Tres Veces Ana - # 64 and 65 - Triple hysteria and impactful reunions

(Some scenes below are consolidated)

Rehash of Rem finding out about Santi and Ana Le’s monologue to her bed-bound husband on not expecting anything less of him than to murder Daniel. She cheated, that is true, but he was neglecting her, working late, she just wanted attention. And Marcelo cheated himself. Ana Le loves him and will not divorce him. She also apparently generously forgives him and asks for the same in return.

New episode:
Abue for some reason feels the need to explain herself to Facundo, as she feels guilty for not finding him earlier. She promises she tried, but his nephew didn’t know anything either (Abue, you tried once two days ago. That hardly even qualifies to be an attempt.) She does tell him about Jenny and Facundo is very surprised. He offers condolences to Mariano, who has his “Ana Le has already shown me the light and I hate Jenny now” face on and so he changes the subject. Abue departs and Mariano wants to make it clear to Facundo that Marcelo is not on the list of his favorite people right now. He, Mariano, needs to defend his niece. Facundo, though, says Marcelo will need all their help as well. Mariano is skeptical.

La familia de pension all worry together about locating Santiago in the hospital and how to go about it. They interrupt each other with ideas, until Tadeo decides he’ll go check in with Inaki and if not, he’ll find another way to find out. With that, everyone is calmer and Tadeo is off on his mission.

Orlando is sitting on his bed, no doubt pondering the seventh circle of hell when Maribel comes in all bothered by these annoying worried people in the living room. Would they just worry and grieve quietly. Orlando calls her a hypocrite and rejoices that at least he isn’t one – he just wants Santi to die, plain and simple. (So very few things went right for Orlando recently, or at all in this series – mostly due to his own fault – but if this realization makes him feel better, we are happy for our resident non-hypocritical whipping boy as well.)

Ana Le continues with her monologue. This time she is on the topic of mistakes and errors – they both made some, many downright unforgivable, but that’s what is distinguishing them from the others – they love each other just the way the other person is.

Inaki’s friend shows up with Ana Le’s Costa Paraiso travel data. Looking around and realizing Inaki came into some money, the friend demands more than they agreed on. Inaki finally concedes and goods are exchanged. Inaki is very happy with what’s in that folder. (Which begs a question – how does he know what time exactly Jenny died to trace that back to Ana Le’s tickets? Or did he bribe a cop as well?)

Ramiro comes over to see Santicelo. Facundo meets him in the room and tell him Marcelo is better. Facundo is happy with his decision to call Ana Le, but Ramiro disagrees. They argue extensively over Remedios. Apparently Remedios is the most despicable person Facundo has ever known. (And wow, he must have led a very sheltered life). Ramiro disagrees on all accounts, but Facundo is not to be interrupted. While he is at it, Sole gets hers as well, as the woman who hid Ana Lu from her real family for years. Ramiro thinks Facundo sees world as black and white, but Facundo wants Ramiro to decide – is he with him and his son, or against them. Ramiro dodges the answer and is still trying to talk some sense into this bull-headed hermit, who now thinks that Santi loving Ana Lu and asking Ana Le for divorce simply must be Rem’s idea. Ana Lu better not show up here, declares Facundo, - he does not want to hurt Ana Le. Though, on a second thought, if she wants to show up here as a mistress, why does he care. Ramiro can decide if he wants her hurt that way, though none of these pension people please or else.

Inaki is receiving a surprise guest – his father. Tadeo sees the expensive furniture and forgets all about the reasin for his visit. He just wants to know where Inaki got the money and if he isn’t in some kind of problems. Inaki cries and tells all about the long-lost and reappeared mother, who needed a piece of liver for her son, and Inaki got her to pay for it. And son dies anyway, and she told him all those horrible things. Tadeo consoles him.

Ramiro sneaks out, looks around and calls Ana Lu. While he is busy answering her questions and passing on the info that the wife is here, and Ana Lu is not to come, the said wife appears from behind, grabs the phone and screams into it for Ana Lu to leave Marcelo alone, and calls her an unhappy cat. Who would have known it’s a terrible insult in Spanish :)

Ramiro is not happy about the phone grabbing, but Ana Le certainly doesn’t feel bad. Ramiro better make sure this mistress doesn’t show up at the hospital. Marcelo is her husband and she alone will decide when to give him divorce.

Ana Lu is describing the phone fight to the other pension inhabitants and she is having trouble grasping the context of her newly found societal standing as a married man’s mistress. What is her problem, wants to know Ana Lu – how dare she talk to her like that. Umm, honey….

Over at the viewing, Julietta is still waiting for her husband, whose horse probably needed a new shoe from this harrowing long journey. Julietta is mad though and will not forgive him. She is not alone though and Viridiana and her niece, Ana Le’s friend, are with her. Viridiana is surprised none of the Alvarez del Castillo made an appearance. Who does make an appearance though, is Tadeo! Julietta drags him away into the room, explaining to Viridiana that he is her gardener.

Tadeo, it turns out, came to find out if it is his son lying in the coffin. Just as he is asking that question, the traveling husband finally enters, no doubt all dusty from the road. He is confused and wants an explanation –what is this man talking about? The three trade a couple of half-truths, and Tadeo decides he doesn’t owe an explanation to Sandro (the husband) and leaves. Julietta tells the story of Tadeo being an old boyfriend, way before Sandro. It is still not too late for a DNA analysis, if Sandro wants. Before he can decide though, she smartly changes subject to his absence during his son’s last hours. Sandro says that he, apparently, could not even imagine that Daniel would die of something like a liver failure. (Methinks Julietta has just been caught red-handed, so though justified, she can’t be too mad now.)

Llora comes over to Ramiro and wants to know what he and Ana Le talked about just now – looked like they were fighting. He doesn’t want to tell and they argue. Llora goes to get some tea and the whole family is upset Ramiro let her go to the cafeteria all by herself to get tea, and darn it, they are right – in any sane person’s book that would be equivalent to grand larceny or even a capital murder! To the gallows with the traitor!

Ana Le informs everyone she will be spending the night at the hospital and Ana Lu, in the meantime, impotently cries at the pension.

Remedios and Sole huddle. Sole frets that Santi is with Ana Lu’s sister – so close! Rem is upset about the whole situation and not being able to see Santi. Rem thinks it’s time to bring in the big guns – Evaristo. This Facundo is not letting her see her Santi and they have to stick together and protect their children at all cost. Sole is all over that suggestion.

Speaking of devil himself, Ev is at the hospital to talk to Ana Le. She wants him to return the money she paid him, as she found Marcelo first. Ev views his position differently – she pays him for guarding her against future problems, which – by the by – Marcelo is not. Ev assures Ana Le, who could not be happier to hear this – that Marcelo poses no danger and is not planning any vengeance. He doesn’t know anything about the ordered hit, and the only person who could tell him, is now dead. And Le wants to know if Ev did this. He did not, but someone else did – he says – and pointedly looks toward Marcelo. Ana Le is not too shocked.

Later that night Santi is remembering happy times with Ana Le. He wakes from his dream and on the couch nearby, Ana Le wakes up from the night’s rest with all of her make up intact. She starts again with her declarations of love and reclamations of lack of care for not telling her that he was alive. It doesn’t matter now, says Santi – what is done is done and he needs a divorce. Ana Le does not want that, she forgives him. That changes nothing for Santi – he forgives her as well, but wants his freedom.

Ana Le adopts a midcourse correction – he owes her a chance. She asks for time to correct her mistakes and she is begging him to return to her. If that doesn’t work, she will give him a divorce. She wants an answer right away, but Santicelo needs to think.

While he is thinking, Ana Le wants a little sugar and comes over to kiss him. This is witnessed by Inaki who has just arrived. Ana Le whispers to Santi that he is the only man for her and only with his kisses she can forget…and almost says Mariano. She corrects herself and begs him not to leave her. Unable to watch any longer, Inaki makes his presence known and Santicelo recognizes him. Ana Le realizes the two know each other. They met through Ramiro says Santicelo, Inaki lives in the same building as they once did.

Meanwhile, we get to see a new place in the capital – the whole pension is going to church. And Javier and Maribel, two detectives, come to the real estate agency to see Inaki and Adriana spills the beans that Inaki has just left to go to a hospital. Well, that’s all they needed to know and Javier asks for the name of the hospital and calls Rem immediately.  The latter in return calls the only other cab driver in the city to ask for a lift to the hospital. Ana Lu is excited to go with Rem, but Sole prohibits it, as she doesn’t want Ana Lut to  be a mistress next to the actual wife (supposedly, in actuality she is just working hard to keep her cracked glass from shattering).

Cue in a very long and arduous scene, where Ana Lu gets into a fit of hysteria and shouts and screams that Santi loves her, not his wife, she wants to go, Sole has no right to stop her. (Meanwhile Sole is holding her by the elbow, clearly the ties that bind literally.) Ana Le finishes with a very dramatic she is better than Sole speech, Sole is afraid of everything and if Sole valued herself any, Ana Lu’s father would have stayed. (Wow, a week of fantastic children). She finally frees her elbow and runs behind Remedios, who is getting in the car with Curbas. As Ana Lu clears the gate, Orlando catches up to her, grabs her and under her constant kicking and screaming, and screeching, drags her into the room, where Soledad locks both herself and Ana Lu in. Screaming and screeching continues from this room as well. (I am sad to say this, but Ana Lu might have won the most annoying character award this episode, outperforming Llora by miles.)

Just as we started to wonder how come the other triplets do not spontaneously erupt in hysterical screaming, both Ana Le and Llora feel off and need to step out – from the room in Ana Le’s case and from the car in Llora’s.

Ana Le leaves Santi and Inaki to catch up. They talk about Ana Le and the love for both woman Santicelo feels with such urgency and passion. (Did anyone else notice Inaki/actor was wearing a wedding band in this shot?). Inaki then lends Santi his phone to call pension, with the prior advice that it is probably not a good idea for Ana Lu to come over. Santi calls the pension and Nerina answers. Rem isn’t there, so Santi asks to talk to Ana Lu. While Nerina goes to fetch her, ever lurking in the shadows Orlando, picks up the phone, tells Santi that Ana Lu knows all about his wife being at the hospital, and doesn’t want to talk to him. Nerina does not meet with much success either – Sole says Ana Lu is not available.

Remedios shows up at the hospital and runs into Facundo. They converse at length on the potential of her entrance to see Santiago, while Facundo insults and tries to bribe her. He doesn’t understand how she could possibly be worried and finally calls security and has her removed.

Abue in the meantime shows the bracelet to Mariano and tells him about the private investigator she hired. Mariano is surprised to see the bracelet. Abue apparently is entertaining grand plans of putting Ana Lucia in front of her sisters, and until that moment everybody – hush!

Busy Abue then goes to the hospital to chat with Llora. Llora is upset at Ramiro for keeping the Marcelo secret. Abue thinks it’s not as black and white and he was keeping his word he gave to his friend. Llora, though, expects loyalty apparently and she has not received that in this case. (We loudly laugh, as she is certainly the one to talk about loyalty.) Llora wants to know if Abue ever hid anything from her husband. Just as she is getting ready to confess something, in walks in Rodrigo with Facundo. Abue is surprised and agrees to coffee with Rodrigo, so nobody suspects anything. They argue over coffee on their past history and it all ends with Abue declaring that she doesn’t want to speak with Rodrigo and storming off.

Let’s get back to Ana Le, who went out for some fresh air, leaving Marcelo and Inaki to chat. She runs into Ramiro outside and has a chat with him. She is upset that he hid the information about Marcelo and warns him to help her stay together with Marcelo. If Marcelo leaves her, Llora will pay for it, and Ana Le will make sure Llora would leave Ramiro (sadly, we believe that she will accomplish that with no issues). Omnipotent Ana Le concludes that Ramiro’s happiness is now tied to her own. They are heading back in, and Ramiro says he needs to talk with Marcelo, so he goes ahead. Ana Le is stopped by Inaki in his brand new convertible.

Santi is having a busy day as well. This time Mariano shows up with a cryptic comment that he isn’t planning to go to jail. If he, Mariano, falls, then Marcelo will fall with him. Santi says he doesn’t know what this is about and Mariano takes it as a good sign, since they agreed to never repeat what happened. Ramiro walks in as Mariano departs and Santi and Ramiro discuss this. They determine Mariano has much to hide and Ramiro is sure it is something related to Gina’s death. Santi motivates Ramiro to continue investigating. He, Marcelo, needs that truth as well to keep his previous personality in check.

Mariano walks out of the room and remembers a moment with Gina, where he was asking her to leave Ramiro, as he felt bad about their affair or about sharing with Ramiro – couldn’t tell which.

Inaki is still trying to get Ana Le to go for a ride with him. She isn’t biting until he mentions knowing the reasons, for which Marcelo stayed away for three years. He finally tells her it is because he lost his memory and Santiago Garcia and Marcelo Salvaterra are the same person. Ana Le is stunned and we wish we could stun Inaki with something heavy for spilling the beans. Tune in tomorrow to see what Ana Le comes up with next.

Thanks so much, Ria! Excellent recap.

There were so many people I wanted to kick in the shins this episode, but the hysterical triplets were at the bottom of the list. At the top were Facundo, Soledad, Orlando, Mariano and Inaki.

I thought the scene between Inaki and his dad was well done, and gave Pedro Moreno a chance to flex his dramatic acting muscles a bit. Yes, Pedro always has his wedding band on, since the beginning of the tn. Perhaps it's a superstition thing, or he swore to his real life spouse to never take it off, and he's sticking to that. Who knows. I've noticed it for a long time though.

Remedios is starting to get on my nerves now. She is turning into Soledad. I know she took care of San/Marc for three years, but Facundo has been with his son (his blood) for 30. So who is Remedios to want to come and change Marcelo into another person. He needs to remember who he is/was, and in order to do that, its better for him not to go back to that pension

Great work, Ria.

Facundo is such a snob and an ingrate. Remedios has every right to be worried about SantMarc and to see him unless he is unwilling to see her. He can't force SantMarc to return to Ana Loon (whom I suspect he doesn't yet realize is a dangerous sociopath). He has no more right to decide his son's future than Soledad has to decide Ana Lucia's. This has become monumentally abusive.

And Orlando tops it off with manhandling Ana Lucia more than once. Does anyone else see a rape scene in his future?

Although we know it won't play this way I'm actually coming to the opinion that it would be better for everyone if Ana Lucia and SantMarc just went away and never looked back. Once she knows how seriously sick her family of origin is she should want to be as far away from them as possible.

Ria, the recap was outstanding. Thank you!

Another fun episode. Time for Ana Lucía to go on her own after the little fiasco with being kept prisoner at the pensión. Soledad crossed the line in dealing with her with slimy Orlando as her enforcer. Not even Evaristo can stop the momentum. How long until Ana Lucįa runs into one of her sisters? Can't be long. I am curious to see what kind of business. Marcelo and dear tío Mariano were in together that has Mariano threatening Marcelo. Facundo is one nasty guy.

Is it one more week of double episodes after this until " Narcos" starts? These double episodes are wearing me out and I am not even recapping them. A big thanks to all of the recappers for spending extra time and effort in keeping this going!

Urban- After watching last night, it was Ramiro I was urging in my head to run away and never look back. Between Facundo, Llora, Leticia, and their family, he was fighting a losing battle against the crazies. And for what? The prize for him is Ana Llora, but she is showing herself to be no prize. Even SantMarc is starting to weaken in Leticia's presence, even after all Ramiro has told him about her. I need him to start using that record function on his cell phone next time he has a one on one conversation with Leticia.

And how does Inaki think that Leticia knowing that SantMarc has amnesia will help him (Inaki) win her? If anything, this will make her pursue SantMarc even more, knowing that he can't remember the bad times. She can now make up whatever she wants to guilt him into coming back to her.

Ria- Just went back to look at old vids of Pedro (Inaki) in Una Familia con Suerte, and he is indeed wearing his wedding band there too. Looks like he just never takes it off: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mFzxdGgWek

Thank you for the recap Ria.

That scene where Orlando was trying to restrain Ana Lucia, reminded me of a mental asylum. I really don't like how this girl is being treated. Soledad deserves more than just going to jail.

I know that Ana Leticia is evil and doesn't deserve Marcelo, but I have to admit that their relationship has more spark than that of Santiago and Ana Lucia.

Thanks Ria! I fell asleep during this, which really pissed me off because I had intended to watch the Olympics if I got bored. If I had known that all the talking would put me to sleep, I would have changed the channel.

"And wow, he must have led a very sheltered life." Yeah, well, that's why he was living like a hermit. Apparently he can't cope in a world where everything isn't as black-and-white as he would like.

Facundo is also a very confused man if he thinks that his son, who was once practically a superhero the way Facundo describes him, could now so easily fall under the witchcrafty power of evil Remedios.

I'm glad that Sandro got a piece of Julieta's wrath for taking his sweet time coming home, but the rest of her behavior last night did not elevate my opinion of her. I have to wonder why they bothered to create such a loathsome side-character.

Kudos to Ana Llora for going to the cafeteria all by herself. Such bravery! LOL. With a family like that, it's not hard to understand why Llora is the way she is.

Orlando is sitting on his bed, no doubt pondering the seventh circle of hell

You always come up with such great quips, Ria.

I'm like Jarifa..."worn out" by these double episodes and give up watching about a third of the way through. You all deserve special accolades for not only watching the whole shebang but writing it up with such wit and verve as well.

Thanks a million. Is there anyone in this who isn't annoying the hell out of us at the moment. I even find the humble, devoted Lorena irritating. A pox on all of 'em!

I counted 7 paragraphs of show that I missed before the electric came back, so thank you Ria for another quality recap!

Not done reading yet, but stopped at a particular part of your recap & this needed to be said. Warning: Anna Banana is going to bare her soul....

I did not find AnaLu's outburst annoying at all. I found it heartbreaking. As someone who's been personally through this, I can say it's the most appropriate reaction. I, also, lived under a tyrant that didn't allow me to go anywhere. I wasn't allowed to see school friends, not even my cousins (it was considered inappropriate that us girls should visit our girl relatives if they had brothers, yes even if they were only 10. It's beyond perversion to even think that incest could be possible, but there it was). So yes, her response triggered a lot of old memories for me, not being able to have your freedom & being under the control of a fear-mongering megalomaniac who's constant turmoil diminished your spirit--yet also ignited vocal dissent. And this was for everyday things. I can only imagine how much patience she had before a tragic accident of a loved one finally triggered her to respond in such anguish. Llora's anguish is mostly unfounded, I can't relate to victims but I absolutely relate to people who fight spiritedly for their right to free will. I give Boyer credit for being able to tap into this character's pain. She did a beautiful job. Inaki was the other cry I had over a character. These actors are really poking me at my edges. Ay dos mio, lol

Anna- I agree about Ana Lucia. I really felt her completely justified frustration, anger, and anxiety last night. It's no wonder her sisters also felt it. I was enraged for her that Soledad even allowed Orlando to manhandle her that way. What the hell kind of mother does that, I'd be thinking if I were Ana Lucia. Even if I were having a big blow out argument with one of my parents, and one of them for whatever reason chose to lay their hands on me, they sure as hell wouldn't allow anyone else to lay their hands on me! That person would be looking for a fight.

Thanks for sharing that, Anna. I didn't see AnaLu's hissy fit, so I can't swear that I wouldn't have been annoyed by it - but it seemed like a reasonable reaction when I read about it. That is, a reasonable reaction compounded by months' worth of frustration over Soledad's chronic controlling behavior.

Originally I had thought AnaLu would be very open and forgiving with Soledad when she found out the truth. But now that Soledad has gone to such lengths to keep her secret, I wonder. And I haven't forgotten about the time she locked AnaLu in the pantry, ages ago, to hide her during Ramiro's first visit. I think AnaLu will eventually remember that too.

Ria Awesome job, here are my favorites:

his “Ana Le has already shown me the light and I hate Jenny now” face on

we are happy for our resident non-hypocritical whipping boy as well

an unhappy cat. Who would have known it’s a terrible insult in Spanish (Haha, I was surprised too!

Did anyone else notice Inaki/actor was wearing a wedding band in this shot? No, I'm usually distracted by his...er, other things, but good eye!

______________________________________________________________________

Vivi Agree, all the same people for me. I wanted to can-can dance into each one of them!

Anon6:45 Completely disagree. It's not the quantity of time or la sangre that makes family. Marcelo became a better person b/c of Rem & she's afraid Funky will poison him or revert him back into the man he formerly was (Remember, this is from the perspective they currently have that Marc wasn't a good person). Blood relations aside, looking at the sordid character of Funky, and the nurturing character of Rem, I'd choose Rem for a parent any day of the week.

Urban A rape scene, gasp, I sure hope not. Agree w/ everything you've said. These are horrible ppl & I'm just glad I stuck this TN out b/c it's good tv nonetheless. I also want them to leave together, but not before she tells the whole family off (including Soulless) & him giving Funky a piece of his mind (but giving Rem a way to reach them for future visits to see the grandbabies).

Jarifa Exactly, there comes a point where a girl just needs to forget her obligation to her loved ones & put herself 1st. AnaLu should kidnap Santi & head for the hills!

Julie I'm going to defend Funky this one time & say, he thinks Rem took advantage of his memory loss in order to gain the son she never had. But we know, clearly he's got a screw loose.

JudyB I'm worn out, with popcorn out! It's tiring, yet thrilling! :D

Vivi YES! No me toques jamas! Couldn't believe Soulless could be...well, soulless! And I'm glad you mentioned that b/c if you remember AnaLu asked that very thing when she got slapped by Sole. What kind of mother does that? Clearly, not a real mother in blood or love.

Julie Yea I also felt like she might forgive her, but I can already see the resentment building up to the point of no return. Sole isn't necessarily evil, but she's a controlling selfish & lonely woman. I can't wait for her anvil, b/c she's got a lot to learn about being a parent. Can we say that Sofia may have dodged a bullet, here?

Oh & Orblando too, I invoke an anvil the size of Antartica w/ his name on it

Thanks, RIa, for another great recap.

I was mesmerized by the scenes of Ana LEt-me-kiss-you smarming all over the patient in his hospital bed. Kiss of THe SPider WOman. With her hair slicked back in that black sheath and wearing the glossy red lipstick, LEtme looked like a backup singer for Robert PAlmer , so "Addicted to Love" was playing in my head. PObrecito SAnticelo could not get much rest with all those visitors.

Soledad is crazy, and Orlando is creepy. Run away ANalu.

Thank you Ria for a wonderful recap. Right now, I just want to get rid of Orlando, he's such a thug. I can't stand him. Soledad really overstepped her boundaries by making Ana Lu prisoner because Ana Lu is way too old for that (a little kid yes, a grown woman, no). As her "mother" she can explain what will happen and but it's just crazy to stop her. The crazy thing is that Soledad is only doing this to protect herself; it's for "Soledad's good" not for Ana Lu's good as she claims.

I am wondering what Inaki's angle is right now. He's quite an interesting character.

I hadn't caught the "unhappy cat" comment from Ana Le. I think cat is a euphemism for whore. Where is Nandicta? She always has her vocab lessons. She would know.

Facundo made me angry with his high and mighty ways when he spoke to Remedios. She may not be from the "upper crust" society in Mexico, but she isn't a peasant either! She looks like she has done pretty darn well for herself.

Ria- "gata infeliz" is more equivalent to calling someone a "poor wretched whore", than "unhappy cat." Gata is often used by people of the upper classes to describe a poor woman and to slander her character. Infeliz is often used as an insult all by itself and is more akin to calling someone a poor wretch, not meant as unhappy.

I have to say, I love your restraint TRia in this great recap. I would have been railing over the mind-numbing actions of last night. Thanks for being the calm on the patio.

I got home late yesterday and couldn't comment, but did want to add that Julietta's put-down of Inaki was horrendous and probably will further play into his feelings of being not good enough, and showing everyone up. Which includes winning the bombshell brawd men salivate over. She was a real piece last night too.

As for last night, again great scenes with Inaki--who right now to me is one of our most interesting and complex characters. Will he sell Santi down the river? Or is he going to try and win AnaLoon, but then take her for the ultimate ride as he reveals what she is and did. I would like to think we may see the latter part, though knowing these writers, who do love their clichés, they'll make him go villain.

I have come to the conclusion that there is a hereditary link in the family that causes short term memory loss, high expectations of behavior they themselves exhibit and a heightened sense of what I would call "gullibleness". I know, not a real word, but you get my drift. Right now, Llora, Abue and Mariano are all showing severe symptoms and each need a good slap up the head.

If I was AnaLu, I would pack my bags and get out of any reach of that "mother" of hers. Good lord, Soledad is one sick puppy. I had visions of Rapunzel and Soledad doing a great wicked witch imitation. Yes, lots of screeching on AnaLu's part, but that had to be stunning to her to be treated that way.

And I'm sorry, I understand Rem feels close to Santi, and yes, Facundo is a snob. But I'm growing increasingly uncomfortable with her association with Sole and echoing those same feelings over a young man she has only known for 3 years. Yes, she feels close to him and helped him heal, but those feelings are almost becoming obsessive. Hard to watch her now and I use to like her.

Too much AnaLoon last night smarming over Santi---they do have a tendency to drag out some of theses scenes with all three women. I'm with you UA, Santi and AnaLu should just run off and let some lawyer someplace do everything long distance.

I'm getting worried where the blazes we are going with all this and so many more episodes yet.

Thanks Vivi for that explanation. Not being bilingual puts me at a disadvantage, so I enjoy those who know the different sayings in Spanish well to explain them to me.

I know this is just a story, but I get frustrated with Llora's self-pity. I had polio when I was a child. I left my left leg smaller and weaker. I spent my life proving to myself -and everyone else- that I can do whatever they can do-and better.

I have had a successful life as a mother, and teacher, artist, writer, etc. My family treated me just like my brothers and sisters, and had high expectations for me. Ana Llora's family did just the opposite. Babied her and did not encourage her self-esteem or independence.

I am wondering where the black dress that Viv gave Analu comes in. There must be a reason for it. Maybe AnaLu posing as AnaLe to gain access to SantMarc?

I love the two hour episodes! Although I know it is difficult for the recappers. Bless you for the time and work that goes into it. Does anyone know the upcoming schedule? Does season 1 end-if so, when? or as someone said, maybe blend together with season2...and when would season 2 begin? I hope it continues, I love this tn!

Vivi, thanks for the Pedro Moreno tidbit - very interesting that he wears the ring in all the novelas.
I did realize the gata infeliz idiomatic meaning, but I am always amused at literally translating foreign language insults - they come out pretty funny! Thanks anyway though :)

So on being tired with Ana Lu. My personal frustration with her is reated to the character's personality, not to the reaction to the treatment, though one is sort of related to another. I absolutely agree that Soledad overstepped every boundary in treating her that way, and allowing Orlando to manhandle her like that. For that matter, I was mad at Remedios for just treating this situation matter-of-factly, not contradicting Sole and even driving away as Ana Lu was being dragged off.
But Ana Lu, even despite Sole's influence, looked to be a pretty wel adjusted individual. She is reacting surprised to Sole's treatment of her that way, which started since Ramiro appeared, and that would suggest that perhaps it wasn't always that way. So much like in a situation with Llora what surprises me is the contradiction: on one hand she handles Orlando, Santi well, but not Sole and Maribel. Llora can be all tough with Ramiro, but not with others.
There wasn't much Ana Lu could do last night, being dragged off and all, but I would bet she will forgive Sole pretty quickly, and at the very least that requires a long conversation about mutual respect, which given what we've seen of their relationship, Ana Lu should be able to do.

Here is another interesting point with her: she keeps repeating that Santiago loves her, not Ana Le, and Ana Le does not have the right to talk to her like that. But really, from her standpoint, she has been told that Santi loves them both, and she knows very little about Ana Le. We know she is pure evil, but Ana Lu should have at least some pangs of conscience at this point. I do agree that Boyer is doing an amazing job portraying such vivid characters!

Thanks Ria for the wonderful recap! I won't be watching the episodes for the next week+ but these recaps are better than the show!

JudyB, I'm with you, a pox on all of them! I'm so frustrated with everyone I can't watch but to ff through scenes.

I too hope that Ana Lu runs away from Soledad. She is an adult being treated like some unruly teenager. It's disgusting.

Agree that Ram should run far away too. Actually, he and AnaLu should run away together.

Virginia- You're an inspiration. Perhaps we need to send you in to speak to Ana Llora. :) It's too much to ask that the writers make this lesson very clear to the family and to Viewerville. Don't know if Ernestina and Mariano will ever break out of their old habits of how the treat the girls, and acknowledge the mistakes they made.I hope Viridiana spends some more time with Llora. She was actually a good/positive/empowering influence during their last brief encounter.

Ria- I think the only reason this was never a huge issue between Sol and Lu before is because Lu never pushed the boundaries before-- never wanted to leave their small town, never rebelled, never fell in love, etc. Soledad didn't just act weird when Ramiro and Santi came around, remember she also flipped when Ana Lu's dance troop got that big gig outside of town. She doesn't want Ana Lu to do anything that will put a spotlight on her (making her easy to find). Even if she had never met Santi and fallen in love, Sol would have been fighting Lu about her dance/performance ambitions. It was bound to happen sooner or later, unless Lu's only ambitions were to stay in their tiny town and work at their general store all her life.

Vivi, agreed for sure. But where I am going with this is if Ana Lu wasn't always treated that way and reasonably has an idea of what normal vs abnormal is, she should be able to rationalize and make some moves to resolve the situation given she is way past being a girl. So going back to that slap in front of everyone and how easily that was forgotten, as well as yesterday's delayed departure from Sole's grip - definitely looks like that's her way of processing this situation before deciding on a drastic action; I would just have expected her to get there faster based on previous history. Hopefully soon though anyway.

Vivi Thank you for that educational lesson on affluent slang! :P

daisy Very inciteful. I liked everything you said. I agree about Rem's apathy in this epi, I sort of half-expected her to come to AnaLu's aid. I didn't faut her when she didn't b/c she had Santi on her mind. And I'm not perturbed by her association w/ Sole only b/c I don't place her on the same moral pillar. Sole's intentions are selfish, but Rem is only thinking of what may happen to Santi. So she may not go as corrupt as we'd expect, b/c her decisions (tho unwise) are motivated by her compassion. I wouldn't necessarily call her obsessive, more like urgent & suspended by her promise to her late-hubby to protect Santi at all costs.

Cynthia I'm not a good speaker of my mother tongue, but I do like learning the varying dialects & colloquialisms from different regions. So you're in the same boat w/ us :)

Virginia I just hugged you through my screen. Your story is very inspiring. And no season breaks, looks like we're in this tn for the long haul.

Ria I see what you're saying, Ria. You make some valid points. I happen to think that even if Sole's actions are a recent occurrence, this makes it far worse. In my case, after awhile you begin to acquiesce to your situation, and pretty much let it ferment inside at times just to get by. But if I had a happy-go-lucky childhood & my parent turned into a monster out of nowhere, I think that would incite even more rebellion. We see this when Sole slaps her & she becomes shocked at this sudden behavior. We see AnaLu becoming increasingly aware of Sole's secretive & fearful nature. And then to be abused by her best friends in the most vulgar & physically invasive fashion, it was only a matter of time before she popped her top. Her ability to forgive & try to forget is an initial reaction in an effort to maintain her relationships. But when there are multiple occurrences, it's no longer logical to continue to reason their behavior, especially when it doesn't offer her any benefit at maintaining her relationships. This is her family trying to break her relationship, one of her most important ones. After being insulted by his wife & being told ad nauseum that she's a mistress by her family, it isn't reasonable to accept that abuse. I find there's nothing here to rationalize at all for me.

Thanks for the recap! The episode was a little frustrating but I still enjoyed it.

About the "gata inmunda" thing, I'm currently watching reruns of Soy tu Dueña and Ivana uses the phrase "gata igualada" a lot when referring to Benita.

Anyway, I was a little surprised when Iñaki broke down. I didn't think, with his previous behavior, that the whole thing with Julieta affected him that much. He seemed to hide his feelings really well before. But it looks like he's enjoying the compensation even though he didn't really have to do anything in the end.

I was wondering just where the heck did Orlando come from when Ana Lucia was trying to leave with Remedios to the hospital. It's better than she didn't go there though because if Facundo didn't allow Remedios to see Santiago then I doubt A. Lucia would've been able to do anything either. Not even she would've been able to convince Facundo otherwise given that he thinks he has "parental rights" over Santiago and all. Even if A. Lucia wasn't the long lost sister of A. Leticia she's still seen as "the other woman" so either way it was dangerous for her to show up at the hospital. She thinks she tough but she doesn't know how dangerous A. Leticia is.

I think it's about time the sisters meet. I want to see some excitement.

Thanks, Ria. So many funny quips. I missed some of both episodes, but now I feel I was right there.

I'm a sucker for a father comforting his son. Too bad Iñaki went back to his social-climbing self after crying on his papa’s shoulder.

So Daniel was a whole brother, not a half. No wonder Julieta was so sure Iñaki would be a donor match.

Sick of both Remedios and Soledad moaning and wailing about their kids. They're suffocating me. They are so consumed by their own fears and hurts, they haven't given a thought to how AnaLu's abuela and hermana were crushed by her "death." Ernestina can annoy too, but I can't wait for her to stick it to these two whiny crows.

While I found Facundo's attitude towards Remedios nasty, he did have a point about Soledad. Soledad kept and is keeping Ana Lucia away from her true family.

Soledad & Orlando keeping Ana Lucia locked up as an adult is worse than what she did to Ana Lucia as a child.

However, SOLEDAD had a good point that Santicelo was with his WIFE now; Analu showing up only exposes her as the mistress.

And Ana Lucia has some nerve to want to DEMAND to see Santiago, even after being told his wife was there. Girl, you are the SIDE HO! Know your role and stay in your lane.

If Mariano's love for Jennifer is so shallow that a few unproven words from Ana Leticia can turn his love into disgust, then he never really loved Jennifer anyway. Her dying may have been her escape from an unhappy marriage to Mariano, where he would've surely cheated on her.

In some scenes, Ana Leticia's dress had no cutouts; in others, it did have a cutout. I'm wondering if either

a) the dress has movable parts, i.e. you can roll it up to expose your midriff or roll it down to cover up

b) the continuity department screwed up by filming Ana Leticia wearing the dress Ana Lucia was given.

Because they keep mentioning it, I'm going to guess that Daniel probably WAS Tadeo's son. Sandro was giving Julieta the eye; she better watch it or she'll be the next one moving into the pension.

And I said it before but I'll say it again: Facundo has no right to look down on the pension when he was living in a shack in the woods looking like Capn Caveman last week.

Anon207 Agree with everything except the side-ho part. I get he's married as Marcelo, but she fell in love w/ Santiago. She was the one who rejected him in the beginning, and she was the one who said that they needed time when he came back to the pension. She wanted him to finalize the divorce, it wasn't til around the time he issued the papers that she began to take him more seriously. Besides, the marriage is supposedly easily dissolved b/c of the amount of time that's passed. He's only bound to AnaLet by a piece of paper & memories of a broken love. He doesn't really love AnaLet the way he thinks he does. I think he's just captivated by the memories as they're revealed to him. She's a cheater & a psycho. I hope he doesn't get amnesia & forget her Britney Spears moment w/ her Tio's car.

Yeah, I can't classify Ana Lucia as a "mistress" either, when the guy she's involved with: 1) hadn't seen his wife in 3 years when they met; 2) can't even remember that wife; 3) learned that wife had filed for divorce before he went missing; 4) has been presumed and declared dead for 3 years; 5) has now started divorce proceedings; and 6) has declared his intentions to marry her in front of her family and all of their friends. That's not mistress/side-piece status. That's definitely in the "it's complicated" box.

Thanks Ria for the two hour recap. Viewerville hopes for a return to one hour as soon as possible. It's exhausting to watch this marathon.

Found Facundo's challenge to Ramiro -- you're with with us or against us --a reminder that there are characters on the Dark Side and others on the Good side. And there are a few who fall into the "Gray - it's complicated" side. My pick of the Dark side: Evaristo & Company, Ana Leticia, Facundo, and Orlando. On the side of Light include: Ana Llora, Ana Lucia, Ramiro, Santiago's personality, Abue, and Ramidios. Gray side: Marcelo's personality, Mariano, Soledad, and Inaki. Of course it all depends on what happens in the next 70 something episodes since one or more could cross the line. And I keep hoping that by the final episode the anvil will have taken out Evaristo and Ana Leticia and placed them under the ground.

Anna: I keep wanting to take a conversational Spanish class. I can understand about half of what I'm hearing, but then I get stuck on some word and what I've just heard then makes no sense. My parents spoke Spanish to each other, but not to us kids. My brother married a gal from Mexico and he speaks and understands pretty well now. So hopefully we are all here learning together!

By the way, those of you who are writing in bold, how are you doing that? How do I change from plain text to be able to bold and italics?

Cynthia, we are using html codes - but I don't know how to explain them here because if I type in the code to show you, Blogger will think I want to make something bold and/or italic, so it won't show you the code.

But you'll note under the box where you enter your comments, it says "you can use some HTML tags." That's your clue.

Hold on, I have an idea. Let me test it...

Urban, Facundo is terrible indeed. I fear that even when he realizes that Ana Le is a sociopath, his snobbery and desire for his son to sustain "his" quality of life will prevail.

Jarifa, together with you I am all behind the hope that Ana Lu breaks free and runs into ger sister oh so soon. And you just gave me excellent news on those two hour episodes cutting back down to an hour, because those are long indeed!

Anon 9:08 - definitely reminiscent, Orlando needs to get his karma soon. By the looks of it he might just go crazy from everything he's done before the show is over.

Julie, I keep being disappointed too that with these two hour episodes I'm unable to watch any of the Olympics! And Julietta is just the worst, so she and Sandro probably deserve each other. I sincerely hope that they are not planning for an end-of-series reunion of Tadeo and Julietta. He should keep Nerina company.

JudyB, pox on all of them indeed! We might be overdosing on these characters with those show hours. Thank you for making me laugh!

Susanlynn, your Addicted to Love reference is hilarious. I wonder what next outfit is in store for her when (and if) she goes home to change. Though perhaps she will just continue to look impeccably dressed and made up through thr entire week.

Cynthia, I am definitely with you being irritated at Orland and Facundo. Two of the shadiest support characters here.

Daisynjay, I love you theory if hereditary memory loss in the family! I am not sure a slap on the head will help it – perhaps a lobotomy?
I'm wondering about Inaki too, inclined to think that he will reveal all of Santi's secrets to get in with Anna Le.

Virginia, I think you're exactly right about Llora - very good point, and an inspirational story! I wondered about the black dress too, It has to have a place later on.

Carvivlie, Ram and Ana Lu running away is a great idea! Except we will be left with all the mediocre characters, but it still might be worth it for them to be happier!

Anna, I agree with you too, it definitely is worse when it's so sudden and also hopefully a noticeable shock that we will see Ana Lu take some action on soon.

Niecie, that was a very touching scene with Tadeo and Inaki. Though I am not sure I am completely on board with Tadeo's behavior if it turns out that Daniel was indeed his son. Even though he knew that this boy was not in need of anything, he never looked for him? Of course that situation is a lot more complicated than that though.

Anon207, I'm somewhere in between your point of view and Vivi's/Anna's, though closer to theirs. I would definitely not judge Ana Lu that harshly, but think she is being blinded by her feelings and is setting herself up for being hurt. It already looks like Santi is going to agree to Ana Le's conditions of staying with her in order to get faster divorce, if it doesn't work out. And Ana Lu will of course be disappointed and hurt. I wish she would have a little more foresight to understand the compexity of this situation and disengage until Santi is free. But we are watching a telenovela and complicated is the name of the game!

I agree, Vivi.

I was worried about this accident messing even more with SantMarc's memory, but we will soon see. As to Mariano, I also suspect he didn't love Jennifer that much. He may be just as incapable as Ana Loon of truly loving anyone.

OK Cynthia, I'm going to give you an example, but I'm going to replace the angle brackets (greater than/less than signs) with parentheses.

To get this:
Cynthia
Cynthia
Cynthia

This is what I type in:
(b)(i)Cynthia(/i)(/b)
(b)Cynthia(/b)
(i)Cynthia(/i)

(remember to replace "(" and ")" with "<" and ">"

Anon 4:26, 70 more episodes? You just scared me :-) Also hope for some karma for Ev and Ana Le!

Ria, according to what I found online " Narcos" starts Monday 8/22 10:00 pm eastern time.

Jarifa, let's hope that Univision sticks to the plan for once. (And let's hope Narcos doesn't get bounced over to Unimas after a couple of weeks!)

While Santiago has the desire to leave Ana Leticia and be with Ana Lucia, the fact remains that Marcelo is married. Ana Lucia has now encountered his wife (albeit not in person). So now you know the wife isn't some shadowy figure, but a real live person you and Santiago will have to deal with. Even after being told by Ramiro the wife was there and being screamed at by the wife, Ana Lucia STILL is determined to go see Santiago.

But as Marcelo's LEGAL wife, Ana Leticia has every right to keep Ana Lucia away. Ana Leticia legally is the ONLY person who can keep somebody away from Marcelo (listen up, Facundo!) Ana Lucia is overstepping her bounds and needs to stay in her lane. Santicelo needs to clear up his legal issues with Ana Leticia, THEN sniff around Ana Lucia again.

As far as Facundo and the high life is concerned, it's not like Marcelo found Maribel and wants to divorce his rich wife Ana Leticia to marry Maribel. Marcelo found THE THIRD ALVAREZ DEL CASTILLO HEIRESS. Marcelo is with an heiress whether its Ana Lucia or Ana Leticia. His problem with Ana Lucia is not Marcelo not being with a rich status wife, his problem with Ana Lucia is Marcelo wants to remain Santiago in order to be with Ana Lucia. Anyone who is encouraging Marcelo to stay Santiago is Facundo's enemy.

Jarifa - thanks for the wonderful news! Is that the spanish version of Netflix series? I haven't watched it either, so don't even know if the Netflix version wasn't in Spanish and subtitled already.

Julie, true - who knows what Uni decides to do. We'll cross fingers though!

Anon207, I was disappointed too, from the character development standpoint, that Ana Lu took this second place/mistress spot so lightly. I know that the situation is a bit more nuanced, but she is now, in her agitated state due to being worried for Santi, is setting herself up to be revealed as his mistress. And she doesn't even know yet that she will turn out to be the mistress of her own sister's husband. I think this is about to get uglier too, as Santicelo will let himself be courted and seduced by Ana Le and Ana Lu will suffer. Not looking forward to that.

Ria, great recap this part made me change the channel and I didn't make it back to the show at all last night " Apparently Remedios is the most despicable person Facundo has ever known. (And wow, he must have led a very sheltered life)." but its so much less annoying (and more fun) reading your version
Thanks

Thanks Julie. I'm going to have to play around with that HTML code.

Julie is a good teacher, Cynthia. Years and years ago, she taught me how to "copy and paste". I didn't know a thing about computers!(and still don't) but I can copy and paste at least, thanks to Julie.

Anon207 I think our culture puts way too much emphasis on a legal document. Let me explain, there are many ppl who divorce in this country & many who are just separate for years b/c divorce gets tied up for so long. It may be due to alimony, kids, property, or that one spouse isn't willing to cooperate. We know Ana Let wants to hold Santi captive & she's not willing to give him a divorce, or make this divorce process easy if it does happen. If there's anytime for a woman to support her man, it's now. I'd have been surprised at her lack of loyalty to Santi if she didn't want to run to his side. This is the contrast bw her & Ana Let. When Santi is separate from Ana Let, she forgets her vows & goes wandering for attention elsewhere. But w/ Ana Lucia, she is committed to the promise she made Santi before he left to turn himself in. What you're basically saying is that a woman who holds the status of "wife" but doesn't respect her vows takes precedence over a woman who doesn't carry a title (aside from the one society wants to give her) but who is completely committed? You're telling me that a woman who places conditions on love (requiring his presence, attention, & willingness to do as she demands... aka drop Ana Lucia's investigation) has more right to him than the woman who gives love unconditionally? Sorry I can't bite, my grandmother was separated from my tyrant of a grandfather for 20 yrs. He refused to file & threatened to cut off her kids inheritance if they did. He continued having relationships, and she never found love again. She was proud & didn't want ppl to call her "promiscuous" or disrespecting her very broken marriage. She died 5 months ago, finally free of the Viejo she despised & was hostage to.
