Tres Veces Ana - #38 - Friends or Enemies?

Marcelo and Ramiro spent today’s episode deciphering the complexities of Marcelo’s memory loss and debating each other’s agenda, again with neither mentioning Evaristo. Ev simply must write a book on manipulating people to his own ends. I really think he’d make a fortune once people discover he is a genius.

So let’s begin! Scenes are rearranged somewhat for coherence.

At Ramiro’s apartment Marcelo is pointing a gun at Ram and screams that he is a murderer, he doesn’t know what to believe any more and doesn’t even want to remember. Ramiro tells him it isn’t so, Marcelo really is a decent man, and Santi should really believe him. But all Santi, with the wild look in his eyes, wants to do is point his gun at Ram.

While this drama is happening, elsewhere Maribel moves out from the room she shared with Javier and at the restaurant Llora continues to have a very nice dinner with Mariano. He again attempts to entice her into studies abroad, but she has no desire to leave Mexico. They talk about Valentin. Did tio not like him? Llora is concerned that Mariano thinks that nobody will love her due to her disability and that upsets her. Mariano babbles that he didn’t want Ana Le to be right about Tin, but he is beginning to think she was. Llora doesn’t understand, but asks him to form his own opinion and not be influenced by Ana Le here. Tin is a great guy and Mariano will see that. We shake our fists at the screen, because it seems that tio should have already formed an opinion based on the fact that Tin deceived him and threatened him with a gun. Some people learn slow though, but thankfully for Mariano we have another season ahead of him to chase down the single common sense brain cell running around in his brain.

Having concluded lunch with the uncle, Llora returns home and plays a poignant melody on the piano. Abue and Ana Le listen in, Abue with tender admiration and Ana Le with jealousy.

Tin made an appearance at the rehabilitation center to discuss his own accident with Valeria. Turns out he fell off the side of the building, due to his employer's negligence, while painting. Isn’t it curious, says Tin, that Jenny also fell off the building. Only he survived and she did not have such luck.

Ana Lu has been practicing all episode. She dances some with Tadeo watching. They later share a very nice moment, where she confides that Santiago was the love of her life and she will always love him and Tadeo comforts her.

At the residence Alvarez del Castillo, Leonor is cleaning up. She finds Ana Le’s passport and is surprised to see it in the dresser. Ana Le shows up at right as Leonor is studying it and is suspicious. She is afraid Leonor saw she traveled to Costa Paraiso on the day of Jenny’s death, but Leonor is oblivious to that. They chit-chat some about triplets and how the three of them used to be so alike, and how Ana Le and Llora changed with time. Having dispensed with these pleasantries, Ana Le runs to her room to try and erase the stamp proving she traveled to Costa Paraiso. Now that’s a novel tactic to cover tracks! Good thing for her that there’s absolutely no electronic record of any trips in our day and age, so no sweat, she got it covered.

Back at Ramiro’s Marcelo wants to know what relationship he had with Jennifer. He explains that he saw her on the day she died, after she had fallen already, and she recognized him as Marcelo, as he held her dying in his arms. Marcelo also wants to know how many people Ramiro has killed. What?? Ramiro doesn’t understand. He’s never killed anybody and the only reason he even had that gun is because someone told him that Marcelo is alive and Ram needed to protect himself against him. They also told him Marcelo killed Gina, his fiancé, who supposedly killed herself, though Ram always suspected foul play. Marcelo remembers his fake arrest, seeing Gina’s photo and being told he killed her. Marcelo asks Ram what he thinks about all of this. Ramiro answers he didn’t believe a single word, not even that Marcelo was alive, until he ran into him earlier in the morning. (Is it really still the same morning we started two episodes ago? Seems like about time to wrap up this conversation….)

They aren’t done quite yet. Does Marcelo know Ana Lu? Why, is Ramiro looking for her? Well, of course he is and he must find her. Well, apparently that seals the deal for Santi/Marcelo. He won’t let Ramiro find or hurt Ana Lu and, over Ramiro’s protests that he would never hurt her, Marcelo is back to pointing a gun. He can’t trust Ramiro. In that case, Ramiro thinks he should just shoot him, but if he ever gets his memory back, he might not be able to live with what he’s done.

Right at that moment Marcelo strangely hears the same melody that Llora is/was playing on piano with Abue and Ana Le listening, in a scene that was running parallel to this one. Ramiro thinks Marcelo is crazy, but this jolts another flashback for him and he remembers listening to Llora play the same melody a day before Ramiro’s wedding. Marcelo advised Ramiro to tell Llora how he feels and revealed he knows from Llora herself that she is in love with Ramiro.

Back in the present Santi/Marcelo shares this memory with Ramiro and ice is starting to melt. Yes-yes, says Ramiro, she does love me, and I love her. They are back to rational conversation and Ramiro takes the gun away and stashes it in the drawer again. (Who else thinks we haven't seen the last of this gun in a drawer?) Ramiro still wants to find Ana Lu and Marcelo should trust him that he won’t hurt her. Marcelo asks for Ramiro's trust as well, as he has his own reasons to hide Ana Lu. Ramiro only wants to know one thing – does Ana Lu love Marcelo? Yes, she does, and he loves her too  - as Santiago. As Marcelo though he is still in love with Ana Le. In short, he loves both of them and is mega-confused. So is Ramiro I think, and so are we.

Elsewhere, Llora has finished playing her sad melody, much to the excitement of Ana Le, who could barely sit still through it. Ana Le is curious how Llora’s lunch with tio went. Oh, it went very well, tio is very attentive and Llora feels warm and fuzzy he thinks of her even in such a difficult time for him. Ana Le is definitely not feeling the fuzzies hearing about this attention bestowed upon her sister. Abue declares they all should go out more and she has an idea. Miranda told her Dance Aire group (Anibal’s group where Ana Lu dances) will give a big performance and donate part of the proceeds to their foundation. They all must go and be present. Llora is excited and wants to take Tin. She suggests Ana Le takes Daniel, but Ana Le is not interested. Well, how about Inaki then? Now that looks like an idea Ana Le will think about.

In other events this episode, at Remedios’s hostel (where by the way we will soon have not only the entirety of San Nicholas, but about 90% of show’s characters) Orlando runs into Sole. He is mad and she is not understanding why. She has never done anything bad to him. (Quiet admiration for both the hypocrisy display and las agallas to say that to his face!) Orlando isn’t shy to list all that she “hasn’t done” – arrange for his beating, which led to his current physical state, and also his new “job” as Evaristo’s boy, which by the way involves protecting Ana Lu and Sole. So really, Orlando’s dream job. Towards the end of this conversation we are starting to think that maybe he should indeed be thanking Sole. Sole though is suspicious and wants to know exactly what Ev told him. Orlando says Ana Lu will not find out the truth from him.

Orlando leaves Sole and goes off to watch Ana Lu, who is still practicing. They chat about being old friends and rekindling their friendship. They both hurt each other and are even now. They get back to the hostel, and have a tender scene and decide to be friends again. Maribel watches and is jealous as usual.

Ana Le, the ardent worker that she is, we find out did not return to work after lunch, as she was entertained by Abue! She offers this explanation of her absence to tio Mariano, as she demands to be taken to dinner, since Llora was taken to lunch. Mariano wonders whether she has her own life and it seems as she does not. He begrudgingly agrees to take her out and she begs a five minute leave, supposedly to go look at her schedule for Monday. She really needs some time to stash her passport in her work desk drawer. (We are making a note of that, as it seems this is definitely coming back to bite her somehow).

In the hallway she runs into Inaki, who invites her to dinner. Oh no, she is busy – another time. Tio overhears and tells them they should go out to dinner and enjoy the night. He is tired. Ana Le looks disappointed, but seems to have forgotten all about it in Inaki’s company at the bar, where she tells him she finds him amusing. She gets a phone call from Daniel (who, in an earlier scene, was told by his mother that Ana Le was at their house looking for him. Daniel blows a gasket and calls his mother stupid for not calling him right away, so clearly a nice boy. The mother – Viridiana’s friend - was sitting around looking at her child(ren)'s old drawings and seems to not have a very happy family life). Inaki asks to answer Ana Le’s phone and she dares him to do it. He does dare and, to Ana Le’s amusement, tells Daniel that Ana Le is his girlfriend and he needs to get back to her and hangs up. He goes further and says he’ll kiss Ana Le as soon as she finishes her drink. He dares that too and we end on their smooch.

Thank you, Ria. The recap was excellent. I totally missed this tonight but thanks to you I am ready to watch the next episode. Isn't this blog the best?

So right about everyone ending up at Remedios' pensión. Too funny!

Ria......big thank you. I havent read it yet but I am sleepy so I will read during my late breakfast. It looks very interesting for certain!

Welcome newer participants. I think we all get excited when someone steps out from lurking to participating. This is a great place, recappers are superb, and everyone who comments is also very witty and observant. Most important, is everyone values and respects each other.

I read Jarifas comment and Yes, it sure looks like Remedio's place is the ONLY pension and there are only 2 taxistas, Santi and his jovial heavyset fellow taxista.
Between the two, they seem to have picked up every character in the story. Lol.

Leticia

I felt heartbroken when Ana Lucia was telling Iñiaki's father how she felt,I felt her pain. Bravo to Angelique, she is really doing a great job. I am glad Santiago remembered a memory with Ramiro in it, at least now he is able to trust him...Ana Leticia and Iñiaki wow! I don't know whether I should root for them or hate them. I really enjoyed this episode, so much better than yesterday's. Looking forward to the next one

Thank you Ria for the recap. I was heartbroken when Ana Lucia was telling Iñiaki's dad about her feelings. That was very sad and I felt her pain. Bravo to Angelique, she is really doing a great job. Also I am really glad that Santiago remembered Ramiro from his memory. Now he can be able to trust him...Ana Leticia and Iñiaki, wow! I don't know whether I should root for them or dislike them. Looking forward to the next episode

"Premios Juventud"will preempt "Tres veces Ana" and the other Univisión novelas tonight.,

Gracias, Ria; good work.

While it isn't realistic it was a good thing that SantMarc remembered that Ramiro and he are friends. Something had to stop that Mexican Standoff. However, he won't make real progress until he remembers that AnaMeMeMe is the narcissist she is and until either of the guys mentions Evaristo's name. Both should realize that he is playing both of them and then ask themselves what his motive is.

I think AnaMeMeMe took her passport to the office to minimize her risk of discovery in case she travels to kill again.

How many versions of that particular piece of RameraWear does she have? Enquiring minds and all....

Ana Llorona needs to learn some Beethoven. Her music selections only continue to reinforce her depression and lack of self-worth. The noble and assertive sounds of my main classical man would do wonders for her.

How much you want to bet me that something will prevent the family attending the Danse Aire show and the reunion with Ana Lucia will be delayed again?

Hate that there are no novelas tonight but it will give me a chance to catch up with Yago.

Thanks Ria!!

Inaki just signed a pact with the devil. How soon will it before he will be taking orders from her, just like Daniel? The guy is way in over his head.

Why would Ev put Orlando at the pension when he knows he will be in contact with Sole and AnaLucia? I guess after beating him to a pulp Ev isn't worried about his loyalties.

The best scenes were the ones between Ram and Santi but I can't believe neither outed Ev. His wheel of manipulation continues.

I don't think the reunion will happen until the end of season one but who knows.

This show moves at a snail's pace but it has picked up a little. Urban, Yago is moving quick.

Thanks, Ria.

Maybe the family will go to the dance show, but AnaLu for some reason won't perform. If she is in fact pregnant, this would be a good time for her to faint.

Thanks Ria. You described the dynamics in a nutshell:

"Abue and Ana Le listen in, Abue with tender admiration and Ana Le with jealousy."

I'm beginning to feel sorry for our little murderess--nothing can assuage that ravenous ego and empty soul for more than a minute. Then she is gnashing her teeth over the next perceived emotional dismissal.

Did enjoy her teasing/smooching scene with Iñaki. Those two are "tal para cual"...well, I exaggerate. He's a schemer and a small-time swindler, but as far as I know, not capable of homicide. Let's hope not anyway!

I'm with everybody else assuming that something will interfere with Ana Lucia's Danzaire performance. But continue to admire Angelique's gymnastic skills. She is one multi-talented lady.

As are you. Thanks for all your recaps.

Great Ria! Thanks so much.

Julie-- you slay me with the "now would be a good time for her to faint." Yep, where's the old TN cliche when you need it.

I have been confused this whole time about Inaki anyway because he was sort of advertised as a bad guy in some of the pre-articles I read. I haven't seen him that way, just sort of snook and sponger. But under the master manipulator, if she can get him to really fall for her, maybe she can use him to "silence" the old former hubby. Poor idiot.

And I agree, UA, I'm starting to cringe when Llora sits down to the piano too. She supposed to be so good to study overseas, play something LIVELY. These dirges are getting to be a little much. (And really not that difficult. If they want Bowyer to play herself, well then maybe they are keeping the works simpler, but I could go for a piped in waltz or concerto for once.)

I was thinking the same thing about Llora's piano selections. Normally, it's considered good to play with emotion - but what if your only emotion is melancholy?

Ria, I always admired the way you write and bring up aspects I didn't think about. Especially the clapback: Orlando isn't shy to list all that she "hasn't done" & the migration influx of San Nicholas and show cast. Glad there's now 1 person there who distrusts her. Woe-ledad gets no sympathy from me.

@Leticia Thanks for the warm welcome. Yes, everyone here is very witty & introspective, love the differing perspectives! Btw you and I have the name of a certain villana that when combined would probably make the ultimate evil transformer! But let's coalesce for the greater good instead :P

@Carvivlie Lol @ signing pact with the devil. I actually think Inaki is the one person who could handle Ana Lucifer. He's just as conniving, manipulative, and if we remember his interactions with his family, he's got no scruples either. I think he's finally met his match in her, and she in him. Daniel wasn't really up to par for her scheming ways. Inaki seems just as duplicitous as she is.

@Julie From what I could see in last night's preview, she's performing while wearing a mask & they very likely won't recognize her. However, based on the pattern these writers' have put out, I predict a near-miss scene where they wish to go backstage & congratulate the dancers as Ana Lucky leaves out the back door. It may even be Orblando who sees la familia & convinces her to escort him home.

@JudyB YES! I totally agree, totally "tal para cual". Definitely will become like 2 peas in a fraud.

Speaking of which, the way Leonora was mentioning that she thought the passport was Llora's made me think Ana Locura would probably switch their photos & frame her sister somehow. Was disappointed she simply hid it in a desk. Teresa would've had better foresight. Also, don't know why Mariano is afraid to mention the gun-point incident. Did he think it was just a water pistol? Or that she won't believe him? Does he believe Villantin when he says he's just trying to move on? Does he feel guilty about "ruining his life" & afraid to interfere a 2nd time? Or was he just caught off guard when Llora called him out? I still can't say. Hoping he's just biding his time until he finds a better plan. Otherwise, he's a passive idiot with these girls.

@Daisy Sad music is usually meant to be cathartic. Those who play or listen to it find it helps them feel less sad about their own lives. It's the same thing with watching scary movies, it makes reality a little less scary. So I can forgive Llora, especially b/c piano time usually means scrolling pinterest time :D

Anna, with all of the sad music ALlora is playing she should be the happiest person in the world! lol

@Carvivlie, You would think! Maybe somebody should give the writers a heads up haha

I want to know what the makeup people did to Sebastian Rulli's eyes. They look all bloodshot and evil.

Could he have been crying or possibly suffering from pink eye? I had that a few weeks ago and it was even scarier than usual to look in the mirror and see alien eyes staring back (My eyes are also blue, though not the same shade as his).

You make a good point UA. That could be a possibility.

Thanks, all! I finally got back to the computer, so though premios Juventud are usurping our telenovela night, time to catch up is nice indeed!

Jarifa, totally agree this blog is awesome :)

Leticia - yes, indeed we've only seen two taxistas as well. Too funny! And these two of course always take the weary strangers to Rem's only hotel in town.

Anon 6:37 - it was a very nice moment between Ana Lu and Tadeo, very father and daughter like. I like Tadeo, he is not getting much love from his favorite Inaki though.

Urban - lol @ inquiring minds! And yes, I too think that something will happen, or perhaps Ana Lu will wear a giant mask covering her face and we will not get a tearful reunion, however we almost certainly have a quality near-miss scene to look forward to.

Carvivlie - I am with you wondering on why Ev trusts Orlando so. Orlando, though, was shaking and trembling for so many episodes now, perhaps he is now a very faithful watchdog for Ev.

Julie - oh, nice twist! Ana Lu being unable to perform is definitely a possibility.

JudyB, you are so right about beginning to feel sorry for Ana Le. She doesn't have a moment of peace and is bent out of shape the moment someone else is a center of attention. I wonder about her and Inaki and am afraid she will not be a good influence. Angelique really is fantastic in all these acrobatic scenes, a pleasure to watch!

daisynjay - you made me laugh with the comment of lowered expectations on melody complexity, but just so we can hear something more jovial. So true!

Anna N - seems like you and I are thinking the same thing on the mask and a near-miss with the performance. I too think that's most likely, though very predictable and against all odds, I am hoping writers will come up with something more creative. Loving all the varying nicks you are coming up with btw.

TF - Rulli did look very ominous on those scenes indeed! Maybe pink eye is indeed the culprit as Urban suggests

Does anyone know name of the song in dancing dream sequence by AnaLu? Thanks

I wanted to thank you for taking the time to recap this show for us. I watch this show on a platform that has no English subtitles, which is fine since I'm teaching myself Spanish, so I always read the recaps after to make sure I didn't miss anything.

I'm excited to see what will happen at the Dance Aire- am I naive enough to think that AnaLu might finally be reunited with her family?

Hi Cassie and welcome! Please join in the discussion, if you'll feel like it. It's a very fun and friendly group on here.

So I'll confess I missed the episode yesterday and need to catch up, and haven't seen what happened with the would-be reunion. I think it would be fantastic if we finally got a reunion of at least one of the family members with Ana Lu. Maybe it's the skeptic in me based on the amount of near misses we've been treated to so far, that makes me think we are in for another one. But! I hope you and I both are pleasantly surprised!!

Anon 4:38 - I believe it is called "Vuela", but I am not sure if the soundtrack is available yet.

Thanks Ria for "Vuela" instrumental. Do You also know name of the song? Begins something like "Caminando voy con mi dolor..." Sorry for my bad english.

No worries and your English is great. Which character is the song associated with that you are asking about?

Ria,
It is episode 37- ballet-dancing dream sequence by Ana Lucia(and Santiago). Later, she said something like "dreaming doesn't cost anything".
Thanks

Oh I was wondering about that one too. I don't know what it is, maybe it wasn't released yet? Wasn't able to find it on google either...

Thanks Ria,
Recaps and comments of this tn are even better than tn itself.

For now, I prefer Lo Que La Vida Me Robo. But that particular ballet-dancing dream sequence between 2 main characters in 3VA, along with beautiful music, was tearful and romantic.

Anna, I love that "Ana Lucifer" fits her perfecto.
She will go absolutely ballistic when family find Ana Lucia. Remember that very worried panicy jealous looking face just cause Abue was enjoying Ana Lora's piano playing?

When they finally meet Ana Lucia, everyone will love Ana Lu so much porque es un "Sol." I am almost certain A-lucifer will try to anniliate her long lost triplet.
I get a kick out of A-lucifer's cruel put downs for Inaki, their little game is building up. Daniel is a jerk to his mom. Her husband is probably w some Brazilian beauty. No wonder she is always at Vidriana's shop. If Sole ever takes her daughter, she will recognize her in a heart beat.

Great comments from everbody, sure is great.

Leticia

Yes Angelique is wonderful actress and so beautiful. I would love to see her on the big screen, I think she would be awesome Bond girl.

Leticia

Yes, Daniel was a jerk to his mom but what bothered me more is that she took it from him.

Alas, she is that defeated "abnegada madre" that we see so often in these stories. Hoping that the plot involves something that give her her self-esteem and mojo back.

Was there no episode on Friday night? (I know there was none on Thursday.)

Yes there was an episode Friday.

Julie, I had the next episode waiting for me on dvr so I had a Friday show. I'm hoping someone puts up a discussion page before tonight's episode.

Yes, there was a show on Friday.

Trying to reach Jardinera today to see if she is tied up, otherwise I'll put up a summary pafe before recapping today

Thanks, Ria.
