Tres Veces Ana, #112, Monday Oct 10, 2016: Triple Play

That's "Triple Play" if you're counting slappers, and "Double Play" if you're counting gunshots.

Mariano tries to get AnaLu to change her mind about avoiding the family. If she won't stay at the mansion, she could at least come to his house so he can make up for lost time with her. She won't do it. She doesn't know where she'll go - maybe San Nicolas for a while. He wants her to travel the world. She'll think about it. No, she agrees - as long as Soledad can get out of jail. Mariano doesn't want to let a criminal get away with her crimes. AnaLu says although it's not easy to forgive her, she can't hate Soledad and won't let Mariano speak that way of the woman who gave her such a good and happy life. And if Mariano won't do it, AnaLu will still have the help of Viridiana!

At the jail, Valeria's getting out tomorrow, she tells Soledad. Soledad is happy for her. Val says she won't forget her, and will talk to the family on her behalf. Soledad says nah, I'll just rot here in jail. I've lost my freedom forever, but I'll always have my memories of AnaLu's childhood.

Leonor tells Ernestina of Ana Laura's temper tantrum. She didn't go off with a driver - she took one of the cars. This is alarming, because she's never driven, but Leo says Laura reminded her that Uncle Mariano taught her to drive and she's not as useless as everyone thinks!

Ramiro is fiddling with his phone at home, trying to reach his useless fiancee, when his doorbell rings. Is it Ana Laura? No, it's Maribel. Naturally, he lets her in, paving the way for a dumb misunderstanding that I'm sure will take place later in this episode. (He leaves the door wide open.) She tells him about Orlando attacking Javier. She's afraid. He tells her to wait at the rooming-house. She says he looks like he's been crying. He says he needs to be alone, but she doesn't want to leave him. After all, he's always been around when she needed him, and she's only too happy to return the favor. It's the least she can do for her superhero.

Ramiro tells Maribel (in his typically incoherent narrative style) about his father's suicide. He's caused nothing but trouble for his parents. They're both dead because of him, and he's not good for anyone. She takes his face in her hands, assures him it isn't so, and says he's the best man in the world.

Out in the hallway, the elevator bell rings. Maribel is saying "I love you" and kissing Ramiro, and he is holding her face (for comfort, and not to push her away) JUST as Laura walks in, having successfully navigated the streets of Mexico City without incident. Great, now I have to recap a really annoying argument. I can hardly wait.

Mariano goes to Viridiana's place and give her a hard time about meddling in family affairs. Viri thinks the least she can do is pay for a lawyer for Soledad. "You're not going to do that," he says, and he roughly grabs her and kisses her. She reacts poorly - and by that I mean that she doesn't punch him in the nads. No, she leans into the kiss. Or maybe she'll like it for now, then punch him in the nads a little later. That's an annoying telenovela cliche.

Ana Leticia meets Iñaki in the woods, looking like herself again. She complains about her "boring" makeover, although Iñaki thinks AnaLu is very pretty. He finally gets the chance to tell AnaLet what's going on - someone has video of them dumping Isidro's body. It's the same guy who showed Marcelo photos of the two of them going in and out of hotels. AnaLet is hearing all of this for the first time, and she is aghast, especially at the fact that Marcelo knows they are lovers.

AnaLu visits Remedios in the hospital. Rem happily informs that Santiago has just stepped out for some coffee and will be right back. (I'm confused, I thought he was Marcelo last time.) AnaLu panics and says she'll be back in half an hour - and please don't tell him she was here. But her escape is foiled when she runs into Santi in the hallway. Nope, he's Marcelo. "Disappointed?" he asks. No, she admits she's relieved that Santi isn't here. She's in love with Santi, but she doesn't feel anything for Marcelo. This surprises him. He moves to within kissing range and asks, if she feels nothing, why is she looking like that? She says he's making her "nervous." Heh, yeah, he makes me "nervous" too.

He asks if it bothers her when he looks at her lips. "I am not your wife," she says through gritted teeth. "I know," he replies. "Unlike Santiago, I've never confused the two of you." "You love your wife," she reminds him. Marcelo clarifies, he loved her intensely and also hated her with all his might. "But now I'm in front of you, nervous, and getting lost in your eyes. You can't imagine how much I envy Santiago right now for having won the love of a woman like you, Ana Lucia."

They almost kiss. Maybe they will kiss, but right now we're back in the forest with AnaLet and Iñaki. (Holy cow! She's wearing long pants. I didn't know she owned any.) Iñaki thinks he was confronted by Marcelo, but AnaLet assures him that since he's still alive, he must have been talking to Santi - not Marcelo.

Back to the hospital! "I need to kiss you," Marcelo tells AnaLu. "Don't you dare," she counters unconvincingly. She doesn't pull away from him, but she does hold him off with a single finger of protest. She admits that he has the same eyes, the same face, the same skin as Santi - but he's not Santi. He never will be.

Now we're at Viri's place, and I'm sad to report that no nad-punching has taken place. They are sitting on the sofa. He apologizes, and she says one kiss won't solve everything. He asks why she changed towards him. She says she thought she was in love, but she realized he wasn't the man she needed. But she wants to help his nieces. AnaLu is in so much pain, and Ana Laura has stolen her heart. As for Ana Leticia - Viri clears her throat delicately - Viri's been reading about schizophrenia, and -

But Mariano doesn't want to hear about that. Viri insists, AnaLet isn't well and she needs help. He cuts her off. "It was a mistake, my coming here. Don't come near my nieces - none of the three."

At the hospital, AnaLu tells Marcelo she knows Santi signed the divorce papers - because Mariano made him do it. But AnaLet didn't and she won't. Marcelo insists that their marriage is over. AnaLu says her relationship with Santi is done too. "Let's not talk about them," Marcelo says. "It's you and I who are here," he says. But AnaLu's not in love with Marcelo.

Marcelo reminds AnaLu that Santi doesn't really exist. He's a part of Marcelo who will eventually fade away. AnaLu points out that AnaLet DOES exist. She's his wife, her sister. And AnaLu doesn't like the kind of person that Marcelo is. Marcelo says she doesn't know him. Neither does Santiago. AnaLu says he's a murderer. Marcelo grabs her and says yes, he's an extremely dangerous man, and she's his next victim, "because I will kill you - WITH LOVE."

Now we're in the woods again. Iñaki's laughing at AnaLet for falling for SantiMarc's little dual-personality game. She insists that it's for real - and Santi is a lot more fun than Iñaki. Iñaki says he's more than just a toy. "If you say so," she replies noncommittally. He reminds her that they're getting married when she's a free woman. Offended, she slaps his face and punches him in the solar plexus - a trick she ought to teach to the other women in her circle.

Ah! Here we go. After clearly enjoying Marcelo's kiss, AnaLu pulls away and slaps him. "Don't you dare kiss me! I'm warning you!" Er, too late, AnaLu. I don't think she's fooling him, either!

And here we go again - Ramiro asks Ana Laura to let him explain. SLAP! YEAH! It's that triplets thing happening again!

Maribel intervenes and says it was all her fault. Laura slaps her, too. "Who is this chick?" she asks Ramiro. He introduces Maribel as a "friend." Actually, Maribel introduces herself and is right in the middle of explaining that she's the best friend of - "Ana Lucia," Ana Laura finishes for her. Now Ramiro thinks he understands why he's in the doghouse, but he doesn't know the half of it. "Ana Lucia is Marcelo's lover, and this chick is yours," is how Ana Laura has connected the dots.

AnaLu asks Marcelo to stop complicating her life. Marcelo sits and says he's just trying to stop Santiago from stealing his life. He's been trying so hard to get vengeance and now he realizes that aside from hostility, he's got nothing and no one. He's totally alone. He feels dead inside. But with one kiss she managed to accomplish something he hasn't been able to: now he feels alive.

Iñaki tells AnaLet not to hit him again, so she slaps him again. "Don't provoke me," he warns angrily. "Whatcha gonna do, kill me like you killed your brother?" she taunts. "Will you kill me like you did Jennifer?" he retorts. They start making out, but Orlando interrupts them and tells them to get a hotel. (Something tells me they'll wish they had.) He wants his money. Iñaki won't give him any. (AnaLet hisses nervously at him.) He tells Orlando to hand over the recording, and that will be the end of it.

AnaLet really wants to give Orlando the money, but Iñaki would rather beat Orlando to death for hitting Javier. "Try it," Orlando teases, "but I didn't come alone." AnaLet glances around nervously.

Ramiro asks Maribel to go home so he can talk to his novia. Ana Laura says there's no need for Maribel to leave - they're through. She throws the ring on the floor. But Ramiro grabs her (what's with all the manhandling tonight?) and Maribel takes the opportunity to scurry out, thoughtfully closing the door behind her. Ramiro and Ana Laura are both upset, and failing to communicate.

She wants to know what went wrong on their big night together. She ignores his protests; "we know very well what was missing," she accuses. She announces that they are done forever. She twists from his grasp and slams the door on her way out.

AnaLu tells Marcelo about her proposed world tour. She wonders if she'll ever get over all this pain. Crying, he takes her hand and asks her not to go and abandon him now. She tells him not to speak to her that way. He says, if she really knew him, she'd know how hard it was for him to overcome his pride and be so vulnerable in front of her. He begs her to listen to him, but she doesn't want to. However, she does have something to say to Santiago. She leans in close and says she's getting out of his life forever. It doesn't matter if he's getting divorced; there's no way they can have a future together. But she wants to know that since the first day she saw him, only he lives in her heart, and she will love him for all of her life.

Iñaki thinks Orlando is bluffing about having reinforcements. Orlando urges him to find out. AnaLet steps in and says she's always known that Orlando was someone's minion (achichincle), but never could figure out whose - until now, meeting him in this particular place, she realizes that it must have been Evaristo who got Orlando to follow her. Where is he?

"Don Evaristo is dead," Facundo declares, stepping out of the shadows. He explains that Evaristo had a powerful, invincible enemy - "the years." (That was the great enemy. All of us who guessed Rodrigo, we were wrong, apparently.) Evaristo never really worked for Marcelo. He reported to Facundo! And now Facundo is here to settle up with her on Ev's behalf.

"I'm not alone, hah!" Orlando crows, just before Facundo shoots him dead. Orlando falls to the ground with his eyes wide open, his face frozen in surprise. Ana Let freaks out and tries to hide behind Iñaki, who struggles to keep his own composure. Facundo ignores Iñaki and tells AnaLet he knows that it was at this very spot that she ordered Marcelo's death. She denies it.

Iñaki tries to smooth things over with Facundo, but foolishly refers to Marcelo as "Santiago," which does not help at all. Facundo shoots him as well, and we hear his body tumble down the hill.

Facundo tells the thoroughly traumatized AnaLet that it was a poor way to save her marriage, being photographed going to a hotel with that jackass. Now she's going to get in her car and go home. She'll be followed, so she'd better obey. She can cry about her dead lover all night long, and when she's dried her tears, they'll discuss her "priorities."

Facundo glances meaningfully down the hill and tells AnaLet that his "people" will take care of cleaning up the "trash." He offers her his arm to lead her back to her car.

Morning. Ana Laura sobs in her bed for Ramiro. AnaLet hugs her pillow and cries about Iñaki. AnaLu sits by Remedio's bed and moans over Marcelo (that's right, not Santiago, but Marcelo).

Ramiro is pondering over his father's closed casket as Rodrigo and Marcelo chat. Ramiro didn't want anyone else to be notified. He's alone, mourning someone who's like a stranger to him. They think Ana Laura should be here, but they don't want to upset Ernestina, with her weakened heart. Ratmundo worked for her for many years. On the subject of Facundo, Rodrigo's lawyers are working on his arrest. Marcelo doesn't think he'll be easy to find. He doesn't know where his father is, but he won't be able to hide from Marcelo for very long.

Ana Laura tells herself to stop crying. Leonor shows up with the orange juice. She's worried that Laura is still mad at her. Laura tries to throw her out of the room, but she doesn't have a leg to stand on... um... sorry about that. Leonor says that Grandma is worried about Laura. Laura coldly asks how she's doing. Turns out Grandma got dressed and went to her study, but the doctor sent her back to rest. Laura says she'll go to see her, after she takes a shower, which she will do by herself because she's not useless and she doesn't need Leonor's help! I know she's trying to be defiant and independent, but she sounds like a brat.

Leonor has an equally miserable good-morning chat with AnaLet. She just wants to talk, but AnaLet thinks she's being offered Ana Laura's leftover orange juice, and after cutting down her great-aunt for still being a servant, she tries to kick her out. As AnaLet's hairspray wafts into Leonor's face, Leonor says that her own position in this household won't change.

Remedios is going home today. AnaLu tries to do Rem's hair and makeup, but Rem doesn't want any. She wants to know what AnaLu and Santi talked about last night. AnaLu ruefully reports that it was Marcelo last night. Rem says they're both the same to her now. He's trying to put himself back together, and then AnaLu will love him as Rem does. AnaLu is skeptical that Santi and Marcelo can reconcile.

Rem is sad that AnaLu will be moving out soon, to live with her family. But AnaLu says she's going away on a trip with her uncle and grandmother and doesn't know for how long. She asks Rem to take care of Soledad when she gets out of jail. "Soledad's in jail??" poor Rem asks.

Mariano goes to the jail to tell Soledad that AnaLu wants her to be released. He objects to Soledad referring to AnaLu as "my daughter," but Soledad maintains that AnaLu will always be her daughter, even if it sickens Mariano to hear it. Whatever, Mariano says she can get out of jail if she promises to disappear. Only under his conditions can she get out (there may be more conditions, which we don't get to hear).

AnaLet goes to Iñaki's apartment and knocks and rings the doorbell frantically. She tries his phone and gets the "out of range or turned off" message. She begins banging her head against the wall, scolding herself that he's dead and she didn't do anything about it. She asks herself, why does it hurt so much?

The elevator dings. It's Marcelo. "Tell me, my love, did you spend the night with your new lover?"

Comments:
I didn't do a "next time" because again, the avances were rather juicy (though not as juicy as the ones on Friday night, sheesh that was crazy), and I wish I hadn't seen them. Usually the avances during ultimos capitulos are tantalizingly vague, mere teasers - but these have been going the other way and I'm mystified by this approach. There's really no need to spoil people during ultimos!!

So, how about that, we finally found out who Ev's powerful enemy was.

And after Facundo shot Orlando and then Iñaki, I had to take a break. Honestly I was a little confused by the avances last week and wasn't sure what I was seeing. I knew someone was going to be shot in that scene, but either couldn't tell or somehow forgot WHO. And I especially didn't realize there were two.

But I knew Iñaki was asking for trouble when he tried to talk his way onto Facundo's good side. Facundo doesn't have a good side!

I was really grateful that AnaLaura's argument with Ramiro was brief. Of course it was brief because she wouldn't let him talk, but the alternative would have been to hear him try to explain, and I think I've already gone on record as being disappointed with this skills in that area.

Sorry, I meant "disappointed with HIS skills in that area." Good night.

Thanks Julie, I was watching earlier and I'm watching it again.

I wonder if Inaki is really dead? I'm kind of disappointed it all went down that way. And how is it that Ana MeMe shows up at Inaki's apartment when she knows he's been shot. You just don't get up and walk home after a gunshot wound, even when you do live through it.

Ana Laura is selfish, she should have listened to Ram's explanation. Fine, she can be single the rest of her life.

Ana Laura is UNREDEEMABLE. Her disability is emotional, not physical. Ram, just move on.

Thank you Julie. I read it twice because I liked it so much.

Cynthia, I am wondering same thing. I am wishing and a-hoping that he was wearing bullet proof vest as a prevaution before the meeting and he will reappear.

I found it interesting that A Let seems to actually have fallen in love with him, and those feelings were foreign to her. Those two had firework chemistry. I dont understand how I still like Inaki even though he is murderer. I really liked to hear him argue w ALeticia.

Cynthia ITA Ana Laura might end up single or married to Valentin because he sure has her number. Someone mentioned possibility that he wasnt even crippled but faking......especially when he told Ana Let that his biggest attribute is that he was very patient and bid his time so everything works out in his favor. He is biggest con.

Julie, thanks. The recap was outstanding! This must have been a fun episode to recap with all of the action.

What a revelation that Evaristo worked for Facundo! I love it!

Wow! I was actually appreciating Facundo last night because he was disposing of some of my most disliked characters and threatening Ana Leticia. Now if he would just turn the gun on himself! What a great episode to see Orlando and Iñaki shot in the same scene and Ana Leticia meet her match. I hope Iñaki is really dead because it looked like he got shot in the shoulder. He needs to be gone.

Miguel, I so agree about Ana Laura's breakup with Ramiro. He doesn't realize yet, but he should be celebrating.

I could not believe Ana Leticia being the brat with Leonor about basically the "reject" orange juice that was prepared but refused by Ana Laura. What does Leonor get from her servile attitude? Hiding her true relationship to the girls all of these years? Something not quite right there either.

I enjoyed the scenes with Ana Lucía and Marcelo. Sebastián Rulli has been great in this one, too, and so pleasant to look at!

Thank you Julie! Boy, you had a dousy to recap.

It was such a frustrating episode. I want to just shut Llora up. Stop showing her sniveling. Love of her life bull hockey. Let the man say one word. Run, Ram. Run.

And Inaki. I'm going on the premise he isn't dead. That was a really unsatisfactory anvil for him. We knew he was most likely going to get bumped off, but in the woodjust bads, forgotten, not able to help reveal anything on AnaLet ( oh girl...you were in lurvvv. HA!!)If that is truly it for him, bad writers, just bad. But hills come in handy for someone to rise from the "dead".

Honestly, at this stage, I got nothing on anyone. The best thing is that AnaLu is thinking of doing the world tour. Go girl, go! How did we get so many aggravating people in one TN?

Daisynjay, you are probably right about Iñaki. :(

Julie, thank you for the fantastic recap.

"Ramiro is fiddling with his phone at home, trying to reach his useless fiancée" and "Ramiro tells Maribel (in his typically incoherent narrative style
She says he's making her "nervous." Heh, yeah, he makes me "nervous" too" were among many favorites.

As you noted, I also wish I hadn't seen the previews. If I hadn't, the two for one shootings would have been a real shock.

Still, the weather beaten Facundo we saw in mourning for his son is a far cry from the cold, calculating murderer we saw last night. These two pieces don't quite fit for me.

"AnaLu sits by Remedio's bed and moans over Marcelo (that's right, not Santiago, but Marcelo)". Agree that the sparks were combustible. Jarifa, I was also thinking last night that Rulli (and many others) have been great here. But still everything pales to Boyer's performance. And perhaps it should.

I thought Inaki was shot dead in the chest. It seemed like such a premature end to his fascinating storyline. While there is still much to be resolved, if he does survive, what would his end be? I wondered for a brief moment if he and Facundo were in cahoots but I think that would be too far fetched. Cynthia and daisy, I'm not sure how I feel. If alive, will he cling to life to repent and say goodbye to his father and Javier? So many possibilities.

I'm not all that surprised Ana Let "mourned" Inaki. In her own, brief way of course. She seemed to feel minimally for Marcelo too. But her obsession with Mariano renders her incapable of any real feeling.

Ana Laura? I can't even go there. Ramiro deserves so much better.

Thanks again Julie.

Diana

Thanks, everybody. Yes, it was fun to recap. Plenty of surprising moments. One of the biggest surprises for me (aside from TWO bullets) was Maribel's reaction to Ana Laura. Despite her defiant words to AnaLu about not caring that Ramiro had a novia, she said and did exactly what she should have for both Ramiro's and Ana Laura's sakes. She didn't try to throw the kiss in Laura's face as AnaLet would have done.

Also, when I said "triple play" I was thinking only of the slapping. There was another triple play later as the triplets were each thinking about the men in their lives. And AnaLu was thinking about Marcelo!

Even if Iñaki survived that bullet, he's not out of the woods yet (no pun intended). Facundo's guys were coming for the cleanup and they would no doubt try to finish him off. What if he needs an organ donation from Javier? This will be another strike to Ghoulietta's shriveled heart.

Gracias, Julie. This was a hell of an episode.

I didn't expect to see Orlando and Inaki bumped off so soon and by Facundo. I was expecting one to kill the other and the second one bumped off later. However, I think the writers are clearing the decks for the ends of Facundo and Ana Leticia.

As was pointed out Inaki may not be dead yet, but logically anyone sent by Facundo would likely finish that job.

I hope SantMarc plays it very carefully when he encounters Facundo again, as he likely will before the police get him. It has just occurred to me that Facundo might try to kill him, he ends up in the hospital with a gunshot wound, and ends up having both surgeries while the police are chasing Facundo. Speculation, as we can't know much in the way of spoilers at this stage.

Diana, I agree with you about Facundo. I have been wondering whether the writers had originally planned on him being different from the character we now know. I don't know the actor's full resume so I can't say he's been typecast as a villain based on the two roles I've seen him in. However, in both of those his evil was hidden from us for a while.

As usual, the good guys always get stalled by someone refusing to listen. Ana Laura is going to have to hear about Ratmundo from someone else, probably Valerie once she's out of jail. And when is she going to talk about the "Ana Lucia" she met? And to whom? It better be Ernestina.

As for why Leonor continues to maintain her servant disguise I'm going to guess that it's because there are too many family secrets now for her to be willing to risk exposure to a servant from the outside.

Julie - Thank you for the excellent recap. So much action that goes where? And dialogue that is equally unclear!

We do see a few new threads. Marcelo (the newly integrated SantiMarc) declares his love for AnaLu.

AnaLau, for better or worse, is trying to establish her independence. I hope that part continues, with a little more intelligence and less snottiness to Leonor.

And Viridiana has called it on AnaLe to Mariano. AnaLe is not well and he has to see that.

Mariano is turning out to be a better man than I thought he could be. Not completely there yet, but acting more intelligently than he has in the past. Now if he can only get a clear view of AnaLe.

AnaLe's scope of action is now limited by Facundo's control. This should be interesting. She certainly looked scared last night.

AnaLe had some feeling for Inaki, who I fear is a goner. He was a fascinating character played by a good actor!

For all that, the episode felt flat to me, like they are stretching out more than necessary. But we know that telenovela writers would never do that !!!!!!!!

I have tried and tried to see this all from Ana Laura's point of view, but I keep coming back to the fact that she doesn't trust a man she's known all her life.

But then I also remember that he actually has been lying to her.

I was just about to say that Ramiro's lies don't excuse her attitude towards Leonor, but then I remembered that Leonor has been lying to her too - a lie of omission. How will Laura react when she finds out that Leonor has been playing housemaid to her own family? Will she welcome Leonor as her great-aunt? In her current state of mind she will only see this as another deception.

Yet, she still trusts Valentin and Ana #4 - the newest people in her life. (And AnaLet, a proven malicious liar.) It hasn't occurred to her yet that they could be liars too, and all lies aren't equal, and these two have more reason to lie to her. She's incredibly patient with Valentin and she's still willing to give #4 another chance, but Ramiro doesn't get to tell her a single thing.

Sure, per Chana's prediction she will probably save the day somehow, and then she will magically be totally healed and evolved. It doesn't happen like that in real life, though. I'm all for bending the truth for the sake of fiction, but it's a major writing fail for someone to be transformed so easily. (If it actually happens, but it seems likely.)

Oh, yes, the slapping. That was down right funny. The writers must have enjoyed creating those scenes.

Julie - I agree with all that you say about AnaLaura. I am looking for some way for her to redeem herself in Viewerville's eye and fulfill Chana's prediction (which involved her and Ramiro working together, as I recall).

What made her so mad after Valentin's manipulation was that people around her took her as stupid and weak. She is now reacting to that and if she could follow through, she might discover a few things for herself. That would include the deception of Valentin and Ana#4.

She is clearly hurt by the loss of Ramiro and probably not sure whether she acted rashly.

That's all I got in the hope department. I don't thinks that a "totally healed and evolved" person will emerge but perhaps someone stronger.

Thank you for the recap Julie.

I am glad that Ana Leticia is falling for Inaki, maybe when she does realise that she does love him, she can stop chasing after her uncle. Speaking of Inaki, I doubt that he is dead, it seemed to me that he shot on his shoulder. I am really glad that Ana Laura is getting some backbone at the moment, she is my favourite sister and I am glad she is no longer letting herself become a liability.

Diana, you are so right about Boyer being the best of the best in this.

Oh Inaki Inaki, big balls, little brain, look what it got you. Good riddance. Bring boxing gloves to a gunfight? Hmmm.”Oh don’t worry my sweet little whore, I’ll protect y.”...BLAM. ! Inaki? Inaki? Oh Shit. Umm.. Hey Fecal Breath, Ya feelin frisky? We can work this out, you know?

It was a sign of how absolutely CRAZY AnaLet truly is, standing there watching Feceldo shoot Inak then going looking for him at home the next morning. Cukoo for Cocoa Puffs. They are trying to soften her for us like they are trying with SoeBad, like she is not really bad, just a little crazy, lets let her out of jail.

I so enjoyed seeing Fec shoot Inaki. I cared less about Pennzoil, but my happiness was shortlived when I realized he did not put the bullet right into the brain. See, I haven’t seen many bullet proof beanies. Like others, I can’t help but assume that that is significant, as Pennzoil got it where it counted.

So we are setting up for another warm and fuzzy father son banquet like Rat and Ram? It seems Marky Mark has Fecal Matter in his crosshairs, this will not end well.

Oh Julie Thanks for an excellent recap, I sooo enjoyed it.

t

I thought I understood Mariano telling SoeBad his condition for her release is that she disappear, never to be seen or heard from again. Anubody else hear anything like that?

TOA

Ana Leticia doesn't love Inaki any more than she loves Marcelo. She is incapable. She may just be shocked because she saw Facundo shoot him in blood that could be colder than her own.

As to whether she is schizophrenic I can't say. She is something worse: She is evil, selfish, and malicious. It's hard to see how she got that way, particularly since she showed evidence of it before she was five years old. Viridiana hit a nerve when she told Mariano that Ana Leticia is sick and needs help; this is something he is clearly in denial about. Nobody likes to hear anyone point out that a relative is mentally ill. There are still places in the world where there is a major social stigma about this, but I thought Mexico was getting over it.

TOA, I heard that, too. It's not going to get Mariano anywhere with Ana Lucia. She might end up rejecting him, the whole lot of that family, and her rightful inheritances. none of them are going to like the reveal about SoleBad being another great-aunt. That might be just enough to really drive Ana Leticia over the edge.

Yes, TOA, I did hear that, but he said it before he said that he had conditions, which I took to mean that he was about to lay out some formal conditions.

Still, I should have put that in my recap. I'll fix it.

Julie: Noooo...I thought I was hearing things, that's all.
The Other Alzheimer

I had a weird moment when Facundo said that Evaristo had been defeated by "the years." I got a mental image of calendars snapping viciously at him.

Thank you, Julie! I'm looking forward to watching this episode to see all the slaps. :)

Sounds like Oily is very dead, and Inaki has a good chance of rising from the dead because Fac didn't shoot him in the head. Since Inaki still has much to reveal about AnaLet, I'm also going to assume he's not really dead.

We already learned Evaristo was really working for Fac and not Marcelo a few episodes back. He hired Ev to make sure Marcelo never learned his father was the big mafia boss he was chasing. And Alfredo also knew that Ev was really working for Fac and Fac's real profession (mafia boss).

Thanks so much Julie, this was wonderful.

Some of my faves:

Naturally, he lets her in, paving the way for a dumb misunderstanding that I'm sure will take place later in this episode.

Useless fiancé

Holy cow! She's wearing long pants. I didn't know she owned any.

I, too, was frustrated this episode with Llora - my goodness, I understand she is now upset she's been a pushover all her life, but the 180 turn is insane! Ramiro really needs a new fiance, this one is a gullible spineless twit.

How unexpected with Inaki. And what is Facundo's plan for Ana Le??

Ana Let didn't know that Evaristo was working for Fac, though. It's finally dawning on her that she isn't holding as many of the cards as she thought she was.

Julie- Ah, yes. AnaLet is now learning she is a small fish in a big pond, and is being manipulated by more powerful forces-- just like she has enjoyed manipulating others.

Ria, I think Fac-Man's plan for AnaLet is to get her to stay married to Marcelo at any cost.

Off Topic to Ramiro: I told you before the carnival chick was a better catch. And I also told you it would not require three months of begging and a CanCun vacation for the skivvies to hit the floor. Now is the time. Why spend the next few years on a fixer upper when for the same price a Porsche is sitting there with her motor running and a F U L L tank of gas. (maybe overflowing) BTW Inakifriendwithearthworms didn't listen either.

ViVi and Julie: Keeping Marcelo married to AnaLetMeShitinmyOnlyPants is one of the few things Fecun has shown a real interest in lately, the other being the lock box.

So I assume he plans to enlist LaLetMeSIMOP in some scheme to stay married to Marky Mark. What I do not know is what angle that is for him. I mean, I'd betcha it is more involved than simply wanting pretty Grandkids.

Julie, This was a wonderful recap! Thank you so very much. And I really appreciate that you always get them up so quickly. Not knowing Spanish, there are always many things that need clarifying for me, for example, the conversation in the hospital between Marcelo and AnaLu.

I especially enjoyed this recap because of the humor...

"she didn't have a leg to stand on," (It's OK to say that. I'm handicapped, and I thought it was funny-just seemed to fit.)

"She says he's making her "nervous." Heh, yeah, he makes me "nervous" too" were among many favorites." (...and may I say, he makes me "nervous", too.) Lucky Angelique!

I'm also hoping Inaki isn't dead. He needs to make amends to his father and brother. Maybe he survived and was able to make it back to the pension.

Again, Julie, I'm glad I stayed up for this. I read it twice last night, and twice this AM-so far.

Not sure of my punctuation today-I think much of it is incorrect. My "punctuation" has gone the way of my "words" ( must be my age). If you find them, please send them back to me...

Thanks so much Julie. I watched it again (sometimes I miss little pieces of details) but boy your recap was so on target. I loved your subheading: "That's "Triple Play" if you're counting slappers, and "Double Play" if you're counting gunshots." I was a little shaken when Fac shot Inaki (I still have a soft spot for him and am so hoping he can redeem himself). I never count anyone as dead unless we actually see the dead body and a funeral.

I wonder what the motive for Fac wanting Marcelo and Ana MeMe to stay together? I really don't get that one unless he has some sort of plan for bleeding that family dry and ripping them off. So we have Evilristo dead, Ratmundo dead, and Oilando dead. So far so good on the demise of the bad guys.

Cynthia, I think indeed that Facundo is hoping to bleed the family dry, or work it out so Marcelo inherits everything.

Thank you Julie!

Can I say again how much I hate Soledad! The nerve of her saying what she did to Mariano after he explained he was there to get her out. She stole 20 years from him! She's barely been in jail, had a wonderful roomie in Val, and is getting away freaking scott free. Next Ernie will find out she is her half sister and somehow all will be fecking forgiven! Bloody bloody hell!!!

We knew Ram hiding AnaLucia would come back to bite him. He had no good reason. I feel bad for the guy though

Doubt Inaki is dead. I had a feeling after the last scene between Inaki and Javi that Javi was going to find a way to follow him. I'm thinking Javi may save him.

AnaLucia is just being stupid in regards to getting to know her family. She should move in with Tio. I like the trip idea but AnaLaura should go too. Of course watch AnaLaura won't meet the real AnaLucia until the last episode.

AnaLet cried after Marcelo died too. I think she really liked Inaki but she will get over him soon.

I think Viri is wrong about AnaLet being schizo. I have only seen one bad personality this whole time. She is just a bad seed and I don't want the writers diminishing her evilness through sickness.

About Ana Le being schizophrenic: I don't think so. Usually a schizophrenic loses touch with reality and I don't see that in her. She has more like a personality disorder or psychopathy. Here is a link: http://www.minddisorders.com/Flu-Inv/Hare-Psychopathy-Checklist.html

There was really no good reason for anyone to keep the secret about AnaLu. People either kept the secret because Soledad begged them to, or because SantMarc begged them to (asking for time to straighten things out). Ramiro had BOTH Soledad and SantMarc begging him to keep mum, but Ramiro gave them a timeline to wrap up their issues before he spilled the beans to Ana Laura-- 6 months. I'm giving him a pass. He was as honest as he could be, while trying to please and help everyone. Even after other people learned AnaLu was alive, they were perfectly fine with letting Ana Laura believe that AnaLu was dead (even Mariano). But Ramiro wouldn't allow that. He made sure Ana Laura did not give up hope and assured her that her sister was alive. He's in a no-win situation.

Julie, yep,I see Facundo wanting into the family fortune. By keeping AnaLoon married to his son, he now has direct access to their businesses and her inheritance. With Rat gone, he could ingratiate himself into a more advisory capacity with Abue ( if she falls for it). But Mariano is in the way on all that...and I can see him as Fac's next target. now THAT is not someone AnaLoon would allow to be taken down and Fac doesn't know that.

What irks me most if the writers truly did off Inaki is that he was one of the main secondary leads that was intertwined with more characters than just AnaLoon. There some juicy stuff there that could be done between he and his father/brother, Ghouletta coming out to her other son through his shooting, what Inaki knows about AnaLoon and Jennifer...just too much to be left flat.

I will "wax dangerous" as dear Shakespeare said if they let the secret of Jenny's death fall into the "oops we forgot that plot point" as we head into last episodes. Mariano HAS TO find that out. HAS TO! I really think that's the Big Bang piece of info he's going to learn to make him wake up to what AnaLoon is.

Daisyjay - Love your thinking about the plot with regard to AnaLe and Facundo. She can be pushed around until it comes to a conflict with el tio.

I agree, also, that Inaki is a pivotal character. I just can't see Facundo and his squad allowing him to survive and I feel like his and Orlando's shooting signals a new and late stage where the physical danger to the remaining group ramps up. But I hope that he lives to at least reconcile with his family and spill the beans on what he knows.

Cynthia, I too doubt that AnaLe is schizophrenic but she certainly has some kind of personality disorder. The uncontrollable rage goes a little beyond just being a very bad seed. I doubt that there is a drug that could straighten her out but I think that she will be labeled by the daily as ill and hospitalized in the end. Just a guess, of course.

There are a number of conditions that start with "schiz" (schizotypal personality disorder, schizoid personality disorder, schizoaffective disorder) and I may have been too hasty in assuming that Viri said "schizophrenia." I agree that the symptoms really aren't right, though none of the other schizzes fit very well either.

However, I've seen bipolar disorder grossly misrepresented in TNs, so there's no reason to expect that they'd get any other mental illness right.

Viri's not even in a position to know whether AnaLet has ever experienced psychosis. From Viri's perspective, "narcissistic personality disorder" would have been a more sensible guess and also would not have scared and offended Mariano to such an extent. (Telling someone "hey I think your niece may be schizophrenic" is a great way to trigger a very defensive reaction, especially if you've never even been to medical school!)

Thanks so much, Julie! This episode was really messy!

I don't want Iñaki to be dead. He's too much fun and his role in all this isn't done yet. There's still a lot of open ended issues that he's directly involved in. Which got me thinking where are the videos that he and AnaLet took of each other confessing their crimes? Someone else will have to see those eventually. As for Orlando, he can be dead lol.

The conversation between AnaLu and Marcelo was interesting. Marcelo seems to still want to fight to fully be himself but it seems like Santiago is not letting up.

I can't even begin to express how angry I was with Ana Laura. She's gonna feel super guilty when she finds out that Edmundo is dead. Ramiro needs her but she's letting misplaced jealousy get in the way.

Facundo doesn't seem to know anything about Ana Leticia's mental state. If there is any time left for him to find out he might think to use it to his own advantage: On the assumption that she is in no mental state to manage her own money Marcelo would take it over as her husband.

However, Facundo can't count on Marcelo complying with his demands. He doesn't know this yet but when he finds out there will be an operatic battle with potential for a more intense scene than Ratmundo's suicide.

If Inaki is dead, or AnaLet just keeps thinking he is, she will be going crazy trying to find his copy of the video.

Does Facundo have access to the offshore bank account Ratmundo was using to hide the stolen funds? Fac and Ev both knew what Ratmundo was up to and I'm sure they wanted a piece of it.

I think Sole has been one of the least likable people, not just to the audience, but to the entire cast of characters so it is unbelievable that all of these good people would stick up for her? Val was with her for a few days in jail and is ready to go to bat for her. Come on! If this was the Wire I would be much happier right now.

Julie - I am sure that you translated schizophrenia right. It is just telenovela medicine in action!!

I had forgotten about the confession videos. AnaLet seems to have forgotten momentarily as well. (Either that, or she managed to swap cards with him, or deleted her own confession from his card, so has nothing to worry about.)

If Inaki is dead, and if he was foolish enough to carry her confession around with him, Fac's men may find it on him. Just in case Fac needs something to hold over AnaLet's head. After all, she's scared for now, but she probably won't stay docile for very long. On the other hand, she's probably only too happy to scheme with Fac to get Marcelo back, since that's what she already wanted.

What I'm still not sure of is what she was trying to accomplish as Ana #4. Obviously she was trying to get Ramiro in trouble with Ana Laura, and trying to pre-emptively sour things between her two sisters. But most of the things she said will quickly be disproved by the real AnaLu, who doesn't care about the money and isn't planning on stealing Marcelo.

*Shows up to the comment section wearing her black mourning attire--but then tears it off*. NO, I REFUSE! Ok *deep breath*. Look, I didn't even like this character in the beginning. He was an unforgivable leech, who only cared about making money. And then I fell in love with the bozo, OUTTA NOWHERE! So the gunshot still took me by surprise. He's an awesome character, who stole viewer's hearts and deserves a better ending. No, I think his being shot is meant to trigger something in ALet. We haven't seen the last of him, te juro!

Julie Such awesome work on the recap!! My faves:
nah, I'll just rot here in jail
typically incoherent narrative style
Heh, yeah, he makes me "nervous" too.
Holy cow! She's wearing long pants.
she doesn't have a leg to stand on

Btw, Ev's "powerful enemy" was originally coined by Martinez and by Marcelo (I think?), this was mentioned in response to the question of who switched bodies. Now that we know it's Rodrigo (the very person who called Ev his enemy), we see that this theory wasn't wrong, but in fact PROVEN. Fac-man was merely mentioning an overall enemy of Ev's being "time", but this was no secret as Ev himself has often referenced this.

Cynthia and Daisy Yea, I refuse to believe he died. It was too quick, and not the glorious moment that he deserved. Ev & Oily got the ends they merited, but Inaki's was too cheap & unfulfilling. Te Juro!

Leticia I would love it if Tin's disability were fake, it'd make his & Ana Laura's connection obsolete. But I can't see why he'd fake something at the risk of losing Gina & also feel it necessary to pretend around Clawdia.

Diana I once said that Inaki would probably be the guy that makes Ana Let realize that he's the man of her dreams, and that her love for Tio is just a crazed obsession. I believe that Inaki is her soulmate, and it took losing him for her to realize he's "the one". Te Juro Muy Duro!

Jarifa and Urban It's not a disguise. Even if the secret was advertised on television, Leonor will always be a servant. For her, servitude is her rightful place. And since her mother abused her station, she refuses to do the same. She sees herself as a "mistake" her mother made, and chooses to live the rest of her life paying for that mistake.

Mati I honestly stopped caring for her as a character. Whether she evolves, or stays pathetic & continues misplacing her trust, is no longer a concern of mine. The writers have made her too incompetent for value.

Anon8:58 I'm hoping the same too! I always felt like Marcelo was just a distraction, but Inaki might be her cure. Juro, juro, juro.

TOA I think she retained some hope, wanted to reduce her guilt, or just didn't want to believe that it actually happened. Unless she's truly schizo & has issues discerning her reality.

Ria I know. As soon as I saw his apt door wide open (a pet peeve of mine, who does that?), I knew we were going to get a run-in with Ana Laura.

Carvivlie Oh you're right! I forgot Javi is expecting a call, hopefully he followed Inaki & saved him before the goons showed up! *Sips her chocolate Yahoojuro!*

TF Sigh, I know. I was getting a kick out of him daring Ana Let to slap him again. He was such a fun character to watch.

Julie The videos are in play, because both characters are still in play (TE JURO! K, I'll stop that lol). AnaLet's #4 is Tin's plan, not hers. She's only acting as a pawn for to keep him quiet about her secret infatuation.

Banana Nabilsco I admit you are right about Inak and AnaLet. I have called her a turd kisser from day one and it looks like I was right. Ja Ja Ja.
Maybe her next boyfriend can be Fecalundo........

Thanks, Julie. Great title and recap. Two of many great lines:

Great, now I have to recap a really annoying argument. I can hardly wait.

She doesn't pull away from him, but she does hold him off with a single finger of protest.

That kiss between Mariano and Viri was smoking hot. I don’t blame Viri for a momentary lapse. If George Clooney can settle down, maybe Mariano can too. Marcelo-with-a-little-bit-of-Santi and Ana Lucia were pretty romantic too. A good night for kisses.

I vote Iñaki is still alive. Poor thing is down that hill trying to phone Javier before he loses too much blood and Facundo’s goons arrive. Kind of sweet how our little sociopath knocked on Iñaki’s door. There is denial when a loved one dies – maybe it was just a dream? She did love him, in her own way. I’m still at Iñaki’s table. He loves his brother (and dad too, though he won’t own up to it), and last night he bravely tried to protect AnaLe.

ITA its strange that the writers have Viri's research turning up a schizo diagnosis instead of narcissistic personality disorder, but if the writers put this on Viri’s lips I guess that's where we’re headed.

So Ana Lloro is going to become independent by rudely refusing her morning hand-delivered glass of juice from sweet Leonor who has always been in her corner. “I am woman, hear me roar!” Yep, “Run, Ram. Run.”

Someone mentioned the possibility that he wasn’t even crippled but faking......especially when he told Ana Let that his biggest attribute is that he was very patient and bid his time so everything works out in his favor. Leticia, for the first time I’m thinking this theory could be true. It would serve Ana Lloro right because TinTin has always used their shared disability to manipulate her. She’d feel like such a fool. Yes!

"to manipulate her. She’d feel like such a fool. Yes!"

You know what really, really makes you feel like a fool? Being one.

Anna on Tin's paralysis: "But I can't see why he'd fake something at the risk of losing Gina."

It's possible that the paralysis was real at first, but that he regained the ability to walk after some period of time. As evidence I offer the Little House on the Prairie episode "Bunny," in which Nellie Olesen feigns paralysis as a way to extort gifts and favors after her original injury has healed.

Admittedly, a Little House episode isn't a medical journal, but it does establish a precedent for the realm of fiction.

LOL Julie! But did Nellie carry on the ruse for 3 years?

I just don't see what Tin Tin has to gain in faking being in a wheel chair. Hasn't helped him professionally. Maybe he makes more money in the park because of it but then we see him still in it in his house. If he can walk it makes his vengeance against Mariano and everyone else even more ludicrous than it already is.

Julie, I remember that "Little House on the Prairie" episode! But yes, you are right that it certainly does happen in fiction.

Nellie's ruse lasted maybe three weeks, because she didn't have Valentin's exceptional patience.

I honestly don't see any advantage for him to fake his paralysis either, unless there's some money in it. But maybe there's a twist we aren't expecting.

That's true. You can't put anything past TN writers. I hope he jumps out of his chair and does a back flip like Mary Lou Retton in Scrooged.

"Poor thing is down that hill trying to phone Javier before he loses too much blood and Facundo’s goons arrive. Kind of sweet how our little sociopath knocked on Iñaki’s door".

You've got me smiling away Niecie.

Ain't love grand??

Diana

" I hope he jumps out of his chair and does a back flip like Mary Lou Retton in Scrooged." and doesn't notice he is right on the edge of a cliff. KaSPLAT !

Ha ha good one Anon 5:36

I'm inclined to think Valentin really is paralyzed.

I believe we've seen shots of him alone and he has consistently been shown utilizing his wheelchair. If he can walk, he could be staying "true" to his character and not taking any chances of someone coming by unexpectedly...I've underestimated him all along so nothing is out of the realm of possibility.

Diana

Tin needed his sister to clean up his apartment before Laura came over. I don't think he'd lie to Clawdia about being paralyzed (because knowing her, she'd probably test him). So, I think he's paralyzed for real. It would be an interesting twist for him to stand up and surprise everyone, but I'm not sure what would be the point other than to show what a rotten scammer he is, but we already kinda know that he's a rotten scammer.

Now that Inaki is "TN dead" and she has not 'seen' SantiMarc for about 21 days, AnaLetMe.have.your.bebe needs to turn up preggers.

A. This would really scramble her and Facundo's yolks concerning salvaging her marriage.
B. It would rival anything Chris Rock could come up with, comic content, to see her 'splain it to Tio.
C. It would open the door for SantiMarc and AnaLuc.
D. It could be a seed for a sequel something like Rosemary's Baby
E. It would be far more entertaining than seeing Peg slap Ram.

Julie, loved the "Little House" reference.
