Lo Nuevo
Eladio brings Julia breakfast in bed. He says he learned to cook when he was the food manager at the hotel. He hands her a rose and hopes that she sees how he is changing. He would also like her to accompany him today. Julia can't believe what she is hearing. It's like he's a different person. He says he's the same, he just realized that he has to pay more attention to the details, and he likes the change he's made. Julia is happy (But for how long?).
Erick goes to see Montse at her request. She says she has some confidential info on Eladio. She was on a photo shoot when she overheard a private phone call from Eladio. Erick wants to know more but Montse says she won't spill all the frijoles until he spends the entire night with her. He says he can't, so she tries to convince him by slobbering all over him. He says he doesn't want problems with his dad and says he can't do it. She kicks him out and says if he can't give her one night then to never come back.
Montage TIme
Dani and David (mostly Dani) dancing at a club in Cancun. Eladio and Julia making a donation at the children's shelter. Regina finding her car full of post-it notes. I think Joshua has too much time on his hands. Does he have a job? Consuelo and Miguel working on her modeling video. Franco and Gabriela kissing, but stopping just in time to not get caught by Eladio. Arturo starring at a picture of him and Julia back in the day. and finally Erick and Montse together in her apartment.
In Cancun we see Dani talking to some other dude on the beach. David comes and wants to know what's going on. Before the fist fight starts Dani shews the other dude away and has a talk with David. He is under the impression that they have "a thing". She pretty much laughs in his face and tells him that the Gomez Luna are only there to serve the Montenegro's. He can't believe what she is saying. She tells him that he doesn't have money and he's a bore. She tells him to look for her sister when he gets to Queretaro. After living the high life with her (Dani) maybe he can give some lessons to Regina. He asks her if that's what she really wants. She tells him that she would never be with the son of Eladio Gomez Luna, not even if she was crazy. David realizes that Dani was only with him to insult and molest his family. She says it's too bad because she really likes him in bed. He is pissed because he says that he was with her in bed and it doesn't seem to matter to her. He is not going to waste his time with her anymore and leaves. She calls him an idiot.
Erick arrives home early in the morning. Arturo wants to know where he's been. Erick tells him not to be upset. He didn't come home last night because he was doing an investigation. He tells his father that he has found a way to ruin Eladio Gomez Luna. It turns out that Eladio recently opened up a bar in one of his hotels and some of the paperwork is illegal. The bar will be shut down and the hotel could be in a lot of trouble too. Arturo is stunned and curious but with the slightest smirky look on his face. Erick says he got his info from a reliable source. All they have to do is find some evidence and press charges against Eladio. Arturo calls Augustin and puts the wheels in motion to bring down Eladio Gomez Luna. Arturo tells Erick that Eladio won't get away with this and urges his son to take a bath. Connie comes in and wants to know where Erick was. She was worried but didn't tell his parents because she didn't want to worry them. She wants to know why he didn't answer his cell. And she wants to know if there is another woman. He plays innocent and says he was working all night and if she doubts him to ask his father. He tells her to tell Petra to make him some hot and spicy chilaquiles. Miguel comes in and tells Erick not to speak to his wife like that. Erick says he will do with HIS wife as he pleases and to stay out of his business. Erick leaves and Miguel goes to comfort Connie.
David meets with Francisco and tells him what's up with Dani. She was only using him. Francisco tells him "I told you so". David now knows that Dani's an airhead. He's pissed because his ego was hurt. David plans to go back to Mexico, but not back home. He knows that something is not right at home. He knows his dad and he can't trust him. Can David please have a heart to heart with Julia?
Eladio has a private phone call with a lawyer about Caridad Herrera (Franco's mother). Eladio wants the expensive lawyer to fix things. Caridad Herrera can not get out of jail.
In Cancun Dani and her new friend named Johnny are at the beach. He's having a nice time giving her a butt massage. He suggest they go on his yacht. He asks about David. She tells him that she wasn't with David, but that David was dying to be with her. She just put him in his place for what his father did to hers.
Back in Mexico Eladio tells Franco that something is wrong because everytime a person searches the internet for a hotel in Mexico, only the Montenegro group pops up. But they have bigger problems after Franco receives a call. He tells his padrino that there is a problem at the Hotel Contessa. There are some inspectors there and they want to talk with Eladio. They are about to leave when Julia comes in with the news that David is coming back today. He's about to start having a fit, but stops himself and apologizes to Julia. He is happy that David is returning, but they do have a big problem at one of the hotels. Eladio suggest they have dinner with David and talk. Franco is not a happy camper and loudly stomps his hand down. Eladio wants to know what's up with Franco? Julia thinks that it does not please Franco that things are changing between Eladio and David. Franco says he does not have an opinion and that it's none of his business, and he reminds his padrino that they need to leave. Eladio kisses Julia on the cheek with the awkwardness of a 12 year old boy then leaves. Gabriela comes in asks her aunt Julia where Franco and Eladio were off to in such a hurry. She replies that there was an urgent problem at one of the hotels, but more importantly , Eladio still wants to make amends with David.
Erick and Arturo are talking about Eladio. Erick says that Eladio stands to loose a lot of money if they shut down the hotel. Arturo knows that Eladio is smart enough to squirm his way out of this mess. Erick almost gives away Montse's name when he talks about his source, but stops and changes the name to Moises. Arturo wants to know the truth about why Erick didn't come home last night. He says he was with the people that gave him the info on Gomez Luna. Arturo at least hopes that he let Consuelo know. He says she didn't take it well and thinks he has a lover. Arturo wants to know if he does, but Erick does not answer him and just says he was with some guys at a bar that gave him the info. Arturo is not too happy about the way he got the info and hopes he does not make it a habit.
Eladio and Franco arrive at the bar and the inspectors are shutting it down. The inspector says that their liquor license is in question, and if they find false documents the responsible party could go to jail. Eladio tries to reason with the inspector, but he is not budging. The bar is shut down. Eladio tells Franco to call a lawyer and they leave before they get locked in. Eladio gets a phone call from Arturo asking how it went with the inspectors. Eladio is enraged. Arturo claims he had nothing to do with it. He just heard some rumors at the Businessman's Association. He warns Eladio to be careful because his and Mariano Santos' names are in question with the association and he might get kicked out. Eladio says that will never happen. He wants to see Arturo's face when he (Eladio) becomes the president of that association. Arturo doubts that will happen. We'll see says Eladio. Erick walks into his fathers office to congratulate him on gaining the upper hand on Gomez Luna.
Regina, Connie and Miguel are talking in the garden. Regina and Miguel continue talking while Connie takes a phone call. Regina is leaving for Queretaro that afternoon. She will miss Miguel and Connie, but she is also tired of Joshua. She thought she was in love, but now realizes that she wasn't. She says she will not fall in love again. Miguel tells her it's more that she does not want to suffer again. Connie tells them the good news that she has been selected for a modeling job. They are both happy for her. Regina hopes that Erick doesn't get upset. Connie says he has no reason to be. Regina says that a woman doesn't have to give up her dreams and career just because she gets married. Connie says she owes it all to Miguel and thanks him with a sisterly hug.
Connie and Montse meet for lunch. Connie announces that she got a modeling job for Sexy Lace. Montse tells her that she had also tried out for that same job and Connie feels a little guilty. Montse tells her not to worry.

Dani and Johnny are on his yacht. He gives her a diamond necklace. She drowns the one David bought for her and Johnny puts the diamonds on her. They start making out.
Erick invites Montse to lunch. I guess she's having two lunches today. Anyway, Erick wants to celebrate the victory they had against Gomez Luna. Montse is just happy that he invited her to go OUT. He gives her a gold bracelet and is happy that she likes it because it's the only thing she'll be wearing later. TMI (too much information). She mentions that they will have more time together now that his wife has a job. He doesn't know what she's talking about. She must have heard wrong because he forbid Connie to work in modeling after he stupidly asked her to marry him. Montse says she accidently ran into Connie and that's how she found out. He should be happy because it was a very desired campaign. It's for a lingerie line. This totally upsets Erick and he yells at the waiter and asks for the check.
David arrives home. Julia welcomes him and tells him that Eladio has changed. Eladio comes outside to greet him too. They show him the new motorcycle they bought for him. David likes it but says he can't accept it because Eladio had said not to count on him for anything. Eladio says he spoke without thinking. David thinks his dad was right. He needs to find his own way. Eladio thinks David is trying to upset him. David says he's not. Eladio tells him he's being very rude. Julia takes David aside and tells him that his father bought the bike for him with lots of love and care and to accept it. David apologizes, thanks his dad and accepts the bike. Eladio tells him to enjoy it. Julia announces that they will all go out to dinner. David says he's leaving for Queretaro. Eladio convinces David to stay. Julia says they can have dinner at home. David agrees and says that the important thing is that they are together. Eladio lets us know that he didn't grow up with his father because he died when he was a young boy. He confesses he has not been a good father for David. He had a rough childhood and then spent all his time focused on business because he always thought that providing his family with a good (and rich) life was all they needed to be happy. Eladio didn't know how to treat David well. David thinks he treated Franco good. David confesses that it has always hurt that his father treats Franco better than him. Eladio thinks that they always bump heads because they both have strong characters. He also recognizes that he should have given more on his part. He was wrong and was not a good dad, but now he wants to be. David says he loves his father and has always wanted to get along. Eladio says that from now on it'll be the way David wants and he's going to reinstate his allowance and credit cards. David doesn't want his money, he just wants his love and attention. They share a big man hug.
Erick wants an explanation about Connie modeling again. He thought they agreed she was going to stop. She wanted it to be a surprise. She tries to convince him, but he demands that she forget about the job, PUNTO! He doesn't want his wife exposing her self. She wants to model again so that he will find her attractive and be proud of her. The Jerk says NO! She wants to know how he found out, but he says that's not important. He demands that she go and quit tomorrow and to stop having contact with Montse. Connie figures that Montse told him because only a few people knew about it. He starts to pull her by the wrist when Miguel comes in and tells Erick to respect his wife. Erick tells Miguel to butt out. He shoves Miguel just as Nina and Arturo walk in. Erick tells his father he was having a marital spat. Arturo tells him to tone it down and respect his house. Erick says he was on his way out and leaves. Connie apologizes to Arturo. Arturo tells Miguel to keep a distance from his brothers marriage. Nina blames Connie. Miguel consoles Connie.
Julia is thrilled at how fantastic her life is going now. The three of them were able to have a meal together and Eladio even listened to David's plans for the future. She thanks him and he says he is doing it for her. She gives him a peck on the lips and he gets super excited. He brings her in close and plants a big one on her. He steps back and apologizes. Julia looks like she just saw a ghost. But she seemed to like it too cuz they go at it again. This time she stops and tells him that just like he is fighting for their marriage, she is going to do the same. She is just so surprised by his sudden change, but she wants to ask him for something. She wants to take it slow and he accepts. She thinks they can still save their marriage and was moved by what he told David. Eladio wants to support David, whether or not he works for him. She thinks that day by day they will get along better.
Franco informs Eladio that the lawyer is working on them only having to pay a fine instead of shutting down the bar and hotel. Franco knows that something is up with his padrino. Eladio is desperate. He doesn't know how long it will take Julia to react. It's hard to be so close to her without being able to touch her. He wants to be left alone. Franco wants to know if he is really getting anywhere with Julia. He tries to get Eladio angry by saying that his padrino has already done what Julia asked of him. He is getting along with David and he even bought him a new motorcycle. What more does Julia want, unless David is telling his mother to act this way just to piss off Eladio. Eladio grabs Franco by the necktie and wants to know if he heard anything. Franco starts to backtrack. He knows that he owes alot to Eladio. Eladio says that Franco needs to understand that David is his son, and David is going to respect and support him. With time Eladio is going to make David part of his company. Franco reminds Eladio that he will have to be patient with David. After all, he didn't want to stay and left for Queretaro.
Miguel and Connie are having a chat. He doesn't think Connie needs to ask Erick's permission to work. He is her husband, not her owner. (Yay Miguel!) She doesn't want anymore problems. He encourages her to continue with her plans since she enjoys modeling so much. She doesn't want to risk her marriage and thinks that maybe in the future she can change Erick's mind.
Franco is in the home gym beating up a punching bag like a crazy guy. Gabriela comes in and wants to know what's wrong. He is pissed that he is nothing to his padrino, and that his padrino does everything to be in Julia's good graces, including putting up with David. Gaby says it's only logical that he want to get along with his son. Franco calms down and wants a kiss. She wants him to talk to her aunt and uncle about their realtionship. He gets pissed again, hits the punching bag and leaves.
Erick goes to see Montse at her place. He demands that Montse not see Connie again. Montse says she gets jealous of Connie. Erick tells her that Connie may have his name, but Montse has his heart. Kissy time...
Regina arrives to a hotel in Queretaro. She starts undressing and gets startled by David coming out of the bathroom in only a towel!

He is pissed that he is nothing to his padrino, and that his padrino does everything to be in Julia's good graces, including putting up with David. Gaby says it's only logical that he want to get along with his son. Franco calms down and wants a kiss. She wants him to talk to her aunt and uncle about their realtionship. He gets pissed again, hits the punching bag and leaves.
Erick goes to see Montse at her place. He demands that Montse not see Connie again. Montse says she gets jealous of Connie. Erick tells her that Connie may have his name, but Montse has his heart. Kissy time...
Regina arrives to a hotel in Queretaro. She starts undressing and gets startled by David coming out of the bathroom in only a towel!

Eladio continues not to fool me, Franco is showing more and more evidence of being just like him, and Monserrat is more skanky all the time.
Pretty soon Arturo will call Erick out on his stepping out and Erick is now coming off as another Eladio. And Nina is going to be more careful about what vitriol she spits at the younger generation when Arturo is within earshot.

I was surprised that Dani showed her true colors to David so soon, and so completely shut down any possibility that he would ever want to be with her again. For sure, she will use those photos against him in the future. Now he's naked with a half naked Regina in a hotel room. Hmmmmm...Don't think he'll get lucky so quickly or easily with Gina as he did with Dani.

Now, David is a man, with his degree, and already a step in his career with this Queretaro project. AND he's determined to be independent of Eladio and to get Julia free of him. Grown up, independent David is a threat to Eladio-- he can convince Julia to leave Eladio AND support her financially if she does. Eladio has to neutralize this threat by convincing Julia and David that he's changed, and convincing David to come work for him (and become dependent on him once again).

Boy, surprised that Dani was revealed as the cold-hearted little beyotch we all thought she was at the start of this. I for one am immensely relieved that she wasn't going to play the "I want him too" game with Gina. If anything, she's even throwing him at her. Good ploy on her part because she thinks that would alienate Gina with her parents. Little does she know...Let Nina blow her smoke.
May I also add I did appreciate the many scenes of our young hero without the need for a "top" shall we say. And the end scene. Can't wait to see how that plays out.

Surprised that Daniela showed her true colors so quickly but if it means less slobbering between her and David maybe it’s for the best. Now she has a new trash boy is just as nasty as she is and I’ll likely skip her scenes and the ones between Montserrat and Erick.

If only she’d listened to Miguel’s final advice. “You shouldn’t have to ask Erick for permission to work, he’s your husband, not your owner.” Hopefully it’s not too long before she realizes that and does what is best for her, not Erick.

-And now Erick has passed along the damaging info about the bar's liquor license.

NovelaMaven- Yeah, it was pretty funny how each of the Montenegro kids took a bite out of the Gomez-Luna team. Perhaps Eladio should have trained his youngsters better and done a better job of fostering their loyalty.
And of course it looks like eventually most of the Gomez-Luna team will be fraternizing with the enemy- Julia and Art; David and Gina; Gabriela and Agusto. Eladio and Franco will be all alone.

It is creepy how Erick and his abuse of Consuelo is basically a blueprint for what probably happened between Julia and Eladio. I hope Connie wises up quickly as it is so frustrating to see her husband ignore her and/or be abusive and then forbid her to work. He should just divorce her. I know, I know but then there would be no conflict.

It was interesting to watch Eladio's reaction at the orphanage. After handing out some of the gifts and when some of the kids gave him a hug, he just stood there and looked very uncomfortable. So, perhaps he doesn't know how to respond to displays of affection.

Eladio claims to have learned to cook when he was food manager at a hotel in his youth. That must have been when he was learning from Arturo's father and abuelo before he screwed them over. As for whether Eladio's parents died when he was very young, we don't know if that's true.
What we can surmise is that he either never knew parental love at all. He is deeply insecure. Neither of which excuses how he treats Julia and David.

To give Daniela some credit, she did tell David after the first night sex that it didn’t mean anything but ITA the revenge factor was a surprise to me. Maybe Daniela is the female version of the guy who loves a chase but after he gets it, not so much. I definitely respect Daniela more than Erick, who should just let Consuelo go.

I think David handled the Daniela thing ok, admitting though he knew it was a love the one you're with thing it hurt nothing but his ego. It's not like Daniela is subtle, you get what you pay for and when the rides over you get off.

I am just waiting for something more to happen between Connie and Miguel. We already know that he feels something for her and she does see him as a close friend. Sooner or later she is going to compare Miguel's treatment to that of her husbands, and there is no comparison. Erick is a jerk and Miguel is not. It's just a matter of time. Question is will they act on their feelings?

ITA that is was a bit of a surprise that Dani showed her true colors last night, but it was a relief. At least now we are done with those silly beach and yacht scenes between her and David.
I am just waiting for something more to happen between Connie and Miguel. We already know that he feels something for her and she does see him as a close friend. Sooner or later she is going to compare Miguel's treatment to that of her husbands, and there is no comparison. Erick is a jerk and Miguel is not. It's just a matter of time. Question is will they act on their feelings?
Mauricio, I too noticed that long drawn out shot of the yacht. It was like the editor fell asleep.
I wish I could stay longer, but work awaits me. I will be back later.

Vivi - Thank you. I missed when Miguel mentioned not having to teach a class. That's good to know that he does work instead of not doing anything like Nina and Daniela.

Thanks for the info on Miguel. I knew he wasn't a mantenido like Nina and Dani. I am wondering if the kids had a nana growing up. I doubt Nina took care of them 24/7.

Consuelo is driving me crazy. What on earth should keep her married to Erick? I know, his money. But his mistreatment of her is just as disturbing as Eladio's to Julia. And Miguel always, always lurking in the background is creepy.
I like Daniela's attitude. Love the one you're with. If I had her body and her money and free time, I'd play the field too while my figure holds up. If Carlos were watching, she would be his favorite.

I think Miguel lurks around because he's waiting for his turn. Or he's just waiting for another hug. He's probably hoping that one day that hug will turn into something else. And it will because this is a novella.

AuntyAnn, I know that's what Miguel is after, he has the look of longing in his eyes when he sees her. But why is he always hanging around? We never see him working, we never see him anywhere but at the house, but he is always there when Consuelo needs consoling. And clearly, Consuelo has no interest in him whatsoever. If she's attracted to the muscle-head types like Erick, Miguel doesn't stand a chance.

Love your recap AuntyAnn. Is it just me, or did anyone notice the photo Artie was holding with him and julie in it was a photo taken for promoting LQNPA (rogelio y cynthia). Can'twait till Franco's story gets exposed as well.
