Karmageddon for the Rich and Shameless: Pasión y Poder 4/8/16
Labels: Karmageddon, poder, weekend
Gaslighting Nina (and his children) by insisting that she was delusional and that he was not pursuing Julia or seeing her secretly and telling Nina that his feelings for Julia played no part in his desire for a divorce
Hiding assets (using the saintly slim cherubs Agustín and Miguel) in order to deprive Nina of her fair share in the divorce
Reneging on his shady deal (essentially a promised bribe) with Ashmore after eliminating Eladio as competition
Conspiring (and bribing) with Humberto to separate Julia from her lawful husband, Eladio
Opening up the opportunity for Erick to kidnap his own child and rape Coni by suborning false testimony keeping Erick out of jail
Insisting on going forward with the Mayan Riviera project in spite of its effect on the environment (destroying wetlands)
Circulating a false story (probably) about Eladio's part in Smith's demise
And maybe there should be accounting by Miguel and Agustín for conspiring with Arturo to defraud Nina, stalking and attempting to seduce married women (in Miguel's case his brother's spouse and in Agustín's someone of an inappropriate age), and Miguel for assault and attempted murder (he told Agustín that he wished that he had killed Erick) of his brother.
You're welcome,
Carlos
I've left Caridad off the list, but if anyone feels very strongly about it I will add her tomorrow. Since we have raised the issue of whether Mateo is Franco's child, this raises issues about what happens to him at the end of the tale.
And theres 3 weeks left. Theres manipulation up the wazoo goin on here. I hate that hummy, and artty, franco are doin that to juls. And because of it she had to give her son a well deservef slap last nite. The manipulaters are causing momas to slap their mealy mouth judgemental disrespecting kids. Well that take on some stuff. Wjo knowd I might change my thinkin if what I think is coming comes. I hope it don"t. Ok bye for now.
I just noticed that you left out Nina's one true crime for which she could be prosecuted... influencing the judge to favor Erick in the custody battle.

OT....I watched the first episode of season two Outlander last night. Get your drink of choice ready , and get ready for surprises.
I agree with you Nina regarding Eladio. I've said this several times, I think when people make a sincere effort they deserve to have it acknowledged. It doesn't erase the mistakes, they made, but it goes along way in being able to pardon them. Eladio is seeking to better himself, he is not perfect (are any of us?) But the act of going to therapy and being committed to it (I'm looking at you Dani) says so much about his growth as a person. he has a healthier relationship with David now and he's made great strides with Julia and allowing her to find herself and be her own person. He would really make it right if he would just come clean about Mateo and let the chips fall where they may. He thinks he's protecting Gaby from getting hurt but it's the opposite. Still I don't think his intentions are malicious, just very misguided.
Variopinta, I'd take Eladio any day over Arturo who just doesn't seem to me to think he has or ever does anything wrong; and when he does offer up an apology I don't believe him because he's right back to chasing Julia five minutes after. He doesn't care about his kids feelings or the affect his mid life crisis behavior may be having on them. Sure they are grown, but there have been repercussions to his actions and it has affected his family deeply. Still all he can muster up, is a so what. It's the same tired nonsense "Julia you and I love each other, we need to be together the way it always should have been" His kids and Nina were nothing but a road block to his destiny with Julia. Blah blah...what a selfish man.
I don't know how you managed to keep score of all the nefarious deeds in such a detailed, organized and fascinating manner, but you accomplished it. Kudos...
We are all flawed and have many trials and tribulations. But after reading this, I will simply say I consider myself fortunate and blessed that my problems pale in comparison and that I am not in the orbit of any of these characters.
Of everything listed, the canaries tugged at my heart the most. There have been many vulnerable characters here (with obvious disagreement as to who they are), but the abuse of these gentle birds stood out as particularly cold and cruel.
I'm starting to wonder if there will be any satisfying resolution to any of this.
Further, I am not sure I care any longer...
Diana
I'll add Caridad to all this tomorrow. I'm just back from a film and I'm beat.
Nothing to say on punishment, just wish all these people would mend their ways.
In relationships, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are Criticism, Contempt, Defensiveness and Stonewalling.
We've had countless illustrations of that plus the more serious decisions of corruption, dishonesty, infidelity, physical and emotional abuse, suborning witnesses, drug addiction, financial fraud and killing...whether deliberate or accidental.
The Golden Rule has been around for centuries and while most folks admire it, few practice it. And certainly not in these stories.
At this point, I think most of us just want the carnage to be over...one way or another. And as Carlos would say Next!
She is a wishy-washy, sniveling pain in the tush. Says (she wants nada to do with Arturo) then stupidly puts herself in the position of being with him. Keeps saying she is so confused, for 100 episodes!.
Nina is starting to have an arc, from money spending wife to savvy businesswoman. And she is coming to truth with the state of her children.
Poor JS as Art has had no arc at all. It's Julia, Julia, Julia all of the time.
Speaking of, I was hoping once Julia was divorced she would really spread her wings and try different things. For all intents and purposes her life hasn't changed. Soo disappointing!
Just added Caridad to the list and realized that there is a unique challenge to Karmageddon discussion for this series: It's that certain characters' fates are more tied together than usual. Caridad, Marintia, and possibly Marcos are tied to Franco and while Marintia has previously seemed aware of who Franco really is and is in on his financial fraud scheme, Caridad is not. Franco talked her into trying to seduce Eladio but knows that she will fail. This was done either to humiliate her or purely as a distraction so she doesn't realize what he is really up to.
Marintia may now be deluding herself as to his future intentions, which (outside of the takeover) we don't really know. We don't know whether he really intends to be a father to little Mateo although he's putting on a good show of that for Marintia's benefit. We don't know if he intends to remain married to Gabriela or whether he will do so only long enough to pull off the hostile takeover.
If Franco succeeds in that scheme and destroys Eladio, rightly or wrongly he loses Gabriela because she has come to care for Eladio. If he is found out before that he could still lose her unless he shoves her away; she is that delusional. If Marintia doesn't flee and take the baby with her she will also fall. Caridad will fall because Eladio will either think she is involved or will realize that her unknown role in all this was to distract him from Franco's actions.
As Delilah63 pointed out, there is also the possibility of a serious curve ball in all this, which is that Mateo isn't really Franco's child. He's too small for us to see any real resemblance and there hasn't been a DNA test. Franco should remember that Eladio avoided a DNA test for 20 years that proved David is his, so it would be supremely ironic if he were to fall for the idea that a baby is his when he's not.
Marcos will fall with Franco if he can't cut and run. He is as cowardly as Leo Bloom, and if the phantom company in his name is tied to Franco, he can't and he will either be killed by Franco if he tries to rat him out or he will end up in the slammer.
Forgot to mention her in the above, but Angeles also will fall with Franco, since she has been tied to him through the corporate espionage and now works for him, as she would not be able to get work elsewhere. Prison for however long Mexico sentences people for this.
Marintia is involved in the financial fraud, so she could end up in prison if she doesn't rat him out to Eladio in time, run and take Mateo, or Franco doesn't kill her first. I don't remember whether any of the phantom companies are in her name, but I would think it unlikely.
Whatever happens to Caridad will probably depend on what happens to Franco himself. If he dies she might commit suicide if that doesn't leave Mateo desemparado. This leaves the issue of who would adopt the baby, which could depend on what happens to Gabriela, David, Regina, and anyone connected to them.
Talk about a set of dominoes! This is the most brilliant thing the writers have done with this story.
Need to finish reading all comments, which is frosting on the cake.
The only thing that came to my mind, maybe, its already been mentioned by someone else already. Well, Ashmore got rejected by both Art, Eladio, and Dani,he was not happy. He is vengeful hateful Individual. I totally feel he is disgruntled and maybe he will plot to hurt and payback the Montenegro's and GLA by burning down hotels, or homes. I see it in his beady eyes.
Leticia
As I see it, Eladio will probably self-destruct. This final rejection from Julia in combination with getting a new shrink could send him off the precipice into arson (the flicking Zippo) or something else.
The comments are just super. How can I add to them? I don't know but after last night, I tend to agree with you 5:3100 PM that Eladio may now be on the self destruct road. A big fire is very possible, I'm not looking forward to it.
the gringo
If Daniela does anything nasty again to Regina or David, I'm ready to vote her off the planet. If not and let's say Assmore gets to her first let her end up in a psyche ward from a really bad drug trip.
Both of the above will be Nina's punishment. Imagine how the cellblock will behave if she ever visits Ape Child in prison and they look at her a little too long?
Although I'd recommend to Marintia to fly -- not run -- back to Argentina.
Regina -- for constantly breaking out in tears at what she perceives as affronts to her when in fact her problems are to a great extent her own doing. And for reenacting the exact same role she just had in La Sombra del Pasado. And for succumbing to the writers' demands by stringing along poor hapless Turtle Boy. Yo, George, are you really the only person in the world who knows your case is hopeless?
Maribel -- Yes, we know you already died, but you deserve a second helping after that maudlinisimo performance way back. Those scenes still come back to me like acid reflux.
