Un camino hacia el destino - synopsis in English

Starting at 6:30 pm tonight!! Anybody want to recap this one? Contact me at caray@mappamundi.com

Setting: the hacienda of the Altamirano family. Fernando Altamirano (Red Gustavo), head of the family, is a widower and the father of Amelia (Lisette Morelos), the eldest daughter, and Mariana (Ana Patricia Rojo), the apple of his eyes.

Pedro Perez (Jorge Aravena) is gardener on the estate. He has secretly loved Amelia forever. But she's in love with Luis Montero (René Strickler), an ambitious young law student.

At the age of 18 Amelia gives herself to Luis and becomes pregnant. But Luis rejects her in order to marry Marissa Gomez Ruiz (Eugenia Cauduro), a widow millionaire banker. Somehow Don Fernando comes to believe the child Amelia is expecting is Pedro's - he throws both of them out of the house.

Pedro marries Amelia and for love of her assumes paternity of the child whom Amelia christens Luisa Fernanda (Paulina Goto). (Luisa for the real dad and Fernanda for the grandfather).

Luis and Marissa's wedding takes place quickly because she has to go to Spain for bank business. She ends up paying for Luis to study law in Spain.

Marissa has a son, Carlos Gomez Ruiz (Horacio Pancheri), who despite his young age is not deceived. He's always known Luis is a playboy who married his mother for money. This makes for an awful relationship between Luis and Carlos.

Years pass ... Luisa Fernanda is a beautiful young lady of 18, who is finishing high school and has two passions in life: she plays the violin beautifully though she's never studied it, and she loves gardening, which she learned from her father Peter.

A meeting led by fate makes Luis run over Fernanda, ending at the hospital where Carlos works ...

Sorry to be late posting this! Is anybody interested in recapping (or even watching)?

Is that my sweet baboo Renato from Sombra??

Jane..I forgot to thank you for posting this introduction.

Thank you Jane.

Susanlynn- Yes, that's Renato from Sombra.

It sounds interesting, but I do not think that I know many of the actors in this one. Is Rene Strickler playing a young guy???

Susanlynn- I laughed at that too. It sounds like there is a back story, with Rene either playing young or being played by someone who could actually pass for a young law student. Then we come forward to now, and he plays the proper age. It doesn't sound like a bad show, but I have to limit myself to the 2 I'm already watching.

Kelly

Thank You Jane.

Beware, this IS a project by Nathalie Lartrilleux so it's bound to get extremely frustrating at some point (sooner or later.)

-Encaje Rojo

I will not allow myself to watch another Latoodle production for the foreseeable future. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, just shoot me.

I'm not planning on watching this, but I am confused by this synopsis. So Luisa and Carlos are the main characters/love story? For a second, I thought Luis was the father of both of them... I'm assuming Carlos' father was Marissa's first (now dead) husband and Luis is his step-father?

Jane--I'm going to pass on this one--but I might watch Rene Stickler playing an 18-year old law student (haha) tonight. And heaven save me from another Lisette Morelos playing a wood carving (La Impostora).

J-I think the son Carlos was Marissa's before she married Luis. It sounded a bit confusing to me, too, but as bad as a Latoodle production can be, she wouldn't make them siblings for the sake of the leads or the audience.

Thanks for posting, Jane. No, not planning on watching. With Muchacha ending and Lichita ending soon, this is a perfect time to cut back on my tn watching, and nothing about this calls to me. If anything, it repels me to know it's a Lartrilleux production. But I always wish every tn well, so I hope it has good ratings.

Sorry to add to the list of someone who won't be tuning in. Pains me that my lovely Renato finally got his own chance at galan, but this just doesn't call to me and 18 year heroine, who looks 16 and maybe acts like it, have a tendency to make me twitch.
Plus, not thrilled on who's producing.

So I'll stay with El Hotel, and occasionally bop into P&P though that one is losing me because it seems so much the same thing every day.

Holding out hope there are some others goodies down the road, until then I can catch up on my artwork and reading.

Thanks for the posting!

I know this is supposed to be the, I want to recap this page, but I don't. Sorry, I'm out. Don't need another TN but I'm gonna watch Quien es Quien anyway, but not this. I'm not even as good a person as Vivi 'cause I don't care what kind of ratings this gets.

I used to watch the original in TV Azteca back in the day, it was a very cute telenovela called "La Hija del Jardinero". The actual male lead was the gardener, Jorge Aravena's character in this, and the father-daughter relationship was front and center besides the love story between the young leads. I know Lartilleux was after this telenovela for years and I can't believe Azteca finally sold it to HER. I mean, Televisa aside, it had to be Mrs Mejía, ugh.

I haven't watched a single episode of this version but I did watch the trailer and it seems like they are keeping the plot very simmilar, with just a few tweaks, mainly in Amalia's character who now starts as a wallflower, ignored by her dad and with a bad sense of style, instead of a pretty and popular girl who's her daddy's favorite. Her fall from grace was so harsh originally but it seems like here it's just a continuation of her already sad life.

Another difference is the exaggeration when it comes to Luisa Fernanda's look, here she seems to be always covered in dirt and her clothes are a little torn. In the original Luisa Fernanda was poor but she was never dirty and her clothes were never torn, especially her school uniform.

Jane, thanks very much for taking time to post the summary. I will give this one a try, I'm stuck with either the 7 or 8 PM time slot. We'll see what replaces Lichita...
J in Oregon

Oh yeah, sorry Jane, I should have thanked you first and foremost for bringing the summart of the story (and translating it too?). I really appreciate the updates on what you are all watching on the other side. Thank you.

Jarocha

Vivi,
Here you are, missed reading your comments on PyP.
Did it turn you off completely? Well, I hope you are well and would love to hearing your logical and intrresting way of looking at things. Come back to PyP!
Thx
Leticia

Thanks Jane for posting this. Mike and I are going to give it a try. It was ok last night. We'll see how it goes.

Emilia, you're the first "yes" !! Let us know what you think! Jane

I would prefer the firing squad to watching another Mr. o Mrs. Mejia production.

I do like Jorge though

Jane--I watched the first episode. Too much of the usual sturm und drang with a change of individuals, locations and costumes. And Lisette only confirmed my opinion she is a good actress--WHEN she's playing someone who displays no emotions. Renee Stickler in a pony tail was a hoot.

Jarocha--I wish I had seen the Azteca version.

Emilia--Good Luck with it.

I'm holding out for my telenovio Cristian de la Fuente to make his awaited return to the screen in Sueno de Amor (even if I have to watch Julian Gil in order to see Cristian).

Oops sorry Jane for rudely not thanking you.
I appreciate the summary because I was curious About Rene Stickler playing young man, surely another young actor plays him when he was young and Rene is the older mature same character. I would watch but the casting of that Little tween totally turned me off. Thank you for everything Jane!
Leticia

Jane, thank you for the great intro.

I have to admit I hadn't intended to watch but did see it last night. After I saw the divine, shirtless Jorge, what choice did I have (?)

I liked what I saw but I did have a serious eye roll over Rene's ponytail. Good grief!

I may watch again but if this isn't going to be recapped, I won't continue to watch because I will be lost...

Diana

Diana, nobody is showing interest in recapping it and only two people even want to watch!?

Many thanks for the summary, BlogMom! Much appreciated, indeed!

I'm afraid I won't be watching this one. The annoying fresa kid from MCET, who looks 15 and can't act her way out of a paper bag is the female protagonist of the latest Latoodle TN monstrosity? Ay no, qué horror! Thanks but no thanks.

Carvivlie and Variopinta pretty much summed up my sentiment on Lartilleux. I foreswore her for life since CI! Never again! (And I only watched the abridged DVD version and with much fast-forwarding, to boot. I'll never recover those hours of my life... or those fried brain cells! :D)

Just like Anita, I'm holding out for Cris de la Fuente but he is coming back in an Osorio production (Gag me now!). I've watched the first two episodes of "Sueño de Amor" and it is baaaaad! Really baaaaad! We're gonna have a field day with that one! However, against my better judgement and every instinct of self-preservation I possess, I'm going to watch it with my valiant Patio Pals and I'm even volunteering to recap it. I'll take Mondays (or Tuesdays) if BlogMom is kind enough to grant me a recapping spot. :)

Enjoy the rest of your day, everyone! Always a joy to swing by and read comments of my fellow Carayites! :)

By the way, "Sueño de Amor" is premiering on Univision on March 8th, after AMQL ends. Yes, it's an Osorio production and watching will entail some degree of sacrifice but consider this: we'll get to shamelessly ogle a beefed up Cris de la Fuente, we'll learn the latest teenage slang (remember, we watch TNs for the Spanish, *wink, wink*) and we'll compete to set new records on the snark-o-meter! Also, I'm really digging Julián Gil's new mustache. I'm finding him oddly sexy in this one. He oozes slimy reptilian charm and me likee! :)
So, who's in?

Nandicta, I will be watching "Sueño de Amor", and also possibly the LaToodle production at 7:00 with Rene Stickler...so will be seeing you folks around on both shows.
J in Oregon

-- J in Oregon: I look forward to hanging out with you in the "Sueño de Amor" Patio. :)

Camina would be very easy to recap, just call out the cliche #. NUMBER 47
NuMBER 14, repeat # 22, etc, etc, etc

Watched the first half hour. Just couldn't get interested. I too will hold out for Sueno de Amor.

Nandicta, I'll put you on sda Monday for now but maybe you'd like to take the premiere on the first Tuesday?

Thank you, Jane! I'm happy to recap the premiere (a little nerve-racking but really exciting! Yay!) and I can keep the Tuesday spot if someone else prefers recapping Mondays. Cheers for the opportunity! :)

Oh!so nobody is willing to recap this one, I might need it someday. I'm from Nigeria and this TN will get to my country soon

sorry, but i am with Vivi, have other priorities that are making me give up the 7pm and 8pm time slot novelas... might watch hotel every now and then... but have to pass even on Cristian because I have had enough of Julian Gil as a villain.
and this one seems too much of a teenager novela (even if I LOVE Jorge Aravena in just about anything) and I remember EUgenia Cauduro's starts (Nunca te Olvidare) but she depends greatly on a good match to character. I know Sueno de Amor will show more posters interested in recapping than this one.

I've watched the first two episodes and I've enjoyed them. I particularly like Jorge Aravena as Pedro and Eugenia Cauduro as Marissa. So far, a lot of the scenes have been shot outside and not on a sound stage, which is appealing to me. The lighting looks natural, even inside. My only complaint is the background music. It's too loud and overly dramatic.

According to this article in the Latin Times, Jorge Aravena says that his character will play a larger role than depicted in the promos. Glad to hear it. The man is guapisimo!

Aleta, I also watched last night and thought it was good.

Yes, I really like Jorge as well and "Renato" as well.

Jane noted that no one was interested in recapping and it seems you and I are among the few that were watching. I am already getting lost so I will likely bow out.

Diana

Thank you for saying what it is about I have been watching this one from the beginning and I don't like laxiloony but this tn is really good the acting is good as well horacio pancheri is doing a great job and so is paulina goto if I new how to recap I would do it but I have no idea how and I have watched some of sueno de amor and it actually pretty good

I know I'm late to comment, but this telenovela has me interested now. That first day of way too old people trying to play young...had me thinking that I wouldn't watch, but I try to give everything at least 2 weeks (or 5 episodes in weekly programming.) However, they found a hook to keep me tuned in a little longer than 2wks (even with the hairy one from MIVAC). So we shall see.

Evangelina, I will be watching Un Camino Hacia El Destino, at least to start. It's fine so far...We might be the only two watching, however.
Will probably be watching Sueno de Amor tambien.

J in Oregon

Ive watched this tn UCHED from the start and its pretty good. I have cc3 so I know whats going on. I just miss the the recaps.
But nobodys interested in recappin so I'll do the cc3 thing.
Thanks for putting this up jane. :-). But if by
Chance someone wants to recap, that'l bel great.
I'll keep tabs just in case

Kendra, Nina, Evangelina, and friends, would you like to have a weekly discussion thread posted for Camino? I'm happy to do that - you could chat amongst yourselves, and if a recapper shows up, all the better. Let me know. Blog mom.

OK, I've just put up a discussion post for you. I'll try to remember to do that every week, remind me if I forget. Thanks!
