Yago Capitulo 22: The clock is ticking

There won't be any episode tonight because of football.

We had one flashback in this episode in which Sara hands of her ring after having sex with Omar. She leaves him with the ring on the table  only for the police to abruptly wake Omar from his sleep,

Lucio: Lucio thought that he already had his share of bad luck but it's only just begun. He begins to suspect that Sara is cheating on him  rightfully so since Yago &Sara are having hot car sex! Lucio calls Sara. Yago tells her to ignore the call but Sara responds either way without feeling shame nor remorse saying only "I can't talk right now, I'm coming now" . Lucio is sitting alone almost drunk until Matias interrupts his drinking session asking for Lucio's wellbeing. Lucio is clearly almost off his limits but he constrains himself enough to put Matias back to bed. Sara later comes  back home only to find Lucio waiting for her as if Sara was his mum. He asks her where she was and Sara makes a shiny excuse "My car broke down, I had to go for gasoline" . She tries to wake up Matias but Lucio prevents it since it took him so long to bed him. Lucio makes Sara promise that they will try working on the marriage for the sake of Matias.  Sara agrees and later goes to bathe. Lucio tries to do it in the bathroom but Sara rejects his advances.  With all of the signs Lucio gets the idea and confronts Yago about it. He wants Yago to find out the secret lover. Yago believes Lucio sounds obsessed and crazy but goes along with the idea.  The duo follows Sara to a garage when Sara gets a call from DING DING DING Lucio! Sara lies to Lucio that she is in the supermarket buying Matias ice cream. Lucio get's tired of the lying witch so the duo decides to follow Sara into the hornet's nest. They arrive at the location only to find Sara sitting alone. Lucio demands Yago to suck info out of Sara. Yago abuses the opportunity to flirt with her telling Sara to play it cool because Lucio is stalking behind. Sara seems fully intend to betray her husband. Lucio seemed to eavesdrop on them but did not find anything unusual in her behavior . Yago tells him that Sara just needs more love and affection. Much later Lucio &Sara seem to reconcile (Sara says that she has lied to him for personal space)  but the suspicion is still up in the air.

Abel: Lorenzo abruptly wakes Abel up with news of his dream and his new lead name "Lucio". Abel tries to manipulate Lucio into thinking that dreams are not very reliable. Abel is sure that Lorenzo overheard the name of his boss and muzzled it up in his dream. He sends Lorenzo back to bed. The next day Lorenzo is on his tablet browsing clues about dream recovery. Abel tells him that it's all BS and generally tries to distract Lorenzo from the subject but he soon gets ticked off. He demands Lorenzo to stop it because Abel won't be able to protect him for an eternity (This reminds me of the fable "Frog and the Scorpion" ) . Ambar comes later for the rescue. She is happy to see Lorenzo but Lorenzo tells her that coming back wasn't such an idea. He excuses himself to the bathroom while Ambar tries to convince Abel to allow himself a family. Ambar later takes a picture of Abel & Lorenzo. Abel headed Ambar's advice  and offered Lorenzo a trip to his hometown, United States.
Lorenzo agreed hugging Abel. Abel later asks Yago for a job since there isn't anything to do. Yago agrees.

Katia: Katia is confronted by Selma for doing a  DNA  test behind her back thus withholding information. Katia tells Selma that she only did it to bribe Yago back to her side. She notices a newspaper that contains news of her estranged family. Her sister just married without her getting informed. After Katia almost falls back to her addiction later calls Yago. She steals some of the bottles but drives to AA instead tossing the bottles in the trash.  The chief was quite eager to see her. Katia holds a speech about her life and her estranged family refusing to invite her to the wedding. The speech attracts Raul, a member of AA who is actually Camilo's infiltrated spy. After the speech he begins flirting her asking her to become his patron. Katia falls to the bait and agrees. Raul later informs Camilo that the mission was a success.

Yago&Ambar: Ambar had quite a frustrating encounter with Sara where Ambar asked Sara about her past deeds which angered Sara to the point that she blamed Ambar for everything instead of her own selfish pussy. After venting to uncaring Yago , Matias gives Yago a pony as thanks for saving him. They all later go to Melina's . Melina learns that Ambar is Yago's novia.  Melina has a one on one with Yago. She demands Yago to tell her the truth in exchange for her help. Yago does tell her but Melina does not believe it at all. Yago gets angered and leaves Melina crying.

Ale&Damian: After Ale's failed widow scam, Damian desires to mentor her but he wants to test her first. He teaches her that observation is the trick of successful scams. He puts Ale to a quick observation test involving the widow and she passes. Ale is later invited to a first lesson of scammery. She pretends to be an appraiser( A person who determines value of items). Damian pretends to be an disgruntled customer claiming that his bracelet is worth much more than Ale claims. Ale pretends to phone her friend while Damian excuses himself to a bathroom. Ale says to some old man that the bracelet is indeed worth much more! Damian returns only for Ale to pretend that she ran out of money. The old man helps her. When he leaves Damian congratulates Ale on the successful scam. He takes Ale to his hotel room. He warns Ale that she needs to be sure first before they continue. She agrees and Damian calls her "princess" . Idiot Bruno later meets up with Ale again but he doesn't suspect anything. Knowing Damian the countdown to New Year's Bang has just begun.

Looking forward to it, Countx.

Abel has really gotten himself into a tight situation with Lorenzo. What else will he remember? He's a ticking time bomb.

I'm worried for Ale as she gets in deeper with Damian and tells no one. Also worried for Maria, since Camilo has her in his sights as a way of getting to Yago. Proud of her for not drinking and going to AA instead. AA group leader was cute...

Lucio is going to blow up soon, if Sara keeps doing such a lousy job of hiding her affair and that she has no desire for Lucio to touch her.

Tablet auto corrected Katia to Maria.

Grrrrr, 3xAna on at 10, no Yago, I protest

Thanks, Countx!

Sara is very much enjoying this game with Yago and Lucio. She underestimates how dangerous Lucio could be, even though he's a coward. Very low of her to blame Ambar for her betrayal of Omar. This is why I think Ambar has a right to know the dirt, because in many ways Sara holds resentments against Ambar for her sh*tty choices, and at times she takes it out on Ambar. I even think that in some ways this affair with Yago is partly about getting back at Ambar for "forcing" her into this life.

Lucio didn't just put Matias back to bed-- he made him a full meal, since the growing boy said he was hungry. So not only was Lucio pining away, waiting at home for his cheating spouse, he was also slaving away over a hot stove and tending to their child. Lots of role reversal here.

Countx, looking forward to your recap.

I will admit to enjoying Yago yanking Lucio's chain last night. "Your wife's having an affair? It can't be!" I get why Yago has not simply taken the casino away and used the tape to cart Lucio and Abel to prison. It's too much fun to see Lucio squirm and Sara thinking she's got it made with Yago. At the same time, I'm glad Melina gave Yago a hard time about messing with Ambar, but seeing her champion Lucio as if he were a son, ugh! Nobody's all good or bad (except Camilo!) here.

Oh no, there's a fake AA guy marking Katia. Nothing better happen to her.

I don't blame Ambar for pumping Melina the other day. She wants facts/details, which Sara and Damian won't give. I think she makes a good living with her photography and money is not an issue for her.

Why so much soccer on this particular channel? I thought Univision has other channels (e.g. Unimas) mainly devoted to sports?

Perhaps this reflects the low regard that Univision has for the current season of telenovleas.

GoBlueFan- They are showing soccer on Unimas too. It's the Copa America (the championship for the Americas), so there are tons of games every day, many simultaneously, for a month. The last day is June 26th. In addition to Univision and Unimas, Fox Sports is broadcasting some of the matches in English. This is the first time the US is hosting the tournament.

Thanks Count for this recap. Haven't seen this yet but your resumen indicates it's going to be plenty interesting. Hate the fact that Katia is being set up by a bad guy. Was "patron" meant to be "sponsor" as in AA? Although as I understand it, you are not supposed to have sponsors of the opposite sex in 12-step groups. Can always lead to other problems.

Will look forward to watching this later or over the weekend since there is no show tonight. Clearly men still rule in the Latino TV world if soccer preempts all other shows.

Judy- Yes, it meant sponsor. And Katia didn't actually agree to be his sponsor. She first called him out for flirting, which is a no-no. Then when he asked her to be his sponsor, she didn't say yes, just said she'll see him at the next meeting. But the request lowered her guard a bit.

great count and than you

"Ale is later invited to a first lesson of scammery"

Whatever her reason she chooses not to tell Bruno. Why? If street wise Katia can be set up Alejandra hasn't a chance if she slips.

Let's see. Sara never raises suspicion of cheating in a decade until hot Yago shows up, yet Yago is not a suspect. Sara certainly was the brains of the couple.

Agree Vivi about Sara and Yago and will go one further. Part of the appeal of Yago is his involvement with Ambar. Sara prefers things that are not hers so girls hide your significant other.

I do NOT see Lorenzo being among the living before too long, since he's slowly remembering his father's death.

Abel should be nervous, the way he keeps yelling at the kid tells me this will not end well.

Tofie: Ambar's going to hate both Sara & Yago when the truth is revealed about their escapades.

Vivi: Katia has an alcohol problem ?

Lucio will EXPLODE very soon!

Thanks, Count! Your recap reminded me how much I liked this episode. I may try to watch it again tonight!

For all my remarks about 3xAna being more comedy than drama, Yago has plenty of its own fun. Lucio's cluelessness had me in stitches last night.

Abel is of course lying to Lorenzo, but it's absolutely true that most of what is in our dreams is just garbage floating around in our minds. It's not even a little bit significant that Lorenzo would hear the name "Lucio" in his dream after seeing "Lucio" on the phone. (I once got saw the word "Parsippany" on a shipping label, and it ended up in my dreams that night. No relevance whatsoever.)

I loved that Mati gave Yago the little wooden horse. I think that's the same horse that Omar had left in the house for Sara. Apparently she took it home and gave it to Mati. Now Yago has it. Full circle! I love full circle.

Steve - yes, Katia has an alcohol problem. In an early episode, Abel kinda tricked her into having a vodka tonic, and she had a few more with him - even brought him up to her room. She snapped to attention when she realized that she had incriminating evidence on display in her room that she couldn't afford to let him see, and kicked Abel out before any more damage could be done.

Julie- Thanks for catching that about the horse. Yes, full circle!

I think what Lorenzo was looking up was how to recover repressed memories, not dream interpretation. He wants to recover the rest of his memories from that night, that had been suppressed until now.

Thanks, Count!

Yes, Julie and Vivi, the horse has come full circle. (I even wonder if Omar carved it himself in Jonas' workshop.) I love that kind of attention to detail in the writing. Kind of like scuzzy Damián calling Alejandra 'princesa,' the same endearment that he uses for his own daughters when he is trying to charm and manipulate them.

Since Fidel is uneasy about Katia's loyalty, maybe he'll have her dogged by his newly recruited "army" of thugs (the guys who re-kidnapped Matías) and Camilo's henchman will be spotted. I really don't want anything bad to happen to Katia...

It seems only a matter of time before one of Abel's verbal tics triggers Lorenzo's memory, with or without professional help.

I've been thinking about Lucio's great love for Matías. Maybe it isn't in spite of the boy's parentage, but at least in part, because of it. Lucio is so full of self-loathing that he might very well see all of his own weaknesses in a child swimming in his own gene pool. If he thought Omar were alive, it would be different, of course, but as he sees it, Mati is just another part of the life he stole from the person he envied so obsessively.

Thanks so much for the recap Count. And a belated welcome to Kendra.

So Damien has found Sara's replacement. Oh, the hubris of the young. Ale thinking she can outsmart a seasoned con man. This is not going to end well. Hopefully, it will be Bruno to the rescue (thought I'd prefer she rescue herself).

Nanette

I hope Bruno follows Ale when she goes off mysteriously. He's already suspicious about her behavior, and wanted to know why she had painted her nails red, which is so not her style.

Nanette: I do NOT see Alejandra making it to the Gran Final because of her stubbornness in trying to out-con the Old Pro!

Steve: that is what I'm afraid of, but I hope you're wrong!

Thanks for the recap CountX.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but if I'd used the word "kitty" in my recap, for the next 3 days, I would get hate mail. Please advise how you manage to get away with such language! I think you are awesome, but a girl needs some advice!

Cynderalla- That's because you always recap the tns that have a HUGE following. The more followers, the higher the chance you will offend someone and/or someone will feel the need to complain. We don't have enough recappers or commenters to quibble here on Yago. By the way, we need another recapper...

Thanks, Countx. Fine job.

Nothing new to add, but I do hope very soon Ale tells Bruno what she's up to. No matter how smart she is, she needs a backup.

OT: Probably not news to you all, but just saw an ad on IMDb for a USA Network remake of La Reina del Sur. Might have to check it out. LRDS one of my all time favs.

Nanette- When will it air?

Vivi: series premiere Thursday, June 23.

novelas coming to Telemundo

http://www.telemundo.com/novelas/2016/05/15/12-super-series-y-novelas-nuevas-que-llegan-telemundo-anunciadas-en-upfront-2016

Telemundo treats its viewers better

do you believe El señor will be back for the 5th season? Señora Acero for the 3rd, wonder if Blanca Soto can act yet?

Variopinta- I don't know about that. Telemundo did this same kind of foolishness with Quien es Quien and Esclava Blanca, first saying one thing then doing another, changing schedules and moving a show all of a sudden. They've also taken their scissors to certain shows and started shredding it to pieces to get it done quicker (Reina de Corazones), or chopped out parts of tns to fit in more commercials (Fatmagul) and preempted them for sports.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but I was just reading the "Latin Times" 6/17: as of Monday 6/27 "Yago" is being sent back to its midnight slot on Unimás. It is being replaced by a "bio series" "Por siempre Joan Sebastián." Bummer.

I am thinking of getting rid of Dish and taking on Playstation Vue streaming service. Unfortunately, the streaming service package does not include Univision. I can, however, subscribe to Hulu Plus and get Univision telenovelas (I think).

My question is: does the Hulu Plus version of these shows have English closed captions?

VIvi, at least Telemundo lets you watch their shows for free on their site.

Gobluefan, I watch Gran hotel on Hulu with English subtitles.

Variopinta- I'm guessing that has something to do with NBC Universal's contract with Hulu. No point in using Hulu if you can watch the shows the next day on the network site. Uni does let you watch the show for free on their site a few days later, however. I'm guessing some major breakup of relationship would have to happen between NBC and Hulu before they make any of their content available next day for free viewing on their various network sites.

Vivi.
I have Comcast & Uni won't let me watch for free

Variopinta- You would think with all this advanced technology, they would make it easier for everyone everywhere. Maybe one day! I have Comcast and can access Uni's shows for free online, but only until a few days after they've aired. And, of course, On Demand does make them available the next day.

Gracias, Count. Finally caught up.

Everyone's playing with fire now and I dearly hope that telling Melina the truth wasn't a fatal move. With Lorenzo starting to remember things, Lucio getting suspicious, Alejandra going undercover, Camilo putting a tail on Katia, and the stupidly-named Ambar confronting the selfish Sarah something is going to explode soon.

Is it just me or is Ambar looking less and less like a career woman and more and more like a little girl lately?

And who else is bothered by the gunshot sound at the beginning and end of each segment? The first time it happened I wondered whether someone off-camera was shot and once in this episode I wondered whether something had gone wrong in my computer.

Countx,

thanks for another of your interesting and entertaining recaps. I especially was amused by:

"Ale is later invited to a first lesson of scammery."

I don't envision Katia being fooled and used by Raul. I think that it'll more likely be the reverse which of course will likely result in an unfortunate end for him.

It looked to me that Alejandra was less than enthusiastic as she and Damián toasted her apprenticeship. She made a bit of a sour face and didn't even take a sip of her drink. I would think that an experienced swindler would have noticed that. Maybe he's a bit over-confident.

I'm afraid that Steve is right, sooner or later Abel is going to be faced with the need to knock off poor Lorenzo. Too bad, they're one of the more compatible couples.

UA,

"...stupidly-named Ambar..."

I would have guessed that you would have liked that name. The movie Forever Amber seems to me like one that is right up your alley.

Carlos

Boy am I PO'd
Settled down to watch Gran Hotel, got through 9 episodes & Hulu said my subscription didn't support more, what am I paying $7.99 for?
Anyone have this happen?
Guess I'll try Netflix.

I was able to watch on daily motion, no ads, film quality not so good but its free.

So sorry Variopinta. The same thing happened to me with Hulu. After episode 9 no more Gran Hotel. I was so disappointed.

I think so too UA. Ambar is like a college freshman home on break. She comes off as slightly older sister to Matis, younger sister to Abel and Yago and Sara do not acknowledge she is a woman.

JudyB
Glad you told me that, I thought I was doing sth stupid.

Tofie, I think Yago does but Lucio doesn't. Not that this matters that much.

I do not want to see Yago boink this child-woman. While I find her somewhat annoying she isn't to blame for Sara's illegal activities and it is monumentally wrong for Sara to try to hang that on her. She should take a job out of the country, leave, and grow up.

Ambar does seem very young. Partly it's her appearance but there's also the fact that she seems so pure and unspoiled. She's an international photojournalist, so you'd think she would have seen a few things.

Nothing that Ambar has done or said shows me that she is ignorant of the real suffering in the world (in fact, she's the only one who seems aware that other people in the world, aside from herself, do suffer). She is simply a person who chooses to see the glass as half full. She's not shocked that Abel has a hidden illegitimate son, for example. But she is encouraging Abel to step up and be a good father now to Lorenzo, whom she can tell needs family. She has a pure heart. There is nothing wrong with that. The people around her keep lying to her and keeping her in ignorance-- which has been both a blessing and a curse.

No, I'm not criticizing her. I don't think she seems immature, but she does seem a little naive about the people around her. Or at least she did. Now that she is getting an idea of what her sister is like, that will change. It's harder to understand how she could have been so blind about Sara for this long.

(FWIW, I don't think it's naive or dumb to believe the best about the people who are close to you - as long as they don't show evidence to the contrary.)

And maybe she seems more naive than she is because I'm measuring her against the people around her. That's like comparing a glass-half-full person to a steal-a-bigger-glass person.

Another thing about Ambar. She was astute enough as a young girl to try to stop Sara from marrying Lucio. She knew Sara wasn't in love him and that Lucio had issues. I hope she comes to realize on her own that Yago is not that into her.

Yes, Ambar did see that much!
I wonder if she will figure out that Sara is having an affair. (I'd like to see Sara try to blame Ambar for THAT!)

Thank you for this great recap, Countx! As the plot evolves, I find myself more and more sympathetic to Abel (please don't boo), a character I just couldn't stand at the beginning of the show, yet out of the 3 treacherous "friends" of Omar he's the one who's committed the most crimes (armed robbery + two murders + an unknown number of assaults involving pliers).

Watching Alejandra makes me very nervous and I almost resent her for being so reckless. She should've let somebody know what she is getting into and who she is hanging with. She may not know about the Damián-Camilo connection but she knows that Damián was somehow involved involved in a heist that cost at least two innocent people their lives (the security guard and Omar).

I agree that Ámbar is looking more and more like a teenage girl everyday. Whenever I see her hanging off Yago's neck like a barnacle that just won't let go, I think of a very inappropriately handsy 16-year-old trying to cajole an uncle or a family friend into buying her a new gadget. Her scenes with Yago are very awkward and not just because he doesn't giver her the time of day.
