Pasión y Poder Cap #89 Friday, Feb 19th 2016 I hope Erick chokes on those enchiladas

Nina confronts Julia for snatching her hubs from her by smacking her across the face after calling her a cualquiera (slut, tramp, whore, etc) of course.

Downtown, Erick's on the hot seat and his future is about to be decided. We find out that The Ratt's necklace has been disqualified as a piece of evidence. Pedro Tapia, the witness, now takes the stand, and must state whether or not Erick was the man who was arguing with The Ratt on the night of her extermination.

Julia denies the accusations. She's NOT a husband snatcher. Nina doesn't believe her and calls her out on the harm she's causing everyone, including her own offspring.

Tapia commits perjury and states that Erick isn't the man who was arguing with The Ratt on the night of her extermination. Detective is aghast at what he hears. Tapia states that the man he saw was shorter, fat, almost bald, and had an aquiline nose. Detective calls Tapia a BIG FAT LIAR. Judge reminds Tapia that perjury = many years in the pokey.

Nina tries to put Julia in her shoes. What if the roles were reversed and it was she (Nina) who was fooling around with Eladio. Julia says that if she knew and were sure that Eladio loved Nina then she (unlike Nina) would at least have the dignity to not lower herself by going to see Nina and smacking her around in her own home. Nina isn't so sure about that and honestly neither is this recapper. But Julia is sure that, that's what she'd do. Because she would have had put up with Eladio enough already to have to deal with Mrs. Purple Lips as well. Nina then accuses Julia of not caring if she's destroying the lives of their kids as long as she was able to be with Arturo.

Not even the threat of perjury makes Tapia change his statement. He insists that the man he saw was just like he described him. Well, at least that's what he thinks. It was dark, you see, but he is sure that he didn't see a Chimp (Erick) at the scene of the crime. Detective calls Tapia out on his BS and calls him a BIG FAT LIAR. He brings up how Tapia had already ID'd Erick as the aggressor when Detective had shown him a photo of Mr. Chimp. Detective smells a rat, and it's not the dead Ratt, but Arturo. Detective is sure that Arturo moved his influences around. Agustín challenges the Detective to cough up some proof to back up what he's implying. Before anymore shouting and yelling can start, the Judge (who is no Judge Judy) shuts them all up. Given the circumstances and Tapia's doubts, Tapia's statement can't be taken into account. Erick will be able to walk home a free Chimp, err a free man. Erick smiles and goes over to embrace his dad.

Julia asks Nina if she wants to hear the truth. Nina does want to hear the truth.  Okay, then, Julia begins her tale of love and betrayal. Once upon a time.... she loved Arturo with all her heart, but he destroyed her when he went and married Miguel's mama. All these years, she thought that she still loved Arturo. When she and him saw each other again, she felt that the love was reborn, and as much as she tried to fight it off, she just couldn't. When they saw each other in Puerta Vallarta (PV) they kissed. Nina interrupts.. she's sure that more than a kiss occurred.. for sure there was some hanky panky involved.. that's why Arturo returned home wanting a DIVORCE. Julia denies there having been any hanky panky and says that it's Nina's problem whether she believes her or not. Moving on.. Julia makes it clear to Nina that in PV she understood that her love for Arturo was only a memory and nothing more. And despite everything, she decided to give her marriage a chance. It was in PV where she realized that she loved Eladio. She loved him despite him having destroyed her with his mistreatment and infidelities. Nina wonders.. then how come Arturo keeps on insisting with her (Julia). Julia doesn't know. She just wants it to be clear to Nina that she has never given Arturo a reason to leave her. So if Nina wants to tell someone off then it should be Arturo and not her.

Detective smells a rat and knows that something was done so the witness would back down and Erick would be freed. He tries to get info from Agustín but gets nowhere, since Augie doesn't know what Arturo did. Then he confronts Arturo himself. Again, he gets nowhere, except for being told that he should do his job and find the man who cut the brakes off of Erick's car. Detective gives Erick the stinkeye before he leaves.

Nina still thinks that Julia and Arturo are fooling around. Julia denies it.. again. Nina thinks that Julia and Arturo are very selfish because they allowed Regina and David's love to grow and now they do this to their kids. Julia could care less what Nina thinks. All that Julia cares about is getting her son's affection back and that he find his happiness with Regina. Nina thinks that a relationship between Regina and David is impossible. Regina hates Julia and for sure the war between the families will be even worse now. Nina is sure that Eladio will want to get back at Arturo. Julia tells Nina that Eladio already knows what happened because she told him herself. So .. she's not going to continue to listen to Nina's crap. Julia calls Efraín to show Nina the door. But before that can happen Nina decides to leave on her own after throwing a threat at Julia.

Assmore will be advising Nina on whatever business decision she makes. Daniela tells Assmore how her mom will be fighting for what is theirs because they aren't about to let her dad spend his money on the other woman. Daniela tells Assmore that she and her mom are going to demand their GM shares.

Jorge tells Regina that she shouldn't let David force a kiss on her and pressure her. Regina tells Jorge that she and David have split and there's no turning back.

In Argentina, Marintia in tears talks to Caridad over the phone. Marintia has to stay in bed, the baby could be born before it's due, and his/her lung's haven't completely formed yet. Marintia had planned to work until the baby was due, but now won't be able to. Caridad offers to send Marintia her entire paycheck when she receives it.

Jorge sees the Regina/David breakup as some sort of hope for a future between him and Regina. Regina tells him that they can only be friends, and besides right now she's not in the mood to start another relationship. Jorge says, if only you'd let me get close... Regina asks him not to insist. He says, fine I won't. He tells her that he wants for her to know that he'll always be there for her, like when they were kids (and he helped her up when she fell off her bike, he protected her from other kids who picked on her, and he did something when her turtle died). He asks her to please let him be with her.

Franco informs Eladio that he's chosen a GLA house where he will move into. Eladio likes to hear that... together they will solve this. Franco wants Eladio to understand how difficult this is to him. Eladio tells him that it's being more difficult for himself. He tells Franco that if Julia forgives him, then it'll be easier for her to accept him, and then he'd be able to acknowledge him. Franco says that's what he would love the most.. but isn't sure if he should believe him. Eladio brings up "timing" and how everything has a moment. So Franco shouldn't be impatience.

Regina will always thank Jorge for what he did for her when they were kids. But she wants for him to understand that right now she wants nothing to do with men. Jorge gives his word that he'll only be her friend. He asks her to let him take care of her and be close. Regina doesn't want him to have the hope that this could be something else because that won't happen. Jorge says that he won't, and even if that were the case, and he winds up hurt, it wouldn't matter and he's willing to run that risk (famous last words, perhaps?). Regina tells him that it's not about running a risk. If she and David broke up it's because of the circumstances but she loves David.

Consuelo finds out from Agustín that Erick is a free man. She is glad with the news, but hopes that Erick won't make her life a living hell, like he told her he would. Miguel arrives with flowers for her and a stuffed bunny for Little Erick. Consuelo is all smiles. But tells him that it's best that he not come over. Miguel thinks it's unfair that his dad wants to separate him from her when he's out cheating on his wife and chasing after a married woman. So he won't obey his dad and won't stop seeing her because he loves her more each day. Smooches.

Ugh, more Jorge. Jorge wants to be Regina's support, says that they both have things in common, and have always gotten along so well. He hopes that she at least lets him be her shoulder to cry on. Regina doesn't think so, besides the hotels will soon be ready, and she'll be going back to the DF soon. Jorge says that he'll be going there too. He found a great project over there and thinks the DF is a great place where he can grow his company. Oh, great now he'll be stalking her all over the city. He hopes that once he's over there they'll be able to keep on seeing each other. I smell a stalker.

Consuelo and Miguel are about to get it on on the sofa, but Consuelo stops things before they get umm, more heated. She tells him that they have to control themselves. Miguel tells her that he can't be without her. She feels the same. But reminds him that it is the best for her son. Besides, Erick is a free man. Miguel tells her that they can't give up and have to fight for their love. Consuelo tells him that they can't be together for now. Miguel tells her that they should be prepared because for sure Erick will want to make their life a living hell. Little Erick cries and the two go into his room to see him.

Franco tells Caridad that Gaby wants to get close to her and asks her to please be discreet with the comments that she makes. Caridad tells him not to worry as she caresses his face. He asks her for more time to get used to them being closer and calls her mama. She says fine. He asks her if she knows anything about Marintia. She replies that she doesn't. He asks that she inform him when she gets news on her. He needs to talk to her and "keep everything under control". He tells Caridad how Eladio is against him more each day and lets her know how Eladio kicked him and Gaby to the curb.

Agustín wants to know what Arturo did to make the witness testify that it wasn't Erick who was arguing with The Ratt. Arturo tells him that if he would done something, he  sure as hell wouldn't tell him, because he knows that Agustín wouldn't be an accomplice of something like that. Agustín is disappointed in his pal and hardly recognizes him. First, Arturo didn't care about setting his family aside to be with Julia. And now, his pal doesn't stop himself in order to keep Erick out of prison. Agustín tells Arturo that he's not the Arturo he knows.

Luisita accepts Clara as a second mother. FF -->

Arturo asks Angeles to send a statement to TMZ where it says that Erick is no longer a suspect in the case of the dead Ratt. Hummy calls up Arturo and tells him that Eladio left the mansion and now he can come and see Julia anytime.

Eladio talks to Julia's photo. He is sure that Julia will end up realizing how much he loves her.

Simona informs Julia that her new mattress has arrived. Julia doesn't know if she did the right thing. Simona thinks she did. Simona leaves. Now alone, Julia talks to herself and doesn't understand why this had to happen when she was so happy with Eladio.

Consuelo comments on how fast Miguel made Little Erick go to sleep. Miguel says, maybe Little Erick feels the affection he feels for him. Or maybe Miguel is just boring. Consuelo says that she'll take care of her son always. Miguel wishes he could be with them everyday. Erick arrives and demands to know the Dummy is doing there.

Fanny and Nina talk about how HORRIBLE it must have been for Regina to have to witness her dad smooching the mother of her boyfriend. What pisses Nina off more is that Julia denies fooling around with her husband. Fanny says it's logical.. Julia will never admit to being a whore. Fanny lets Nina see that now that there is a witness to Arturo's adultery, it'll make the divorce easier for Nina. Fanny advises Nina to talk to her lawyer and put him up to date because this could play in her favor. Nina comments on how happy she is that Erick is a free man. Fanny wonders where he is because she wants to congratulate him.

Erick and Miguel bicker a little. Eventually, Consuelo asks Miguel to leave. Miguel leaves, but only because Consuelo asked him too. Erick asks Consuelo if she'll continue to deny that she and Miguel are fooling around. She denies it despite the fact that she and Miguel were getting cozy on the sofa just a few minutes ago. Short term memory, perhaps?! Consuelo tells Erick that she wants a DIVORCE. Erick says fine, he'll give her the divorce, but he gets Little Erick and she'll never see him again.

Hummy has let Arturo into the GL mansion. He leaves so Arturo and Julia can talk. When Julia descends the staircase she is shocked to find Arturo there. She asks him what he is doing there. He tells her that he needs to talk to her. She tells him that they have nothing to talk about. He tells her that he knows what she has told him. But is sure that she still feels that love that they both feel. He asks her for an opportunity and then forces a kiss on her. She gets him to back off. How dare he kiss her?! He tells her that he loves her and she tells him that there can't be anything between them. She tells him how Nina came to see her. He tells her the hell with Nina, Eladio, their kids, his kids, and the whole wide world. Julia tells him that she doesn't want him or Nina to step foot in her home ever again. She tells him that because of him her son doesn't want to see her anymore and that Regina broke up with David when she saw them smooching. Arturo says that R & D already had problems, and that they'll fix things if their love is real, just like their own love is real. She tries to get away, but he grabs her. He brings up what happened in PV and how they promised each other love. Julia is able to get away from him and heads upstairs as she tells him that she already explained all that. She kicks him out and tells him not to come back. He follows her up the stairs and seeing him following her makes her run up those stairs. Fortunately, he stops and doesn't follow her all the way up there. (Get a restraining order, Julia!)

Consuelo would NEVER give up her child. What she wants is to reach an agreement with him so they could both raise their child even if they are separated. Erick doesn't agree. She doesn't understand why he's behaving that way with her. He's the one that had a mistress, and told her that he didn't love her and was bored of her. He also told her that he didn't want to have a child. She asks him why he's doing all this. Is it to hurt her?! The bastard accepts that yeah he's doing it to hurt her. Die, Erick, die.

Agustín lets Miguel have it when he realizes that Miguel is coming from seeing Consuelo. Miguel asks Agustín to make Erick understand that what is best is to reach an agreement with Consuelo because right now he only has to think about his son.

Nina gets off the phone with her lawyer. The lawyer will use that Regina saw Arturo's adultery to fight for it all. Nina says that Arturo should at least pay with his wallet a part of the harm that he's causing the entire family.

Consuelo calls Erick a selfish bastard. Okay, not the bastard part, I made that part up. Agustín shows up. He wants to talk divorce with them. Erick says that he has his conditions and she tells Erick that she'll never accept them. Agustín tries to make them see that they should think about Little Erick and what's more convenient for him. Erick agrees with Agustín for the first time ever. Erick thinks Little Erick should stay with him, because with all due respect, Consuelo is a whore. Die, Erick, die.

Caridad confronts Eladio demanding to know why he kicked Franco and Gaby out of the GL mansion. Eladio laughs in her face. He tells her that her son (you know, the one who doesn't love her) already picked a great place where to move to. Besides, it's logical that he moved out, since he's married and should start a new life with his wife. Caridad is sure that what Franco wants instead of properties is Eladio's affection and to be acknowledged. They change the subject, and Caridad asks for Franco's new address. Eladio doesn't think it's a good idea for her to visit him. But Caridad tells him that her son is getting close to her and even called her mama.

Gaby and Franco are in their new home. Gaby thought that them moving into a new place would be different- that they'd have a dinner party for their loved ones when they moved in, but now they have nothing. Franco asks her to think that at least today she was able to get close to Julia. Franco tells Gaby that he loves Julia but if she doesn't want to see him then oh well. What he doesn't want is for Gaby to lose contact with her. That way Gaby could keep him informed. Informed?! Gaby asks. Informed about how things are going with Julia and David and if Julia wants to see him again. They go for another tour of the house.

Nina asks Petra to make the spicy enchiladas, that Erick loves. Petra asks about Arturo's gastritis. Nina tells her to forget about that. After all, Arturo will soon stop living there. Arturo arrives. Petra leaves. Arturo confronts her for having gone to see Julia. Nina replies that she went to see Julia to tell her off and that Julia told her what happened in PV. Arturo tells her that NOTHING happened.

Julia tells Hummy that David doesn't want to talk to her. Hummy asks Julia not to pressure David. He's sure that David and Regina will fix things in Monterrey. If not, well then David could find someone else. Julia doesn't think so. Her son knows how to love only one person. Hummy thinks that Julia should worry about herself and her future. Julia says that she's working, and while they may not have the luxuries they have there, they'll have everything they need. Hummy says that he wasn't talking about that. He was talking about how she's young and can find love again. He says that he'll never stop regretting having forced her to marry Eladio. Julia says that all she wants to do is forget Eladio. Hummy tells her to do it and brings up that Arturo came over. Julia tells him that she wants nada with Arturo. Because of him David isn't speaking to her and besides she doesn't love Arturo anymore. She tells Hummy that she doesn't know when or how but she fell in love with Eladio like it always should have been. Hummy says that she told her the same thing about Arturo when she was going to marry Eladio. Julia says that then she was young and didn't know what love really was. Hummy says, oh what I have learned about love. Love teaches you that it's all about free will and probably destiny put Arturo in her path for a reason.

Arturo tells Nina that he won't allow her to keep on making Julia feel bad. Nina tells him that he can't forbid her anything, especially when he's such a cad and doesn't even hide the fact that he goes to see Julia anymore. Arturo asks her to give her the divorce. Nina tells him that nope, he'll have to put up with her forever. Because even if they get a divorce he'll continue to see her at their businesses. Erick arrives. Erick whines to Arturo that Consuelo was alone with Miguel.

Caridad visits Gaby and Franco at their new home. She brings them a cross as a house warming gift. Franco acts cold with her and leaves to go to work. Caridad and Gaby talk and Gaby wishes that Julia would support them like Caridad has been doing.

Erick whines some more about Miguel and Arturo says that he'll have a talk with him. He leaves. Erick tells Nina that she doesn't know how much it affects him to think about Consuelo and Miguel. Oh, Nina does understand. She's going through the same with his dad and Julia. Nina tells Erick that Regina saw Arturo and Julia smooching. Erick wants to go and tell Arturo off but Nina stops him. She wants him to be by his side so he can find things out that could help her with the divorce. Erick will do it. Erick wants to change divorce lawyers and Nina says that she'll asks her lawyer to take over his divorce.

Arturo visits Miguel and scolds him for visiting Consuelo. Miguel tells Arturo that he's in no position to come and scold him. Arturo reminds Miguel that he's his DAD. Miguel could care less if Erick gets mad or not. He can't have considerations with someone who has always been an ass to him. Arturo tells Miguel that he's complicating things. Miguel asks him not to ask him to be nice to Erick when it's Arturo's fault that he (Miguel) doesn't like Erick. Miguel calls his dad out on always having allowed Nina and Erick to treat him like crap. Arturo accepts his fault and apologizes. He wants Miguel to at least do it for Consuelo because it will affect the divorce process. Okay, Miguel will do it for her, because he's the one that insists in seeing her. He doesn't want Arturo to think the worst of her. Arturo tells him that he just wants them to do things right. Then Arturo whines that he has nothing now and he doesn't want Miguel to have the same fate as him.

Great recap Mauricio! You didn't miss a thing! I love the title, my wishes exactly! And yes! You brought up a "Die, Erick, die" chant! That's what I was chanting during the scene in consuelo's apartment. He is such a despicable, spoiled, narcissistic, a*hole! After all the horrible things he did to consuelo and after claiming that the baby may not be his, he has the audacity to ask for the baby in exchange for the divorce?! I am counting down the days until he gets his anvil and ends up in prison with all the horrible things that happen to people in Mexican prison.

The list of people that don't disgust me gets shorter every episode.

I hate how Caridad has the audacity to walk into Eladio's office and screech at him about kicking Franco out. Oh boo hoo poor Franco and Gaby have to live in a free mini mansion. Caridad needs to go the same way of her mother and fall down a ditch.

Ok, time for bed, thank you again Mauricio for the excellent recap!

Ah Mauricio, you were on fire with this one. I could tell you were having fun just writing about this mess.

[detective] calls Tapia a BIG FAT LIAR

[Eric] walks home a free chimp.....and

ugh, more Jorge

My feelings exactly. I cringe whenever Jorge comes on the screen. You do smell a stalker indeed.

Also had to laugh when you claimed that Miguel put little Erick to sleep by being utterly boring. I understand that many here are Miguel fans, but alas, I find the actor himself so off-putting that I can barely stand to watch him pursuing Consuelo.

And mercy, if Marintia is penniless, she must have spent her last dime on that gorgeous peignoir she was wearing while wailing on the phone to Caridad about needing more cash.

From what I understand about the "infidelity rules" in this particular story, emotional infidelity doesn't qualify. Nor does making out madly and passionately. Only if you reach "criterion behavior" are you being unfaithful.

Not saying I agree with that. But that seems to be the yardstick that the characters (or the writers) are using.

Lots of people staking out the victim card: Julia, Nina, Miguel, Consuelo,Caridad, Franco and Lord have mercy! even Arturo. I loved how the episode ended with him wailing "Poor Meeeeee". Hope he takes a great big bite of those spicy enchiladas tonight. His victimology will be for real then.

Thanks so much Mauricio. Just a treat to read.

Thank you very much Mauricio!

1.) Bold Prediction: Erick will pull an OJ Simpson & kill either Connie or Miguel!

2.) Lily: You're so right. I'm also counting down the days until Erick receives his anvil.

The actor, who's portraying Erick, was the same dude who was on "Corona de Iagrimas", portraying a spoiled brat, who trashed his mother & 2 brothers!

Terrific Mauricio

"Simona informs Julia that her new mattress has arrived. Julia doesn't know if she did the right thing."

What was that about?????

Mauricio, this was wonderful. Truly.

"Nina isn't so sure about that and honestly neither is this recapper", "Detective smells a rat, and it's not the dead Ratt, but Arturo" and "the Judge (who is no Judge Judy" were my favorites.

I'm nonplussed at Arturo's behavior (along with everyone else). He clearly has lost any sense of there being appropriate boundaries that are not to be crossed.

Caridad makes me uncomfortable. She is being nice to Gaby while she aids and abets her son's mistress. If she was not having his child, I might understand her silence but Gaby is in for a world of hurt. I suppose she will likely find out herself. Perhaps for the best.

Susana continues to amaze - she is sensational and Luis, her "father"'s deceptively sweet face hides such unimaginable treachery, it's hard to look away.

Thank you!

Diana

Thanks, Mauricio. Terrific title and so much great flavor to your recap. My faves:

Okay, then, Julia begins her tale of love and betrayal. Once upon a time....

…and he did something when her turtle died. Dang, Jorge is pulling out all the stops to tug at Regina's heart.

Miguel says, maybe Little Erick feels the affection he feels for him. Consuelo comments on how fast Miguel made Little Erick go to sleep. Or maybe Miguel is just boring.

I’d prefer Miguel with Clara, but I like Consuelo and she wants Miguel so I’m going along with it. But when those two kissed, yuck. And when Miguel tried to get to third base on the couch, double yuck. I was actually grateful for Erick showing up with his foulness – more entertaining.

Kudos to Julia for kind of telling Nina all the truth. But she irks me with that superior tone she takes with Nina. Julia, expert on dignity? I think not. Didn't you once beg Montserrat to help you be rid of Eladio?

When Gaby stopped Franco from accidentally bumping his head on the stairwell ceiling, it could’ve been a sweet moment - if Franco weren’t an evil schemer. It seemed unscripted.

Yikes, Arturo has gone nuts. JudyB, I second Art taking a big bite of the spicy enchiladas.

Has impending motherhood changed Marintia for the better? Before, she seemed jazzed to give birth to Eladio's grandbaby for the $$$. But now she seems genuinely worried for her baby. But didn't she go to Argentina because her family is there? So why is she alone?

Variopinta - Julia didn't want to sleep on the mattress or any of the bedsheets she shared with Eladio, so she ordered Simona to replace them.

Gracias, Mauricio, and I agree that Erick needs to die.

Variopinta, in Thursday's episode Julia got rid of the mattress and bedding she shared with Eladio as a symbol of getting him out of her life. She made a point of making this request in front of him. That was before the scene of him telling his shrink he is afraid of going mad.

Julia handled the Nina situation well, which only makes Nina more angry and declassee.

As to "adultery" even in the the 60s you needed a detective and a photographer catching actual flagrante delicto action on film. Regina saw a kiss involving two fully-clothed adults not standing closely enough and her father was halfway out the door. Even if she were willing to testify on this before a judge in divorce court (is there such a thing in Mexico?) I doubt that would stand as a charge of adultery. David saw nothing and neither saw anything in PV. By the time all that happens I'm sure the two "kids" will have calmed down. When this much dinero is at stake better proof is needed.

Nothing had happened between Consuelo and Miguel, either. I'm glad to see that Augustin is firmly on her side.

Caridad is walking a tightrope and she's about to lose the parasol.

Arturo is about to lose his mind, but the way he watched the door when his secretary walked out says he may suspect her loyalty.

How is that necklace not a piece of evidence? They kept saying it was "unique" (The design doesn't look unique to me, but I make jewelry so what do I know?) and there were at least 20 guests who saw it.

The witness lied like a rug, but I think he was bribed before by Eladio or Callao. I haven't rewatched the episode but I think he saw Erick on the street sometime between his abuse of Consuelo and the murder.

Speculation: Based on Arturo's purchasing the shares Franco put on the market and what I think Nina and Daniela are planning there will be cross-ownership of both companies. That is a prep for my concept of an ending opposite from Shakespeare's. The red flame and blood images in the title sequence are another element of that possible equation.

Design questions:

-- Are upper-crust apartments in Mexico like the ones we're shown (not just in this series) where they are ridiculously open-plan? Shouldn't there be walls between kitchens, dining rooms, and living rooms?

-- The ceilings in the house Gaby and Franco are moving into look rather low. I just checked Danilo Carrera on Wiki and it says he is also a model. That beam should have been at least 18 inches higher. That he had to watch his head is ridiculous.

It looks like Eladio & Arturo are both going to end up in the manicomio while their wives enjoy their dinero.

Thanks for this Mauricio. Plenty of great observations.

"Arturo asks Angeles to send a statement to TMZ"

Niecie, thanks for reminding me of Julia's little visit to the Ratt.

Nina is the fourth wheel here and the wronged party and wished she wouldn't spoil things by running to bitch at Julia. Not that I didn't appreciate the bitch out but Nina could sit back and watch the rabble threesome and laugh on her way to the bank. Think, Nina, think.

I fail to see anything romantic in incessant cajoling.

I'm sure Miguel has practiced those moves on his blow up doll but thrown off when Connie moved under him.

Seriously, the relationship I have the most problem with is between Julia and Humberto. Proving to me Julia is a wee bit slow.

Boy, Franco got Caridad's number don't he

What really, really throws me off is Michelle Renaud's stock blank stare. There isn't any nuance that tells me, yes, no, maybe, hold on a minute I'm thinking, are you crazy, not in a million years. Nothing just duh, blank stare, so I kinda get Jorge taking from it whatever serves his purpose.

Mauricio---I'm glad that you are back, seems like a long absence but you came back with a flair.

Mrs. purple lips.

Erick will be able to walk home a free chimp, err a free man.

I smell a stalker.

Die, Erick, die.

I thought that the Clara/Luisita scene was sweet--I didn't FF

Your prediction Steve--maybe?

It was a little strange for me seeing Marlene Favela as Nina once again right after seeing her on Premio Lo Nuestro with a completely different look.

That was a pretty good slap that Nina gave Julia last night. I would really like to know how those slap scenes are done. Julia got slapped hard--it looked hard but not so mush as even a red cheek came from it. Was the makeup department on coffee break when that scene was shot?

Erick is playing hardball with Consuelo.
How did the baby end up with Erick's name? Was it on Nina's insistence?
So Erick wants custody because Consuelo is a whore? Really??? He isn't one himself?
He cheated, Consuelo didn't.

the gringo

Mauricio, thanks for that snappy recap.

I am so glad that none of these people are anywhere in my vicinity. They are all hamsters on wheels spinning around and around. Remember the definition of "crazy"... Doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results.

Nini's look has changed...no more heavy, bright lipstick..instead chapstick. Also, she seems to have packed away the animal
Prints in favor of more serious solid, dark colored clothing. Julia, however, is still wearing the cocktail dresses, heels, and minimal tasteful jewelry. She looks just like all our local TV weathergirls.

Well, I am sending my favorite song by The Weeknd out for all these lovesick puppies ..." I Can't Feel My Face." And Art, stop feeling Julia's face. She told you.."no."

A new mattress and sheets...verra subtle symbolism there..not.

I'm thinking what Erick is really after is Consuelo giving him her shares in order to be rid of him. Calling her a golfa when he knows full well that isn't true, part of his psychological torture campaign and playing on her insecurity due to her late mom's profession. Hope she and Augie go to Arturo because he's always been supportive of her.

Thanks so much for this light-hearted very amusing and informative recap, Mauricio. Very well done and very entertaining.

Erick had far and away the best line in this episode with this:

"You're right Agustín. For the first time I agree with you. He should remain with me... with all due respect, Consuelo... Consuelo is a whore."

Perhaps it was all wrong of me, but this made me grin from ear to ear... he's such a scamp.

As for Nina's visit to Julia, I thought she displayed a lot of class and self-restraint. Why should she have believed anything that Julia had to say?

Speaking of self-restraint, I'm amazed that Eladio hasn't had Callao take both Caridad and Humberto off to Puppy Lake.

Carlos

Ah..puppy lake. What tn was that ?

As for Monkeyman calling Consuelo a hoor, there are guys in real life who do this. ..turn reality around and assign their bad behaviors to their victims. I asked a psychologist about this phenomenon , and she made a twisting motion with her hand next to her head and said " They twist things around in their minds to escape responsibility for their actions...and they really believe it." No Monkeyman, you are the hoor.

I have to admit that Miguel is starting to jump on my nerves. Those sad puppy eyes and pathetic look. Get your alpha on, Miguel.

I got a kick out of Connie with her perfect hair and makeup in the little ,swingy, red dress. ...exactly how most mothers look those first days home with a newborn.

Thanks Mauricio. As usual, you are far more entertaining than the TN, and they have Video too!
Susanlynn said: "Connie with her perfect hair and makeup in the little ,swingy, red dress. ...exactly how"

What do you expect, she is a stay at home hoor.

Sorry, I'm just goofy today.

Good afternoon everyone! I'm glad that you all enjoyed the recap. Thank you for the comments.

Erick was at his worst last night. I liked him better when he was comatose. I hate how he got off the hook just because his dad is rich and was able to pay off the witness. I'm glad that at least the Detective knows that Erick is guilty, so I'm hoping he insists on proving it. Tapia and Erick could share a cell.

Why can't Arturo take NO for an answer? How many more times will Julia have to reject him before he gets it and stops stalking her?

Jorge moving to the DF can't lead to anything good. I kept expecting for David to pop up during the Jorge and Regina scenes. Was surprised that he didn't.

Good question- Where is Marintia's family?

Univision actually left out a scene last night. But don't worry, it was Justino and Clara. Justino asks Clara if it's alright that Luisita make her a mother's day gift. Clara says sure, she'd be happy to receive it. They decide to tell Luisita about their relationship, although Clara is worried that Luisita will reject her and won't want her to replace her mother. Luckily as we saw, Luisita accepted Clara, and we didn't have to go through many episodes of her rejecting Clara.

Mauricio, like gringo, I feel like you’ve been gone for a long time, but have come back with flair. I loved this, “Luisita accepts Clara as a second mother. FF -->” Yes, they’re just something FF about their whole relationship.  Oh well....Thanks Mauricio!

JudyB, love you comments on the "infidelity rules" in this particular story. Yes, “emotional infidelity doesn't (seem to) qualify.”

I really wish I didn’t feel like this, but Regina’s extreme inflexible and perverse approach to her relationship with David has made me close my heart to her and her el fin outcome. How can she be so very pig-headed with David and at the same time call him the love of her life? David is a dream date, husband and life partner, and she is throwing him away like a used McDonald’s wrapper. I wish young women could see how fast the worm turns and you become “invisible,” while men never become invisible. What a shame.

Vario, “It looks like Eladio & Arturo are both going to end up in the manicomio while their wives enjoy their dinero.” Yes, and Nina, loyal sap that she is, will faithfully visit Arturo daily bringing business journals and grandchildren photos, while Julia will be a thumbnail in the Mexico City newspaper ads featuring the $1,000,000 pesos real estate round table and besides a twinge or two, she’ll never look back.

The reason that Art does not understand " n.o." lies in a Michael MacDonald song.."What a Fool Believes, He Sees." I think this scenario happens often in real life as well. Art is used to getting what he wants, and I still maintain that Art is going through a massive midlife crisis and believng that he must get his onetruelove back to give his life meaning. As people get older, they tend to review their life's journey and question whether or not their path has led to a purposeful , meaningful life, the life they wanted to have when they set off on their path. Art has been successful in business , and he seems to have had a satisfying sex life with his beautiful, sexy wife. However, he has two children who have no moral compass or ambition , and he did not make his life's journey with the person whom he considers his soulmate . I think that he needs Julia to give his life meaning. ...or he is just a controlling, entitled , aging alpha male who cannot stand another alpha male having something \ someone he WANTS!

Judyb, my dear friend...and to think that Jimmy Cater was so upset about lusting in his heart. Sigh

"I liked Erick more when he was in a coma."

Ah Mauricio I'm laughing my head off. Yep, I liked him a lot better then too. Maybe we need to knock Arturo on the head and get a break from him for a while.

I'll tell you why Art can't take NO for an answer. Julia telling him NO is still talking to him so there's a chance. He knows it and she knows it.

Take our boy Jorge for example. Regina tells him NO but she's still answering his questions with lots of personal detail.

Scorched earth is the only way. Refuse to speak and damn sure don't let them in your door.

Ah poor Jimmy Carter. Yes, he was pilloried in the press about that remark. The pitfalls of candor when you're talking to the press.

Now, did anyone else get a "whah?..." feeling when Clara and whazziname did a sandwich hug with little Luisita? She looked like she was thinking, "Whoa, what did I get myself into? Can I have a do-over?"

Although I don't think the other fella is coming back [but I'm usually wrong in my predictions] but he was just so vanilla pudding, blancmange...I think that's why they shoved him off to the hinterlands.

Yes Judy, I saw the reluctant look on Clara's face during the sandwich hug. I can't imagine that the writers would introduce Clara as Luisita's new mom, with heavenly mom's star in the sky, and then take her away again! It must have been a bad tamale!

Judyb..Yes, I thought that Clara had an odd look on her face.

Sandy..I had the same idea. I hope that the writers are not going to break that little girl's heart again by having Clara back out of this relationship.

Tofie...I would love to see your signature one liners for these fools.

Mauricio, thank you milliones for the great recap! Yes, Die, Eric, Die is essential. You were so funny to point out that Miguel "bored lil Eric" to sleep. And even though most of us are on team Consuelo, you rightfully noted her short term memory Where did u go? Not good!!of her making out with Miguel moments before the a*hole showed up. All I can say about him is he is awful person, obnoxious and so overbearing schmuck.
Lily - Agree with you about Caridad, and poor Franco and Gaby moving into FREE mini mansion and playing victim role to get more! He only wants the GL name to get even more if not ALL Eladio's fortune. The boy is milking it!!!
JudyB-In spite that Miguel has suffered at his family's hands, I feel for him, But it drives me nuts when he and Consuelo start kissing, cant stand it. Like nails scratching a blackboard, just doesnt seem realistic or has any chemistry.
Diana-Caridad is playing bothsides of the fence. I think she will end up right in the middle of big mess and as always, she will be thrown under the bus by Franco or anyone really because nobody really cares about her.
Thanks to all the recappers from last week. I was a lurker due to time shortage, but I read all of them.
They were all amazing.
Thank you, Leticia

Susanlynn,
Yes, I'm glad you mentioned that weird look on Claritas face. What could that have been about? Second thoughts? or not into Luisita's father, but feeling obligated? I kinda saw her as go getter, which she can still be even if she marries, I guess I was really rooting for her to be do really well in business world. Ya know Francisco gonna show up, so we will have to watch Jorge pursue R and Clara explaining herself to Francisco. Fillers is what I guess they are.
Leticia

Either I have fallen into total Half-heimers, or a comment has disappeared!

I didn't notice the look on Clara's face. I'll go back and watch that scene again.

JudyB

"Maybe we need to knock Arturo on the head and get a break from him for a while."

I have to agree. We do need a break from him as well. Both he and Erick were at their worst last night.

Hi, I dont see my much earlier post, here it is, Sorry about that, some points already been made.....

Carlos,
About Nina's visit to Julia. I hope you dont't mind me saying that her even going to Julia's house was not dignified in itself, so I faul to see anything she said after that was a moot point. You are right about why she should believe anything Julia says, thats why she shouldn't even have asked.
Tofie has a very good point about Nina, she should just kick back let the threesome go crazy desintregate themselves and enjoy the money she will no doubt get from her divorce. She cant change anything at this point, so chill, wait. "Timing...Nina, Timing."

Anon,

Of course I don't mind you stating your opinion here. I welcome responses to my comments. I actually agree that her visiting Julia was not the wisest choice and could have even been dangerous. Under the circumstances, however, I thought maintained her dignity quite well. That said, I think that Arturo's visit was even less appropriate and I suspect that Julia felt much more troubled by Arturo's kiss than she did by Nina's slap. In any case, Simona must do a better job of screening Julia's guests.

Carlos

Yes it appears that Arturo hasn't gotten the message. If Julia is really serious, she should instruct the housekeeper not to let him in. If somehow he gets in anyway,
a loud get out with a flying vase or two should do the job. It did look to me however when Humberto was trying to get her to reconsider things concerning Arturo, she at least did seem to be thinking about it. Will Humberto be able to change her mind about Arturo? He will be putting on the full court press now. I know that is hard to do in a electric scooter but he's starting to give it a try. Kobe Humberto?

Yes---Chimp Boy Erick is the whore, not Consuelo. What if she were to take the baby and Leave the DF behind? No, I can't see her doing that. It appears that Consuelo is going to be in for some rough time. She has been through it before and it now looks like she will be in for more.

Who named the baby Erick? is it official?

Yes Tofie, why have you quit your one liners?

I thought that the look on Clara's face was a look of fear that little Luisita might not accept her as the new/2nd mother.

I loved Franco and Gaby's new digs. And it's FREE! Franco want's more? Gaby doesn't have him figured out yet. Boy is she going to be hurt.

Hi Mauricio! So glad you are back and entertaining us once more and with many thanks for that!

Arturo is definitely becoming quite scary and obsessive where Julia is concerned, not to mention in just about every other way as well. I think he deserves Hummy as a companion.

Susanlynn - Miguel, whom I've always stood up for has, I would agree, been disappointing of late and certainly could use a good shot of Alpha. He and Consuelo need to get the hell out of Dodge and take the baby with them.

The coma didn't help Erick at all - I think his brain just settled back into default mode. I thought that Nina named the baby by rudely overriding Consuelo's choices and I can't remember what they were now.

Still hoping for the Eladio/Julia reconciliation and wondering when he'll kick Carrida
out - she's so cloying and a real troublemaker and must just be a giant thorn in Julia's side....doesn't he get that? When will Marintia reappear? Carrying the baby and snuggling up to Franco? Eladio may return to his former behavior and leave the shrink sleeping on the couch if that happens. But whatever happens, this is a great cast and there's some very excellent acting going on and that along with this plot is entirely fascinating to watch.

Gale

Susanlynn and Gringo. I've been traveling in and out of country and missing episodes frequently sometimes a week at a time. Of the 4 show lineup this show the most ripe so when I get settled, watch out.

Tofie: I do strongly believe Francisco will return & demand answers from Clara!

Gringo: Erick IS the OJ Simpson of this TN. Getting away with the Ratt's murder likely emboldens him to up the ante & killing again.

Carlos: Caridad keeps sticking her nose where it does NOT belong. I could see her ending up like Gisela!

My knee-jerk reaction to Franco is that he has lots more than he would have had if Gisela hadn't sold him to Eladio (not that this justifies her action, in view of future motives). His shares in GLA are worth millions, he's getting a free house and penthouse, he has a devoted wife and a key position in his company.

Is that outweighed by not being acknowledged? If this were 200 years ago, I'd say not. What would be his legal position over this now? Are Mexican parents legally obliged to divide their estates equally among their children?

Given a lot of the 1950s attitudes the writers didn't update I really wonder about this.

What I can safely predict is that Julia will turn against him when she finds out that he has known of his paternity for at least seven months. She might even turn against Gabriela for not telling her.

So good to have you back, Mauricio! And you returned with a bang: a detailed and vivid recap with witty commentary! Gracias por compartir su talento con nosotros

Arturo has been a lousy husband to all his wives, what makes him think he'll make another man's wife happy? I know they say third time's the charm but, judging from how he's treating his current wife of 25 years and mother of his 3 children, you never know how he might react with "Julia, Wife Number Three" if he bumps into another puppy love of his and decides she's the one. Maybe some time after marrying Julia, Randy Boy Arturo meets his highschool crush, Jenny With The Big Tatas, or his junior-high sweetheart, María Laura With The Golden Mane, and he decides that this old puppy love is his felicidad and OneTrueLove! Arturo is the male version of a flaky floozy and he has stalker tendencies to boot! I agree that he needs a restraining order but I believe that a good old-fashioned beating might help reattach his loose screws and resettle his volatile hormones!

Speaking of stalkers, I figured out what bothers me the most about Miguel: it's that squinting look that seems permanently tattooed on his face. He reminds me of a creepy guy that used to get on/off at the same Tube station as my roommate and me. He would fix us intently with that squinty intense stare for almost the entire ride. Brrrrrr! We called him "The Piccadilly Line Stalker".

Anybody else got tired of the constant whinging of Gabi and Franco, over these last 2 episodes? Eladio gave them a fifth of GLA (they are in effect millionaires!), he offered them a luxury penthouse for their wedding (a wedding he paid for btw!) and until their penthouse is ready, he puts at their disposition the entire catalogue of finalized GLA properties to pick a house to move into as his gift to them. What are these spoilt self-entitled brats crying about? And Caridad enables them? If I were Eladio, I'd be like: "Y'all gotta get out of my house, my company and my life! I have enough aggravation as it is!"

I do appreciate Gabi for one thing though (perhaps the only useful thing she did during the run of this TN): She told her sanctimonious aunt in the previous episode that she had a big part to play in the crisis that the GL couple is going through. Indeed, Gabi reproached Julia for loving Arturo and rejecting her husband all those years, for doing her own naughty things ("Tú también hiciste lo tuyo"), and for not forgiving a mistake that was committed over 20 years ago. Just like Tofie said earlier, I feel that Julia is not giving Arturo a firm enough rejection. She is keeping the door open the way she's kept it even when things started to get better between her and Eladio (remember those scenes at the Foundation?). She has not decided to end things with Eladio either. Me thinks Julia likes to see these two strapping handsome idiots fight over her.

Last but not least, a car accident, 6+ months in a coma and the near condemnation to a life sentence did nothing to attenuate Chimp Boy's dumbassery! It's as if surviving all these obstacles made him earn bonus points and he moved to the next level of the video game with extra idiot powers! He's Super Chimp Boy with a new Tintin hairstyle to prove it. Doesn't hairstyle change in TN world mean an evolution of the character? Well, Erick evolved alright! He moved a few notches up the A-hole Scale!

-- A quote from the capítulo --

El tiempo desplegará lo que la astucia esconde” *

* Eladio lecturing Franco about the importance of timing and about the ineluctable fact that the truth always gets revealed: “Time will unfold what astuteness (cunning) conceals”. (I really liked the turn of phrase in Spanish)

Desplegar = to unfold, to unfurl, to spread out.

Astucia = astuteness, ingenuity. Also means: ruse, cunning, guile.

Esconder = to hide, to conceal.

UA...Yes, Franco has not done so badly, and now watch the greedy guy throw a good life away. Estupido, cutting off his own nose to spite his face.

I was just reading on another site that in history ,bastard sons in England often became men of wealth and position without as much stigma as might be imagined.

Hi, Nandicta. I always enjoy your comments and always learn something. I liked that saying "Time will unfold what cunning conceals.". How true.

Hiya, Susanlynn! You're welcome, amiga. You know the respect and appreciation is mutual. :)

I had never heard that phrase before. I googled it after watching the episode and as far as I can tell, it's an original Eladio quote.

Enjoy your Sunday, Patio Pals! Catch you all mañana! :)

Nandicta: My Bold Prediction:

Regina will be the last Montenegro standing when all the dust settles!

You've heard it here first!

Oh, no doubt that bastard sons of English and French royalty often had titles and wealth they might not otherwise have had, but that's another era altogether.

Let's look at James Fitzroy, the oldest bastard son of Charles II of England who became the Duke of Monmouth. Charles had no legitimate offspring. There were rumors that he married Lucy Walter (James' mother), but the king later said he had never been married to any woman other than his queen. Bastard sons could not inherit the throne in those days (I doubt that's any different now). Monmouth ultimately led a rebellion to depose his uncle James from the throne a mere four months after Charles' death. He was tried and executed for treason.

Franco's situation is very different in the 21st century. He has a (slightly) older brother. There is no legal impediment to his inheriting anything, especially if there is a DNA test to prove paternity. Nobody bats an eye over captains of industry having bastard children. Nobody cares if anyone is born illegitimate anymore. So I guess now the one thing that prevents Eladio from acknowledging him is the fact that this could out him as an abusive husband because he kept this secret from Julia -- as well as from Franco -- for all these years.

He wasn't made to sleep in a closet space under the stairs. He had a luxurious bedroom and a good education. I'm sure his childhood toys were the same as David's. I doubt that Julia mistreated him in view of her inability to have more children. We were not told why he was not officially adopted, but I suspect that Eladio's treatment of Julia would probably have been investigated.

If Humberto had ever visited the mansion during the 20 years prior to the curtain going up I can imagine how he treated little Franco.

As for Franco's current resentments about all this I guess not having the status of being Eladio's child was something he felt in some way. He certainly knew because he had to have had some memory of bring brought to the mansion. He was 3! How is it he didn't remember Caridad and Gisela?

I guess all that's left to decide is whether what he's been given is adequate compensation or whether he deserves more. I would say he deserves more, but certainly not the whole enchilada.

To add a missing point to my previous post: All of his current nefarious actions might have been prevented had he known sooner that he is Eladio's son and had he been acknowledged. Since he was the one to put the hit on Erick, he will end up with nothing. Including Gabriela, whom he will lose when she finds out about Marintia. That's a secret ripe for exposure.

Now to the Montenegro brothers....

I wonder whether Miguel's squint comes from his need to scrutinize other people for their motives for doing things. He certainly learned wariness from Nina's irrational hatred of him and her enabling of Erick and Daniel's abusive treatment. No matter what was said in the last episode (which defies logic) I don't think Arturo actually witnessed anything until relatively recently. More likely he tried to tell him and Arturo -- like most husbands in that situation -- was told by Nina that "He's making this up to get attention" or something similar.

Erick's hair... Interestingly, this is the first time I've seen that actor brush his hair back like that. I had been assuming that the near-bangs were to cover up a rug (in view of how the rest of the hair was combed). Now I realize that it was combed forward to make his forehead look lower because the better-exposed foreheads of all the other men in this series make them all look more intelligent than Erick is perceived by us.

In 18th century England and Scotland, if a married woman bore another man's child, that child was legally the husband's child. I also think that the fate of a bastard child of a nobleman depended on whether or not the father acknowledged the child or not.

Gayle---Eladio may return to his former behavior and leave the shrink sleeping on the couch. Wow! I never thought of that but you might have something there.

Nandicta---Your last paragraph on Chimp Boy said it all. Muy perfecto.

From the way that the writers are presenting the story to us, I think that it would be pretty safe to believe, percentage wise, that Erick was the one responsible for the Ratt's demise, whether by accident or otherwise. It still remains a mystery however because no one actually saw what really happened. Wouldn't it be interesting
if it wasn't Erick after all?

SusanLynn, I think that situation was to the cuckolded husband's advantage when a king would compensate him with a title, an estate, and wealth. This doesn't cover Eladio and Franco in the 21st century. Especially since there was no possibility of Caridad's husband being the sperm donor for Franco. That was what led to her ending up in prison.

Gringo, Erick certainly acted guilty when he ran to PV the day or 2nd day after the Rat's demise. However, his account of the "accident" as he told it to Nina doesn't jive with what we saw at the end of episode 42 or with the forensic report that said she had to have been lifted and thrown from the balcony. She didn't scream on the way down and if she had passed out before falling she would have landed closer to the building.

Also, he had no motive for the murder. The only person who really had motive at that point was Eladio.

Mauricio--The long dry spell is over. Thank you for your most excellent recap.

Yes, the detective had it right--Tapia identified Erick from a PHOTO! Well, eyewitness accounts are very often wrong, as modern research has reported. I hope this is not the last we see of the investigation.

I also believe now it wasn't Erick that Orkin-ed the Ratt. But, if it indeed happened the way Erick "saw" it--fell over the balcony, it truly was an accident. However, Viewerville has "proof" and UA to remind us, that what we saw is not what Erick saw in his flashback, "death-bed" confession to his mother. Learning the day after TheRatt's demise that his argument with her had deadly consequences and he was wanted for questioning, he freaked out and fled, knowing he'd surely end up back in jail (and he knew what that was like).

UA--"He was 3! How is it he didn't remember Caridad and Gisela?" For some children, early memories are permanently fixed in their brains. For others, especially if the particular memory isn't reinforced after that, it may fade. My grandson, barely remembers a family trip to Disneyworld on the Autotrain, Kennedy Space Center, St. Augustine, Charleston, Kitty Hawk, and Williamsburg we made when he was 12. He'd never seen the photos his father took. When I showed him mine about a year ago, a lot began to come back, but mostly he was looking at someone besides himself in those photos. His younger brother, 6 at the time, doesn't remember anything.

I think that it is time for Art yand perhaps Eladio to listen to "She's Gone" by Hall and Oates! Or is it possible that Julia could forgive Eladio in time because she has admitted that she loves him.

UA,

"He was 3! How is it he didn't remember Caridad and Gisela?"

Anita is quite right.

I would have been surprised if he had any more than a very vague memory of either because of the well known phenomenon described by Freud as infantile amnesia. Very few people retain any memories of their lives prior to age 3 and only a few memories of events prior to age 6 or even age 8.

Carlos

Carlos, I don't remember much prior to my first day of kindergarten which was a month before I was 5. Yet I know two people who claim to remember things going back to being a year old. One also claims to have a 19% higher IQ than I do. I guess I was stupid enough to make any assumption that those two things could be related and deserve my low IQ.

The point about reinforcement does make sense, but it had to have been weird to Franco long before this to have been told his parents died in an accident and for there to be no photos of them in anyone's possession. When we think to the next step, though, when we have a situation where two or three of the primary four adults in this story have no siblings or living parents that probably shouldn't seem bizarre.

I also thought it was time to update the Official Secrets List. If I forgot anything please advise.

Consuelo's (from most people): Prostitute mother/raised in a brothel before being in the orphanage Revealed
Arturo's (from his family): That he had a great love before Nina plus his secret meetings with Julia (First now known but not the second... yet) Details of the second not known yet
New (from everyone): Bribing of witness to not identify Erick the night that Orkin came to call; that Humberto told him that Franco was Eladio's bastard
Julia (from Eladio): Secret meetings with Arturo Details probably not known yet
-- New: That Arturo told her about Franco (probably next revelation)
Humberto: That he told Arturo about Franco.
Eladio/Gisela (from everyone): That Franco is Eladio's illegitimate son Revealed
Gisela (from Caridad): That she sold Franco to Eladio for a monthly allowance Revealed
Monserrat (from Eladio): That she was cheating on him with Chimp Boy. This is probably what got her offed. Revealed
Eladio (from Julia): All his affairs and crooked deals (she now knows about the first but not the second) Some secrets still pending
New: His entire past
Erick (from Consuelo): His affair with the Rat Revealed
– New (from everyone): What really happened the night that Orkin came to call
Miguel: His love for Consuelo (no longer a secret from Arturo, Regina; Erick seems to know) Revealed
Gabriela (this is a maybe): That she's boinking Franco Revealed and resolved
– New (from Julia): That she knew six months before the wedding that Franco is Eladio's son
Franco: That he is cheating on Gaby with Marintia Currently known only to Caridad and Eladio due to Marintia's pregnancy
– New (from Julia): That he knew six months before the wedding that he is Eladio's son
Maribel: That she was dying (known only to Clara) Resolved
Clara (unknown to everyone, including her): Origin
Daniela (from everyone except Nina):: That she is boinking Assmore but Augustin is suspicious
Nina: Details of her past beyond her brief acting career.
Marintia (known only to Caridad): Pregnancy and present location.

UA--I agree with you on the curiosity that Franco had never had any photos of his supposed parents in his possession. If Eladio "knew" the family--they worked for him, took in a 3-year old child, it would make sense for him to at least have some photographic memory of his parents. Eladio would have had to make it up--NOT using Caridad as the mother.

Maybe as a young adult, he should have been more than just curious.

Even Caridad, Consuelo, Clara, besides Eladio, Arturo and Nina do not seem to have any living family. I do think it is bizarre, except in telenovelas.

Ooooh, Official Secrets. I'll have to read right now!

This was most recently the case in LSdP. Neither protagonist had living grandparents, Cristobal's parents both seemed to be only children, and Aldonza's parents had one sibling each, neither of whom were married or parents.

Must be for simplicity's sake so the writers don't have too many characters to keep track of.

You could say Arturo and Eladio made enough future living antecedents for their future grandchildren and great-grandchildren to fill a page in Ancestry dot comma!

Great list. I for one, still would like to know specifically WHAT it was that Eladio told Callao to do while they were parked outside of TheRatt's apartment the night she was thrown overboard.

Also still secret from everyone else is that Erick arranged for the beatdown of Franco, which lead to Franco arranging to have the gasoline lines on Erick's car cut. He wanted (and still wants, maybe) for Erick to Die Erick Die.

Good point, Anita. I will add that to my word doc for the next update.

UA,

And don't forget that Angeles is betraying Arturo and didn't Arturo make some sort of sneaky deal with Franco by blackmailing him with a recording he made during a meeting he had with Franco in his office?

Carlos

Carolos, good point about Angeles selling out her boss to Franco. You connected some dots there because Arturo catching his offer with the recording would have been the reason Franco started bribing Angeles for the inside info.

Hi everyone,

Reading the comments, I can see were are all "must watch tv."

I wanted to share the exciting news that I just came back from feasting my eyes on Gabriel Soto!!!!

He was in town for a local business celebrating a 30 year anniversay. With store purchase you could wait in line to take photo with him. The line was too long but I managed to get standing spot about 4 feet away from him. He was friendly, smiley, affable and very good sport, lots of kisses and hugs from fans.

He was wearing sunglasses but at one point he removed them and his eyes were the lightest bluest eyes I ever seen. Gorgegous man.

Ok, just needed to share my excitement with my patio peeps because my friends dont watch novelas and I just had to tell someone.

UA - Thanks for refreshing my memory with your list. In addition to Nina, Erick knows about Dani and Ashmore.

Agree it's normal not to retain memories before age 3, but sometimes the very young do remember traumatic events. I've been wondering if something will trigger Franco to remember Caridad's husband assaulting him and her deadly sartenazo.

Leticia - Wow, meeting Gabriel Soto!

OOhh ,Leticia, lucky you meeting Gabriel Soto. We just got back from an Il Volo concert..such young guys with such powerful voices singing verra romantic songs.

Thanks Niece, I didn't get to meet him, just lucky enough to have great vantage view of him. He wears his jeans so well, his physique is incredible.

Susanlynn, Il Volo, you're so lucky! I
Like them alot, I have one of their cd's. I notice you mention alot of the groups that I like as well. I also saw Toby Keith perform at our Rodeo on Monday. So I got to see two of my fave hunks.
Leticia

Leticia---Four feet from Gabriel Soto, How exciting. I was four feet from Dulce Maria and she answered the question that I asked her but it was mass chaos, a mob scene not a nice photo shoot. She was heading for the exit muy pronto. I also was lucky to be in the right place at the right time and got to shake hands with Pablo Lyle just a few seconds before he got mobbed. I didn't notice the color of his eyes though.

Urban---Another secret or an unsolved mystery. Consuelo came home after confronting the Ratt at the party and then a short time later jumped in a white jeep and left in a hurry. It was never revealed where she went or what she did but it was probably around that time when the Ratt met her fate.

the gringo

OK; it looks like I will need to repost the list tomorrow and perhaps update it weekly until the end.

Gringo, as to your latest entry I'm going to bet that she drove around and came back before the Rat was exterminated. She would not have had the strength to heave her off the balcony and would not have risked the loss of her baby.

Gringo, I am googling dulce maria, I remember the name not her face though. Pablo Lyle I remember well.

I had asked the Consuelo question awhile back, yes, she got back home then said "esto no se vas quedar asi." "This is not going to stay like this". She jumped behind the wheel and took off, its implied she went back to Monste's but left out what happened on her arrival. I have feeling that will resurface, somehow, but dont know how.

Mauricio, this was a very aggravating very annoying disgusting episode but you did a really good job recapping with what you had to work with. Arturo is a gigantic ass. If he
Was set to be the good guy, well he ain't hittin it. As messed up as eladio is I kinda like Him better right now. Im late here, didn't get to see the epi, but I just read the recap. Baby Its messed up.( the episode not the recap, the recap is good thank you by the way). Artty has pretty much just crapped on everybody that could have a chance at Having a semblance of any kind of a good relationship.

I can't stand erick. He is such a spoiled braty
Mommas boy, hes disgusting. I feel sorry for
Julia, shes surrounded by a bunch of idiotic
Men, her crooked dad, her hot headed son, her Weaselly godson, her sneaky husband (I
Still like him better than artty right now) hes
Just not the one whose hurtin her right now.
yes he kind of started it but its like right now he stepped off a bit and Arturo is doing all the crappin on her.
I'll try to get in on it sooner on the next episode. Thanks again Mauricio.

I think the FATAL ATTRACTION gene runs in Montengro family. Art is the worst one, then Eric, Dani, and even Miguelito (xcept he is not evil)

La "astucia" trait is seen in Eladio and franco.

Thanks Nandicta, for writing, spelling, and explaining the Eladio quote. I kept rewinding over and over, couldn't quite figure it out and I really wanted to know what he was saying because I knew it was a good one coming from him. So thank you, I really appreciated that.

Arturo wasn't the one who let Julia's poor canaries fly into danger.

I dearly hope Consuelo tells him about how Erick is demanding she give up the baby and how Nina is making her life a living hell. She needs to get building security to not let them in.

--Leticia: Wow! Lucky you getting to feast your eyes on that fine specimen! I personally prefer and find myself more physically attracted to morenos (dark eyes, dark hair, any shade of darker skin from olive to chocolate brown) because that's "my type" so to speak, but I acknowledge beauty and sex-appeal in all its forms and Gabriel Soto is a regulation hottie!
Thanks for sharing this with us and I'm glad you enjoyed the Eladio quote. :)

-- UA: Arturo did not free the canaries that Julia herself attempted to free in Episode 1, he just:

1) impregnated another woman when he was engaged and loved (emotional and physical love) by Julia. He also compromised Julia's reputation by visiting her before her wedding to Eladio giving rise to doubts about David's paternity (N.B. Arturo was married to Susanna at the time he tried to dissuade his ex-fiancée from moving on with her life). (Revealed)

2) accused Eladio of embezzlement to fire him from his father's company out of jealousy. (the more I know Arturo the more I believe Eladio's side of the story). In Episode 68, when Arturo and Eladio decided to join forces to prevent Ashmore from taking advantage of them, Eladio admitted that he may have played tricks at times (tramposo) but he's done things out in the open while Arturo pretends to be decent and does terrible things under the table. Eladio then reminded Arturo that he knows very well who Arturo is and asked him cryptically: "Do you remember?", at which point Arturo gets mad, opens his office door and asks Eladio to leave or their truce will end before it has even started. (This conversation occurred minutes 13:39 to 14:40 in Episode 68).

3) bribed Ashmore to get the hydroelectrics deal (Revealed but no legal pursuits by GLA... yet) then screwed Ashmore denying him the full bribe initially agreed (Not Revealed to anyone other than Ashmore. Consequences of this betrayal yet to be seen).

4) Leaked (paid the reporters?) a story accusing Eladio of murdering his mentor Frank Smith (or Schmidt) on the day the election of President of "La Asociación
de Empresarios
" took place (Not Revealed that Arturo was behind the public slander).

5) Took advantage of every opportunity he can get to provoke Eladio and demand that he give up his wife Julia so that Arturo can convert her into wife n°3 (or mistress, or sex toy or whatever the heck he had in mind for her). Too many instances to cite them all here but what our dear Cynderella called "The Golf Summit" and the instance at "La Asociación de Empresarios" where Arturo brazenly demanded that Eladio give him his wife, are examples that particularly stick out for me, because Arturo should've been punched senseless for such chutzpah but surprisingly he was not (Revealed to us and Eladio. Partially to Julia and not at all to Nina).

6) Treated David like crap and insulted him repeatedly because he needed him to break up with Regina in order for Arturo to "win over" David's mom (Revealed).

7) Offered to buy Julia off her dad if the latter succeeds in separating and/or divorcing his daughter from her current husband. He promised to buy the addicted gambler his own casino if he can give Julia to Arturo. Humberto is helping Arturo stalk Julia, now that she is separated from her husband (Not Revealed).

(to be continued)

(Continued)

In conclusion, Eladio is an arse but Arturo is a much much much bigger arse! At least Eladio recognizes how messed up he is and how awful his past and present mistakes are. Arturo, on the other hand, is firmly convinced that he is a blanca paloma, head-and-shoulders above everyone else, irreproachable, decent, honest and morally superior to the desgraciado that Eladio is. Maybe this kind of behavior does not classify as narcissism per se but personally I see it as "arse-issism" at its finest, coupled with delusions of grandeur, pathological arrogance and a blatant disregard for other people's feelings (including his own children)!

This here is my personal assessment of the Arturo character and though I cannot stand him, I do realize that he has his fans here in the Patio and that's cool, en gustos se rompen géneros, to each his own. :)
However, the bullet points outlined in my previous post are not personal speculation, these are events, facts and statements that actually occurred in previous episodes; though the conversation in bullet point n°2 is open to interpretation.

Hope everyone has a lovely and productive day! Que les vaya bien! :)

1. The only person who saw any compromise in that situation was Eladio. Have you forgotten what a sick control freak he was (and could be again)?

2. We don't know the original source of the embezzlement accusation. That could have come from Arturo's father, who was less tolerant of people who were "not of our class."

3. Not that I think this was the right thing to do but Assmore plays dirty, perhaps more so than either Eladio or Arturo is capable of. I still wonder whether this character is in the series to insult gringos.

4. The embezzlement accusation and the Frank Smith (Schmidt?) accusation are probably related in the past. We don't have enough details but was Smith an accomplice or Eladio's mentor in Machiavellian business? This also balances out the leak to the press from Eladio/Franco about Erick and the Rat.

5. Both are guilty of this crime.

6. His treatment of David was initiated by the revelation that he had previously been involved with Daniela, which came on the heels of the guilt trip that little brat played on him. Any father would be weirded out by this, but the timing of this made him come down too hard on both David (whom he had previously approved of) and Regina.

7. I didn't interpret Arturo's offer to literally mean that he would buy Humberto his own casino. I heard "enough to buy your own casino." Not that this offer is a good idea in any respect.

I still firmly believe that Eladio's willingness to marry Julia despite knowing she didn't love him, his rape of her on their wedding night (without the excuse of drunkenness), his sick controlling behavior of her for 25 years (after 20+ years of Humberto's abuse), his callous behavior toward David (including the 20-year refusal to have a DNA test), his sneaking his bastard son into the house and having her raise him ignorant of the connexion far outweigh any wrong of Arturo's. If we can buy any of Daniela's rants about being ignored by her parents, we also must believe that Eladio's treatment of David will have lasting effects no matter what intellectual conclusions David comes to about them.

If you watch Eladio's gestures and his tight facial expressions, he's a pressure cooker with the lid on too tight. He's going to explode eventually.

I do agree with everyone right now that Julia should avoid both of them. She needs to spread the wings she's growing. She also needs to put Humberto into Shady Pines.

Nandicta, you are right Arturo does not see any of his faults and he does truly believe he is blameless and above everybody. He will not give up his pursuit of Julia to death cause he gotta have what he gotta have y punto. UA is well versed on narcissism, what do you think, Urban? is Art a narcisstic fool. Is he plain mad, as in cazy?

Leticia

I was typing at the same tine UA. After reading you and Nandicta's brilliant observations, I come to conclusion that both are bad choices for Julia. I was almost on Team Eladio, but it always bugged me that yes, his tight jaw reveal that he is like pressure cooker and will explode in a very bad way. The fact that he is still lying to Julia even small ways is not a good thing.
De tantos, no se hace un bueno companero para Julia ni Nina. (:

Nandicta, loved your observations:"Arturo on the other hand is firmly convinced that he is a" blanca paloma", head and shoulders above everyone else, irreproachable, decent, honest, and morally superior to the desgraciado, that Eladio is. Maybe this kind of behavior does not classify as narcissism per se but personally I see it as arse-issism at its finest coupled with delusions of grandeur, pathological arrogance and a blatant disregard for other people's feelings, (including his children"). girl you said a mouthful right there that's exactly the way I see him. I can't stand him.

UA, you also make a good point. What eladio
Did was horrible. Rape is never a good thing
To do cuz you're mad at wife cuz shes in love with someone else, not to mention the blatant nasty Physical abuse. Hell these two
Are neck-n-neck in psychopath and psychotic behavior. But at least eladio is owning up to his Craziness. Doesn't make it
Better. I don't know what it makes it. Like you said she is better off without either one of those dingbats. she should put the old man in Shady Pines. the shady part, it matches his dark personality. Hes a terrible father.

Lets just face it, Eladio Luna Gomez & Arturo Montenegro has royally screwed their families. And themselves.

UA,

You called Nina "declassee" for visiting Julia to complain about her designs on Arturo. So what is your assessment of Julia for seeking out and berating Caridad over her involvement with Eladio?

You seem to have a different set of standards by which you judge and classify Julia and Arturo as opposed to those by which you judge and classify Nina and Eladio.

Where was Miguel at the time Montse died?

Carlos

As far as I can remember Miguel was with Clara giving her computer lessons. Besides, he had no motive. In fact, he had every reason to want the Rat alive because her continued involvement with Erick proved again and again that he was a cad.

UA,

"Besides, he had no motive."

Unless of course his devious long range plan was to frame Erick for Montse's death in order to free up Coni for himself. Don't forget, he asked the police detective if Erick going to prison for murder wouldn't facilitate Coni obtaining a divorce. And how often in murder mysteries does the guilty person turn out to be the one you lest suspect?

Carlos

Food for thought Carlos. Maybe most of us will be surprised when the truth finally is revealed.

the gringo

Hmmm..I think that it was Colonel Mustard ...in the conservatory...with a wrench.

About the slapping...survey..Have you ever slapped anyone???

Carlos,
Though Miguel had no motive to getrud of the rat, I wondered about Miguel just the same. I think he loves Consuelo so much that he might be capable of doing anything for her happiness. Eric was hurting Consuelo with he rat! But I ruled him out because of the part where Monste is looking terrified and saying "Tu!!!!", and I don't recall her and him ever meeting.
Btw, that "tu" part was not in Erics hospital bed confession either.

Another question if anyone remembers...how are Schmidt and Arturo's dad connected, if at all?

Leticia

Leticia,

"...he loves Consuelo so much that he might be capable of doing anything for her happiness."

I do think that he loves Consuelo (or at least is obsessed with her) but I think that he is more interested in having her for himself than he is in her happiness.

Carlos

Leticia--
I don't think there was a Smith/Schmidt-Arturo connection. Eladio kept a photo and some other information on Smith in a drawer in his office. He called him his mentor and dearly revered him. Smith "happened" to die suddenly when only Eladio was in the room and thus, the suspicion arose that Eladio had something to do with it. Arturo has just been trading on that suspicion and blew it up in the press, hoping to bring Eladio down a few rungs and ruin his chances at the presidency of the Association.

It didn't work.

Smith, cont'd.
Eladio said Smith "rescued" him when he was accused of the embezzlement and gave him a job.

Carlos--
I agree. We haven't seen anything to indicate that Miguel would resort to violence to insure the happiness of another. If so, he would have eliminated Erick and Nina long ago and departed the mansion. Instead, he took it, as a bullied Mr. Milk Toast would.

Of course, I meant ...to insure his own happiness.

Anita,

And yet it's the quiet sullen brooding ones that we often should keep our eyes on.

Carlos

..."silent, sullen, brooding ones"....yikes. So, Carlos, are you ruling out the stupid, ruthless, impulsive ones and the obsessed, power hungry, controlling ones??? I do not think that I have to actually name names.

Or...could it be Miss Scarlet in the ballroom with a candlestick?

You guys need to look at my proposed Televisa remake of Murder on the Orient Express. You might find that amusing.

Thanks Anita,
For clarifying about Schmidt/Smith. I was a little off because I knew Eladio had history with Art's father, but Schmidt was his mentor. Thanks to your explanation I now understand that Schmidt came on the scene after Eladio was accused of embezzlement. I wont be surprised if it will be revealed of something juicy happened with Art's father and young Art and Eladio.
I remember someone else commenting on that some time back.

Leticia

Someone suggested the possibility that Eladio and Arturo are half-brothers and don't know it. If what Eladio told his shrink about his father being abusive and his mother distant was true, could that be because Sr Gomez-Luna knew that Eladio is the bastard son of another man? Could that have been Arturo's father?

UA..If Lad and Art are half brothers...perhaps Regina is not Art's child...if the writers want to keep David and Reggie together at the end.
