Three Faces of Ana # 9&10- 5/27/16 From Frying Pan To Fire: Soledad’s Small World Just Got Smaller

As Santiago and Ana Lucia, aka Ana Lucky, express their shared relief in finding each other again, Soledad enters the hallway. She is stir-fried-fit-to-be-tied impactada, seeing THE MAN hugging and kissing on HER DAUGHTER.  (What a waste of a good high-tail it outta town plan, eh, Sole?) She growls at Santi to back off Ana Lucky.  Ana Lucky heads back to the room with her towels.  Remedio’s watches a bit at the nasty interplay between Sole and San, then heads off to chat up Ana Lucky.

While Soledad and Santiago butt heads over him keeping his distance from Ana Lucia, Remedios and Ana Lucia carry on like it’s old home week in San Nicolas.  They put names to faces and talk about the feelings San and Lucky share for each other and how he’s like the son she never had.  She’ll put in a good word to Mama about him for her.

Soledad, meanwhile, lies about hiding her fear of Santiago.  He swears she has no reason to fear him.  But, he is certain she must know him.  Nope.  She says it’s only that she know when his regains his memory and returns to his old life, he’ll leave Ana Lucia out in the cold and make her eventually suffer.  He swears he won’t. (Of course, somewhere in this observation, Viewerville realizes, there must be a grain of truth, considering this is telenovela land where suffering to survive is the name of the game.)

Meantime, Ana Lucky learns that Remi’s dead hubby was an investigator.  (Sounds like sales as all I heard.  Sorry.)  His last words to her were “Santiago’s in danger.  Protect him.”  So, she nursed him all during his recuperation and came to love him like a son.  She even gave him her last name, Garcia.  Just then Sole harrumphs her way in.  Remi leaves.   They’re packing their bags and leaving!  This man is not right for her and it’s not right they’re all living under the same roof!  Besides, he’s just too obsessed with her.  Ana Lucia gently puts her foot down.  “—I have always supported you,
Mama.  I left my home, my school, and all my friends.  But, this time no.  I am in love with this man.  He’s decent.  What would it cost to be a bit more understanding towards me about this?”

Across the city, somewhere in UpTown, Wheelchair Boy’s taxi has followed Ana Llora to her in-town estate, the family manse of expanse.  Ana Laura walks in on Ana Leticia, aka Ana Letmeeeeeeeeeeeee!, vamping all over Tio Mariano, who is grooving on this type of perverse and perverted attention as much as Ana Letmeeeeee is grooving on giving it.  The doorbell rings.  Ana Letmeeee takes it now to Ramiro, but Ramiro is wise and only has eyes for love-worthy, limping Ana Llora.

Back at Pensión de Tensión, Santiago and A Lucky are on the back patio, wrapped in each other’s arms, swearing eternal love to one another.  She mentions that Chana told her their two lives were intertwined and together they’ll discover who they really are.

Inside the rooming house, Soledad is wondering why “her daughter” had to fall in love with the man who is determined to destroy her.  Remi comes in to chat.  Sole informs her she and A Lucky are leaving in the morning.  She and Remi begin arguing over Santi’s decency or lack thereof.  Sole ends up warning Remi that one day when Santiago regains his memory, she will rue the day she let the man enter her life. Remi naively ignores this and continues defending him and his relationship with Ana Lucia.

At dinner later that evening at the Manse de Expanse A Llora watches meekly as A Letmeeee, fawns over Ramiro, even trying the old hidden hand up the thigh trick with him.  He doesn’t go for it.  Granny begins bawling over lost Ana Lucia and Mariano takes her off to another part of the house for a consoling chat.
Across the way at Tension Pension, Soledad and Ana Lucky meet the other boarders: Tadeo and younger son, Javier, whose big brother is none other than A. Letmeeee’s accursed sales associate, Iñaki!!  When Javi tells him Santi´s dream girl is now living at the house with her mother, he races in for a look-see and races back out again as apparently Anibal has grabbed him to ask for his money back that he loaned him.

A few minutes later Santi heads off to look for Iñaki but Anibal has scared off Iñaki asking for the money he loaned him two months ago.  Anibal and Santi head back into the dining room and sees A. Lucky and her mama there.  Mama has learned that A Lucky hooked up with Santi during the gymnastics festival and met Anibal there also.  She grunts and growls at everybody.  A Lucky has a job now. (So Mama will have to stick around!)

Back at the manse, Ram and A Llora discuss the car break in and the one clue he’s come back with.  Apparently, listed in some of Marcello’s notes there was a little girl named Sofia Hernandez who died at 5 and was cremated.  A Letmeeeee interrupts the chat and adds she thinks it was probably Ana Lucia who had died and was cremated and bursts A Llora’s she’s really ali-i-i-i-ve bubble.  Why the name change if they all wore their I.D. bracelets?  Well, the only thing they can do to find out why is to track down Soledad Hernandez, her mother.

Inside the manse, A Letmeeee is thinking back to a memory about Marcello arguing with Evaristo while Ev holds a gun on him.  She suddenly opens the door and she’s got a gun in her face also.  A Letmeeeee suddenly turns vicious and spouts she hopes wherever Ana Lucia is she’s good and D.E.A.D.!!!

Out on the patio again, Ana Llora squeaks out that she wonders what Ramiro really wants with her, hanging around as he has since returning home.  He says he’s in love with her.  She says he was gone for three years without a word.  He insists he thought of her daily.  He wants to marry her.  She has flashbacks to helping Gina look for bridal gowns.  (Gina’s low-rent tastes truly contrast with the high-rent neighborhood.)  She walks out of the dressing room in a white thigh-high mini looking like a hooker posing for penthouse johns with a thing for virginal bride stock. “—Oh this is for Ramiro.  He loves ladies’ legs!”   Ana Llora returns to the present and grabs Ram’s hand, rubbing it down her fake leg.  “—Have you really thought it through?  If it is for pity or because you think I need a caretaker you’re absolutely wrong!”  She lets the damn burst again and walks (most rigidly) away from him.

End of the first part.
===========
2nd and final part

Santiago, the Good Samaritan, offers to take Soledad and A Lucky to the clinic--ingratiating himself, rather--and Sole has no choice but to accept.  They end up sitting in the waiting room with nobody calling her name.   Santi, true to his name, finds a secretary and gets her to get his doc to check on Sole.    While sitting in the waiting room, Sole has another go at bad mouthing Santi and this relationship with Ana Lucky.  Sole finally gives up, admitting Ana Lucky is old enough to make up her own mind.  (Thank you TN Gods!  Finally a mama who knows when she's lost the battle and shuts the F up.) Lucky insists on going in with Mama.   She needs tests.  Who knows?

Iñaki pays Remi his rent. The two gossip about Santi's new GF and his new job.

Ana Letmeeee has another meet with Ev.  It's not to find her hubby, but to find out who Sofia Hernandez is.  (Dun Dun Dun Dunnnnnnnnnn!)  Ev lies (natch), in between gum chomps, and says he hasn't a clue who she is but sure as shootin' he'll find out!!  First, tho', he wants to know what she heard and how she found out.  Ana Leticia is too smart for that old gumshoe trick and tells him so.  He was her hubby's investigator for years, Viewerville learns.  We see the flashback to the argument she remembers and reminds him of.  Sure, he was loyal--until he wasn't!!  Some argument with Marcello where Ev had a gun pointed at Marc; it was over his diverting an throwing everything off track to hide something or someone.   Remedios' hubby was the other investigator, we learn, also working for Marc.  He's just as pissed off at Ev (I think) cuz he points the gun at Ev and it's a regular Mexican standoff.....

So, back in San Nicolas, Don Crazy Old Fart has lost his marbles and his mask comes off finally.  He screams at Chano to tell him where Sole and A Lucia have gone cuz she's obviously pissed he wants to marry her 25 yr. old daughter (and he supposedly figures he's such a catch the young gal will fall at his feet and beg him to take her to his bed, right?  Sorry, bud.  When it comes to a choice between beef cake beans, beef cake always takes it off the top.)  He threatens to find them come hell or high water.  Chano cannot believe the old fartsicle is serious and thinks he's got more than a few frijoles loose in the cabeza.

Later that day, Iñaki sets out to get the owner's bitch witch niece on his side.  He invites her to lunch at a super swank restaurant and has even brushed up  wines.  He picks out her favorite to order.  She repays him with a lift home.

Across town, Ana Llora is entering the Cripple Kids' Center.  Wheel Chair Boy is stalking her.

Santi takes Ana Lucia and Sole on the promised tour of the city.  They end up at a church where both pray to the virgencita.  Lucky wants mama healthy.  Sole wants forgiveness for kidnapping/keeping Lucky from her rightful family for the past two decades.

Back at the CKC, A Llora tells the director friend, Valeria, that why she turned down Ramiro's marriage proposal.  Val tells her she's a fool.  But, Llora replies, weepily, that one look at her without her prosthetic leg will surely wreck their wedding night.  (Talk about a limp wimp....)  On a lighter note, they suddenly hear very pleasant oboe music.  It's coming from inside the center and they find Wheelchair Boy doing a quick concert for the kids.  (Whoever is playing that music, it's a great choice and sounds terrific!  I give an A+ to the music editor!)

Now back to the Community Clinic in MidTown: we find that Granny Ernestina is seeing her doctor there also for her usual checkup.  She really does have a heart condition.  She's refused to tell her granddaughters about it.............We also get a PSA on taking one's heart medicine, even if it tastes bad.

Beaming back to the CKC, A Llora learns the Wheelchair Boy's name is Valentin.  She admits to him in a frank discussion that she wishes she had some of his optimism rub off on her.  He encourages her to take life by the horns.

Eventually, Sole, Santi and A Lucky arrive back at the boarding house.  He parks on the curb outside.   Remi comes out to greet them.  Sole and Remi go back inside while Santi and A Lucky take a walk around the block.  A few minutes after, A Letmeeeeee pulls up right behind Santi's empty cab and drops of Yaki at the curbside.  She races off down the street and doesn't notice she's driven right past her missing sister and Marcello kissing each other passionately.  She's too eager to get home..... and takes the turn without really stopping for the stop sign (if there was one.....).

Meanwhile, A Llora takes Valentin's advice and has a change of plans.  She orders her driver in another direction.

Yaki and Javi discuss how he's gotten RichBitch to eat out of the palm of his impoverished middle class hand.

Ramiro and Papa have another discussion about marrying A Letme who, at least, has both her legs, instead of her maimed and lamed sister.  Ram says nope.  Nothin' doin'.  He doesn't want her or her emotional baggage.  A Letme enters unseen in the meantime and over hears this convo.  Papa leaves them to their own devices......  A Leticia tries the cheeky-then- sensual one-two approach of persuading him that Pappi was right.  She fairly hisses in his ear as she taunts: "How odd it would be, you making love to a leg prosthesis!" Then  A Letme tries to seal her steal with a heavy-duty swapping of spit and a tongue  chaser--just as her bleakly meek and timid triplet, Ana Llora, walks in to witness the scene!!!!!!!!!!

Gracias Jardinera

I wasn't very impressed with this episode to be honest. Inaki dodged Ana Lu TWICE while Ana Let dodged Ana Lu and Santi/Marcelo.

Ana Laura had a crying fit as always. She got encouraged by both Valeria & Valentin to put herself together but she will obviously be crying again due to Ana Let planting a unwanted kiss on Ramiro thus becoming the centre of attention next episode yet again. Ana Let was right.

Grandma has a deadly heart disease but refuses to tell her family. Yet another cliche crossed off my list.

Soledad turns out to be an utter annoyance. I kind of prayed for her to get something when the doctor was checking on her.

Dumb Isidro obviously has creepy plans for Ana Lu but I havent seen the actor playing a villian so he might get redeemed just for that.

The only good news is that there was no Orlando or Marifea this episode.

I may only be watching because of Ana Let & Inaki but if the show doesn't show us something interesting other than the hundred times chewed over cliches I am done.

Unbeknownst to Ernestina, it's a GOOD thing she hasn't told the girls. AnaLet would help her to her death.

AnaLau would have self esteem issues even if she had both legs. She's known Ramiro for years, why would he be a golddigger all of a sudden? If anyone is a gold digger it would be Valentin, not Ramiro.

Soledad will probably be found to be sick, after they run the blood tests.

Maribel will figure AnaLu went to Mexico City to join the dance company and will soon follow with Orlando, if she was smart, she would let AnaLu stay in Mexico and have Orlando all to herself.

Count, I'm sort of with you on being rather let down last night and finishing the shows this morning. (Had to watch the CAVS clinch. WOOHOO!)

I kept waiting for something new, but really it's either me that the "new" is so trite and clichéd that I feel like I've seen it before, or I just was not interested in the scene. That latter part is pretty much anything with Soledad, and watching AnaLa weeping for the umpteenth time. I realize her sister is purposefully causing much of that to happen, but lord, whenever AnaLa appears on my screen, I want to go get a snack since it's becoming more and more predictable what will happen.

I'm starting to wonder about this stretching to 140 episodes, whether it's in two parts or not. I like watching Rulli and Bowyer playing the Santi/AnaLu characters because their chemistry is off the charts. But now I'm thinking that yes, I got spoiled with El Hotel and Yago and am having a hard time readjusting to the snail's pace cliché of the older type TN.

I agree Daisynay. El Hotel, Yago and other productions especially Giselle & Moreno productions were known to be fast and unpredictable. There was high interest in these shows in our patio. They had some cliches but the amount of work that went into each of the characters was fascinating. Not many characters were "liked" but that was becuase people had different opinions about them, our heads hurt from thinking. In cliche shows you can guess what will happen already with little trouble because you have already seen the repetetive storylines.

Jardinera, it has been a while since I've read one of your recaps so this was most welcome. It was excellent.

"stir-fried-fit-to-be-tied impactada" and "Viewerville realizes, there must be a grain of truth, considering this is telenovela land where suffering to survive is the name of the game" were among many favorites.

"...Soledad’s Small World Just Got Smaller" was simply great.

I agree daisy and fully expect Soledad to receive an unexpected diagnosis (be careful what you say lest it become a reality). I'm not that intrigued by the Soledad character as written. I don't loathe her but don't feel sorry for or feel for her. She stole a child from her family to fill her own loss and emptiness and the past is quickly catching up to her.

Am enjoying Santi and Ana Lucia. I want to like Ana Laura and Ramiro but her incessant whining and worrying is distracting. Ana Leticia is by far the most interesting of the three. Everyone is fair game in her eyes and even though she seems to care for her sister (shown after her recent nightmare) the feelings don't seem to translate to daytime where she thinks nothing of trying to push her (and Ramiro's buttons) so to speak.

It takes me a while to settle into these and am hoping this will be easier to follow next week when we will be down to 1 hour...

Thanks again Jardinera.

Diana

Ana Laura was not written to be a realistic representation of disabled people. The producer abused the theme to make a character that is chronically depressed for more ratings. People like to watch sad people like Vicki Ruffo. Yes there are some individuals with disabilities that never get up but a lot of them embrace it for the better. People would kill for that prothesis. I hope she does realize that she skipped a line full of people with lower economic status for her to stand on full toes. Ramiro should marry Ana Let just to piss off Ana Laura.

Soledad will surely get something lethal in the future. It is a given when you enter a church to pray for undeserved forgiviness. The Karma gods are very genereous but not that merciful either!

Forgot to say thanks Jardinera!

Also I Loled when Oboe stalker suddenly appear making everyone's day brighter. He would be a great detterent against Marifea although I am certain that Marifea& Owlando belong together.

AnaLlora, ha! Love it, Jardinera. Great Part 1!

I knew in episode one that the weeper was going to get on my nerves. The writers don't seem to know that there are other ways to express that AnaLlora is self conscious about appearing naked before a man without her prosthetic on, without making her into this weepy, pitiful creature. I hope this changes soon. Indeed Countx, this an insult to amputees everywhere.

One bit of clarification- Inaki did not see AnaLu in the dining room. Anibal grabbed him and yanked him out of the dining room to demand his money, before he saw more than the back of her head.

I continue to enjoy Santi and AnaLu and the fact that it's making Soledad so nervous. I didn't like Soledad badmouthing Santi to Remedios. Just because in his other life he's trying to make HER pay for the CRIME he committed, doesn't make him a bad person. To the contrary. The only innocent person who's going to get hurt is AnaLu, because he's married to her sister. Remedios will be the surprise that her husband wasn't a salesman, but instead an investigator.

Typo: The crime SHE committed...

Jardinera- Could you change the episode numbering to #9 &10, to fall in line with the numbering from the rest of the week.

Gracias, Jardinera.

Love your title and "stir-fried to be tied" about Soledad. Karma is catching up with her and while it doesn't look as though she had evil intentions she is definitely going to pay down the road.

As to the irritation some of you are feeling toward Ana Laura, I don't see her crying as a constant demand for attention. I've known a few people like this and Ana Laura is not one of them. I am irritated by her meekness but can see where it came from. If she can be convinced by a good shrink that having this disability is not the be-all and end-all of her life she can see that she is stronger than Ana Leticia who needs to torment her to feel good about herself.

Beauty isn't everything and attractive people are at a highly unfair advantage until they lose their looks. Predicting now that Ana Leticia will end up losing her looks at the end of this tale.

Yes, I agree w everyone that the cliches are so boring. I actually fell asleep Thurs and Friday and that Never happens!!!! I am watching because I like AB and SR, even with them AB working grueling three roles....still.
I am trying to hang in there, but now I regret not watching Yago.

You can still catch up to Yago; they've only aired 13 episodes so far.

Hi all:
I just added the last comment from the other page I'd started. I had computer problems and had to put this up here now on a new page. Sorry.

I am typing up part 2. I certainly hope this goes back to 1 hr slots. Sheesh!

Urban , Ana Llora (Love that nickname Jardinera!) has been convinced by several people and the environment she frequents. She frequents disabled people every single day as a volunteer. As a pianist she read the tales of disabled artists which still managed to become legends. But I agree that only a decent naked shrink will manage to convince her !

The only disabled/amputee character that I genuinely liked was Julian from Yo No Creo.

Sorry all. I heard vendador not investigator, but I've changed it. I am in the midst of doing the last half.

Sorry also, cuz I didn't see who pulled Inaki at all. I looked up and he was spitting his food out. I had to assume. Then I wondered all through it why he didn't say anything to anybody about the costeña.

Ok. I think all corrections are in.

Really appreciate this Jardinera cause like you this show puts me to sleep.

"Pensión de Tensión"

Lucia is in for a tough lesson. If you find a dog in the park with a tag it is not a stray.

After seeing the flashback of a menacing Marcelo I understand Soledad's flight and warning (tepid but she should be screaming) to Ana Lucia. She needs to get Lucia away from the sleeper thug.

Sounds like Leticia and Ramiro had a near drunk hookup when Marcelo was still alive.

Thanks, Jardinera - a great recap, and I - too- love Ana Llora! I think this one is going to stick ;)

I believe the producer was on the toilet while making this show . It could have been renamed Tres Feces Ana :)

Jardinera, thank you for a fine Part 2.

"Ev lies (natch), in between gum chomps" and "Yaki and Javi discuss how he's gotten RichBitch to eat out of the palm of his impoverished middle class hand" were great.

If Ana took Valentin's advice "She admits to him in a frank discussion that she wishes she had some of his optimism rub off on her. He encourages her to take life by the horns" this would get very interesting, very quickly.

It shouldn't be necessary that the two Ana's be so far apart. What is the victory for Leticia taking something/anyone away from her sister, who is afraid of her own shadow? Being with Valentin is the only time she has smiled as though she means it and her fear and pity leave her.

I would like to see Leticia be a more formidable ally.

Diana

I would like to see Leticia have a more formidable opponent.

Diana

Thanks, Jardinera, for an excellent recap. Even as a viewer I will be happy to be down to one episode a night. Five nights of double episodes was a little too much.

Anyway, I am enjoying this one so far just because it is predictable and I don't have to think much. Seems like a perfect summer novela.

The characters I dislike the most: Ana Laura of the endless waterworks and Orlando who cannot understand "not interested in YOU".

Soledad does not bother me because she is fighting for survival if the truth gets out.

I am liking David Zepeda. He is so much better when he is not having to fill another actor's shoes as in HEFDM.

It will be fun seeing what Ana Leticia's next move will be.

Thanks Jardinera for the recap and I really like your nicknames (I may ask to "borrow" some of them) You managed to keep the pace of the recap up and keep us entertained.

Inaki is my favorite character right now and I didn't expect that at all.
I would love to see an Inaki, Bad seed, Evaristo team up, it'd be entertaining as all git out.

Ana Lucia will be Ana Leticia's formidable ally:

1) Ana Le is instrumental in keeping Analu away from her family and rightful share of the fortune

2) they will be fighting for the love of Santiago/Marcelo

3) Analu will be carving out a place for herself with Ernestina and Mariano

Sneaky, ITA that would be a challenging trio of no good but fun, fun , fun!

Anon207: Din't you mean "opponent"?

Thanks, Jardinera. My faves: "Sure, he was loyal--until he wasn't!!" and "the old fartsicle".

Funny when Ana Lucia and Santiago lifted up his shirt on a busy street to inspect his tattoo. No sympathy for Soledad, but she is right when she says Santi will hurt her daughter (though he won't mean to do this). Santi/Marcelo seemed to never realize what a beyotch he married. All his flashback/dreams of Ana Leticia are sweet and longing, so I can see him returning to the holder of his matching tattoo.

Fingers crossed that Ana Laura won't do the predictable and assume Ramiro wants Ana Leticia. I actually thought she was pretty bold to put Ramiro's hand on her prosthetic leg.

Thanks all for taking time to read and to comment. I have to agree that it is a good summertime tn for us. It has had a couple of non formulaic turns which I appreciated, like Santi and Ana Lucia meeting again the next day instead of years later. Also, I do like the mystery and flashback filler-inner scenes that continue to give us more and more information about the mysterious past--just as if we're the ones suffering amnesia. I have to compliment AB for giving us three unforgettable personalities and characters. ¡Brava! Eric del Castillo has the gum chewing gumshoe P.I. to a Tee. Love his portrayal.

I give you other recappers full use of whatever nicks you care to use.

Thanks for a great recap Jardinera!!!

It would be nice if Ana Laura got some backbone and blamed Ana Leti to cming onto Ram but that won't happen. This gives her the reason to push him away and let Val, creepy stalker, in.

I wish Ana Leti had a more formidable opponent too. I don't think that will happen until Ana Lu is on the scene and even then I think it will take time. I'm sure Ana Leti will be at her sister best to manipulate.

I'm thinking Ev is reonsible for the car accident that took out Rem's husband and Marcelo's memory. He got rid of both of the people who knew the truth abt Soledad. Funny all he has done to help a person who refuses to acknowledge him. He wants her to be a daughter and she thinks nothing of him but her mom's boy friend who won't leave her alone.

Really hope Gina is dead. How could Ram have proposed to someone so awful? She couldn't have hid her true personality around him that well.

Hey, sorry to crash this comment thread, but i have a question with nowhere to ask, so I thought maybe someone here would know the answer.

Is Yago coming back? If so, when? Tomorrow? Next week?

Cathyx- Tonight!

Thanks Vivi. I'm all caught up with this week off.

Thanks, Jardinera. "What a waste of a good high-tail it outta town plan, eh, Sole?" Yeah!! I love how the walls just keep closing in on Soledad.

I really thought/hoped the doctor would find something wrong with Soledad. I was thinking of a Love Boat rerun I saw recently where a man lied to his girlfriend and said he was incurably ill so as not to have to marry her, but she made him go see Doc for a second opinion (because who wouldn't hold the expertise of a cruise ship's doctor in greater esteem than that of a specialist). Doc examined him and found that he really did have something serious.

Darned nice of that doctor to agree to see her that very same day, without demanding to talk to her doctor in the village or anything first. Oh, where's my tinfoil hat...

Surely the writers have dramatically exaggerated with Ana Lauras character. They totally changed the psychology of the disabled triplet of Lazos DE amor. Maria Fernanda was all the opposite, despite her blindness she was a joyful person, maybe a little bit innocent, but so wise that she was kind of Maria Paulas conscience.

Ooh! Jardinera, bonus points for "Don Crazy Old Fart."

Thanks to all of the recappers whom participated in last week's semana de estreno.

Unfortunately I must bear bad news. Univision has pulled out the scissors on this show. Unbelievable, Unfortunate and True this tragic notice is. Thank you, that is all.

-Humble Pie
