Pasion y Poder #95 Brando DeNiro Pacino and DeCaprio Ain't Got Nuttin' on Humberto
Labels: poder
Unfortunately, Connie is going to lose custody of the baby because 1) the Montenegros are more powerful than she is and 2) she & Miguel are stuck on stupid, Miguel especially.
If Julia doesn't want to be with Eladio, fine. But don't give Eladio mixed signals by getting jealous because Nina & Caridad are sniffing around. Eladio didn't look upset at Caridad's underwhelming makeover.
Julia's new independent attitude is not keeping Humberto laced in comfort. He's going to do something about that.
Gabi will feel so betrayed when she learns Caridad is in cahoots with mouth breather.
Fanny's dealing behind Nina's back with Eladio.
Anon207, yes, Gaby is in for a world of hurt. Not only from her worthless, lying, cheating husband but her mother in law as well. That said, Caridad is in a tough spot. She has the best interests of her grandchild in mind and I don't see any other path for her other than to try and play both sides (although her feelings are more genuine so "playing" isn't the right word).
I could not follow Eladio and Fanny's discussion at all.
If Caridad had a makeover so she resembled Isabella's lovely photo in the credits, that would be one thing, but her hair (while pretty) is too dark. We have too many brunettes - bring on a blonde or flaming red head!
Diana
If this is what upscale apartments in Mexico look like it's not worth being able to afford them.
What does Caridad expect will happen when Gabriela finds out about Franco's bastard and especially when she learns that the egg donor is Marintia? This situation is actually worse than Julia's was back in the day.
She just took off the headband thingy. I can't see Eladio with her. I want to see lovely juls
Back with him. Im sorry I just don't like artty.
maybe it's the way he went about things not caring about the pain he was causing David the son of the woman he claims is the love of his life and his baby girl Regina and then well he just made a big mess of everything. And
All those years ago, if he hadn't cheated on
Julia kept it zipped so-to-speak. but no he was sniffing around another tail and here's what hes got Now........trouble....with purple
Lipstick.
New title : "Assets y Asshats"
So...is this the first time we have heard that Eladio raped Julia more than just the noche de boda?
Julia had better make up her mind if she stays or if she goes because there is a line forming for richo, suave Hotladio. Just saying.
Humdaddy is repulsive. I am surprised that he is not actually holding a public auction for his daughter. Disgusting old dude. Blleecchhh
Best line of the night, "They almost kiss, but Eladio is francofurter blocked."
Eladio's shrink should have written him a prescription ages ago, but it won't help now.
Anita, didn't the church wedding happen during the time jump? We did get a shot in the montage of Gaby in a bridal gown.
I guess that Humberto will be trying even harder now. Disgusting old man. Hummy, there's an anvil waiting for you.
Fireworks will be exploding when Franco's son arrives. Am I seeing divorce? Yes, big time.
Right Julia threw Eladio out and so now if he now has visitors, oh well. She only saw Nina, she didn't see Nina's friend. She could have gotten a two fer.
must see tv
the gringo
I would rather read one of your in your face recaps than watch the telenovela. Ninety percent of the time your snarky take and wording makes me say 'yeeeeaaaah', or "Sh_t I wish I had come up with that".
Francofurter blocked is a classic. I truly did not know the root :-) phrase was in common use except amoung disgusting men like me. Thank you, I am glad to see some of our colloquialisms gaining popularity.
Once again thanks, truly entertaining.

Eladio wants Fanny to convince Nina to sell her shares of Grupo Montenegro to him & he will pay Fanny a commission. Right now Nina just wants some help and advice in how to manage them.
She doesn't and shouldn't trust Erick or Arturo to manage her shares. Ironically, the only person in her family that Nina COULD trust to manager her shares properly is Regina.
Regina needs to get away from all of them. The only member of her family that hasn't betrayed her in some way is the baby.
Connie needs to learn how to look through the peephole before opening the door.
Love your spicy recap from the beginning to the end. Thanks so much! Hope your mom is recovering at home.
Did Nina propose to put the home in the children's name and Art rejected that? For some reason I am having problems understanding important dialogue midway through the novela.
Wonder if Consuelo's nursing issues have something to do with her early years with her mom in the bordello then in a Catholic (?) charities type home. Normal, loving family functions are foreign to her. Women as objects are her norm. Clearly she coerced Erick, an overbearing addict who clearly didn't love her, into the pregnancy, she has definite self esteem issues and might not have the self assurance to give of herself physically to the baby. Seeing her with that bottle made me think more about her difficulties.
Welcome Kendra if you are a new poster.
Thanks again and to the contributors who make this understandable (my lil Spanish) and entertaining!
If it was important that she be married in the church, we would have seen at least a short scene, either in or out of the church (unless Televisa was saving money). But....mistakes can be made.... If she did indeed have a church wedding and has to get it annulled, let's hope Bishop Hottie will deliver the papers personally--and slap Franco for francfornicating before marriage. (The Marintia impregnation took place before the civil contract with Gaby was signed, no?)
While I understand Julia has to forgive her evil father, why on earth would she ask him for advice? His "kindness" is so creepy because we know its completely self-centered or as our recapper so eloquently said, he's waiting to see which billionaire cad will give him a casino.
ITA w/you Anon207, Regina needs to leave the house of crazy and be with David. If anyone else in her family was in her position, they would do the same.
Mauricio, thanks for your great Friday recap!
That clearly shouldn't keep him from doing it, but Artie is stubborn whether he thinks he's right or pulling one over on Eladio, Assmore or Nina.
Is that clear enough?
When you say no way could those incredibly attractive people make the mutt that is Gaby. She's adopted. I know I shouldn't laugh. It's mean. But I howled. Yes, the hairdo and the perpetually open mouth do nothing for the actress.
Also loved "billionare magnet, Eladio is frankofurter blocked and whatever galan will give him a casino. Tellin' it like it is.
Kirbo, a young woman from another country used the term "cock blocked" one day and I assured her it was probably not a good idea to include it in her American English vocabulary. But evidently she heard it a lot in the office where she worked, and picked it right up! Wouldn't you know....
Thanks Cynderella, you bad, bad girl. Hope this means that your mother is doing better and recovering well at home.
"He too wants to screw Art, but not in the good way"
"He seems to likey likey"
Miguel is stupid. His daddy is using him to hide assets and Miguel goes along believing Art is down with Connie's divorce. If Art really, really wanted to support Connie he'd get that goon removed from outside her door.
I hope Julia has front sewn into the cup of her bra otherwise that idiot would never be able to dress herself.
I hope that your mom is convalescing comfortably from her recent surgery and that you are able to relax a bit. I wish you both the very best.
Sandy,
I'm pretty sure that Nina proposed putting the house in Daniela's and Regina's names. I like the the idea and think that it reveals that she loves the two girls equally in spite of what many here think. She also revealed that she doesn't despise Miguel as much as many think since she proposed that he be treated the same (an equally nice penthouse) as Erick.
Regina has begun to resemble Julia in the way she is playing David and Jorge off of each other. I think that she knows exactly what she is doing.
Carlos
Since it's been a number of episodes since the time jump and we haven't heard about the church wedding I am guessing it happened. I thought there was a line of dialogue about it.
Arturo is reluctant to put the house into the names of his daughters because he knows that Daniela would allow Nina to live there and Regina is tired of fighting with her about anything. She would end up moving out sooner or later, David or no David.
Relevant to this point: My friend who was always playing the victim was married to a man with a highly narcissistic, alcoholic father. When he had his will made out he tried to get his lawyer to put everything in trust for his three adult children with the condition that they not be able to touch the principles of their inheritances until they turned 65. His lawyer refused to do this. However, the inheritance did include a vacation home on half an acre of land, which was left to all three. When my friend and her husband contemplated moving to the nearest big city to that area, his younger brother refused to allow them to temporarily move into that vacation home "because you'll never move out." They ended up not moving to the area because the husband couldn't find a job there and guess who moved into that house? The younger brother.
My friend's wasband and his sister stopped paying their share of the property taxes on this property because they didn't want any more conflict. My friend got a divorce before the death of her sister-in-law, so I don't know whether there was any conflict over her rightful share of the property (which younger brother never bought out).
There was another story in this friend's family about a house that was left jointly to three brothers with the condition that it never be sold out of the family. None of them wanted it and they couldn't get any relative to buy them out. They were in and out of court for ten years trying to break their mother's will and when a judge finally ruled in their favor they didn't get enough for it to make up for all the wasted time, legal fees, and court costs they paid.
Since this is his family's home for three generations, Arturo has every right to keep it. Nina refusing another of equal size at Arturo's ongoing expense is purely her way of trying to stick in the knife.
Just a couple of remarks before returning to my self-imposed embargo:
1) I wish they'd stop lying to Caridad and quit giving her false hopes. Makeover? More like MakeUnder! I laughed out loud at that scene where she was slithering into Eladio's office, giving him come hither looks and coquettishly opening her blouse buttons almost to her navel. She looked really frumpy and those cascades of oversized curls were just ridonculous. I really can't get over her new hairdo. Is she auditioning for the role of Scar in the Lion King?
2) Since half the female cast (Nina, Fanny, Itzel, Caridad) is making googly eyes at Eladio and seductively hovering around him, what the heck, I might as well try my luck too! Give me a number and show me where the line ends. I'm number 5 and I'm ready to karate kick my way to this Bombón!
I can understand why both Nina and Arturo want the house. Also, I'm not so naive as to deny that there is a bit vengeance and a desire on her part to " stick in the knife". However, his long range plan is to end up with Julia... honestly, can you see Julia (even appropriately medicated) ever agreeing to live in the same house that he shared with Nina rearing 3 and 1/2 children for 25 years? I bet not. I think his motive for hanging onto possession of the house is at least every bit as selfish and vindictive as Nina's.
Carlos
I'm sure if he ends up with Julia and she doesn't want to live there he'd move and allow Miguel or Regina to have the house. By then I'm sure Erick will have been hoisted on his own petard and Daniela will either have washed out in scandal or -- if she's smart -- have a penthouse of her own, which would be more suited to her life than a huge mansion. Just as long as it isn't the one the Rat lived in.
"His grandfather built the house, raised his son in it, and Arturo also grew up in it. It is not selfish to want to keep that house..."
Perhaps not, but then...
Nina lived and loved in that house for 25 years and reared her 3 children there, soooo... perhaps it's not selfish of her to want to keep that house?
Carlos
he wants what’s best for her as long as it’s the one that will give him a casino
Kudos to Franco. He played Julia well.
Boo to Regina. She's no right to take out her anger on Miguel for stuff Art's done.
Both Dani and Hummy so funny. Dani telling David to stay away from “us.” Poor Hummy scared his plan might backfire and he'll end up in a dingy room with Julia.
She refuses to see her children as separate beings. Someone else pointed out her most telling line: "I don't understand Regina. She's nothing like me." This says she didn't want daughters so much as she wanted clones of herself. This is never a realistic expectation.
Nina was ready to move to New York, remember? She conveniently forgot in that moment that Arturo's company is based in Mexico and that he needs to be there to run it. Running a company can't be done through the internet, e-mail, and skyping. She demanded a new car 3 months after Arturo had already bought her one. There was no good reason for that.
She wants Erick to have control over Consuelo's and the baby's company shares (so she can get them) and told him "After that she can go to hell."
I betcha juls goes back to Eladio. That'll be
Weird.
Thanks Cyndarella :-D.
Awesome recap as usual. Thanks a buzillion. Hope your mom is doing good and that you have been taking care of yourself as well. Glad to have you back!
Hasta Pronto
