Antes Muerta que Lichita #57 Friday 12/11/15 'Stop! in the name of love!' but it ain't the Supremes and this ain't Motown... Augie shows his worst side...
At the climactic moment in the wedding, three 'I do's'... one left...
Alex is asked… do you?...
But all of a sudden, in a very
entertaining twist of Diana Ross and the Supremes song… in comes running Kenny
yelling ‘STOPPPPP!!!! In the name of Love!!’
Freeze frame!!... Someone pull out a shovel, everyone’s jaws are falling
on the floor…
Lichita encourages Alex to listen
to his heart and go with Kenny and turn his back on everything and everyone
else… Alex walks closer to Augustus and Bea and tells them ‘dad, mom.. I’m
sorry but I can’t get married.’ Then he walks to Kenny, holds hands with him as
they walk away and everyone, especially Sandra, is dumbfounded. Augustus is
angry, having an internal combustion, and Bea is having an indigestion and
faulty waterworks.
Next, Lichita is the one that
walks away smiling after consulting the audience on her decision to either
laugh or cry…
Everyone else who didn’t know yet
is chitchatting about Alex being Gay, Sandra says ‘imagine what Augustus must
be feeling’…
Priest tries to bring everyone
back to the wedding and finishes declaring Luciana and Roberto man and
wife.
Kenny explains to Alex that he
was pressured by the managers to get engaged. But he only loves Alex. Alex asks ‘now what?’ Kenny suggests they move far away and start a
new life.
Lichita is still walking/running
down the street, with all of the press following in her heels… She jumps on a
public bus and loses the press. The
press people head back to the church.
Everyone in the bus is a bit
intrigued by LIchita entering wearing a wedding gown.
At the orphanage, Mateo is talking
to the teacher. The teacher encourages to him to get better and wait for his dad.
Lichita at a park bench… ‘all my
life I had heard ‘you propose and God acts’.
(uno propone y Dios dispone). But at this moment she wonders if it was
God’s will what was happening or if fate was laughing at her expense. And there was her life, falling apart, and
she was experiencing an unending fall.
We see Lichita walk through the locations where she spends her time (the
office, the coffee shop, the house, etc). she is crying.
At church, the board members are
all ranting at Augustus, they ask if he ‘knew’.
He tells them he is as surprised as they are. They don’t buy that.
Bea and Augustus are walking
out. Luciana and Roberto are the only
ones left in the church and Luci asks Bea if they are going to her
reception. But no response from aunty
and uncle. Luci asks Roberto to give her
the ‘kiss’. But he just says dryly ‘lets go’.
As they walk out Luci talks to the press… she tells them she was aware
of her cousin’s preferences… and Lichita also knew… thus she was only marrying
Alex for ambition. However, Roberto
notes to her that there is no one listening to her (no press). Then she asks again for the ‘kiss’. But He
suggests they go ahead to the reception.
Back to Lichita at the park… she
concluded she would have to face the press eventually… oh well that’s fate.
At the house, Nacho and Elsa are
wondering what is going on with Lichita… She needs time alone to settle her
feelings and thoughts. Ximena and Magos
are asking for explanation… Elsa passes the buck to Nacho… he passes it back.
Elsa explains that there are people that are ‘different’ from the moment they
are born… Ximena says ‘Alex is Gay!’
They are all dumbfounded about how much she knows of the matter. She says
its all over the media, the news, and the internet. What Ximena wonders is if Lichita knew Alex is
Gay already.
In comes Lichita…
But we are transported to the
reception, which has dozens of tables… mostly empty… only a few girls from the office. Luciana is disappointed. She asks Roberto what he is thinking since he
is distracted. He says he doesn’t feel well.
Shushette is trying to take some pictures of the event but Braulio and
Brisa are not feeling like smiling to the camera. Nestor tries to get them to
smile, but they are not in the mood.
At the mansion, Rafael, Valeria,
Bea and Daphne are home. Bea suggests
Valeria and Rafa go to the reception to be with their daughter.
At the office, Augustus has a
grumpy silent face.
At reception, there is one couple
dancing ‘el venao’ (oh wow, what a song choice!!) Luciana asks Roberto if he
knew… he claims he did not. Fatima comes
over to Sandra and tries to get her to smile. Sandra is worried about
Augie. Elias is with her… Elias assumes
Augie is where he should be, with his family.
Valeria and Rafael arrive. Shushette urges them to dance and try to
liven up the party, otherwise it will look more like a funeral! As SHushette drags Rafael away, Valeria notes
‘ay no, no, no! there’s no one here!’
Lichita tries to explain to
Ximena: ‘this things happen and you just
have to move on…. Sometimes you get confused and think other feelings are love…
but it was a good thing to realize the mistake now and not after we were
married.’ Ximena is only worried about Lichita being upset. She’s not.
Roberto calls Gumaro… Gumaro can’t
believe Roberto went through with the wedding…
Roberto feels awful… he is now married to Luciana!... but he is angry
that if it were for Alicia, now she would be married to Alex. The cancellation
of their wedding had nothing to do with her. So for now he will focus on being
married to Luciana to see if he can get Mateo.
At the house, Alex stops by to
say goodbye… he wants to apologize to Bea… In walks an angry Augie… he shakes Alex
around… ‘I used to have a son but now my son is dead!!! Undertand, Imbecile??
MY SON IS DEAD!!!’ (yikes!!) Alex stays quiet … for now. Augie repeats his nasty insult and throws Alex
against the door yelling for him to leave. Alex just turns around to his mom and
says calmly ‘mom, my dad knew my sexual preferences… and so did you… you just
did not want to admit it… you always preach about being a model christian, but
you are an homophobe.’ Augie threatens but Bea yells to him not to hit Alex. Augie yells at Alex that he leaves, but he will
leave with nothing! And if something happens
to his mom for what he did, it will be his fault!! Daphne walks in and asks what is going on.
Nacho and Elsa hear from Alicia
that she had agreed to marry Alex ‘on paper’.
She swears to them that she got the title she has at the office with her
work. Nacho is worried about what will
happen with her job. Elsa asks Alicia to
think hard what is it she wants to do.
Rafael tells SHushette that all
they want is for their daughter to have an event/reception that she will remember
all her life! HE slips to her that she
is ‘smart’ and she gets all cooey dooey about it (a first for her).
Elias asks Sandra to dance, she
refuses, but Fatima encourages her to do it. Sandra sighs angry and walks to
the dance floor alone, takes her long skirt off and reveals a short fluffy
skirt with slit, perfect for latin dancing
(OMG, Chantal has lost a LOT of weight!) all of a sudden we have a
Sandra who is a pro at exhibition salsa dancing!! (a pro dancer partner shows
up out of nowhere). Sandra and Elias are dumbfounded… Suddenly Sandra walks
away.
Luciana starts whispering to
Roberto about their honeymoon… Augie gave them a weekend at a super Elegante
hotel. Rafael comes and holds Roberto
by shoulders and says this honeymoon will be something to remember for a
lifetime!! (para toda la vida).
Lichita tells her parents she can’t
even imagine what is coming up for her, even if she has a job. Nacho says don’t just throw away your career
at Iconika! The one that backed up on
their plan was Alex! Lichita is worried
about what others will say about her being ‘cover up’ for Alex. Elsa says you
can’t cover up the sun with your thumb…
Nacho repeats that she has given her whole life to the job and Augie
will not ignore that.
Daphne asks Alex how come he is
gay and she never noticed. He says
sometimes you are so close to someone that you don’t notice the obvious. HE then says his mom knew… but every time he
brought up the subject, she avoided it. Again Augie threatens Alex with beating
him right out the door. Alex says no need, I am going.
Elias tells Sandra that last time
he danced with her, she was the center of attraction. She says she always loved dancing, he knew
it. She calls Elias old hag and ‘ridiculous’. Elias says ‘take a look in the mirror’ (no
truer words were ever said). He recalls
some fun facts about their own wedding and gets her to laugh and smile some…
(these two should end up together again).
Elias asks Sandra if she is ready for her ‘traveling plans’. She gets mad and turns her back to him.
Daphne is worried Alex will
abandon her… He tells her that Kenny and
him met in US and fell in love there. But they broke up and that is when he
came back. Daphne realizes he did not come home because of her email… She gets
really upset. Alex wants to go after
her. Kenny wisely suggests Alex give her some time.
At reception, it is going from
bad to worse to Luciana, who is trying to dance the first waltz with Roberto
and she has to ask the few attendees to applaud them. Roberto dances a little more with her and
then asks that they sit down. Luciana can only think and talk about their ‘tiditiditidilin…’ (escape to honeymoon). I have to say the music is a bit weird… like
the dj is drunk and with music from a few decades ago…
Braulio and Brisas talk … she is
trying to get him to go steady with her but he thinks she is talking about
SHushette and Brisa gets angry.
Rafael and Shushette are having a
good time at the dance floor.
Valeria comes over to Luciana
after Roberto leaves her alone… Valeria thinks Luciana is in love with Roberto…
but Luciana toasts to love by drinking the whole glass of wine in one sip.
At honeymoon suite, Roberto is
remembering when he and Alicia were in robes in the apartment he had then… then
Roberto drops himself on the bed totally devastated. Luciana comes crawling to try to get him ‘engaged’
all Roberto does is cough and yell ‘STOP!! Gauchita!..’ he is very ill… he has
his eyes closed and won’t turn around to face her… Luciana asks him not to do this… he says
maybe just with some rest tonight he will be better tomorrow. Luciana insists asking if he really is not
up to it… he fakes snoring.
Morning… Roberto won’t even wake up… Luciana insists on
them getting twisted up… he won’t react so she goes to get something.. (what is
that?) to get him to smell it … but he won’t react. She sprinkles champagne on
him, then spills the champagne on him and there is still no reaction. She notices
he is warm so she jumps up to go call the doctor…
Elsa tries hard to get Lichita to
spill her thoughts and feelings about Roberto… Lichita is irritated about
Roberto. What she ever had with Roberto is over! She Doesn’t want to hear his name or talk
about him ever again. She does not care about anything related to Roberto!!
Nuff said!
Doctor tells Luciana that Roberto
needs to rest… with this fever he can’t even get up from bed. He needs to tell
Luciana that it is necessary to bring the temp down. Luciana heard that and
thought Doctor was talking about HER heat (being in heat or anxious to roll in
the hay with Rob).
Lichita confronts the press… She even
gives a slight push to one of the press girls… they are provoking her to try to
get her to talk.
Alicia arrives at the office…
Nestor, Shushette and others are amazed at the ‘nerve’ of Alicia. Alicia tells
them that until something else is decided (by Augie?) she is still General
Creative Director!
At Augie’s office, Sandra is
asking about how the events of the last day affect their traveling plans. Augie bans her from even mention the name of
Alex from any conversation of theirs.
And Alicia Gutierrez needs to be erased from the map (make her disappear)
and that is job for Sandra. Sandra seems all the happy to comply.
Elsa and Nacho… she says the
coffee shop is what will get them through this time. Elsa is starting to brainstorm/daydream about
a bigger better business… Nacho is not so optimistic. Gets flustered with her.
Alicia runs into Sandra on the
hallway. Sandra says ‘how dare you even come to the office?... from this moment
on, you are fired.’
Rafael and Valeria are in the
honeymoon suite (HUH????) seems Luciana
called them to let them know about Roberto’s illness. They quickly leave. Roberto is ready to confess something to Luciana… His ‘nephew’ is really his son. Luciana freezes.
Sandra tells Alicia that she is
no longer useful to the company. Get it?
Shushette don’t waste any chance
to mock Alicia about what just happened.
Alicia again brings up the years of work she has given the office. She gets mocked again about it being serving
coffee and making copies. Alicia says it will be Augie who will decide that and
we will see what he says.
Previews: seems Augie is backing
up Sandra about firing Alicia… Roberto’s illness is progressing, he is in
critical status at hospital.

Found this episode totally depressing after the wedding.
What is wrong with Sandra? How awful she is! The satisfaction on her face when Augie told her to get rid of Alicia was disgusting. Hopefully she will reap what she sews.
From the advances it looks like Luci gets Alicia's job. I guess that doesn't mean Alicia is not working there anymore. Maybe Augie gives her something but would she really take a demotion? I'm hoping she leaves and Luci loses all of the clients. I mean who will make Luci look good without Alicia there to do the work?
I thought Rob was just faking but it looks like he is really sick.
So Augies true colors came out. Hope he chokes on them.
The API guys really liked Alicia. I wonder if she could run for president and piss Augie off? Then again the guys probably think Alicia was in on the deception with Alex and Augie. I would love to see Alicia and Elias start their own agency and bring Brisa, Brauliio and Fatima.

I could've enjoyed Sandra's dancing, but she's such a B. Rafael's dancing was cute and smooth. I'm charmed by him.
Reactions to Kenny stopping the wedding: I liked Nacho's reaction the best. Everybody else looked shocked, but Nacho looked like he was taking it in, figuring it out. Glad the whiny Nacho is gone.

I marvel at Alicia's strength and resilience. Her life was shattered, yet she wanted the best for Kenny and Alex and was lovely in her support. She lost the love of her life yet not even that nor her remembrance of her journey could break her heart and spirit.
But, how will she survive yet another heartbreak at work? The disgusting Augusto has decreed she is expendable and Sandra was all too revoltingly ready to do his bidding. Carvivlie, yes, what is wrong with her?? Seeing Alicia's "colleagues" snicker and delight at Sandra's dismissal made me ill. Alicia must leave IKONICA. No matter what occurs. Please, please, do not have her demoted yet again and spend one more moment with those despicable people.
I so loved that Luciana had an almost empty reception! But it was small consolation seeing that it appears she is being given Alicia's job.
Also enjoyed "Roberto's mopey dancing" (thanks Niecie) and Sandra's surprise salsa(although rather sorry she didn't fall on her head after seeing what transpired later)and laughing at Nestor's hair (which looked like a full fledged hedge hog). LOL.

The empty reception was perfect. One, bec just showed how no one has friends outside the office so most of the people were Augies business associates. Two, bec of One, Augies humiliation increases, and Three, glad Luci didn't get a happy time. Though I felt bad for Lucis parents.
I think we are suppose to feel conflicted about Sandra but I don't at all. She and Augie deserve each other. She may have been a decent person in her past but I've seen no sign of it in the present.

I wonder if Luciana's dirty rags (her accident with Nacho and broken engage to the Duque) will come out at the worst moment for her.
A busy holiday weekend but I couldn't let it go without a thank you to you Martaivett. Your work was not forgotten nor should it be. Yes, I was busy with the holidays but at least half of my thoughts were on the novelas. How can anyone not be thinking about Que Lichita? I can't.
The large almost empty reception room had me smiling every time Uni showed us that scene. I laughed at the waiters enjoying a good lunch/dinner? What a hoot.
Another funny moment for me was when Luciana was talking, explaining everything to the reporters but no reporters were there. A big double hoot it was.
How long can Roberto keep Luciana at arms length remains to be seen.
PAYBACK---I would love to see Alicia become the head of Iconika and fire everyone who has laughed at her and has made her live miserable. I know that won't happen but it would be sooooo satisfying.
Tofie---Ingrid Martz on SNL---I would love to see that. Make her a show regular.

Alicia fired? Get rid of the company's top money maker. WHAT??? Can't wait to see the account losses after Luciana steps up. I don't think that bulldog Sandra will be able to save things after one disaster after another begins to pile up. What will Agusto do when the pesos stop flowing?
