Pasión y Poder Episode #32 Friday, December 18th 2015 Erick gets busted with his Ratt (then loses her), David returns his early Xmas gift, and Clara vows to travel from rags to riches.

As you may recall, The Ratt showed up in Tabasco and now she and Erick are about to have a quickie in one of the offices. Artie is about to be left scarred for life as he is about to open the door and catch his son with his hands in the cookie jar, or in this case, with his hands on The Ratt's melons. Over on The Patio, we all want Erick to get busted, so we are all very disappointed when Artie is interrupted from opening the office by a phone call. The caller is none other than his love interest- Julia.

So like father, like son. While the son is busy with his lover, the father is busy taking a call from the woman that he's been mooning over. Julia tells Artie that she has something VERY important that she needs to ask him and that she wants to see him. This is music to Artie's ears, because as we know, he has been dying to see her too. However, he doesn't want to get her into trouble with hubs (Oh, so now you're worried about getting her in trouble. A little late for that, Artie!). Artie tells her about his run in with David- and omitting the fact that he told David that he had the hots for his mom- he only tells Julia that he told David that he had found out that she was in the hospital and wanted to see her. Julia doesn't know where or when the two could possibly talk. Artie tells her that he'll find a way once he returns. He suggests enlisting Gabriela in Mission: See My Ex Behind My Spouse's Back. Julia does the right thing and tells Artie that she doesn't want to get Gabriela involved. Artie wonders if what Julia has to tell him is urgent because if it is then he's willing to slay the dragon, climb the tallest mountain, sail the seven seas, and lose millions in his business deal, to come and see her right now. Julia decides to let him know right then there what she wants to ask him because she fears that something bad could happen to her. She asks Artie to look after David and to make sure he's well feed, that he changes his underwear, and that he doesn't miss his bedtime to take care of him like a son if anything bad happens to her. (Yikes, someone should tell Julia that Artie isn't exactly Father of the Year material!)

Oh the horror. Inside the office, The Ratt is about to remove her Forever 21 bra. As I am about to shut my eyes (after being scarred for life over seeing her booty) Erick asks The Ratt not to remove any more clothing because he's worried that his dad could arrive at any moment. Erick would rather get down to business at the cheap hotel she's probably staying at at the hotel where she's at. The Ratt lets him know that she's at one of the Montenegro hotels. Erick tells her to switch hotels because his dad could be at the one she's staying at.

Back to Julia and Artie. Artie agrees to look after David. Julia thanks him- she's so afraid that Eladio could harm him. It relaxes her knowing that Artie will look after David. Artie assures Julia that no harm will come to David or to her. He asks her about her fall. She tells him that argument she had with Eladio was over her telling Eladio that they had seen each other. She confirms that her fall was an accident. Artie wants the truth- because if Eladio were to blame, then the one he'd have to protect would be her. He tells her that he'd do anything for her and loves her. But she knows that, right? Oh yeah, she does. She knew that the instance their lips touched. It seems like he didn't get that same vibe from their lips touching, because he asks her if she loves him and he insists on getting an answer. She beats around the bush reminding him that he's married, and telling him that she can't and won't get a divorce, and that they can only be good friends. Artie doesn't get his question answered because Julia hangs up when she hears Eladio's whining, about not being allowed to see her, as he comes into the room. Eladio looks on at Julia as she looks like a guilty dog who has just gone to the bathroom on the new carpet.

Artie now goes into the office where Erick and The Ratt are about to have their quickie. But Artie's arrival has interrupted them and The Ratt has hidden under the desk. All Artie finds is a shirtless Erick. Artie scolds Erick for not working out those abs for not looking presentable. What if someone were to arrive... the horror of it all. Erick says that he took off his shirt because it was hot. Yes, that's it. It was getting hot in there. He promises his dad it won't happen again. Now Erick changes the subject and is able to get his dad out of that office and into another one. It is there that Erick lets Artie know that Eladio is behind the union strike. Artie is muy impactado.

Eladio has entered Julia's hospital room when he was told not to. Now the tiny nurse is threatening to call security on him. As Eladio begs for his life David now shows up and is able to convince his dad to leave the room. Now alone with the tiny nurse, Julia begs her not to leave her alone in the same room with her hubs. The nurses promises that it won't happen again. (Somehow I doubt that.)

Outside in the waiting area, David tries to talk some sense into his dad, who is whining about not being allowed to see his mujer. David tells his dad that there has to be reason for the doctor not allowing him to see his mom (Maybe you should find out what that reason is, David!) and says that if they want Julia to recover then she must remain calm. Eladio decides to ditch the hospital and get back to his dirty business dealings at work. David embraces his dad and he returns the embrace with a rather awkward tap on David's shoulder.

Artie is now on the phone with a very angry Santiago. When he hangs up he lets Erick know that Santiago is pissed because his stores aren't ready yet like was promised. So now he's threatening on helping Eladio get the green light for his construction (the one that Santiago helped Artie screw up). Artie decides it's a smart idea to send his idiot son to talk to the union workers and let them know that they are going to negotiate. (Has Artie forgotten what happened the last time Erick met with them?)

While Erick is off doing that, Artie skypes with Augie and Regina. Regina was able to round up the workers that Artie needs to save his butt, err his business deal. She'll send them over. Artie thanks Regina for helping him. She tells him that she'll always help him when she can. Regina leaves to get things ready. Artie and Augie are now left skyping alone. Artie tells Augie that Eladio was behind the union strike. So of course they'll have to get back at Eladio for this big time by giving him a swirly down at the country club locker room -Artie tells Augie. They'll discuss that later. Right now he's worried about Julia. Augie surprisingly offers to find out how she's doing. Artie lets Augie know that she's better and that they talked on the phone. He wants Augie to keep an eye on Julia because Eladio could harm her. Augie doesn't want Artie to get into trouble. Artie doesn't care, he can't leave her alone. And since it's just them guys there, or so he thinks, he tells Augie that Julia told him that she loved him. At that moment, Nina arrives, and she has heard the whole thing. She wants to know who loves Artie. Artie is looking very guilty now.

David visits his mom. She's worried about what Eladio told him. David doesn't care about that right now-all he cares about is his mom's health. She wishes that she could always be there for him. Gabriela comes into the room and David goes to see the doctor to ask him about his mother's new test results. Now alone with Gabriela, Julia asks her if it's true that she's doing better. Gabriela tells her that she is- well minus the risk of a blood clot- but Gabriela is sure that Julia will be alright. Julia is afraid that something horrible could happen to her. That's why she wants to make sure that David knows the truth and nothing but the truth.

Artie stutters his words and says that he was talking about Regina. He now asks her what she's doing there, and she replies that she's there because she misses him. Artie doesn't think that's the reason- he knows she's there because she doesn't trust him. It's her jealously all over again. Nina assures him that if she stepped foot in this "oven" it was to be with him. She tells him that she does trust him. She says that she made that drama over Julia- because, well he knows she can explosive. She says that she understand that it is in the past now and besides Julia is the wife of his worst enemy. She tells him that she wants things to be good between them and then she goes for his lips. They kiss.

Julia thinks it's time she sits down with David and lets him know why his dad hates his guts. (Wow, now there's a conversation that every mother should have with their children... NOT.. ) Gabriela doesn't think it's the right moment since she's not well yet and David and Eladio are very much affected by what happened. Julia wants David to know that Eladio is his dad and that if Eladio doubts her.... Gabriela interrupts. She tells her aunt that she'll be fine and will have a chance to talk to David later on. She tells her aunt that right now she has to think about getting better. Julia says she can't- if it weren't for David she wishes she were dead. Gabriela tells her not to say that because she needs her too. They share a sweet embrace. Julia tells her that if she said what she said (about wanting to be dead) it was because things will be worse now because she told Eladio that she wants nothing to do with him and this time she really means it.

Eladio tells Franco that he doesn't care anymore that Erick saw him with the union guy. They all might as well know who he is and what he can do. Franco tells his padrino that Artie is working on a solution. Eladio wishes Artie would stay over there in Tabasco. Franco goes off to do something work related, but before he leaves, he blabs to Eladio about Francisco knowing Gisela.

Artie backs off from the kiss and takes Nina by surprise. He tells her that this time make-up sex won't work to fix their marital problems. Nina doesn't get what has changed. He tells her that there is so much that they have to resolve in their lives- starting with their offspring (especially Erick and Daniela). He calls Nina out again on not paying any attention to them. Then he brings up her jealously. Nina says they can start all over again. Artie tells her that right now he has other things on his mind like mooning over Julia and thinking about her 24/7 and tells her that she didn't have to come over there. He tells her that he's working and that he isn't cheating on her. Nina says that she made a mistake in coming and says that she didn't want to bother him. She'll be leaving tomorrow, but wants to go out with him on a dinner date, so they can talk. She wants to know what she has to do to fix their marriage. (Honey, not even super glue can fix it, just saying)

Yuck. The Ratt and Erick are getting it on. They are both topless. Turns out The Ratt sneaked into Erick's room for a booty call. They both gross me out. Next scene.. please.

Francisco gives Clara a gift for Luisita and hopes it'll help Luisita feel better. (Therapy would be a better help, but whatever, I guess toys might work) He asks Clara to let Justino know that he'd like to help him. Francisco notices that Clara is still being serious with him and wants to know what's up. (He's a fool for not getting it, just saying) Clara says that she still hasn't forgotten how he was drooling over Consuelo. Francisco is brainless and still doesn't get it- why should it affect Clara so much that he was going all gaga over Consuelo if he and she are just friends. They are interrupted by Franco who comes into the office to b*tch at them for wasting time chit chatting instead of getting some work done. He tells Francisco that his padrino wants to see him. Francisco leaves. Franco stares at Clara. Clara leaves.

The Ratt and Erick are in bed and cuddle. The Ratt wants Erick to spill the beans about Consuelo to his dad. Erick doesn't think now is the time. They are interrupted with a knock on the door. Erick thinks it's room service so imagine his shock when he opens the door and finds his mom standing at the door. Nina walks into the room and catches Erick with a naked Ratt. Nina demands an explanation from Erick.

Francisco hands Eladio some documents. Eladio asks Francisco how he knows Gisela. Francisco says that a friend of his lives over at the same hood where Gisela lives. Eladio wants to know if Gisela has said anything about her visits to the Gomez Luna offices. Francisco says that Gisela is grateful because he is still paying her, her husband's pension. Francisco wonders if there is a problem. Eladio says nope- just curious. Eladio then gets on Francisco's case for missing work. It better not happen again because while Francisco may be efficient at what he does (and what does he do exactly?) no one and I mean no one is indispensable. Francisco leaves. Eladio then talks on the phone about some gift for David. He leaves for the hospital. Franco who has been there the whole time fumes- over David getting a gift while he gets a lump of coal nada. Ha!

Nina can't believe that Erick is getting it on with The Ratt when things between his dad and him aren't good. Nina yells at The Ratt and calls her a golddigger. She tells The Ratt that she'll never ever be a Montenegro. She also tells The Ratt that Erick will get bored of her like he did with Consuelo. Nina makes Erick realize that if he wants the whole enchilada (the Montenegro fortune) then he can't risk his dad finding out that he and The Ratt are still getting it on.

Regina thanks David for lending a hand with the workers for her dad. She mentions his dad finding out and he tells her that he doesn't care what his dad say. He did what he did because he loves her. Regina asks him if he's still flabbergasted over his mom and her dad being sweethearts. David admits that it's difficult but despite all that he knows how much he (David) loves her (Regina). Smooches.

Now alone with The Ratt, Erick dismisses her and sends her packing back home. He agrees with her mom that he can't risk his dad finding out about them- his dad could disown him- and then how could he give his Queen Ratt what he promised he'd give her. The Ratt is pissed that Erick doesn't have the you know what to face his parents. She tells him to forget her and leaves the room in a huff. Nina comes back into the room and likes that her son obeyed her. She assures him that she knows what's good for him and tells him that he has to get those kind of women out of his life.

Eladio arrives with flowers for Julia. Julia isn't amused. Eladio assures her that he'll keep on suffocating her with his gifts showing her how much he loves her. He lets her know that he didn't tell David about her encounters with Artie. David comes into the room. Eladio gives David an early Xmas gift- 20% of the shares of Gomez Luna & Associates (or whatever the company is called). Julia and David are impactados. Eladio tells David that now a part of the company that he has built on dirty business dealings is now his. David says thanks but no thanks- he doesn't want to accept the shares- because he feels that Eladio could change his mind later on. Eladio wonders why that would happen. David says- because you never know how life can turn around. Julia wants David to accept the shares- she knows that Eladio is giving him the shares without caring whether or not David works for him. She says that if he is giving them to him it is because they are his patrimony- because after all he is his son. Eladio agrees. Eladio tells David that this gift comes from the heart.

Erick calls Nina out on being rude to his Ratt. He doesn't care what anyone else thinks- he loves his Ratt. Nina slaps him. She yells at him and tells him that he can't let the Montenegro fortune be handed down to that little dummy and stalker that lives us with- Miguel. She tries to make him see that if he doesn't take control then Artie will give it all to Miguel. Nina knows there is some intelligence somewhere in Erick says that Erick is intelligent and that she knows that Erick won't let go of the Montenegro fortune because of a slut. She tells him that he can't marry that woman. Erick says that he wants to decide his life- he wants to decides who he eats with, who he sleeps with, and who he is with. Nina wants Erick to get his dad's confidence back. Erick wants his mother to help him with that because right now Regina is the favorite one- she saved Artie's business deal.

David gives back the document with the shares to Eladio. He wants to win things on his merit and tells his dad that they can talk about this later. The doctor comes into the room and wants to speak with Eladio. Eladio leaves. Now alone with his mother, David seems to think that things are well with his father, so she doesn't have to worry.

Nina tells Erick- fine let your sister help him this time, but do something so your dad can feel that you are his right hand man again. Nina then tells Erick that Artie and Julia were novios. Erick is impactado.

Doctor calls Eladio out over seeing Julia when he knew he wasn't supposed to. He advises Eladio to let his wife recover first then try and fix things with her.

Nina tells Erick that she doesn't know whether to believe that what Artie and Julia had is in the past. Oh, Nina would love to get a chance to speak with Julia. But she's in a coma. Well, at least that is what Regina told her, but Daniela will find out if it's true or not. Erick agrees that what happened between his dad and Julia is in the past. Nina knows but says that you have to be careful when people from the past come back- because they could have a negative influence. Take Miguel for example- he's part of Artie's past and it has been hard to deal with him. Erick reminds his mom that she's Mrs. Montenegro and that Julia is married to Eladio. Nina knows that her sixth sense doesn't fail and she knows that there is more and she'll find out even if she has to go and ask Eladio himself. Erick tells her that she can't go and interrogate Eladio. It could worsen things. Nina enlists Erick in Mission: Help Me Find Out If Your Dad Is Cheating On Me With His Ex. Erick promises to help out if he can. Erick is about to go and meet his dad and Nina asks him to make sure that his dad finishes work early because if she came all the way over there it was to reconcile with him. Nina wants to have a second honeymoon with Artie and for things to get back to normal.

Franco tries to get info from Francisco about Gisela. But Francisco tells him nada. Then Franco asks Francisco if he and Clara are an item. Franco makes fun of him for conforming himself with so little. Francisco tells Franco that his love life is none of his beeswax so butt out. Oh, and if Franco wants to find out about Gisela then go and ask your padrino. (You tell him, Francisco!)

Caridad and Gisela talk during visiting hours. Caridad is happy because her sentence will be reduced soon- she helped out in the prison kitchen (I guess that helped her case). Gisela as always gets negative with her and tells her that her sentence reduction could take time and besides that will only happen as long as powerful people don't screw things up. Caridad asks her mother if she thinks that Eladio wants to harm her. Gisela says- she doesn't know. She tells Caridad not to get her hopes up about getting out of the slammer. Caridad tells her mother to let her get her hopes up about getting out and gives her mother a letter for her son. She hopes that next time Gisela brings some news about her son. Gisela tells her that she already told her that he hasn't responded. Gisela gets up, hugs her daughter, and blesses her. When Caridad is out of sight, Gisela trashes the letter.

The press has shown up at the hospital and wants the scoop about Julia's accident. They question Eladio. Was he to blame for the accident? Eladio gets pissed and shoves the reporter down. David shows up and intervenes. Gabriela gets security and the press gets kicked out. Eladio thinks that Artie sent the press over to them. David thinks that maybe they found out some other way. Eladio doesn't understand how the press always finds these things out and realizes that Artie couldn't have sent them because he has no way of knowing what's happening.

Aldo calls up The Ratt while she's at the hotel lobby and gives her the news about Consuelo's pregnancy. Turns out Consuelo stopped by The Ratt's apartment to pay her a visit. The Ratt confronts Erick and the two make a scandalous scene in the lobby. Erick tells The Ratt that he just found out about the pregnancy and didn't have time to tell her since they are always getting it on and never have time to chat and besides Consuelo hasn't been well and he doesn't think the baby will be born. (Die. Erick. Die). The Ratt has had it with Erick and his dysfunctional family and tells Erick it's over.

Clara finally admits to Francisco that she thought that he and she could have something. But Clara is used to the guys preferring Consuelo. Francisco tells Clara that he didn't think that she had feelings for him and it hurts him that he hurt her because it wasn't his intention. Clara says that Gisela is right and their can't be anything between them and not because of Consuelo. But because he's rich and she's poor. But one day, she'll be rich and famous and the queen of England she'll be someone important.

Daniela tries to get out of cleaning by promising to give Petra a makeover if she covers for her with her dad. Petra will think about it while they clean Regina's room. Petra leaves to go and fetch something and leaves Daniela to do some dusting. Daniela snoops around and finds a photo of Regina and David smooching. Oh no. Daniela swears vegeance- because Regina had said that she and David had nothing together.

Eladio leaves for work, again. Gabriela will update him. Eladio asks David not to let the press bother his mom or talk to the doctor. David will be on alert. Eladio leaves. David now asks Gabriela whether she thinks that Artie could have sent the press. Gabriela doesn't know. David doesn't know what to think- lately he has been surprised by what he has found out. Gabriela tells him that what happened between his mom and Artie was a long time ago. David doesn't understand why Artie came to see his mom- it's all so strange. Gabriela tells David that his mom would never cheat. David agrees. Gabriela asks him if he will be able to handle the relationship he has with Regina and her dad.

Regina has arrived in Tabasco and she and Artie talk. The first 100 workers will arrive tomorrow and the rest will come later. Changing the subject, Regina wants to the scoop on his relationship with Julia, because her happiness depends on it.

Gracias, Mauricio.

Looks like everyone screwed up this time. Daniela's offer to Petra will probably be repeated to her dad when he gets back.

I guess it never occurred to Daniela to snoop in Regina's room before but we can expect more of this going forward. This will probably drive Regina out the door and I hope it does before Nina tries to throw her out.

David does need to know the degree of danger Julia is in over the DNA thing and the sheer insanity of this. I don't think I mentioned it before but Eladio's facial expressions and how he avoided looking him in the face in the hospital scenes from the last few episodes is a huge red flag. The only emotion he is comfortable with showing is anger, which he turns on and off like a faucet. This gift of 20% of the company is a pure manipulation designed for Julia's benefit. David should take it, run, and sell it to start his own business somewhere else.

Nina's presence in Tabasco is not going to help anything but that she busted Erick and the Rat was hilarious. Interesting how Nina doesn't care whether other men cheat on their wives but she can't handle even the idea of Arturo doing so and she doesn't see herself in MonsterRat. As soon as Arturo's cell phone rang I knew that Chimp Boy would get off the hook for the moment but it occurred to me that Nina would be the first to bust him. She is seriously delusional if she thinks he has the intelligence to follow in Arturo's footsteps as CEO.

More later.

Mauricio...you are always clever and funny, but this is one of your best. Every aside was hilarious. And my condolences for being scarred for life by those lust scenes between the Ratt and Eric.

Haven't seen this yet, but your re-telling of it was just delicious. Busy day today, but I will certainly try and watch my recording at some point. In the meantime, you made my breakfast extremely interesting! Gracias.

thank you, Mauricio, for yet another detailed, snappy recap.

Now, we are off to the airport to pick up family for the holidays and then to an afternoon dance recital. Not much of a telenovela feel to my days. I am thankful that I do not have any of these bizarre characters in my life. Have a good weekend, everyone!Go jingle your bells.

Thanks, Mauricio! Fabulous detail. But how could you not mention that the Rat had scurried to hide in a hole (under the desk) when Art entered? It was such a funny visual.

After seeing how he reacted in front of his mama, the Rat should realize that Erick is never going to fight his family to be with her. He used up his big boy currency back when he fought marry Connie- and she wasn't a slut who was sleeping with Eladio Gomez Luna. No way Erick is going to fight Nina and Art to marry the Rat. Bye bye inheritance and job, if he does.

The other moment that made me laugh was Eladio's confusion about how to reciprocate when David pulled him into a warm hug. And no, Eladio, shares in your company is not what gives David warm fuzzies. Try that with your other son.

My mouth fell open when Gisela tossed that letter Caridad wrote Franco before she was even out of the visitors room. She has got to also know that the info she has given Eladio over the years has helped him keep her daughter in jail. I cannot wait till she's out and learns how deeply and thoroughly her mother has betrayed her.

Thanks, Mauricio. Fun recap. My favorites:

Artie is about to be left scarred for life as he is about to open the door and catch his son with his hands in the cookie jar, or in this case, with his hands on The Ratt's melons.

Yikes, someone should tell Julia that Artie isn't exactly Father of the Year material!

Eladio looks on at Julia as she looks like a guilty dog who has just gone to the bathroom on the new carpet.

Loved Nina’s treatment of Montseratt, whoohoo! “Tramp, shutup! because you are not worthy to speak to me, much less join my family. That scene was my highlight. If Nina could lose the attitude against Miguel and Consuelo, I could mosey on over to her table. Her relationship with Regina isn’t the best, but she hasn't tried to undermine her. Joshua came from a rich, connected family so her narcissistic self saw him as a great catch for Regina even though he was a doofus. I can feel the nerfazos coming, but I like most of Nina’s clothes. They shout “Here I Am!” but she’s got the figure to pull it off and her hemlines are appropriate.

Interesting that offscreen Consuelo told Montseratt’s lackey neighbor about her pregnancy. That doesn’t make sense, though it does move the story along.

I'm surprised that scene was offscreen, but I guess that was because it was just Aldo.

Nina has been gaslighting Regina and if that's not undermining I don't know what is.

However, your point about Joshua explains a question I had when watching this episode. It explains part of her hatred of Consuelo, whom she knows is an orphan and therefore comes with no social connexions. More on this later through my alter-ego.

Gisela will have hell to pay later when Caridad finds out about this betrayal. There was a close-up of the trash can for a reason, so she is likely to find out about this before she gets out.

Niecie- Well, there was that little thing with Nina backing up Erick when he tried to frame the fraud on Gina, and Nina not seeming to give a damn when she found out. And backing up Josh and Dani's version of events, to make Gina look like an over-reacting brat, when she knew Dani and Josh played tonsil hockey. But I get ya. I would love to wind Nina up and let her go after people like the Rat. Heck, I even like to see her needle Art, because he IS on the slippery slope to an affair and evading her real concerns.

Urban- You're assessment of Nina's interactions with Gina were spot on, when this episode after Erick told her about Gina saving the day for the company she got annoyed, then got a real look of confusion on her face and said she doesn't understand Gina, because she is "so different from me." Yep. She wants her kids, especially her daughters, to be carbon copies of herself. How dare Gina care more about education, career, and work, than about men, fashion, and gossip?

That's exactly it, Vivi. Narcissists take things like this as a personal rejection.

Love your retelling Mauricio.

"Therapy would be a better help, but whatever, I guess toys might work"

Nina busting Erick and The Ratt was awesome. Though Nina prefers Erick over her other children doesn't seem she discriminates when it comes to an ass chewing.

I cannot help it, I love Daniela, come on little girl, get pissed, really pissed.

Chimp Boy - but mom, love transcends species

Julia - fact check; you cannot knock sense into someone's head

Clara - Consuelo isn't the problem the mop bucket is

Petra - Swiffer guru

Art - I'm not cheating Nina, for 25 years you were the "other woman"

Nina - on the next episode of "Snapped"

Eladio - damn, they told me kids prefer gift cards or bit coins to stock

Gisela - junk mail

Urban and Vivi - Good points. I had forgotten all Nina's hits against her youngest daughter. If Art were trying to help Nina, instead of trying to get away, he'd have a deep talk about how all the kids' differences should be respected. Miguel is a brainiac stalker, Erick is a doofus no-account, Daniela is a devious party girl, Regina is smart and hardworking. Meet each one of them where they are and help them reach their goals, not your goals. Probably futile, but he could give it a shot. I'll bet Nina is thinking "I only wish I had a mother who could've hooked me up with a rich dude, but I came up the tough way and had to snag Arturo all on my own."

Definitely futile.

I haven't heard the word "Narcissist" in the script yet, but that is what Nina is. Any shrink will tell you that these are the types that cannot be cured because they are incapable of seeing that there is anything wrong with themselves.

As to Miguel, I'd love to know what this character was like in the last version. Miguel is a techie and he fits a lot of the cliches about them: Thick glasses, nerdy look, socially awkward. He is independent of Dad's company and he chose to be. Regina made the same choice. Arturo has no problem with this; he's proud of both of them.

They rarely quote monetary figures so we don't know how much money Miguel makes. I'm betting he makes enough to live on his own but chooses to stay to support Regina and now to be there for Consuelo.

However, when Erick screws up the next time (and we know there will be a next time) I think Regina will be persuaded to join the company in his place. Nina will have a triple conniption over that.

Mauricio--You are awarded the STRIKE-OUT Trophy of the Year--or Decade, or whatever. They trump (sorry I had to use that word) the recap. No, actually they complete the recap. Ok, now with a second cup of coffee, I will settle down to read it (strike-outs first). Thank you, ahead of time.

Magnificent, Mauricio.
I don't usually do favorite quotes. Others cover them so well, but here are a few:

"Nina walks into the room and catches Erick with a naked Ratt." All rats are naked, but this one gave me a chuckle.

"...while Francisco may be efficient at what he does (and what does he do exactly?) no one and I mean no one is indispensable." Please, someone enlighten us. He hands in reports, when required and helps damsels and families in distress. Of course taking two days to help out a friend of a friend with a funeral is not the same as taking all the time in the world to lovingly harass Julia in the hospital and put her at risk even after being told not to visit her.

"...David getting a gift while he [Franco] gets a lump of coal nada. Ha!" This was the best one for opening up the possibility of some kind of sabotage against David. Never mind that David refused the gift--it was Eladio's thought that counted for Franco.

Franco's treatment of Clara and his comments to Francisco about Clara are so demeaning and low-class; but of course he considers himself way above that, being Eladio's godson.

I'm desperately waiting for word to get back to Artie about Erick and the naked Ratt's very public argument in the lobby of the hotel. It was excellent theatre. I almost wished Artie himself had seen it, or Regina, just arriving.

I'm sure the gutter press has covered it. If not my alter-ego will know it somehow even if only you are the audience for his comments. ;)

Mauricio: Finely tuned detail and great humor make this marvelous.

"...David returns his early Xmas gift, and Clara vows to travel from rags to riches" in your clever title was my favorite line.

The angst and anger continued but last night a sort of righteous indignation emitted from a surprising source. That was of course Nina, who erupted like a volcano, spewing venomous bile/lava after finding Erick and Montse. Even the thick skinned Monse felt her scorn and disdain. Interesting though that it was Connie's pregnancy that seemed the reason for her to break it off, not contemptuous mama.

I thought Monse had already decided Erick couldn't give her enough power, money and influence. Is she just passing time?

I wish Julia hadn't (rather pathetically) told David to accept his father's offer. Wouldn't it have been grand if she screamed at him to throw it back in Eladio's face?

Ahhh, Gisela. Yet another mother who does not love her child. Perhaps her daughter is better off in jail. What a homecoming she will have with her traitorous mother. Vivi, I can't agree enough when she realizes her mother conspired to keep her in jail. She obviously has no idea who her son is. I also suspect Franco will reject her immediately...

Great comments everyone. Anita, I especially enjoyed your "They trump (sorry I had to use that word) the recap". :)

Diana

Good evening everyone. Thank you so much for stopping by and joining in on the discussion. I'm glad that you all enjoyed the recap.

The best part- Nina catching Erick in bed with The Ratt. Then going off on The Ratt. And finally that scandalous scene Erick and The Ratt made in the hotel lobby. Where is the press when we need them the most?!

Franco is constantly picking on Francisco. I wonder why that is- does he see Francisco as an easy target? Good that Francisco doesn't take it and shouts back at him.

Clara's outburst at becoming someone important seemed to come out of nowhere. I wonder where this is going- if it goes anywhere, that is.

Also, Daniela now has a way of getting Regina into trouble- if she shows her parents the photo of Regina and David kissing. Or if she gives/sells it to the press.

More on Daniela...

If I were Petra, I wouldn't let her give me a makeover. Who knows what she'd make Petra wear- probably something too revealing. Que horror.

Thanks for the recap Mo.

Darn it! I missed the public scene between Erick and Montseratt.

Thanks so much, Mauricio. Complete, accurate and funny as all get-out!

I liked this episode a lot. The ever pragmatic Nina (aka Mrs. Bennet) is running true to form. Her outrage at Erick's behavior is based on her clear-sighted assessment of the consequences, as measured in loss of pesos and prestige. Meanwhile Arturo (Mr. Bennet) treats her as an annoying buzzing in his ears and focuses on his wise daughter Regina (Elizabeth Bennet) ... well, okay, when he's not busy obsessing about Julia.

The Erick/'Rat scenes were funny to watch and even funnier to read about in your recap.

So who tipped off the press? Could the hospital have filed a report of suspected spousal abuse? [Note to Eladio: When you're accused of violence, trying to kill the messenger is probably not your best defense.]

Mauricio, I wish Petra could hear your advice to her, although I for one am looking forward to her glamming up.

Mauricio you must know by now that your recaps are good but with this recap, you hit a bases loaded home run knocking the ball clear out of the park. I'm not even going to try to copy the great lines because--well, there were just too many of them. Needless to say this was a joy weekend read.

A couple of recaps ago there were a lot of comments condemning Gaby and Regina's attire. Attire that seemed to me to be every day normal. Nevertheless cries of shame and disgrace rose up from the patio. Cover up could be heard being shouted out in somewhat nasty tones. And then Friday nights episode aired and what did we see??? Yes, oh yes, it was Montse nearly half naked in all her beautiful glory. I haven't read a "that was shameful" comment yet. Could it be that Montse is portrayed as the bad girl while Gaby and Regina are not? Anyway I was laughing my head off last Friday. I can see why Erick can't seem to get enough of that. Montse I mean.

Diana---Julia should have thrown the company shares in Eladio's face. It would never happen. Julia wants so much to have a loving and normal life that any overture or thread oh hope that Eladio throws out in her direction she is willing to give it a try. That's why she urged David to accept Eladio's offer. I'm glad that David said no. Wait until Daniela sends the picture. Those Shares would soon have been revoked if David had accepted them.

Thanks for this excellent recap, Mauricio. Extremely funny and you have pretty well made that sly erasure/ strike-through thing your very own trademark style. I agree that this is one of your best. And the CCs were dismal so you certainly didn't get much help there. Good job.

Quick thoughts,

Arturo continues to gaslight poor Nina (I stand my ground, despite other opinions to the contrary).

Nina's outfits are stunningly beautiful (let's hope this is trendsetting).

I still don't see how Julia has managed to accomplish so much with her foundation despite her oppressive restrictive living arrangements and attenuated social life.

Erick is stealing this show.

Getting naked for sex behind a closed door is normal; we'll for get for a moment that this is sleazy adultery. Showing too much in public or dressing much younger than you are is quite different.

If Gaby is always pulling her skirt down every time she stands up (noted in the hospital waiting room scenes), that skirt is too short.

UA,

As opposed to non-sleazy adultery?

Carlos

Yes, oh yes, it was Montse nearly half naked in all her beautiful glory. I haven't read a "that was shameful" comment yet.

Gringo - I for one expect Montse to be nearly half naked. That's her stock and trade. If she showed up primly dressed, then I'd comment from the shock of it.

I'm fine with Regina's clothes. Sometimes too short, but I wore minis too back in the day.

As for Gaby, I don't see how the poor thing can relax. She is always tugging at her clothes to cover her buns.

Nina's outfits are tacky & cheap but her hemlines are appropriate for her age.

Dani's outfits are way too short & skanky but she is advertising her body and how hot she is. She's probably the youngest female on the show besides Luisita so she can get away with it.

Montserrat's outfits are skanky but she needs to be ready for sex at all times. Never know when Eladio will just let himself in and .... let himself in.

Gaby's outfits are too short and too tight to be going to class & working at the foundation. If you have to keep tugging on it, it's too short. I'm surprised Eladio hasn't told her to cover up.

Regina generally dresses appropriately but that dress she had on the other night was too short.
