Pasión y Poder Cap #99 March 4th 2016 Erick Jr. is still kidnapped, Caridad gets fired, and Nina gives up her jewelry.
The old:
On Erick's instruction, the thug calls Casa Montenegro, and leaves a message for Erick with Petra. The message: Tell Erick we have his son.
Consuelo is distraught. Miguel consoles her. Arturo arrives and asks if the authorities have been notified. Consuelo replies that they have. Arturo asks about Erick. Has he been notified too?! Uh.. no. It didn't even cross Consuelo's mind to call Erick. Nor did it cross Clara and Miguel's mind either. Arturo gets mad and scolds them for not notifying Erick. (Really, Arturo, you are going to get on their case for this, right now?!) Arturo takes out his phone to call Erick.
Consuelo cries. Clara gives her a pill. (Why must everyone who is distraught take a pill??!) Consuelo feels guilty because she asked Erick to fire the bodyguards. Miguel smells a rat (or in this case a smelly old chimp) and finds the whole thing strange. Why would Erick be contacted instead of Consuelo herself?! Moreover, how would the kidnappers even know Erick's number?! Miguel thinks that the kidnapping was planned by someone. Miguel calls Arturo to tell him his suspicions.

The new:
Petra panics. She doesn't know what to do or who she should tell.
In order to do things right, Erick has the thug call him on his cell phone.
David's BS radar has returned. He doesn't believe his mother when she tells him that the person who came to see her is her boss. David wants the truth.
Nina panics when Petra passes on the message that someone has Erick Jr. Nina rushes to her cell phone and desperately tries to reach Erick and Arturo to no avail.
Julia doesn't want David to feel forced to have to be there with her. She notes that David is sad, and knows that it's not only because his aunt and uncle passed away (although that should be the only thing that should matter now). She knows that he's suffering over Regina. David doesn't want to talk about Regina. Today, she showed him that she's decided to move on with her life, and he thinks that he should do the same. He leaves. (So somehow Julia was able to get out of telling David the truth about who really came to see her. Whatever.)
Nina is so distraught that she can't even dial the numbers on her iPhone. Petra offers to help her out. Regina arrives and Nina gives her the bad news: Erick Jr. has been kidnapped. Now both mother and daughter desperately try to reach the two Montenegro men on the phone.
Arturo informs the trio (Consuelo, Clara, and Miguel) that the authorities have the baby's info already and a respective photo. Miguel, el tonto wonder if the authorities will help them. Duh! Since they weren't able to reach Erick before, Clara volunteers to keep on calling him. Miguel hopes that Arturo doesn't mind that Consuelo called him and notified him about what happened. Arturo doesn't, but he takes the time, to remind both Consuelo and Miguel that Erick is the father. (Really, you are still doing this, Arturo, is now even the time for this??!)
Daniela runs into Assmore at GM. Assmore had been waiting for Arturo for a meeting but Arturo has stood him up. Assmore takes the opportunity to talk to Daniela about her ignoring his calls. Daniela tells him that she's been busy with work. Assmore hopes that's the case and that she hasn't been avoiding him. He wonders if she wants more than what he can give her. She tells him no.. but umm, she'll let him know. She leaves. (That last part made no sense. Did anyone get it?!)
Franco shows Eladio the news report about Caridad, being the mother of Eladio's bastard child. Franco wonders what Eladio will do now. Eladio could care less about that until Franco brings up the question of what Julia will have to say when she finds out that Eladio replaced her for a murderer.
Erick calls Arturo and informs him that the baby has been kidnapped. He tells Arturo that the kidnappers contacted him and are asking for a huge ransom. Arturo gets off the phone with Erick and informs the trio that the baby has been kidnapped. (They all seem surprised.. but honestly, shouldn't they have already realized that, when the baby went missing??!)
Eladio grabs Franco by the lapels and drags him a few steps towards him while scolding Franco about how easy it is for him to talk nonsense. Franco says that he is ashamed that Caridad is a murderer. Eladio wonders who could have leaked the info to TMZ. Franco blames Arturo. Eladio doesn't think so. How would Arturo have found out?! Franco says.. from Regina. He tells Eladio that they are facing problems now. Eladio decides to think before acting. He tells Franco to get in contact with the TMZ reporter they both know and they'll go from there depending on what the reporter tells them.
Consuelo can't believe it. She wants to know what else Erick said. Arturo explains that all Erick told him was that the kidnappers called to inform him that the baby had been kidnapped and that they'd get in contact with him again. Consuelo embraces Arturo. Then gets consoled by Miguel.
Erick notices that he has five missed calls on his cellphone. Surely, his folks know by now what's happening. He hands the thug another advance of the money he owes him for the job. The thug remarks that Erick must hate his wife so much to do a thing like this to her. Erick replies that he does and that the thug can't even begin to image how much he hates her guts. Die Erick, Die. The thug reminds Erick that he has to give him a part of the ransom money he collects. Erick tells him not to worry, there will be plenty of money for them to divide amongst themselves.
Arturo talks with Agustín on the phone and asks him to gather up the ransom money. He gets off the phone and assures Consuelo that Erick Jr. will be fine. Regina calls him and tells him about the phone call that was made to the house from the kidnapper. Arturo tells her that he's on his way home, and asks her to let the kidnappers know that he wants to be one who negotiates with them if they call back. Regina informs Nina that Arturo is with Consuelo and knows what's happening. Nina gets mad and blames Consuelo for losing the baby. Regina tries to calm Nina down. Regina asks Petra to give the kidnappers Arturo's number if they call again. Petra MUST NOT LET GO OF THE PHONE!
Caridad receives the third degree from Eladio and she assures him that she doesn't know how TMZ found out that she's Franco's mom. Franco appears and informs Eladio that he spoke with the reporter but he knew nada. Eladio says they'll have to wait to see how everyone reacts before they act. He then tells Caridad that the time has come for her to leave GLA.
Arturo and Erick join the Montenegro women. Erick blames Consuelo for the baby's kidnapping. Die Erick, Die. Arturo informs everyone that Agustín is gathering up the ransom money. Arturo wants to call the procurador (attorney general?) but Erick doesn't want to. Naturally, Erick doesn't want the cops involved, so he informs his family that the kidnappers told him, that they would kill the baby, if the authorities are informed. Die Erick, Die. Arturo lets Erick know that the authorities have been informed already. Not only that, but there's an Amber Alert out for Erick Jr. Erick hopes that this won't put his son in any danger. Die Erick, Die.
Eladio and Franco both agree that Caridad MUST leave GLA and can't be seen around them anymore. Caridad wails... loudly.. (where's the FF button on my remote?!). She doesn't want to be far away from her son again. Eladio informs her that he'll be giving her a monthly allowance.

Miguel calls Arturo and tells him about his suspicions. Arturo informs the family about Miguel's suspicions. Erick gets mad, says that Miguel doesn't have to be giving out his opinion. Arturo asks Erick who would want to harm him. Nina replies that it could be anybody and that there are many ways for someone to get someone's number (true). Arturo insists in calling the attorney general but Erick says no. He claims that he's afraid of what could happen to his son, although in reality he's just worried about saving his own butt.
The pills have put Consuelo to sleep. Miguel tells Clara how worried he is and how it hurts him to see Consuelo so distraught. He is sure that the kidnapping was planned. But who be behind it?! Who?! Erick isn't really everyone's friend (LOL) and for sure he has enemies. Clara says that they'll have to wait and pray. Miguel says that he'd give anything so Consuelo doesn't have to go through this.
The Montenegro clan (sans-Miguel) have all gathered in the living room. Erick leaves the room to send the thug a message: call me. Nina plays the blame game and lays the blame on Consuelo again. Regina comes to Consuelo's defense. Nina says that a mother should always watch their child when she takes him/her to the park (she's got a point there!). Erick's phone rings, and Erick says that they are gathering up the money. Arturo snatches the phone from Erick, tells the kidnappers that they will give them the money, but that they want proof that the baby lives. Kidnapper (thug) hangs up. Erick gets pissed at Arturo and hopes that what he did won't be counterproductive. Can't Arturo trust him to do things right?! Uh, no..he can't.. is Arturo's response (LOL). Erick gets a text with a photo of the baby and the Montenegro clan gather to see it. Then Erick receives another text: he must hand over the money in an hour at the location sent to him or else the baby dies.
Caridad visits Gaby. Gaby thinks it's awful what her uncle did to her. Caridad understands that there could be many problems, but she just wanted to be near Franco. Oy vey.. next scene please! Gaby tells Caridad that she can come and visit Franco at their home anytime. Caridad isn't so sure.. she brings up how Franco backed up Eladio in firing her. Gaby offers to speak with Eladio. But Caridad tells her no. She doesn't want Gaby to have any problems with either Franco or Eladio. Franco arrives. Gaby tells him that they can't fire Caridad. Franco brings up all the calls from the GLA associates. Does Gaby know how much they could lose?! Caridad cries and says that she can't lose Franco. Franco tells her that his dad was clear with her, he will compensate her. He tells her to go home. Gaby tells him not to talk to his mom that way. Look what happened to her parents. Anything can happen and then he'll regret mistreating his mother.
When talking about who loathes Erick so much as to do this to him, Arturo thinks it was Eladio. Erick seems to agree. Die Erick, Die. Regina comes to Eladio's defense. She doesn't think that he'd be capable of such a thing. Arturo thinks otherwise.. he knows Eladio so well. And after that call he made to Eladio well... Daniela asks him: What call?! Arturo realizes his slip, and tells everyone to forget it, he goes to try and contact the attorney general. Erick leaves the room a second to send a message to the thug. Message: It's all ok. He then gets a call from the nurse informing him that the baby has diarrhea and is throwing up and needs to be taken to the hospital.
Caridad thanks Gaby. Gaby leaves because she has a headache (from Caridad's weeping, perhaps?!). Now alone, Caridad tells Franco that she thought that things were well between them. Franco says: how could they, when she does nothing right, she couldn't even get close to Eladio. Caridad claims she tried, but it's obvious that Eladio loves Julia. Franco yells: that she should have tried harder. Die Franco, Die. He says that who knows what she did or who she spoke to so the information would be leaked to the press. She tells him she did nada. She'll be leaving because he's not understanding anything that she's telling him. But before she leaves, she tells him that she hopes that he listens to Gaby, and doesn't waste time being away from those who love him, because she loves him a lot.
Erick is looking worried (Because the baby is sick? Because this could alter his plans? Hmm..) Arturo walks up to him from behind and asks who is it. Erick says that it's a client. Agustín arrives with only a part of the money. The rest is in investments in the bank and he can't get access to them until tomorrow. Arturo nearly laughs in his face, and scolds him for only bringing a part of the money. (They just aren't paying you enough, Agustín! Pull a "miguelazo" please.)
Eladio talks to one of the people he does business with over the phone and tries to explain the news story that was published. He tells the caller that he has nothing to worry about. He calls Franco and tells him that they have to do something urgent. People who they do business with found out that Caridad was locked up and are worried. Franco asks him if he told them that he fired Caridad. Eladio replies that he didn't, because he doesn't have to give explanations about his life, and besides doing so would be giving them a motive to think that it's all true (so then why did you fire her?!), and this has to be resolved another way. Eladio tells Franco to see what he can do, while he thinks of a convenient approach to take.
Erick tells his family and Agustín that they have to do something. It's almost time for him to go and meet the kidnappers. Agustín says there's nothing more that can be done. Nina gets up and heads to her room to gather up her jewelry. Regina and Daniela go with her. Erick leaves the room and takes another call from the nurse. He tells the nurse to take the baby to the hospital. Now alone, Arturo tells Agustín that he thinks Eladio is behind the kidnapping. Agustín does't think so... after all the GL's also have problems of their own with the death of Gaby's parents. Arturo calls up Eladio. Both men accuse each other of doing something. Eladio accuses Arturo for leaking the info about Caridad to the press. Arturo denies it. Arturo accuses Eladio of having his grandson kidnapped. Eladio denies it. In the end, Eladio hangs up on Arturo. Erick tells Art that the kidnappers called again. He has to go hand over the money now or else the baby dies.
David and Julia find out from Eladio that Erick Jr. has been kidnapped. David will call Regina.
Nina gives Erick all of her jewelry to help with paying the ransom for her grandson. Before leaving, Erick tells his family to call the cops if they don't hear from him.
Consuelo wakes up for her pill induced sleep. She asks Miguel and Clara if there is any news. No, there isn't. Consuelo is desperate and she doesn't think that Erick will be able to handle this situation. She decides to call the Commandante. (Uhhh, but didn't they already inform the authorities, where are they anyway, shouldn't they be tracing the calls?!)
Nina says that she will die if anything happens to Erick. Regina receives a text from David showing her his support during this tough time. Regina ignores the text. Commandante calls Arturo.
Erick arrives at the hospital. The baby is dehydrated and isn't doing so well. Erick looks worried.
Caridad calls the news reporter: Nemesio Cueva (?). Caridad wants to clear things up and wants to keep Eladio out of problems.
Erick is asked to provide his info to formally admit the baby into the hospital.
Arturo gets off the phone with the Commandante. He tells the family that the Com. told him that they should always inform the authorities so things turn out fine.
Caridad asks the reporter to come to her home and she'll tell him the truth under the condition that Eladio is left without any blame.
Hummy calls Eladio and wants Eladio to be in charge of Gaby's parent's factory. Eladio doesn't think that now is the time to be talking about this. Hummy says that right now they need someone like Eladio to be in charge of it all. Eladio will look into it but first they have to wait to see what the will says. Hummy says it's Gaby's patrimony so he leaves Eladio in charge.
Erick seems worried about his baby. He is given the papers to fill out to admit the baby into the hospital. He calls up the thug and tells him that he'll give him his money tomorrow.
Hummy rolls into Julia's room and tells her that he talked to Eladio and they'll wait until the will is read to make a decision about the factory. Julia is disgusted, she can't believe that her dad is thinking about this, when Amanda just died. Where is his change???! Hummy says that he doesn't want Franco to take advantage of Gaby. David enters. He tells his mom that he wasn't able to reach Regina. He says he's not feeling well and goes home.
Caridad meets with the reporter and smokes as she tells him her tale. She tells the reporter that Eladio didn't know that she had been in prison. She explains that she went to prison for killing her husband when she protected her son from him. She wasn't able to prove it was self defense. She tells the reporter that Eladio was nice to her and gave her a job when she got out of prison.
Miguel, Consuelo, and Clara arrive at Casa Montenegro. Nina gets on Miguel's case for showing up with Consuelo as if he were the father of Erick Jr. Miguel asks Arturo what the Commandante said. Arturo says that the Commandante said that they have started searching. (Started?? Shouldn't they have started back when Consuelo went to the authorities??!) Arturo says that Erick went to pay the ransom.. well part of it, anyway.
Caridad wants things to published just the way they happened. Caridad doesn't care what others think about her just that Franco and Eladio's names are left clean. Reporter leaves.
OMG. David is moping over Regina. He looks over old love letters and photos of happier times. He eventually loses it and begins throwing everything around the room. He cries.
Nurse tells Erick that there's a problem. The problem is with ERICK. She informs him that there is an Amber Alert on the baby, and now they must have proof that he's really the dad before they can continue giving him info about the baby. Not only that, but the authorities have to be called. YES!

So true, Mauricio, so true! And I agree that the habit of shoving a pill down the throat of every hysterical female is annoying. Pills for women, booze for men. But for God's sake, don't even think about dealing with your emotions on your own! That might actually result...eventually...in some emotional maturity. God forbid!
The character of Erick, as written, is so stupid and impulsive, I would worry a lot more about sweet baby's IQ than anything else.

I'm glad this chapter is advancing quickly because ten years ago this would have played out over two weeks of episodes. Given the situation I hope that somebody in Monday's episode realizes that Erick is not in panic mode and wonders why not. Someone should also wonder why he walked out of the room when his cell rang. Miguel's BS detector is on high alert.
Thanks to the hospital situation it looks like Erick could be found out by Monday or Tuesday. Very stupid of him to give his real name to the hospital staff (or maybe they asked for ID). That would be the beginning of his end. I hope he and "Pedro" end up in the same cell before Erick finds out that he is the one who cut his brakes. I think that would be a better Karmageddon than death.
As a jewelry queen I have to wonder this: If Nina had such valuable jewelry why did she never wear it? Everything we've ever seen her in looked like cheap junk. But I digress...
As to the accusations Nina is making, I have to wonder why there was no security on this family from the beginning. With kidnapping a constant danger to wealthy people -- this one was designed to look like a Sequestro Express -- you'd think that the Montenegros would have had constant bodyguards and security on their property. Eladio almost never went anywhere without Callao, but his security staff at home was mostly charged to keep Julia prisoner. We know that the "security guard" hired by Erick was really a spy and his termination was a ruse to trick Consuelo into a false sense of security (so to speak) to set her up for the "incriminating" photo with Miguel.

Caridad's talking to that slimy reporter is most likely going to backfire on her. During that scene in Franco's house there was a new piece of music that made me wonder whether we will be seeing the last of her shortly.
Humberto's talking about Gabriela's inheritance made me ask right away what he expects to get out of it. Good for both Eladio and Julia for calling him out on this.
The scene with Daniela and Assmore telegraphed that she might be writing up his walking papers before too much time goes by. There will probably be fallout from that.

I don't think Nina knows. He doesn't tell her everything and he is stupid enough to think he could easily get away with this. This opens the question as to whether she would have approved of this herself and planned it better than he did. Nina is better at risk vs reward assessment than Erick is. She would have seen pitfalls in his plan unless she forgot the real possibility of a sudden medical issue.
I used to think she wouldn't have done so, but now I'm not completely sure. Does she remember that she had threatened Consuelo's life twice, at least once in the presence of others?

I sort of gave up on watching this one because frankly these people were all annoying the hell of out me. I couldn't even root for Gina and David anymore. So just read the great recaps daily. But eyes were hurting after way too much time with presentations and spreadsheets yesterday, so thought I'd relax and just grab some TV and see what these nutcases were all up to.
All I could say is OMG, I stored the beanie to save it and I was counting the minutes after @ 15 minute waiting for El Hotel to start.
Why is every woman in this TN shown in some sort of negative light, even the heroines being shown as rather weak and clueless. (Why is Gina already willing to jump in with that dweeb so soon after breaking up with David. Deep down, maybe mumsy's idea about needing a man are at work here?? C'mon girl, use those brain cells.) Maybe they should all park the Spanx and get the oxygen flowing to their brains again.
I've never been a fan of Isabella Camil, but her and her bad hair extensions are really wrong for this TN. She is unbelievable as someone that Eladio would have even given the time of day to, and basically, she's annoying. If Franco wasn't so worthless and needs to get a good 2 by 4 up the side of the head, I would sympathize with him over her whiney, clingy ways. Yes, she missed having him around as child, but good lord woman...he's not 12 either. That interview is so going to bite her.
And this whole kidnapping...this is Mexico, this is the 21st century and no way would the kidnapping of a top tier corporate exec's grandson be handled so poorly. Not only police but higher authorities would have been all over this the minute they knew. If they show Erick getting out of this...
So think I'll save my beanie and just keep up with the wonderful recaps from the team and maybe tune in during the Finales to see how it plays out. How many more episodes are expected?

A couple of weeks ago someone said the finale would be on 4/10 in Mexico. We are currently only 10 episodes behind Mexico, which would make the US finale date on or about 4/25, depending on how many pre-emptions we have for Easter (which is 3/27). That would be 137 or 138 episodes, if the finale is two hours.
Thanks UA. Sort of boggles the mind what else they could possibly pull out of their hat on this one for that many episodes yet. I guess pretty much the same angst with Julia choosing her chosen dude and more separation for David and Gina until they hook up again. Maybe next focus is stalker Jorge...oh boy.

Variopinta--"I know they don't film things in order...." You can definitely say that about Caridad's changing hair part. When she first appeared after her make-under, it was in the middle. A few scenes later, it was more attractively on one side, but before the end of the episode it was back in the middle. It has moved back and forth several times since. Last night when she was talking to the reporter, it was back in the middle. [Question, why do I notice these things...PyP is not that boring.)
Niecie--Don't forget Erick also asked Nina to provide an alibi for him for the afternoon of the kidnapping, BEFORE it took place. I'm hoping Nina is smart enough to start putting some of this together--and listening to Miguel's theory.
I was proud of Regina for defending Connie. How on earth could she have predicted a bunch of folks arguing and surrounding her and Clara. But I agree that prominent Mexican families "need" security these days, to protect them from just such an event.

The oft repeated mantras of "Die Erick, Die." and "Die Franco, Die." serve nicely as a chorus we can all join in with as you sing the verses of your engrossing ballad. I dutifully chime in but in no way do I really wish for this brain-damaged Neanderthal to die... he's simply too much fun... Franco? Well, that's another matter entirely.
I love the closeups of Erick's strained expressions and can easily imagine his poor crippled little hamster struggling to keep up with the madness. I think that it's safe to say that there's not a chance that Nina would ever involve herself in such a hare-brained scheme. It's far too risky not to mention expensive.
I'm surprised that Erick wasn't swarmed with cops as he was filling out those admission papers. The Mexican HIPAA privacy rules must be even tighter than those here in the US.
I know that Humberto is not a favorite here, but the concern he expressed for Franco taking advantage of a vulnerable Gabriela is not without merit.

-- Ashmore told Daniela at the beginning that he wasn't one for commitment – he just wanted to have a good time. I assumed that last night he was asking her if she was avoiding him because now what he had to offer wasn't serious enough.
--They seem to make some kind of distinction between just snatching up a baby out of malevolence or craziness and a calculated kidnaping where the object of the game is ransom. Consuelo had reported the crime immediately, but there was a delay in reporting the ransom demand. (There are a lot of things the police can do at that point, I suppose. You know, marking the ransom money, staking out the pick-up, apprehending idiot chimps, etc.)
Caridad, of course, is going to create exactly the situation that Eladio dreaded. The Franco-Caridad-Eladio connection will stay on the front page. (BTW, when she showed up on Gaby's doorstep and whined that she had nowhere else to turn....arrrrghhh!)

I think its hilarious that El estupido de Eric is exchanging texts with thug. Doesnt he know his phone will be checked???? Although he leaves the room when thug calls, I am surprised he can't be heard even if he is not on speaker phone, because I can usually hear most of the conversation when I am with someone and they take a call. Dont mean to listen, but their voice can be heard loud and clear. I will go back to the part when ERR(ic) is in front of Art and the nurse calls him to say bebe is very ill. Timing was awesome and he was so flustered, I thought it was so funny. When Art finds out ERR tries to rip them off again, he will of course blame La Nina and then all family members, including Connie, Miguel and even Petra will all bitch slap ERR.

Someone said that Erik could possibly claim that he paid the ransom, and immediately rushed the baby to the Hospital. I don't think this will fly, since the baby was brought in by a nurse way BEFORE Erik arrived at the hospital.
I don't think that Nina values her jewelry all that highly. UA (not Nina's biggest fan) asked earlier today:

I think that she realizes what a stunningly beautiful woman she is and believes that expensive jewelry may distract from her beauty. I also suspect that she will be livid at Erick for putting her grandson at risk. Nina is not the monster that the incessant and unrelenting propaganda here insists that she is. She is a good and faithful wife and a loving (if somewhat indulgent) mother.

Erick is the worst and gets more hateful with each episode. It's awful the way he has put his own family through this suffering and has scammed them out of money. I can't wait until he gets his. His anvil should be to be locked up for good since that's his worst fear.

Erick is a nasty piece of work and his feud with Franco started in the beginning of the story I think that Franco tried to get him to betray Arturo initially (by approaching him directly) and it didn't work. He then tried to get something on him so he could blackmail him or something, which was at the time Marintia was hired. She found a photo of Ape Child exiting a strip joint, but Franco didn't think that was enough.
Franco himself took a photo of him entering the Rat's building. He tried to blackmail him but Erick hired "Pedro" to beat Franco up and steal the cell phone with that photo (which he screwed up). It was after this that Franco set him up to reveal confidential information for a payoff he ultimately didn't get.
During the auto show Erick made nasty remarks to Franco about him being a nobody compared to himself, which started the motive to do Erick in. Franco got Pedro to cut Erick's brakes.
Franco himself took a photo of him entering the Rat's building. He tried to blackmail him but Erick hired "Pedro" to beat Franco up and steal the cell phone with that photo (which he screwed up). Thanks for the excellent recap Mauricio. I am also wishing death to Chimp Boy and Eladio's unfortunate spawn and your sparkling commentary had me LOL.
I'm hoping UA is right about Erick though there is a lot of time left. He needs to be exposed for the horrible idiot he is. Putting his family through a kidnapping only further demonstrates his stupidity and callousness. I'm hoping Nina does not condone this.
The lack of basic observation and life skills is so lacking in this tn. And Daisynjay's observation about the women in this tn is spot on as was Carlos' next regarding Miguel's deduction.

Even though Ashmore had said he didn't want commitments, just watch Daniela lose interest in him and he starts displaying obsessive behavior towards her. Men that think they are so slick with the ladies sometimes cannot handle being dumped. Look at ERick and his little rat. There are many others in the tn that are so full of thrmselves that they can't accept when someone walks away.

I agree. I don't think Assmore will take being dumped nicely. For sure, he'll still go after her and won't leave her alone. Not because he loves her, but because of his male ego. I can't wait until Arturo finds out about him and Daniela.
I don't think Nina will condone this. She loves her grandson and would never want to put him in any danger. If Erick tells her what he did, I hope she gives him a good smack across the face.

Between Daniela and chimpboy could be the end of Art. This time he cant completely blame Nina, he bribed a witness to get ERR off and just the other day he called him an assesino. He will surely feel like a fool because now ERR kidnaps his own spawn to steal all his familys money. He cant say he doing it for the rat this time. Mauricio, I agree about Assmore. His ego won't be able to handle being dumped by this wayward chick. The fact that he does business with Arturo is another element that will make this a bigger mess than Nina thought about when she originally objected to the relationship. She was right to object but she didn't see all the reasons.
The reason she won't condone Erick's actions is because they were doomed to failure and discovery could mean all is lost. She was blind to all his faults until now, but I don't think she can ignore his rank stupidity. The only smart thing he did was not to tell her because her ignorance of his plan means she can't be accused of or arrested as an accomplice.

Although Erick is greedy, I believe he did think far enough ahead that a babynapping wouldn't work UNLESS there is a ransom. Otherwise, why take a baby, or anyone. A baby has no political or social value except to the parents and their families. Erick assumed that using a ransom makes it a serious matter the family will deal with immediately. Then throw in the threat of harming/killing the baby if the ransom is not delivered toute de suite. (My opinion is that he's getting desperate to finish with all this--and now his baby is sick.)

Extreme, indeed, and it's a stretch to believe that she was neglecting her child because of a walk in a public park, accompanied by a friend.

I think that telenovelas used to have heroes, and the story revolved around the hero's journey and a happy ending with good rewarded and evil punished. Has this changed? This novela has no clear-cut voice of goodness and reason, whereas that function was filled through a priest or strong parental figure in older novelas. This novela has no priest and no strong , guiding parent figure. The psychologists are just not doing it for me.

Urban, that is brillant and true observation. You said something that I have been feeling for a long time but couldn't put my finger on. I would like to add that if and when the "self" reconsiders their position and tries to make changes, they are often made to feel they are selfish or uncaring, which leads to guilt.

Wow, UA..great analysis..what a list !! I guess I meant that I have not seen much selfless sacrifice lately in this novela especially from people who say that they love someone...I am especially looking at Art and Eladio. And I guess that after years of being a daughter,granddaughter, sister, friend, wife, mother, I am very familiar with the concept of sacrifice having been both the receiver and giver of such ;)♥

While I don't "see" Eladio's attraction to Caridad physically, with the exception of the Ratt, he does seem attracted to women with good hearts and souls. While I'm sure he appreciates Julia's outer beauty, she is generous, kind and loving and actually, Caridad is as well.
Niecie, I agree in hoping Gaby will take over her parent's business. She will need something to immerse herself in once her world crumbles even more when she learns the truth about Franco.

That is not a sacrifice but the consequences of his cheating. I do think Art did the right thing and accepted responsibility for his actions.

Gringo, not sure what she studied, but she is educated. But better than that, if she gives Auggie the time of day, she might have the support that a savvy corporate attorney can provide. Even if they don't make it as a couple, if he finds himself in need of a job, perhaps Gaby can use his services at her family's business. As it is we don't know how much money he has just taken from Arturo or the value of Nina's unseen jewelry. If he is stupid enough to try to fence any of it he will be caught. Unless I'm mistaken if he gives jewelry to Pedro instead of any cash Pedro won't be able to get its full value if he tries to fence it. That could cause him to turn on Erick, especially if he gets caught.
