left the room when Virginia launches another LÁRGATE that, alas, lands on the poor maid, who has only come to tell Ginny that she has a visitor.

If the kid can do it...

Instead of giving Botel a little time and space to grieve and adjust to what he has lost, Marty and Magdalena bring in some poor kid in a wheelchair to demonstrate the correct way to deal with paraplegia.  He reacts, once again, with rage.

Ladrón que roba al ladrón

Chelas searches through Aarón's stash and finds the envelope of cash he has squirreled away.  He takes the money and hides it in a crack in the wall.

Where there's a will, there's a way...

...to divide the Old Goat's worldly goods as he wished.  In the office of the notary, Martín reads the provisions of the will to Raymunda and Joaquín:

  • Half of the estate goes to Ana Perla and her husband.
  • Joaquín and Raymunda do, in fact, own their house.
  • The Old Goat's house is in Ana Perla's name.

He forgot the sleeves but remembered the stick

Manny has come calling on Virginia.  He greets her with a big kiss, which Jorge has the misfortune to witness.

Virginia makes the introductions.  Jorge remembers what Marty said about Manuel being involved in the gold theft.  Remarkably, he does not blurt out an accusation and thus put Manny on red alert.  He does express mild surprise that Virginia and Manny are personally involved with one another.

In the village known as Mexico City

Blanquita, Polo and Ana Perla are taking Vero to the nursing school in the hopes of finding a doctor who can help her.  When the cousins mention Mina Escondida, Vero rubs her arm but can't say why.

Why is Marty walking down this precise street in this giant city?  Who knows?  Let's just go with the flow.

Now if Martín hadn't been looking down at his phone, he would have seen Vero right away.  As it happens, the gang sees him first and Vero has time to duck behind a big tree.

What, again?

How many times do we have to hear the increasingly irritating Rebeca tell someone of her designs on Marty?  This time, she confides in her assistant.

She's gone!

Marty chats for a few moments with the Mina Escondida gang.  When he walks away, they realize that Verónica has disappeared.  Oy.

Now THIS is what you call motivation!

Aarón, still in his surgical scrubs, pushes into Botel's room.  He says he came to enjoy his own work and see Botel's suffering.  "What does it feel like to be half a man?"  And Botel doesn't have to worry about Maggie because Aarón is going to get rid of her!

"I won't allow it!"

"There's nothing you can do about it.  I just wanted you to know."  With those words, Aarón covers his mouth with a surgical mask and leaves the room.

Finally, Botel has a reason to fight!  Cursing Aarón, he struggles to move from the bed into the wheelchair...

When Aarón leaves the Medical Ce_ter, he spots his photograph on a huge billboard.  He knows it's Martín's work and vows to make him pay.

A hang-up

Irritating Rebeca has phoned Martín to talk about moving up the date of the jewelry show.  Suddenly Verónica walks right past him.  "I think I just saw Verónica," he says, stunned and uncomprehending.  Rebeca tells him that's impossible – she's dead.

Wisely, Marty ends the call – Me colgó, says Rebeca, who is clearly not used to men hanging up on her – and tries to catch up with the fleeing phantom.  Vero knows he is following her and she starts to run.

We see Aarón limping along the street.

Vero seems to have eluded Marty and now has slowed her pace.

Blanca, Ana Perla and Polo continue searching for Vero.

Aarón spots Marty walking toward him.  "I've got you now, you bastard," he thought-bubbles.  He pulls out his gun and begins to pursue him.

Blanca, Ana Perla and Polo finally catch up with Verónica.  Although they assure her that Marty would never hurt her, they hide her behind a van when they see Marty approaching.  They watch him pass by; then they see the ungainly lope of his pursuer.  Do they see his gun?

Oh no!  Aarón has captured his prey.  He sticks the gun in Marty's back and tells him not to open his mouth.  It was Marty who put a price on his head, wasn't it?  Aarón forces him to walk.

Rebeca is still droning on about Marty's obsession with his dead wife.  She loves a challenge.  She's going to help Martín and he is going to be so happy...

...But not just yet

Aarón pushes Marty against a wall and holds the gun to the back of his neck.  "Don't think I've forgotten that you're the one who put me in prison!"

Only five episodes left – but who's counting, right?

Great recap of a disappointing episode! 5 episodes left and our heroine still has amnesia, somehow Aaron is able to walk around and now he has Marty in his clutches! Must admit that the avances didn't do anything to cheer me up. It looks like someone else dies bec we see Emi, Ginny and Jorge sitting together at a funeral. If those 3 are there it has to be one of the good guys or maybe Salma.

Wow, this was fantastic NovelaMaven! Thank you. I loved the title. I felt the same way about how everyone ran into each other in such a big city with so many people. Yeah, what was Marty doing there anyway? And how did Aaron locate him so fast? Don't get me started on his surgeon scrubs. Halloween has come early for him.

I was disappointed that Veronica did believe in the lies that Daniel fed her. I was hoping that she hadn't since she didn't seem too convinced. Oh well. Hopefully, she'll recover her memories by tonight and we can move on from this.

I think Salma did confirm that Virginia had been involved in Mati's death. She muttered a "yes" I believe. It's too late to save Virginia's soul. Salma should have done that a long time ago instead of blindly defending her all the time.

I loved how Nanci told Manny that his end is near. I feared for her a life for a moment there but was glad that she was able to get the upper hand.

Manny is such a dummy. He must have not realized that of course there would have to be another copy of the will. I was glad that Raymunda and Joaquin were able to get their hands on it.

So now Aaron is at the top of Mexico's Most Wanted. Okay. And now he has Marty trapped. Will this be the end of Aaron? Will Marty do him in self defense? We'll have to stay tuned.

Terrific recap, NovelaMaven, as always!

I have never watched the show and don't plan on watching the end.
I simply skim for the Spanish idioms. Now, I have a new one to learn,
A mí, nadie va a echarme la sal! Love it! All of my friends (or enemies) will be forewarned.)

All the best!

Thanks, Carvivlie! I was also hoping we'd be past the amnesia bit by now. Oh well.

I have no idea what is going to happen tonight (and I don't want to know), but in these kinds of melodramas, we know it gets very dicey at this point. We also know that the arch villains manage to hold on until the bitter end. At least some people KNOW for sure that Vero is alive and Marty BELIEVES that Vero is alive, though he may doubt his perception if it isn't confirmed very soon. That means adios to emotionally tone-deaf Rebeca, right? That's worth cheering about.

Thank you, Mauricio!

So Salma confirmed that Virginia was involved in Mati's death? Thanks for pointing that out – I'll have to change that in the recap.

"I loved how Nanci told Manny that his end is near. I feared for her a life for a moment there but was glad that she was able to get the upper hand."

Ooh, me too. I admit I loved the whole scene. It was just the kind of kitschy over-the-topness I expect in a Mejía novela. I was a bit worried too, but on the whole, I trusted Nanciyaga's resourcefulness, strength and magical powers. And now we KNOW that Manny's fate is sealed, right?

Yes, now we do know that his fate is sealed. He has condemned himself and his end will be terrible according to Nanci, who has been right in the past.

Floridia,

What fun to see you on this side of the tracks! I'm immensely flattered that you bothered to take a look at the recap even though you aren't following the show.

yes, that "echarle sal a alguien" idiom is interesting. There's a related phrase In the next line that I translated very freely as "your bad-luck mouth." What he says in Spanish is "tu boca salada," literally, your salty mouth, but in this context, your mouth that always augurs ill or brings bad luck.

NovelaMaven- I've decided to join you all in watching this last week of the tn. Why not?! It only enhanced my enjoyment of your stellar recap. Thank you.

So, Amnesiac Vero escapes from a doctor that gave her a very bad vibe, fed her lies for like 1 day and a half, then she meets a whole passel of nice people (including a kid) who tell her it was all a lie, and she STILL chooses to believe creepy doc's tale? Is she also brain damaged?

Looking forward to see what Pablo has in store for Marianna. It must be public humiliation of some sort.

I have been in Mexico City a few times over the years. I was shaking my head in wonder at how all these people could be serendipitously running into each other on the same block. The magic of tns. I'm just glad it was Marty Aaron nabbed and not Vero. She'd probably look at his scrubs and believe every word he says.

And since we're in Word Nerd territory and as usual, nobody's really paying attention, let me add that I loved adding ROMPECORAZONES (heartbreaker) to my collection of compound nouns formed from a verb stem (rompe-) plus a noun (corazones), that is, VERB-NOUNS, in contrast to the English NOUN-VERBS.

I was curious about other rompe- compounds. I already knew 'rompecabeza,' literally a head-breaker, but used to mean a jigsaw puzzle. I found a few others in the dictionary, including a couple that are too vulgar to list here. :)

rompehielos: icebreaker
rompehuelgas: strikebreaker
rompenueces: nutcrackers
rompeolas: breakwater

Oh Vivi, what fun that you've decided to join us for the final stretch!

Actually Vero has suffered head injuries more than once, poor thing, so believing the lies isn't so much a choice for her as an unfortunate consequence of her vulnerable state.

yes, I'm also thinking Pablo is planning some sort of public humiliation for Mariana.

"I'm just glad it was Marty Aaron nabbed and not Vero. She'd probably look at his scrubs and believe every word he says."

hee hee. You're right.

Thank you, NovelaMaven, for a fantastic recap, along with grammar tips! The title was perfect! And yes, amazing how small Mexico City can be...lol.

Loved reading all the comments as well.

I have to say that I think it was really, really wrong of the cousins, et cetera, not to inform Martín about Verónica being alive as soon as they could. I believe that if all of them banned together, they are more than capable of protecting Vero from running away. Even Blanca's extraordinary brain cells aren't working here. If I were in a similar situation and people who care about me withheld the fact that my supposed dead spouse is indeed alive, I would be furious.

I too was disappointed that Vero is now believing Dr. D's lies, given that she ran away from him and appeared to not trust him! Doesn't make sense.

Looking forward to Pablo's surprise for Mariana. Public humiliation would be very fitting.

Loved the scene with Nanci. Her prediction of a terrible end for Manny is something I can't wait to see happen.

I'm worried about Marty. I hope it's not his funeral we're seeing in the avanzas.

Be gone, Rebeca. She's really on my nerves now.

"I'm worried about Marty. I hope it's not his funeral we're seeing in the avanzas."

Oh no, Mari! I'm going to stick my fingers in my ears so I can't hear you!!! :-)

You're so right about the obligation to tell Martín. But the poor Goat family hasn't made a whole lot of good choices up to now, has it? Joaquín was really pushing to tell Marty, but he got drowned out by the others.

Yes, indeed. Rebeca begone! (You don't suppose she really will be used as a sacrifice if one of Vero's cockamamie enemies knocks off the wrong young woman with long, dark hair? Ugh.)

NovelaMaven - Forget I even said that. Martín has to be on team take-them-all-down and come out victorious!

Yes, Joaquín, did try but he was defeated by the ladies. Our sassy little Polo just looked bewildered, and who can blame him!

Hmm...that's a thought about Rebeca. While the woman is completely irritating at this point, she doesn't deserve that....yet.

NovelaMaven---I started to laugh the minute that I read your great title. My wife sitting nearby said "I guess that the recap is up."

So many great lines as usual.---Walk softly but carry a big machete.

The Little Dummy Redux?---Wait, this is spunky Blanca we're talking about.

Astral transport---hamster wheels spinning---let's go with the flow

Mariana continues to smile more than a normal person ought to smile.

We're coming down the stretch and NM you are helping to make it an EXCELLENT stretch run.

Floridia---Too bad you have missed this excellent novela. It's been a blast.

Manny should know better than to mess with Nanciyaga. He should have had a talk with Carlos before he tried a stunt like that. Carlos would have set him straight on the wiles of Jungle Woman Nanci. I'm surprised that Manny didn't know any better.

The previews did go by fast but it does appear that there is at least one more death
Well we know through Nanci that Manny will be going to the great beyond soon, but beyond Manny? Guesses are free. Salma, Botel?

must see tv
the gringo

Thanks so much, gringo!

"Manny should know better than to mess with Nanciyaga."

So true. And yet when has Manny ever known better? He is the one character that has consistently done the wrong thing from the first moment we met him. He really is the man with the evil insides (mala entraña).

(The world would be a better place if people listened to Nanciyaga more... well, except when she's crushing on someone like Marty. Then she's not so reliable.) LOL

Wow...as I watched this through bleary, reddened eyes (I have a veritable monster of a cold. The dang thing should have a special category...but I digress...)I thought, watching Nanciyaga prance around, "NovelaMaven must be really loving this over-the-top ridiculous scene." Actually I hope the actress was enjoying it too. Sooo absurd. But fun.

Your headings were even more fun. Loved 'em all, but my faves were

Chelas reminds Aaron that it's polite to share

Los Oliviers where the guests frequently meet with near death experiences

and

Marianna continues to smile more than a normal person ought to smile

Perhaps it is simply a grimace, resulting from being squeezed into another 3 sizes too small outfit. Surprised she can even breathe.

This continues to be a mind-boggling romp. But as long as we keep learning Spanish, it's all good.

Thanks for your wit, your translations of interesting idioms and your God-given ability to once more spin dross into comic gold...

Aaaaa-choooo!

I hope Rebecca doesn't go crazy when she finds out Vero is alive and try to kill her.

Thanks NovelaMaven for the fantastic recap.

This episode was so annoying that the cousins were hiding Vero from Martin. I was so annoyed with Joaquin because he saw how Martin was grieving at the grave and mine! What kind of silliness is that? On top of all what Martin has done to help their family. Arrghhh!

Vero I don't understand why she would think Martin would do her harm especially since she doesn't trust the doctor. If she doesn't trust the doctor then she not believe Martin will harm her.

The ending was annoying. Why couldn't Martin run faster? So Ana P, Vero, Blanquita and Polo didn't see Aaron with the gun?!

God bless you, JudyB!

What if we create a new category of monster cold? un resfriadazo, say, or un resfriadón? A nose by any other name would still be miserable. Don't be like Virginia – take care of yourself!

How embarrassing that you know my foibles so well. :-)

¡Abrazos con sopa de pollo!

Oh Carvivlie,
Your imagination is leading you to some dark places today!!! Rebeca a crazed killer? Yikes.

You are welcome, Duchess!

I agree there was a lot of aggravating stuff in this one.

"On top of all what Martin has done to help their family. Arrghhh!"

Yup, exactly.

I'm still giving Vero a pass on her behavior. She is hurt and drugged and really doesn't know what she's doing. I love the way Ana Brenda is playing it, though. You can really see the person underneath struggling to emerge.

Hmmmm...I like "resfriadazo". Sure feels like one. My sister, who lives in DC, says three/fourths of the citizens there have it. But it's known as "the Ick" in those environs. Resfriadazo has more class, I think. Her alternative care person recommended a vegetable-garlicky sopa that sounded so vile, I think I'm going to rely on Christian Science instead. But hey, whatever works!

Goodness...Rebecca is annoying but I don't see her as a potential assassin. Still, with this director, anything is possible. Let the games begin!

Yes, agree Ana Brenda is doing a great job. I don't blame Vero for her confusion. I'm just wanting the warrioress to emerge and do some major damage:)

I completely agree. Our earthly goddess was hurt and then given powerful drugs. It's amazing that she still had enough of her senses left to even be able to get away. She's been through a lot.

So Manny is going to die a terrible death. We see him or we think that it's him on Ana Perla's lap after he has been stabbed. Is he going to get more that this? I'm staying tuned.

So there is a wake for someone and everyone's favorite viper is there. Will she be shedding fake tears again? She knows how to turn on the waterworks.

the gringo

I agree Ana Brenda is doing a great job.

I forgot to add, why didn't Martin answer Virginia's phone? He could have easily done that to confirm.

Sorry, JudyB. I forgot you don't eat sopa de pollo. My goodness, that complicates the standard resfriadazo treatment, doesn't it? Christian Science it is, then!

Good point, Duchess. Marty could have taken Aarón's call, though I suppose Aarón would have hung up when someone other than Ginny answered.

So then, gringo and mari, we are in agreement – the warrior goddess is not to be blamed! :-) And yes, let's bring on the warrior!

NovelaMaven, thanks for the grammar lesson on "rompe".

Vivi, that's great that you will be joining us for the final week of this novela.

JudyB, I'm sorry to hear that you have a bad cold. Hope you feel better soon.

Duchess, good point. He could have just answered the phone.

I also agree that Ana Brenda is doing a great job.

The ones to blame are the monkey writers. :)

NovelaMaven, I love your recaps, they read just like a book! I'm at work and I'm instantly transported to the world of Mina Escondida and a pueblo sized Mexico City. Thank you!

I haven't been a fan of Nancy but I was so happy to see her tell off Manny and fight him back. I can't stand seeing characters like Magdalena just go limp when they are being attacked by a POS. When Aaron attacked Magda recently I was screaming for her to run to the kitchen and grab a knife. And when he grabbed her I was begging for her to give him a good kick! So it was a pleasure watching Nancy hurt Manny.

I was also frustrated that Vero believed the lies but I also agree that she gets a pass because she's hurt, scared and confused.

Looking forward to tonight!

NovelaMaven: I'm just trying to figure out what happens to Rebeca when Vero is found by Marty. I guess I don't see her just easily stepping aside with no one waiting in the wings for her. If Emi was interested then I could see her turning to him but he seems to be ending up with Claudia, instead of Nanci.

Wow, Lily, what a lovely thing to say! Thank you!

"I can't stand seeing characters like Magdalena just go limp when they are being attacked by a POS."

Amen! One thing you have to say about Nanciyaga – the woman knows how to defend herself.

Carvivlie, I think that's an interesting question about Rebeca. It will be fun to see what the monkeys come up with for them.

As for Emi and Claudia, I'm not really feeling it. They both seem to be settling; and in telenovelas, people don't settle... or do they?

NovelaMaven,

Thanks for the extra rompe vocab. I can think of at least one other that would be
unmentionable.

Hi, to Gringo, my ally from Amores verdaderos -- standing firmly by Cristina.

You probably know that EY is in a US film with FC. I plan to see it.

I have been watching a riveting TN on Telemundo, Bajo el mismo cielo.
NovelaMaven writes occasional recaps.

All the best to all,

To be fair, I think that the cousins were taking Vero to a doctor to be checked, Martin had just visited Botel, as had Aaron. So that's why they were all at The Only Medical Ce_ter in Mexico City. However, the chase scene was a farce and had me shaking my head. It was classic Mejia, wasn't it?

I was really upset about the Goat gals' decision to hide Vero's reappearance from Martin. That is just plain wrong.

I also wanted Martin to just answer Ginny's phone. Or when she passed out, to grab it and check the missed calls, and while he was at it, peruse the photos. There are a few there that he would find rather interesting. Oh well, I guess even superhero galans miss the boat every now and then.

BTW, it was due to Superhero Martin that the copy of the Old Goat's will was located. They had asked him to help, and that would be why he was there with Joaquin and Raymunda.

Is the incriminating photo that Mati stashed behind the virgincita ever going to be found? Don't they ever dust in that mansion?

NM, you outdid yourself with this one. So many funny bits and a delight to read. Thank you!

Loved the recap, Novela Maven! Excellent rundown of some improbable action.
I think the scene with Manny and Nanci was my favorite. She played the avenging angel quite convincingly. Looking forward to seeing Manny suffer excruciating torment.
Liked the way you questioned V snake being stable. I promise that she wouldn't be wearing another version of a silly little red cape if she were stable.

"To be fair, I think that the cousins were taking Vero to a doctor to be checked, Martin had just visited Botel, as had Aaron. So that's why they were all at The Only Medical Ce_ter in Mexico City."

You could be right about that, Carolina. Marty had indeed just visited Botel, but I thought I heard Ana Perla say they were taking Vero to Blanca's nursing school because there were doctors there who could help her. I also thought we saw the school itself a few times and it was not TOMCIMC. In fact, it looked like the same location used in Telemundo's Los Miserables – a real, old-school kind of DF hospital that is no longer being used as such.

The fact is you and I have probably just given this far more thought than the monkey writers ever did. :-)

"BTW, it was due to Superhero Martin that the copy of the Old Goat's will was located. They had asked him to help, and that would be why he was there with Joaquin and Raymunda."

yes, exactly! I remember thinking at the time that they had a lot of nerve asking Marty for favors. Now that I think of it, it was only when Marty felt NEEDED that he became somewhat functional and was no longer sunk in a catatonic pit of grief.

The same point is being made about Botel – he is deaf to all those entreaties to be brave, but when Magdalena needs him, he makes a Herculean effort to get out of bed and into that despised wheelchair.

That's not bad psychology, monkey writers! Have an extra banana! The Patio is buying.

"Looking forward to seeing Manny suffer excruciating torment."

Aren't we all, La Paloma?

"Liked the way you questioned V snake being stable. I promise that she wouldn't be wearing another version of a silly little red cape if she were stable."

Yes, that's probably true. I kept the the fashion police out of the recap this time, but I'm glad you invited them back in. And I'm glad you liked the recap!

NovelaMaven,
Thanks for the marvelous recap. Excellent as always. I too am sick of this ridiculous last minute amnesia bit. Please monkey writers, give Vero her memory back. We only have 5 episodes left. I haven't gotten to all the comments yet, so not sure if this was mentioned, but it would be lame to wait until the last episode for Vero to get her memory back.

Mauricio,
I had not formally thanked you for Fridays recap. I did read and love it. I just ran out of time this weekend. But please know that I thoroughly enjoyed every word and appreciate your hard work.

Hasta Pronto

I am so waiting for Manny's downfall/anvil. Is it possible that it isn't Manny lying wounded on Ana Perla's lap from a knife wound? The scene goes by so fast and we never get a really good look at the face of the victim. Could it possibly be Julio? Nanci isn't often wrong and if Manny is going to go through great suffering that should mean more than a stabbing right?

NovellaMaven, this a captivating recap. And
A bit funny.
"Was manuel making smoores in his indoor fire Pit"?
And then nanci girl comes in dancing and foggin Up the place and aggrevating, the annoying Manny.
"Its what goes around, that comes around" for salms. Remember when she called magda a Whore. What came out of her daughters mouth? And its wores for her, her own kid Threw it back in her face. The way she said Veronica was her, her kid is and wores.
"Decieving me, jorge says.
"Because I loved you, I have always loved you, say salma". So she lied to him because she loved him. ok then, we're all set. NO!!!

[Mariana do you have no irony detectors at all], "didn't your momma teach you anything?" apparently monts didn't teach her anything except that "baby you are number one nobody else but you", which is why she can only see herself and what she wants. that's why she can't see what's coming. A big surprise!!!!!
Its wonferfull that jorge Is now using his 4
Brain cells. Now everything is becoming clear to him. but his daughter had to die for that to happen, because he doesn't know that she's not dead but in his mind she's dead and now his brain cells have awakened. Yaaaaay!!!!
Now that the will has been read it seems that ana perla Is going to get everything. yes she has half now but after manny is dead she's going to get everything. And share with the rest of the family. okay that's all for now I gotta recharge my phone.
and that wasn't a spoiler thing about Manny being dead y'all know he going to die it's already been spoken by smoky Nancy herself.
great recap Novela!!! :-D

Didn't Manny being injured at Pablo's hand, and AP finding her injured brother already happen? Why is the opening credits shot still being questioned. Clearly, he wouldn't die at Pablo's hand anyway. Only ever saw one tn where a galan killed one of the villains (Cuando Me Enamoro).

Thanks for another wonderful recap, NovelaMaven. Your writing is always so precise and informative and yet full of the warmth and lovable personality that is so recognizably NovelaMaven.

I for one am not looking forward to Pablo's revenge. He should look inward since he is at least as culpable for his Mariana problem as Mariana herself. Why is he even still involved with her? He doesn't want her but he is more than happy to prosper from the benefits that she offers.

Loved, loved, loved Nanciyaga's home invasion. As much fondness as I have for Virginia, Nanci has always managed win my admiration. While her obsession with Martín was unfortunate, her strength, honesty, and independence are feminine traits we could stand to see more of in these TNs. What a genuinely unique and refreshing character.

So why is Rebeca even here? Is there even time enough left for her to have any significant impact?

Carlos

NovelaMaven brilliant recap. Funny and informative. My favorite kind!

Thanks to all of the recappers-- another week of not catching up on watching or reading till the weekend and it seemed too late to comment by then. I cannot tell you how much more enjoyable TNs are because of the amazingly talented recappers on this site. BRAVO AND BRAVA!

Re this story, I fall on the side of those annoyed with the primas for hiding the truth. You don't gid that from the husband! Especially a husband with the resources and brains to get her the best medical help in the city, who would presumably be able to convince her that she wasn't a druggy! I didn't know how Ray and Joaq could look at Marty helping them with the will knowing what they did about Vero.

My dvr cut out before I saw Aaron catch up with Marty so that was a surprise to me. I can't imagine it would be his funeral-- but then I can't imagine who's it would be. I WISH it would Manny's and I think (as these things often do) he should end up trapped in a fire-- even better how about trapped in a fire that he set?! That would be satisfying, no?

I don't know how they are going to tie it all up in a bow by weeks end, but I know they will and I will be enjoying the ride with you folks!
Thanks again,
Rebecca (not the manhunter Marty loving loca one of course)

Vivi, I think we are all so excited at the thought of Manny's demise that we are looking for hints everywhere and forgetting what has already happened. Thanks for the reminder!

AuntyAnn,
I'm so glad you had a chance to stop by today. Thank you for the kind words. Vero not getting her memory back until the last episode? Noooooooooooo! Ok, wait... would she get to wear nice clothes again before that and lose the bandage on her head? I could live with that...

Hi nina,
So glad you liked the recap today. I had forgotten about the way Salma treated Magdalena – she has really set herself up for telenovela payback, hasn't she?

I admit I've also thought ahead to what happens to the Goat estate when Manny kicks the bucket. Maybe Virginia will be his widow and the Goat family will have to share everything with her. :-)

Carlos,
Thank you for the lovely comment.
"Why is he [Pablo] even still involved with her?"
While this is not Pablo's finest moment, Mariana is such a stalker. Besides, she admitted that she is only trying to win him back for the pleasure of dumping him.

I'm delighted that you shared my enthusiasm for Nanciyaga's 'home invasion' last night.

"So why is Rebeca even here?"
This is surely a thankless role for the actress. The audience resents her and she probably feels like a bit of an outsider in the cast. Does she fade away gracefully? Does she become a victim because of a superficial resemblance to Verónica? Does she go bonkers, as someone suggested above, when she learns that Vero is alive? All bets are off!

Great Recap NovelaMaven! The Impatient OutPatient made me giggle out loud. Salma finally found motherhood but I fear it may be too late for our Dear(no) Ginny.

Rebecca Rebecca Rebecca... I could have forgiven you for going after Marty at least a year (as general cultural mourning habits go) after his wife died in a tragic accident. You're a beautiful, worldly gal but this behavior is just "corriente" (cheap and low class although the literal word means "stream" as in a river or "power" as found streaming through a cable) and so you shall remain dead to me until this TN is over. FIN.

My dear Rebecca (not the manhunter Marty loving loca one of course),

Thank you so much for your generous words.

"I didn't know how Ray and Joaq could look at Marty helping them with the will knowing what they did about Vero."

Yes, great point! Even the primas had the grace to look embarrassed and uncomfortable when they met Marty in the street. (But that might have been because they knew Vero was right there, hiding behind that big tree.)

The episode started 4 or 5 minutes after the hour and then ran about 7 minutes into the next show. It's a real challenge to record these things sometimes, isn't it?

JackieV,

hahahaha! Okay, you cracked me up with that. Now we're even. BTW, I think Rebeca justs wants to get a jump on the competition. You know – you snooze, you lose. She sees Miss Universe Emerita out there pretending to settle for Emi...

"Maybe Virginia will be his widow and the goat family can share everything with the her."
O hell to the NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! LOL :-D:-D
