In general blog news...

While we will continue to monitor for new cases of plagiarism, we have cleared up the backlog of cases.  My thanks go out to Sara, Anita, La Paloma, cathyx, Julie, Mr. 5ft, and everyone who offered their support in this effort.  We were able to have over 4000 copies of our recaps removed from websites, blogs, and Facebook pages.

Project Gimme Back My Feeds returns!  This weekend, we updated the feeds for:

I'll continue working my way back through the archives in reverse chronological order and adding a few more of the new feeds each week...but I'm happy to take suggestions for anything that you'd like to see updated sooner.

Pages were added to the mobile site to serve as a navigation menu, similar to the sidebar on the desktop site.

Contact me if you have any technical issues with the blog...broken links, something on the sidebar or the pages in mobile not working, etc.

I watched the first two capitulos of Celia On Demand last week. The first three caps have been available for preview. They filmed in Colombia to get the feel of Havana in the 50s. The costumes and locations are fantastic. The music is amazing. Two actresses are being used to portray Celia- young and old. Young Celia is played by Jeimy Osorio, whom many of us last saw as the sexy Jessica in Porque el Amor Manda. Nice to see her have more to do than just be sexy. The Caribbean Spanish accents are deep, and I found it hard to get my ear used to it and understand everything, but I also don't use captions, and I'm guessing that will help out many. But again, big draw is the MUSIC, and learning about the life of such a legendary entertainer.

Diva, Thank You so much for this amazing new feature, for the work on the feeds and the Hurculean effort to attack the plagarism and a million thanks, as well, to Sara, Anita, La Paloma, cathyx, Julie, Mr. 5ft

Thank you all SO MUCH!

Vivi, is that Uni On Demand? Hope not cause I can't get it! I'll check hulu+ Thanks!

Apparently Televisa's president announced today that going forward, all of their telenovelas will be no longer than 6 months. It's a noble gesture, but I feel like it'll get tossed the instant they get a major hit again.

Rain--That's very interesting about Televisa restricting the lengths.

1. Perhaps they finally got the *word* that viewers do not like fillers and extensions.
2. Perhaps they are looking at their bottom $$$$ line. Shorter is better; they have more control and predictability over scheduling.
3. Perhaps it's also difficult and expensive trying to keep a cast together for 7-8 months when the stars, writers and production crews are anxious to get on to a new project. (Have you ever tried to get a contractor back to fix something he did on your house when he's busy lining up the next job?) I'm thinking of Luz María Jerez who seems to be everywhere these days. (Don't get me wrong--I love her, from back in Refugio days down to YoNo)
4. Perhaps this will give them more opportunity to create some new novelas and not rely on remakes (the older ones, of course, were shorter).

Oh, and 5. Perhaps Televisa realizes they inhabit a totally different world--one with lots of viewer choices and competition and it's hard to keep viewers attention for that long (and we've learned to save/watch later/>>FF.

Lila- I have Comcast and it's On Demand under Latino/Telemundo. I'm guessing that Telemundo has the episodes on their website somewhere. Aha! Here they are: http://www.telemundo.com/novelas/celia/capitulos

Rain- Very interesting about Televisa saying that. Let's see if they actually stick with it. Anita listed some very good reasons for why they are making this change.

Vivi - I watched the first episode of Celia last week and I'm recording all the Celia specials on Telemundo. I will be giving it a try for sure. The first episode was really really good.

"Jane the Virgin" season 2 starts tonight. Should be good!

Vivi,
Your dedication to this site is so amazing !!! I am so grateful to you for all the hard work you put in to keeping us updated about everything 'Novelas' and what not'.
For example, my hubby who is Dominican is thrilled to no end that there will be a bio-novela of "Celia" starting tomorrow night.
I take it that Celia is the Latina Dolly Parton???
Thanks to you, after reading your update above, I immediately told him.

Thanks again.

@Jarifa
Glad to know i'm not the only one watching JtV. Premiere was so good!

I recorded Jane the Virgin, but will likely watch it later this week.

O/T Vivi, any idea where to watch the complete version of "Pasión de Gavilanes" ???

Victoria- I never saw that tn, so unfortunately I don't. Was it a good tn? I know Fuego en la Sangre and the recent Telemundo tn are all versions of this tale, correct? I've never seen any of them.

I just realized Pasion y Poder is starting soon, and Celia starts this week. It's an overload of tns I want to watch! There aren't enough hours in the week. Something (or two) of the current tns I watch may have to go (Muchacha Italiana perhaps), but I'm enjoying them all so much-- Yo No Creo; Lichita; and La Vecina.

Rain, no, you are not alone enjoying Jane. Glad to see you and Vivi are watching, also. Vivi, I do not know what I would do without my recorder and video on demand. Yes. the premiere was excellent. It is one of my favorite shows. I love the fast pace, the narrator and of course Rogelio. Good acting all around.

Vivi, I also am interested in Pasion y Poder but don't know where I am going to fit it in my general tv schedule. I am watching only one telenovela but I do a lot of viewing on Youtube, Netflix, network and cable. One telenovela eats up 5 one hour shows!!! The pain of too much to watch. I wonder how long the Celia series is because I would like to see that, too, but cannot commit myself to anything too long.

Thank you, Lila :D

Rain, that does sound like a decision that has the potential to improve quality. Assuming they care about improving quality and not just making bad shows shorter.

Jarifa, thanks for the reminder about JtV. Still haven't watched it, but at least I made sure the DVR was going to record it!

Wow! 6 months: 26X5=130 episodes. Tighter plots less useless subplots? I would love it. Thanks, Rain! We can only hope.

Beware- La Gata was 121 episodes of rambling, pointless crap. I think the secret is to keep Latoodle and Mejia away from any projects.

Who is Latoodle?

Nathalie Latrilleux (sp?) She produced Corazón Indomable and La Gata. She is Mejia's wife.

Okay, never saw LaGata but CI was not one of my faves. Thanks.

Vivi
Of all the versions, awhile back, a Caray commentator wrote that the Pdg version showed more pasion than any other version and, although long, was really worth watching.

I loved the chemistry between Danna Garcia and Mario Cimarro in "La Traición".

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find an uneditted version of PdG.

Vivi, again accept my thanks and awe for all you accomplish and do on our behalf for our beloved site.

And bye the way, I hated, just absolutely hated, CI and CdL. They have to be two of the absolutely worst novelas of all my time watching novelas.

In summary, stay away from all things Maite Perroni and Mejía.

I wouldn't go that far. Maite tries, bless her...it's Mejia and Lartilleux.

Maybe so, I did enjoy CCEA. But maybe William Levy could make any costar appealing.

This sounds like a hypothesis that needs rigorous scientific testing! Does The Levy Effect exist? :D

Diva or UA--We should make that a topic of a weekend discussion or the next issue of Que Nos Cuenta:

DOES THE LEVY EFFECT EXIST?
